Aim: The present study compared the safety, efficacy, and tolerability of the new fixed-dose combination (FDC) of telmisartan 40 mg + bisoprolol 5 mg (TBP) tablets with the existing comparator FDC telmisartan 40 mg + metoprolol succinate ER 50 mg (TMS) tablets in patients with stage 1 and stage 2 hypertension. Methodology: The multicentric, double-blind, parallel-group, comparative, prospective, phase-III clinical study involved 264 subjects with stage 1 and stage 2 hypertension from 10 centres across India. The selected subjects were randomized into two groups: group A received the TMS and group B received the new FDC TBP. The primary endpoint was the mean change in seated systolic blood pressure (SeSBP) and seated diastolic blood pressure (SeDBP) from baseline to week 12 in both the control and study arms. Aim: The aim of this study was to validate the potential of teneligliptin in managing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with renal impairment and to evaluate its effect on renal parameters in Indian subjects. Patients and Methods: The prospective observational study included 86 subjects aged >40 years with suboptimal control of T2DM (HbA1c >7.5). The demographic details of the selected subjects were recorded. The patients were continued on existing oral hypoglycemic agents (OHAs) and antihypertensives. The following clinical and anthropometric parameters were measured at baseline, 4 months, 8 months, and 12 months during the treatment using 20 mg of teneligliptin per day: HbA1c, eGFRs, UACR, FBG, and PPBG levels. Comparisons of anthropometric and laboratory parameters were carried out using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and t test for normal data, Kruskal–Wallis for nonnormal data, and chi-square test for counts data. Results: The mean age of the subjects was 54.28 ± 6.8 years and the male-to-female ratio noted was 1:0.65. The mean values of FBG (mg/dL ± SD) at 4, 8, and 12 months were found to be statistically significant (P < 0.001, 117.12 ± 30.51, 109.69 ± 43.66, and 113.16 ± 56.93, respectively). t test carried out for PPBG indicated that the levels at respective intervals were significantly reduced as opposed to baseline (P < 0.05). The difference in HbA1c (%) across baseline, 4, 8, and 12 months was found to be statistically significant (P < 0.001) and the mean levels noted were 8.09 ± 2.26, 7.57 ± 1.84, 6.95 ± 1.80, and 6.46 ± 1.81, respectively. The difference in UACR across different intervals was found to be statistically significant (P < 0.001) and the corresponding mean UACRs (mg/g ± SD) noted were 417.21 ± 182.87, 291.82 ± 98.30, 296.84 ± 109.48 and 284.18 ± 103.26. Conclusion: Teneligliptin monotherapy is well tolerated with a persistent reduction in HbA1C and significant improvement in renal function.

High edge energy storage with large life-span stable materials have become the most significant and major requirement in near future. Bismuth sulfide (Bi2S3) nanoparticles (NPs) was effectively synthesized by utilizing bismuth diethyldithiocarbamate (Bi[DTC]3) complex as single-source antecedent. The synthesized Bi2S3 NPs were affirmed by structural, morphological and thermal analysis with various analytical studies. The electrochemical performance of Bi2S3 NPs reveals that, exhibit redox behavior from cyclic voltammetry analysis, the charge–discharge analysis was examined by the galvanostatic chronopotentiometry. Bi2S3 NPs exhibit excellent supercapacitor behavior with value of the specific capacitance 470 Fg−1 at current density 0.5 Ag−1 and the retentivity of 79% after 1000 cycles. The Bi2S3 NPs were further utilized as photocatalytic discoloration of Congo Red (CR) dye in aqueous medium under UV light irradiation. Which shows, excellent catalytic behaviour, up to 98% of CR dye degrade within 150 min and it is exhibit good catalytic stability and reusability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Treatment decisions for shoulder instability often necessitate surgical intervention, with glenoid bone loss being a key factor. Currently, various techniques exist to identify glenoid bone loss, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. This study introduces the Coraco-Gleno-Scapular (CGS) line as a tool for assessing critical glenoid bone defects. The objective is to define the CGS line and evaluate its utility in guiding clinical decisions regarding bone loss, proposing that defects extending posterior to this line indicate critical bone involvement requiring surgical intervention., Methods: The study analyzed 50 normal right shoulders from individuals aged 18-40 years. Using 3D en face views of the glenoid, the CGS line was defined from the anteroinferior base of the coracoid process, crossing the anterior glenoid, to the anteroinferior pole of the scapula. The Best fit circle area method and the Glenoid index linear method were used to calculate the percentage of the bone area located anterior to the CGS line., Results: The Best Fit Circle Area Method revealed a mean glenoid surface area anterior to the CGS line of 22.19%, while the Glenoid Index Linear Method indicated a mean area of 27.2% anterior to the CGS line. Of the 50 shoulders, 14 had a glenoid surface area <20% anterior to the CGS line using the Best Fit Circle Method, with no cases below 17.5%, while 36 individuals had a glenoid surface area >20%., Conclusion: The Coraco-Gleno-Scapular line is a reliable and simple tool for assessing glenoid bone loss, providing valuable guidance in managing shoulder instability. We report herein a direct synthetic route for the preparation of 2-arylbenzothiazoles using aryl isothiocyanates and electron-rich arenes. The synthetic route involves triflic acid promoted addition of the arenes to aryl isothiocyanates followed by FeCl 3 -catalyzed C-S bond formation via C-H functionalization. The approach provides the advantage of synthesis of benzothiazoles without the conventional use of aryl aldehyde/carboxylic acid precursors employing the less expensive iron(III) catalyst.

