Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health issue that significantly impacts the quality of life of patients undergoing hemodialysis. Anxiety is one of the common psychological challenges faced by these patients. While various studies have addressed psychological and social interventions, most have focused on only one aspect, such as family support or psychological therapy, without considering the biological, social, and spiritual needs simultaneously. No research has integrated all these dimensions into a holistic approach. Purpose: This study aims to develop and evaluate a holistic nursing management model that combines all of these aspects to reduce anxiety levels for hemodialysis patients. Methods: This study used a mixed-method approach with an action research design. It was conducted at the Klaten Islamic Hospital. The population in the study was patients undergoing hemodialysis; as many as 15 patients participated in this study. The holistic nursing module was tested in five sessions, each lasting 15-30 minutes. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HRS-A) before and after the intervention. Background: Nurses play an essential role as frontline caregivers, particularly in recognizing and responding to patient deterioration. This study addresses nurses' self-leadership in the face of challenging situations such as patient deterioration, emphasizing the importance of self-leadership skills in navigating complex patient care scenarios. Delayed recognition of subtle changes in patient's conditions has been linked to adverse outcomes, necessitating a closer examination of the role of self-leadership in nursing practice. Objective: The objective of this research was to explore and understand the implications of self-leadership among nurses when confronted with challenging situations, specifically focusing on patient deterioration. Methods: A qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive research design was employed, utilizing focus group discussions (FGDs) with nurses from a private hospital in Pretoria, South Africa. Semistructured interview guide facilitated the FGDs, and data saturation was achieved after the eight sessions. The sample included nurses with various qualifications and shifts, offering diverse perspectives on self-leadership in patient care. Rigorous data collection and trustworthiness measures, including member checking and verbatim transcriptions, were employed to enhance the conformability of the study. Results: The findings revealed six overarching themes and 15 subthemes, demonstrating the interconnectedness of self-leadership and nursing practice. Themes included responsibility and autonomy, compassion and care, support and collaboration, learning from experience, teamwork, and appreciation and recognition. These themes explained how nurses actively engaged in self-observation, constructive thought patterns, and natural reward strategies to proactively address patient deterioration. Conclusion: The study underlines the significance of integrating self-leadership principles into nursing practice. Health literacy (HL) is an effective approach for improved health status and measures the capacity of individuals to engage in health promotion and disease prevention activities as low HL constitutes a global problem in health-care delivery. Nurses play a significant role in providing adequate information to the client and as such it becomes imperative for them to understand the concept of HL. Clinical approach of HL refers to ability to utilize literacy skills in relation to appointments, prescriptions, and instructions for self-management. Public health approach presents HL as means of empowering individuals to take control of their health and factors that influences health. HL is a hierarchy of skills that can be assessed and managed through health education and effective communication. Nurses' understanding of the concept of HL and strategies to reduce HL demands is crucial to delivery of effective nursing practice. This review will provide a clear understanding of the concept of HL which is essential for nurses to effectively educate patients and provide holistic care. More so, nurses will be able to assess literacy level of the patients, plan and develop better educational program tailored to patients' level of literacy. Methods: The Nursing Theory of Complex Adaptive Systems represents a new nursing paradigm capable of addressing the challenges of a constantly evolving healthcare environment. This theory promotes personalized care plans adaptable to patients' changing needs by emphasizing a holistic and interactive approach to care. Results: It also underscores the importance of interprofessional collaboration and effective communication in improving the quality of care. The Nursing Theory of Complex Adaptive Systems has significant implications for nursing practice, education, and research. Conclusions: It provides a robust framework for developing adaptive and resilient nursing practices that can respond to the complexities of modern healthcare. Spiritual intelligence (SI) has recently gained traction in various fields, including nursing. Given the increasing emphasis on patient-centred care and the holistic well-being of patients and nurses, SI is particularly relevant in nursing practice. A bibliometric analysis of recent publications (2014-2024) in the field helps synthesise and evaluate the existing research on SI in the general field of nursing, identify literature gaps, suggest future research directions and raise awareness of the importance of SI in nursing practice. The present study reports bibliometric data (n = 461) from the Scopus database on SI, spiritual quotient and spiritual care in nursing and health care. The data are analysed using MS Excel and VOSviewer software. The publications' trend analysis revealed a significant increase in SI-related publications since 2015. The study presents top-cited articles. Journal of Religion and Health was found to be a prominent journal with the maximum number of publications, and Sage was found to be the top publisher of journals with articles on SI. Network visualisation reveals central figures such as Wilfred McSherry, Trove Giske, Elizabeth Johnston Taylor, Fiona Timmins, Silvia Caldeira and Linda Ross as key researchers in the field. The United States and Iran have the most substantial connections of authors publishing on SI. This study reveals an increasing interest in SI and care within nursing research, confirming its growing significance in the field. By reporting areas where research on SI in nursing remains underdeveloped, the study paves the way for the development of new or updated curricula in nursing programs. The study can guide faculty development initiatives by highlighting the importance of SI and providing resources for educators to incorporate these concepts into their teaching. This study presents specific research questions to address these knowledge gaps. Future studies which can address these questions will enrich nursing education and practice, leading to improved patient outcomes and enhanced nurse well-being using the full potential of SI in nursing practice. Older adults are at high risk of experiencing injury, exacerbations of their chronic conditions, and death when evacuations are ordered because of hurricanes or natural disasters. The Homebound seniors residing in Galveston County are at a particularly high risk of morbidity and mortality during evacuations for hurricanes. This paper described the impact of a quality improvement intervention designed and implemented by nurse practitioners during the 2022 and 2023 hurricane season. The education program aimed at increasing the hurricane preparedness of the home-bound patients. Of these patients, 190 returned pre and post surveys. Interventions showed a 43% increase in patients having an evacuation plan in the event of a hurricane, 633% increase in STEAR registration, 16% increase in patients having access to emergency supplies, and 34% increase in patients having an emergency contact list with up-to-date medication list. All improvements on hurricane preparedness items were significant (p <.0001) except for the need for assistance in case of an evacuation. Our findings suggest a need for continuous hurricane preparedness education in the community to ensure safe evacuation, improve hurricane preparation, and increase the number of seniors who registered with the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry. Objective(s): Caring for COVID-19 