Abstract

The $J/\psi$ and $\psi(2S)$ charmonium states, composed of $c\bar{c}$ quark pairs and known since the 1970s, are widely believed to serve as ideal probes to test quantum chromodynamics in high-energy hadronic interactions. However, there is not yet a complete understanding of the charmonium-production mechanism. Recent measurements of $J/\psi$ production as a function of event charged-particle multiplicity at the collision energies of both the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) show enhanced $J/\psi$ production yields with increasing multiplicity. One potential explanation for this type of dependence is multiparton interactions (MPI). We carry out the first measurements of self-normalized $J/\psi$ yields and the $\psi(2S)$ to $J/\psi$ ratio at both forward and backward rapidities as a function of self-normalized charged-particle multiplicity in $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV. In addition, detailed {\sc pythia} studies tuned to RHIC energies were performed to investigate the MPI impacts. We find that the PHENIX data at RHIC are consistent with recent LHC measurements and can only be described by {\sc pythia} calculations that include MPI effects. The forward and backward $\psi(2S)$ to $J/\psi$ ratio, which serves as a unique and powerful approach to study final-state effects on charmonium production, is found to be less dependent on the charged-particle multiplicity., Comment: 301 authors from 69 institutions, 8 pages, 3 figures. v1 is version submitted to Physical Review D Letters. 3. DM2RM: Dual-Mode Multimodal Ranking for Target Objects and Receptacles Based on Open-Vocabulary Instructions

Abstract

In this study, we aim to develop a domestic service robot (DSR) that, guided by open-vocabulary instructions, can carry everyday objects to the specified pieces of furniture. Few existing methods handle mobile manipulation tasks with open-vocabulary instructions in the image retrieval setting, and most do not identify both the target objects and the receptacles. We propose the Dual-Mode Multimodal Ranking model (DM2RM), which enables images of both the target objects and receptacles to be retrieved using a single model based on multimodal foundation models. We introduce a switching mechanism that leverages a mode token and phrase identification via a large language model to switch the embedding space based on the prediction target. To evaluate the DM2RM, we construct a novel dataset including real-world images collected from hundreds of building-scale environments and crowd-sourced instructions with referring expressions. The evaluation results show that the proposed DM2RM outperforms previous approaches in terms of standard metrics in image retrieval settings. Furthermore, we demonstrate the application of the DM2RM on a standardized real-world DSR platform including fetch-and-carry actions, where it achieves a task success rate of 82% despite the zero-shot transfer setting. 4. Measuring 60-pc-scale Star Formation Rate of the Nearby Seyfert Galaxy NGC 1068 with ALMA, HST, VLT/MUSE, and VLA

Abstract

Star formation rate (SFR) is a fundamental parameter for describing galaxies and inferring their evolutionary course. HII regions yield the best measure of instantaneous SFR in galaxies, although the derived SFR can have large uncertainties depending on tracers and assumptions. We present an SFR calibration for the entire molecular gas disk of the nearby Seyfert galaxy NGC 1068, based on our new high-sensitivity ALMA 100GHz continuum data at 55pc (=0."8) resolution in combination with the HST Pa{\alpha} line data. In this calibration, we account for the spatial variations of dust extinction, electron temperature of HII regions, AGN contamination, and diffuse ionized gas (DIG) based on publicly available multi-wavelength data. Especially, given the extended nature and the possible non-negligible contribution to the total SFR, a careful consideration of DIG is essential. With a cross-calibration between two corrected ionized gas tracers (free-free continuum&Pa{\alpha}), the total SFR of the NGC 1068 disk is estimated to be 3.2\pm0.5 Msol/yr, one-third of the SFR without accounting for DIG (9.1\pm1.4 Msol/yr). We confirmed high SFR around the southern bar-end and the corotation radius, which is consistent with the previous SFR measurements. In addition, our total SFR exceeds the total SFR based on 8{\mu}m dust emission by a factor of 1.5. We attribute this discrepancy to the differences in the young stars at different stages of evolution traced by each tracer and their respective timescales. Abstract

