Abstract

The problem of inaccurate results was presented based on irregular shell finite element analysis using traditional modeling methods,a finite element modeling method was presented based on simplified of transmission components. The paper introduced the bearings,gears and fasteners of simplified model method. For example,finite element analysis of automobile main reducer shell based on finite element software environment. Two finite element analysis models were established based on traditional method and simplify component method; Comparing simulation results of the two models found: stress distribution on the overall trend of automobile main reducer Shell was the same,but the value of the local area to install the bearing stress positions were quite different. Stress tests show in 100 N. m,200 N. m and 400 N. m of input torque main reducer: Simplified model approach closer to actual value of test results,verify the correctness and accuracy of the method.

Abstract

Reasonably foreseeable misuse by persons, as a primary aspect of safety of the intended functionality (SOTIF), has a significant effect on cooperation performance for lane keeping. This paper presents a novel human–machine cooperative control scheme with consideration of SOTIF issues caused by driver error. It is challenging to balance lane keeping performance and driving freedom when driver error occurs. A safety evaluation strategy is proposed for safety supervision, containing assessments of driver error and lane departure risk caused by driver error. A dynamic evaluation model of driver error is designed based on a typical driver model in the loop to deal with the uncertainty and variability of driver behavior. Additionally, an extension model is established for determining the cooperation domain. Then, an authority allocation strategy is proposed to generate a dynamic shared authority and achieve an adequate balance between lane keeping performance and driving freedom. Finally, a model predictive control (MPC)-based controller is designed for calculating optimal steering angle, and a steer-by-wheel (SBW) system is employed as an actuator. Numerical simulation tests are conducted on driver error scenarios based on the CarSim and MATLAB/Simulink software platforms. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

22. Stiffness-damping matching method of an ECAS system based on LQG control

Abstract

A novel method of matching stiffness and continuous variable damping of an ECAS (electronically controlled air suspension) based on LQG (linear quadratic Gaussian) control was proposed to simultaneously improve the road-friendliness and ride comfort of a two-axle school bus. Taking account of the suspension nonlinearities and target-height-dependent variation in suspension characteristics, a stiffness model of the ECAS mounted on the drive axle of the bus was developed based on thermodynamics and the key parameters were obtained through field tests. By determining the proper range of the target height for the ECAS of the fully-loaded bus based on the design requirements of vehicle body bounce frequency, the control algorithm of the target suspension height (i.e., stiffness) was derived according to driving speed and road roughness. Taking account of the nonlinearities of a continuous variable semi-active damper, the damping force was obtained through the subtraction of the air spring force from the optimum integrated suspension force, which was calculated based on LQG control. Finally, a GA (genetic algorithm)-based matching method between stepped variable damping and stiffness was employed as a benchmark to evaluate the effectiveness of the LQG-based matching method. Simulation results indicate that compared with the GA-based matching method, both dynamic tire force and vehicle body vertical acceleration responses are markedly reduced around the vehicle body bounce frequency employing the LQG-based matching method, with peak values of the dynamic tire force PSD (power spectral density) decreased by 73.6%, 60.8% and 71.9% in the three cases, and corresponding reduction are 71.3%, 59.4% and 68.2% for the vehicle body vertical acceleration. A strong robustness to variation of driving speed and road roughness is also observed for the LQG-based matching method.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of suspension parameters on dynamic load-sharing of longitudinal-connected air suspensions of a tri-axle semi-trailer. A novel nonlinear model of a multi-axle semi-trailer with longitudinal-connected air suspension was formulated based on fluid mechanics and thermodynamics and was validated through test results. The effects of suspension parameters on dynamic load-sharing and road-friendliness of the semi-trailer were analyzed. Simulation results indicate that the road-friendliness metric DLC (Dynamic Load Coefficient), is generally in accordance with the load-sharing metric - DLSC (Dynamic Load Sharing Coefficient). When the static height or static pressure increases, the DLSC optimization ratio declines monotonically. The effect of employing larger air lines and connectors on the DLSC optimization ratio gives varying results as road roughness increases and as driving speed increases. The results also indicate that if the air line diameter is always assumed to be larger than the connector diameter, the influence of air line diameter on load-sharing is more significant than that of the connector.

Abstract

The exist researches of the magneto-rheological semi-active suspension(MSAS) control mainly focus on the design of control laws,which aim at obtaining an optimal control strategy to improve the ride comfort and handling stability.In the controller design,the stability of the MSAS system cannot be confirmed owing to the control input time delay considered little.In this paper,a quarter vehicle MSAS model with time-delay is built.Therefore,through formulating the sprung mass acceleration suitably as the optimization object,suspension deflection and tyre dynamic load and coulomb damping force as the constraint objects,with considering the control input time-delay,a delay-dependent state feedback H2/H∞ controller is designed.According to Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional theory,the sufficient conditions for asymptotic stability and the existence of delay-dependent H2/H∞ controller are obtained,and the controller design is transformed into the minimization problem for linear function through linear matrix inequality(LMI).Random road excitation simulations and experiments are carried out.The simulation and experiment results show that the design can preserve the closed-loop stability and achieve the performances for MSAS system in spite of the existence of the control input time-delay.The present study can provide an important basis and method for research on time-delay problem in MSAS and other chassis subsystems..

Abstract

Current research on lane-keeping systems ignores the effect of the driver and external resistance on the accuracy of tracking the lane centerline. To reduce the lateral deviation of the vehicle, a lane-keeping control method based on the fuzzy Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) model is proposed. The method adopts a driver model based on near and far visual angles, and a driver-road-vehicle closed-loop model based on longitudinal nonlinear velocity variation, obtaining the expected assist torque with a robust H∞ controller which is designed based on parallel distributed compensation and linear matrix inequality. Considering the external influences of tire adhesion and aligning torque when the vehicle is steering, a feedforward compensation control is designed. The electric power steering system is adopted as the actuator for lane-keeping, and active steering redressing is realized by a control motor. Simulation results based on Carsim/Simulink and real vehicle test results demonstrate that the method helps to maintain the vehicle in the lane centerline and ensures driving safety.