patients was a new and challenging experience for nurses. Knowing the effect of psychological, emotional, and spiritual care on physiological responses, nurses provided holistic care. Methods: This qualitative study was conducted with the conventional content analysis approach in one of the referral hospitals for COVID-19 in Iran. Data were collected using in-depth, semi-structured individual interviews. Data was analyzed using the Lundman and Granheim qualitative content analysis and the Lincoln and Goba criteria. Results: In all 17 nurses were interviewed. The mean age (SD) of participants was 34.41 ± 7.49 years. The findings indicated a "butterfly-like care" with four main categories [caring with all one's heart, resilience, self-sacrifice, and conscious presence in danger). Conclusion: During the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses, being aware of all the health and social consequences and overcoming fear and doubt, volunteered to take care of patients and save lives, and despite understanding the risk of being infected, they lovingly surrounded the patients. Considering the central role of nurses in the treatment team, special attention should be given to the maintenance and strengthening of nurses in the planning of the development of healthcare systems in the face of the upcoming epidemics. Background: Spiritual care is an important aspect of patient centered care and in healthcare research, the focus on spiritual care has been growing over the past decades. Providing spiritual care in a global, culturally entwined, and pluralistic world is complicated, as providers are sensitive to the potential variance in the secular, spiritual, and religious meaning orientations of their patients. The purpose of spiritual nursing care is to support people's spiritual health, encourage inner serenity, offer emotional support, and assist them in using their spiritual resources to get through trying times. Purpose: To identify challenges nurses face (communication, sensitivity) for improvement. Methods: In this study, we estimated ten patients from a geriatric ward in Edinburgh, Scotland, who were asked to define their spiritual requirements. Results: In our study, the majority of the patients expressed a desire to make sense of or find purpose in their lives, as well as to be loved and accepted. Conclusion: The study provides theoretical research and empirical support for nursing, creating a cumulative added value in spiritual nursing care. Future studies on spiritual care in nursing should inform changes in education and practice. This patient requirement must be prioritized alongside all other physical and mental needs. Implications for Nursing: Spiritual care in nursing practice has the potential to significantly enhance patient well-being and expand the role of nurses in healthcare. Background: Lack of access to health care is a worldwide public health crisis. In primary care it has led to increases in the implementation of nurse practitioners and heightened interest in their patient panel capacity. The aim of this study was to examine factors influencing nurse practitioner patient panel size in team-based primary care in Ontario, Canada. Methods: We used a multiple case study design. Eight team-based primary care practices including rural and urban settings were purposively selected as cases. Each case had two or more nurse practitioners with a minimum of two years experience in the primary care setting. Interviews were conducted in-person, audio recorded, transcribed and analysed using content analysis. Results: Forty participants, including 19 nurse practitioners, 16 administrators (inclusive of executives, managers, and receptionists), and 5 physicians were interviewed. Patient, provider, organizational, and system factors influenced nurse practitioner patient panel size. There were eight sub-factors: complexity of patients' health and social needs; holistic nursing model of care; nurse practitioner experience and confidence; composition and functioning of the multidisciplinary team; clerical and administrative supports, and nurse practitioner activities and expectations. All participants found it difficult to identify the panel size of nurse practitioners, calling it— "a grey area." Establishing and maintaining a longitudinal relationship that responded holistically to patients' needs was fundamental to how nurse practitioners provided care. Social factors such as gender, poverty, mental health concerns, historical trauma, marginalisation and literacy contributed to the complexity of patients' needs. Participants indicated NPs tried to address all of a patient's concerns at each visit. Conclusions: Nurse practitioners have a holistic approach that incorporates attention to the social determinants of health as well as acute and chronic comorbidities. This approach compels them to try to address all of the needs a patient is experiencing at each visit and reduces their panel size. Multidisciplinary teams have an opportunity to be deliberate when structuring their services across providers to meet more of the health and social needs of empanelled patients. Introduction: Existing qualitative research on early-stage Parkinson's disease draws on patients' reported disease experience, aiming to capture the symptoms and impacts most relevant to patients living with the disease. As a complement to this research, the present study investigated the patient experience of early-stage Parkinson's disease from a holistic, ethnographic perspective. We explored the attitudes, beliefs, and social structures that shape how people understand and adapt to life with early-stage Parkinson's disease. Methods: Researchers interviewed 30 people with early-stage Parkinson's disease, 10 relatives, and 10 neurologists and movement disorder specialists in the USA and Germany. Many of these interviews took place in-person, allowing researchers to spend time in participants' homes and witness their daily lives. A multidisciplinary team of social scientists, clinical researchers, and patient organization representatives led the mixed-methods study design and analysis. In-depth ethnographic interviews yielded qualitative insights, with a quantitative survey following to assess their prevalence in a larger sample of 150 patients. Results: In addition to developing a patient life experience pathway of early-stage Parkinson's disease, we identified five key thematic findings that provide insight into how the clinical features of the disease become meaningful to patients on the context of their daily lives, family relations, and subjective well-being: (1) People with early-stage Parkinson's disease start coming to terms with their disease before receiving a medical diagnosis; (2) Acceptance is not a finalized achievement, but a cyclical process; (3) People with early-stage Parkinson's disease "live in the moment" to make the future more manageable; (4) Slowing disease progression is an important goal driving the actions of people with early-stage Parkinson's; and (5) People with early-stage Parkinson's disease value information that is grounded in lived experience and relevant to their stage of disease progression. Conclusion: This holistic, ethnographic approach to patient life experience provided five key thematic findings that complement insights from qualitative and quantitative datasets on early-stage Parkinson's disease. An enhanced understanding of how early-stage Parkinson's symptoms impact patients' health-related quality of life and their broader social lives can help us better understand how patients make decisions about their usage of healthcare services and therapies. In addition to looking at how symptoms impact people's daily lives, this research examined how people think about and give meaning to early-stage Parkinson's. Researchers identified five key insights: (1) people often begin to come to terms with Parkinson's before being diagnosed; (2) accepting Parkinson's is an ongoing process; (3) people with early-stage Parkinson's value living in the moment; (4) people with early-stage Parkinson's see slowing the worsening of the disease as an important goal; and (5) learning from the first-hand experience of others can be more valuable than scientific information. Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face antenatal care (ANC) services were limited. Therefore, we developed the Android digital application "Guide Me" with a holistic care concept for optimizing ANC. Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the Android digital application "Guide Me" on optimizing ANC. Methods: The present study used an experimental research design. The participants included 302 pregnant women selected through block randomization, with 160 in the intervention group and 142 in the control group. The intervention involved providing ANC services using a digital Android application at home, with health services visited only when treatment was necessary. The intervention group received usual care along with the Android application, "Guide Me", which included a holistic nursing concept program, while the control group received only the usual care. Data were collected three times, and the ANC scale was used to measure ANC optimization. Repeated measures ANOVA was used to analyze the data. Results: There were significant differences in the optimization of ANC ([F=96.887, df (1,300), p<0.001]) between the intervention and control groups. The target of 14 T in the intervention group showed significant statistical differences over three times ([F=118.35, df (1,308), p<0.001]) compared to the control group, with optimization of ANC increasing from 45.79 to 59.16 in the intervention group and from 44.09 to 45.77 in the control group. Conclusions: The program effectively increased ANC optimization. Pregnant women feel more at ease in their own homes and have less time to visit a hospital. Therefore, they may accept and even appreciate online apps and telemonitoring as alternatives to ANC checks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Oncology nurses support cancer patients in meeting their self-care needs, often neglecting their own emotions and self-care needs. This study aims to investigate the variations in the five facets of holistic mindfulness among Italian oncology nurses based on gender, work experience in oncology, and shift work. Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out in 2023 amongst all registered nurses who were employed in an oncology setting and working in Italy. Results: There were no significant differences in all five facets of holistic mindfulness (p ≥ 0.05) according to gender, work experience in the oncology field, and shift work. Conclusion: Could holistic mindfulness be defined as an intrinsic individual characteristic? Surely, more insights will be necessary to better define the holistic trend in oncology nursing. The concept of matrescence, akin to adolescence but for mothers, has gained increasing attention in perinatal psychiatry, marking a paradigm shift towards understanding the holistic development of mothers. Matrescence encompasses the myriad psychological, social, cultural, and existential changes which occur as women transition intomotherhood. Despite advances inmaternalmental health, a bias towards pathologizing maternal experiences persists in research and practice. This commentary advocates for the integration of matrescence into perinatal psychiatry, drawing fromthework of Dana Raphael and contemporary scholarship. Matrescence offers a strengths-based framework that acknowledges both the challenges and opportunities of motherhood, emphasizing the normative aspects of a mother's self-development. By adopting matrescence terminology and nosology, clinicians and researchers can enhance traditional psychiatric classifications. Additionally, matrescence underscores the importance of considering ecological systems and historical factors in maternal well-being, highlighting the need for comprehensive and compassionate healthcare services. Embracing matrescence as a fundamental concept in perinatal psychiatry holds promise for improving maternal mental health outcomes and promoting the flourishing of mothers worldwide. Severe mental illness disrupts daily functioning, burdening family caregivers, who often adopt spiritual coping strategies. With comprehensive skills, mental health nurses can promote well-being and mental health. The aim is to develop and test the nursing intervention "promoting spiritual coping" in the family caregivers of home-dwelling people with mental illness. This study was conducted in two distinct stages. Initially, the intervention was developed according to the first phase of the Framework for Developing and Evaluating Complex Interventions. Secondly, the intervention protocol was tested in a mixed-method pilot study. An intervention protocol was developed and tested on ten family caregivers. The intervention comprised three sessions, and before-and-after assessments were conducted. Significant improvements were observed in the outcomes, with caregivers expressing that discussing spirituality and religiosity benefited them. This intervention prioritized the therapeutic relationship of the nurses and family caregivers. The intervention "promoting spiritual coping" was created and evaluated as a suitable approach for mental health nurses to use in a psychotherapeutic context with family caregivers of individuals with mental illness. OBJECTIVE: A diverse physician workforce ensures equitable care. The holistic review of residency applications is one strategy to enhance physician diversity; however, little is known about current adoption and the factors that facilitate/impede the adoption of holistic recruitment practices (HRPs) by graduate medical education (GME) residency, and fellowship program directors (PDs). To describe the current state and explore, the barriers/facilitators to the adoption of HRPs at our institution. METHODS: We disseminated information about HRP within our program between 2021 and 2022. In May 2022, a survey of 73 GME PDs assessed current recruitment practices and self-reported barriers to holistic recruitment. Holistic Recruitment Scores (HRSs) reflecting the adoption of best practices were tabulated for each program and compared to identify predictors of adoption. RESULTS: 73/80 (92%) of PDs completed the survey. Programs whose PDs had higher academic rank, total number of trainees, and female trainees in the past 3 years had higher HRSs. Program size was directly correlated with HRS. Most (93%) PDs felt their current efforts were aligned to increase diversity and 58% felt there were no barriers to the adoption of holistic review. The most reported barriers were lack of time and knowledge/expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), both reported by 16 out of 73 PDs (22%). CONCLUSION: While most PDs implemented some HRP, institutional and departmental support of program directors through the commitment of resources (eg, staffing help and subject matter experts/coaches hiring) are crucial to overcome barriers. Background and Objectives: Spiritual care is a part of holistic nursing care for end-of-life patients. One of the dimensions of this care is the religious dimension, which seems to be influenced by religious attitudes. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine nurses' knowledge and attitude toward spiritual care for end-of-life patients and to investigate their relationship with religious attitudes in Pastor Hospital of Bam, southeast Iran. Methods: This descriptive-correlational study was conducted from November 2019 to May 2020. A total of 218 nurses were selected using the convenience sampling method. Data were collected using a reasearcher-made questionnaires containing four sections. Data analysis, which included descriptive and inferential statistics, was performed using SPSS software, version 24. Results: The mean scores of knowledge and attitude toward spiritual care were 13.62±3.36 and 73.94±8.52, respectively, reflecting a moderate level. The mean score of religious attitude was 133.86±19.37, reflecting a high level. Additionally, a significant relationship was observed between the scores of knowledge and attitude toward spiritual care, religious attitude, and some demographic variables (P<0.05). Conclusion: The current level of knowledge and attitude toward spiritual care is inadequate to provide holistic care for end-of-life patients. It is assumed that nursing is performed on a scientific knowledge-based approach toward patients that considers the wellbeing of the whole person. The meaning and understanding are essential when conceptualizing the idea of caring for the whole person and how this is applied by nurses in healthcare. However, the meaning and understanding of holism varies widely according to research. The aim of this study was to show how a holistic approach is comprehended in studies about nurses' views to nursing. The study's design adopts an inductive interpretive approach. We conducted a qualitative literature review based on