Abstract This article describes a quantitative assessment method proposed to quickly identify the degree of deterioration of hardened leather artefacts. We used three techniques to artificially age samples, namely, dry-heat ageing (DH), UV-ageing (UV), and alkali-thermal ageing (AT). The deterioration mechanisms were studied via thermogravimetry/derivative thermogravimetry (TG/DTG) and attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR). Combined with amide III band deconvolution and second derivative fitting, we constructed a method for assessing the degree of deterioration by the relative content of random coils (referred to as R) in the secondary structure of the protein. The results show that with increasing ageing time, the macrostructures and microstructures of the leather changed to varying degrees. This study elucidates the differential behaviour of vegetable-tanned leather collagen under oxidative and hydrolytic mechanisms. Based on the deterioration characteristics and fitting results, we divided the hardened leather into the following three levels. Mild deterioration: 0 ≤ R ≤ 5%; leather with reduced pores and slight dryness and hardness but with a stable collagen structure; if the β-sheet content is ≥ 68% at this point, the leather may be recrosslinked by ultraviolet irradiation. Moderate deterioration: 6 ≤ R ≤ 25%; partial hydrogen bond breaking in leather, loosening of the collagen–tan matrix, dry and hard curling of the leather surface, and fibre cementation. Severe deterioration: R ≥ 40%, β-sheet ≤ 24%, and the α-helix is higher; surface reflection, severe macroscopic deformation and embrittlement, and the breakdown and gelatinization of the three-stranded helical structure of leather proteins. The quantitative analysis method was suitable for studying the deterioration mechanisms and assessing the degree of deterioration in Heishanling leather artefacts, which also provides a new practical scheme for assessing the degree of hardened leather. Abstract Objective This study aimed to investigate the associations between physical activity (PA) intensity, occupational PA engagement, and sarcopenia in younger adults. Methods Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) (from 2011 to 2018) were used for the study. PA data were extracted for the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire, and the ratio of limb muscle mass (ALM) to body mass index (BMI) was used to determine sarcopenia. Multiple logistic regression was performed, and dose-response curves were drawn to evaluate the associations. Results Of the 8802 adults aged 20 to 59 years, 770 (8.7%) were identified as having sarcopenia. Compared to those in the reference group, the participants in the “low”, “moderate”, and “high” total METs groups had lower risks of sarcopenia (low: OR = 0.730, 95% CI = 0.583; 0.915; moderate: OR = 0.643, 95% CI = 0.485; 0.853; high: OR = 0.560, 95% CI = 0.457; 0.687). The risk of sarcopenia decreased in the high-intensity recreational PA group; however, such a significant association was observed only in the high-intensity occupational PA group. The relationship between total METs and sarcopenia showed a nonlinear U-shaped trend. Conclusions A greater intensity of PA is associated with a lower risk of sarcopenia among younger adults, regardless of whether moderate or vigorous PA is performed. Moreover, recreational PA may particularly advantageously contrast with occupational PA in lowering the risk of sarcopenia.

Abstract With the progress of micro electromechanical system (MEMS) technology, the performance of MEMS inertial measurement unit (IMU) composed of gyroscopes and accelerometers has been improved. Among the inertial sensors, MEMS triaxial gyroscope plays an important role in attitude estimation, navigation and positioning of intelligent mobile terminals such as unmanned aerial vehicles and unmanned vehicles. However, the measured values of low and medium cost MEMS triaxial gyroscopes are mainly affected by temperature (or thermal effect) and random errors. As results, the drift errors correlated with temperature will reduce application accuracy of MEMS triaxial gyroscope. The traditional calibration method for thermal drift errors relies on the expensive equipment, such as turntable and the temperature control system, which increases the cost of calibration. Therefore, an effective thermal calibration method that is available when using low- or high-cost tools for MEMS triaxial gyroscope will be meaningful for majority users. Hence, this paper analyzed and established the thermal drift model of MEMS triaxial gyroscope, and proposed a segmented systematic calibration method based on 24 states according to this model. Simulation shows that the proposed method can obtain the results approaching the real parameter thermal drift curves. Calibration experiments and parameters test show that the max errors of attitude calculation are reduced to 10% of the results using the original parameters, which indicates that the effectiveness of the proposed method.

【Objective】The use of artificial inoculation to ferment cigar tobacco leaves is an inevitable trend in the industrial production of cigar tobacco leaves, and the neutral aroma components are the important quality components of cigar tobacco leaves. The study aims to investigate the effect of Bacillus safensis GL2 on the neutral aroma components of cigar tobacco leaves.【Method】GL2 was screened from Cuban cigar Cohiba Robert and used to ferment cigar leaves. The neutral aroma components in tobacco leaves were determined by distillation extraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and multivariate statistical methods were used for analysis and statistics.【Result】The total aroma and the contents of most neutral aroma components in cigar tobacco leaves were significantly increased after GL2 fermentation (P < 0.05), and the increased aroma substances mainly included olefins, ketones and alcohols. A total of 13 differentially neutral aroma components were selected by VIP > 1 and P < 0.05, and 9 of them were significantly up-regulated and positively correlated with tobacco leaf aroma. There were 7 species with significant positive correlation (P < 0.05), which were the key differential aroma components of 2, 6, 6-trimethyl-2-cyclohexene-1, 4-dione, 2, 6, 6-trimethyl-1, 4-cyclohexanedione, geraniyl acetone, acanthyl acetone, neophydiene, solanone and phytoalcohol. In addition, 4 different aroma components were significantly decreased and negatively correlated with tobacco leaf aroma, among which 2, 4-di-tert-butyl-6-nitrophenol was significantly negatively correlated with cigar tobacco aroma (P < 0.05). 2, 6, 6-trimethyl-2-cyclohexene-1, 4-dione, geranyl acetone, solanone and phytol contributed significantly to the aroma of fermented cigar tobacco leaves, resulting in a stronger overall dry and floral fragrances. As a result, they enriched the aroma and improved the sensory quality of cigar tobacco leaves.【Conclusion】Inoculation of B. safensis during cigar tobacco fermentation is beneficial for improving the quality of cigar tobacco leaves, which provide theoretical support for improving the fermentation quality of cigar tobacco leaves with biotechnology.