Based on the molecular hybridization strategy, thirty-four imidazo[1,2- a ]pyridine amides (IPAs) and imidazo[1,2- a ]pyridine sulfonamides (IPSs) were designed and synthesized. The structures of the target compounds were characterized using 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, LCMS, and elemental analyses. The synthesized compounds were evaluated in vitro for anti-tubercular activity using the microplate Alamar Blue assay against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv strain and the MIC was determined. The evaluated compounds exhibited MIC in the range 0.05-≤100 μg mL -1 . Among these derivatives, IPA- 6 (MIC 0.05 μg mL -1 ), IPA- 9 (MIC 0.4 μg mL -1 ), and IPS- 1 (MIC 0.4 μg mL -1 ) displayed excellent anti-TB activity, whereas compounds IPA- 5, IPA- 7 and IPS- 16 showed good anti-TB activity (MIC 0.8-3.12 μg mL -1 ). The most active compounds with MIC of <3.125 μg mL -1 were screened against human embryonic kidney cells to check their cytotoxicity to normal cells. It was observed that these compounds were nontoxic (SI value ≥66). The ADMET characteristics of the final compounds were also predicted in silico . Further, using the Glide module of Schrodinger software, a molecular docking study of IPA- 6 was carried out to estimate the binding pattern at the active site of enoyl acyl carrier protein reductase from Mycobacterium tuberculosis (PDB 4TZK). Finally, molecular dynamics simulations were performed for 100 ns to elucidate the stability, conformation, and intermolecular interactions of the co-crystal ligand and significantly active compound IPA- 6 on the selected target protein. Context: India is an "aging nation" with 7.7% of its population being above 60 years of age. It has resulted in a rise of both physical and mental health morbidities., Aims: This study aimed to gather information regarding the morbidity pattern and its sociodemographic determinants among the elderly residing in the rural villages of Raichur, to understand the need for geriatric health-care facilities., Settings and Design: This community-based cross-sectional study was carried out in six rural villages of Raichur District, of which 230 elderly were selected randomly., Subjects and Methods: The data were collected using a questionnaire, clinical history, examination, and cross-checking of medical records., Statistical Analysis Used: Data were analyzed using Epi Info version-3.5.3., Results: The prevalence of morbidity was 91.7% with an average of 3/person. Females (58.9%) had more morbidities than men (41.1%). The 3 most common morbidities were orthopedic (50.5%), cataract (50.4%), and respiratory (31.3%). 26.6% suffered from gastrointestinal morbidities while 23.9% had dental problems. 20.9% had hypertension with equal prevalence among both sexes. Only 17.4% were diabetics with majority being women. Central nervous system morbidities were 14.2% while 9.6% suffered from hearing loss and varicose veins. 8.2% had genitourinary-urinary morbidities and incontinence (1.7%) was common among both sexes. Depression (71.1%) and dermatological morbidities (4.7%) were prevalent among women. Only 3.5% suffered from cardiac morbidity and 0.4% from cancer. Significant association was found between age and morbidity and also between socioeconomic class and morbidity pattern., Conclusions: Geriatric care should become an integral part of primary health care. Background: Medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) is one of the major static medial stabilising structures of the patella. MPFL is most often damaged in patients with patellar instability. Reconstruction of MPFL is becoming a common surgical procedure in treating patellar instability. We hypothesised that MPFL reconstruction was adequate to treat patients with patellar instability if the tibial tubercle and the centre of the trochlear groove (TT-TG) value was less than 20 mm and without a dysplastic trochlea., Materials and Methods: 30 patients matching our inclusion criteria and operated between April 2009 and May 2011 were included in the study. MPFL reconstruction was performed using gracilis tendon fixed with endobutton on the patellar side and bio absorbable interference screw or staple on the femoral side. Patients were followed up with subjective criteria, Kujala score and Lysholm score., Results: The mean duration of followup was 25 months (range 14-38 months). The mean preoperative Kujala score was 47.5 and Lysholm score was 44.7. The mean postoperative Kujala score was 87 and Lysholm score was 88.06. None of the patients had redislocation., Conclusion: MPFL reconstruction using gracilis tendon gives excellent results in patients with patellar instability with no redislocations. Some patients may have persistence of apprehension.