empirical, peer-reviewed studies retrieved from CINAHL Complete, MEDLINE and PsycInfo (EbscoHost). In all 126 papers were included for full text review, 17 papers were eligible for thematic analysis representing a variation in views on a holistic approach to nursing. Findings showed three different approaches: ontological-philosophical oriented: partnership/alliance oriented: help and need oriented. Interpreting the findings through the lens of Heidegger's view on holism - moving from a needs approach to towards a consciousness view, suggests that a deeper ontological awareness is needed to avoid a reductionist understanding of holism related to nursing. Introduction: Diabetes is associated with an increased risk of stroke. In many cases, a diabetes diagnosis may predate a stroke; however, diabetes is often diagnosed during the hospital admission following a stroke. To explore the experiences of stroke survivors as they cope with a new diabetes diagnosis, particularly regarding developing an effective strategy for managing the disease. Methods: A qualitative grounded theory approach was used that employed focus group interviews with participants, including clinicians and stroke survivors, to develop a holistic understanding of primary and secondary stroke care services and the experiences of those accessing them. Results: Clinicians believed they were not optimally equipped to manage diabetes as a condition. They believed more emphasis should be placed on self-management, which would be better managed by lifestyle changes than medication alone. Conversely, stroke survivors with diabetes experienced an additional burden associated with the diagnoses but relied on clinicians to manage their diabetes and believed the clinicians were failing if they were unwilling or unable to achieve this. Discussion: The research highlights the tensions between stroke survivors and healthcare professionals. Stroke survivors relied on the healthcare teams to provide the optimal treatment when they had recently undergone a significant health event where they had experienced a stroke and received a diabetes diagnosis. However, the healthcare teams, while recognizing the importance of a holistic and comprehensive treatment package, struggled to provide it due to resource limitations. To optimize post-stroke diabetes self-management education, a strategic framework that prioritizes patient empowerment and interdisciplinary collaboration is paramount. Tailoring educational interventions to align with individual patient profiles--considering their unique health status, personal preferences, and cultural context--is essential for fostering selfefficacy. Such a strategy not only empowers patients to take an active role in managing their diabetes post-stroke but also contributes to superior health outcomes and an elevated standard of living. Background: The management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) primarily emphasizes physical care, yet the quality of life (QoL) remains suboptimal. The management of diabetes often neglects psychological, socio-cultural, and spiritual aspects, which are essential components of transcultural nursing. Developing a holistic nursing model rooted in transcultural nursing, which has never been broadly investigated, is imperative to enhance QoL in individuals with T2DM. Purpose: This study aimed to develop a nursing model based on transcultural nursing to enhance the QoL of individuals with T2DM. Methods: This study employed a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 145 individuals with T2DM was recruited using a simple random sampling technique. A self-developed questionnaire was used, incorporating factors from Dossey's holistic nursing model, Leininger's transcultural nursing model, and a QoL questionnaire. Inferential statistics using smart PLS-structural equation modeling (SEM) were employed for data analysis. Results: The findings revealed that the holistic nursing model based on transcultural nursing in individuals with T2DM was influenced directly by respondent characteristics (t=3.313, p=0.001), religious and life philosophy (t=2.836, p=0.005), social and kinship (t=2.579, p=0.010), cultural and lifestyle (t=2.833, p=0.005), biological (t=2.718, p=0.007), and psychological (t=2.497, p=0.013) factors. However, the technological factor was not significantly (t=0.802, p=0.423) associated with the model. The holistic nursing model based on transcultural nursing had a direct influence on the quality of life (t=9.124 and p=0.000). Conclusion: The holistic nursing model based on transcultural nursing encompasses six variables: respondent characteristics, religious and life philosophy, social and kinship, cultural and lifestyle, and biological and psychological factors. Healthcare plays a crucial role in public and national safety as a significant part of state activity and a component of national safety, whose mission is to organize and ensure affordable medical care for the population. The four stages of the genesis of healthcare safety development with the corresponding safety models of formation were defined: technical, human factor or security management, systemic security management, and cognitive complexity. It was established that at all stages, little attention is paid to the issues of the formation of the pharmaceutical sector's safety. Taking into account the development of safety models that arise during the four stages of the genesis of safety science, we have proposed a model of the evolution of pharmaceutical safety formation. At the same time, future research is proposed to focus on new holistic concepts of safety, such as "Safety II", evaluation and validation methods, especially in the pharmaceutical sector, where the development of this topic remained in the second stage of the evolution of science, the search for pharmaceutical errors related to drugs. Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the death anxiety (DA) and spiritual well-being (SWB) levels of first-degree family members of patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU). Methods: The data of this descriptive correlational type of study were collected through a faceto-face interview and survey with 308 family members who came to visit family members treated in the ICU of a public hospital in the western province of Turkey. Results were analyzed with SPSS software version 22. Results: The average Death Anxiety Scale (DAS) score of the family members is 7.99 (3.15), which is above the middle value (min/max; 0-15), and the average Spiritual Well-Being Scale (SWBS) score is 121.83 (12.91), which is relatively high (min/max; 29-145). Background: An informed understanding of older adults' perceptions of the impact (positive or negative) of recurrent COVID-19 long lockdowns is important for the development of targeted interventions and resources for future restrictions. This study aimed to understand self-reported impacts of COVID-19 recurrent restrictions on older adults and how technology has been used to mitigate these. Methods: A cross-sectional national study of 257 community-dwelling older Australians based in Victoria (mean age = 67.6 years [SD = 7.2]; 20.6% male) completed an online or postal survey as part of a larger study examining the physical and mental health impacts of a second extended COVID-19 lockdown period. This secondary analysis reports on the findings from free-text responses to two open-ended questions included in that survey that asked participants to comment on the greatest impacts of the COVID-19 lockdowns (positive or negative) and the role of technology in supporting their wellbeing during this time. Responses were collected between July and September 2020. Data were analysed using content (COVID-19 impacts) and thematic (role of technology) analysis. Results: Respondents gave more negative responses (75.5%) than mixed (15.2%) and positive responses (6.2%) in reporting on the biggest impact of COVID-19 lockdowns. Inductive content analysis revealed two first-order main categories (Positive impacts and Negative impacts). Axial coding of main categories showed five second-order categories (Environmental, Physical Health, Social, Mental Health, and Personal) for both negative and positive main categories (totalling 10 second-order categories). Overall, respondents highlighted social loss as the key negative experience (70%), with acute feelings of social isolation contributing to negative impacts on mental wellbeing. The most commonly reported positive impact reported (11%) was having more time for relationships, relaxation, and new hobbies. Technology was primarily used to sustain socialisation and provide access to essential resources, services, and goods, which respondents perceived to contribute to maintaining their wellbeing. Conclusions: Findings suggest a critical need for interventions that address the social loss experienced by older adults during COVID-19 recurrent lockdowns, particularly to alleviate the associated negative impact on mental wellbeing. Recognising the positive aspect of increased time for relationships and leisure activities indicates potential areas for resilience-building strategies. The pivotal role of technology in mitigating adverse effects highlights its significance in building social connections and supporting overall wellbeing during challenging times. Background: This study aimed to understand the experiences of nurses working in the integrated nursing care service, a relatively recent addition to the Korean hospital infrastructure, to suggest ways in which to address their grievances and needs and improve their job satisfaction, thereby reducing turnover. Methods: This study adopted a qualitative approach to explore subjects' vivid experiences. