Begreppet inkludering är inte något som lyfts ordagrant i läroplanen. Trots detta kan man förstå läroplanens formuleringar som att personalen i skolan ska utgå från ett förhållningssätt som syftar till att inkludera alla elever. Denna fallstudies syfte är att undersöka fritidshemmets arbete med elever i behov av stöd utifrån ett helhetsperspektiv. Genom att genomföra en kvalitativ fallstudie på en skola med hjälp utav metoderna intervjuer och observationer har vi kunnat undersöka fritidshemmets arbete med elever i behov av stöd utifrån detta helhetsperspektiv. Helhetsperspektivet i vår studie innebär att vi undersökt olika professioners tankar, erfarenheter och upplevelser. Den tidigare forskning vi valt att använda oss utav är forskning som lyfter förutsättningar, relationer samt begreppet inkludering ur olika perspektiv. Forskningen bidrar bland annat med att belysa innebörden av det breda begreppet inkludering ur olika synvinklar. Genom det relationella- och det psykosociala perspektivet fick vi en möjlighet att genomföra en djupare analys utifrån våra frågeformuleringar. Tillsammans ger perspektiven ett brett synsätt på hur relationer, kommunikation och miljö påverkar elever i behov av stöd. Analysen av vårt resultat har visat en genomgående röd tråd av hur relationer spelar en viktig roll i arbetet med elever i behov av stöd. Den genomgående röda tråden har bestått av att olika professioner, på olika sätt betonat vikten av att bygga relationer med elever för att gynna en inkluderande verksamhet. Resultatet har även visat att fritidspersonalens förutsättningar påverkas av ledningens förståelse för fritids huvudsakliga uppdrag. I vår diskussion har delar av resultaten blivit bekräftade av den tidigare forskningen. Men det har även påvisats att det krävs en vidareutveckling utav personalens strukturer och arbetssätt på skolorganisationsnivå. The concept of inclusion is not something that is raised verbatim in the curriculum. Despite this, the curriculum’s wording can be understood as meaning that the staff at the school should start from an approach that aims to include all students. The purpose of this case study is to research the leisure-time center’s work with students in need of support from a holistic perspective. By carrying out a qualitative case study at one school using the methods of interviews and observations, we have been able to examine the leisure-time center’s work with students in need of support from this holistic perspective. The holistic perspective in our research means that we researched the thoughts and experiences of different professionals. The previous research we have chosen to use are research that highlight the conditions, relationships and the concept of inclusion from different perspectives. Among other things, the research contributes by elucidating the meaning of the broad concept of inclusion from different points of view. Through the relational and psychosocial perspective, we were given an opportunity to carry out a deeper analysis based on our question formulations. Together, the perspectives provide a broad view of how relationships, communication and the environment impact students in need of support. The analysis of our results has shown a consistent red thread of how relations play an important role in working with students in need of support. The consistent red thread has consisted of different professions, in different ways, emphasizing the importance of building relationships with students in order to favor an inclusive activity. The results have also shown that the leisure staff’s conditions are affected by management’s understanding of leisure’s main mission. In our discussion, parts of the results have been confirmed by the previous research. But it has also been shown that a further development of the staff’s structures and working methods at the school organization level is required.

Questionable research practices: The (un)ethical handling of data in quantitative humanities research. (Larsson, Plonsky, Sterling, Kytö, Yaw, Wood, 2021-2023; Project ID: FOE20-0017)

