【Objective】 Drainage modulus is an important parameter for designing drainage systems in farmland. Taking Suibin county in Sanjiang Plain as an example, this paper analyzes its runoff and drainage modulus. 【Method】 The study site was an area prone to waterlogging. We first calculated the runoff (RO) using historical data on precipitation, pumping stations and land usage, and then estimated it using the runoff generation method (RGM) and the SCS-CN method (RSCS). The drainage modulus associated with each runoff was calculated using both empirical formulae (QE) and the average draining method (QA). The runoff and drainage modulus calculated by different methods were tested against measured data in the field. 【Result】 In the same year and under the same rainfall return period, the measured runoff increased with rainfall duration, while under the same rainfall duration and the same rainfall return period, it decreased with passage of years. The runoff and drainage modulus calculated from different methods differed from the experimentally measured data. For heavy rainfalls, the runoff estimated from different methods was ranked in the order of RGM>RSCS>RO, while for other rainfalls, it was ranked in the order of RSCSQE, whereas for rainfalls lasting 3 days, QA

Introduction: Sleep disorders often coexist with personality and psychological issues, alongside nocturnal hypoxia. This study investigates the potential mediating role of nocturnal hypoxia between personality traits and psychological symptoms in individuals with sleep disorders. Methods: A cohort comprising 171 participants reporting sleep disturbances was recruited from Dalian Seventh People's Hospital. Psychological symptoms were assessed using the Symptom Checklist-90-R (SCL-90-R), while personality traits were evaluated using the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ). Nocturnal hypoxia status was determined through overnight polysomnography. Results: Mediation analysis, conducted using SPSS 23.0, demonstrated that the cumulative time of nocturnal peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2) < 85% (T85) partially mediated the relationship between neuroticism and various psychological symptoms, including somatization (c=0.207, c'=0.164, a*b=0.043, proportion of mediation 20.8%), interpersonal sensitivity (c=0.360, c'=0.326, a*b=0.034, proportion of mediation 9.6%), depression (c=0.277, c'=0.234, a*b=0.042, proportion of mediation 15.3%), anxiety (c=0.240, c'=0.199, a*b=0.041, proportion of mediation 16.9%), hostility (c=0.241, c'=0.205, a*b=0.036, proportion of mediation 14.9%), phobic anxiety (c=0.271, c'=0.241, a*b=0.030, proportion of mediation 11.1%), and psychoticism (c=0.298, c'=0.266, a*b=0.032, proportion of mediation 10.8%). Discussion: These findings underscore the potential mediating role of nocturnal hypoxia in the association between neuroticism personality traits and psychological symptoms among individuals with sleep disorders. The analysis of the developmental stages of Agaricus bisporus, a major edible and medicinal mushroom, has always been an important focus in this research area. The process of the growth and development of edible mushrooms is complex and involves the regulation of multiple genes and metabolic pathways. Less data exist on the mechanism of their growth and development at the overall level. In this study, RNA sequencing analyses (RNA-Seq) and data-independent acquisition (DIA) proteomic analyses were carried out at the button phase (BP), harvesting phase (HP), and opening phase (OP) stages of Agaricus bisporus 'Shuangbao 106' to reveal the changes in gene expression during the different growth periods of its substrates. The authors screened and explored 3351 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) with a difference factor of ≥2.0, including 2080 up-regulated and 1271 down-regulated genes. After proteome sequencing, 1156 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were screened, including 524 up-regulated and 632 down-regulated genes. The expression in TPM of glycoside hydrolase, catalytic core, and chitinase II decreased during both the HP and OP compared with the BP. This may be because mushrooms require higher levels of glycoside hydrolase, catalytic core, and chitinase II activity during the BP to cope with external threats and the need for cell wall remodeling. Conversely, the growth of mushrooms slowed down and the need for cell wall remodeling decreased during the HP and OP, leading to a decrease in the expression of glycoside hydrolase, catalytic core, and chitinase II. This change is related to the need for environmental adaptation, immune defense, and cell wall remodeling, and may regulate the post-growth process of A. bisporus via the hydrolysis of cell wall chitin and glycoside hydrolase. Highlights: What are the main findings? More screen time on mobile devices was associated with worse dental caries experiences in