Background: Despite increased clinical and research interest in sarcopenia, even in Asia, not much is known about the association between sarcopenia and depressive symptoms. Sarcopenia and depressive symptoms are associated with several health problems in older adults; therefore, we investigated the association between sarcopenia and depression in Korean older adults.Methods: The study sample included 1,929 participants aged over 60 years (44.6% men; mean age, 69.7 years) from nationally representative data of the 2018 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination survey. Possible sarcopenia was defined according to the diagnostic algorithm of the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia 2019; however, we measured only hand-grip strength (kg) in this study. Patient Health Questionnaire-9 was used for screening for symptoms of depression. A cross-sectional analysis was used to examine the relationship between possible sarcopenia and depressive symptoms.Results: Possible sarcopenia and depressive symptoms were identified in 538 (27.9%) and 97 (5.0%) participants, respectively. This review aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for opioid-sparing effects in patients who underwent abdominal surgery.Methods: Eleven databases in different languages, including English (Ovid MEDLINE, CENTRAL, EMBASE, CINAHL), Chinese, Korean, and Japanese, will be searched. Randomized controlled trials using acupuncture for postoperative pain control in adult patients undergoing abdominal surgery will be screened. All randomized controlled trials comparing acupuncture with no treatment, sham acupuncture, and conventional treatments will be included. The Cochrane risk of bias tool will be used to assess the risk of bias. The primary outcome will consist of a cumulative opioid consumption. Additionally, the number of cumulative opioid analgesic demands/requests, the time to initial opioid analgesic usage, postoperative pain, opioid-related side effects, and adverse events of acupuncture will be assessed. The mean differences or risk ratios with a 95% confidence interval will be calculated to estimate the pooled effect of acupuncture when it is possible to conduct a meta-analysis.Results: This study could confirm the effect of opioid-sparing on acupuncture after abdominal surgery.Conclusion: This study would evaluate the evidence on the effectiveness of acupuncture after abdominal surgery with a focus on opioid intake. Delirium is defined as a state that patient is in acute disturbance of consciousness with decreased ability to focus, maintain, or attention, accompanied by cognition change and perceptual disturbances. Postoperative delirium (POD) is a form of delirium, characterized in patients who have undergone surgical procedure and newly diagnosed with a delirium after surgical procedure and anesthesia. There is no definite mechanism how POD happens, but some possible causes are known : inflammation, neurotransmitter, chronic stress, metabolic disorders, electrolyte disorders and sleep-wake disturbance. Though incidence of POD is about 5%-15%, POD is still under-recognised among health care provider. And POD often fatal for patients. It can leads to increasing health care cost, making poor prognosis after surgery and lengthening hospital stay. Acupuncture is defined as an intervention stimulated specific points using needles with various manipulations. Acupuncture is widely used in managing pain recently but also used for mental problems like an anxiety, insomnia, anxiety, depression, dementia, cognitive impairment, and delirium. For producing sedation without complications, acupuncture could be a potential intervention for POD. There are several clinical trials that acupuncture is effective for POD. However, there is no systematic reviews of acupuncture on this condition. Therefore, the aim of this review is to draw a definitive conclusion on acupuncture for POD.

