Colleges and universities have implemented a broad range of initiatives to support student success. Problem solving courses and course supplements are one approach. Evaluation of these courses has shown positive outcomes in terms of improved academic performance and other benefits. A number of these studies have also reported the largest positive effects with underperforming student groups. To further explore this approach a novel general education academic success course was developed. The course integrated a comprehensive problem-solving model into lectures and assignments as the basis of an active learning instructional strategy. Students were taught the model along with relevant academic skills content. They then applied the model to a personal challenge affecting their success in school and life. Using a matched cohort design, 826 course participants were compared with a campus-wide sample matched on key variables. Generalized linear models were used to estimate between group mean differences, and a Cox proportional hazards model was used to compare time to graduation. Results showed that students who successfully completed the course achieved higher cumulative GPAs overall compared with matched peers. Highest GPAs for students who took the course as freshmen suggested a transfer of knowledge over time. Results also showed that the course significantly benefited students from historically at-risk populations in terms of higher GPAs, units earned, retention, and graduation rates. This study shows that a well designed problem solving course can help students, especially those who struggle academically, to more effectively meet the challenges of college and daily life. This study aims to assess the key barriers to physical activity among overweight and obese adolescents, discovering that the most significant obstacles are a lack of time, different priorities, and a poor perception of one's body. A mixed method sequential explanatory design was used in the study which involves 50 respondents and 8 outliers in one of the public senior high schools in Cluster 1, Division of Pampanga. These findings are consistent with broader research, which shows that time constraints, low motivation, and self-consciousness pose typical challenges for those dealing with weight concerns. Interestingly, the study finds that social support from friends is the preferred coping strategy, implying a preference for emotional comfort over creative solutions. Despite exhibiting good internal problem-solving skills in planning and goal setting, there is a lack of confidence in execution. Furthermore, preferred avoidance coping mechanisms, such as daydreaming and fantasizing, indicate a preference for emotional distance and self-soothing over direct confrontation. The study underlines the value of building self-acceptance and engaging in the present moment as potential alternatives to daydreaming. It also identifies possible issues such as low self-esteem and a desire to escape reality. Notably, overweight and obese learners face different physical and psychological difficulties. The study points out the importance of peer support in coping techniques, as students rely greatly on peers for emotional support, which inspires emotions such as belonging and appreciation. Lastly, learners indicate a stronger willingness to get involved with organized activities such as sports, recognizing the potential benefits of improving physical fitness. It is recommended to further investigate the roles of peer support and sport program and how they affect obese and overweight students. The concept of pyramid volume has been studied at the starting of the elementary school (SD) level and studied more deeply in junior high school (SMP). However, many students make mistakes in solving problems related to the volume of pyramids. This study aims to identify the ontogenic and epistemological obstacles of students in understanding the concept of pyramid volume. This is a qualitative research using a Didactical Design Research (DDR). Sixteen students of grade IX in Bandung who had studied the concept of pyramid volume participated in the study. Data were obtained by analyzing respondents' ability tests and interviews to solve problems related to the volume of pyramids. Characteristics of ontogenic and epistemological obstacles were found in students' knowledge in solving problems related to the concept of pyramid volume. Problem-solving skills are an ability that must be cultivated to equip students with the skills needed to deal with today's increasingly complex and volatile environment. Computational thinking represents a new paradigm in problem-solving skills. After Wing proposed Computational Thinking as problem-solving skills in 2006, other scholars investigated this topic; nevertheless, the link between Computational Thinking and problem-solving has not been clearly discussed in previous studies. To uncover evidence for the connection between Computational Thinking and problem-solving skills, we conduct a systematic literature review of 37 papers collected from Web of Science database. The results indicate that (a) problem-solving is discussed in the 37 articles in the context of Computational Thinking, (b) the most frequently employed Computational Thinking stages in problem-solving skills are decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithm, (c) Computational Thinking is closely linked to problem-solving, and (d) Computational Thinking and problem-solving stages serve the same functions in solving problems. This research aims to improve problem-solving abilities regarding the greenhouse effect using project-based learning methods supported by Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)-Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)-based teaching materials. The study was conducted in multiple phases: (i) utilizing a pretest to gauge students' prior knowledge, (ii) employing the project-based learning approach to teach the greenhouse effect, and (iii) assessing students' final knowledge (with a posttest). The research was completed with the observation of temperature variations in a greenhouse prototype. Students monitored and recorded temperature changes over time. Students' problem-solving abilities increased significantly after being treated using project learning assisted by STEMESD teaching materials, imparting more information through the media by stimulating students' curiosity and interest in science subjects. Creativity and problem-solving are 21st-century skills that students must have to respond to the complex world dominated by technology. Teaching activities integrating Design Thinking (DT) have the potential to cultivate individual skills. As future in-service teachers, pre-service teachers need to understand DT so as to be able to use it in their future classrooms. In line with