Producing green energy from renewable raw materials, organic waste and energy crops, will benefit society. Industrial biofuels might be sustainable and non-polluting if they are correctly integrated with the natural ecological cycles. In this context biomass thermal processing, torrefaction, hydrothermal conversion, pyrolysis, and gasification could convert bio-waste into sustainable energy feedstocks. This review aims to present what has been done on the thermochemical conversion of biomass, and what are the current challenges and future ideas. Bio-fuel production through hybrid renewable energy systems. Integrated renewable energy systems can increase energy storage capacity, reduce energy production costs, and improve the quality of generated power. More work should be done on the ways to maximize renewable sources fraction while minimizing the costs, real-life testing, as well as on combining these technologies with carbon capture and storage.

Mahjoub feedstock diet (MFD) is an innovation primed for livestock feed. This innovation in feed ingredients covers efficiency, profitability, environmental footprint, animal health, and welfare. This study is the first to evaluate whether manure nutrients, ammonia emissions and milk quality were affected by feeding cows with MFD compared to regular diet. We carried out a field experiment on-farm including four dairy cows to investigate the effects of the MFD feeding system on cow health, contents of dairy products, and manure composition. The results have shown excellent cow health with antibiotic-free husbandry for several years; a privileged fatty acid profile in dairy products, i.e., a major reduction in trans-fat with increased protein content and customary amino acid profile; and finally, a high C: N ratio in odorless manure. Furthermore, our methodology of approach was within the industry's conventional cost. Our cumulative results imply the preferential health and environmental performance of the feed intake diet used in the current research. Further research is planned and ongoing to deepen understanding of MFD effect on both environment and cow/human wellbeing .

Environmental, economic and strategic reasons are behind the rapid impulse in the deployment of renewable energy sources that is taking place around the world. Microgrid technology can effectively integrate the advantages of distributed generation, and also provide a new technical way for large scale application of grid-connected generation of new energy and renewable energy. The Palestinian territories are facing critical situation concerning the achievement of sustainable development. As an example, we know Energy is the main player in the community’s development in several aspects, but Palestine is an occupied developing country which has a complicated energy sector. In recent years, the Gaza Strip has suffered from several wars that have led to the collapse of its energy system, and this calls for research in providing alternative sources for conventional energy. In this paper, a solar-biomass hybrid system is proposed for electrification of rural area in GAZA strip, the city of TIKA. We used olive oil mill waste as a biomass. We used HOMER program to develop an optimal system from the practical view point. "Increasing household energy demand in the countries of the global south and the lack of conventional fuels and their high prices is forcing local authorities to look for alternatives. Based on the example of the city of Gaza, the primary renewable energy sources are large volumes of biomass, particularly waste-derived, which causes environmental and health damage, as well as abundant amounts of solar radiation. Hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) of solar and biomass is proposed, providing sustainable electrification for highly populated communities. By reviewing the literature studies on the electrification systems consisting of biomass and solar energy systems in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries, and with respect to the corresponding technologies applied, we decided to incorporate a biogas engine generator. Simulation experiments are conducted by HOMER Pro-software of the residential district average daily demand is about 1074 kWh/day, and peaks of 84.5 kWp. The grid-connected system utilises renewable resources through photovoltaic panels and a biogas generator. Cotton stalk (CS) plant residue left in the field following harvest must be buried or burned to prevent it from serving as an overwintering site for insects such as the pink bollworm (PBW). This pest incurs economic costs and detrimental environmental effects. However, CS contains lignin and carbohydrates, like cellulose and hemicelluloses, which can be converted into a variety of usable forms of energy. Thermochemical or biochemical processes are considered technologically advantageous solutions. This chapter reviews potential energy generation from cotton stalks through combustion, hydrothermal carbonization, pyrolysis, fermentation, and anaerobic digestion technologies, focusing on the most relevant technologies and on the properties of the different products. The chapter is concluded with some comments on the future potential of these processes.
