23. Investigation of proton single-event transient in CMOS image sensor.

Abstract

With the increasingly widespread application of CMOS image sensors (CIS) in radiation environments, such as aerospace, their radiation effects have gained attention. This paper investigates single-event transient (SET) caused by the proton direct ionization on CIS, combining both experimental and simulation methods. The proton beam energy used in the experiment is 12 MeV, with a flux up to 3.5 × 108 p/(cm2 s). Due to the periodicity of the proton beam, the CIS output displays a phenomenon of alternating brightness and darkness. When the proton beam flux is low, numerous SET bright spots with different outputs are observed. To comprehensively analyze these experimental phenomena, a typical three-dimensional 4T pinned photodiode model is constructed in TCAD, and relevant SET simulation is carried out. The results indicate that incident position, incident time, and the number of incident protons significantly affect the output of SET-generated bright spots, which are key factors contributing to the different bright spots observed in the experiment. Abstract

For effective overall water splitting (OWS) in alkaline media, a novel Ru-doped bimetal oxide (Ru-NiCo2O4) catalyst deposited onto a conductive nickel foam (NF) is fabricated by a multi-step hydrothermal reaction, ion exchange, and subsequent annealing process. The distinctive 3D nanoneedle-like arrays not only provide an even distribution of Ru decorated NiCo2O4, but also expose additional active sites, facilitating electron transport and improving reaction kinetics. Besides, density functional theory (DFT) studies elucidate the electronic structure regulation in Ru-NiCo2O4 and the modification of the d-band center optimizes H* adsorption energy, which considerably increased the hydrogen production efficiency. Considering the aforementioned advantages, the as-prepared Ru-NiCo2O4 electrocatalyst exhibits greatly improved catalytic activity, requiring only 25 mV and 249 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER), respectively, as well as robust stability. Amazingly, the Ru-NiCo2O4 electrode in a two-electrode alkaline electrolyzer only needs 1.55 V to produce 10 mA cm−2, making it more efficient than the commercial RuO2‖‖Pt/C electrode (1.62 V). More importantly, 0.33 M urea only needs a low voltage of 1.427 V to drive the urine-mediated electrolysis, which is about 123 mV less than the urea-free electrolysis cell. This work presents an effective electronic structure engineering approach based on heteroatom doping that may be extended to design and fabricate novel high-performance OWS catalysts. Abstract

Considering the inherent defects of the traditional triangulation method, always a shadow area is produced in the image collected by the camera. In this work, based on the traditional monocular vision measurement system, an auxiliary light source was added to alleviate the shadow problem. Two symmetrical digital light processing (DLP) projectors were also employed to project the modulated monochrome red fringe patterns and the monochrome blue fringe patterns onto the object, whereas the distorted fringe patterns were captured by the colour camera. The image collected by the colour camera was separated, whereas the deformation fringe information of the measured object was obtained in the red channel and blue channel, respectively. Fusion of red and blue channels information to eliminate measurement shadows. From the experimental results, the root mean square error (RMSE) of the system was about 6µm, and this method can effectively solve the shadow problem in small object measurement.