In 1953, two individuals were excavated in Erik XIII’s alley, Visby, Gotland. After the excavation, the individuals did not undergo an osteological examination and were preserved for several years by the Gotland Museum. These two individuals were selected for this thesis to undergo an osteological analysis. The purpose of the essay was to identify and investigate the two individuals from Erik XIII's alley and illuminate the Viking age of Visby. A spatial analysis of Erik XIII's alley and the surrounding environment was carried out, to emphasize Visby’s Viking-age. Erik XIII's alley is in the northern part of Visby's inner city and is within walking distance of the two largest Viking-era burial grounds in Visby, Kopparsvik and Gustavsvik. Individual 1, who was judged to be a man, was approximately 182cm tall and was between 33-45 years old when he died. Individual 2 was judged to be a probable man and was between 17-25 at the time of his death and had an approximate length of 173cm. The individuals have only two common pathologies, which are osteophytes and tartar. Individual 2 had significantly fewer pathologies than individual 1, which may be a side effect of the age difference between them. In individual 1, enthesopathies were also identified, which were roughly consistent throughout the body, ligamente flava, pitting and osteoarthritis. Individual 2 showed changes from two different deficiency diseases, cribra orbitalia and enamel hypoplasia. The discussion is divided into three parts that emphasize the individuals, the comparison with other Viking-era individuals on Gotland and the spatial context. The individuals' pathologies are discussed, and possible interpretations of the individuals are presented. When the individuals from Erik XIII's alley are compared to other Viking-age individuals who have undergone osteological examinations, the result mainly varies. In the spatial context, possible interpretations of the graves are presented, which consist of an additional burial ground with different interpretations, as a burial ground for the king's company, or simple farm burials.

Bakgrund: Diabetes mellitus typ 1 är en av de vanligaste kroniska sjukdomarna hos barn och forskning har visat på att diabetes typ 1 drabbar allt fler unga människor. Sjukdomen vänder upp och ner på familjens vardag och innebär att föräldern bevakar barnets blodglukosvärde under dygnets alla timmar. För att undvika komplikationer är det viktigt att föräldern stöttar barnet till en balans mellan kost, aktivitet och insulinbehandling. Föräldrarna ansvarar för barnets egenvård och framtida hälsotillstånd. Syfte: Att beskriva erfarenheter av att vara förälder till barn med diabetes typ 1. Metod:En litteraturöversikt baserad på tolv vetenskapliga studier med kvalitativ design. Sökningarna utfördes i databaserna CINAHL Complete och PubMed. Studierna analyserades inspirerade av Friberg. Resultat:Resultatet redovisas i tre teman: Att ha ansvar för sitt barns sjukdom, Att leva med ständig oro och Att förlora ett normalt liv. Diskussion:Resultatet diskuterades utifrån Dorothea Orems egenvårdsteori. Att ha ett barn med diabetes mellitus typ 1 innebär att ansvara för barnets egenvård, dygnet runt samt att ta ansvaret för sjukdomen och uppleva oron för eventuella komplikationerna, påverkade förälderns fysiska och psykiska mående. Sjuksköterskan har en viktig roll att fånga upp förälderns mående och på så sätt förebygga att det påverkar behandlingen av sjukdomen. Slutsats:Resultatet har visat betydelsen av en helhetsvård och där varje individs situation beaktas.

In viewing formality as a cline rather than as a dichotomy, the present study revisits previous claims about (in)formality in learner writing in relation to syntactic complexity. The use of commonly utilized measures of syntactic complexity is explored in learner writing and across four registers from the British National Corpus (academic prose, popular science, news and fiction). The results show that while the learners generally exhibited appropriate register awareness, there were some differences noted between their writing and that of the published writers, in particular with regard to the measure of complex nominals. A detailed analysis of this measure in the academic register showed that the learners make less frequent use of adjectival and prepositional modifiers than the expert writers. Our results thus confirm previous claims about the importance of phrase-level complexity measures as a predictor of formality. It would seem that learners would benefit from some targeted instruction of such structures for increased register awareness.

