The mango tree presents a high level of fruit abscission, which is increased in semiarid regions due to environmental stress. The use of biostimulants and phytoregulators has shown to be a promising strategy to improve fruit setting. Thus, the present study defined the best strategy for setting and development of the fruit, with the application of phytoregulators and biostimulants on the 'Keitt' mango tree, cultivated in the São Francisco Valley. Two experiments were performed. In experiment 1, a randomized block design was used, with four treatments T1: control, T2: gibberellic acid (AG3) + 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), T3: AG3 + 2,4-D+Benzyladenine, T4: Biostimulant + CoMo® (sources of cobalt and molybdenum). In experiment 2, the factorial scheme (2 ×3 + 1) distributed in randomized blocks was established, corresponding to two forms of potassium fertilization (recommended and adjusted), three gibberellin concentrations (0, 10 and 20 mg L-1) and additional treatment (control - recommended potassium fertilization and no setting strategy). The variables analyzed include the relative number of fruits, the number of fruits for domestic and foreign markets, productive potential, production, productivity, fruit volume, fruit mass, and the yield of peel, pulp and stone. The application of 10 mg L-1 AG3 + 10 mg L-1 2,4-D + 10 mg L-1 Benzyladenine in full flowering of the 'Keitt' mango tree, increased the setting and the production of the fruit. Regardless of fertilization, sequential applications at 10 or 20 mg L-1 of AG3 proved to be an effective strategy to produce 'Keitt' mango tree. Argentina's energy matrix is highly dependent on hydrocarbons, but domestic production has not been able to supply the domestic market, resulting in trade deficits and permanent foreign exchange outflows. In this context, the Kirchner administrations conducted several economic reforms, one of the axes of which was the recovery of the leading role of the State in order to achieve energy sovereignty. This series of reforms was modified before the arrival of the liberal Mauricio Macri to the presidency but was partially reinstated by the government of Alberto Fernandez in 2020. This paper aims to analyze whether successive governments have mitigated the underinvestment and external dependence of the Argentine energy sector and the limitations of such policies. Due to the development of new breweries and the expansion of existing malt factories, malt barley has become a highly demanded-commercial crop in Ethiopia. However, present efforts to increase malt barley productivity and supply have not been able to meet the domestic market's needs. As a result, the scaling of climate-adapted malt barley varieties with its production package was done at North Shewa Amhara Ethiopia during the 2018 and 2019 main production seasons. In the first phase, HB1963, HB1964, Fanaka, and Ibon 174/03 were planted on seven farmers' farms and evaluated by randomly selected 84 farmers using their selection criteria. The analysis of variance result showed that the highest yield was obtained from HB1963 (3.138 t/ha), followed by Ibon 174/03 (3.059 t/ha), HB1964 (2.324 t/ha) and Fanaka (2.123 t/ha). The cost–benefit analysis also revealed that the highest net benefit to total cost ratios was obtained from HB1963, followed by Ibon-174/03, HB1964, and Fanaka. In the second phase, the chosen varieties were scaled up in a clustered base on 12.3 hectares of land by participating 31 smallholder farmers during the main production season. Continuous field monitoring and evaluation were done by concerned experts and local farmers. The scale-up varieties, HB1963 and HB1964 gave 19.56% and 28.61% yield advantages over the local check respectively. The study's policy recommendations included expanding the use of high-yielding and well-adapted malt barley varieties, supporting both the formal and informal seed systems, and encouraging the malt barley producers and the domestic market to substitute imports. The performance of foreign investors relative to domestic investors has been a subject of mixed evidence. While foreign investors are often perceived to underperform due to an information disadvantage, they are also known for their aggressive trading and superior performance in initiated orders. We provide further clarity on this issue. Specifically, by analyzing over five million transactions on the Jakarta Stock Exchange, our findings reveal that foreign investors consistently outperform domestic investors in terms of both annualized returns and profit amounts. Further investigation attributes this outperformance to the higher sophistication of foreign investors, who demonstrate superior stock-picking abilities and effective growth investing strategies. Futures trading analysis plays a pivotal role in the development of macroeconomic policies and corporate strategy planning. High-frequency futures data, typically presented as time series, contain valuable historical patterns. To address challenges such as non-stationary in modeling futures prices, we propose a novel architecture called FuturesNet, which uses an InceptionTime module to capture the short-term fluctuations between ask and bid orders, as well as a long-short-term-memory (LSTM) module with skip connections to capture long-term temporal dependencies. We evaluated the performance of FuturesNet using datasets numbered 50, 300, and 500 from the domestic financial market. The comprehensive experimental results show that FuturesNet outperforms other competitive baselines in most settings. Hydrangea macrophylla (H. macrophylla), a species in the genus Hydrangea in the family Hydrangeaceae, is widely valued for its ornamental qualities in both domestic and international markets. Notably, H. macrophylla is known for its ability to accumulate aluminum (Al). Moreover, aluminum ions (Al3+) participate in sepal bluing. However, the underlying mechanisms of Al accumulation in the sepals remain unclear. In this study, we utilized transcriptome data from two cultivars to identify genes associated with Al accumulation. In total, 154 differentially expressed isoforms between the CK and Tr groups in the sepals of both cultivars were screened. Through gene enrichment analysis and similarity identification in the CDS (coding sequence) region, 43 differentially expressed genes were identified, including 30 upregulated and 13 downregulated genes, in the sepals of the Al treatment group. Further analysis revealed that seven of these upregulated genes are related to Al accumulation in sepals. Among the seven, the gene HmALS3.1 was identified as a potential key player in Al transport within the sepals of H. macrophylla. This study lays the groundwork for further exploration into the mechanisms by which HmALS3.1 regulates Al accumulation in H. macrophylla. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Malaysia is currently experiencing the same scenario as other countries, as the majority of consumers have shifted their preferences from locally produced rice to imported rice. This has resulted in a significant influx of imported rice into the domestic markets. Food security in the long term cannot be achieved by depending on imported food. Therefore, countries must make an effort to develop high-quality rice to meet the demand of customers. The study aimed to evaluate the grain physical traits and physicochemical properties of 30 Malaysian rice landraces to optimize the use of rice landraces in breeding programs. The grain physical traits were evaluated according to grain size, grain shape, and kernel elongation. Meanwhile, the physicochemical properties were determined by amylose content, alkali spreading value, and gel consistency. The grain length ranged from 4.14 to 8.16 mm and the grain width varied between 1.76 and 2.81 mm. The grain shapes were categorized into three types: medium, long and slender, and bold. Most of the rice landraces exhibited a low amylose content ranging from 16.07 to 19.83, while intermediate amylose content ranged from 20.00 to 23.80. The alkali spreading value showed that most of the rice landraces require an intermediate cooking time. The gel consistency exhibited a wide range, varying from soft to hard. The gel consistency exhibited the highest phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variance, with values of 42.44% and 41.88%, respectively. Most of the studied traits except for kernel elongation were identified as having high heritability and high genetic advance as a percentage of the mean. A dendrogram effectively revealed the genetic relationships among Malaysian rice landraces by generating three distinct clusters. Cluster I was primarily composed of glutinous rice landraces with a low to very low amylose content and exhibited the highest mean values for gel consistency and kernel elongation. Cluster II consisted of 13 rice landraces that had the highest mean value for milled grain length and grain shape. Cluster III was composed of rice landraces and control rice cultivars, and they exhibited the highest mean values for alkali spreading value, amylose content, and milled grain width. Bokilong, Kolomintuhon, Silou, Tutumoh, and Bidor in Cluster III exhibited comparable physicochemical properties and cooking quality traits as the control rice cultivars. Rising fossil energy prices have sparked interest in biofuels, which has led to a closer link between biofuels and fossil energy markets. We apply a thermal optimal path approach based on daily returns to examine the lead‐lag correlation between three biomass futures and three energy futures for 2020–2022. The empirical results show that the biomass futures market first leads the energy futures market with a significant probability of 20–30 days. Second, the lead days decrease sharply after regional conflicts occur, and the link between the two markets strengthens. Third, the sequence of risk transmission between overseas and domestic energy markets changes, and domestic energy markets become more resilient. Finally, the epidemic disrupted the normal transmission of signals between markets, while regional conflicts reconstructed the links, and the transmission time was shorter. In the post‐Covid‐19 period, ongoing conflicts have synchronized risks between markets, further amplifying the possibility of crises. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the widespread popularity of electric vehicles in the domestic market, large‐scale electric vehicle user data has been collected and stored. Highly accurate user‐level charging load prediction has a wide range of application scenarios and great business value. However, most existing EV load prediction methods are modelled from the charging station perspective, ignoring the user's travel habits and charging demand. Therefore, this paper proposes a temporal spatial neural network based on graph attention and Autoformer to predict electric vehicle charging load. Firstly, the urban map of Wuhan is rasterized. Then, driving and charging data from the user level are aggregated into the raster module according to the time sequence, and a spatio‐temporal graph data structure of user travel trajectory is constructed. Finally, the temporal spatial neural network is used to construct the EV charging load prediction model from the user's perspective. The experimental results show that, compared with other baseline prediction methods, the proposed method effectively improves the accuracy of the EV charging load prediction model by fully exploiting the distribution of EV user clusters in time and geographic space. Mackerel is one of the most popular fish in Korea. However, the determinants of consumer purchase behaviors have not been identified, even though mackerel is an important fish to Korean consumers. This study aims to predict the determinants affecting consumer purchase intentions for mackerel in the Korean domestic market. For this, the author conducted a questionnaire survey, predicted the consumers' purchase intentions for mackerel using PLS-SEM (partial least squares structural equation modeling), and evaluated the predictions using the TPB (theory of planned behavior) model. Moreover, this study examined whether there is a difference in consumers' purchase intentions between Korean and Norwegian mackerel. As a result, it is identified that the quality and utility of exogenous constructs indirectly affected the purchase intention (PI) through attitude toward the behavior (AB). In addition, the PI was affected by the subject norm (SN), which was affected considerably by the industrial conditions (IC) of exogenous constructs. Furthermore, the PI was also influenced by perceived behavioral control (PBC), which