adolescents. Sugar-sweetened beverage intake might be an independent influential factor for dental caries instead of the mediator between screen time on mobile devices and dental caries. What are the implications of the main findings? Our findings highlighted the necessity to alleviate the burden of dental caries in adolescents and called for concerted actions, including the establishment of appropriate intervention strategies with better targeting of excess time on mobile devices to prevent dental caries and promote oral health in adolescents. Implementing recommendations on reducing screen time and promoting healthier dietary patterns, including control of sugar-sweetened beverage consumption, could be beneficial in alleviating the burden of dental caries in adolescents. Background: Previous studies reported screen time in association with unhealthy dietary behaviors, such as excessive intake of sugar-sweetened beverages leading to dental caries. Thus, we aimed to explore the association between screen time on mobile devices and dental caries experience in adolescents, as well as whether sugar-sweetened beverages would mediate the association. Methods: We analyzed 24,374 junior and senior high school students of age 12 to 17 years from the 2021 "Surveillance for common diseases and health risk factors among students" Project in Jiangsu Province of China. Dental caries experience was determined by the designated dentists. Screen time and consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages were self-reported and treated as a priori risk. We employed an instrumental variable (IV) approach for the current cross-sectional setting. We used the lasso technique to shortlist covariates from a range of confounding factors. Binary logistic regression or ordered logistic regression was performed where appropriate to explore the associations of screen time on mobile devices with dental caries and sugar-sweetened beverages. Results: The prevalence rate of dental caries was 38.4% in the study population. In comparison with <2 h/d screen time on mobile devices, extended screen time (≥2 h/d) was associated with higher dental caries risk (coefficient: 1.27, 95%; confidence interval: 0.80–1.75). Mediation analysis suggested that sugar-sweetened beverage intake might be an independent risk factor for dental caries, instead of the mediator between screen time on mobile devices and dental caries. None of the interaction terms under investigation was statistically significant. Conclusions: Exposure to mobile device screens and sugar-sweetened beverages was associated with dental caries in adolescents. These findings highlighted the importance of increasing awareness of potential risks owing to mobile device usage and sugar-sweetened beverages and the necessity to develop appropriate intervention strategies for school-aged adolescents. Objective: The aim of this study was to elucidate the relationships between thyroid hormones, lifestyle factors, biochemical markers, and autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD), thereby identifying the factors influencing the development of these diseases. Methods: The study encompassed 517 patients with AITD and 549 patients with non-autoimmune thyroid disease. Demographic and clinical data were collected, and various laboratory indicators, including urinary iodine and thyroid hormones, were measured and compared between the groups. Lasso regression was employed to select the independent variables, while logistic regression analysis determined the factors associated with the development of AITD. Results: The prevalence of drinking alcohol history, median urinary iodine, and TSH concentrations proved significantly greater in the AITD group compared to the control group, while FT3 levels demonstrated lower values within the AITD group (p<0.05). Furthermore, there was a significant difference in the distribution of iodine nutrition status between the two groups (p<0.05). Both univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses revealed significant associations among excessive iodine intake, drinking alcohol history, TSH, FT3, and the development of AITD. Conclusions: Excessive iodine intake and drinking alcohol history are implicated in an augmented risk of developing AITD. Background The aim of this study was to explore the association between tea-drinking habits and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in Chinese adults and the mediating effect of sleep quality in this association. Methods Data were derived from the 2020 Survey of Social Factors for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control among adults in Lishui District, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China. Tea-drinking habits were measured by participants' self-report. The HRQoL was measured using the 12-item Short Form Health Survey. Multiple linear regression modelling and mediating effects modelling were used for analyses. Results Habitual