Pattern identification (PI) is a diagnostic method used in Traditional East Asian medicine (TEAM) to select appropriate and personalized acupuncture points and herbal medicines for individual patients. Developing a reproducible PI model using clinical information is important as it would reflect the actual clinical setting and improve the effectiveness of TEAM treatment. In this paper, we suggest a novel deep learning-based PI model with feature extraction using a deep autoencoder and k-means clustering through a cross-sectional study of sleep disturbance patient data. The data were obtained from an anonymous electronic survey in the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) members from August 16, 2021, to September 20, 2021. The survey instrument consisted of six sections: demographics, medical history, military duty, sleep-related assessments (Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), Berlin questionnaire, and sleeping environment), diet/nutrition-related assessments [dietary habit survey questionnaire and nutrition quotient (NQ)], and gastrointestinal-related assessments [gastrointestinal symptom rating scale (GSRS) and Bristol stool scale]. Principal component analysis (PCA) and a deep autoencoder were used to extract features, which were then clustered using the k-means clustering method. The Calinski-Harabasz index, silhouette coefficient, and within-cluster sum of squares were used for internal cluster validation and the final PSQI, Berlin questionnaire, GSRS, and NQ scores were used for external cluster validation. One-way analysis of variance followed by the Tukey test and chi-squared test were used for between-cluster comparisons. Among 4,869 survey responders, 2,579 patients with sleep disturbances were obtained after filtering using a PSQI score of >5. When comparing clustering performance using raw data and extracted features by PCA and the deep autoencoder, the best feature extraction method for clustering was the deep autoencoder (16 nodes for the first and third hidden layers, and two nodes for the second hidden layer). Our model could cluster three different PI types because the optimal number of clusters was determined to be three via the elbow method. After external cluster validation, three PI types were differentiated by changes in sleep quality, dietary habits, and concomitant gastrointestinal symptoms. This model may be applied to the development of artificial intelligence-based clinical decision support systems through electronic medical records and clinical trial protocols for evaluating the effectiveness of TEAM treatment.

Obesity is associated with chronic low back pain (CLBP), but the association between fat distribution and CLBP is unclear. This cross-sectional study evaluated the relationship using the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data. A total of 10,606 adults (average age: 45.4, female: 57.1%) were included. We estimated the regional fat distribution, waist circumference, and body fat proportion, compared the values in people with and without CLBP, and stratified the estimates by sex and obesity status using a multivariable linear model. There were no statistically significant differences in the average waist circumference between the people with and without CLBP (p = 0.731) and the average fat proportion between those with and without CLBP (p = 0.731). The average regional fat distribution was significantly higher in the people with CLBP than in those without CLBP, in the upper limbs (11.4%, 95% confidence interval [CI]: [11.3, 11.5] vs. 11.2%, 95% CI: [11.1, 11.3], p < 0.05) and in the lower limbs (31.9%, 95% CI: [31.6, 32.2] vs. 31.4%, 95% CI: [31.2, 31.6], p < 0.01). More obvious among men, fat distribution in the lower limbs is higher than in people without obesity (p < 0.001). People with CLBP tend to have a higher fat distribution in the limbs than those without it and obese people with CLBP would need to reduce the fat in the lower limbs.

Objectives; The accumulation and usefulness of clinical data have increased with IT development. While using clinical data that needs to be identifiable to obtain meaningful information, it is essential to ensure that data is de-identified and unnecessary clinical information is minimized to protect personal information. This process requires criteria and an appropriate method as there are clear identifiers as well as quasi-identifiers that are not readily identifiable. Methods; To formulate such a method, first, primary quasi-identifiers were selected by classifying information in 20 clinical personal information database tables into Direct-Identifier (DID), Quasi-Identifier (QI), Sensitive Attribute (SA), and Non-Sensitive Attribute (NSA) according to its type. Secondary QIs were then selected by assessing the risk for outliers by measuring uniqueness values of the selected data and scoring re-identification by calculating equivalence class of the influence on other data on QI removal. Third, the risk of re-identification of data users was numeralized and classified. Lastly, the final QI according to user class was determined by comparing the calculated re-identification scores to the threshold values of user classes. Results; Eventually, final QIs ranging from a minimum of 18 to a maximum of 28 were selected by making an assumption about user classes and using it as criteria. Conclusions; The QI selection method presented by the current investigators can be used by researchers at the final checkup stage before they de-identify the selected QIs. Therefore, clinical data users can securely and efficiently use clinical data containing personal information by objectively selecting QIs using the method proposed in the present study.