has the strongest impact on the PI. However, the purchase determinants of consumers were not different between Korean and Norwegian mackerel. In conclusion, Korean consumers consider quality and utility when they purchase mackerel, and their positive attitude can help them make a purchasing decision. Moreover, the more they recognize the conditions of production, business, and culture, the higher their intention is to purchase mackerel because they are forming a positive social atmosphere. Furthermore, whether they have the financial leeway and repulsion also represents factors in their purchase intention for mackerel. In Kerala, the marketing organization is surrounded by conventional accoutrements and lacks by and large modern system of management. Several projects like co-operativization of production, processing and primary sale of fish were introduced to free the fishermen from the exploitation of middlemen. Even, after the initiation of these projects, auctioning of fish at various centres was largely controlled by the middlemen, who extracted a major share of the gross sale proceeds as auction charges. They often failed to pay the fishermen the promised prices when the deals were finally reconciled and the fishermen who are indebted to the middlemen have been absolutely vulnerable in exercising any control in the sale of fish landed by them. The goal of the study is to analyze the dynamics of meat production, import, export, availability for human consumption and self-sufficiency rate (SSR) in Romania in the period 2014-2022 based on the data provided by National Institute of Statistics. The empirical data were processed using the growth rate, trend regression equations, determination coefficient, illustrative graphical representations and tabled results for the indicators taken into consideration. The results highlighted that in the studied period, total meat production (in fresh meat equivalent), decreased by 22.5%, from 1,291.9 thousand tons in 2014 to 1,001.6 thousand tons in 2022. But, by meat sort, the situation is different as follows: bovine meat production declined by 8.9% and pork production by - 16.4%, while sheep and goat meat increased by 27.2% and poultry meat by 43.8%. The imported quantities of meat registered an ascending trend from 383.9 thousand tons in 2024 to 628.5% in 2022 (+63.7%). By meat sort, the imported amounts increased by 12.4% for beef, by 200% for pork, by 400% for sheep and goat meat and by 8.1% in case of poultry meat. In 2022, Romania exported 166.8 thousand tons meat meaning by 31.61% more than in 2014. By meat type, the exported amounts increased by 200% for bovine meat, by 86 % in case of sheep and goat meat, by 45.2% in case of poultry meat, but in case of pork declined by 36%. The meat availability for consumption increased by 22.4% from 1,150.6 thousand tons in 2014 to 1,463.3 thousand tons in 2022. For total meat, self-sufficiency rate (SSR) declined from 83.3% in 2014 to 68.4% in 2022. By meat sort, SSR went up for bovine meat accounting for 87.1% in 2022 versus 82.1% in 2014, for pork SSR went down to 45.4% in 2022 versus 70.2% in 2014, SSR for sheep and goat meat was 100% in 2022 versus 106% in 2014 and for poultry meat, SSR increased from 87.5% to 95.2% in the studied period. In 2022, a Romanian consumed in average 74 kg meat, of which 38 kg pork, 27.9 kg poultry meat, 5 kg beef and veal and 2.6 kg sheep and goat meat, much more than in 2014, except bovine meat. As a conclusion, imports sustain pork domestic market as production is not enough to cover the demand, but also in smaller amounts for the other meat types. The results of the effect of five different incubation temperatures on the development of clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) larvae are presented. This ornamental species is widely marketed worldwide and is reared in captivity at CIAD to meet the demand in the domestic market. The experimental work was carried out over 30 days post-hatching to observe the temperature's effect on the development of the larvae's vertebral column and caudal complex. The eggs were incubated at 26, 28, 30, 32, and 34°C. The percentage of hatching, survival, growth, and the presence of skeletal malformations were evaluated. Hatching and survival percentages did not show significant differences between treatments. Regarding growth, there were significant differences between treatments, with organisms showing slower growth at 26°C and larger sizes at 34°C. The highest percentage of malformations occurred in larvae cultured at 34°C, with lordosis being the most frequently observed deformity among the treatments. Therefore, it can be concluded that the optimal temperature range for cultivating and harvesting quality A. ocellaris organisms is between 28 and 30°C. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present study aimed to comprehensively elucidate and identify the entrepreneurial and goal-oriented strategies of sports startups entering both domestic and international markets. The research employed a qualitative method, falling under the category of exploratory studies in terms of objectives, foundational and applied research regarding outcomes, and was grounded in the postmodernism paradigm. The research population comprised experts in marketing, sports management, and successful entrepreneurs with experience in launching sports startups. Purposeful sampling was employed for participant selection. To construct the initial research tool, the researcher, after reviewing relevant studies on sports startups, developed a semi-structured questionnaire for in-depth interviews with experts. The research strategy followed a phenomenological approach, and data analysis was conducted using MaxQDA software, version 20. The results of the data analysis unveiled eight key concepts within the entrepreneurial strategies section, pertaining to the entry of sports startups into domestic and international markets. These concepts encompass partners, stakeholders and customers, tolerable loss, flexibility and adaptability, experiences, uncertainty, service quality, available financial resources, and operational strategies. These concepts were derived from the interviews, contributing to theoretical saturation. Despite heightened interest in brand transgressions among academics and practitioners, the literature remains silent