this, the present study aimed to explore the effects of the Stanford DT model on pre-service teachers' creativity self-efficacy, inventive problem-solving skills, and technology-related motivation. Quasi-experimental research with a pre- and post-test control group design was applied in the current study. A total of 70 pre-service teachers participated in this study, consisting of 36 experimental group (EG) students who learned with the DT model approach and 34 control group (CG) students who learned with a regular instructional approach. Design Thinking Activities were completed in 12 weeks, with three activities in the Modern Educational Technology (MET) course. The creativity self-efficacy, inventive problem-solving skills, and technology-related motivation scale were used to collect data before and after the experiment. An independent t test, Mann–Whitney U test, and Wilcoxon Test were used to analyze the data. The results indicated that there were significant differences in technology-related motivation, creative self-efficacy, and inventive problem-solving skills between the CG and EG students. The Stanford DT model integrated with the MET course was conducive to enhancing pre-service teachers' creativity self-efficacy, inventive problem-solving skills, and technology-related motivation in the context of the technological literacy course. The decomposition of numbers when solving subtraction tasks is regarded as more powerful than counting-based strategies. Still, many students fail to solve subtraction tasks despite using decomposition. To shed light upon this issue, we take a variation theoretical perspective (Marton, 2015) seeing learning as a function of discerning critical aspects and their relations of the object of learning. In this paper, we focus on what number relations students see in a three-digit subtraction task, and how they see them. We analyzed interview data from 55 second-grade students who used decomposition strategies to solve 204 − 193 =. The variation theory of learning was used to analyze what number relations the students experienced and how they experienced them, aiming to explain why they made errors even though they used presumably powerful strategies in their problem-solving. The findings show that students who simultaneously experienced within-number relations and between-number relations when solving the task succeeded in solving it, whereas those who did not do this failed. It is tough and challenging to learn several computer-based subjects via an online learning setting during COVID-19 for students from the education field. It required a lot of skills, techniques, understanding among students, and the ability to think critically to solve problems. To date, a lack of studies provides digital content as learning approaches to computer-based subject students for their learning via online learning. Thus, the problem-solving oriented e-module in learning computer-based subject via Facebook for Higher Education was proposed. An exploratory sequential research design (qualitative and then quantitative approach) has been used in this study. Research samples were selected based on purposive sampling (10 students) to find out what they needed from the e-module. Then, the module was developed based on ADDIE Model and problem-solving learning strategy. There were nine experts validated the e-module in terms of the ADDIE model approach, problem-solving approach, and content. This module was tested on 34 undergraduate students towards students’ performance and social presence for quantitative part. The t-test showed that the e-module significantly improved student performance (p 0.00; t=5.52) with Cohen’s d=0.944. Interestingly, the results from the content analysis show that this module fosters social presence via Facebook learning groups such as interactive, affective, and cohesive. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research revealed the nature of students’ creative thinking processes with theoretical and pragmatic learning styles in solving problems. The creative thinking process of these students goes through the stages of synthesizing ideas, building ideas, planning the implementation of ideas, and implementing ideas. This research was conducted at one of the junior high schools in Pasuruan Regency, Indonesia. Prospective research subjects are second grade students, totaling 150 students. The research instrument is the researcher as the main instrument and is assisted by additional instruments, namely the learning styles questionnaire (LSQ), the creative thinking test presented in E-module using science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) project-based learning, and interview guidelines. Based on the results of research on creative thinking processes in solving problems in students with theoretical learning styles and students with pragmatic learning styles, it can be concluded that there are differences in the creative thinking process at each stage, namely the stages of synthesizing ideas, building ideas, planning implementation of ideas, and implementing ideas. This difference is caused by differences in character between students with theoretical learning styles and pragmatic learning styles that influence students in building ideas to implement ideas. This study examines DECODE model and academic resilience to improve pre-service teachers' (PSTs) teaching abilities. Effective teaching in the changing context of education requires pedagogical skills and problem-solving. Teacher resilience is becoming more important to adapt and succeed in adversity. Development, inquiry, cooperation, observation, debate, and assessment make DECODE model a revolutionary teaching method. This study examines how DECODE adoption and academic resilience affect PSTs' progress to influence teacher preparation and training. DECODE paradigm, instructional competence, and academic resilience are contextualized in this literature review. STEM-based workshop for 97 PSTs from various academic levels. Linked samples JAMOVI t-test examines academic resilience changes post-workshop. Both t-values and p-values (<0.05) show a statistically significant improvement in academic resilience. DECODE model improves participant scores for teaching competency statistically significantly. Teaching effectiveness and resilience are linked, emphasizing the necessity for thorough teacher preparation. In this study, we aim to compare the procedural and problem-solving skills of university students during their transition to higher education. A diagnostic test was administered to 374 first-year students at a Peruvian university in March 2023, assessing both their mathematical knowledge and the aforementioned skills. The results reveal that university entrants exhibit a deficient level of mathematical proficiency, with significantly lower scores in problem-solving skills