Abstract

The article focuses on the establishment of family trusts in resolving and settling divorce cases. Topics discussed include role of trusts in protecting transferees from financial problems of former spouse, role of transfers in family trusts in generating income tax, and rules of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code (IRC) on transfer of property in trust. It further discusses the laws for fair market value of the trusts assets.
