Evaluation of the effects of feeding NutraGen supplement (NutraGen, NTG; Phibro Animal Health, Teaneck, NJ, USA) on growth performance, energetic efficiency, carcass characteristcs, and characteristics of digestion in calf-fed Holstein steers fed a conventional growing-finishing diet. Trial 1 evaluated growth performance, dietary energetics and carcass characteristics. Two hundred Holstein steer calves (134 ± 5 kg) were blocked by initial body weight (BW) and randomly assigned to 40 pens (5 steers/pen). Dietary treatments consisted of a steam-flaked corn-based growing-finishing diet supplemented with 0, 0.2, 0.4, or 0.6% NTG (DM basis). In trial 2, four Holstein steers (170 ±6 kg) with cannulas in the rumen and proximal duodenum were used in a 4 × 4 Latin square experiment to evaluate digestibility and ruminal characteristics using the treatments from trial 1. Compared to non-supplemented cattle, NTG increased BW (2.0%, P = 0.02) and tended to increase ADG (3.6%, P = 0.07) during the initial 56 d period. However, there were no treatment effects on overall growth performance and efficiency of dietary energy utilization after the first 56 days (P > 0.10). Supplementation of NTG increased (linear effect; P ≤ 0.03) longissimus muscle area and kidney, pelvic, and heart fat. There was no effect (P ≥ 0.05) of NTG supplementation on other carcass characteristics, liver abscess incidence, or liver abscess scars. Supplementation decreased the molar proportion of ruminal propionate (P = 0.05) and tended to increase acetate:propionate molar ratio (P = 0.09). However, there was no effect of NTG supplementation on ruminal and total tract diet digestion. NTG increased performance of Holstein steers during the first 56 d on feed in the feedlot. In addition, the steers had an increase in KPH fat and LM area, indicating that the additive induced change in metabolism of the steers.

One hundred sixty-eight Holstein steer calves (133.4 ± 7.9 kg) were used to evaluate the influence of virginiamycin (VM) supplementation on cattle growth performance and liver abscess incidence, and the effect of feeding 100% vs. 87% of metabolizable protein (MP) requirements during the initial 112 d on growth performance, efficiency of energy utilization, and carcass characteristics. Steers were balanced by weight and assigned to 28 pens (6 steers/pen). During the initial 112-d feeding period, dietary treatments consisted of two levels of MP (100% vs. 87% of expected requirements) supplemented with or without 22.5 mg/kg VM in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement. There were no VM × MP supplementation interactions (P ≥ 0.14) on any of the parameters measured in both experiments. Calf-fed Holstein steers supplemented with VM increased (P ≤ 0.03) overall average daily gain (ADG), feed efficiency (G:F), observed/expected net energy (NE) values for maintenance and gain, and final body weight (BW). Cattle fed VM also increased (P ≤ 0.04) carcass weight, dressing percent, and longissimus muscle area. However, there was no effect (P ≥ 0.22) of VM supplementation on any other carcass characteristics. Calf-fed Holstein steers fed 100% MP requirements during the initial 112-d feeding period had greater (P ≤ 0.02) ADG, G:F, observed/expected NE values for maintenance and gain, and live BW compared with steers fed 87% of the expected MP requirements. However, there was no effect (P ≥ 0.17) of MP supply during the initial 112-d period on overall (342 d) growth performance measurements. The incidence of liver abscesses was low (averaging 7.7%) and not affected by dietary treatments. We conclude that, independent of MP supplies, supplemental VM enhances overall growth performance and efficiency of energy utilization of calf-fed Holstein steers.