compared to procedural skills. It is noted that while procedural skills are part of problem-solving skills, the discrepancy in scores suggests challenges in the practical application of mathematical knowledge by students. The study sheds light on the situation faced by university entrants in Peru and provides recommendations for improving mathematical skills in higher education. However, it emphasizes the limitation of generalizing the results to all universities due to the limited sample size and the scarcity of research in the field of higher mathematics education in Peru. Disparities based on gender and type of school are observed, indicating that males slightly outperform females in both skills, and students from private schools outperform those from national schools. This study aims to analyze research trends in problem-based learning and problemsolving ability through bibliometric analysis in the Dimensions.ai databases from 2002 to 2022. The method used is bibliometric analysis with stages following the flow chart of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA). The results of the research show that the number of problembased learning publications and problem-solving ability has continued to increase since 2018. The number of publications on problem-based learning and problemsolving ability ranks first in the field of education. While the most published journal is the Journal of Physics Conference Series. The first rank in the number of publications reviewed by the researcher, I Made Arnawa. Based on the keywords problem based learning and problem solving ability the two are not connected. Thus, the topic of problem-based learning and problem-solving ability can be used as novelty for research and will become a trend in the future. The purpose of this study was to identify the the factors that influenced pre-service teachers' perceptions of their abilities to solve structured physics problems. 1185 pre-service teachers from different disciplines, enrolled in physics courses in one Turkish University from 2008 to 2017 participated in a descriptive survey. The factors influencing the pre-service r physics problem-solving abilities, ranking from most to least, were as follows: personal characteristics; quality of secondary or university physics teaching; secondary school physics education, and physics learning environment. The study implies the need for: (i) equal opportunities; (ii) knowledge integration; and (iii) learning affordances, which are relevant not only to Turkey but also to worldwide physics education. Problem posing has long been recognized as a critically important teaching method and goal in the area of mathematics education. However, few studies have used problem posing to assess in-service teachers' mathematical understanding. The present study investigated in-service teachers' mathematical understanding of fraction division, which is often considered challenging content in elementary school, from three angles: computation, drawing, and problem posing. Two studies involving 66 and 193 primary and middle school teachers were conducted to reveal the in-service teachers' mathematical understanding and whether drawing and problem posing affected each other. Although the in-service teachers rarely had the opportunity to pose mathematical problems in their daily teaching, they were able to pose mathematical problems in this study. In addition, problem-posing tasks were more useful in diagnosing the in-service teachers' conceptual understanding than were computation or drawing. Using a relational survey design, this study examined the relationship between preschool teachers' emotional intelligence levels and their coping responses to stress. A total of 257 preschool teachers from public and private institutions in Istanbul participated in the study. Demographic information form, Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale-33-Tr (EIS), and Coping Responsive Inventory (CRI) were used to collect data. The results showed that preschool teachers' scores on the EIS and the CRI were not significantly affected by their age, education level, type of institution, or length of service. A positive and moderately significant relationship was found between teachers' EIS scores and their CRI total scores, as well as sub-scores for problem-solving, positive reappraisal, logical analysis, and seeking professional support. The EIS and the subscale of seeking environmental support in CRI, however, had a positive and low-level significant relationship. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper examined the problem-solving and problem-posing skills of middle school students in terms of whether the factors of gender and school type have an impact, as well as to illustrate these skills with respect to grade levels. A total of 461 students from different middle school levels of both private and public schools participated in the study. The instrument and framework reported by Cai (2003) were applied in the data collection and analysis phases of the study. The results revealed no significant differences between private and public schools in terms of problem-solving and problem-posing skills. In terms of gender, similar characteristics were found in terms of problem-solving skills, while differences in problem-posing skills were noted. In addition, some differences were observed in terms of problemsolving and problem-posing skills according to grade level. These results are discussed in the context of the existing literature. This research aims to examine the implications of metacognitive strategies on problem-solving and students' selfefficacy in English writing skills. The study utilized a Quasi-Experimental research design involving a sample size of 100 participants. Tests were used to assess writing skills, and questionnaires were employed to gather data on the application of these strategies from the perspectives of problem-solving and self-efficacy. Subsequently, both the experimental and control groups received their respective treatments. The data was then analyzed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) with the assistance of SPSS 22. The research findings indicated that students who were exposed to the metacognitive strategy showed significant improvements in problem-solving and self-efficacy. Math word problems are relevant to the cultural context, making it easier for students to gain meaning. However, the potential of students is different in solving math word problems. Dynamic assessment strategies can be a solution to differences in student learning potential. