This study explores how supply chain integration (SCI)—encompassing internal, supplier, and customer integration—enhances operational and financial performance. Using data from 90 companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange, the findings reveal that SCI drives operational efficiency and innovation through cross-departmental collaboration, strategic supplier partnerships, and advanced customer engagement. Internal integration aligns processes and improves decision-making, supplier integration optimizes resource use and fosters innovation, while customer integration enhances responsiveness and personalization. Collectively, SCI explains 84.7% of operational performance variance and 80.4% of financial performance. This research underscores the strategic importance of tailored integration efforts supported by digital technologies to address organizational challenges and sustain competitive advantage. The findings provide actionable insights for companies aiming to optimize their supply chains and achieve long-term business resilience in dynamic markets. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The paper emphasizes the crucial significance of corporate governance (CG) in the banking sector, specifically in the context of Industry 4.0. It investigates how CG affects the operational efficiency of commercial banks listed in Vietnam during the period 2014-2023. The study employs the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) approach to examine the impact of Board of Directors (BoD) characteristics, including gender diversity, nationality, independence, and the age gap between the chairman and CEO, on business performance using both primary and secondary data. The study reveals that the presence of both gender diversity and nationality diversity has a favorable effect on the performance of banks. However, it also suggests that a considerable age difference between the Chair and CEO can result in improved profitability but also an increased likelihood of conflicts. The process of privatizing Vietnam's banking system revealed weaknesses in corporate governance, highlighting the importance of implementing strong corporate governance to protect the interests of stakeholders and ensure economic stability. The study offers valuable insights and suggests strategies to improve the composition of boards in Vietnamese banks, bringing them in line with international corporate governance standards. It also highlights the importance of harnessing technology innovations to achieve success and stability in an ever-changing economic environment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Purpose: This research aims to explore the impact of sustainable entrepreneurial intentions on business performance within small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in China. It investigates how sustainable entrepreneurship mediates this relationship and examines the moderating roles of behavioral intention and environmental sustainability orientation. Method: The study utilized a quantitative approach, collecting data from 239 employees working across various SMEs in China through a structured survey. The measurement scales were adopted from established research to ensure reliability and validity. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed using Stata-SEM for data analysis, allowing for a comprehensive examination of direct, indirect, and moderating effects. Findings: The results indicate that sustainable entrepreneurial intentions significantly influence business performance, with sustainable entrepreneurship serving as a crucial mediator in this relationship. Behavioral intentions and environmental sustainability orientation were found to significantly moderate the impact of sustainable entrepreneurial intentions on business performance. These findings highlight the importance of integrating sustainability practices and personal commitment into business strategies. Originality/Implications: This research contributes to the theoretical and practical understanding of sustainable entrepreneurship by providing empirical evidence on the mediating and moderating effects within SMEs. It offers actionable insights for entrepreneurs, managers, and policymakers to enhance business performance through strategic sustainability efforts. The study also suggests avenues for future research to further explore these dynamics across different contexts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This research explores the relationships between green supply chain management (GSCM), lean management (LM), corporate social responsibility (CSR), and business performance (BP) in the industrial sector of Saudi Arabia. The project is implemented within the Vision 2030 framework, which aspires to green the Saudi economy by transitioning it from reliance on hydrocarbons to a diversified, sustainable economy. A quantitative approach was implemented, which involved the application of the structural equation modeling analysis for the survey data from 345 managers in the industrial sector in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Region. The results revealed that GSCM directly makes a significant contribution to LM, CSR, and BP. Also, the study found that LM was the positive factor that mediated the relationship between GSCM and BP. Nevertheless, no such associations were found between CSR and BP, nor was there an indirect effect of CSR as the mediator variable. The research underscores the supreme role lean management plays in translating environmentally friendly supply chain practices into better business performance. It reveals that industrial companies wishing to gain the advantages of narrowing their supply chain by using green practices should also simultaneously implement a lean management system to improve efficiency. Technology has become crucial for businesses of all scales, enhancing operational efficiency, customer experience, and overall performance. While many formal businesses have embraced technology, small and informal businesses, particularly in rural areas, often struggle with adoption due to resource constraints. This study examines the impact of technological capability (TC) on the performance of informal food service operators (IFO) in southwestern Nigeria. This study employed a quantitative approach whereby a closed-ended questionnaire was administered to 180 IFOs across different LGAs in Oyo State to elicit information about the effect of their activities on performance indicators. The response rate was 93.8%. Data was analyzed using a binary logistic regression model. Findings revealed that the innovation capability (β—1.657; p—0.003*) and production capability (β—3.276; p—0.009*) of the IFOs significantly influenced their sales turnover and profit level is influenced by innovation capability (β—1.657; p—0.013*), investment capability (β—2.013; p—0.004*) and linkage capability (β—2.716; p—0.003*) within the study area. The study recommends that there should be strong linkages between the operators and technology-providing organisations to enhance their innovation capability.