- Abstract
The objective of this research was to evaluate the sustainability of a co-treatment system that combines Municipal Wastewater (MW) and Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) through the technique of intermittent electrocoagulation, applied as an advanced solution to improve contaminant removal efficiency and optimize energy balance. Four scenarios were analyzed: Treatment I (with a 1/7 ratio of urban wastewater to AMD), Treatment II (which includes an artificial wetland), Treatment IIIa (which introduces electrocoagulation to enhance sulfate removal and pH regulation), and Treatment IIIb (which employs a 1/15 ratio of AMD to eutrophic water). The methodology focused on calculating key sustainability indicators such as the Net Yield Ratio (EYR), Emergy Inversion Ratio (EIR), Environmental Loading Ratio (ELR), and Sustainability Index (SI), in order to assess the impact of each technology on the energy efficiency and environmental load of the system. The results showed that, although Treatment IIIa was effective in contaminant removal, the EIR increased to 0.18 and the ELR rose to 0.62, indicating a higher reliance on non-renewable inputs due to increased energy demand. However, Treatment IIIb, which combines electrocoagulation with eutrophic water, significantly improved the sustainability of the system, achieving an SI of 2.31 and an ELR of 1.22, reflecting a reduction in energy efficiency due to intensive use of external resources, but overall greater sustainability compared to the other scenarios. This research concludes that intermittent electrocoagulation, when integrated with synergistic resources like eutrophic water, can enhance contaminant removal efficiency and improve the use of renewable resources, minimizing environmental load and increasing the sustainability of wastewater treatment systems. - Abstract
It's a common knowledge that the society and time we live in are characterized by continuous technological change and most of employee skills may become outdated fairly rapidly. Therefore, an enterprise that aspires to be successful and respond quickly to changes in the market environment should pay great attention to training programs of the employees. In this regard, it is important to develop guidelines and recommendations to improve the quality of mentoring as the system involving Mentoring Council, enterprise executives, mentors and training centers for mentors. The paper is intended to provide theoretical and practical contribution to training students of technical universities, as well as young personnel starting their career and experienced executives.

Agents that remodel the tumor microenvironment (TME), prime functional tumor-specific T cells, and block inhibitory signaling pathways are essential components of effective immunotherapy. We are evaluating live-attenuated, double-deleted Listeria monocytogenes expressing tumor antigens (LADD-Ag) in the clinic. Here we show in numerous mouse models that while treatment with nonrecombinant LADD induced some changes in the TME, no antitumor efficacy was observed, even when combined with immune checkpoint blockade. In contrast, LADD-Ag promoted tumor rejection by priming tumor-specific KLRG1+PD1loCD62L- CD8+ T cells. These IFNγ-producing effector CD8+ T cells infiltrated the tumor and converted the tumor from an immunosuppressive to an inflamed microenvironment that was characterized by a decrease in regulatory T cells (Treg) levels, a proinflammatory cytokine milieu, and the shift of M2 macrophages to an inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS)+CD206- M1 phenotype. Remarkably, these LADD-Ag-induced tumor-specific T cells persisted for more than 2 months after primary tumor challenge and rapidly controlled secondary tumor challenge. Our results indicate that the striking antitumor efficacy observed in mice with LADD-based immunotherapy stems from TME remodeling which is a direct consequence of eliciting potent, systemic tumor-specific CD8+ T cells.

- Abstract
The Community for Learning program (CFL), also known as the Learning City Program, a school-based intervention program, is described. A major premise of this program is that the national standards of educational outcomes can and must be upheld for all students, including those at risk. At the core of the program's design is over 20 years of research and the school-based implementation experience of two widely implemented programs, the Adaptive Learning Environments Model (M. Wang, 1992) and the School Development Program (J. Comer, 1985). The CFL design includes three components: (1) school development that assists schools in establishing a planning and management team and a mental health team; (2) the family-community for learning, designed to use the resources and energies of families and the community to support student learning; and (3) the Adaptive Learning Environments mode, which is an instructional delivery system designed to meet the diverse needs of individual students in regular classroom settings that include special education, Title I, and bilingual students. Implementation of the CFL in a middle school in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) is described. This Title I school in a disadvantaged neighborhood is divided into three houses, one of which implemented CFL in the 1992-93 school year. Special education and English-as-a-second-language students were integrated into regular classes. Teachers worked in teaching teams to find solutions to problems of low achievement, violence, and parental despair, and several innovative approaches to parent participation were implemented. Overall mathematics and reading achievement scores of students in this "house" were somewhat higher, although not to statistical significance. When long-term effects of participation in CFL were studied, there was a significant increase in high school completion for CFL students. CFL offers promise for improving the academic achievement and school completion of disadvantaged students. (Contains 15 references.) (SLD)