about the influence of a brand's origin on consumer responses to brand misconduct. This leaves managers unaware of how to adapt post-transgression recovery strategies at home and abroad. Contrary to the in-group country bias literature, we theorize an "origin-backfire" effect: consumers forgive domestic brand transgressions less. Analyzing experimental, social media, and secondary-longitudinal data, we find that consumers treat domestic brand transgressors as home-country traitors deserving punishment. Social identity threats mediate this effect and consumer ethnocentrism attenuates it. Transgressions' damage on brand reputation and value is larger and takes longer to recover from in domestic markets. Managers can alleviate post-transgression backlash through communication framing that construes the transgression as a response to intergroup threats (in foreign markets) and through collective compensation strategies (in domestic markets). Under the terms of the European Green Deal, including the transition to a green economy, decarbonisation, and a sustainable model of inclusive growth, Ukraine has committed itself to achieving climate neutrality by 2060. The military challenges caused by Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine require an in-depth investigation and substantiation of mechanisms for developing promising areas of deep processing of domestic agricultural raw materials to ensure food security, domestic market development, and post-war economic recovery. The purpose of this study was to analyse and assess the potential for processing Ukrainian maize in the context of bioeconomy development, specifically to produce starch, bioplastics, and bioethanol. The study was conducted using a systematic approach with extrapolation methods, exponential smoothing, and confidence interval construction to assess the forecast. It was proved that Ukraine has all the opportunities to increase the production of a wider product line of deeply processed maize products. Realising the potential of maize processing as a biological and energy feedstock in the Ukrainian economy for post-war recovery depends on the creation of an innovative bioeconomy infrastructure, through strengthening strategic partnerships between agricultural producers, research institutions and public authorities, cluster development and export promotion. The practical value of this study lies in the developed recommendations for the implementation of maize processing opportunities for the development of the bioeconomy and acceleration of decarbonisation in Ukraine. This paper investigates the impact of Chinese firms' environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance on their financial constraint and financing activities. We find a negative association between firms' ESG performance and their financial constraint driven by the Chinese government's commitment to tackling climate change. Compared with state‐owned enterprises (SOEs), non‐SOEs have alleviated their financial constraint through both equity and debt issuance, thanks to the stock price appreciation and green credit. High‐pollution firms benefit from both equity and debt issuance, while low‐pollution firms mainly finance through equity issuance. The Russian-Ukrainian war has become a significant factor that has prompted millions of Ukrainian citizens to migrate in search of safety. The demographic situation in Ukraine is deteriorating in both quantitative and qualitative dimensions. The mentioned changes are impacting the domestic and European labour markets. The article examines the consequences of war migration of the population for domestic and European labour markets. The study covers the period between 2013 and 2023. Empirical research methods were use in the article: observation, comparison, generalization, forecasting. Ukrainian migrants presently comprise approximately 1% of the population in European Union countries and represent 15% of Ukraine's overall demographic composition. The prevailing inclination among the majority of these migrants is not to return to Ukraine in the immediate future, with the principal determinant being identified as the prevailing sense of peril. Notably, within the age structure of Ukrainian migrants, a significant 81.2% fall within the economically productive age bracket of 18-49 years. This demographic composition sets the stage for a positive economic effect within the European Union, while concurrently engendering adverse repercussions for the domestic labour market in Ukraine. A three-year projection regarding the migration volumes of Ukrainians to the European Union has been delineated. Drawing upon post-war reconstruction experiences worldwide and taking into account the critical demographic landscape in Ukraine, a proposition has been put forth to synergize efforts among the government, international organizations, and donors. This collaborative endeavour seeks to establish a financial fund, wherein resources will be allocated towards the formulation of recommendations and the subsequent design and implementation of programs aimed at the restoration of the domestic labour market. The world has been rapidly globalizing, starting with communication protocols in 1970 and continuing today with internet technologies, and in the future, tools known as artificial intelligence and the metaverse. It is observed that technological change, especially in a high-uncertainty and hyper-competitive environment, has transformed more rapidly compared to past decades, directly affecting daily lives. This environment is described as economic, financial, and commercial globalization for companies and governments. Governments' development policies are encouraging companies that are Glocalization (think globally, act locally), transitioning from local to global, and benefiting the local areas, aligned with the investment strategies of companies in the home country. Our study examines concepts and relationships through a literature review within the theoretical framework of Dunning's eclectic paradigm, Porter's diamond model, Williamson's transaction cost theory, and strategic behavior theories. In the mentioned competitive environment, companies make their investment decisions outside their home countries considering four motives (resource seeking, efficiency seeking, market seeking, and strategic asset seeking). The