In Learner Corpus Research (LCR), a common source of errors stems from manual coding and annotation of linguistic features. To estimate the amount of error present in a coded dataset, coefficients of inter-rater reliability are used. However, despite the importance of reliability and internal consistency for validity and, by extension, study quality, interpretability and generalizability, it is surprisingly uncommon for studies in the field of LCR to report on such reliability coefficients. In this Methods Report, we use a recent collaborative research project to illustrate the pertinence of considering inter-rater reliability. In doing so, we hope to initiate methodological discussion on instrument design, piloting and evaluation. We also suggest some ways forward to encourage increased transparency in reporting practices.

Studiens syfte är att undersöka på vilket sätt den amerikanska civilreligionen visar sig inom den amerikanska militären och hur den kan inverka på eventuella föreställningar om och påverka identiteten hos de amerikanska soldaterna. Studien genomförs med hjälp av en litteraturöversikt och dess material består av vetenskapliga artiklar. De teoretiska perspektiv som används inom studien är Peter L. Bergers och Thomas Luckmanns kunskapssociologi i kombination med den Social identitetsteori som presenteras av Antoon Geels och Owe Wikström. Ur studien framkom i huvudsak tre slutsatser. Den första slutsatsen är att den amerikanska civilreligionen visar sig inom den amerikanska militären bland annat via den nära relation som finns mellan nationen, militärverksamheten och soldaterna. Slutsats nummer två är att den amerikanska civilreligionen kan inverka på föreställningar om den amerikanska soldaten exempelvis genom objektivering. Den tredje slutsatsen är att den amerikanska civilreligionen kan påverka de amerikanska soldaternas identitet via den amerikanska militärverksamheten. Sådan påverkan är möjlig genom depersonalisation och synkroniserade utseenden. Av studien dras även slutsatsen att det finns behov av mer forskning inom ämnesområdet.

There are sets of grammatical stance markers that are morphologically and semantically related, but that differ with regard to their syntactic realization (e.g. importantly, it is important that and the importance of). Little attention has, however, been paid to how these pattern across registers in expert and apprentice data. This study examines eleven such sets across five registers of the BNC to investigate which of these register(s) the apprentice writers’ use is closest to and what that can tell us about their adherence to academic norms. The results show that there is a cline from the a priori more formal registers to the less formal registers for the stance markers investigated. When the apprentice writers’ usage was mapped onto this cline, it became clear that their usage diverged slightly from that of the academic experts, thus indicating a lack of register awareness. Yet, very little evidence was found to support previous claims of the “spoken-like” nature of learner writing.