High-momentum two-particle correlations are a useful tool for studying jet-quenching effects in the quark-gluon plasma. Angular correlations between neutral-pion triggers and charged hadrons with transverse momenta in the range 4--12~GeV/$c$ and 0.5--7~GeV/$c$, respectively, have been measured by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 for Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$~GeV. Suppression is observed in the yield of high-momentum jet fragments opposite the trigger particle, which indicates jet suppression stemming from in-medium partonic energy loss, while enhancement is observed for low-momentum particles. The ratio and differences between the yield in Au$+$Au collisions and $p$$+$$p$ collisions, $I_{AA}$ and $\Delta_{AA}$, as a function of the trigger-hadron azimuthal separation, $\Delta\phi$, are measured for the first time at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. 6. The evolution of supermassive blackhole mass--bulge mass relation by a semi-analytic model, $\nu^2$GC

Abstract

We have investigated the redshift evolution of the relationship between supermassive black hole (SMBH) mass and host bulge mass using a semi-analytical galaxy formation model $\nu^2$GC. Our model reproduces the relation in the local universe well. We find that, at high redshift ($z \gtrsim 3$), two sequences appear in the SMBH mass--bulge mass plane. The emergence of these two sequences can be attributed to the primary triggers of the growth of the SMBHs and bulges: galaxy mergers and disc instabilities. The growth of SMBHs and bulges as a result of galaxy mergers is responsible for giving rise to the high-mass sequence, in which SMBHs are more massive for a given host bulge mass than in the low-mas sequence. Conversely, disc instabilities are accountable for the emergence of the low-mass sequence. At lower redshifts, galaxy mergers tend to become increasingly deficient in gas, resulting in a preferential increase of bulge mass without a corresponding growth in SMBH mass. This has the effect of causing galaxies in the upper sequence to shift towards the lower one on the SMBH mass-bulge mass plane. The galaxies that undergo dry mergers serve to bridge the gap between the two sequences, eventually leading to convergence into a single relation known in the local universe. Abstract

The observation of time-reversal symmetry breaking and large residual density of states in tetragonal FeSe$_{1-x}$S$_x$ suggests a novel type of ultranodal superconducting state with Bogoliubov Fermi surfaces (BFSs). Although such BFSs in centrosymmetric superconductors are expected to be topologically protected, the impurity effect of this exotic superconducting state remains elusive experimentally. Here, we investigate the impact of controlled defects introduced by electron irradiation on the superconducting state of tetragonal FeSe$_{1-x}$S$_x$ ($0.18\le x\le 0.25$). The temperature dependence of magnetic penetration depth is initially consistent with a model with BFSs in the pristine sample. After irradiation, we observe a nonmonotonic evolution of low-energy excitations with impurity concentrations. This nonmonotonic change indicates a transition from nodal to nodeless, culminating in gapless with Andreev bound states, reminiscent of the nodal $s_\pm$ case. This points to the accidental nature of the possible BFSs in tetragonal FeSe$_{1-x}$S$_x$, which are susceptible to disruption by the disorder., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

The PHENIX experiment has performed a systematic study of identified charged-hadron ($\pi^\pm$, $K^\pm$, $p$, $\bar{p}$) production at midrapidity in $p$$+$Al, $^3$He$+$Au, Cu$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV and U$+$U collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=193$ GeV. Identified charged-hadron invariant transverse-momentum ($p_T$) and transverse-mass ($m_T$) spectra are presented and interpreted in terms of radially expanding thermalized systems. The particle ratios of $K/\pi$ and $p/\pi$ have been measured in different centrality ranges of large (Cu$+$Au, U$+$U) and small ($p$$+$Al, $^3$He$+$Au) collision systems. The values of $K/\pi$ ratios measured in all considered collision systems were found to be consistent with those measured in $p$$+$$p$ collisions. However the values of $p/\pi$ ratios measured in large collision systems reach the values of $\approx0.6$, which is $\approx2$ times larger than in $p$$+$$p$ collisions. These results can be qualitatively understood in terms of the baryon enhancement expected from hadronization by recombination. Identified charged-hadron nuclear-modification factors ($R_{AB}$) are also presented. Enhancement of proton $R_{AB}$ values over meson $R_{AB}$ values was observed in central $^3$He$+$Au, Cu$+$Au, and U$+$U collisions. The proton $R_{AB}$ values measured in $p$$+$Al collision system were found to be consistent with $R_{AB}$ values of $\phi$, $\pi^\pm$, $K^\pm$, and $\pi^0$ mesons, which may indicate that the size of the system produced in $p$$+$Al collisions is too small for recombination to cause a noticeable increase in proton production., Comment: 480 authors from 78 institutions, 18 pages, 6 tables, 16 figures. v2 is version accepted for publication in Physical Review C. 12. Which Leads to More Effective Learning in Intelligent Tutoring Software: Effort-based or Performance-based Feedback?