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 17 nurses with over one year of experience working in integrated nursing care wards. The main question asked was "Can you describe your experiences in the integrated nursing care ward?" All interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using Colaizzi's method for phenomenological research. Results: Six theme clusters were derived from the analysis: "distorted perceptions of the integrated nursing care ward," "challenges owing to distorted perceptions of the integrated nursing care ward," "loneliness and fighting alone," "being ridiculed," "practicing textbook holistic care," and "the satisfaction felt only in the integrated nursing care ward." For the overarching theme, we identified "Satisfaction in providing holistic care despite the challenges." Conclusions: While working in the integrated nursing care ward, nurses practiced holistic nursing care, which in turn built their self-esteem. However, they experienced greater levels of stress as a result of misinformation. Therefore, dissemination of accurate information is necessary to correct public misunderstandings of the integrated nursing care wards. Further, adequate compensation and support systems are needed to relieve the stress nurses felt because of such misunderstandings. Additionally, nurses should be motivated to continue to provide quality care for the patients and take pride in their work. Background: Persons with mental illness as their sole underlying medical condition are eligible to access medical assistance in dying (MAiD) in a small number of countries, including Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg and Switzerland. In Canada, it is anticipated that people experiencing mental illness as their sole underlying medical condition (MI-SUMC) will be eligible to request MAiD as of March 17th 2024. To date, few studies have addressed patient and family perspectives on MAiD MI-SUMC care processes. This study aimed to address this gap and qualitatively explore the perspectives of persons with lived experience of mental illness and family members on care considerations during MI-SUMC implementation. Methods: Thirty adults with lived experience of mental illness and 25 adult family members residing in Ontario participated in this study. To facilitate participant engagement, the semi-structured interview used a persona-scenario exercise to discuss perspectives on MAiD MI-SUMC acceptability and care considerations. Framework analysis was used to inductively analyze data using NVivo 12 Pro. Steps, processes, or other care considerations suggested by the participants were charted in a framework matrix after familiarization with the narratives. Key themes were further identified. A lived-experience advisory group participated in every aspect of this study. Results: Six themes were developed from the patient and family narratives: (1) Raising MAiD MI-SUMC awareness; (2) Sensitive Introduction of MAiD MI-SUMC in goals of care discussions; (3) Asking for MAiD MI-SUMC: a person-focused response; (4) A comprehensive circle of MAiD MI-SUMC care; (5) A holistic, person-centered assessment process; and (6) Need for support in the aftermath of the decision. These themes highlighted a congruence of views between patient and family members and described key desired process ingredients, including a person-centred non-judgmental stance by care providers, inter-professional holistic care, shared decision making, and the primacy of patient autonomy in healthcare decision making. Conclusions: Family and patient perspectives on the implementation of MAiD MI-SUMC offer important considerations for service planning that could complement existing and emerging professional practice standards. Background: Supportive end-of-life care plays a significant role for patients with cancer. Significantly, art and aesthetics in nursing are regarded as key components of nursing practice. They may contribute to supportive end-of-life care that nurses provide for patients with cancer. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effectiveness of aesthetic care training on nurses' perceptions of end-of-life care in patients with cancer. Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted with two groups of nurses working in the oncology wards of two hospitals in Kerman, Iran. A sample consisting of 100 nurses was selected by census and randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 49) and a control group (n = 51). The experimental group received educational workshops on aesthetic care over four weekly-held 90-minute sessions. Both groups completed the Oncology Nurses' Perceptions of End-Of-Life Care (ONPEoLC) Scale before, immediately after, and one month after the intervention. The data were analyzed with SPSS software version 21 using t-test, Chi-square, and repeated measures ANOVA. The significance level was set to p < 0.05. Results: The mean baseline scores on the ONPEoLC Scale were 163.08 ± 13.58 in the experimental group and 163.27 ± 14.57 in the control group. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). Post-intervention mean scores in the experimental and control groups were 187.1 ± 18.22 and 159.11 ± 22.11, respectively, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P < 0.001). One month after the intervention, the experimental and control groups' mean scores were 190.89 ± 11.13 and 165.80 ± 11.69, respectively, with a significant difference between the groups (P = 0.001). Conclusion: Based on the results of the present study, designing aesthetic care educational programs is an effective way to improve nurses' understanding of end-of-life care. Background: Health disparities are often a function of systemic discrimination and healthcare providers' biases. In recognition of this, health science programs have begun to offer training to foster cultural proficiency (CP) in future professionals. However, there is not yet consensus about the best ways to integrate CP into didactic and clinical education, and little is known about the role of clinical rotations in fostering CP. Methods: Here, a mixed-methods approach was used to survey students (n = 131) from a private all-graduate level osteopathic health sciences university to gain insight into the training approaches students encountered related to CP and how these may vary as a function of academic progression. The research survey included instruments designed to quantify students' implicit associations, beliefs, and experiences related to the CP training they encountered through the use of validated instruments, including Implicit Association Tests and the Ethnocultural Empathy Inventory, and custom-designed questions. Results: The data revealed that most students (73%) had received CP training during graduate school which primarily occurred via discussions, lectures, and readings; however, the duration and students' perception of the training varied substantially (e.g., training range = 1–100 hours). In addition, while students largely indicated that they valued CP and sought to provide empathetic care to their patients, they also expressed personal understandings of CP that often fell short of advocacy and addressing personal and societal biases. The results further suggested that clinical rotations may help students attenuate implicit biases but did not appear to be