The construction industry in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa plays a crucial role in the region’s economy, yet small and medium enterprise (SME) construction companies face significant challenges in achieving long-term business sustainability. This article aims to provide practical guidelines for SMEs, by investigating the most critical construction management practices adopted by SME contractors. Utilising a quantitative approach, data were collected from 59 purposefully selected participants, including directors, construction managers, quantity surveyors, site agents, and technicians, all registered under the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Grades 1-4 in General Building (GB). The management practices of SME contractors were analysed using the relative importance index (RII) and factor analysis to rank these practices according to their significance. Findings indicate that SME contractors prioritise health and safety strategies, effective resource utilisation, integrated project management systems, competent recruitment, strong leadership skills, and robust health and safety management as essential practices. The principal component analysis identified six key management factors to enhance competitiveness while contributing to the region’s sustainable development goals. These factors include shared knowledge among management, effective project scope planning, comprehensive health and safety management, ownership of construction business knowledge, scope control on projects, and clearly defined goals for management teams. This study is original in its focus on the specific management practices that can strengthen the sustainability of SME contractors within a developing region, providing a valuable framework for enhancing their operational effectiveness.

Big Data (BD) has emerged as a pivotal tool for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), offering substantial benefits in enhancing business performance and growth. This review investigates the impact of BD on SMEs, specifically focusing on business improvement, economic performance, and revenue growth. The objective of this systematic review is to evaluate the drivers and barriers of BD adoption in SMEs and assess its overall impact on operational efficiency and business outcomes. A comprehensive systematic review of 93 research papers published between 2014 and 2024 was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework. The methodology included detailed analysis of research approaches, addressing biases and gaps in the literature. BD adoption in SMEs led to significant improvements in operational efficiency, revenue generation, and competitiveness. However, the studies reveal persistent challenges, such as limited financial resources and technical expertise. The review identified a reporting bias, with 47% of studies using quantitative methods, 28% employing case studies, and mixed-method and qualitative studies underrepresented (22% and 17%, respectively). This imbalance highlights a potential overreliance on quantitative approaches, which may limit the depth of insights gained. While BD offers considerable potential for driving innovation and enhancing competitiveness in SMEs, addressing the current methodological biases and resource-related barriers is crucial to fully harness its benefits. Future research should focus on diverse approaches to provide a holistic understanding of BD’s impact on SMEs.

Abstract Based on complementarity theory, this study investigated the effect of strategic intelligence, leadership, planning, and thinking on business performance in large Saudi industrial companies simultaneously with strategic flexibility as a moderator. Using a quantitative approach, data from 241 managers were analyzed through PLS-SEM. Findings show that only strategic planning significantly enhances performance, while strategic intelligence, leadership, and thinking show no significant effect. Moreover, strategic flexibility does not moderate these relationships. The results challenge conventional views on the consistent efficacy of strategic capabilities in emerging markets. This research highlights the critical role of structured planning in volatile environments while questioning the universality of strategic intelligence and leadership. The study emphasizes the need for tailored strategic approaches in developing countries, providing valuable insights for managers aiming to improve performance.

This study examines the impact of compensation and work environment on employee job satisfaction at Al-Hoty Analytical Services in the Kingdom of Bahrain. In a competitive global market, optimizing workplace conditions is crucial for enhancing employee morale and organizational performance. A sample of 152 employees from various departments at Al-Hoty Analytical Services was surveyed using a structured questionnaire, applying saturated sampling within a quantitative research framework. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 26. The results indicate that the physical work environment significantly contributes to higher levels of job satisfaction, emphasizing the importance of a well-designed workspace. The social work environment, while positively correlated with satisfaction (p = 0.926), did not significantly impact overall satisfaction (β = 0.385, p < 0.001). In contrast, both direct and indirect compensation had significant positive effects on job satisfaction, with direct compensation having a stronger influence (β = 0.273, p < 0.001) than indirect compensation (β = 0.238, p = 0.001). The study provides practical insights for organizational leaders and contributes to the broader understanding of job satisfaction dynamics.