Context:Allium senescens Linn. (Liliaceae) (ASL) has been traditionally used in Korea and other Asian countries for improving digestive and liver functions. Objective: The anti-hepatofibrosis effect of ASL ethanol extract in cellular and experimental fibrosis rat model was investigated. Materials and methods:In vitro cell viability, cell cycle and apoptosis in hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) were studied using MTT assay, flow cytometry and Annexin V-FITC/PI staining. Thioacetamide (TAA; 200 mg/kg, i.p.)-induced liver fibrosis model using Sprague Dawley rats (n = 10) was developed in vivo by injecting TAA twice per week for 13 weeks. ASL (25 and 100 mg/kg) and silymarin (50 mg/kg) were administered through oral gavage 2 times per week from 7th to 13th week. Specific fibrotic-related biomarkers such as aspartate transaminase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), glutathione and hydroxyproline levels in serum were analyzed by spectrophotometer using commercial kits. Morphological, histopathological and fibrotic-related gene expression such as TGF-β, Col1α1 and α-SMA in liver tissues was estimated by hematoxylin and eosin staining, Picrosirius red stain and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, respectively. Results: ASL (0.1 mg/mL) and silymarin (0.05 mg/mL) treatment induced apoptosis (4.06% and 8.67%) in activated HSC-T6 cells, compared with control group (3.7%). The altered morphology in activated primary HSCs was also restored by ASL (0.1 mg/mL) treatment. The development of the wireless Internet environment enables smart devices to be interconnected in various environments to provide convenient services to users. Specifically, in connected vehicle and smart home, the infotainment system and home electronics are connected to the Internet to individually provide services to users. The connected vehicle uses the display panel to show users music, video, navigation, and so on desired, or to develop a service that reduces the burden of driving and allows other activities by autonomous vehicles. However, these services are designed and developed independently on the platform and are not suitable for the concept of residential space of the future society. In this article, we propose a smart life platform by combining the concepts of connected vehicle and smart home into one platform. It also provides the SLP-MCAF to provide secure services within the platform. The SLP-MCAF strongly reinforces the authentication of objects and introduces clusters to improve availability so that services are not separated from the automobile or home, and services are continuous. Through simulation, we demonstrate the stability and efficiency of the proposed platform.

A theory of the time-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (TRPES) is developed, which enables to explore the real-time electron dynamics of infinitely periodic crystalline solids. In the strongly correlated electron systems NiO and CuO, the early-stage dynamics of the valence band edge are found to be sharply contrasted between those in the spectra of TRPES. This provides a new dynamical insight to the Zaanen–Sawatzky–Allen (ZSA) classification scheme of correlated insulators and makes us assert that NiO dynamically behaves like the Mott–Hubbard insulator (MHI) and CuO like the charge transfer insulator (CTI). In the two-dimensional carbon layer graphene, the real-time electron dynamics of quantum-phase-dressed excited states, i.e., due to the Berry phase and the pseudospin correlation, are investigated in an unprecedented way through the time-resolved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (TR-ARPES). In particular, the dephasing dynamics of optically doped electrons and holes in the massless Dirac band, accompanying a field-induced gliding of the Dirac cone, are discovered.

BACKGROUND Postoperative length of stay is a key indicator in the management of medical resources and an indirect predictor of the incidence of surgical complications and the degree of recovery of the patient after cancer surgery. Recently, machine learning has been used to predict complex medical outcomes, such as prolonged length of hospital stay, using extensive medical information. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to develop a prediction model for prolonged length of stay after cancer surgery using a machine learning approach. METHODS In our retrospective study, electronic health records (EHRs) from 42,751 patients who underwent primary surgery for 17 types of cancer between January 1, 2000, and December 31, 2017, were sourced from a single cancer center. The EHRs included numerous variables such as surgical factors, cancer factors, underlying diseases, functional laboratory assessments, general assessments, medications, and social factors. To predict prolonged length of stay after cancer surgery, we employed extreme gradient boosting classifier, multilayer perceptron, and logistic regression models. Prolonged postoperative length of stay for cancer was defined as bed-days of the group of patients who accounted for the top 50% of the distribution of bed-days by cancer type. RESULTS In the prediction of prolonged length of stay after cancer surgery, extreme gradient boosting classifier models demonstrated excellent performance for kidney and bladder cancer surgeries (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve [AUC] >0.85). A moderate performance (AUC 0.70-0.85) was observed for stomach, breast, colon, thyroid, prostate, cervix uteri, corpus uteri, and oral cancers. For stomach, breast, colon, thyroid, and lung cancers, with more than 4000 cases each, the extreme gradient boosting classifier model showed slightly better performance than the logistic regression model, although the logistic regression model also performed adequately. We identified risk variables for the prediction of prolonged postoperative length of stay for each type of cancer, and the importance of the variables differed depending on the cancer type. After we added operative time to the models trained on preoperative factors, the models generally outperformed the corresponding models using only preoperative variables. CONCLUSIONS A machine learning approach using EHRs may improve the prediction of prolonged length of hospital stay after primary cancer surgery. This algorithm may help to provide a more effective allocation of medical resources in cancer surgery.