This work arises from the need of Hersil Representaciones SAC to improve its safety and health management process, through the implementation of management tools that allow it to perform the obligations required by the Occupational Safety and Health Law, Law No. 29783. Hersil Representaciones SAC is a Peruvian company that is dedicated to the purchase, storage, medical promotion, sale and distribution of pharmaceutical products of the transnational companies it represents. The problem faced by Hersil Representaciones SAC is the potential cost of fines for non-compliance with Law No. 29783, caused by the imminent occurrence of work accidents and occupational diseases. The company only performs medical examinations of entry and delivery, to the worker, the internal regulations of safety and health at work. Through the cause-effect diagram and the Pareto curve, the causes of the problem were established and prioritized, finding three elements: lack of internal management of safety at work, lack of training and information on safety and health at work and failure to identify hazards and assess risks in jobs. The alternative solution proposed, for each of the three causes described in the previous paragraph, was to establish the occupational health and safety committee, establish a methodology for the identification of hazards and risk assessment, and prepare the annual program of training in occupational health and safety. With the formation of the committee, the company is empowered to approve any document on safety at work, as required by “Law No. 29783”. With the hazard identification and risk assessment matrix, the company managed to draw up the matrices of its 36 job positions. With the training program, it was able to carry out 100% of the programmed trainings with 95% attendance. In general, Hersil Representaciones SAC, managed to save, in potential costs due to fines, the amount of S/86 196,00.

Institutional theory is an important topic among organizations. This concept is key and deals with the continuity of social groups in the organizational environment, because there is a consensus about the institutions affecting the behavior of social actors. This study aims to define the different ways in which the institutional theory has being used on theoretical or empirical research in order to denote how the theory is applied in organizations. The objective of this study is to identify the state of the art of Brazilian scientific production in the area of institutional theory through the main journals from the electronic library database SPELL® Scientific Electronic Library Periodicals in the areas of management, accounting and tourism, in the period from 2005 to 2015 and have the institutionalist approach in its scope. The research, based on bibliometric study presents a mapping of institutional theory highlighting the following points: evolution of scientific production, profile of most published authors, methodological aspects, key theories and concepts of the institutional approach, related topics, types of studied organizations and classification QUALIS / CAPES from Brazilian scientific production related to the topic. The results indicate that on despite of the new institutionalism is considered one of the most influential theoretical approaches in contemporary political science, particularly in studies on public policy, the old institutionalism approach is still the most studied. The most used type of research is the qualitative due to the difficulties of dealing with the institutional approach from the quantitative perspective, and the development of institutional theory in publications is increasing, demonstrating the continuity of relevance for this topic for the scientific community and the most studied organizations were from the public sector confirming previous studies., A teoria institucional é um tema relevante nas organizações.