This study aimed to develop and validate a prediction model of cesarean following induction of labor (IOL). A nomogram for the prediction of cesarean following IOL for singleton, cephalic term deliveries was created by comparing combinations of ultrasonographic and nonultrasonographic factors in a retrospective manner using patient data collected from a Chinese hospital between July, 2017 and December, 2023. Model discrimination and calibration were evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) and a calibration curve. Subsequently, decision curve analysis (DCA) was conducted to pinpoint the optimal probability threshold for the predictive model to exhibit practical significance for clinical decision-making. A total of 738 women were included. The inclusion of ultrasound factors yielded a higher AUC when combined with nonultrasonographic factors. Of the three ultrasonographic factors analyzed, the most predictive factor for cesarean following IOL was fetal head circumference. After generating a nomogram with eight validated factors, including maternal age, gestational age, height, prior caesarean delivery, previous vaginal delivery, modified Bishop score, body mass index at delivery, and fetal head circumference by ultrasound, the trained and validated AUC values were 0.826 (95% confidence interval 0.786–0.867) and 0.883 (95% confidence interval 0.839–0.926), respectively. Decision curve analysis indicated that the model provided net benefits of between 0% and 80% of the probability threshold, indicating the benefits of using the model to make decisions concerning patients who fall within the identified range of the probability threshold. Our nomogram based on obstetric factors and fetal head circumference as obtained by ultrasound could be used to help counsel women who are considering IOL. The model demonstrates favorable net benefits within a probability threshold range of 0 to 80%.

Clay minerals are widely distributed and are important components in sedimentary rocks. The identification and quantification of detrital and authigenic clay minerals have been hot topics recently due to the needs of petroleum geology, paleoclimate, and sedimentary history research. Detrital clay minerals exhibit the phenomenon of discrete grain boundaries, while authigenic clay minerals have various specific particle shapes. The differences in crystal structure of different clay mineral origins are reflected in the polytype character of clay minerals, especially for illite and chlorite. Different origins of clay minerals inherently have different chemical characteristics. Instead of focusing only on conventional techniques (scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and geochemical analysis), here we review established approaches and introduce emerging analytical techniques (automated mineralogy techniques and artificial intelligence techniques) that can complement current methods. In addition, the applications of these techniques in illite age analysis, paleoclimate reconstruction, and reservoir properties are discussed. Further, different state-of-the-art techniques for clay mineral identification and quantification (e.g., scanning electron microscopy for specific petrographic characterization, X-ray diffraction for bulk crystal structure identification, etc.) are discussed. We propose that combining individual and bulk techniques obtained at multiple scales can provide novel insights for deciphering various clay mineral origins. Understanding the characteristics of clay minerals from different origins is of great importance to scientific issues such as shale oil and gas exploration.

Many different factors, such as species traits, socio-economic factors, geographical and environmental factors, can lead to specimen collection preference. This study aims to determine whether grassland specimen collection in China is preferred by species traits (i.e., plant height, flowering and fruiting period), environmental range (i.e., the temperature and precipitation range) and geographical range (i.e., distribution range and altitudinal range). Ordinary least squares models and phylogenetic generalized linear mixed models were used to analyze the relationships between specimen number and the explanatory variables. Random Forest models were then used to find the most parsimonious multivariate model. The results showed that interannual variation in specimen number between 1900 and 2020 was considerable. Specimen number of these species in southeast China was notably lower than that in northwest China. Environmental range and geographical range of species had significant positive correlations with specimen number. In addition, there were relatively weak but significant associations between specimen number and species trait (i.e., plant height and flowering and fruiting period). Random Forest models indicated that distribution range was the most important variable, followed by flowering and fruiting period, and altitudinal range. These findings suggest that future floristic surveys should pay more attention to species with small geographical range, narrow environmental range, short plant height, and short flowering and fruiting period. The correction of specimen collection preference will also make the results of species distribution model, species evolution and other works based on specimen data more accurate.

Abstract Background The United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal − 3.2 aims to eliminate all preventable under-five mortality rate (U5MR). In China, government have made efforts to provide maternal health services and reduce U5MR. Hence, we aimed to explore maternal health service utilization in relation to U5MR in China and its provinces in 1990–2017. Methods We obtained data from Global Burden of Disease 2017, China Health Statistics Yearbook, China Statistical Yearbook, and Human Development Report China Special Edition. The trend of U5MR in each province of China from 1990 to 2017 was analyzed using Joinpoint Regression model. We measured the inequities in maternal health services using HEAT Plus, a health inequity measurement tool developed by the UN. The generalized estimating equation model was used to explore the association between maternal health service utilization (including prenatal screening, hospital delivery and postpartum visits) and U5MR. Background Despite recognition in the West that military veterans experience more mental health issues than the general population, little research has focused on this subject in China. This study examined the associations between male veterans’ military experience and depression in China. Methods A sample of 12,914 men including 669 veterans was included in the final analysis and propensity score matching, multivariable regressions and fixed effect model were used. Results The military experience was associated with a lower likelihood of depression in male veterans. In the subgroup analysis, military experience was associated with a lower likelihood of depression among married and urban male veterans. Military experience was also associated with a lower likelihood of depression in both “junior college and above” and “below junior college” groups. In contrast, evidence was lacking regarding the associations between military experience and depression for unmarried and rural veterans. Conclusions Individual characteristics could influence the relationship between military experience and depression in male veterans, and the mental health of veterans should be paid more attention and guaranteed.

Abstract As a concentrated energy source with high added value, hydrogen has great development prospects, with special emphasis on sustainable microbial production as a replacement for traditional fossil fuels. In this study, λ-Red recombination was used to alter the activity of Complex I by single and combined knockout of nuoE, nuoF and nuoG. In addition, the conversion of malic to pyruvic acid was promoted by overexpressing the maeA gene, which could increase the content of NADH and formic acid in the bacterial cells. Compared to the original strain, hydrogen production was 65% higher in the optimized strain IAM1183-EFG/M, in which the flux of the formic acid pathway was increased by 257%, the flux of the NADH pathway was increased by 13%, and the content of metabolites also changed significantly. In further bioreactor, the total hydrogen production of the scale-up IAM1183-EFG/M after 44 h of fermentation was 4.76 L, which increased by 18% compared with the starting strain. This study provides a new direction for future exploration of microbial hydrogen production by combinatorial modification of multiple genes. Graphical Abstract

The increased rate of antibiotic resistance strongly limits the resolution of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium) infection. Therefore, new strategies to control bacterial infections are urgently needed. Bacillus subtilis (B. subtilis) and its metabolites are desirable antibacterial agents. Here, we aimed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of the novel B. subtilis strain GXYX (No: PRJNA940956) crude lipopeptide against S. Typhimurium. In vitro, GXYX crude lipopeptides affected S. Typhimurium biofilm formation and swimming and attenuated the adhesion and invasion abilities of S. Typhimurium toward BHK-21 cells; in addition, it inhibited the mRNA expression of the filA, filC, csgA, and csgB genes, which are related to the adhesion and invasion ability of S. Typhimurium. In vivo, pretreatment with GXYX crude lipopeptide via intragastric administration improved the survival rate by 30%, which was related to reductions in organ bacterial loads and clinical signs in mice. Intragastric administration of GXYX crude lipopeptide significantly downregulated the mRNA levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-12 and IL-6 in response to S. Typhimurium-induced inflammation compared with intraperitoneal injection. Moreover, it significantly improved the intestinal barrier-related gene (ZO-1, claudin-1, occludin-1) mRNA levels in intestinal tissue damaged by S. Typhimurium infection. In conclusion, GXYX crude lipopeptides were effective at reducing S. Typhimurium colonization, laying a foundation for the further development of novel antibacterial agents.

Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus (SEZ) is an opportunistic pathogen of both humans and animals. Quorum sensing (QS) plays an important role in the regulation of bacterial group behaviors. The aim of this study was to characterize the LuxS in SEZ and evaluate its impact on biofilm formation, pathogenesis and gene expression. The wild-type SEZ and its LuxS mutant (ΔluxS) were examined for growth, biofilm formation, virulence factors, and transcriptomic profiles. Our results showed that LuxS deficiency did not affect SEZ hemolytic activity, adhesion or capsule production. For biofilm assay demonstrated that mutation in the luxS gene significantly enhances biofilm formation, produced a denser biofilm and attached to a glass surface. RAW264.7 cell infection indicated that ΔluxS promoted macrophage apoptosis and pro-inflammatory responses. In mice infection, there was no significant difference in mortality between SEZ and ΔluxS. However, the bacterial load in the spleen of mice infected with ΔluxS was significantly higher than in those infected with SEZ. And the pathological analysis further indicated that spleen damage was more severe in the ΔluxS group. Moreover, transcriptomics analysis revealed significant alterations in carbon metabolism, RNA binding and stress response genes in ΔluxS. In summary, this study provides the first evidence of AI-2/LuxS QS system in SEZ and reveals its regulatory effects on biofilm formation, pathogenicity and gene expression.

Balancing ecological environment protection (EEP) and economic development (ED) (balance for short) is a difficult problem that must be solved in the development of modern society, particularly important for realizing UN Sustainable Development Goals. How to assess the regional balance situation and reveal the spatial and temporal heterogeneous characteristics of the balance (especially for the vast China) and its influencing factors are the primary scientific problems and realistic needs. Taking Zhejiang, Hunan and Gansu Provinces in the eastern, central and western region of China as a regional representative, an index system characterizing EEP and ED were established, which were processed by extreme difference method and entropy weight method. The coupling characteristics, stress factors and coordination type from 2010 to 2019 in the 3 provinces were assessed and analyzed by means of the coupling coordination model and the grey correlation degree model. Balance is the mission and responsibility of the spatial planning system for spatial planning is of the source, whole-region and comprehensiveness of public strategy, therefore, the balance strategies and its integration approaches are constructed in the 3 provincial spatial planning based on the assessment and analysis of balance characteristics. Research results show that: (1) the 3 provinces' coupling coordination degree is rising year by year, coordination type is more and more better indicating that the balance of EEP and ED is getting better and better, but coordination type differentiates at one level between 3 provinces at the east, central, western region of China, Zhejiang province is from nearby imbalance to primary coordination, Hunan Province is from nearby imbalance to narrow coordination, and Gansu Province is from medium imbalance to nearby imbalance. (2) The ED have same strong stress on EEP in the 3 provinces, and the constraints of EEP on ED are different, the current balance characteristics of Zhejiang, Hunan and Gansu province are the types of ecological environment pressure constraints primary coordination, ecological environment pressure constraints narrow coordination, and ecological environment condition constraints nearby imbalance. (3) The coordination types are the co-environmental pressure constraints primary coordination (Zhejiang Province), eco-environmental pressure constraints narrow coordination (Hunan Province) and eco-environmental condition constraints nearby imbalance (Gansu Province), and corresponding balanced planning strategy system are to promote ecological modernization, implement ecological industrialization and adhere to the ecological fundamentalization.

Biological specimens are fundamental for taxonomy and flora/fauna research. More importantly, they also play crucial roles in recording environmental impacts on morphology and behavior, which is vital for biodiversity research and conservation. However, there are few systematic studies on the patterns and drivers of bird specimen number at regional scales. This study is the first attempt to examine the relationships between bird specimen number and species traits as well as climate niche breadth in China, aiming to answer two questions: 1) how do species’ temperature niche breadth and precipitation niche breadth influence specimen number? 2) which trait is most associated with bird specimen number? The associations between bird specimen number and explanatory variables were examined using ordinary least squares, generalized linear models, phylogenetic generalized linear mixed models, and multiple comparisons. The results showed that Muscicapidae was the family with the highest specimen number, and Passeriformes was the order with the highest specimen number. Bird specimen number significantly increased with larger temperature niche breadth and precipitation niche breadth. Specimen number was also positively associated with geographic range size, habitat specificity, hunting vulnerability and clutch size, but negatively associated with body size. These findings suggest that future bird specimen collection should pay more attention to birds with limited ecological niches, large body sizes, and small clutch sizes. This research enhances the use of bird specimen data to study and preserve biodiversity.

Prioritization analysis with climate dynamics has become a critical, complex, and popular topic for conservation planning, providing opportunities for achieving co-benefits of climate stabilization, biodiversity conservation, and other goals. Here, we constructed a prioritization framework to inform the development of conservation policies or actions, further including the spatial heterogeneity and temporal stability characteristics of climate refugia. We then used China as a study area to identify priorities and assess the effectiveness of existing protected areas. Compared with the classical spatial prioritization approach, the priorities incorporating climatic characteristics cover, on average, 0.88 and 2.79 times more areas with low climatic velocities and high heterogeneity, respectively. By analyzing the proportion of various types of land use in the priorities, we found that grasslands play an essential role in species protection and climate regulation. Specifically, the percentage of grasslands in the priorities is about 30 %, ranking second to forests. Similarly, we identified prominent conservation gaps in China's protected area network, as evidenced by the insufficient emphasis on grassland and inadequate coverage of climate refugia. Our approach emphasizes the importance of integrating climate planning into conservation priorities and guiding conservation management and policy to achieve conservation goals in a climate-smart way.

Based on the results of drilling, tests and simulation experiments, the shales of the Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation in the Gulong Sag of the Songliao Basin are discussed with respect to hydrocarbon generation evolution, shale oil occurrence, and pore/fracture evolution mechanism. In conjunction with a substantial amount of oil testing and production data, the Gulong shale oil enrichment layers are evaluated and the production behaviors and decline law are analyzed. The results are drawn in four aspects. First, the Gulong shales are in the stage of extensive hydrocarbon expulsion when Ro is 1.0%–1.2%, with the peak hydrocarbon expulsion efficiency of 49.5% approximately. In the low–medium maturity stage, shale oil migrates from kerogen to rocks and organic pores/fractures. In the medium–high maturity stage, shale oil transforms from adsorbed state to free state. Second, the clay mineral intergranular pores/fractures, dissolution pores, and organic pores make up the majority of the pore structure. During the transformation, clay minerals undergo significant intergranular pore/fracture development between the minerals such as illite and illite/smectite mixed layer. A network of pores/fractures is formed by organic matter cracking. Third, free hydrocarbon content, effective porosity, total porosity, and brittle mineral content are the core indicators for the evaluation of shale oil enrichment layers. Class-I layers are defined as free hydrocarbon content equal or greater than 6.0 mg/g, effective porosity equal or greater than 3.5%, total porosity equal or greater than 8.0%, and brittle mineral content equal or greater than 50%. It is believed that the favourable oil layers are Q2–Q3 and Q8–Q9. Fourth, the horizontal wells in the core area of the light oil zone exhibit a high cumulative production in the first year, and present a hyperbolic production decline pattern, with the decline index of 0.85–0.95, the first-year decline rate of 14.5%–26.5%, and the single-well estimated ultimate recovery (EUR) greater than 2.0×104 t. In practical exploration and production, more efforts will be devoted to the clarification of hydrocarbon generation and expulsion mechanisms, accurate testing of porosity and hydrocarbon content/phase of shale under formation conditions, precise delineation of the boundary of enrichment area, relationship between mechanical properties and stimulated reservoir volume, and enhanced oil recovery, in order to improve the EUR and achieve a large-scale, efficient development of shale oil.