The absorption range of Si is extended to essential wavelength range of lidar sensor for self-driving car via strain engineering., Silicon has been widely used in the microelectronics industry. However, its photonic applications are restricted to visible and partial near-infrared spectral range owing to its fundamental optical bandgap (1.12 eV). With recent advances in strain engineering, material properties, including optical bandgap, can be tailored considerably. This paper reports the strain-induced shrinkage in the Si bandgap, providing photosensing well beyond its fundamental absorption limit in Si nanomembrane (NM) photodetectors (PDs). The Si-NM PD pixels were mechanically stretched (biaxially) by a maximum strain of ~3.5% through pneumatic pressure–induced bulging, enhancing photoresponsivity and extending the Si absorption limit up to 1550 nm, which is the essential wavelength range of the lidar sensors for obstacle detection in self-driving vehicles. The development of deformable three-dimensional optoelectronics via gas pressure–induced bulging also facilitated the realization of unique device designs with concave and convex hemispherical architectures, which mimics the electronic prototypes of biological eyes.

Background/Aims: Sofosbuvir plus ribavirin is a standard treatment for patients infected with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 2 in Korea. The purpose of this study was to examine the efficacy and safety of this treatment in Korean patients with chronic HCV genotype 2 infection. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical data of patients treated with sofosbuvir plus ribavirin for chronic HCV genotype 2 from May 2016 to December 2017 at eight hospitals located in the Daejeon-Chungcheong area. Results: A total of 172 patients were treated with sofosbuvir plus ribavirin. Of them, 163 patients completed the treatment, and 162 patients were tested for sustained virologic response 12 weeks after treatment discontinuation (SVR12). Mean age was 59.6±12.3 years (27-96), and 105 (64.4%) patients were female. Of the total patients, 49 (30.1%) were diagnosed with cirrhosis, and 31 of them were treated for 16 weeks. Sofosbuvir plus ribavirin was the first-line treatment for 144 (88.3%) patients. Eleven (6.7%) patients were intolerant to previous interferon-based treatment. Eight (5.0%) patients relapsed after interferon-based treatment. HCV RNA non-detection rate at 4, 8, and 12 weeks was 97.5%, 99.1%, and 99.3%, respectively, and SVR12 was 98.8% (161/163). During treatment, 18 (11.0%) patients had to reduce their administrated dose of ribavirin because of anemia. One patient stopped the treatment because of severe anemia. Other adverse events, including dizziness, indigestion, and headache, were found in 26 (16.0%) patients. Conclusions: A 12-16 week treatment with sofosbuvir plus ribavirin is remarkably effective and well tolerated in Korean patients with chronic HCV genotype 2 infection. Background This study aims to assess the efficacy and safety of geonchildan, a Korean traditional herbal medicine, for patients with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and evaluate the feasibility of a large-scale confirmatory clinical trial. Methods/design This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel two-arm pilot trial in Seoul, Korea. Altogether, 30 patients diagnosed with RA for at least 3 months and with a Disease Activity Score for 28 joints (DAS28) ≥ 3.2 will be enrolled. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups, the experimental group or the placebo group, in a 1:1 ratio and will make four scheduled visits. The participants will be administered geonchildan or a placebo three times per day for 12 weeks. The change in DAS28 will be examined as the primary efficacy outcome. The secondary efficacy outcomes include the proportion of patients achieving ACR20, ACR50, ACR70, and EULAR responses; the DAS28 sub-items; the consumption of medication; Korean Health Assessment Questionnaire scores; inflammatory parameters; and the Korean medical diagnostic pattern indicator. Adverse events and laboratory test results will be recorded to evaluate safety. The process, resources used, and management of the study will also be assessed to determine the feasibility of a large-scale trial. Discussion This is the first clinical trial to explore the efficacy and safety of geonchildan in patients with active RA. If the superiority of geonchildan versus the placebo is demonstrated and the study design is feasible, this study could form the foundation for a large-scale clinical trial. To develop a high pressure main drive hydraulic cylinder for concrete pumping car, it is essential to accurately predict the internal flow structure of the hydraulic cylinder and ensure structural stability. Therefore, in this study structural and buckling analysis were essentially used for safe design. From analysis results, the maximum equivalent stress occurred when the cylinder thickness was 15 mm and the hydraulic cylinder was deemed to be structurally safe. The buckling analysis of the hydraulic cylinder assembly showed that the critical load factor was from 1.3732 to 12.021 and the critical force factor in the entire area was not observed because the critical load factor was greater than 1. The average flow rate of cylinder was uniformly distributed and the flow rate error for the inlet and outlet port could be found to be approximately identical to that of 2 %.

