The article discusses the new Far Rockaway Library in Queens, designed by Snøhetta. The library is located in a dynamic and rapidly transforming neighborhood, and the architects aimed to create a space that represented the community and provided much-needed daylight. The facade of the library features stylized graffiti designs by artist Jose Parla, paying homage to the art form born in the city. The building's envelope is a mellow orange color that references the coastal location of Far Rockaway. The interior of the library is filled with natural light, thanks to a central atrium topped by a skylight, and the space is designed to change in tone and shape throughout the day. The library also includes a rear garden and is equipped with disaster relief capabilities. The project was completed in August 2024 and cost $33 million. [Extracted from the article]
