β2- and β3-Amino acids are important chiral building blocks for the design of new pharmaceuticals and peptidomimetics. Here we report a straightforward regio- and enantiodivergent access to these compounds using a one-pot reaction composed of sparteine-mediated enantioselective lithiation of a Boc-1,3-oxazinane, transmetallation to zinc and direct or migratory Negishi coupling with an organic electrophile. The regioselectivity of the Negishi coupling was highly ligand-controlled and switchable to obtain the C4- or the C5-functionalized product exclusively. High enantioselectivities were achieved on a broad range of examples, and a catalytic version in chiral diamine was developed using the (+)-sparteine surrogate. Selected C4- and C5-functionalized Boc-1,3-oxazinanes were subsequently converted to highly enantio-enriched β2- and β3-amino acids with the (R) or (S) configuration, depending on the sparteine enantiomer employed in the lithiation step.

Based on mechanistic studies, it is proven that the reaction proceeds through metal-mediated anti-1,5-hydride transfer forming an iminonium intermediate, which accepts the addition of the in situ generated 1-alkynyl metal species. A completely different approach for the asymmetric construction of oxazoline derivatives with an excellent enantioselectivity via the palladium-catalyzed coupling-cyclization of N-(buta-2,3-dienyl)amides with aryl iodides has been reported., Oxazolines are a very important class of heterocyclic compounds. However, catalytic enantioselective syntheses are very limited. Here, a highly enantioselective palladium-catalyzed coupling-cyclization of readily available N-(buta-2,3-dienyl) amides with aryl or 1-alkenyl iodides has been developed for the asymmetric construction of oxazoline derivatives. Many synthetically useful functional groups are tolerated in this reaction. The absolute configuration of the chiral center in the products has been established by X-ray diffraction study. A model for prediction of the absolute configuration of the chiral center in the products from this cyclic enantioselective nucleophilic allylation has been proposed. The synthetic potentials based on the unique structure of the products formed have also been demonstrated.

The capacity/state-of-charge (SoC) and voltage of lithium-ion batteries are of prime importance in electric vehicles (EVs), so their condition-monitoring techniques are extensively studied. This study focuses on the application of the grey system theory to the parameters analysing and predicting behaviour during the discharge/charge cycles of the battery. First, Grey relation analysis is applied to study and analyse the relationship between capacity/SoC and various influencing factors. Second, the segment Grey prediction model is proposed in order to test and improve the accuracy of the capacity/SoC prediction. Finally, based on the ageing data from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Prognostics Data Repository, the effects of different Grey theory models, such as the GM(1,1), the Verhulst model and the segment Grey prediction model, are investigated. The results show that: (i) the GRA is efficient in figuring out the relationship between the capacity/SoC and various influencing factors; (ii) the segment Grey prediction model is an effective mode of prediction for EV batteries, because its accuracy is more reliable than other two Grey models; and (iii) the segment Grey prediction model is suitable for predicting the capacity/SoC of batteries under various loading conditions.