Context: Ampelopsis brevipedunculata Maxim (Vitaceae) is a traditional medicinal herb used for treating liver disorders. Objective: The hepatoprotective effects of A. brevipedunculata ethanol extract (ABE) was investigated in experimental models of fibrosis. Materials and methods: Hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) system in vitro and thioacetamide (TAA)-induced liver fibrosis rat model in vivo were used. Sprague–Dawley rats were divided into five groups of eight each (control, TAA, TAA with ABE 10 mg/kg, ABE 100 mg/kg and silymarin 50 mg/kg groups, respectively). The main focus of the paper is to propose a smart recommender system based on the methods of hybrid learning for personal well-being services, called a smart recommender system of hybrid learning (SRHL). The essential health factor is considered to be personal lifestyle, with the help of a critical examination of various disciplines. Integrating the recommender system effectively contributes to the prevention of disease, and it also leads to a reduction in treatment cost, which contributes to an improvement in the quality of life. At the same time, there exist various challenges within the recommender system, mainly cold start and scalability. To effectively address the inefficiencies, we propose combined hybrid methods in regard to machine learning. The primary aim of this learning method is to integrate the most effective and efficient learning algorithms to examine how combined hybrid filtering can help to improve the cold star problem efficiently in the provision of personalized well-being in regard to health food service. These methods include: (1) switching among content-based and collaborative filtering, (2) identifying the user context with the integration of dynamic filtering, and (3) learning the profiles with the help of processing and screening of reflecting feedback loops. The experimental results were evaluated by using three absolute error measures, providing comparable results with other studies relative to machine learning domains. The effects of using the hybrid learning method are gathered with the help of the experimental results. Our experiments also show that the hybrid method improves accuracy by 14.61% of the average error predicted in the recommender systems in comparison to the collaborative methods, which mainly focus on the computation of similar entities.

Here, we investigate the ultrafast carrier dynamics and electronic states of exfoliated ReS2 films using time-resolved second harmonic generation (TSHG) microscopy and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The second harmonic generation (SHG) of layers with various thicknesses is probed using a 1.19-eV beam. Up to ~13 nm, a gradual increment is observed, followed by a decrease caused by bulk interferometric light absorption. The addition of a pump pulse tuned to the exciton band gap (1.57 eV) creates a decay-to-rise TSHG profile as a function of the probe delay. The power and thickness dependencies indicate that the electron–hole recombination is mediated by defects and surfaces. The two photon absorptions of 2.38 eV in the excited state that are induced by pumping from 1.57 to 1.72 eV are restricted because these transitions highly correlate with the forbidden d–d intrasubshell orbital transitions. However, the combined usage of a frequency-doubled pump (2.38 eV) with wavelength-variant SHG probes (2.60–2.82 eV) allows us to vividly monitor the variations in TSHG profiles from decay-to-rise to rise-to-decay, which imply the existence of an additional electron absorption state (s-orbital) at an approximate distance of 5.05 eV from the highest occupied molecular orbital states. This observation was critically examined by considering the allowance of each electronic transition and a small upper band gap (~0.5 eV) using modified DFT calculations., Materials: The 3D material that behaves like a 2D material Scientists have investigated the electronic and optical properties of ultrathin films of rhenium disulfide (ReS2) and could lead to new devices for use in optoelectronic applications. Unlike other transition metal dichalcogenides like MoS2, ReS2 maintains its direct band gap even its bulk form allowing it to emit and absorb light easily and making it attractive for use in photovoltaic devices. This led Jong-Hyun Ahn from Yonsei University and the collaborators in DGIST (Hyunmin Kim and Jaedong Lee) in South Korea to explore the properties of ReS2 crystals using pump-probe time-resolved second harmonic generation microscopy. Observing the ultrafast intra-conduction band transitions, the researchers confirmed the existence of the high-energy band gap in bilayers of ReS2, leading to their potential for use in a range of optoelectronic applications, including solar cells and light emitting diodes.

