AIM: To investigate the mechanism by which Yijing Decoction antagonist high glucose-induced damage to the basement membrane(BM)in an in vitro inner blood-retinal barrier(iBRB)model.METHODS:Rat retinal microvascular pericytes(RMPs)and endothelial cells(ECs)were isolated and cultured to establish an in vitro iBRB model. The cells were randomly divided into four groups: low glucose group(LG), high glucose group(HG), minocycline group(MG)and Yijing Decoction group(YG). The LG group received 25 mmol/L glucose, the HG group received 60 mmol/L glucose, the MG group received 60 mmol/L glucose + 10 μg/mL minocycline, and the YG group received 60 mmol/L glucose + 10% Yijing Decoction-containing serum. Incubation for each group were terminated after intervention for 12 h. Next, the Western blot analysis was performed to assess the protein expression of BM-related proteins, including collagen Ⅳ(CⅣ)and laminin(LN), as well as matrix metalloproteinase(MMPs)/tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases(TIMPs)such as MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-9, TIMP-1, TIMP-2.RESULTS:Compared to the LG group, the protein expressions of CⅣ increased in the HG, MG, and YG groups, as did LN in the HG and MG groups(all P0.05).CONCLUSION:Yijing Decoction can potentially intervene in DR by modulating the protein expression of MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-9, CⅣ, and LN, suppressing high glucose-induced BM remodeling, and mitigating damage to iBRB.

It is clear that the smart development of the aircraft cockpit is inevitable，and the study on the development technology of aircraft smart cockpit can provide the reference support for future aircraft smart cockpit design. The differences between intelligent and wisdom are explored in this paper，and the concept and design of the smart cockpit is put forward. Depth perception and immersion of the interaction，the category of cognitive，openness and personalized customization services of the smart cockpit design elements are summarized. Five key technologies which should be urgently solved for the development of aircraft smart cockpit are put forward，including multidimensional depth information perception and fusion technology，advanced information display technology，immersion natural interaction technology，intelligent situation cognitive technology and multi-intelligent independent adaptability technology. The analysis of key technologies can provide a new thinking about the design of the aircraft smart cockpit.

Abstract Because of their superior mechanical properties, preformed helical fittings are widely used in UHV transmission lines. However, they easily slip and become loose under extreme environments, so it is very important to study the fastening characteristics of preformed helical fittings. According to the stress characteristics of preformed helical fittings, a parametric finite element model including a core and preformed armor rods was established. Finally, the finite element model calculation was verified by comparing it with the test results. In this paper, the influences of the preformed armor rod diameter, pitch, length and forming aperture on the fastening characteristics were investigated. The numerical simulation results showed that the smaller the forming aperture of preformed armor rods, the larger the grip force. However, a small forming aperture is inconvenient to install, and too large of a grip force on the core easily leads to core damage. With the increase in the preformed armor rod length, the grip force increased gradually and linearly, and the increase slowed after the pitch number reached 9. The larger the pitch, the smaller the grip force of the preformed helical fittings. The fastening characteristics of preformed armor rods with slightly larger diameters were better and the fourth power of the diameter of the preformed armor rods has a linear relationship with the grip force.

Preterm infants face a significant risk of brain injury in the perinatal period, as well as potential long-term neurodevelopmental disabilities. However, preterm children with brain injury lack specific clinical manifestations in the early days. Therefore, timely and accurate diagnosis of brain injury is of vital importance. This study was to explore the diagnostic efficiency of myelin basic protein (MBP) and 8-oxo-deoxyguanosine (8-oxo-dG) serum levels in brain injury of premature infants. A total of 75 preterm infants with gestational age between 28 and 32 weeks and birth weight higher than 1,000 g were prospectively included. MBP serum levels were significantly higher in premature infants with white matter injury (WMI). 8-oxo-dG serum levels were significantly increased in both WMI and periventricular–intraventricular hemorrhages (PIVH). MBP and 8-oxo-dG were significantly correlated. The area under the curve was 0.811 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.667–0.955; p = 0.002] in MBP and 0.729 (95% CI 0.562–0.897; p = 0.020) in 8-oxo-dG. Therefore, the results showed that high MBP levels indicated a possibility of WMI in the premature brain during the early postnatal period, while high 8-oxo-dG levels were closely related to both WMI and PIVH, thus suggesting that MBP and 8-oxo-dG could be used as potential neuro-markers of preterm brain injury.

The sluggish kinetics of BiVO4 limits its applications in solar-to-hydrogen energy conversion. In this work, the zeolitic imidazolate framework ZIF-67 as a cocatalyst was immobilized on a BiVO4 nanocone via a solution-based photo-deposition method for photoelectrochemical water oxidation. Under the assistance of the nano-tip effect induced by the BiVO4 tip, nanoflower-like ZIF-67 was selectively grown at the vertex of the BiVO4 nanocone. The constructed BiVO4/ZIF-67 composite photoelectrode yielded a photocurrent of 0.92 mA cm−2 at ∼1.23 VRHE, which is about 3.5-fold that of pure BiVO4. In addition, surface/bulk charge separation efficiencies (ηsurf and ηbulk) were elevated when compared to those of the BiVO4 photoelectrode. Photoelectrochemical impedance spectroscopy (PEIS) and intensity modulated photocurrent spectroscopy (IMPS) measurements were further investigated to reveal the critical role of the modification of ZIF-67 in suppressing charge recombination and improving the photoelectrochemical activity of BiVO4. This research presents a feasible way to design a BiVO4/MOF composite photoanode induced by the nano-tip effect for enhanced photoelectrochemical water splitting performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MnO2@PCs (porous carbons) exhibiting high energy and power density are utilized as supercapacitor electrodes and prepared by impregnating porous carbons (PCs) derived from coal tar pitch (CTP) with KMnO4 as the manganese source. This study systematically investigates the impact of MnO2 loading on the microstructure and electrochemical performance in sample. It is found that the specific surface areas (SSA) of all MnO2@PCs significantly reduced compared to that of the PCs 2789 m2 g−1. The suggested mechanism might be a combination of the energy storage mechanism of dual layer capacitors with pseudo‐capacitance due to redox reactions of MnO2. Notably, MnO2@PCs‐0.0075 exhibits a maximum SSA of 1454.62 m2 g−1. Its specific capacitance reached 561 F g−1 at 0.5 A g−1, while the capacitance of the PCs increased by 81.5% to 309 F g−1. Remarkably, the Coulombic efficiency remained at 100%. The power density and energy density are determined in a two‐electrode test system to be 0.5 kW kg−1 and 58.01 Wh kg−1, respectively, at 0.5 A g−1. Concluding from these results and related literature, the MnO2 content significantly influences the electrochemical performance, suggesting that MnO2@PCs‐0.0075 could be a promising supercapacitor (SC) electrode material, provided its capacitance retention is enhanced.