Bakgrund: Allt fler människor upplever sig stressade i dagens samhälle. Fysisk aktivitet har visat sig ha många positiva hälsofördelar, inte minst på upplevelsen av stress. Trots det så prioriteras det oftast inte av individer som upplever stress. Att vara fysiskt inaktiv är en riskfaktor som i kombination med stress kan leda till allvarliga sjukdomar och psykisk ohälsa. Fysisk aktivitet leder inte enbart till bättre fysisk hälsa utan även till ökat välmående och överlag högre livskvalité. Syfte: Syftet med den här studien var att undersöka om 100 minuter gruppträning i veckan under 5 veckor hade någon effekt på upplevelsen av vardaglig stress, välmående och kondition hos fysiskt inaktiva individer med måttlig till hög grad av stress. Deltagare: 30 individer (24 kvinnor, 5 män och 1 icke-binär) mellan åldrarna 20-40 år deltog i studien. Två grupper slumpades, interventionsgrupp (n=15) och kontrollgrupp (n=15). Deltagarna höll inte på med någon fysisk aktivitet och skattade sig som måttligt (totalsumma >14) till högt stressade (totalsumma >27) på PSS-10. Metod: Deltagarna fick fylla i en enkät kopplat till upplevd, vardaglig stress (PSS-10), en enkät om välmående (VS) och genomförde ett submaximalt cykelergometertest (EB-test). Samtliga enkäter och cykelergometertest gjordes igen efter en 5 veckors intervention. Där interventionsgruppen hade deltagit i 100 minuter gruppbaserad cirkelträning per vecka och kontrollgruppen uppmanades fortsätta leva som vanligt. Resultat: Signifikanta skillnader hittades hos interventionsgruppen mellan pre- och posttester för skattning på PSS-10 (p=0,0001) och VS (p14) to highly stressed (total sum>27) on PSS-10. Method: The participants filled in got to answer a questionnaire related to perceived life stress (PSS-10), a questionnaire about well-being (VS) and performed a submaximal bicycle ergometer test (EB-test). After a 5 week intervention period the questionnaires were distributed again and the bicycle ergometer test was performed. The intervention group participated in 100 minutes of group based circuit training per week while the control group was requested to continue to live as before. The present compilation thesis investigates the use of a pattern that is commonly found in academic writing, namely the introductory it pattern (e.g. it is interesting to note the difference). The main aim is to shed further light on the formal and functional characteristics of the pattern in academic writing. When relevant, the thesis also investigates functionally related constructions. The focus is on learner use, but reference corpora of published writing and non-native-speaker student writing have also been utilized for comparison. The thesis encompasses an introductory survey (a “kappa”) and four articles. The material comes from six different corpora: ALEC, BATMAT, BAWE, LOCRA, MICUSP and VESPA. Factors such as native-speaker status, discipline, level of achievement (lower-graded vs. higher-graded texts) and level of expertise in academic writing are investigated in the articles. In more detail, Articles 1 and 2 examine the formal (syntactic) characteristics of the introductory it pattern. The pattern is studied using modified versions of two previous syntactic classifications. Articles 3 and 4 investigate the functional characteristics of the pattern. In Article 3, a functional classification is developed and used to categorize the instances. Article 4 examines the stance-marking function of the pattern in relation to functionally related constructions (e.g. stance adverbs such as possibly and stance noun + prepositional phrase combinations like the possibility of). The introductory it pattern was found to be relatively invariable in the sense that a small set of formal and functional realizations made up the bulk of the tokens. The learners, especially those whose texts received a lower grade, made particularly frequent use of high-frequency realizations of the pattern. The thesis highlights the importance of not limiting investigations of this kind to comparisons across native-speaker status, as this is only one of the several factors that can influence the distribution. By exploring the potential importance of many different factors from both a formal and a functional perspective, the thesis paints a more complete picture of the introductory it pattern in academic writing, of use in, for instance, second-language instruction.

Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att undersöka hur flickor/kvinnor respektive pojkar/män framställs i Sveriges Televisions kanal Barnkanalen, vilka egenskaper och utseenden de två könen tillskrivs samt om några stereotyper förekommer och i så fall vilka de är. Detta har undersökts med hjälp av semiotiska analyser och med genusperspektiv som teoretisk utgångspunkt, t.ex. Hirdmans genussystem och genuskontrakt, Josefsons teorier om kvinnliga respektive manliga egenskaper och aktiviteter, Connells olika sorters maskuliniteter samt Rönnbergs stereotyper i barn-tv. Undersökningen visar att flickor/kvinnor i barnprogrammen ofta framställs enligt vad som anses vara typiskt kvinnligt när det gäller utseende och yttre attribut, men i de flesta fall även har egenskaper och ägnar sig åt aktiviteter som anses vara typiskt manliga. Pojkar/män i barnprogrammen framställs för det mesta utifrån vad som anses vara typiskt manligt både när det gäller utseende, egenskaper och aktiviteter. Den mest förekommande stereotypa rollfiguren bland flickor/kvinnor i barnprogrammen är Den självständiga (yrkes)kvinnan medan den vanligaste bland pojkarna/männen i barnprogrammen är Vännen/Hjälparen.