The geological characteristics and production practices of the major middle- and high-maturity shale oil exploration areas in China are analyzed. Combined with laboratory results, it is clear that three essential conditions, i.e. economic initial production, commercial cumulative oil production of single well, and large-scale recoverable reserves confirmed by the testing production, determine whether the continental shale oil can be put into large-scale commercial development. The quantity and quality of movable hydrocarbons are confirmed to be crucial to economic development of shale oil, and focuses in evaluation of shale oil enrichment area/interval. The evaluation indexes of movable hydrocarbon enrichment include: (1) the material basis for forming retained hydrocarbon, including TOC>2% (preferentially 3%–4%), and type I–II1 kerogens; (2) the mobility of retained hydrocarbon, which is closely related to the hydrocarbon composition and flow behaviors of light/heavy components, and can be evaluated from the perspectives of thermal maturity (Ro), gas-oil ratio (GOR), crude oil density, quality of hydrocarbon components, preservation conditions; and (3) the reservoir characteristics associated with the engineering reconstruction, including the main pore throat distribution zone, reservoir physical properties (including fractures), lamellation feature and diagenetic stage, etc. Accordingly, 13 evaluation indexes in three categories and their reference values are established. The evaluation indicates that the light shale oil zones in the Gulong Sag of Songliao Basin have the most favorable enrichment conditions of movable hydrocarbons, followed by light oil and black oil zones, containing 20.8×108 t light oil resources in reservoirs with Ro>1.2%, pressure coefficient greater than 1.4, effective porosity greater than 6%, crude oil density less than 0.82 g/cm3, and GOR>100 m3/m3. The shale oil in the Gulong Sag can be explored and developed separately by the categories (resource sweet spot, engineering sweet spot, and tight oil sweet spot) depending on shale oil flowability. The Gulong Sag is the most promising area to achieve large-scale breakthrough and production of continental shale oil in China.

Abstract Background Cervical squamous cell carcinoma (CESC) is the most common histological type of cervical cancer which is the major cause of death in women worldwide. Although squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-Ag) is widely used to detect CESC, it is not sensitive and specific enough to predict the disease. Methods We investigated serum CXC motif chemokine 10 (CXCL10) as potential diagnostic biomarker in detecting CESC in this study. Serum levels of CXCL10 and SCC-Ag were measured by ELISA or automated immunoassay in 345 participants, including 189 patients with different stages of CESC, 75 patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, and 81 healthy individuals. Performances of CXCL10 and SCC-Ag as single biomarkers were analyzed by the ROC curves. The changes of serum levels of CXCL10 and SCC-Ag in 10 longitudinal followed-up CESC patients with partial response (PR) during chemoradiotherapy or chemotherapy were evaluated. Results The two markers showed similar diagnostic capacity in distinguishing both CESC early stage from healthy controls (AUCCXCL10 = 0.740, AUCSCC-Ag = 0.710) and all CESC from healthy controls (AUCCXCL10 = 0.775, AUCSCC-Ag =0.793). Moreover, CXCL10 showed ability in distinguishing cervical intraepithelial neoplasia from healthy control (AUCCXCL10 = 0.727) and cervical cancer SCC-Ag-negative from healthy control. (AUCCXCL10 = 0.739). Abstract Background Breast cancer is a widespread disease in women worldwide. Aim We aimed to explore the global epidemiological trends of female breast cancer (FBC) between 1990 and 2044. Methods and Results Disease burden, population, and socio‐demographic index (SDI) data were obtained from the Global Health Data Exchange (GHDx) database. We analyzed temporal trends, age differences, risk factors, and geographic patterns of FBC disease burden globally and explored the association between age‐standardized incidence rate (ASIR) of FBC and SDI. Bayesian age‐period‐cohort model was also performed to predict the changes in FBC incidence worldwide from 2020 to 2044. First, the global ASIR of FBC increased by 14.31% from 1990 to 2019 (95% Uncertainty Interval 4.75% to 23.98%). The death rate presented a falling trend. Second, alcohol use is the most‐highlighted risk factor for FBC in some high‐income regions such as Europe. A high fasting plasma glucose levels is the most prominent risk factor for FBC in Latin America and Africa. Third, the ASIR of the FBC increases with the SDI. Fourth, the incidence is expected to increase faster among women aged 35–60 years and fastest for those aged 50–54 years from 2020 to 2044. Countries with a high incidence of FBC that is expected to increase significantly include Barbados, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Monaco, Lebanon, Togo, and Uganda. Conclusion The disease burden of FBC varies worldwide; the findings suggest attaching importance to the control of middle and low‐middle SDI regions. Public health as well as cancer prevention experts should pay more attention to regions and populations at an increased risk of developing FBC, focusing on their prevention and rehabilitation while conducting further epidemiological studies to investigate the risk factors of their increase.

This study aimed to assess the effect of excessive gestational weight gain (GWG) before and after 28 weeks on the mode of delivery in women who attempted a trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC), stratified by pre-pregnancy BMI. A retrospective analysis of the outcomes of eligible women who attempted trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC) in a Chinese hospital from January 2016 to October 2022 was performed. GWG before and after 28 weeks was categorized as ‘excessive’ or ‘non-excessive’ based on the guideline of Institute of Medicine (IOM). Multivariable logistic regression analyses were used to estimate the effect of excessive GWG before and after 28 weeks on mode of delivery in women who underwent TOLAC, stratified by pre-pregnancy BMI. Of the 512 women who underwent term trial of labor, 71.1% achieved a vaginal birth. No correlation was found between excessive GWG before 28 weeks and the rate of vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). Among women with or without excessive GWG before 28 weeks, excessive GWG after 28 weeks was significantly associated with a reduced rate of VBAC. When stratified by pre-pregnancy BMI, women who had excessive gestational weight gain after 28 weeks gestation had lower rates of VBAC than those who did not, regardless of being underweight, normal or overweight (aOR 0.23, 95% CI 0.06–0.88; aOR 0.42, 95% CI 0.25, 0.70; and aOR 0.12, 95% CI 0.04–0.36; respectively). Excessive weight gain after 28 weeks of pregnancy was related to decreased rates of VBAC, irrespective of pre-pregnancy weight status and weight gain before 28 weeks.

