This study is intended to explore the influence of partners' L2 proficiency on test-takers' performance and on their interaction patterns in paired oral assessment, and it tries to analyze the underlying causes on the basis of Vygotsky's theory of the zone of proximal development (ZPD) and Storch's patterns of interaction. An experiment including three rounds of tests was carried out with 12 students who were selected out of 60 from a top university in China. The findings showed that the high-level test-takers received the highest scores when paired with middle-level partners; the middle-level test-takers scored the highest and the lowest when paired with high-level partners and low-level partners respectively; the low-level test-takers had basically the same scores when paired with those of the other two different levels. The results could be partly explained by the fact that the higher level partners stimulated the lower level test-takers to the upper limit of ZPD through language interaction, but the mechanism of ZPD might not work when partners' proficiency levels were much higher than the ceiling of test-takers' ZPD. Besides, test-takers' performance was mediated by pair interaction patterns. The implications of the study not only deliver suggestions for fairness of paired oral assessment but also provide alternatives for test-takers to achieve higher scores in a paired speaking test by choosing partners of different L2 proficiency levels.

Exploring individual hallmarks of brain ageing is important. Here, we propose the age-related glucose metabolism pattern (ARGMP) as a potential index to characterize brain ageing in cognitively normal (CN) elderly people. We collected 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) PET brain images from two independent cohorts: the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI, N = 127) and the Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, Beijing, China (N = 84). During follow-up (mean 80.60 months), 23 participants in the ADNI cohort converted to cognitive impairment. ARGMPs were identified using the scaled subprofile model/principal component analysis method, and cross-validations were conducted in both independent cohorts. A survival analysis was further conducted to calculate the predictive effect of conversion risk by using ARGMPs. The results showed that ARGMPs were characterized by hypometabolism with increasing age primarily in the bilateral medial superior frontal gyrus, anterior cingulate and paracingulate gyri, caudate nucleus, and left supplementary motor area and hypermetabolism in part of the left inferior cerebellum. As an advanced optical precision ranging method, FMCW (frequency-modulated continuous-wave) laser interferometric ranging technology can achieve a large-scale and high-precision absolute distance measurement, so it has high research and application value in the field of coordinate measurement in large space. How to improve the resolution and stability of laser interferometry is a research difficulty in this technology. Based on FMCW laser interferometry relative distance technology, a method for achieving absolute distance measurement through phase comparison after repeated sampling is proposed. Using the FMCW laser distance measuring system, two interference optical paths of measuring interferometer and auxiliary interferometer are constructed, respectively. Synchronous sampling is performed on two interference signals, and the phase ratio of the two interference signals is obtained through the extracted frequency information. The optical path difference of the unknown measurement interferometer is derived from the known auxiliary interferometer information. This method uses a triangular wave modulation laser to reduce the influence of Doppler frequency shift and eliminate quantization errors. By using the fixed-point repeated sampling, the optical path difference information is quickly extracted, and the nonlinear error of laser interference frequency modulation is effectively reduced.

In the study of TAVR, 3-dimensional (3D) printed aortic root models and pulsatile simulators were used for simulation training and teaching before procedures. The study was carried out in the following three parts: (1) experts were selected and equally divided into the 3D-printed simulation group and the non-3D-printed simulation group to conduct four times of TAVR, respectively; (2) another 10 experts and 10 young proceduralists were selected to accomplish three times of TAVR simulations; (3) overall, all the doctors were organized to complete a specific questionnaire, to evaluate the training and teaching effect of 3D printed simulations. For the 3D-printed simulation group, six proceduralists had a less crossing-valve time (8.3 ± 2.1 min vs 11.8 ± 2.7 min, P < 0.001) and total operation time (102.7 ± 15.3 min vs 137.7 ± 15.4 min, P < 0.001). Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss, Walbaum, 1792) is an important economic cold-water fish that is susceptible to heat stress. To date, the heat stress response in rainbow trout is more widely understood at the transcriptional level, while little research has been conducted at the translational level. To reveal the translational regulation of heat stress in rainbow trout, in this study, we performed a ribosome profiling assay of rainbow trout liver under normal and heat stress conditions. Comparative analysis of the RNA-seq data with the ribosome profiling data showed that the folding changes in gene expression at the transcriptional level are moderately correlated with those at the translational level. In total, 1213 genes were significantly altered at the translational level. However, only 32.8% of the genes were common between both levels, demonstrating that heat stress is coordinated across both transcriptional and translational levels. Moreover, 809 genes exhibited significant differences in translational efficiency (TE), with the TE of these genes being considerably affected by factors such as the GC content, coding sequence length, and upstream open reading frame (uORF) presence. In addition, 3468 potential uORFs in 2676 genes were identified, which can potentially affect the TE of the main open reading frames. In this study, Ribo-seq and RNA-seq were used for the first time to elucidate the coordinated regulation of transcription and translation in rainbow trout under heat stress. Seed enterprises are crucial for ensuring national food security, the driving force behind the seed industry's advancement, and the core entity in constructing a modern seed industry system. At the micro and macro levels, agricultural seed enterprises face challenges and pressures in earning excess profits, enhancing their competitive edge, and resisting the incursion of multinational seed enterprises. This article selects panel data from 49 listed seed enterprises in China from 2015 to 2022 and uses methods such as global principal component analysis (GPCA) and Q-type cluster analysis to measure and evaluate the competitiveness of Chinese seed enterprises. Research has found that: (1) From 2015 to 2022, the overall competitiveness of listed Chinese agricultural seed enterprises has shown an upward trend. The competitiveness of agricultural seed enterprises can be further decomposed into operational capabilities, growth capabilities, production efficiency, technological innovation capabilities, etc. (2) The top ten agricultural seed enterprises in China have obvious advantages in operational and technological innovation capabilities, but their growth capabilities and production efficiency are insufficient. (3) Regarding the vertical comparison of the seed industry, the ranking of the competitiveness of Chinese listed agricultural seed enterprises from strong to weak is wheat seed enterprises > other seed enterprises > melon and vegetable seed enterprises > corn seed enterprises > rice seed enterprises. (4) Compared with international seed industry giants, there are various reasons why China's top agricultural seed enterprises have weaker competitiveness, specifically reflected in research and development investment, scale and market share, industrial layout, and other aspects. The findings of this research offer empirical evidence to bolster the competitiveness of seed enterprises and advance the seed industry, while also aiding in fortifying the nation's strategic oversight of the seed sector, bearing profound implications for safeguarding food security.
