This study describes students' critical thinking skills in learning science on simple machines. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The subjects in this study were 34 students from one of the public junior high schools in Surabaya. The data collection method used is a test of critical thinking skills. The essay question sheet consists of five critical thinking skills indicators: interpretation, analysis, inference, evaluation, and explanation. The study's results showed that the average percentage of students' critical thinking skills indicators was 20%. The percentage results indicate that the critical thinking skills of one of the public junior high schools in Surabaya are classified as very poor with the standard reference assessment criteria.

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan sistem dalam jaringan atau daring (online) karena penelitian ini bertepatan dengan peraturan pemerintah agar sekolah tidak melaksanakan pembelajaran tatap muka di kelas selama pandemi Covid-19 belum dituntaskan oleh pemerintah. Permasalahan utama pada penelitian ini adalah rendahnya pemahaman siswa pada materi lingkaran di kelas 8.6 SMP Negeri 23 Malang yang dimana akan diterapkan pada materi garis singgung persekutuan dua lingkaran. Oleh sebab itu dalam penelitian ini memiliki tujuan penelitian untuk memperoleh deskripsi tentang penerapan model penemuan terbimbing yang dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa pada garis singgung persekutuan dua lingkaran di kelas 8.6 SMP Negeri 23 Malang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan desain penelitian yang mengacu pada Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart yaitu perencanaan pelaksanaan tindakan observasi dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 8.6 SMP Negeri 23 Malang yang berjumlah 32 orang siswa yang terdiri dari 16 orang siswa laki-laki dan 16 orang siswa perempuan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model penemuan terbimbing dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa pada materi garis singgung persekutuan dua lingkaran di kelas 8.6 SMP Negeri 23 Malang yang ditempuh dengan cara guru merumuskan masalah siswa menyusun dan menganalisis data serta membuat konjektur dengan bimbingan guru seperlunya siswa mempresentasikan hasil penemuannya siswa mengerjakan soal latihan tambahan guru bersama siswa menyimpulkan materi yang dipelajari. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat pada peningkatan pemahaman siswa dari siklus I ke siklus II.

Currently the Covid-19 pandemic is causing many impacts and problems one of them is in the educational especially on students. Problem focused coping is more appropriate to resolve the problem. This study aims to determine the relationship between family social support and problem focused coping and the relationship between hardiness and problem focused coping in students. The samples in this study totaled 360 respondents. The sampling technique used quota sampling. The study used three scales, family social support, hardiness and focused coping problems. The approach used was by the survey method and using the product moment correlation test. The results of the first hypothesis test were rejected (significant standard 0.052 is more than 0.05) meaning that there was no relationship between family social support and focused coping problems. The results of the second hypothesis test were accepted (significant standard 0.012 is less than 0.05) meaning that there was a positive relationship between hardiness and focus-coping problems in students.