Even though the occurrence of hybrid entrepreneurs (people who work somewhere else but also own enterprises) is quite common, their personality traits and their influence on business performance have not yet been broadly studied, especially in the context of the tourism industry. Collecting data from tourism entrepreneurs in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), India, the current study investigates how the Big Five personality traits of tourism hybrid entrepreneurs influence business performance. Further, risk aversion has been investigated through mediation to test whether the association between personality traits and business performance is affected in its presence. To achieve this goal, hierarchical regression analysis was used to study this influence and the results revealed that hybrid entrepreneur extraversion, conscientiousness, and openness to experience produces a favourable influence. In addition, risk aversion partially mediates the association between personality traits and business performance. Further interaction helps in explaining variance in a better way. The current study is the first to present data demonstrating the necessity for hybrid entrepreneurs to be investigated as a distinct category in personality-focused entrepreneurship research.

- Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to enhance understanding of digital capabilities (DC) by examining various attributes and integrating findings from previous studies on the impact of DC on business performance (BP) using the balanced scorecard approach. This study employs qualitative methodologies to systematically review the literature, focusing on 131 studies from the Scopus database, categorizing research gaps, DC attributes, and the influence of DC on BP, and presenting these findings as a consolidated categorization alongside a future direction framework. The findings indicate that DC significantly impacts internal processes (BP2), enhancing firms' ability to integrate value chains, improve efficiency, and add cost competitiveness to innovation. This influence on BP2 also interrelates with financial performance (BP1), where internal efficiency benefits economic outcomes. However, gaps exist in understanding DC's effect on customer-related aspects, and findings vary across firm types, industries, and countries. The study identifies three key DC attributes: digital technology, digital agility, and digital marketing capabilities. To the author's knowledge, this study is the first comprehensive evaluation of DC attributes relevant at the business level, providing a criterion-based view of DC's impact on BP and contributing to broader research on business strategies. Purpose: This study presents evidence of the role of performance measurement and management (PMM) in sustainable supply chain governance. This study tests a model hypothesizing whether it is the PMM itself or the mediating effect of supply chain governance that is essential for both business and sustainability performance. Design/methodology/approach: This study builds on a survey of 274 SMEs in Finland. Findings: The findings indicate that PMM does not directly contribute to SMEs' business or sustainability performance. Supply chain governance mediates the relationship between PMM and business performance. Business performance also enhances sustainability. Practical implications: These findings can guide managers in managing company relationships with customers and suppliers. The mediating role of supply chain governance highlights the potential of PMM to enhance performance. Without supply chain governance, the PMM, while efficient in traditional business practices, may lose its effectiveness because of the pressure to advance sustainability values within firm operations. Originality/value: The role of PMM in enhancing supply chain sustainability is frequently overlooked in the existing research, necessitating an empirical evaluation of PMM's impact on supply chain sustainability. This study addresses this gap by focusing on the SME context, where the pressure to adopt sustainable practices is increasing, yet SMEs employ PMM less frequently than larger firms. This research has dealt with the gaps in the previous literature and the preponderant problems in the Ghana telecom industry. The main objective is to explore the roles of innovation capability and environmental turbulence on the relationship between customer relationship management and business performance in the Ghana telecommunication industry. Hierarchical linear regression and structural equation models through STATA and AMOS statistical software were employed to analyze the obtained data from a structured questionnaire. These models were used based on the type of analyses employed in our study and since they are robust in determining and validating the proposed causal relationships among variables. To summarize the findings, (1) the study found that customer relationship management constructs have a positive impact on innovation capability and business performance. (2) We discovered that innovation capability constructs have a positive effect on business performance. (3) Innovation capability mediates the relationship between customer relationship management and business performance. (4) Environmental turbulence moderates the relationship between customer relationship management and business performance. These findings contribute immensely to managerial and practical implications by entreating managers to intensify their commitment to CRM and innovation activities such as sharing indispensable information, involving customers, solving problems jointly, building long‐term relationships, and using modern technologies in building powerful partnerships with customers to meet their needs in order to accelerate performance. In times of disruption, a company's ability to manage its supply chain effectively can determine its success or failure. This paper explores the extent to which strategic partnership development, mediated by digital transformation, enhances supply chain effectiveness during such periods. A mixed methods approach was used, involving surveys and interviews with professionals from the Saudi Arabian manufacturing sector. The study's findings reveal that digital transformation and strategic partnerships work synergistically together to enhance supply chain resilience and effectiveness, resulting in improved operational agility and adaptability. Four key enablers of supply chain digital transformation were identified: inter-business coordination, leadership, technological culture, and recruitment management. These insights contribute significantly to our understanding of how businesses can build resilient supply chains in uncertain