aim of this study is to explain, from a competition perspective, why companies that want to gain competitive advantage in a globalizing world or avoid competition in the domestic market are investing out of their home countries. Planned to be conducted in 61 countries across 6 continents, according to the OECD classification, this study aims to contribute both to the companies' outward foreign direct investment decisions and to policymakers' process of creating sustainable development policies. Tuna products are among the most popular seafoods in the world and widely traded across the globe. China is a major contributor to the worldwide tuna industry as both a producer and an exporter. Employing the Constant Market Share model, this study examines the factors influencing the variations in China's tuna exports from 2002 to 2022, focusing on global, country, and product type levels. Results show that (1) China's expanded tuna exporting trade is partially due to the rising worldwide demand for tuna, which is mostly prominent in China's tuna exports to the USA, Vietnam, and Malaysia, as well as its exports of frozen tuna products. (2) China's competitive edge in tuna exports has steadily strengthened in most of its principal exporting markets, especially in Japan and the fresh tuna markets. Nevertheless, the competitiveness structure of Chinese tuna exports has challenges in satisfying the diverse requirements of different nations (regions) for various types of tuna products. (3) The second-order effect has been the primary driver of the expansion in Chinese tuna exports, with its contribution rate consistently rising in recent years. In response to the changes in international and domestic tuna markets, China must implement strategies to maximize the potential of the tuna importing market, further improve its global competitiveness, enhance communication and coordination among domestic and international tuna stakeholders, and cultivate domestic tuna markets. The study is devoted to the problems of the organization of the transition of the enterprise to the concept of performance-marketing, which allows to achieve stabilization of the financial stability of the enterprise in modern conditions. The purpose of the article is to investigate the essence of the concept of performance marketing and to develop a mechanism for the enterprise's transition to performance marketing as a condition for ensuring its financial stability. The article provides a description of the historical basis of the formation of domestic performance marketing and reveals its features and differences from other types of marketing. A definition of performance marketing and its basic principles is offered. Systematized performance marketing tools. The peculiarities of the company's transition to the performance concept are substantiated. The restraining factors of the development of the performance concept at the enterprise are analyzed. A system for evaluating the effectiveness of engagement channels has been developed. The proposed road map for the transition of the enterprise to performance marketing. A mechanism for transition to a performance approach in the company has been developed. The algorithm for building end-to-end analytics as the basis of performance marketing is described. The substantiation of the features of ensuring financial stability with performance-marketing tools has been carried out. The role of performance marketing at each stage of ensuring the financial stability of the enterprise is defined. In the article, it is proven that the implementation of performance marketing will provide an opportunity to increase the company's financial stability and to apply an exceptional strategy for optimizing the company's financial development, analyze and use the necessary financial parameters, based on the acceleration of the general economic development of the enterprise. The garment production in Ukraine is an export-oriented industry. European countries, with the share of 90%, are the major partners in readymade clothes export. Ukrainian regions with the highest export capacity are determined by calculating the location quotient and export orientation level. The competitive advantages of domestic companies are revealed based on the SWOT analysis. The features of the garment industry as a complex system are examined using the methods of cognitive analysis. The expert survey of the garment enterprises revealed opportunities to expand their share within and beyond domestic market as well as prospects for increasing added value in the total export volume. Despite being one of the world's primary producers, Indonesia faces challenges in increasing mango exports. The government has been promoting mango exports to boost economic growth in the agricultural sector. The purpose of this study is to identify opportunities and challenges that are associated with increasing mango exports from Indonesia. We conducted a qualitative assessment through in-depth interviews with 20 Indonesian mango exporters and government officials, to identify opportunities and challenges associated with increasing mango exports from Indonesia. Our findings reveal that the physical qualities demanded by export markets do not significantly differ from those required by modern domestic markets. We also found that despite global mango markets typically favouring red and yellow mango, there is potential for Harumanis, a sweet green mango variety primarily grown in Indonesia, to be exported to East Asia and several Eastern European countries, which also do not require strict non-physical requirements for imported mangoes. However, the shortage of export-quality mangoes from the on-farm level hinders this effort, together with the lack of advanced postharvest and logistics management, and the absence of quality certification. We recommend to improving physical quality and meeting non-physical requirements, such as certification, at every level of the mango industry value chain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