A systematic study was carried out on 638 wheat and paddy grains (including fresh and stored samples) collected in 2021 from Shanghai, China, to identify the major mycobiota and their toxigenic abilities. A total of 349 fungi, namely, 252 Fusarium, 53 Aspergillus, and 44 Alternaria, were characterized by morphological and molecular identification. Fusarium and Aspergillus were more frequently isolated in paddy with Fusarium sambucinum species complex and Aspergillus section flavi as the predominant species, respectively. The genus Alternaria was the most frequently isolated fungal species in wheat. The toxin-producing potentials of the identified fungi were further evaluated in vitro. Deoxynevalenol (DON) was produced by 34.5% of Fusarium isolates and zearalenone (ZEN) was produced by 47.6% of them, and one isolate also processed the abilities for fumonisin B1 (FB1), B2 (FB2), and B3 (FB3) productions. Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), B2 (AFB2), and G1 (AFG1) were only generated by Aspergillus section flavi, with the production rate of 65.5%, 27.6%, and 13.8%, respectively. Alternariol (AOH) was the most prevalent Alternaria toxin, which could be produced by 95.5% of the isolates, followed by alternariol monomethyl ether (AME) (72.7%), altenuene (ALT) (52.3%), tenuazonic acid (TeA) (45.5%), tentoxin (TEN) (29.5%), and altenusin (ALS) (4.5%). A combinational analysis of mycobiota and toxigenic ability allowed us to provide comprehensive information about the production mechanisms of mycotoxins in wheat and paddy in a specific geographic area, and will be helpful for developing efficient prevention and control programs.

Background Aberrant expression of circular RNAs (circRNAs) contributes to the initiation and progression of pulmonary hypertension (PH). Hypoxia‐inducible factor (HIF) is a well‐known modulator of hypoxia‐induced PH. The role and underlying mechanism of circRNAs in the regulation of HIF expression remains elusive. Methods and Results We profiled pulmonary artery transcriptomes using RNA sequencing and screened circRNAs associated with hypoxia treatment. The expression of a novel circRNA, circ_chr11_67292179–67294612 (circ‐myh8), was increased by hypoxia in a time‐dependent manner. We evaluated the effects of circ‐myh8 overexpression by adeno‐associated virus or inhibition by short hairpin RNA on proliferation and cell cycling in mice and pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells. Overexpression of circ‐myh8 promotes PH under normoxia, and disruption of circ‐myh8 by short hairpin RNA mitigates PH in chronic hypoxic mice. Biologically, circ‐myh8 induces the proliferation and cell‐cycle progression of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells in vivo and in vitro. Mechanistically, RNA pull‐down and RNA immunoprecipitation assays were used to examine the interaction of circRNAs with the binding protein KAT7 (lysine acetyltransferase 7). The acetylation level of lysine 5 of histone H4 in the transcriptional initiation region of HIF1α was determined by chromatin immunoprecipitation assay followed by reverse transcription‐quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Circ‐myh8 acts as a modular scaffold to recruit histone acetyltransferase KAT7 to the promoters of HIF1α, which elicits acetylation of lysine 5 of histone H4 in their promoters. Conclusions Our findings not only reveal the pivotal roles of circ‐myh8 in governing histone modification in anti‐PH treatment but also advocate triggering the circ‐myh8/KAT7/HIF1α pathway to combat PH.

Edge-cloud computing is an efficient approach to address the high latency issue in mobile cloud computing for service provisioning, by placing several computing resources close to end devices. To improve the user satisfaction and the resource efficiency, this paper focuses on the task offloading and service caching problem for providing services by edge-cloud computing. This paper formulates the problem as a constrained discrete optimization problem, and proposes a hybrid heuristic method based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to solve the problem in polynomial time. The proposed method, LMPSO, exploit PSO to solve the service caching problem. To avoid PSO trapping into local optimization, LMPSO adds lévy flight movement for particle updating to improve the diversity of particle. Given the service caching solution, LMPSO uses a heuristic method with three stages for task offloading, where the first stage tries to make full use of cloud resources, the second stage uses edge resources for satisfying requirements of latency-sensitive tasks, and the last stage improves the overall performance of task executions by re-offloaded some tasks from the cloud to edges. Simulated experiment results show that LMPSO has upto 156% better user satisfaction, upto 57.9% higher resource efficiency, and upto 155% greater processing efficiency, in overall, compared with other seven heuristic and meta-heuristic methods.

IntroductionDelayed neurocognitive recovery (DNR) is a common post-surgical complication among the elderly. Cognitive frailty (CF) is also an age-related medical syndrome. However, little is known about the association between CF and DNR. Therefore, this study aimed to study whether CF is associated with DNR in elderly patients undergoing elective noncardiac surgery, as well as to explore the potential risk factors for DNR in frail elderly individuals and construct a prediction model.MethodsThis prospective cohort study administered a battery of cognitive and frailty screening instruments for 146 individuals (≥65 years old) scheduled for elective noncardiac surgery. Screening for CF was performed at least one day before surgery, and tests for the presence of DNR were performed seven days after surgery. The association between CF and DNR was investigated. Moreover, the study subjects were randomly divided into a modeling group (70%) and a validation group (30%). Univariate and multivariate logistic regression was performed to analyze the modeling group data and identify the independent risk factors for DNR. The R software was used to construct DNR's nomogram model, verifying the model.ResultsIn total, 138 individuals were eligible. Thirty-three cases were diagnosed with DNR (23.9%). No significant difference in the number of patients with CF was observed between the DNR and non-DNR groups (P > 0.05). Multivariate analysis after adjusting relevant risk factors showed that only the judgment of line orientation (JLOT) test score significantly affected the incidence of DNR. After internal validation of the constructed DNR prediction model, the area under the curve (AUC) of the forecast probability for the modeling population (n = 97) for DNR was 0.801, and the AUC for the validation set (n = 41) was 0.797. The calibration curves of both the modeling and validation groups indicate that the prediction model has good stability.ConclusionCognitive frailty is not an independent risk factor in predicting DNR after noncardiac surgery in frail elderly individuals. The preoperative JLOT score is an independent risk factor for DNR in frail elderly individuals. The prediction model has a good degree of discrimination and calibration, which means that it can individually predict the risk probability of DNR in frail elderly individuals.