environments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A significant part of the literature postulates the importance of economic factors and, in particular, market pressure as the main motivation for the adoption of environmental management systems, such as ISO 14001 (International Organization for Standardization). Most of these studies are based on questionnaire surveys assessing the perceptions or opinions of company managers. Few studies have investigated the relationship between the adoption of the standard and economic and financial performance using objective accounting data. This study aimed to test the link between ISO 14001 adoption and economic and financial performance using accounting data from 374 agrifood small‐ and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs) in Spain during the period 2013 to 2015. The results showed that ISO 14001 contributes to improved commercial and marketing performance through a positive effect on turnover in domestic markets and especially in export markets. However, no positive relationship could be found between ISO14001 and company results or profits. Therefore, ISO 14001 can be considered more as a means of entering and developing sales, particularly in export markets, than a tool to enhance financial profits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Green manufacturing (GM) and sustainable manufacturing (SM) have become vital to counter environmental challenges. Industry, academia, and policymakers have been actively working to reduce the adverse environmental impacts of manufacturing. Though, used interchangeably, GM and SM are not the same but are related to each other. This fuels confusion and leads to conflict, as the transition simplifies similarities and differences between the two, in terms of their 'drivers and relationships' remain blurred and are never discussed. GM‐SM transition is never straightforward. It necessitates a shift in organizational priorities, practices, strategies, and goals and attracts researchers' attention. The study is significant as existing literature lacks the address of drivers‐based linkages between the two, and its management in the context of India, known for manufacturing capabilities and greenhouse gas‐based emissions. The study investigates GM‐SM relationships, attempts modeling, and establishes that if the transition is handled correctly, it leads to improved business performance and positive environmental impact. The findings guide what and where to focus to highlight priorities, making use of 14 and 22 drivers of GM and SM, respectively. It emphasizes the importance of implementing stringent environmental regulations, maintaining pressures from the Government, markets, and supply chain stakeholders along with management commitment with a clear vision. Authors expect that application experience will be useful for practitioners and researchers, in strengthening the linkages between environmental and manufacturing research domains. Independence in financial auditing is a topic with extensive research, due to the ethical values expected from accountants and the conflicts with agency pressures and commercial interests. However, there is a lack of research on the benefits of ethical behaviors in the dynamic interactions between auditors and clients. This study aims to achieve through a qualitative approach an in-depth understanding of the self-perceived auditor independence and how it intervenes in the relationship with clients. Ten semi-structured interviews with auditors from the five major audit offices in the city of Porto were conducted. The results explore conflicts of interest between auditor independence and customer relationships. However, the findings highlight that improving auditor's independence allows at the same time the development of a better professional relationship with the client, mitigating the conflicts of interests identified in previous literature. This paper presents a formula in which audit firms can leverage the concept of independence when they promote communication, transparency, and an open market. Regulation and supervision should work in favour for the same goal. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In today's competitive business environment, accounting information systems (AISs) are crucial for organizations seeking to enhance decision making and improve performance. This study investigates the interplay between AIS competence, information quality, and system effectiveness and their collective impact on business performance within Saudi Arabian companies. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 123 manufacturing and service firms through a structured questionnaire. Employing structural equation modeling (SEM), this study elucidates the direct and mediating effects of AIS attributes on organizational outcomes. The findings indicate that system competence has a direct positive effect on both information quality and AIS effectiveness. Information quality, in turn, positively influences AIS effectiveness and business performance. Additionally, AIS effectiveness was found to have a direct positive impact on organizational performance. This study provides valuable insights for managers seeking to optimize AIS investments and emphasizes the importance of integrating high-quality information systems to achieve strategic and operational goals. The results offer a detailed understanding of AIS dynamics, particularly within the context of emerging markets, and contribute to the broader discourse on technology-driven business performance enhancement. This study aimed to assess the extent to which microcredit women clients practice microcredit fungibility, the factors contributing to microcredit fungibility, and whether credit fungibility affects the performance of the supported microenterprise. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analysed using logistic regression analysis and the Hayes Process Macro Linear-Based regression analysis. Results have shown that approximately 70% of sampled borrowers acknowledged engaging in microcredit fungibility, and the borrowers were likely to practice fungibility if they were married, had dependent children, and owned multiple businesses. The number of household members with income sources and the education level of the borrower were negatively related to fungibility. The findings also established that although microcredit plays an essential role in the entrepreneurial pursuits of women microcredit clients, its effectiveness hinges on how the funds are utilised. Results suggest that microcredit fungibility attenuates the impact of microcredit on enterprise performance. Conversely, the number of household members with income sources, the borrowers' level of education, and the duration of membership in the microfinance programme influenced enterprise performance significantly, while marriage exhibited a negative relationship with enterprise performance. Decision-making by the business owner, the number of dependent children, and ownership of different sources of income by the borrower do not affect business performance significantly. The study recommends microfinance programmes to understand borrower characteristics and household economic portfolios before disbursing the funds. Moreover, providing financial and business skills training to help borrowers grow and manage their businesses and finances effectively is crucial. