Hot Jupiters might reside inside the Alfv\'en surface of their host star wind, where the stellar wind is dominated by magnetic energy. The implications of such a sub-Alfv\'enic environment for atmospheric escape are not fully understood. Here, we employ 3-D radiation-magnetohydrodynamic simulations and Lyman-$\alpha$ transit calculations to investigate atmospheric escape properties of magnetised hot Jupiters. By varying the planetary magnetic field strength ($B_p$) and obliquity, we find that the structure of the outflowing atmosphere transitions from a magnetically unconfined regime, where a tail of material streams from the nightside of the planet, to a magnetically confined regime, where material escapes through the polar regions. Notably, we find an increase in the planet escape rate with $B_p$ in both regimes, with a local decrease when the planet transitions from the unconfined to the confined regime. Contrary to super-Alfv\'enic interactions, which predicted two polar outflows from the planet, our sub-Alfv\'enic models show only one significant polar outflow. In the opposing pole, the planetary field lines connect to the star. Finally, our synthetic Ly-$\alpha$ transits show that both the red-wing and blue-wing absorptions increase with $B_p$. Furthermore, there is a degeneracy between $B_p$ and the stellar wind mass-loss rate when considering absorption of individual Lyman-$\alpha$ wings. This degeneracy can be broken by considering the ratio between the blue-wing and the red-wing absorptions, as stronger stellar winds result in higher blue-to-red absorption ratios. During nursing studies, it is crucial to develop emotional skills for both academic success and quality patient care. Utilizing technologies like thermography can be instrumental in nursing education to assess and enhance these skills. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of thermography in monitoring and improving the emotional skills of nursing students through a case study approach. The case study involved exposing a student to various emotional stimuli, including videos and music, and measuring facial temperature changes. These changes were recorded using a FLIR E6 camera across three phases: acclimatization, stimulus, and response. Environmental factors such as temperature and humidity were also recorded. Distinct thermal responses were observed for different emotions. For instance, during the acclimatization phase with video stimuli, forehead temperatures varied between positive emotions (joy: 34.5\textdegree C to 34.5\textdegree C) and negative emotions (anger: 36.1\textdegree C to 35.1\textdegree C). However, there was a uniform change in temperature during both stimulus (joy: 34.7\textdegree C to 35.0\textdegree C, anger: 35.0\textdegree C to 35.0\textdegree C) and response phases (joy: 35.0\textdegree C to 35.0\textdegree C, anger: 34.8\textdegree C to 35.0\textdegree C). Music stimuli also induced varying thermal patterns (joy: 34.2\textdegree C to 33.9\textdegree C to 33.4\textdegree C, anger: 33.8\textdegree C to 33.4\textdegree C to 33.8\textdegree C).Thermography revealed consistent thermal patterns in response to emotional stimuli, with the exception of the nose area, suggesting its suitability as a non-invasive, quantifiable, and accessible method for emotional skill training in nursing education.

The aims: (i) analyze connectivity between subgroups of university students, (ii) assess which bridges of relational contacts are essential for connecting or disconnecting subgroups and (iii) to explore the similarities between the attributes of the subgroup nodes in relation to the pandemic context. During the COVID-19 pandemic, young university students have experienced significant changes in their relationships, especially in the halls of residence. Previous research has shown the importance of relationship structure in contagion processes. However, there is a lack of studies in the university setting, where students live closely together. The case study methodology was applied to carry out a descriptive study. The participation consisted of 43 university students living in the same hall of residence. Social network analysis has been applied for data analysis. Factions and Girvan Newman algorithms have been applied to detect the existing cohesive subgroups. The UCINET tool was used for the calculation of the SNA measure. A visualization of the global network will be carried out using Gephi software. After applying the Girvan-Newman and Factions, in both cases it was found that the best division into subgroups was the one that divided the network into 4 subgroups. There is high degree of cohesion within the subgroups and a low cohesion between them. The relationship between subgroup membership and gender was significant. The degree of COVID-19 infection is related to the degree of clustering between the students. College students form subgroups in their residence. Social network analysis facilitates an understanding of structural behavior during the pandemic. The study provides evidence on the importance of gender, race and the building where they live in creating network structures that favor, or not, contagion during a pandemic.

