The article focuses on the rapid development of science museums and centers in India. It discusses the importance of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation's (UNESCO) International Year of the Child celebration in 1979 in the efforts to promote science education to children in Bombay. It was stated that through program of UNESCO, the municipal garbage ground in the area was transformed into a science park called the Nehru Science Centre Bombay. The development of the science park into a science center and the science activities, such as traveling exhibitions, that it has conducted are analyzed.
