Demand response-based load scheduling in smart power grids is currently one of the most important topics in energy optimization. There are several benefits to utility companies and their customers from this strategy. The main goal of this work is to employ a load scheduling controller (LSC) to model and solve the scheduling issue for household appliances. The LSC offers a solution to the primary problems faced during implementing demand response. The goal is to minimize peak-to-average demand ratios (PADR) and electricity bills while preserving customer satisfaction. Time-varying pricing, intermittent renewable energy, domestic appliance energy demand, storage battery, and grid constraints are all incorporated into the model. The optimal adaptive wind-driven optimization (OAWDO) method is a stochastic optimization technique designed to manage supply, demand, and power price uncertainties. LSC creates the ideal schedule for home appliance running periods using the OAWDO algorithm. This guarantees that every appliance runs as economically as possible on its own. Most appliances run the risk of functioning during low-price hours if just the real time-varying price system is used, which could result in rebound peaks. We combine an inclined block tariff with a real-time-varying price to alleviate this problem. MATLAB is used to do a load scheduling simulation for home appliances based on the OAWDO algorithm. By contrasting it with other algorithms, including the genetic algorithm (GA), the whale optimization algorithm (WOA), the fire-fly optimization algorithm (FFOA), and the wind-driven optimization (WDO) algorithms, the effectiveness of the OAWDO technique is supported. Integrating Green Renewable Energy Sources (GRES) as substitutes for fossil fuel-based energy sources is essential for reducing harmful emissions. The GRES are intermittent and their integration into the conventional IEEE 30 bus configuration increases the complexity and nonlinearity of the system. The Grey Wolf optimizer (GWO) has excellent exploration capability but needs exploitation capability to enhance its convergence speed. Adding particle swarm optimization (PSO) with excellent convergence capability to GWO leads to the development of a novel algorithm, namely a Grey Wolf particle swarm optimization (GWPSO) algorithm with excellent exploration and exploitation capabilities. This study utilizes the advantages of the GWPSO algorithm to solve the optimal power flow (OPF) problem for adaptive IEEE 30 bus systems, including thermal, solar photovoltaic (SP), wind turbine (WT), and small hydropower (SHP) sources. Weibull, Lognormal, and Gumbel probability density functions (PDFs) are employed to forecast the output power of WT, SP, and SHP power sources after evaluating 8000 Monte Carlo possibilities, respectively. The multi-objective green economic optimal solution consisted of 11 control variables to reduce the cost, power losses, and harmful emissions. The proposed method to address the OPF problem is validated using an adaptive IEEE bus system. The proposed GWPSO algorithm is evaluated by comparing it with PSO and GWO optimization algorithms in terms of achieving an optimal green economic solution for the adaptive IEEE 30 bus system. This evaluation is conducted within the confines of the same test system using identical system constraints and control variables. The integration of a small SHP with WT and SP sources, along with the proposed GWPSO algorithm, led to a yearly cost reduction ranging from $ 19,368 to $ 30,081. Simulation findings endorsed that the proposed GWPSO algorithm executes fruitfully compared to alternative algorithms regarding a consistent convergence curve and robustness, proving its potential as a viable choice for achieving cost-effective solutions in power systems incorporating GRES. Accurate load forecasting plays a crucial role in the effective energy management of smart cities. However, the smart cities' residents' load profile is nonlinear, having high volatility, uncertainty, and randomness. Forecasting such nonlinear profiles requires accurate and stable prediction models. On this note, a prediction model has been developed by combining feature preprocessing, a multilayer perceptron, and a genetic wind-driven optimization algorithm, namely FPP-MLP-GWDO. The developed hybrid model has three parts: (i) feature preprocessing (FPP), (ii) a multilayer perceptron (MLP), and (iii) a genetic wind-driven optimization (GWDO) algorithm. The MLP is the key part of the developed model, which uses a multivariate autoregressive algorithm and rectified linear unit (ReLU) for network training. The developed hybrid model known as FPP-MLP-GWDO is evaluated using Dayton Ohio grid load data regarding aspects of accuracy (the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), Theil's inequality coefficient (TIC), and the correlation coefficient (CC)) and convergence speed (computational time (CT) and convergence rate (CR)). The findings endorsed the validity and applicability of the developed model compared to other literature models such as the feature selection–support vector machine–modified enhanced differential evolution (FS-SVM-mEDE) model, the feature selection–artificial neural network (FS-ANN) model, the support vector machine–differential evolution algorithm (SVM-DEA) model, and the autoregressive (AR) model regarding aspects of accuracy and convergence speed. The findings confirm that the developed FPP-MLP-GWDO model achieved an accuracy of 98.9%, thus surpassing benchmark models such as the FS-ANN (96.5%), FS-SVM-mEDE (97.9%), SVM-DEA (97.5%), and AR (95.7%). Furthermore, the FPP-MLP-GWDO significantly reduced the CT (299s) compared to the FS-SVM-mEDE (350s), SVM-DEA (240s), FS-ANN (159s), and AR (132s) models. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