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of dynamic assessment strategies in solving math word problems using cultural contexts. This research was conducted on junior high school students with an experimental design. The sample selection was done by cluster random, namely the control and experimental classes. Data analysis using t-test and Cohen test. The findings of this study indicate that dynamic assessment strategies can foster students' word problem-solving abilities with learning potential scores in the high category. Students in the experimental class could solve word problems better than the control class. Meanwhile, the effect size of the dynamic assessment strategy is in the high category. Problem-based learning (PBL) has been widely applied as an alternative to improve learning outcomes, but it is still little studied in the context of the probability theory course. This study described how implementing the PBL model improves students' problem-solving and critical thinking skills in probability theory course and evaluates its quality. This design research involved 58 undergraduate students and two probability theory course lecturers from two universities in Indonesia as participants. Data collection used observation to describe PBL implementation, then questionnaire and pretest-posttest to evaluate the quality of the model. This study produced a PBL model for the probability theory course which is implemented through five steps: i) Orienting students on problems; ii) Organizing students to study; iii) Assisting individual and group investigations; iv) Developing and presenting work or solutions; and v) Analyzing and evaluating problem solving processes. Lecturers and students consider that the implementation of PBL is practical. PBL implementation can also improve students' problem-solving skills and critical thinking in the probability theory course. The present study aimed to determine the views of classroom teachers on the inclusion or exclusion of current issues in classroom instruction, to investigate these views based on the definition of current issues, the methods and techniques employed in the instruction of current issues, the analysis of the instruction, and the positive and negative consequences of the instruction of these issues in the classroom. The present research was conducted with the case study method. The maximum diversity sampling method was employed to assign the study group members. The study group included 10 classroom teachers employed in seven primary schools in Battalgazi, Yesilyurt, Doğanşehir, and Hekimhan districts in Malatya province, Turkey. The study data were collected with a semi-structured interview form. Content analysis and continuous comparative data analysis were employed. The participants stated that the discussion of current issues in the classroom would lead to positive outcomes such as the development of student empathy, instruction of tolerance for different ideas, development of the problem-solving skills, sensibility, and communication skills, and negative outcomes such as problems in peer relations, behavioral disorders, negative reactions, and conflict. It was determined that classroom teachers mostly discussed controversial issues such as Covid 19, environmental pollution and natural disasters, and the student-initiated discussions on Covid 19 and natural disasters in the classroom. About 20% of the participating primary school teachers stated that the level of proficiency of their colleagues was low in the instruction of current events. This study aims to determine the effect size of implementing a physics textbook developed using multimodal representations to enhance the cognitive abilities and problem-solving skills of students. The research was conducted in one of the high schools in Bandung city with a sample size of 69 students. The sampling technique used was the class random technique. The sample was divided into two groups: the control group and the experimental group. In the control group, students learned using their regular textbooks, while in the experimental group, they used the textbook developed using multimodal representations and the Rosengrant problem-solving stages. The implementation of the textbooks in both the control and experimental groups was conducted using the PQ4R method (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) to focus the results solely on the influence of the textbooks. The results obtained indicate that the implementation of the developed textbook in this study had a significant impact on the cognitive abilities and problem-solving skills of the students. Programming languages have been used and developed in the field of education. Python programming was employed in this study. The goal of this study is to see whether there is an effect of using Pydroid in mathematics learning on students' problem-solving abilities and to see if this software satisfies or does not match the criteria for mathematics learning. This study was done on vocational students who give fresh learning experiences, improve problem-solving abilities, and acquire mathematics as structural from a clear explanation step by step. This study was developed as an experimental investigation using a descriptive form of research on 60 pupils. The use of Pydroid for studying mathematics demonstrates that students are assisting in the understanding of fundamental mathematical ideas. They study maths with Pydroid. Instead of counting on paper, Pydroid allows them to readily see words and/or numbers. This aids in the learning process, and Python programming can enhance the cognitive processes of mathematical problem-solving for DPIB 2 Session 2 and DPIB 3 sessions (1 and 2). Yet, in DPIB 2 Session 1 class with Sig. 0.242, it has no effect on mathematical problem-solving ability. Studying mathematics with Pydroid met has an impact on students' outcomes because by integrating students in mathematics learning, they comprehend the core concept. Students' activities on Pydroid can help them comprehend ideas and spark their enthusiasm in learning. It explicitly focuses students' attention on mathematics learning by utilizing Pydroid. In the case of combinatorial theory, problem solving becomes more demanding than in the rest of the topics of discrete mathematics. This is influenced by the complexity of the content, the variety of types of problems to be solved, and the insufficient skills with which many students get started in this subject. To contribute to the development of the ability to solve combinatorial problems, the authors of this communication identified a set of combinatorial heuristic procedures that, together with those of a general type, allow reversing the indicated difficulties. To familiarize students with the use of these procedures, a guide of heuristic questions is presented as a mediating entity. In the final part of the communication, criteria from the students of a teaching group are collected on the application of this guide in solving a combinatorial problem in a practical Discrete Mathematics class. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of academic supervision and best practices in the implementation of academic supervision in Public High School, Sumatera Utara Province. Indonesia. Academic supervision is a set of activities designed to help teachers develop their ability to manage the learning process in the classroom. The results of this study indicate that in order to implement effective supervision, the supervisor must be able to choose the best practice to be applied. The academic supervision techniques implemented are individual supervision techniques and group supervision techniques. The individual supervision techniques implemented are: 1) classroom visits, 2) classroom observations, 3) individual meetings, 4) inter-classroom visits and 5) self-assessment. Group techniques are implemented by involving a number of teachers in solving problems, talking and discussing together with the supervisors. This study aimed to identify the mathematical problem-solving skills and achievement of (autism spectrum disorder, ASD) students and their relationship to the arithmetic test of the (Wechsler-4, WISC-4) scale through indications of the Validity and Reliability of the measures used to diagnose students with (ASD) for the age group (7-15) years. The sample of the study included (18) students with (ASD), and a scale was applied to each of the mathematical problem-solving skills (understanding the issue, developing a solution plan, implementing the solution, validating the solution) and sub-achievements (arithmetic) from the (WISC-4) scale on them. Significances were reached for the content validity of the scales by (80%), and the skills of solving mathematical problems were tested. The value of the correlation coefficient of marks for the first dimension of understanding the issue was (0.887), developing a solution plan (0.774), implementing the solution (0.651), and verifying the validity of the solution (0.578), and achievement through the school's reliance on some skills and questions related to mathematics, some appropriate tests for students, and the mathematics test from the Wechsler scale -4 through arithmetic inference, which indicates the validity of the mathematics test from the scale. Significances of Reliability were attained by using the Cronbach alpha test, where the value of the coefficients for the signs of (ASD) students on the four-dimensional mathematical problem-solving skills test was (0.677), as well as achievement, which amounted to (0.807), and the mathematics test from the (WISC-4) from by re-correcting the response registration forms for eighteen marks related to the arithmetic test, which reached the value of the (WISC-4) scale. In addition, for a sample of students with (ASD) (0.791), there was no statistically significant link between mathematical problem-solving ability, achievement, and arithmetic testing on the (WISC-4) scale. And the ineffectiveness of the components of mathematical problem-solving skills and achievement among (ASD) students in the (WISC-4) arithmetic test. Integrating biology and mathematics can potentially solve problems associated with students' inability to solve quantitative biolon problems. To face this issue, we embarked on a project to develop biological and mathematical content-based comics for elementary school students. It would assist them in gaining early comfort with transdisciplinary work However, we need experts' perceptions to see if our comics are feasible. This exploratory interview research attempted to understand how experts perceive mathematical representation in biology comics. The three experts involved in the interview were a biology teacher. a mathematics lecturer, and a comics enthusiast. This study's empirical data were collected using semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The research uncovered three major themes: 1 ) comic content. 2) graph type, and 3) graph modification. Experts have a positive opinion of our comics. This study aims to adapt the revised Metacognitive Awareness of Reading Strategies Inventory (MARSI- R) into Turkish. MARSI-R is a self-report instrument designed to assess students' metacognitive awareness of reading strategies and perceived strategy use when reading school-related materials. 525 students (65% female, 35% male, Mage = 13 years old.) from multiple school types and degrees participated in this study. A stepwise validation procedure was used to translate and produce a Turkish version of the inventory. Evidence of structural and external aspects of validity for the inventory was collected. The 15-item inventory had a three-factor solution (global reading strategies, problem-solving strategies, and support reading strategies), as supported by confirmatory factor analysis. Turkish version scores were positively correlated with students' perceived reading ability, which provides evidence of MARSI-R's external validity. The coefficient of stability was calculated using data from 85 students who took the Turkish version of the MARSI-R twice in a five-week interval. The study's overall results provided evidence of the reliability and validity of the inventory. According to the results presented in this study, the Turkish version of the inventory can be implemented to assess the students' metacognitive awareness of reading strategies and perceived strategy use. New learning methods have been applied every day regarding education and training, and these methods have been used for students to better understand and structure knowledge. As one of these methods, inquiry -based learning is used in primary school science teaching. Turkiye has a rich and diverse cultural structure. Thanks to this diversity, different languages are spoken in various regions apart from Turkish as the official language in Turkiye. In our study, it is aimed to benefit from teacher views about the learning processes of bilingual students who are applied inquiry-based science teaching. The experiences of teachers who have bilingual students in their class were questioned. The study used the phenomenological research model, one of the qualitative methods. The research group consists of 7 teachers who are chosen voluntarily from teachers with bilingual students in the classroom. A semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher was used to collect the research data. While these forms, which included open-ended questions, were applied, the interviews were recorded. These collected data were analyzed by content analysis method. Research findings indicate that inquiry-based science teaching positively affects the learning processes of bilingu al students. It has been determined that students' conceptual understanding, participation and interest in the lesson, group working and cooperation skills, science lesson attitudes, problem solving skills and permanent learning are increased. As the global market has shifted rapidly in