synergistic with pre-clinical courses in fostering other CP knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Conclusions: These findings highlight the need to utilize evidence-based pedagogical practices to design intentional, integrated, and holistic CP training throughout health science programs that employ an intersectional lens and empowers learners to serve as advocates for their patients and address systemic challenges. AIM: The study aimed to examine the relationship among professional growth-need strength, care-task characteristics, critical thinking, and holistic nursing competencies after a care-task design and clinical reasoning program intervention in nursing students. METHODS: This study used a longitudinal study design. The study was conducted from August 12, 2019 to July 30, 2020. Participants were thirdyear nursing students of a medical university. Data were collected by questionnaires at three time points. Structural equation modeling was used to examine the relationship among all measures variables. RESULTS: A total of 91 students participated in the study. The results show that growth-need strength had a significant positive effect on caretask characteristic and critical thinking and a nonsignificant effect on holistic nursing competencies. Care-task characteristics, however, had a significant positive effect on critical thinking, resulting in improvement in holistic nursing competencies. It is worth noting that the moderating effect of growth-need strength on care-task characteristics and nursing competence relationships could not be established. CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest the importance of improving students' perceived care-task characteristics through an objective structured clinical examination and, at the same time, promoting students' critical thinking and improving their professional abilities. Purpose: Elucidation of the cardio-oncologic knowledge among the oncology nurses of tertiary hospitals in Shanxi Province to provide better insights and directions for management by nursing managers.Background: China's National Health and Wellness Commission issued the Action Plan for Further Improving Nursing Services in June 2023, which requires nurses to provide patients with physical and mental holistic nursing services, such as medical care, condition observation, assistance with treatment, and health guidance. Most oncology patients are treated with chemotherapy, but the modality can cause greater harm to patients, especially cardiotoxicity. How to provide precise care for chemotherapy patients is a problem for nursing managers.Methods: In order to investigate the level of cardio-oncologic knowledge among the oncology nurses of tertiary care hospitals in Shanxi Province, China, a questionnaire was created based on the relevant literature and the provided instructions on cardio-oncology. The chi-squared test was performed for multiple comparisons of the level of knowledge of disease observation, health guidance, and implementation of treatment. Spearman correlation analysis was performed to analyze the correlation between the levels of cardio-oncologic knowledge and general information of hospitals and nurses.Results: Cardio-oncology awareness among the oncology nurses was 0.1%– 44.7%, the awareness rate of single dimension was 0 to 3.9%, and overall awareness rate was 0. A partially significant difference was revealed in the two-by-two comparisons of the awareness rates of the three dimensions of disease observation, health guidance, and implementation of treatment (P < 0.05). A correlation was observed between the cardio-oncologic knowledge and some of the hospital and the nurses' general information data (P < 0.05).Conclusion: Oncology nurses exhibited a low rate of awareness related to cardio-oncology. Hospitals could establish oncology nursing teams to train the oncology nurses to promote their cardio-oncologic knowledge and ensure the quality of daily care provided by these nurses. Psychedelics are a class of psychoactive substances that were studied extensively between 1943 and 1970 as potential therapies for treating a host of mental health disorders, including addiction. Despite promising early results, U.S. psychedelic research was halted in the early 1970s with the enactment of the Controlled Substances Act. As the field of psychedelic-assisted therapy develops, nurses can decide the role they will play in the continuing clinical and scholarly research of these substances, which may soon be used in controlled settings to treat some of the most widespread mental health disorders. Background: Researchers in the Netherlands proposed the Pillars for Positive Health (PPH) as a broadly encompassing health definition to support more realistic and meaningful care planning for people living with chronic disease and other life-long health conditions. The PPH was subsequently converted to the My Positive Health (MPH) spider web visualization tool. This study sought to identify opportunities for more person-centred care planning at the point of care in home care, using the MPH tool as a framework to link comprehensive assessment and dialogue-based goal-setting. Methods: A modified eDelphi method was used to conduct domain mapping with a purposively sampled expert panel (n = 25). The panel consisted of researchers, health care providers, older adults and caregivers. A two-stage eDelphi process was conducted, with each stage consisting of three survey rounds. In the first stage, participants were asked to map 201 elements of the interRAI Home Care (interRAI HC) comprehensive assessment tool to the six MPH domains or "No pillar of best fit". The second stage focused on identifying opportunities to adapt or expand comprehensive assessment as it relates to the MPH domains. Results: In Stage 1, 189 of 201 elements reached consensus in domain mapping. These included: 80 elements for Bodily Functions, 32 for Daily Functioning, 32 for Mental Wellbeing, 24 for Quality of Life, 10 for Participation, and 1 for Meaningfulness. Ten elements were identified to have no pillar of best fit. The 12 elements that did not reach consensus in Stage 1 formed the basis for Stage 2, where expert panel participants proposed four new assessment elements in Meaningfulness and Participation and 11 additional descriptors across the six MPH domains. Of these, two elements and nine of the 11 descriptors reached consensus. Conclusion: Findings show that elements of the interRAI HC are oriented toward the physical, functional, and mental health domains. Consequently, complementary assessment elements and/or tools may be needed to support comprehensive assessment of 'Meaningfulness' and 'Participation' in person-centred home and community care. Background: In situ simulation is the practice of using simulated scenarios to improve skill implementation, train critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and enhance self-efficacy. This study aimed to enhance nursing knowledge, skills, and attitudes toward clinical work by applying in situ simulation training to improve the healthcare of critically ill patients. Methods: This study was conducted from a medical center in northern Taiwan and included 86 trainees who received intensive care training courses from 1 June 2017 to 31 May 2019. The self-report knowledge assessment, empathetic self-efficacy scale, skill assessment, and attitudes of instructors before and after training were collected. The statistical analysis used the Wilcoxon test for knowledge and attitudes, and chi-square tests were used for skills to evaluate the learning effect. Results: The results showed a statistically significant improvement in knowledge, skills, attitudes, and empathy in nursing care. Conclusions: In situ simulation learning can be an accepted method for nursing skills in the intensive care unit. Through this study, we understood that the in situ simulation method was beneficial to nurses' care and care thinking processes. Background: Holistic nursing care is an approach to patient care that takes into account the physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs of the patient. Providing holistic care has been found to be an effective way to prevent diseases and death, as well as improve the quality of healthcare provided to patients. However, despite its perceived benefits, many nurses lack experience with holistic care and only focus on patients' physical needs, treating them as biological machines while ignoring their spiritual, mental, and social needs. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the practice of holistic nursing care and its associated factors among nurses. Methods: A hospital-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 422 sampled Nurses working in public hospitals in Wolaita Zone. Systematic random sampling was applied to select the study participants. A self-administered, pretested questionnaire was used to collect the data. The collected data were entered into Epi Data version 4.6 and analyzed using SPSS version 25. Binary and multivariable logistic regression analyses were used to identify factors associated with holistic nursing care practice. Statistical significance was declared at a p-value less than 0.05. The strength of the association was indicated by the AOR and 95% CI. Result: The study found that the overall practice of holistic nursing care was 21%. Nurses with a diploma in nursing (AOR: 0.28; 95% CI: 0.11, 0.71), nurses working in a hospital with no continuous in-service learning (AOR: 0.39; 95% CI: 0.20, 0.76), nurses with a poor relationship with patients (AOR: 0.31; 95% CI: 0.16, 0.58), and nurses with poor knowledge of holistic nursing care practice (AOR: 0.41; 95% CI: 0.21, 0.7) were factors associated with a lower likelihood of practicing holistic nursing care. Conclusion: This study found that the practice of holistic nursing care among nurses working in public hospitals in the Wolaita Zone was low. Level of education, the unit of work, continuous in-service learning, the nurse-patient relationship, and the knowledge of nurses were factors associated with holistic nursing care. Being holistic is often used by occupational therapists to describe their practice and philosophy worldwide. This study explores the perspectives of 33 occupational therapists, working in 13 different countries, on their understanding of holistic epistemology and practice and how they seek to incorporate holism in their work. On the basis of a qualitative study design, individual interviews were conducted with the participants by 18 Norwegian undergraduate occupational therapy students, supported by their supervisors. The authors subsequently analyzed the transcribed data, using a thematic analysis approach. Three principal themes emerged: (1) holism as a broad and narrow concept, (2) being holistic spans from treating body parts to teaching marginalized children, and (3) being holistic is a lot to ask. When talking about holism and holistic practice, participants described their holistic practices in various ways, and their accounts reflected different understandings and cultural contexts. Participants characterized a holistic approach as one emphasizing the importance of occupations and activities and helping patients regain independence in their everyday lives. However, they also highlighted the specific challenges they faced, including cultural factors and inadequate resources. Significantly, participants from both Western and non-Western contexts emphasized the importance of holistic practice, suggesting that a dichotomous understanding of Eastern versus Western philosophical approaches does not necessarily make sense in occupational therapy interventions. Therapists' degree of commitment to client-centered practice appears of greater relevance. With its international perspective, our study sheds light on important areas of contemporary occupational therapy practice, including the difficulties occupational therapists face when seeking to cover "everything" in an effort to be more holistic. Background: Social work with people who use drugs (PWUD) has traditionally focused on abstinence and rehabilitation. In recent years, harm reduction has gained an increasingly more important role in social work with PWUD, and social workers are key professionals in many harm reduction services. This study investigates how social workers in harm reduction services for PWUD in Sweden understand the concept of harm reduction and how it relates to goals of rehabilitation, and how they assess and deal with dilemmas and challenges in everyday work. Methods: The study is based on interviews with 22 social workers in harm reduction services for PWUD in the Scania region of Sweden. A thematic analysis in three steps was used in coding and processing the data. Results: The social workers pointed to similar values between social work and harm reduction and argued for combining the two fields to improve services for PWUD. Three overarching principles for Harm Reduction Social Work (HRSW) were developed based on the social workers accounts: (1) Harm reduction is a prerequisite for rather than a counterpoint to rehabilitation and recovery, (2) motivational work must be non-mandatory and based on the client's goals, (3) a holistic perspective is crucial for Harm Reduction Social Work. Challenges in doing HRSW concerned restrictive laws, policies, and guidelines, resistance from managers, difficulties in setting boundaries between client autonomy and life-saving interventions, and the risk of normalizing high-risk behaviors. Conclusions: We use the concept of Harm Reduction Social Work to show how social work with PWUD can have a primary focus on reducing harm and risks, while at the same time it involves a holistic perspective that facilitates motivation and change. The suggested principles of HRSW can provide guidance in practical social work with vulnerable PWUD. Preparing to enter old age is crucial for accommodating longevity. However, a holistic view of socio-culture and natural environments that influences the healthiness of older people is not clearly explained. This focused ethnographic study was conducted between December 2017 and July 2019 and aimed to describe the healthy ways of life of older people in a rural community of northeastern Thailand (Isan) and the influence of socio-culture and natural environment. Fifteen people 70-87 years old and 15 of the people involved were interviewed in-depth, and focus group interviews, participant observations, and document reviews were also conducted. The study found that healthiness was determined by physical strength and self-reliance and a peaceful mind and happy life. Living in harmony with the community's nature and socio-culture was the healthy way of life indicated by natural/Isan food, modest physical activities, a peaceful life, community participation, and folk/modern health remedies. Their sense of healthiness was influenced by the conversion of the community in a concordant interweaving manner, including the preserved nature in the developed infrastructure, sufficiency/reliance in expanding networks, and spirituality in contemporary viewpoints. Healthy older people benefited from the community development mediated by the younger people. A holistic approach to natural resources and socio-culture with a balance between conservation and development is recommended for developing rural community nursing guidelines to achieve a healthy way of life for older people and others who are aging. Background: To address the challenges in nursing education brought about by the pandemic, this study aimed to evaluate the use of a web-based standardized patient practice in the development of nursing students' anamnesis taking skills and their views about its application. Method: We conducted a descriptive intervention study with 39 s-year nursing students. The students completed anamnesis using the standardized patient practice in line with a scenario with real standardized patients in a web-based environment with audio and video. Results: The total scores of students' anamnesis skills were low. The agreement between the total scores, scores obtained from the health patterns, and each item in the control list was statistically significant (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Web-based standardized patient practice is an alternative for clinical practice facilitating the gaining of competencies in making holistic nursing diagnoses under conditions that limit face-to-face interactions, such as pandemics. The study was conducted between March and June 2019. Seven Polish Nursing Faculties accepted the invitation to participate in the study. A representative sample of 853 nurses enrolled in MSc (postgraduate) programs in nursing participated. After translation and cultural adaption of the SSCRS, the instrument underwent a full psychometric evaluation of its construct validity using (exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis), internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha and correlation analysis), reliability (test−retest analysis), known-group validity (Student’s t-test) analysis.Results: The exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated that the Polish version of the SSCRS was a three-factor model with “Activity-centred spiritual care” (9 items), “Emotional support-centred spiritual care” (5 items) and “Religiosity” (3 items) domains. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the whole scale was 0.902, and the alpha values for the individual domains were 0.898, 0.873 and 0.563, respectively. The three domains mentioned above seemed to provide a comprehensive understanding of spiritual care perceived subjectively by Polish MSc in nursing students.Conclusion: This study demonstrated a substantial degree of similarity in the selected psychometric characteristics of the Polish version of SSCRS and the original scale.Keywords: spirituality, holistic nursing, nursing care, postgraduate nursing education