Background and aimsMaternal depression before and after delivery has dramatically increased in China. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the association between antepartum and postpartum depression and neonatal outcomes.DesignA population-based retrospective cohort study.SettingChina.ParticipantsData were obtained from China Family Panel Studies (CFPS). Different mother-child/infant samples were included in this study. Mother in CFPS2012 and CFPS2016 were linked with 1–2-year-old children in CFPS2014 and CFPS2018, respectively. Besides, and mothers in CFPS2012, CFPS2016, and CFPS2018 were linked with 0–1-year-old infants in CFPS2012, CFPS2016, and CFPS2018, respectively.MethodsMaternal depression was measured using the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale. The neonatal outcomes included duration of gestational days, preterm birth, birth weight, birth weight z-score, weight, weight z-score, illness in the past month, and hospitalization in the past year. Propensity score matching was used to balance maternal, family, and infant/child characteristics between the maternal depression and non-maternal depression groups.ResultsMultivariable regression analysis of matched samples estimated that antepartum depression was associated with a shorter duration of gestation by 3.99 days (95% confidence interval [CI] = −7.21, −0.78). The association between antepartum depression and preterm birth, birth weight and birth weight z-score were not statistically significant. Postpartum depression was associated with more episodes of illness in the last month by 0.23 times (95% CI = 0.11, 0.36) and a higher odd of hospitalization in the previous year (OR = 1.59, 95% CI = 1.15, 2.20). The association between postpartum depression and weight or the weight z-score was not significant.ConclusionMaternal depression appears to be associated with worse neonatal outcomes.

BackgroundDepressive symptoms and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) are highly prevalent in rural China. The study aimed to investigate the longitudinal associations between changes in depressive symptoms and cognitive decline and MCI incidence among Chinese rural elderly individuals.MethodsA 2-year follow-up study was conducted among 1,477 participants from the Anhui Healthy Longevity Survey (AHLS). Depressive symptoms were assessed by the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), and cognitive status was evaluated by the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE). Multivariable linear regression and logistic regression were employed.ResultsEvery 1-unit PHQ-9 score increase was significantly associated with more cognitive decline (β = 0.157, 95% CI: 0.092, 0.221, p < 0.001) and a higher risk of MCI incidence (OR = 1.063, 95% CI: 1.025, 1.103, p = 0.001). The participants who experienced worsening of depression symptoms had a larger decline in the 2-year MMSE score (β = 0.650, 95% CI: 0.039, 1.261, p = 0.037) and elevated risks of incident MCI (OR = 1.573, 95% CI: 1.113, 2.223, p = 0.010).LimitationsScreening tools rather than standard diagnostic procedures were used in the study. Moreover, the long-term associations still need further exploration since the follow-up time was short.ConclusionsIncreased depressive symptoms were associated with more cognitive decline and higher risks of incident MCI among Chinese rural residents.

Surface evapotranspiration is an important part of terrestrial hydrological cycle, and the analysis of spatio-temporal variation characteristics of evapotranspiration is the basis of in-depth understanding of hydrological processes in arid areas. Due to the lack of long-term observations of actual regional evapotranspiration in the Yinchuan Plain, it is difficult to obtain the spatio-temporal variation characteristics of long-term series evapotranspiration. Based on the MOD16A3 surface evapotranspiration data and the measured data of meteorological stations in the study area, this paper analyzes the variation characteristics and influencing factors of surface evapotranspiration in the Yinchuan Plain from the perspective of time and space by using the methods of Theil Sen median trend analysis, MK mutation test and CA-Markov model, and predicts the development trend of surface evapotranspiration in the next five years. The results show that from 2004 to 2019, the interannual variation trend of evapotranspiration in the Yinchuan Plain is increasing, and the MK mutation test results show that the year of 2010 is the mutation point of evapotranspiration time series data. There are obvious differences in spatial distribution pattern and change trend between the actual evapotranspiration (ET) and potential evapotranspiration (PET) in the Yinchuan Plain. Actual evapotranspiration shows an increasing trend in recent 16 years, and potential evapotranspiration shows a decreasing trend, which conforms to the theory of complementary evapotranspiration in arid areas. The future development trend of surface evapotranspiration in the Yinchuan Plain in 2024 is predicted with the CA-Markov model. The simulation results show that the evapotranspiration will still increase in the next five years. The spatio-temporal variation of evapotranspiration is affected by climate and human activities. Evapotranspiration is positively correlated with temperature, precipitation and sunshine hours, and is negatively correlated with relative humidity. Land use structure affects annual evapotranspiration. The results also show the rule: Evapotranspiration of paddy field > dry land > woodland > grassland > desert.

Abstract Background To compare the benefits and explore the cause of acquired resistance of epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) and its combination with chemotherapy in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients harboring EGFR mutation in a real-life setting. Methods This retrospective analysis included 117 advanced NSCLC patients with EGFR mutation who underwent next-generation sequencing (NGS) prior to treatment. The combination group included 50 patients who received the regimen of EGFR-TKI combined with chemotherapy, while the EGFR-TKI monotherapy group included 67 patients treated with TKI only. The primary endpoint of this study was progression-free survival (PFS); the secondary endpoints were overall survival (OS), response rate, and toxicity. Abstract Background Childhood overweight and obesity (OWO) has become a major public concern worldwide including in Shanghai, one of the most developed areas of China. Understanding perceptions and challenges of tackling childhood OWO among caregivers of children is critical to provide services in need. Methods A qualitative descriptive study including in-depth interviews with seven parents and six focus group discussions with a total of 32 parents or grandparents of children zero to 6 years of age. Participants lived in three districts of Shanghai and indexed children included both those with OWO or non-OWO children. Data were analyzed using qualitative thematic analysis. Results Caregivers tended to underestimate children’s weight status, and to regard chubby children as a sign of good parental care. Some caregivers even suggested that there were positive effects of childhood overweight. Caregivers identified a number of challenges to prevention of OWO in children, including difficulties in controlling dietary intake or increasing children’s physical activities; discordant views between parents and grandparents, and barriers to accessing professional guidance. Caregivers desired more detailed advice regarding children’s nutrition intake and physical activity, and preferred online approaches. Conclusions Misconceptions regarding childhood overweight were found in caregivers of children in Shanghai. Professional guidance on childhood weight control for caregivers is desired via digital applications such as mobile phone applications and social media.

Burning biomass exacerbates or directly causes severe air pollution. The traditional active fire detection (AFD) methods are limited by the thresholds of the algorithms and the spatial resolution of remote sensing images, which misclassify some small-scale fires. AFD for burning straw is interfered with by highly reflective buildings around urban and rural areas, resulting in high commission error (CE). To solve these problems, we developed a multicriteria threshold AFD for burning straw (SAFD) based on Landsat-8 imagery in the context of croplands. In solving the problem of the high CE of highly reflective buildings around urban and rural areas, the SAFD algorithm, which was based on the LightGBM machine learning method (SAFD-LightGBM), was proposed to differentiate active fires from highly reflective buildings with a sample dataset of buildings and active fires and an optimal feature combining spectral features and texture features using the ReliefF feature selection method. The results revealed that the SAFD-LightGBM method performed better than the traditional threshold method, with CE and omission error (OE) of 13.2% and 11.5%, respectively. The proposed method could effectively reduce the interference of highly reflective buildings for active fire detection, and it has general applicability and stability for detecting discrete, small-scale fires in urban and rural areas.

