As corona virus disease (COVID-19) is still an ongoing global outbreak, countries around the world continue to take precautions and measures to control the spread of the pandemic. Because of the excessive number of infected patients and the resulting deficiency of testing kits in hospitals, a rapid, reliable, and automatic detection of COVID-19 is in extreme need to curb the number of infections. By analyzing the COVID-19 chest X-ray images, a novel metaheuristic approach is proposed based on hybrid dipper throated and particle swarm optimizers. The lung region was segmented from the original chest X-ray images and augmented using various transformation operations. Furthermore, the augmented images were fed into the VGG19 deep network for feature extraction. On the other hand, a feature selection method is proposed to select the most significant features that can boost the classification results. Finally, the selected features were input into an optimized neural network for detection. The neural network is optimized using the proposed hybrid optimizer. The experimental results showed that the proposed method achieved 99.88% accuracy, outperforming the existing COVID-19 detection models. In addition, a deep statistical analysis is performed to study the performance and stability of the proposed optimizer. The results confirm the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed approach. The outbreak of Covid-19 has taken the lives of many patients so far. The symptoms of COVID-19 include muscle pains, loss of taste and smell, coughs, fever, and sore throat, which can lead to severe cases of breathing difficulties, organ failure, and death. Thus, the early detection of the virus is very crucial. COVID-19 can be detected using clinical tests, making us need to know the most important symptoms/features that can enhance the decision process. In this work, we propose a modified multilayer perceptron (MLP) with feature selection (MLPFS) to predict the positive COVID-19 cases based on symptoms and features from patients' electronic medical records (EMR). MLPFS model includes a layer that identifies the most informative symptoms to minimize the number of symptoms base on their relative importance. Training the model with only the highest informative symptoms can fasten the learning process and increase accuracy. Experiments were conducted using three different COVID-19 datasets and eight different models, including the proposed MLPFS. Results show that MLPFS achieves the best feature reduction across all datasets compared to all other experimented models. DNA sequence classification is considered a significant challenge for biological researchers to scientifically analyze the enormous volumes of biological data and discover different biological features. In genomic research, classifying DNA sequences may help learn and discover the new functions of a protein. Insulin is an example of a protein that the human body produces to regulate glucose levels. Any mutations in the insulin gene sequence would result in diabetes mellitus. Diabetes is one of the widely spread chronic diseases, leading to severe effects in the longer term if diagnosis and treatment are not appropriately taken. In this research, the authors propose a hybrid deep learning model based on Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to classify the DNA sequence for the insulin gene to predict type 2-diabetes based on gene sequence mutation. To evaluate the proposed models, we used several performance indexes such as accuracy, precision, sensitivity, recall, and F1 score. The experiments shown in the paper reveal that the proposed model accomplished the best results. The overall accuracy of the learning process is recorded as 99% for the proposed hybrid LSTM-CNN model while it is recorded as 97.5%, and 95% for CNN, and LSTM, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Day after day, the importance of relying on nature in many fields such as food, medical, pharmaceutical industries, and others is increasing. Essential oils (EOs) are considered as one of the most significant natural products for use as antimicrobials, antioxidants, antitumorals, and anti-inflammatories. Optimizing the usage of EOs is a big challenge faced by the scientific researchers because of the complexity of chemical composition of every EO, in addition to the difficulties to determine the best in inhibiting the bacterial activity. The goal of this article is to present a new computational tool based on two methodologies: reduction by using rough sets and optimization with particle swarm optimization. The guarantee of delivering the service from the service provider is a vital requirement for the Cloud's users. This guarantee can be achieved through the Service Level Agreement, which is a contract between the user and the provider. In this paper, an SLA document is defined for an E-learning system called "go learn cloud system - glcs" to clarify the rights, terms and conditions for the users and providers. The SLA in this system has two types; a document between the Cloud service provider and the coordinator of the E-learning system, and a document between the students and the instructor from a side and the coordinator from the other side. On the other hand, this paper presents how the coordinator of the E-Learning systemscan take hisdecision for choosing the suitable Cloud Computing platform that can serve the system's user with minimum cost.
