Material and Methods: Cross-sectional study through analysis of police enquiries of homicide victims in the period from 2008 to 2011 recorded at the 2 nd Police Station in Campina Grande, Paraíba. Data analysis involved the construction of death rates by homicide in the city, by region and sex. Additionally, data concerning the homicide and the victim were analyzed. The database was developed using the SPSS software (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) version 18.0. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, means and standard deviations.