We demonstrated the apoptotic effect of bee venom (BV) on human MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells using Raman spectroscopy and principal component analysis (PCA). Biochemical changes in cancer cells were monitored following BV treatment; the results for different concentrations and treatment durations differed markedly. Significantly decreased Raman vibrations for DNA and proteins were observed for cells treated with 3.0 µg/mL BV for 48 h compared with those of control cells. These results suggest denaturation and degradation of proteins and DNA fragmentation (all cell death-related processes). The Raman spectroscopy results agreed with those of atomic force microscopy and conventional biological tests such as viability, TUNEL, and western blot assays. Therefore, Raman spectroscopy, with PCA, provides a noninvasive, label-free tool for assessment of cellular changes on the anti-cancer effect of BV.

In the present study, we investigated the quality, sensory characteristics and commercialization potential of a rice collet snack made with the addition of dried shrimp. “Mild” and “spicy” snack products were produced with an edible oil coating and mixed seasoning powder coating, respectively. The approximate composition of the mild and spicy snacks, respectively, were 2.44% and 2.24% for moisture, 8.52% and 8.64% for crude protein, 18.36% and 26.54% for crude lipids, 1.28% and 1.38% for ash, 1.1% and 1.2% for salt, and 0.61 and 0.62 for pH. The L (lightness), a (redness), b (yellowness), and ⊿E (color difference) values were higher for the mild snack than the spicy snack. The mild and spicy snack had values of 7,776.4 and 7,655.8 mg/100 g for total amino acids, and 221.6 and 253.5 mg/100 g for total free amino acids, respectively. The TBA (thiobarbituric acid) value did not differ significantly between the two types of snack. The hardness value of the spicy snack was higher than that of the mild snack, but there were no significant differences in flavor between the two products. The sensory evaluation score of the spicy snack was slightly higher than that of the mild snack. Organoleptic inspection indicated that both snacks had a favorable, unique taste.

This study was performed to obtain basic data regarding the development of fish steak products using olive flounder and pork leg. Olive flounder and pork leg were ground separately in a chopper. The methods used for processing were as follows. Chopped olive flounder (100 g) and other ingredients (bread crumbs, 13 g; onion, 12 g; garlic, 4 g; egg wash, 18 g; salt, 0.05 g; pepper, 0.05 g) were mixed in a chopper. The mixture was molded into a steak shape () and roasted in an oven at for 12 min (OF). FP consisting of a mixture of olive flounder (70 g) and pork leg meat (30 g) and OP consisting of pork leg meat alone (100 g) were processed according to the same procedure as described for OF. Various factors (viable bacterial count, chemical composition, pH, salinity, hardness value, color value, total amino acid content, free amino acid content, fatty acid composition, mineral content) were measured, and sensory evaluation was conducted. Based on the results of the sensory evaluation and hardness value, OP was deemed to be the most desirable, followed in order by FP and OF. There was a slight but significant difference between OP and FP.

