Neighbourhood commercial centres (NCC) are dynamic hubs that provide essential goods, promote community bonds and drive economic growth. Despite numerous studies on shopping behaviour, there remains a notable gap in understanding how transportation and shopping centre-related factors collectively shape the attractiveness of the NCCs, especially in developing countries like India. This research aims to understand why some NCCs outperform others in terms of attractiveness. This study proposes the neighbourhood commercial centre attractiveness index (NCCAI), which is developed by collecting 455 samples from 13 NCCs with the help of a primary survey to understand how different factors influence the attractiveness of NCCs in the Indian planned city context. The study used principal component analysis (PCA) and identified five major components that significantly contribute to NCC's attractiveness. Further, the weightage of the components was determined through two distinct approaches: one based on PCA results and the other utilising the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) with expert opinion data. Finally, the more reliable weights from these two methodologies were selected using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The NCCAI can help urban planners, store owners and retail managers, providing data-driven insights to enhance overall NCC attractiveness. The lasing and photostability characteristics of Rhodamine 6G and Pyrromethene 567 dyes dispersed in polymeric host materials have been investigated as a function of the intensities of incident pump and signal beams in a longitudinally pumped dye laser in an oscillator-amplifier configuration. A substantial reduction in the rate of photodegradation was observed under lasing conditions and with increasing signal intensity in a dye amplifier, establishing that the service lives of these materials improve with an increase in the rate of stimulated emission. We observed -62% amplifier efficiency at 2 Hz operation and 10% reduction in amplifier efficiency at 10 Hz operation after exposure of 72,000 pulses by use of a Pyrromethene disk.

The resorcin[4]arene host compound 2,8,14,20-tetrapentadecylpentadecylpentacyclo [19.3.1.1.(super 3,7)1(super 9,13)1(super 15,19)]octacosa-1 (25),3,5,7(28),9,11,13(27),15,17,19(26),21,23-dodecaene-4,6,10,12,16,18,22,24-octol is shown to form charge-transfer complex with a series of electron acceptors including [60]- and [70]fullerenes.

Both [60]- and[70] fullerences form 1:1 supramolecular complexes with the calixarenes. Calixarene 3 forms a stronger inclusion complex due to preorganization.

Abstract Background The present study was undertaken to evaluate the potential of the rhizomes of the Indian medicinal plant, Picrorhiza kurroa in healing indomethacin-induced acute stomach ulceration in mice and examine its capacity to modulate oxidative stress and the levels of prostaglandin (PGE2) and EGF during the process. Methods Male swiss albino mice, ulcerated with indomethacin (18 mg/kg, p. o., single dose) were treated up to 7 days with different doses of the methanol extract of P. kurroa rhizomes (designated as PK). The healing capacity of the most effective dose of PK (20 mg/kg, p. o. × 3 d) was compared with that of omeprazole (Omez) (3 mg/kg, p. o. × 3 d). The effects of the drug-treatment for one and three days on the biochemical parameters were assessed by comparing the results with that of untreated mice of the 1st and 3rd day of ulceration. The stomach tissues of the mice were used for the biochemical analysis. Results The macroscopic indices revealed maximum ulceration on the 3rd day after indomethacin administration, which was effectively healed by PK. Under the optimized treatment regime, PK and Omez reduced the ulcer indices by 45.1% (P < 0.01), and 76.3% respectively (P < 0.001), compared to the untreated ulcerated mice. Compared to the ulcerated untreated mice, those treated with PK for 3 days showed decreased the levels of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) (32.7%, P < 0.05) and protein carbonyl (37.7%, P < 0.001), and increased mucin (42.2%, P < 0.01), mucosal PGE2 (21.4%, P < 0.05), and expressions of COX-1 and 2 (26.9% and 18.5%, P < 0.05), EGF (149.0%, P < 0.001) and VEGF (56.9%, P < 0.01). Omez reduced the TBARS (29.4%, P < 0.05), and protein carbonyl (38.9%, P < 0.001), and increased mucin (38.3%, P < 0.01), without altering the other parameters significantly. Conclusion PK (20 mg/kg, p. o. × 3 days) could effectively heal indomethacin-induced stomach ulceration in mice by reducing oxidative stress, and promoting mucin secretion, prostaglandin synthesis and augmenting expressions of cyclooxygenase enzymes and growth factors.