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the impact of various dynamic capabilities (Innovation (IN), entrepreneurial leadership (EL), Social media (SM), and digital technology (DT)) on Business performance (BP). This study also analysis the mediating impact of talent management(TM), and Entrepreneurial orientation (EO) between EL, and Business performance. The reason for this is that in the handicraft industry SM, DT TM, and SR impact on business performance are still not fully understood. We have adopted a survey-based methodology from 410 handicraft artisans or entrepreneurs. Data was empirically analyzed to test the theoretical model of mediation through Smart partial least square method (SMART PLS-SEM) software. The study's findings prove entrepreneurial EL improves Business performance whereas the association between Social media (SM) and BP is insignificant. The mediating impact of Talent management, EO, and strategic resilience was statistically positive and significant and proved that bridging between BP and all three mediators supports and makes stronger EL for boosting business performance. Innovation, and digital technology, positively affect Business performance. This study explores artisans' formal entrepreneurial EL style. This study is unique because the Dynamic capability theory (DCT) as an extension of the resource-based view (RBV) has been used for critical business factors like EL, strategic resilience, Business performance, digital technology, innovation, and talent management in the handicraft sector will be extended. This study also proposes a new Digital capability view (DCV) for future study. This study will explore the theoretical and practical understating of (DCT) with managerial use of EL, Innovation, and TM for boosting Business performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
International economic trade plays a crucial role in global merchandise supply chains; as such, the development of industries is critical to enhance the expansion and growth of marine transportation services. In Vietnam, commercial activities are rapidly expanding, and there is a strong foundation for developing seaport enterprises. This research aims to evaluate and rank the business performance of seaport enterprises in Vietnam by analyzing the ratio of various variables in the financial statements from 2019 to 2023 via an integration of the Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation (CRITIC) and Combined Compromise Solution (COCOSO) methods. First, the weight of each variable will be determined by the CRITIC method. Second, the efficiency and rank of each alternative will be identified by the COCOSO method. These empirical results revealed the business performance and position of each seaport enterprise based on the efficiency scores, providing valuable insights into their financial operations. Additionally, the findings described a comprehensive overview of maritime transport and recommended actionable solutions to improve the business performance of seaport enterprises in the future. - Abstract
This study examines how committees' characteristics affect business performance (BuPE) in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, this study investigates the connection between BuPE and Environmental Sustainability (ESG), as determined by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Design/methodology/approach: Econometric methods, such as feasible generalized least squares (FGLS) regression, and random effects, ordinary least squares (OLS), are applied to investigate the connection between the independent and dependent variables, utilizing a sample of 131 Saudi listed firms spanning from 2015 to 2021. Findings: Regression analysis shows that the size and independence of audit committees have a positive impact on BuPE, while audit committee meetings are negatively linked to BuPE. The outcomes also indicate that audit committee commitment was not affected by BuPE. Moreover, ESG has a positive and significant relationship with BuPE. On the same path, the results of the additional analysis confirm the main results. Practical implications: The findings of this study may serve as a valuable basis for regulatory actions, particularly with respect to audit committees and CSR. These findings have far-reaching implications for regulators and investors, as they offer valuable insights into the effects of CSR and audit committee features on BuPE. Originality/value: The current research demonstrates that audit committees and CSR have distinct implications for firms' BuPE, as evidenced by empirical data. The findings suggest that policymakers and researchers should not view CSR as a homogenous concept, as it has varying effects on firms' BuPE. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Corporate governance is essential for businesses, especially those with complex structures. This research examines the relationship between business group structures, corporate governance, and business performance in Vietnam, providing theoretical insights and practical management recommendations. Analyzing data from over 100 of the largest listed companies on the Vietnam Exchange AllShare, the study used the Fixed Effects Model, Random Effects Model, and Feasible Generalized Least Square estimations to assess the impact of business groups on governance and performance. The study reveals a positive but relatively weak impact of expanding the scale of business groups on the quality of corporate governance and business efficiency. Audit Committees, Independent Directors, and company size positively influence governance quality, while liquidity has a negative impact. Similarly, these factors positively affect business efficiency, whereas financial leverage has an inverse relationship. This research enhances the understanding of how business group structures influence corporate governance and business efficiency in Vietnam. It underscores the importance of good governance principles to improve accountability, transparency, and protect stakeholder interests, highlighting the positive role of certain governance structures in enhancing business efficiency.