Abstract

Feedback, when used successfully, supports student learning and motivation. Although various types of feedback are used in the actual classroom, however, most interactive learning systems provide feedback that addresses learner performance only (e.g., correctness feedback). We developed two versions of an Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) for learning ratio calculations using mathematics number lines that differed in the type of feedback it provides: effort-based and performance-based feedback. We conducted a school-based experiment with 5th graders in Japan to test the effectiveness of the two types of feedback on student learning and motivation. The results indicate a trend that performance-based feedback in the ITS had a positive impact on student learning but no difference was found on learner motivation. This study adds new knowledge of what types of adaptive feedback are effective for student learning in mathematics.

Abstract

Domestic service robots offer a solution to the increasing demand for daily care and support. A human-in-the-loop approach that combines automation and operator intervention is considered to be a realistic approach to their use in society. Therefore, we focus on the task of retrieving target objects from open-vocabulary user instructions in a human-in-the-loop setting, which we define as the learning-to-rank physical objects (LTRPO) task. For example, given the instruction "Please go to the dining room which has a round table. Pick up the bottle on it," the model is required to output a ranked list of target objects that the operator/user can select. In this paper, we propose MultiRankIt, which is a novel approach for the LTRPO task. MultiRankIt introduces the Crossmodal Noun Phrase Encoder to model the relationship between phrases that contain referring expressions and the target bounding box, and the Crossmodal Region Feature Encoder to model the relationship between the target object and multiple images of its surrounding contextual environment. Additionally, we built a new dataset for the LTRPO task that consists of instructions with complex referring expressions accompanied by real indoor environmental images that feature various target objects. We validated our model on the dataset and it outperformed the baseline method in terms of the mean reciprocal rank and recall@k. Furthermore, we conducted physical experiments in a setting where a domestic service robot retrieved everyday objects in a standardized domestic environment, based on users' instruction in a human--in--the--loop setting. Abstract

This paper focuses on the DialFRED task, which is the task of embodied instruction following in a setting where an agent can actively ask questions about the task. To address this task, we propose DialMAT. DialMAT introduces Moment-based Adversarial Training, which incorporates adversarial perturbations into the latent space of language, image, and action. Additionally, it introduces a crossmodal parallel feature extraction mechanism that applies foundation models to both language and image. We evaluated our model using a dataset constructed from the DialFRED dataset and demonstrated superior performance compared to the baseline method in terms of success rate and path weighted success rate. 15. Classification of Lifshitz invariant in multiband superconductors: an application to Leggett modes in the linear response regime in Kagome lattice models

Abstract

Multiband superconductors are sources of rich physics arising from multiple order parameters, which show unique collective dynamics including Leggett mode as relative phase oscillations. Previously, it has been pointed out that the Leggett mode can be optically excited in the linear response regime, as demonstrated in a one-dimensional model for multiband superconductors[T. Kamatani, et al., Phys. Rev. B 105, 094520 (2022)]. Here we identify the linear coupling term in the Ginzburg-Landau free energy to be the so-called Lifshitz invariant, which takes a form of $\boldsymbol{d}\cdot\left(\Psi^{*}_{i}\nabla\Psi_{j} - \Psi_{j}\nabla\Psi^{*}_{i}\right)$, where $\boldsymbol{d}$ is a constant vector and $\Psi_{i}$ and $\Psi_{j}$ $(i\neq j)$ represent superconducting order parameters. We have classified all pairs of irreducible representations of order parameters in the crystallographic point groups that allow for the existence of the Lifshitz invariant. We emphasize that the Lifshitz invariant can appear even in systems with inversion symmetry. The results are applied to a model of $s$-wave superconductors on a Kagome lattice with various bond orders, for which in some cases we confirm that the Leggett mode appears as a resonance peak in a linear optical conductivity spectrum based on microscopic calculations. Abstract