Objective To explore the application effect of holistic nursing mode based on responsibility system in quality nursing service of Central Sterile Supply Department. Methods Totally 229560 packs of medical instruments which were sterilized between August 2020 and August 2021 were selected as the control group, and the routine management mode was adopted. Another 218845 packs of medical instruments sterilized from September 2021 to September 2022 were selected as the observation group, and the holistic nursing model based on responsibility system was adopted. The incidence of defect package and unqualified rate of pretreatment were compared between two groups, and satisfaction of clinical medical staff was measured. Results The incidence of defective packages and the unqualified rate of pretreatment in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0. 01). Totally 56 medical staff were recruited for the questionnaire survey, and the score of satisfaction assessment after implementation of holistic nursing mode (observation group)was higher than that before implementation of holistic nursing mode(control group) (P＜0. 01). Conclusion The implementation of the holistic nursing model based on responsibility system can improve the quality of nursing service in the Central Sterile Supply Department. Objective To explore the application and effectiveness of holistic nursing based on SWOT in platelet collection at blood stations. Methods SWOT analysis was used to analyze the causes of adverse reactions to blood donation in platelet donors, put forward countermeasures and take holistic nursing measures. Routine nursing was adopted from January to June 2021, and holistic nursing based on SWOT analysis was adopted from July to December 2021. The adverse reactions and the nursing quality before and after the implementation of holistic nursing in the two groups were compared, and the satisfaction of blood donors to the nurses was analyzed. Results After the implementation of holistic nursing based on SWOT analysis, the incidence of adverse reactions in blood donation was 2%(2/100) in the observation group, significantly lower than 11%(11/100) in the control group(P

Introduction. Attention to the spiritual dimension of patients and families is fundamental as part of the active role of nursing professionals in satisfying the spiritual needs of patients. Objective. To understand the attitudes towards spiritual care of nursing professionals in training. Methodology. Qualitative study with content analysis, with a population of 20 higher education Nursing students, with convenience sampling. Semi-structured interviews and two focus groups were held to explore spiritual self-knowledge and the conceptions of spiritual care, using the theoretical concepts proposed by McSherry as a reference. Data was initially analyzed inductively, with help from the Iramuteq software. Results. Spirituality is considered an intrapersonal dimension in which the need to explore one’s own spirituality in recognized, in order to approach the spiritual perception of the patient. Learning about crises for the development of a personal spirituality and finding oneself through nature were part of the observed categories. Discussion. The conception of spiritual care as an intrapersonal dimension helps students differentiate between spirituality and religion. This aspecto has been observable during educational practice, since there were some very religious people and others who were not. Conclusions. Reference is made to the relationship between that which is spiritual and corporeal, and though there is a difference between spirituality and religion, both concepts must be assessed personally. La atención de la dimensión espiritual en pacientes y familias es fundamental como parte del papel activo de los profesionales de enfermería en la satisfacción de las necesidades espirituales de los pacientes. Objetivo. Comprender las actitudes frente al cuidado espiritual de los profesionales de enfermería en formación. Metodología. Estudio de abordaje cualitativo, con análisis de contenido, con población de 20 estudiantes de educación superior de Enfermería, con un muestreo por conveniencia. Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas y dos grupos focales para indagar sobre el autoconocimiento espiritual y las concepciones del cuidado espiritual, tomando como referencia los conceptos teóricos propuestos por McSherry. El análisis de los datos inicialmente se hizo de forma inductiva, con ayuda del software Iramuteq. Resultados. La espiritualidad se considera una dimensión intrapersonal donde se reconoce la necesidad de explorar su propia espiritualidad para acercarse a la percepción espiritual del paciente. Aprender de las crisis para el desarrollo de la espiritualidad personal y encontrarse desde la naturaleza fueron parte de las categorías encontradas. Discusión. La concepción del cuidado espiritual para los estudiantes como dimensión intrapersonal, les permite distinguir entre la espiritualidad y la religiosidad. Este es un aspecto que se ha podido ver durante el desarrollo de las prácticas formativas, ya que se han encontrado personas muy religiosas, así como otras que no lo son. Conclusiones. A concepção de cuidado espiritual para os alunos como uma dimensão intrapessoal, permite-lhes distinguir entre espiritualidade e religiosidade. Este é um aspecto que se tem visto ao longo do desenvolvimento das práticas formativas, uma vez que foram encontradas pessoas muito religiosas e outras não. Conclusões. É feita referência à relação entre o espiritual e o corpóreo e, embora haja uma diferença entre religião e espiritualidade, os dois conceitos devem ser valorizados a nível pessoal.

Background: As a familiar yet abstract and vague concept for nurses, healing is affected by the cultural needs of different communities. The concept of healing is nowadays recommended in nursing theories, and its clarification can develop healing-based nursing care. The present study was conducted to objectify and clarify the concept of healing in nursing care. Methods: The present research employed a hybrid concept analysis model developed by Schwartz-Barcott and Kim. The conceptual analysis model of Walker & Avant was used in the theoretical phase, i.e., literature review, where relevant articles in PubMed, ISI, Google Scholar, Scopus, SID and Magiran were reviewed irrespective of publication time. Unstructured interviews were conducted with ten participants in the field data collection phase. A final analysis was performed by combining the two phases. Results: The theoretical phase identified healing characteristics such as balancing and hope-making originated from mental and spiritual states. Analyzing the data in the fieldwork stage extracted five main themes, i.e. "comprehensive psychophysical health", "cure, a small part of healing", "healing, a spiritual recovery", "an individual's own role in healing" and "healing, an unexpected event". During the patient care process, nurses can help patients heal by establishing appropriate communication and comprehensive understanding of the patients by designing and implementing appropriate interventions and integrating healing strategies into their comprehensive care measures. Conclusions: The concept of healing in nursing care is a general and complex process, and different people can interpret it differently on their road to health. Properly understanding the concept of healing enables nurses to assist patients in achieving health and healing through proper communication, holistic care, empowering patients to perform self-care and providing spiritual care.