New interactive physical-digital play technologies are shaping the way children plan. These technologies refer to digital play technologies that engage children in analogue forms of behaviour, either alone or with others. Current interactive physical-digital play technologies include robots, digital agents, mixed or augmented reality devices, and smart-eye based gaming. Little is known, however, about the ways in which these technologies could promote or damage child development. This systematic review was aimed at understanding if and how these physical-digital play technologies promoted developmentally relevant behaviour in typically developing 0 to 12 year-olds. Psychology, Education, and Computer Science databases were searched producing 635 paper. A total of 31 papers met the inclusion criteria, of which 17 were of high enough quality to be included for synthesis. Results indicate that these new interactive play technologies could have a positive effect on children's developmentally relevant behaviour. The review indicated specific ways in which different behaviour were promoted. Providing information about own performance promoted self-monitoring. Slowing interactivity, play interdependency, and joint object accessibility promoted collaboration. Offering delimited choices promoted decision making. Problem solving and physical activity were promoted by requiring children to engage in them to keep playing. Four principles underpinned the ways in which physical digital play technologies afforded child behaviour. A Hall magnetometer with variable sensitivity is constructed to measure the magnetic properties of magnetic nanoparticles manufactured by different methods. This novel magnetometer can also be used to measure bulk materials and samples in liquids. The magnetometer is constructed with two commercial Hall-effect sensors in an acrylic structure, which serves as the support for a micrometer and the circuit board with the sensors. For operation, the magnetometer it acquires a complete magnetization curve in a few minutes. If has a magnetic moment sensitivity of 1.3*10-9 Am2 to sensitivity of 493 mV/mT, the sensitivity can be adjustable in the range of 10 to 493 mV/mT. Its performance is tested with magnetic nanoparticles. As an application example, we estimate the mean diameter of the nanoparticles using the magnetic curves. The results are compared with those obtained by other techniques, such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and dynamic light scattering (DLS). The magnetization results are also compared with those obtained by independent commercial magnetometers, which reveals errors of approximately 0.31 Am2/kg (i.e., 0.6%) in the saturation region., Comment: 20 pages, 8 figures and 2 tables. In this paper we present an algorithm, called conauto-2.0, that can efficiently compute a set of generators of the automorphism group of a graph, and test whether two graphs are isomorphic, finding an isomorphism if they are. This algorithm uses the basic individualization/refinement technique, and is an improved version of the algorithm conauto, which has been shown to be very fast for random graphs and several families of hard graphs. In this paper, it is proved that, under some circumstances, it is not only possible to prune the search space (using already found generators of the automorphism group), but also to infer new generators without the need of explicitly finding an automorphism of the graph. This result is especially suited for graphs with regularly connected components, and can be applied in any isomorphism testing and canonical labeling algorithm (that use the individualization/refinement technique) to significantly improve its performance. Additionally, a dynamic target cell selection function is used to adapt to different graphs. The resulting algorithm preserves all the nice features of conauto, but reduces the time for testing graphs with regularly connected components and other hard graph families. We run extensive experiments, which show that the most popular algorithms (namely, nauty, bliss, Traces, and saucy) are slower than conauto-2.0, among others, for the graph families based on components.

The Graph Isomorphism problem has both theoretical and practical interest. In this paper we present an algorithm, called conauto-1.2, that efficiently tests whether two graphs are isomorphic, and finds an isomorphism if they are. This algorithm is an improved version of the algorithm conauto, which has been shown to be very fast for random graphs and several families of hard graphs. In this paper we establish a new theorem that allows, at very low cost, the easy discovery of many automorphisms. This result is especially suited for graphs with regularly connected components, and can be applied in any isomorphism testing and canonical labeling algorithm to drastically improve its performance. In particular, algorithm conauto-1.2 is obtained by the application of this result to conauto. The resulting algorithm preserves all the nice features of conauto, but drastically improves the testing of graphs with regularly connected components. We run extensive experiments, which show that the most popular algorithms (namely, nauty and bliss) can not compete with conauto-1.2 for these graph families.

Magnetic and NMR relaxivity properties of {\gamma}-Fe2O3 nanoparticles embedded into the walls of polyelectrolyte multilayer capsules and freely dispersed in a sodium borate buffer solution have been investigated. The different geometric distribution of both configurations provides the opportunity to study the relationship of water accessibility and magnetic properties of particles on the NMR relaxivity. Changes in their blocking temperature and average dipolar field were modeled as a function of packing fraction in the ensemble of free and entrapped nanoparticles. For free nanoparticles with relatively low concentration, relaxivity values increase with packing fraction according to an increase in the dipolar field and larger water accessibility. However for embedded NPs in the capsule wall, packing fractions should be limited to optimise the efficiency of this system as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agent.

FePt/Fe3O4 nanoparticles can be used as building blocks to obtain, upon thermal annealing, magnetic nanocomposites with combined magnetic properties. Although the pre- and post-annealed samples are usually well characterized, a detailed investigation during annealing is necessary to reveal the role of intermediate processes to produce a desirable composite. We present an alternative method using in situ XANES to investigate the thermal evolution of oleic acid and oleylamine coated Pt-rich FePt/Fe3O4 heterodimers. As the temperature increases, a progressive reduction of Fe3O4 to FeO occurs helped by the thermolysis of the surfactants; while above 550 K Fe3Pt starts to be formed. At 840 K an abrupt increase of FeO further drives the phase transformation to stabilize the iron platinum soft phase. Thus, the Fe3O4 reduction acts as catalyst that promotes the Fe and Pt interdiffusion between the Pt-rich FePt and Fe3O4/FeO to form Fe3Pt instead of exchange coupled FePt/Fe3O4 with hard magnetic properties. In addition, the role of the interface of the heterodimer ends is discussed. The pre- and post-annealed samples were also characterized by TEM, XRD, EXAFS, magnetometry and M\"ossbauer spectroscopy.