The exploration and development of Gulong shale oil in the Songliao Basin has achieved a major breakthrough, with the result that a national shale oil demonstration area is being built. The shale in the Sanzhao Sag is abundant in organic matter and is an important replacement area. For this reason, it has recently become a focus for research and exploration. Compared with the Gulong Sag, the Qingshankou Formation in the Sanzhao Sag is relatively immature, and comparatively little is known about its pore structure. For this study, well ZY1, a key well in the Sanzhao Sag, was selected as the research object. Thin section observation, high-resolution field emission scanning electron microscopy, Modular Automated Processing Systemimaging, X-ray diffraction of whole rock and clay, TOC pyrolysis, and Low-pressure N2 adsorption were used to investigate the pore structure in the sag to determine the factors influencing pore development. The principal understandings are as follows: (1) The Qingshankou Formation in the Sanzhao Sag is predominantly clay shale, with a high content of clay minerals (32.8 to 70%) and TOC contents of 0.7 to 11%. These values indicate good hydrocarbon generation potential. (2) Interparticle pores, intraparticle pores, and organic matter pores are developed. Intergranular pores are the main type, mostly observed between granular minerals or between granular minerals and clays. Intraparticle pores are observed in pyrite mass and dissolved unstable minerals. Organic matter pores (OMP) occur in primary organic matter and migrate into solid bitumen. (3) The shale pores in the Sanzhao Sag are mainly H3-type slit pores, with specific surface areas of 5.4~22.9 m2/g and pore volumes of 0.03~0.07 cm3/g. Mesopores make the largest contribution to pore volume and specific surface area. Scanning electron microscope (MAPS) imaging shows that the pore size distribution of shale is mainly 20~30 nm and 100~200 nm and that large pores, especially pores of 100~200 nm and 1~2 μm, make the largest contribution to the facies. (4) The pore structure in the Sanzhao Sag is affected by mineral composition, abundance of organic matter, thermal evolution degree, and diagenesis. Organic-inorganic interactions influence and determine the pore structure characteristics of the Qingshankou Formation shale. This paper is intended to provide scientific guidance and technical support for evaluating the effectiveness of shale oil reservoirs and selecting sweet spots in the Sanzhao Sag.

Based on energy balance theory, using Theil–Sen median trend analysis and the Mann–Kendall test, this research studied the applicability of the complementary theory of evapotranspiration (ET) over Ningxia in the Upper Reaches of the Yellow River with MOD16 ET product and the measured data of meteorological stations, based on which ET drought index (EDI) was proposed for the first time. Moreover, the usability of EDI was also verified and its influencing factors were analyzed. The results revealed that there was a complementary relationship between AET and PET in 91.1% of the area in Ningxia, including strictly complementary and asymmetrically complementary relationships in 69.2% and 21.9% of the total area, respectively. EDI ranged from 0 to 1 and was useful to accurately reflect the degree of drought of the study area on the annual and monthly scales. From 2001 to 2020, the average annual EDI was 0.66, and the smallest monthly EDI was in January and the largest was in May. EDI of different time scales had different influencing factors. Precipitation was the most influencing factor of annual EDI, but the influencing factors of monthly EDI was different over time. However, surface non-precipitation water replenishment, such as irrigation, had great impact both on annual EDI and monthly EDI. The application scope of the theory of ET complementarity was extended to the study area for the first time, and EDI was proposed and applied, which will provide a theoretical basis and empirical reference for drought research based on ET data in arid and semi-arid areas.

Background: Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is a general complication following cardiac and major non-cardiac surgery amongst the elderly, yet its causes and mechanisms are still unknown. The present study aimed to detect whether regional cerebral blood flow (CBF) is altered in the brain before surgery in POCD patients compared with non-POCD (NPOCD) patients, thus, CBF variation may potentially predict the occurrence of early POCD.Methods: Fifty patients scheduled for spinal stenosis surgery were enrolled in the study. All study participants completed a battery of neuropsychological tests (NPTs) by a well-trained neuropsychologist before the surgery and 1 week after the surgery. POCD was defined when the preoperative to postoperative difference of at least two of the NPTs’ |Z|-scores with reference to a control group exceeded 1.96. Pulsed arterial spin-labeling (ASL) MRI was scanned at least 1 day before surgery. The ASLtbx toolkit and SPM12 were applied to preprocess and correct the images, which were then normalized to the MNI brain template space to obtain standardized cerebral perfusion images.Results: POCD was identified in 11 out of 50 patients (22%). The CBF of the right superior temporal lobe, right and left middle cingulate gyrus, and the right hippocampus, and parahippocampal gyrus in POCD group was lower than that in NPOCD group (P < 0.001). The CBF of the pars triangularis of inferior frontal gyrus in POCD group was higher than that in NPOCD group (P < 0.001).Conclusions: These preliminary findings suggest that CBF premorbid alterations may happen in cognitively intact elderly patients that develop early POCD. Alterations of preoperative CBF might be a bio-marker for early POCD that can be detected by noninvasive MRI scans.

Abstract Rho-associated coiled-coil kinase (ROCK)2 targeting down-regulates autoimmune responses in animal models and patients, however the underlying molecular mechanism is still an enigma. We report that ROCK2 binds phosphorylated-STAT3 and its kinase activity controls the formation of ROCK2/STAT3/JAK2 complex and optimal STAT3 phosphorylation in human CD4+ T cells during T helper 17 (TH17)-skewing. Moreover, chromatin-immunoprecipitation sequencing (ChIP-seq) analysis revealed that, genome-wide, about 70% of ROCK2 and STAT3 peaks overlapped and co-localized to several key genes controlling TH17 and T follicular helper (TFH) cell functions. Specifically, the co-occupancy of ROCK2 and STAT3 on the Irf4 and Bcl6 genes was validated by ChIP-qPCR analysis. Furthermore, the binding of ROCK2 to both the Irf4 and Bcl6 promoters was attenuated by STAT3 silencing as well as by selective ROCK2 inhibitor. Thus, the present study demonstrated previously unidentified evidence that ROCK2-mediated signaling in the cytosol provides a positive feed-forward signal for nuclear ROCK2 to be recruited to the chromatin by STAT3 and potentially regulates TH17/TFH gene transcription.