Studies of material returned from Cb asteroid Ryugu have revealed considerable mineralogical and chemical heterogeneity, stemming primarily from brecciation and aqueous alteration. Isotopic anomalies could have also been affected by delivery of exogenous clasts and aqueous mobilization of soluble elements. Here, we show that isotopic anomalies for mildly soluble Cr are highly variable in Ryugu and CI chondrites, whereas those of Ti are relatively uniform. This variation in Cr isotope ratios is most likely due to physicochemical fractionation between 54Cr-rich presolar nanoparticles and Cr-bearing secondary minerals at the millimeter-scale in the bulk samples, likely due to extensive aqueous alteration in their parent bodies that occurred [Formula: see text] after Solar System birth. In contrast, Ti isotopes were marginally affected by this process. Our results show that isotopic heterogeneities in asteroids are not all nebular or accretionary in nature but can also reflect element redistribution by water.

Abstract

PHENIX presents a simultaneous measurement of the production of direct $\gamma$ and $\pi^0$ in $d$$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV over a $p_T$ range of 7.5 to 18 GeV/$c$ for different event samples selected by event activity, i.e. charged-particle multiplicity detected at forward rapidity. Direct-photon yields are used to empirically estimate the contribution of hard-scattering processes in the different event samples. Using this estimate, the average nuclear-modification factor $R_{d\rm Au,EXP}^{\gamma^{\rm dir}}$ is $0.925{\pm}0.023({\rm stat}){\pm}0.15^{\rm (scale)}$, consistent with unity for minimum-bias (MB) $d$$+$Au events. For event classes with moderate event activity, $R_{d\rm Au,EXP}^{\gamma^{\rm dir}}$ is consistent with the MB value within 5\% uncertainty. These results confirm that the previously observed enhancement of high-$p_T$ $\pi^0$ production found in small-system collisions with low event activity is a result of a bias in interpreting event activity within the Glauber framework. In contrast, for the top 5\% of events with the highest event activity, $R_{d\rm Au,EXP}^{\gamma^{\rm dir}}$ is suppressed by 20\% relative to the MB value with a significance of $4.5\sigma$, which may be due to final-state effects., Comment: 279 authors from 69 institutions, 8 pages, 3 figures, v1 is version submitted to Physical Review Letters. Abstract

Reported here are transverse single-spin asymmetries ($A_{N}$) in the production of charged hadrons as a function of transverse momentum ($p_T$) and Feynman-$x$ ($x_F$) in polarized $p^{\uparrow}$+$p$, $p^{\uparrow}$+Al, and $p^{\uparrow}$+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV. The measurements have been performed at forward and backward rapidity ($1.4<|\eta|<2.4$) over the range of $1.50$) in $p^{\uparrow}$+$p$ collisions, whereas the $p^{\uparrow}$+Al and $p^{\uparrow}$+Au results show smaller asymmetries. Abstract

Presented are the first measurements of the transverse single-spin asymmetries ($A_N$) for neutral pions and eta mesons in $p$+Au and $p$+Al collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV in the pseudorapidity range $|\eta|<$0.35 with the PHENIX detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The asymmetries are consistent with zero, similar to those for midrapidity neutral pions and eta mesons produced in $p$+$p$ collisions. Abstract