What motivates private firms' willingness to invest in green technologies and environmentally friendly operations? Some emphasize enhanced government regulation and enforcement, while others point to the greater potential of societal pressure. In this study, we use a survey experiment with more than 10,000 firms in Vietnam to test which type of stakeholder pressure has the strongest impact on domestic and foreign business leaders' intention to invest in green operations. We find that the effectiveness of stakeholder pressure is conditioned by the firms' target markets. Foreign investors are more susceptible than domestic firms to intensive regulatory pressure. Accounting for export orientation, however, we find that the most amenable policy targets for regulatory pressure are foreign firms aiming to sell in the Vietnamese domestic market. The purpose of the article is to consider tools for the development of enterprises that are subjects of foreign economic activity (FEA). The consequences of the war against Ukraine create a compelling need for the development of the national Ukrainian economy. Analyzing the foreign experience of different countries in the post-war period indicates that export activities are one of the most reasonable vectors for such development, both at the level of individual enterprises and at the level of the national economy as a whole. Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats have been identified for Ukrainian enterprises operating in the field of foreign economic activity. It is shown that the number of threats has increased compared to the pre-war period. Despite the significant number of threats and weaknesses, the analysis shows that Ukrainian enterprises have a "window of opportunities" that can be effectively used. Using dichotomous criteria for the possibility of entering foreign markets and the potential of the domestic market, a matrix of strategic choice has been developed. This matrix is intended for use at the level of individual enterprises. A reasonable strategic choice for the enterprise is determined for each quadrant of this matrix in the general version, and industry-specific recommendations are considered. Based on formulated key questions, necessary development tasks are identified for enterprises as subjects of foreign economic activity. These tasks include strategic goal setting, determination of the competitive advantage used, and development of the enterprise strategy. Necessary management tools are proposed and described for the implementation of each of these tasks. A set of key questions has been developed for the chosen model of enterprise development strategy to determine the content of the elements of such a strategy. In this paper, an output dynamic game model of intertwined supply chains operating in two different countries is established. The Nash equilibrium point of the model and its stable region are obtained using nonlinear dynamic principles. The complex properties of the system, such as stability, period-doubling bifurcations, and chaos, are investigated using numerical simulations. Our results suggest that the level of output and the system's profits undergo bifurcation and chaos with an increase in the output adjustment speed. An interesting phenomenon occurs in that higher tariffs lead to the expansion of the stable range of the supply chain in the product-exporting country. The chaotic behavior of the system is sensitive to the value of the initial level of output. In supply chain competition, each supply chain firm should make suitable adjustments to the speed of output. To maintain the stability of domestic markets, excessive tariffs should be avoided. It is essential that each supply chain firm evaluates the potential impacts of different initial output values when making initial decisions. Using the method of delayed feedback control, the chaotic behavior of the system can effectively be controlled. Although a large part of Brazilian cocoa production is destinated to the domestic market, the international trade is responsible to that add more value to the product and increased income in the supply chain. In this study we aimed to analyze the short and long-term effects of prices and production on Brazilian cocoa exports. We gathered data from 1994 to 2022, we tested the existence of cointegration between the variables export, price and cocoa production using the Johansen test, then estimated a Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The results confirmed the existence of at least one cointegration vector. It was noted that the price, production, and exports of the previous year have a positive impact on contemporary exports. Shocks and deviations in the market tend to be corrected in the long term at a rate of 29.1% per year. Considering the necessary adjustment time, changes in the external market can influence internal availability, therefore, adding value to the supply chain and improving production systems are important for the cocoa production sector. The Department of Commerce (DOC) uses differential pricing analysis in order to detect whether a foreign exporter dumps goods in the U.S. market at prices lower than the exporter sells the goods for in its domestic market. A dumping duty is then levied on the exporter, the amount of which depends on the dumping margin. Several recent cases at the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals have challenged the DOC's methodology on statistical grounds. In this article, the DOC's procedure for calculating the dumping margin is described in detail, including the rules for the controversial zeroing policy. We study the labor market effects of domestic migration in Indonesia. To address the endogeneity of migrants' settlement decisions, we use an internal migration version of the Bartik shift-share instrument based on information about historical migration patterns from the Indonesian censuses. The multi-instrument approach we use allows us to account for persistent effects of past migration that could otherwise violate the exclusion restriction. We find that internal migration is associated with an increase in migrant employment and a decrease in native employment. Less educated natives in low-education regencies are most affected. Policies looking to minimize the adverse effects of internal migration should aim at improving the human capital of the natives. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