recent years, the debate over whether kaizen is a prerequisite to organizational effectiveness for continuously identifying new opportunities and gaining competitive advantages has increased. In addition, the effect of the customer-supplier relationship on organizational culture and productivity has gained substantial attention in recent studies, largely due to the expanding gap and misunderstanding of the benefits of continuous improvement (kaizen). The current study examines the mediating effect of customer-supplier relationships on organizational culture, continuous improvement, and productivity. Target respondents consisted of 240 Ethiopian manufacturing companies located in multiple industrial parks and used to collect the required data. Partial least squares-based structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to examine the mediating effect of customer-supplier relationship on kaizen and productivity. The outcome suggested that the customer-supplier relationship mediates kaizen and productivity. It also indicated that, in order to maintain organizational productivity, firms must differentiate themselves through cultivation of organizational culture and customer-supplier relationships. The problem based learning strategy is the answer to improve problem solving skills. This strategy is a problem-triggered learning model, which encourages students to learn and work cooperatively in groups to find solutions, think critically and analytically, be able to determine and use appropriate learning resources. For this reason, it is necessary to apply this method in education. The purpose of this research was to improve problem solving skills using the problem based learning (PBL) method. By maximizing this method many positive impacts will be obtained. The method used in this research is a quantitative method. The data obtained is through the distribution of a questionnaire. The questionnaire was made using the Google form application. The results of this study explain that the use of problem based learning strategies to improve problem solving skills in education can help students solve problems with the right solutions. As well as sharpening the ability to think critically and systematically, so that they can be more mature in responding to various problems. The conclusion of this study is that the use of problem-based learning strategies to improve problem-solving skills by students can be maximized, because they have mastered the right and effective way to solve a problem. Numerical integration plays an important role in solving various engineering and scientific problems and is often learnt in applied calculus commonly through the trapezium and Simpson's methods (or rules). A common misconception for some students is that Simpson's method is the default choice for numerical integration due to its higher accuracy in approximation over the trapezium method by overlooking the requirement for using Simpson's method. As learning progressed to other numerical methods scheduled later in advanced mathematics, such as interpolations and computational modelling using computing tools like MATLAB, there is a lack of articulation among these numerical methods for students to solve problems solvable only by combining two or more approaches. This classroom note shares a few teaching and learning practices the author experienced in lectures, tutorials, and formal assessments on comparing or combining different numerical methods for numerical integration for engineering students in applied calculus and advanced mathematics over the past decade at Central Queensland University (CQU), a regional university in Australia. Each case represents a common concern raised or a mistake made by some students in different times. These efforts helped not only correct the misconception on the use of Simpson's method by some students, but also develop students' strategic thinking in problem solving, particularly involving decision-making for choosing the best possible method to produce a more appropriate solution to a problem that does not have an analytical solution. This study aims to determine: (1) the effectiveness of the problem-based math module of zakat to improve students' mathematical problem solving skills in MA. The private Darul Mursyidi Sialogo Islamic Boarding School; (2) to determine the improvement of students' mathematical problem solving abilities by using the problem-based math module of zakat. This research is a development research using 4-D development developed by Thiagarajan. The stages are define (define), design (design), develop (development) and disseminate (spread). Research on the development of the problembased math module of zakat at the disseminate stage was carried out in a limited manner in schools which were the research subjects. The subjects in this study were students of class XI MA. Private Darul Mursyidi Sialogo Islamic Boarding School. From the results of the development test: (1) the problem-based zakat math module meets the validity criteria with a valid predicate, (2) the practical problem-based zakat math module based on the revision of the expert team and the results of interviews, and (3) the problem-based zakat math module is effectively used based on the results of the observation of the ideal time percentage achievement, the results of the test of mathematical problem solving abilities meet classical completeness, namely 80% of the test subjects, and (4) an increase in students' mathematical problem solving abilities using modules from test I to trial II and fulfill classical completeness. This study investigates the effects of using design thinking on students' problem solving and creativity skills, applying a constructivist learning theory. A course where students use design thinking for analyzing real problems and proposing a solution, was evaluated. The study involved 910 novice university students from different disciplines who worked in teams throughout the semester. Data were collected at three times during the semester, i.e. at the beginning (t0), in the middle (t1) and at the end (t2), after solving a short case study. Each time the problem solving and creativity skill of each student was rated by three different actors, i.e. the students themselves (self-evaluation), one peer and one teacher (facilitator). The objective of this study is to investigate whether the problem solving skills and creativity skills improved along the course, as rated by the three actors. A repeated measures ANOVA was used for the data analysis of this within-subjects design. Results show a significant improvement on students' problem solving and creativity skills, according to the three raters. Effect sizes were also calculated; in all cases the effect sizes from t0 to t1 were larger than t1 to t2. The multi-actor perspective of this study, the adoption of reliable and