Abstract A simple method for determining the anaerobic threshold in patients with heart failure (HF) is needed. This prospective clinical trial (LacS-001) aimed to investigate the safety of a sweat lactate-monitoring sensor and the correlation between lactate threshold in sweat (sLT) and ventilatory threshold (VT). To this end, we recruited 50 patients with HF and New York Heart Association functional classification I–II (mean age: 63.5 years, interquartile range: 58.0–72.0). Incremental exercise tests were conducted while monitoring sweat lactate levels using our sensor. sLT was defined as the first steep increase in lactate levels from baseline. Primary outcome measures were a correlation coefficient of ≥ 0.6 between sLT and VT, similarities as assessed by the Bland–Altman analysis, and standard deviation of the difference within 15 W. A correlation coefficient of 0.651 (95% confidence interval, 0.391–0.815) was achieved in 32/50 cases. The difference between sLT and VT was −4.9 ± 15.0 W. No comparative error was noted in the Bland–Altman plot. No device-related adverse events were reported among the registered patients. Our sweat lactate sensor is safe and accurate for detecting VT in patients with HF in clinical settings, thereby offering valuable additional information for treatment.

Abstract In the field of cardiac electrophysiology, there is a universal desire: the discovery of a flawless diagnostic maneuver for supraventricular tachycardias (SVTs). This is not merely a wish but a shared odyssey. To improve diagnostic accuracy and achieve sufficient sensitivity and specificity, numerous diagnostic maneuvers have been proposed. However, each has its limitations and prompts a search for new diagnostic techniques. This continuous cycle of discovery and refinement, which we titled “SVT Quest” is reviewed in chronological sequence. This adventure in diagnosing narrow QRS tachycardia unfolds in 3 steps: Step 1 involves differentiating atrial tachycardia from other SVTs based on the observations such as V‐A‐V or V‐A‐A‐V response, ΔAA interval, VA linking, the last entrainment sequence, and response to the atrial extrastimulus. Step 2 focuses on differentiating orthodromic reciprocating tachycardia from atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia based on the observations such as tachycardia reset upon the premature ventricular contraction during His refractoriness, uncorrected/corrected postpacing interval, differential ventricular entrainment, orthodromic His capture, transition zone analysis, and total pacing prematurity. Step 3 characterizes the concealed nodoventricular/nodofascicular pathway and His‐ventricular pathway‐related tachycardia based on observations such as V‐V‐A response, ΔatrioHis interval, and paradoxical reset phenomenon. There is no single diagnostic maneuver that fits all scenarios. Therefore, the ability to apply multiple maneuvers in a case allows the operator to accumulate evidence to make a likely diagnosis. Let's embark on this adventure!

Abstract

Abstract Background Highly transmissible viruses including SARS-CoV-2 frequently accumulate novel mutations that are detected via high-throughput sequencing. However, there is a need to develop an alternative rapid and non-expensive approach. Here we developed a novel multiplex DNA detection method Intelli-OVI for analysing existing and novel mutations of SARS-CoV-2. Methods We have developed Intelli-OVI that includes the micro-disc-based method IntelliPlex and computational algorithms of objective variant identification (OVI). More than 250 SARS-CoV-2 positive samples including wastewater ones were analysed to verify the efficiency of the method. Results IntelliPlex uses micro-discs printed with a unique pictorial pattern as a labelling conjugate for DNA probes, and OVI allows simultaneous identification of several variants using multidimensional data obtained by the IntelliPlex method. Importantly, de novo mutations can be identified by decreased signals, which indicates that there is an emergence of de novo variant virus as well as prompts the need to design additional primers and probes. We have upgraded probe panel according to the emergence of new variants and demonstrated that Intelli-OVI efficiently identified more than 20 different SARS-CoV-2 variants by using 35 different probes simultaneously. Conclusions Intelli-OVI can be upgraded to keep up with rapidly evolving viruses as we showed in this study using SARS-CoV-2 as an example and may be suitable for other viruses but would need to be validated.