At present, the national infrastructure construction market contains enormous opportunities and challenges, and the competition in the highway market is particularly evident. By elaborating the classification and construction process of highway construction, based on the overall situation of highway construction in the end of the 13th Five Year Plan and the highway policies in the 14th Five Year Plan in China, data analysis and comparison methods were adopted to analyze the market operation situation of major construction enterprises and the current main cooperation models in the market. Research results show that, the current domestic highway market is generally stable, and the construction of trunk roads has been saturated. There is a market demand for strengthening the highway chain network, which has led to the transformation of the domestic infrastructure industry towards green and intelligent directions. Based on the above analysis, operational suggestions were proposed from the aspects of supplementing and strengthening the shortcomings of operational elements, optimizing operational layout, and optimizing business models. First, the enterprise should rely on the advantages of the railway market, promoting the construction of a comprehensive transportation hub market that integrates railways, highways, water transportation, etc. Second, the enterprise should expand business development areas and extend the highway market based on new urbanization and rural revitalization. This paper uses firm-level data to investigate the resilience of the Portuguese wine sector’s domestic market in the aftermath of the exogenous shock arising from Covid-19. To address this objective, this article applies a fractional response model. The results allow us to confirm that the impact of the pandemic crisis depends on firm structure and behaviour reflected by variables such as firm size, age, export intensity, market channel as well as on the geographic location of firms. This suggests the need for the development of innovative regional clusters and calls for managers and policymakers to consider the heterogeneity of wineries and dissimilar effects of contingency measures at the municipal level during an exogenous shock. In this study, we examined the price transmission dynamics and market integration among domestic markets for Uganda's major staple foods (matoke, maize, and beans) utilizing the Granger causality analysis, bounds test, Wald test for long- and short-run asymmetry, and the nonlinear ARDL model. Among the key findings, the causal order between wholesale and retail commodity prices flows unidirectionally forward from the wholesale to the retail level across all markets. Wholesale and retail prices for Uganda's staple foods are interlinked in all markets, and spatially separated markets are also well integrated. The Wald test revealed asymmetric price transmission (APT) in speed alone for the pairs wholesale and retail prices of matoke in Kampala, and wholesale prices of matoke in Mbarara with Kampala retail prices, both APT in magnitude and APT in speed for the pairs wholesale and retail prices of beans in Kampala, wholesale and retail prices of maize in Masindi, and wholesale prices of beans in Masindi with wholesale and retail prices in Kampala. We also found that in the long run, retail prices respond more strongly to wholesale price increases than decreases, an implication of positive APT in the marketing supply chain of Uganda's major staples. This may be linked to information asymmetry between traders and consumers, traders' adjustment costs, production levels, inventory management, and the market power of retailers. We thus concluded that final consumers are more likely to experience an increase rather than a decrease in the prices of staples at the retail level, while retailers are more likely to benefit from price decreases at the wholesale level. Export activities represent one of the prerequisites for the growth and development of economies. In combination with new digital technologies, they create a sustainable advantage and competitiveness in the market. The focus of this research was to determine whether there is a significant difference and connection between the absorptive capacity of accepting new technologies and its influence on financial performance in the domestic and foreign markets. The relationship between the absorptive capacity of the application of new technologies and its influence on financial performance was investigated in a sample of Croatian companies. Structural equation modelling was used to investigate the relationship between absorptive capacity and financial performance. The results of the research confirm a statistically significant relationship between the absorptive capacity of accepting new technologies and its influence on the financial performance of export companies. The analysis revealed that absorptive capacity significantly impacts the financial performance of Croatian export companies, with a stronger influence observed in foreign markets compared to domestic ones. These findings suggest that investing in the ability to absorb and apply new technologies is crucial for enhancing financial outcomes, particularly in the global marketplace. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Warm temperatures and drought conditions in the United States (US) Corn Belt in 2012 raised concern for widespread aflatoxin (AFL) contamination in Iowa corn. To identify the prevalence of AFL in the 2012 corn crop, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) conducted a sample of Iowa corn to assess the incidence and severity of AFL contamination. Samples were obtained from grain elevators in all of Iowa's 99 counties, representing nine crop reporting districts (CRD), and 396 samples were analyzed by IDALS using rapid test methods. The statewide mean for AFL in parts per billion (ppb) was 5.57 ppb. Regions of Iowa differed in their incidence levels, with AFL levels significantly higher in the Southwest (SW; mean 15.13 ppb) and South Central (SC; mean 10.86 ppb) CRD (p < 0.05) regions of Iowa. This sampling demonstrated high variability among samples collected within CRD and across the entire state of Iowa in an extreme weather event year. In years when Iowa has AFL contamination in corn, there is a need for a proactive and preventive strategy to minimize hazards in domestic and export markets. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Since the early 2000s, many private companies, public-private coalitions, and governments have committed to remove deforestation from commodity supply chains. Despite these zero-deforestation commitments (ZDCs), high rates of deforestation persist and may even be increasing. On the upside, a few region- and commodity-specific ZDCs have contributed to reductions by up to hundreds of thousands of hectares of deforestation, with mixed evidence on associated leakage. ZDCs have also spurred progress in monitoring, traceability, and awareness of deforestation. On the downside, as currently implemented, supply chain initiatives only cover a small share of tropical deforestation. Government- and company-led ZDCs are just two components of broader policy mixes aimed at reducing deforestation. To be more impactful, ZDCs needs to cover entire biomes, supply bases of companies, and export and domestic markets, with special attention not to exclude marginal producers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper explores the relationship between market size and economic development, specifically focusing on the transition from agriculture to manufacturing. The authors find that small market size is a constraint for economic development and that expansion into international markets or growth in domestic markets can help overcome this constraint. The paper also discusses the importance of demand-side policies and supply-side policies in promoting development, particularly for countries with a comparative advantage in primary sectors. Since the open-up policy at the end of the 1970s, China – the largest single market in Asia – received growing attention from foreign investors and banks. However, the fragile domestic market and undeveloped financial system in China did not allow a rapid inflow of foreign banks, given that the foreign banks could exert suppression on the domestic banks. As a result, it took several years for most foreign banks to gain a foothold in mainland China. This article demonstrates how Commerzbank – one of the German Big Three – entered the Chinese market in the 1980s by establishing a branch in Hong Kong and opening a representative office in Beijing. On the basis of archival evidence and other contemporary sources, the case of China provides one slice of the history of Commerzbank's expansion and illustrates how it coped with the surge of internationalisation in the 1980s. Current theories of financial regulation suggest expanding rules-based formal state intervention to promote international banking stability. Such policy solutions should then be global in scope. This article instead argues that principles-based informal co- and self-regulation through domestic (gentlemen's) agreements underpinned West German bank internationalisation until the 1980s. The analytic narrative approach allows the tracing of the social dynamics of the German politics of regulation, drawing on unused primary sources: Coalitions between the German regulating and regulated actors were bolstered by a liberal domestic framework and bespoke national policies. In contrast, regulatory harmonisation through international prudential standards came with high domestic adjustment costs for the German banking sector. The subject of this article's analysis is the position of the Slovak food industry on the domestic and foreign markets. The period under review was 2015-2019. The identification of the share of Slovak products in the retail network was carried out on the basis of two methodological approaches, which are based on statistically available data, one in financial and the other in kind terms. Research results show that the food industry in the Slovak Republic is thriving, with revenues exceeding costs in the long term. Labour productivity from added value, which is an important economic indicator of the industry's competitiveness, grows over time, which is caused by a decrease in the workforce. On the domestic market, it is a priority to resist the pressure of foreign imports and to increase the share of Slovak products in domestic retail network. The low competitiveness of Slovak food products is reflected in the massive import of substitutable food products that can be produced domestically. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this study was to analyze the dynamics of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Export (E) and Import (I) in Romania and also in its agro-food sector in the last decade 2013-2022 and to quantify the relationships between these macroeconomic indicators using the data provided by National Institute of Statistics. The methodology used in this study included; fixed basis and structural indices, growth rate, statistical econometric modeling using regression equations, coefficient of correlations, coefficient of determination, comparison and illustrative methods. In 2022 versus 2013, Romania's GDP accounted for Euro 285,884.8 Million (doubled), export raised by 85.51% and reached Euro 91,944 Million, imports accounted for Euro 126,034.07 Million (2.27 times higher) and the deficit of trade balance reached Euro -34,101 Million, being 5.92 times higher. The regression equations quantified the impact of the determinants on GDP as follows: an increase in E value by one unit will determine an increase by 3.5086 units of GDP; an increase by one unit of I will determine a growth by 2.1058 units of GDP; an increase by one unit of NE will shrink GDP by 5.10849 units. In agro-food sector, the situation was the following in 2022 versus 2013: GDPA reached Euro 12,864.81 Million (+66%). EA accounted for Euro 11,959.97 Million (2.26 times higher), IA reached Euro 13,248.61 Million (2.7 times higher), NEA attained Euro -1,288.64 Million (9.4 times higher compared to 2015 level). The regression assessed the impact of the determinants on GDP as follows: an increase in EA will raise GDPA by 0.8668 units; an increase by one unit of IA will determine a growth by 0.7034 units of GDPA; an increase by one unit of NEA will shrunk GDPA by - 1.2343 units. To balance the ratio between E and I with a beneficial impact on NE and GDP, Romania has to intensify exports and diminish imports, to increase production and quality of the exported products, to identify the products which should be purchased from abroad to cover the needs on the domestic market, to offer more subsidies to producers, to extend its commercial partners on the external market and better negotiate the trade transactions.