This study was carried out to optimize coating process of the rice snack added with dried shrimp powder by using single extruder. A total of 8 independent variables were used for 4 independent variables of edible oil coating and 4 independent variables of seasoning coating. 4 independent variables for edible oil coating were set up as 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30% for the content of edible oil; 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80℃ for the tumbler temperature; 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 rpm for the tumbler speed; 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 min for the coating time. 4 independent variables for seasoning coating were set up as 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6% for the content of seasoning; 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80℃ for the tumbler temperature; 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 rpm for the tumbler speed; 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 min for the coating time. The characteristics of the dependent variables as coating yield and Breaking ratio of collet due to the condition changes of the independent variable was studied during process of edible oil coating and seasoning coating, respectively. As a results of this study, 20% of edible oil content, 70℃ of tumbler temperature, 80 rpm of tumbler speed, 4 min of coating time for process of edible oil coating, 3% of seasoning content, 60℃ of tumbler temperature, 70 rpm of tumbler speed, 3 min of coating time for process of seasoning coating were found to be the most preferable over other independent variables for the production of snack. Rhus javanica Linn, a traditional medicinal herb from the family Anacardiaceae, has been used in the treatment of liver diseases, cancer, parasitic infections, malaria and respiratory diseases in China, Korea and other Asian countries for centuries. In the present study, the protective effects of R. javanica ethanolic extract (RJE) on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced oxidative stress in human Chang liver cells was investigated. The cell cytotoxicity and viability were assessed using a 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) were measured using respective enzymatic kits. Cell cycle analysis was performed using flow cytometric analysis. The protein expression levels of p53, B-cell lymphoma (Bcl)-2, Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax) and caspase-3 were assessed by western blotting. This study was undertaken to investigate the quality changes of salted-fermented anchovy meat made by varying the amount of salt during fermentation at 15℃. Anchovy (11.0-14.0 cm of length, 10.7-17.5 g of weight) added with 15-25% of salt was filled in a round form plastic container (i.d. 10.5x11 cm), and then fermented at 15℃ for 110 days. The factors such as proximate composition, pH, color value (L, a, b), TBA value, amino-N content, salinity, hardness value, free amino acid content and sensory evaluation of salted-fermented anchovy meat were measured. Ash content, color value (redness), TBA value, amino-N content. salinity and hardness value of salted-fermented anchovy meat were increased, but color value (lightness), and moisture content were decreased during fermentation at 15℃. A salted-fermented anchovy meat added with 15% of salt was shown higher content of moisture, amino-N content and free amino acid, TBA value than those of 20 or 25% of salt. Ash content, salinity and hardness value were highest in a product added with 25% of salt. From the result of sensory evaluation, Addition amount of 15% salt and fermentation periods of 110 days were determined to be the most desirable palatability of salted-fermented anchovy meat. Objectives Remote medical services have been expanding globally, and this is expansion is steadily increasing. It has had many positive effects, including medical access convenience, timeliness of service, and cost reduction. The speed of research and development in remote medical technology has been gradually accelerating. Therefore, it is expected to expand to enable various high-tech information and communications technology (ICT)-based remote medical services. However, the current state lacks an appropriate security framework that can resolve security issues centered on the Internet of things (IoT) environment that will be utilized significantly in telemedicine. Methods This study developed a medical service-oriented frame work for secure remote medical services, possessing flexibility regarding new service and security elements through its service-oriented structure. First, the common architecture of remote medical services is defined. Next medical-oriented secu rity threats and requirements within the IoT environment are identified. Finally, we propose a "service-oriented security frame work for remote medical services" based on previous work and requirements for secure remote medical services in the IoT. Results The proposed framework is a secure framework based on service-oriented cases in the medical environment. A com parative analysis focusing on the security elements (confidentiality, integrity, availability, privacy) was conducted, and the analysis results demonstrate the security of the proposed framework for remote medical services with IoT. Conclusions The proposed framework is service-oriented structure. It can support dynamic security elements in accordance with demands related to new remote medical services which will be diversely generated in the IoT environment. We anticipate that it will enable secure services to be provided that can guarantee confidentiality, integrity, and availability for all, including patients, non-patients, and medical staff.