24. Potential of GSPT1 as a novel target for glioblastoma therapy

Abstract

Abstract Glioblastoma is the most common malignant brain tumor in adults, the survival rate of which has not significantly improved over the past three decades. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop novel treatment modalities. We previously reported that G1 to S phase transition 1 (GSPT1) depletion induces delayed cell cycle in primary astrocytes. Herein, we examined the potential of GSPT1 as a novel target for glioblastoma therapy. CC-885, a cereblon modulator that degrades GSPT1 by bridging GSPT1 to the CRL4 E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, was administered to nude mice with transplanted brain tumors of U87 glioblastoma cells. The survival period was significantly longer in CC-885 treated mice than in control mice. Furthermore, we generated GSPT1-knockout (KO) U87 cells and GSPT1-KO U87 cells with stable overexpression of FLAG-tagged GSPT1 (Rescued GSPT1-KO). Mice with transplanted GSPT1-KO U87 cells and Rescued GSPT1-KO U87 cells showed significantly longer and similar survival periods, respectively, as those with wild-type (WT) U87 cells. GSPT1-KO U87 cells showed enhanced apoptosis, detected by cleaved PARP1, compared to WT U87 cells. Brain tumors with transplantation of GSPT1-KO U87 cells also showed enhanced apoptosis compared to those with transplantation of WT and Rescued GSPT1-KO U87 cells. GSPT1 expression was confirmed in patients with glioblastoma. However, the clinical study using 87 glioblastoma samples showed that GSPT1 mRNA levels were not associated with overall survival. Taken together, we propose that GSPT1 is an essential protein for glioblastoma growth, but not its malignant characteristics, and that GSPT1 is a potential target for developing glioblastoma therapeutics.

25. Comparison between asymptotic and re-randomisation tests under non-proportional hazards in a randomised controlled trial using the minimisation method

Abstract Background Pocock-Simon’s minimisation method has been widely used to balance treatment assignments across prognostic factors in randomised controlled trials (RCTs). Previous studies focusing on the survival outcomes have demonstrated that the conservativeness of asymptotic tests without adjusting for stratification factors, as well as the inflated type I error rate of adjusted asymptotic tests conducted in a small sample of patients, can be relaxed using re-randomisation tests. Although several RCTs using minimisation have suggested the presence of non-proportional hazards (non-PH) effects, the application of re-randomisation tests has been limited to the log-rank test and Cox PH models, which may result in diminished statistical power when confronted with non-PH scenarios. To address this issue, we proposed two re-randomisation tests based on a maximum combination of weighted log-rank tests (MaxCombo test) and the difference in restricted mean survival time (dRMST) up to a fixed time point $$\tau$$ τ , both of which can be extended to adjust for randomisation stratification factors. Methods We compared the performance of asymptotic and re-randomisation tests using the MaxCombo test, dRMST, log-rank test, and Cox PH models, assuming various non-PH situations for RCTs using minimisation, with total sample sizes of 50, 100, and 500 at a 1:1 allocation ratio. We mainly considered null, and alternative scenarios featuring delayed, crossing, and diminishing treatment effects. Results Across all examined null scenarios, re-randomisation tests maintained the type I error rates at the nominal level. Conversely, unadjusted asymptotic tests indicated excessive conservatism, while adjusted asymptotic tests in both the Cox PH models and dRMST indicated inflated type I error rates for total sample sizes of 50. The stratified MaxCombo-based re-randomisation test consistently exhibited robust power across all examined scenarios. Conclusions The re-randomisation test is a useful alternative in non-PH situations for RCTs with minimisation using the stratified MaxCombo test, suggesting its robust power in various scenarios.