valid measures and the large sample size provide robust evidence that supports the implementation of design thinking in higher education curriculum for promoting key skills such as problem solving and creativity, demanded by labor markets. This study aims to test the discovery model integrated with the reading, questioning, and answering (RQA) model. This research is a quasi-study which involves the second semester XI grade students of state senior high school (SMA) Negeri in Situbondo as subjects. The number of students who studied was 160 people from four different classes in the 2018/2019 academic year. Sampling is done by class equality test. Each class is taught with a different model, for each class is grouped again based on the culture of residence of students, namely coastal students, urban and mountain students. Researchers used ANCOVA to test the research hypothesis followed by the least significant difference (LSD) test. The results showed that: i) RQA's integrated discovery learning model is able to improve students' problem-solving skills compared to the original model; ii) Culture has a significant role in shaping students' problem-solving skills, with the use of the same model given to students who have a background a different background will get different results; and iii) Learning in school and in the environment is an interrelated factor in shaping students' thinking patterns and problem-solving skills. A teacher–researcher searched for and defined theoretical principles in the literature that could be used as a basis for teaching high-school students who were struggling in mathematics (in a regular-level mathematics classroom) and could offer a framework to design tasks to encourage a problem-solving, thinking classroom. After identifying 13 principles, she refined them to a list of nine. Over the duration of the academic year, she designed lessons for two high-school classes (one Grade 11 and one Grade 12; 300 lessons in total) according to the principles to promote her class's group problem-solving skills, carefully documented them all, and then analysed her findings. The principles identified pertain mainly to awareness of how to promote active thinking and meta-cognition, explicit heuristic strategies for problem-solving, and using worked examples. All these to allow students (not only struggling) to build a general schema for approaching problem-solving with increasing efficiency. Two authentic class scenarios demonstrate how specific principles were applied and their effect on problem-solving efficiency in the classes. The findings suggest that introducing these principles into the class culture can offer a significant way to improve group problem-solving skills and, in particular, involve struggling students in the class discussions. In traditional advanced mathematics lectures the instructor usually provides definitions, theorems, and proofs on the board rather quickly. The students often cannot make sense of these during the lecture as they are busy writing. In order to gain an understanding of the content, an intensive post-class processing on the basis of their notes would therefore be necessary for many students. However, students often do not post-class process lectures carefully. Furthermore, they often do not record the lecturer's oral explanations that are essential to make sense of the formal lecture content. One approach to address these problems is a flipped classroom, in which students come into contact with new content before class, while the in-class time is used for activities that help students make sense of it. We implemented an adaptation of this approach in a proof-oriented analysis course, in which the instructor used the in-class time to illustrate how experts in mathematics make sense of new definitions, theorems, and proofs, while keeping the lecture as the mode of teaching. In this article we describe this adaptation, its possible benefits for addressing students' problems in learning from traditional mathematics lectures, and its actual effects, which we investigated in an empirical study. The main rehabilitation goal is to give a person faced with disability optimal functioning, i.e., to enable them to optimally participate in all aspects of life (education, family, professional, recreational, social). Contrary to this, rehabilitation is not an enhancement of a healthy, normal-functioning person. Personal factors (i.e., patient's personality, attitude, motivation and expectations, cognitive function, level of education, cultural norms, patient's age, and comorbidities) interact with impairment, activities limitations, and participation limitations, thus strongly influencing rehabilitation outcomes. When faced with disability a person goes through a 5-stage process of grief: a stage of shock, denial, frustration and anger, and finaly acceptance. The process is highly personal and it is not linear, thus everyone can go through the stages differently. There are some factors that tend to affect the length and depth of the personal change curve, i.e. how deeply an individual is affected by the change, the personal optimism, confidence, and the extent of control (or influence) a person feels to have over the change. To change the brain, rehabilitation interventions must have some meaning and reverence and have to be important to the patient, thus the rehabilitation goals should not only be realistic but should be important to the patient. The patient's motivation is indicated by the patient's compliance with rehabilitation. Intrinsic motivation is present when the patient augments compliance with a desire to recover for him- or herself. A motivated patient expresses a bold and proactive demeanor, involving certain appropriate forms of behavior. Those patients frequently ask relevant questions (e.g., the reasons for performing a specific exercise) rather than focusing on unimportant issues, ask for a more intense rehabilitation program, show an understanding of rehabilitation interventions, initiate therapeutic activities, and perform therapeutic exercises when alone. Motivation may be affected by the individual patient's personality (an optimist or a pessimist), clinical factors (age, severity and progressive course of the disease, impaired cognitive functions, depression), family factors (unrealistic expectations, overprotection), cultural factors (fatalistic norms that present disability as a deserved state rather than something to be overcome), and the rehabilitation environment. A stimulating rehabilitation environment involves things like a nicely decorated patient's room (bright and sunny with a view to the green, and pictures of nature on the walls), communal meals, a well-maintained day room, group treatment sessions in which patients can share beliefs about rehabilitation and observe each other's progress, and positive behavior