In this work, the structural and magnetic properties of the gold-coated FePt nanoparticles synthesized from high-temperature solution phase are presented. The amount of gold was optimized to obtain most of the FePt particles coated. The particle diameter increases from 4 to 10 nm as observed by TEM. The magnetic properties are largely affected by the coating. At low temperature, the coercive field Hc of the coated nanoparticles decreases about three times respect to the uncoated and the blocking temperature reduces to the half. In this work we present the magnetic properties of gold coated FePt nanoparticles and the study of stable aqueous dispersions of FePt@Au and FePt synthesized after ligand exchange with mercaptoundecanoic acid. The particle size determined from TEM micrographs goes from 4 nm for the uncoated nanoparticles to a maximum of 10 nm for the gold coated ones indicating that the thickness of the shell ranges from 1 to 3 nm. The magnetic characterization consists in hysteresis cycles at 10 and 300 K. The results show that, at low field and room temperature, the magnetic behavior of uncoated and coated nanoparticles are surprisingly quite similar. Since the gold coated nanoparticles keep the magnetic properties of FePt and the presence of gold improves the functionalization of nanoparticles, the system is suitable for biological application. Mercaptoundecanoic ligand transfer was used to render water stable nanoparticles in a wide pH range. Transmission electron microscopy and dynamic light scattering results show the nanoparticles slightly agglomerate after ligand exchange. Gold nanoparticles have been synthesized inside ethosomes, vesicles composed of phospholipid, ethanol and water, which could be very efficient not only in delivery probes to the skin but also as diagnostic and therapeutic multimodal agents. High efficiency encapsulation of gold nanoparticles is achieved by a simple strategy: the nanoparticles synthesis occurs simultaneously with the ethosomes formation, in the absence of any undesirable reducing agents. A three-dimensional reconstruction of a gold-embedded ethosome generated by cryoelectron tomography reveals that the gold particle is localized inside the lipid bilayer, leaving the ethosome surface and core free for further functionalization. The resulting gold nanoparticles are homogeneous in size and shape and, depending on synthesis temperature, the size ranges from 10 to 20 nm, as revealed by TEM. The ethosome-nanoparticles hybrids size has been investigated by means of dynamic light scattering and has been found to vary with temperature and gold salt concentration from 700 to 400 nm. The effect of a high frequency alternating magnetic field on HeLa tumour cells incubated with ferromagnetic nanoparticles of manganese oxide perovskite La0.56(SrCa)0.22MnO3 have been studied. The particles were subjected to a size selection process and coated with silica to improve their biocompatibility. The control assays made with HeLa tumour cells showed that cell survival and growth rate were not affected by the particle internalization in cells, or by the electromagnetic field on cells without nanoparticles. However, the application of an alternating electromagnetic field to cells incubated with this silica coated manganese oxide induced a significant cellular damage that finally lead to cell death by an apoptotic mechanism. We present a study on the magnetic properties of naked and silica-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles with sizes between 5 and 110 nm. Their efficiency as heating agents was assessed through specific power absorption (SPA) measurements as a function of particle size and shape. The results show a strong dependence of the SPA with the particle size, with a maximum around 30 nm, as expected for a Neel relaxation mechanism in single-domain particles. The SiO2 shell thickness was found to play an important role in the SPA mechanism by hindering the heat outflow, thus decreasing the heating efficiency. It is concluded that a compromise between good heating efficiency and surface functionality for biomedical purposes can be attained by making the SiO2 functional coating as thin as possible., Comment: 15 pages, 7 figures, 2 tables

We present an ab initio study of the relaxations introduced in TiO2 when a Cd impurity substitutes a Ti atom and the experimental test of this calculation by a perturbed-angular-correlation (PAC) measurement of the orientation of the electric-field gradient (EFG) tensor at the Cd site. The ab-initio calculation predicts strong anisotropic relaxations of the nearest oxygen neighbors of the impurity and a change of the orientation of the largest EFG tensor component, V33, from the [001] to the [110] direction upon substitution of a Ti atom by a Cd impurity. The last prediction is confirmed by the PAC experiment that shows that V33 at the Cd site is parallel to either the [110] or the [1\bar{1}0] crystal axis., Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures. Accepted in PRL