Abstract Recent studies have implicated long non-coding RNA, AC079767.4, as a highly susceptible gene in tuberculosis. The aim of the study was to preliminarily explore the possible association of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in AC079767.4 gene with clinical phenotypes and TB susceptibility in Western Chinese Han population. The improved multiplex ligation detection reaction (iMLDR) method was employed to genotype 4 SNPs in AC079767.4 in 554 tuberculosis patients and 561 healthy individuals. In subgroup analysis, only the C allele for rs12477677 was associated with the decreased susceptibility to pulmonary TB with a p-value of 0.026, but p-value was 0.103 after Bonferroni correction. In total samples, haplotype [ACAC], representing four AC079767.4 variants, was found to slightly decrease TB risk (p = 0.045). Furthermore, patients with the CC genotype of rs12477677 were correlated with fewer occurrences of fever (p = 0.016), while patients carrying the T allele were associated with lower levels of ESR in the dominant model of rs1055229 (p = 0.021). For the first time, we reported the potential susceptibility and clinical traits of tuberculosis with lncRNA variants in the Western Han Chinese population. Our data indicate AC079767.4 polymorphisms may potentially act as novel biomarkers for tuberculosis diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

In this study, the authors consider the problem of direction of arrival (DOA) estimation in compressive sensing multiple-input and multiple-output (CS-MIMO) radars with co-prime receive arrays. A sparse aperture completion scheme is proposed to fill the ‘holes’ that in the difference co-array, achieving the full virtual receive aperture. Structured measurement matrices are devised in order that the output data of match filters can be seen as space–time compressed signal of a virtual uniform linear array. By employing the space–time recovery scheme, the sparse target scene can be accurately recovered while the amount of samples is further reduced. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can achieve accurate DOA estimation with space–time compressed data and outperform the CS-based difference co-array methods.

Tight sandstone gas from coal-measure source rock is widespread in China, and it is represented by the Xujiahe Formation of the Sichuan Basin and the Upper Paleozoic of the Ordos Basin. It is affected by planar evaporative hydrocarbon expulsion of coal-measure source rock and the gentle structural background; hydrodynamics and buoyancy play a limited role in the gas migration-accumulation in tight sandstone. Under the conditions of low permeability and speed, non-Darcy flow is quite apparent, it gives rise to gas-water mixed gas zone. In the gas displacing water experiment, the shape of percolation flow curve is mainly influenced by core permeability. The lower the permeability, the higher the starting pressure gradient as well as the more evident the non-Darcy phenomenon will be. In the gas displacing water experiment of tight sandstone, the maximum gas saturation of the core is generally less than 50% (ranging from 30% to 40% and averaging at 38%); it is similar to the actual gas saturation of the gas zone in the subsurface core. The gas saturation and permeability of the core have a logarithm correlation with a correlation coefficient of 0.8915. In the single-phase flow of tight sandstone gas, low-velocity non-Darcy percolation is apparent; the initial flow velocity (Vd) exists due to the slippage effect of gas flow. The shape of percolation flow curve of a single-phase gas is primarily controlled by core permeability and confining pressure; the lower the permeability or the higher the confining pressure, the higher the starting pressure (0.02–0.08 MPa/cm), whereas, the higher the quasi-initial flow speed, the longer the nonlinear section and the more obvious the non-Darcy flow will be. The tight sandstone gas seepage mechanism study shows that the lower the reservoir permeability, the higher the starting pressure and the slower the flow velocity will be, this results in the low efficiency of natural gas migration and accumulation as well as low gas saturation. The laboratory modeling on gas migration accumulation mechanism in coal-measure tight sandstone can provide a theoretic foundation to reveal the tight sandstone gas enrichment regularity, evaluation of prospecting area, and the study of development mechanism.

Growth factors of the gp130 family promote oligodendrocyte differentiation, and viability, and myelination, but their mechanisms of action are incompletely understood. Here, we show that these effects are coordinated, in part, by the transcriptional activator Krüppel-like factor-6 (Klf6). Klf6 is rapidly induced in oligodendrocyte progenitors (OLP) by gp130 factors, and promotes differentiation. Conversely, in mice with lineage-selective Klf6 inactivation, OLP undergo maturation arrest followed by apoptosis, and CNS myelination fails. Overlapping transcriptional and chromatin occupancy analyses place Klf6 at the nexus of a novel gp130-Klf-importin axis, which promotes differentiation and viability in part via control of nuclear trafficking. Klf6 acts as a gp130-sensitive transactivator of the nuclear import factor importin-α5 (Impα5), and interfering with this mechanism interrupts step-wise differentiation. Underscoring the significance of this axis in vivo, mice with conditional inactivation of gp130 signaling display defective Klf6 and Impα5 expression, OLP maturation arrest and apoptosis, and failure of CNS myelination.

Due to being derived from linear assumption, most elastic body based non-rigid image registration algorithms are facing challenges for soft tissues with complex nonlinear behavior and with large deformations. To take into account the geometric nonlinearity of soft tissues, we propose a registration algorithm on the basis of Newtonian differential equation. The material behavior of soft tissues is modeled as St. Venant-Kirchhoff elasticity, and the nonlinearity of the continuum represents the quadratic term of the deformation gradient under the Green- St.Venant strain. In our algorithm, the elastic force is formulated as the derivative of the deformation energy with respect to the nodal displacement vectors of the finite element; the external force is determined by the registration similarity gradient flow which drives the floating image deforming to the equilibrium condition. We compared our approach to three other models: 1) the conventional linear elastic finite element model (FEM); 2) the dynamic elastic FEM; 3) the robust block matching (RBM) method. The registration accuracy was measured using three similarities: MSD (Mean Square Difference), NC (Normalized Correlation) and NMI (Normalized Mutual Information), and was also measured using the mean and max distance between the ground seeds and corresponding ones after registration. We validated our method on 60 image pairs including 30 medical image pairs with artificial deformation and 30 clinical image pairs for both the chest chemotherapy treatment in different periods and brain MRI normalization. Our method achieved a distance error of 0.320±0.138 mm in x direction and 0.326±0.111 mm in y direction, MSD of 41.96±13.74, NC of 0.9958±0.0019, NMI of 1.2962±0.0114 for images with large artificial deformations; and average NC of 0.9622±0.008 and NMI of 1.2764±0.0089 for the real clinical cases. The title complex, [Fe2O(SO4)2(C12H8N2)4]·8H2O, contains two unique FeIII cations, one oxide anion, four 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands, two coordinated sulfate anions and eight lattice water molecules. Each FeIII ion has an approximate octahedral geometry, coordinated by four N atoms from two phen molecules, two O atoms from oxide and sulfate anions, respectively. The parallel phen molecules form two-dimensional supermolecules through π–π stacking interactions [centroid–centroid distances = 3.684 (3), 3.711 (3), 3.790 (3), 3.847 (3), 3.746 (3), 3.732 (3) and 3.729 (3) Å]. This architecture is further stabilized by O—H...O hydrogen bonds involving the lattice water molecules and sulfate O atoms.

The study aims to examine the associations between social contact pattern changes and mental health status, including depression, anxiety, and loneliness, among Chinese adults in the context of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Data on social contact patterns before and after the outbreak of COVID-19 were obtained from 3511 participants. Mental health (ie, depression, anxiety, and loneliness) was assessed by the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire, Dark Future Scale, and the 9-scale Three-Item Loneliness Scale, respectively. Poisson regression analyses revealed that the participants who had increased in-person communication were more likely to have mental disorders [depression: prevalence ratio (PR)=1.13, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.02, 1.26; anxiety: PR=1.15, 95% CI: 1.01, 1.30].