This thesis studies public service social workers' opinions regarding their ability to act with moral courage as loyalty conflicts occur. The purpose of the thesis is to describe the social workers' experiences of their possibilities to stand up for what they believe in. We made qualitative interviews with five social workers in Stockholm. In an effort to pinpoint their experiences we asked them questions about what they want but cannot do and what is stop-ping them, what they do not want to do and why, aswell as what the possible solutions would be as loyalty conflicts occur. We were able to identify five different opinions on the organisa-tional cultures and how the employees' experience the extent of their actions. The social workers agree that at the moment they are able to alert a manager should a loyalty conflict occur and neither would want to further complicate the situation by working slower.The ob-stacles for acting in a loyalty conflict is connected to the hierarchies and abuse of power and personal impediments like their own expectations and dejected opinions such as "nothing is going to change anyway". When the social worker chooses not to act it is often because of moral values.

Målet med vår uppsats är att undersöka och analysera hur en individ presenterar sig på den virtuella arenan Facebook. Utifrån intervjuer och deltagande observation ska vi beskriva hur identitetsskapande uttrycks i förhållande till en social omgivning. Vidare ska vi visa hur värderingar och normer i samhället påverkar aktiviteter på Facebook. För att förklara detta utgår vi från valda delar av interaktionismen samt teorier om det postmoderna samhället. De begrepp vi använder oss av för att uppnå vårt syfte är roller och identiteter i anknytning till den virtuella världen samt att dessa formas och omformas i relation till ett socialt sammanhang. Vi har kommit fram till att Facebook är ett uttryck för det postmoderna samhället där identitetsskapandet är en process som sker beroende av omgivningen.

Denna fenomenografiska studie handlar om elevers upplevelser av läxa. Vårt syfte är att undersöka hur elever i en klass erfar läxa. Resultaten från undersökningen jämförs därefter med tidigare forskning. Tidigare forskning pekar på att läxa används av lärare som ansvarsträning, bestraffning och ett medel för att uppnå uppsatta mål i tid. Vår undersökning visar att elever upplever läxa som en tråkig men viktig uppgift som bestäms och kontrolleras av läraren. I vår kvalitativa undersökning har vi använt en semistrukturerad intervjuform för att ta reda på 15 grundskoleelevers uppfattningar om läxa. Vi fann att det finns en stor variation i upplevelser av fenomenet läxa, trots att eleverna i studien har samma läxbörda och läxsituation. Resultaten av undersökningen pekar på att eleverna saknar inflytande över läxorna. De elever som har ett framtidsperspektiv i sin läxläsning tar ett större ansvar än de elever som har ett kortsiktigt perspektiv, och som läser läxan för provens och läxförhörens skull. Vi menar att det är viktigt att elever inser syftet med läxa för motivationens och framtidens skull. Vår slutsats är att läxan behövs som ett träningsredskap för att stärka och utveckla elevers ansvarskänsla inför vuxenlivet.

This chapter examines a recent use of so in spoken British English, namely as a discourse marker conveying acceptance of an invitation to take the floor and give an explanation. I demonstrate a long-term increase in turn-initial so, dating the specifically ‘explanatory so’ to the 2010s in Britain. Evidence comes from corpora of academic discourse, of media language and especially of conversation. I argue that the usage is a coalescence of several well-attested discourse uses of so, perhaps strengthened by transatlantic influence. I explain the often hostile public reaction by the sentence grammar of so, also offering a general hypothesis about what makes an innovation salient and objectionable to conservative speakers.

This paper undertakes a keyword analysis of seven Shakespearean characters: Titus, Tamora, Aaron, Lear, Edmund, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The paper discusses how, once contextualised, these keywords provide useful insights into their feelings/thoughts towards others, events, motivations to act, etc. In terms of findings, only Aaron denotes his “villainy” directly. Tamora, in contrast, draws upon a keyword that is denotatively positive; in context, though, “sweet” reveals her womanly wiles. “Weep”, for Lear, and “legitimate” and “base”, for Edmund, problematize their status as (one-dimensional) villains. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth draw upon grammatical keywords, “if” and “would” in ways that signal something about their (deteriorating) emotional and social positions as much as their villainous intentions.