Abstract Some RNAs such as 28S rRNA, U1 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), and Y RNAs are known to be cleaved during apoptosis. The underlying mechanism, functions, and biological significance of RNA degradation in apoptosis remain elusive. Y RNAs are non-coding RNAs widely conserved from bacteria to mammals, and are major components of Ro ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complexes which contain the 60 kDa Ro protein (SS-A) and the 50 kDa La protein (SS-B). The autoantigenic Ro and La proteins were identified by autoantibodies present in the sera from patients with Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and Sjögren’s syndrome (SjS). We previously identified novel, functional small RNAs named AGO-taxis small RNAs (ASRs) that are specifically bound to Argonaute protein 1 (AGO1), which are processed from Y RNAs. Cell-free analysis combined with fractionation methods revealed that the apoptosis-specific biogenesis of ASRs or cleavage of Y RNA was induced by truncation of polypyrimidine tract-binding protein 1 (PTBP1), which is an endoribonuclease inhibitor of Y RNAs by caspase 3. Caspase 3-resistant PTBP1 mutant protected cleavage of Y RNAs in apoptosis induced by staurosporine. Furthermore, caspase 3-resistant PTBP1 mutant knock-in mice showed elevated cytokines, dysregulation of the germinal center formation compared to the wild-type mice at LPS stimulation, and high positivity of antinuclear antibody. Those results suggest that cleavage of Y RNAs or biogenesis of ASR during apoptosis has critical biological functions and their deregulation result in immune dysregulation and the formation of autoantibody, possibly leading to the development of autoimmune diseases.

In the present study, we investigated the factors, especially the duration of HD, associated with insomnia in HD patients.Patients and methods: A total of 138 patients undergoing HD were recruited, and the Japanese version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to assess the quality of sleep. Subjects with a total PSQI score up to 4 and those with a score of at least 5 were identified as normal subjects and subjects with insomnia, respectively. Additionally, we assessed restless legs syndrome, depression using the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale, and health-related quality of life (QOL) using the Short Form 8 Health Survey. We divided the subjects into two groups according to the median HD duration.Results: The prevalence rate of insomnia was 54.3% among all the subjects. Twenty-one subjects (15.2%) had depression, 26 (18.8%) had restless legs syndrome, and 75 (54.3%) had insomnia. The median HD duration was 4 years. The scores of components 1 and 4 of the PSQI, subjective sleep quality and habitual sleep efficiency, did not show a significant difference between the normal and insomnia groups. The score of component 7, daytime dysfunction, showed a significant difference between the short and long HD duration groups. In multiple regression analysis, the score of the Short Form 8 Health Survey showed a significant association with the PSQI score in the long HD duration group, but no variable showed a significant association in the short HD duration group.Conclusion: Patients with a longer duration of HD indicated that insomnia has an influence on their daily activities, with a significant association between insomnia and QOL. Greater attention should be paid to poor QOL and troubles in daily activities caused by insomnia in patients with a longer HD duration. Abstract

We study the long-term evolution of the Milky Way (MW) over cosmic time by modeling the star formation, cosmic rays, metallicity, stellar dynamics, outflows and inflows of the galactic system to obtain various insights into the galactic evolution. The mass accretion is modeled by the results of cosmological N-body simulations for the cold dark matter. We find that the star formation rate is about half the mass accretion rate of the disk, given the consistency between observed Galactic Diffuse X-ray Emissions (GDXEs) and possible conditions driving the Galactic wind. Our model simultaneously reproduces the quantities of star formation rate, cosmic rays, metals, and the rotation curve of the current MW. The most important predictions of the model are that there is an unidentified accretion flow with a possible number density of $\sim10^{-2}$ cm$^{-3}$ and the part of the GDXEs originates from a hot, diffuse plasma which is formed by consuming about 10 % of supernova explosion energy. The latter is the science case for future X-ray missions; XRISM, Athena, and so on. Abstract

Preliminary analyses of asteroid Ryugu samples show kinship to aqueously altered CI (Ivuna-type) chondrites, suggesting similar origins. We report identification of C-rich, particularly primitive clasts in Ryugu samples that contain preserved presolar silicate grains and exceptional abundances of presolar SiC and isotopically anomalous organic matter. The high presolar silicate abundance (104 ppm) indicates that the clast escaped extensive alteration. The 5 to 10 times higher abundances of presolar SiC (~235 ppm), N-rich organic matter, organics with N isotopic anomalies (1.2%), and organics with C isotopic anomalies (0.2%) in the primitive clasts compared to bulk Ryugu suggest that the clasts formed in a unique part of the protoplanetary disk enriched in presolar materials. These clasts likely represent previously unsampled outer solar system material that accreted onto Ryugu after aqueous alteration ceased, consistent with Ryugus rubble pile origin.