New theories and advances in society have transformed the relationship between man and his work throughout the last decades. In this context the individualorganization links are being studied. Thus, work commitment and entrenchment appear as divergent behavioral attitudes, causing significant personal, organizational and social impacts (CARSON, CARSON, BEDEIAN, 1995); for Meyer and Allen (1991), organizational commitment is conceived as a psychological state that characterizes the attachment of individuals to the organization. On the other hand, entrenched people remain in the organization out of necessity or lack of alternatives. The objective of this study is to analyze which type of bond, whether affective commitment or organizational entrenchment, are preponderant in the permanence of audit professionals of Brazil and Mexico of the Big Four. Because of the prestige they have in the professional auditing area, as well as their investment in staff training, it is important to conduct research on their workers bonds with the organization. The approach of the problem of this research can be characterized, due to its nature, as qualitative, due to its objectives as exploratory and the typology of multicase study. The instrument used was the interview, carried out through an in-depth semi-structured script. The study reached the target of 10 Big Four audit workers in the Mexico area, and 10 in Brazil. The software Atlas.ti - version 7.0, appropriate for the qualitative analysis of interviews, was used for content analysis and conceptual ordering. At the end of the present study, it is concluded that both the auditors in Brazil and those in Mexico are mainly positively linked to the Big Four where they work, mainly due to the professional growth that can be obtained within them. On the contrary, it can be concluded that neither of the two groups shows a high level of entrenchment, on the contrary, in both groups the costs linked to quitting do not represent a bond that forces the individual to stay in the organization. From a general point of view it can be concluded that the entrenchment does not represent a problem in the Big Four of Brazil and Mexico today.

In contrast, LADD-Ag promoted tumor rejection by priming tumor-specific KLRG1
+ PD1lo CD62L- CD8+ T cells. These IFNγ-producing effector CD8+ T cells infiltrated the tumor and converted the tumor from an immunosuppressive to an inflamed microenvironment that was characterized by a decrease in regulatory T cells (Treg) levels, a proinflammatory cytokine milieu, and the shift of M2 macrophages to an inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS)+ CD206- M1 phenotype. - Abstract
This project consists in the study of the performance, during the startup phase, of a micro-wind turbine, the IT-PE-100, designed by Soluciones Prácticas-ITDG for private household energy supply. This 100 W wind turbine generates electrical energy by extracting part of the kinetic energy of the wind, and is aimed to satisfy the basic energy requirements for family housings located in remote rural areas. Particularly, the main objective of this project is to determine the behavior of the rotor and the tail vane of the micro-wind turbine during the startup for a set of predetermined wind incidence angles and speeds. These wind conditions have been defined according to the wind patterns of a rural area in the Alto Perú, which were provided by the UPC's research group called Grup de Recerca en Cooperació i Desenvolupament Humà (GRECDH). After a comprehensive study accomplished by Carlos Sánchez [5], the wind intensities assigned for the simulations of the micro-wind turbine were 3.63, 6.42 and 7.44 m/s. The incidence angles established for performing the simulations were 0º, 10º, 20º and 30º. Therefore, twelve different wind conditions have been taken into account to implement the simulations. In order to carry out this study, GRECDH, which contributes to sustainable development through the research and application of the appropriate technologies, provided us with a CAD file of the micro-wind turbine design. Then, this CAD geometry has been adapted, meshed and prepared using Gambit software for its posterior Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis. The stationary simulations of the micro-wind turbine for all the aforementioned wind conditions have been carried out using Fluent software, which enables to obtain the forces produced on the model along the three axes of the coordinate system, as well as contour graphs for the desired physical properties, such as velocity, pressure or density. The obtained results mainly include a study of the lateral forces, torque and, Éste proyecto consiste en el estudio de las prestaciones, durante la fase de arrancada, de un micro-aerogenerador, el IT-PE100, diseñado por Soluciones Prácticas-ITDG para el suministro eléctrico domestico. - Abstract
Large scale production of TNT is complicated by oxidative side reactions that result in undesirable yield losses and by-products. White compound (WC), an azoxy-linked derivative of the oxidation products of TNT, is a solid contaminant in large scale, continuous TNT production. Production must be routinely shut down to remove the WC deposited on surfaces in TNT lines, a process that is costly and time consuming. In addition, a serious explosion in the TNT lines at the Radford Arsenal was found to be indirectly related to WC deposits in the line. The current program was then begun. The direct aim of this work was to determine if oxidation could be reduced or eliminated by removing the NO2 that forms during the nitration reaction. We also surveyed the effects of initial SO3 levels, stainless steel surfaces, and reaction temperature, and the effect of adding oxidation inhibitors and promoters on the oxidation of dinitrotoluene in mixed acid systems.