tea drinking, frequent tea drinking (drinking tea 6–7 days per week), tea concentration and <10 g of tea per day were strongly associated with an increase in HRQoL among Chinese adults (all p<0.05). The association between tea-drinking habits and HRQoL among Chinese adults was more pronounced in the male population and in those ≥45 y of age (all p<0.05). Tea drinking habits may improve HRQoL in Chinese adults by enhancing sleep quality (all p<0.05). Conclusions Maintaining the habit of habitual tea drinking (6–7 days per week), in small amounts (<10 g tea per day) was conducive to improving HRQoL of Chinese adults by improving sleep quality. Mitigating acid mine drainage (AMD) at its source, specifically within rocks containing pyrite in underwater environments, poses a significant environmental challenge worldwide. Existing passivation techniques are primarily designed for open-air conditions, involving direct contact with coating materials at a solid–liquid interface, making them ineffective beneath a water barrier. In this study, we introduce a novel passivation method inspired by the design of underwater bio-adhesives. Tannic acid (TA) combined with polyethylene glycol (PEG) was employed to form a hydrophobic film directly on the pyrite surface, overcoming water resistance and addressing the limitations of current techniques. Electrochemical experiments and chemical leaching experiments were conducted to evaluate the oxidation resistance of the passivating films. TA–PEG-coated pyrite exhibited a lower oxidation rate and a higher static contact angle of 126.2°, achieving suppression efficiencies of 71.6% for total Fe release and 68.1% for total S release. A comprehensive characterization approach, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), was employed to investigate the passivation mechanism. The results of this study may provide new insights into the preparation of simpler and greener passivating agents to suppress pyrite oxidation at its source in underwater environments. The increasingly environmental issues pose challenges to the economic development of countries, particularly hindering industrial transformation in developing nations. This study, grounded in the Resource-Based View, examines factors influencing green innovation in high-tech manufacturing firms. Market interactions and digital technologies significantly impact resource investments in green innovation. Using data from Chinese high-tech manufacturing firms from 2007 to 2021, the study reveals that customer concentration negatively affects green innovation, while digital transformation promotes it and mitigates the inhibitory effect of customer concentration. To explain this mechanism, green innovation is divided into green process innovation and green product innovation, and the effect of customer concentration is more pronounced in green product innovation. Further testing discusses the roles of the external environment, internal governance, and manager characteristics. Specifically, product market competition and political resources influence firms' reliance on major customers, allowing digital technologies to optimize resource allocation for green innovation. In terms of internal governance, flexibility and regulatory strength alter the emphasis firms place on green innovation, with higher governance efficiency reducing dependency on major customers. Managerial characteristics, particularly managers' rationality, determine the importance placed on digital technologies versus customer demands, leading to varied investment decisions in green innovation. Our findings provide valuable insights for optimizing resource allocation and enhancing green innovation investment, thereby effectively promoting sustainable regional economic development. For improving the quality and reliability of nitrogen isotope in coals,this paper analyses and compares nitrogen isotope composition in a series of coal samples measured by Kjedahl-Rittenberg method and two Dumas combustion methods(containing EA-Conflo IV-IRMS method and sealed quartz tube combustion method),respectively.The results show that:① the precision of Kjedahl-Rittenberg method is not very ideal and nitrogen in coals cannot be completely extracted.This method is time-consumed relative to two other Dumas methods.② EA-Conflo IV-IRMS method is more convenient and efficient,especially for analyzing organic nitrogen isotope compositions of massive samples.The precision of measuring results mainly depend on the types of samples and the condition of the system.A reliable data could be got only after specific parameter optimization and subsequent corrections.For samples containing high contents of inorganic nitrogen,it is better to extract kerogen to measure.③ Sealed quartz tube method can extract nitrogen completely in coal samples with high precision and is easier to measure isotope compositions of bulk nitrogen,but also time-consumed for massive samples.