of medical professionals with respect to the patient's dignity and avoidance of labeling the patients. Patients describe being treated with dignity by the rehabilitation staff as being an active participant in the process of rehabilitation, being appreciated and understood, being heard (the patient's feelings and thoughts are respected), being given time and being respected as a person. There is no, or little evidence from clinical randomized trials that a patient's positive thinking, or a positive attitude may directly influence healing processes after an injury, or cure a disease, i.e. restore body structure or function. Lack of evidence from clinical trials, especially when there are no relevant trials on the subject, does not mean direct influence of positive attitude on physical and mental health does not exist. One can speculate that there is a strong connection between the mind and the human body. There is some evidence of dispositional optimism in promoting higher levels of cognitive functioning in people who sustained a traumatic brain injury, thus dispositional optimism is related to psychological functioning, which in turn predicts improved cognitive and functional outcomes. Indirect positive influence of positive thinking or dispositional optimism on mental and physical well-being may be explained by the promotion of a healthy lifestyle as well as by the adaptive behaviors and cognitive responses, associated with greater flexibility, problem-solving capacity, goal adjustment, and a more efficient elaboration of negative information, all resulting with better compliance with the rehabilitation process. There are four goods of life: happiness, achievement, knowledge, and rewarding relationships. In principle, there is compatibility of disability and the goods of life. Vector problem-solving abilities are fundamental to everyday life and higher education; thus, improving them is important in education and research. However, the role of cognitive and affective factors and learning engagement in vector problem-solving performance is still unclear. This study examines the processes associated with vector problem-solving performance, focusing on the problem-solving strategy as a cognitive factor and math anxiety and task-specific self-efficacy as affective factors. In addition, this study examines the impact of learning engagement as a moderator in this process. A total of 245 Japanese 11th-grade high school students completed questionnaires. A multiple-group structural equation modelling revealed that (1) task-specific self-efficacy, math anxiety, and problem-solving strategies contribute to vector problem-solving performance when learning engagement is above average; (2) task-specific self-efficacy contributes to math anxiety, whereas task-specific self-efficacy and math anxiety contribute to problem-solving strategies when learning engagement is above average and stable; (3) task-specific self-efficacy is a positive predictor of vector problem-solving performance regardless of learning engagement. The results suggest that learning engagement moderates the association between math anxiety, task-specific self-efficacy, problem-solving strategy, and vector problem-solving performance. Cognition includes all processes through which a person becomes aware of their situation, needs, goals, and necessary actions. Regular specialized cognitive and neuromotor simulation exercises have improved various cognitive processes, including memory, speed of reasoning, and problem-solving skills. This review focuses on understanding the efficacy of long-term multicomponent exercise interventions to mitigate and delay the effects on cognitive abilities in older adults with neurodegenerative disorders. The main criteria for final studies were randomised controlled trials with a minimum of a 24-week intervention. The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Web of Science, SCOPUS, B-On, Sport Discus, Scielo, APA PsycINFO, Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, Academic Search Complete, Medline (PubMed), ERIC, and Google Scholar databases were checked. The search occurred between April 2022 and July 2022. A total of 19 studies were used in this review. The initial search identified 6.835 studies. In the first screening, a total of 6474 studies were excluded. After this, 361 studies were analysed by co-authors and did not meet the specific final criteria and were excluded. To improve the practical effect of an information system security course for students majoring in information security, a teaching method based on the theory of inventive problem solving (TIPS) that combines case-based teaching and project practice was introduced in the class. Adopting innovative thinking methods, we instructed students on the projects and goals of curriculum design. Using TIPS tools, the students completed complex projects. To test the teaching results, we examined 121 students who received case-based teaching using the TIPS method to design innovative projects. Quantitative data were collected using a statistically analysed anonymised questionnaire, while qualitative data collected from student reflective reports were thematically analysed. Through the in-depth development involved in the teaching of this course, their thinking and problem-solving ability significantly improved. The teaching effect evaluations indicated that this teaching method effectively improved students' practical abilities. This method was found to be conducive to planning students' future careers. This study reports on the incorporation of mobile instant messaging (MIM) in assessments, as a collaborative learning tool, to enable students to socially construct knowledge and develop their collaborative problem solving competence, while being assessed individually. In particular, this study explores: what is the extent and timing of students' use of MIM to communicate with other students while being assessed individually? What communicative activities are evident in the content of students' MIM communications while being assessed individually? How do students experience being able to use MIM while being assessed individually? The results of this study's analysis of the messages sent during various assessments suggests that when incorporating MIM into assessments, instructors should consider the objective of those assessments together with the nature (e.g. essay style) and the stakes of the assessments as these appear to influence the extent, timing and content of the instant messaging communications by the students during the assessment. A survey of the students suggested that their experiences of being able to use MIM during assessments were largely positive due to the learning opportunities, collaboration and teamwork, authenticity and equity that the introduction of instant messaging during assessment enabled.
