RATIONALE: Research studies typically quantify acute respiratory exacerbation episodes (AECOPD) among people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) based on self-report elicited by survey questionnaire. However, AECOPD quantification by self-report could be inaccurate, potentially rendering it an imprecise tool for identification of those with exacerbation tendency. OBJECTIVE: Determine the agreement between self-reported and health records-documented quantification of AECOPD and their association with airway inflammation. METHODS: We administered a questionnaire to elicit the incidence and severity of respiratory exacerbations in the three years preceding the survey among current or former heavy smokers with or without diagnosis of COPD. We then examined electronic health records (EHR) of those with COPD and those without (tobacco-exposed persons with preserved spirometry or TEPS) to determine whether the documentation of the three-year incidence of moderate to very severe respiratory exacerbations was consistent with self-report using Kappa Interrater statistic. A subgroup of participants also underwent bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) to quantify their airway inflammatory cells. We further used multivariable regressions analysis to estimate the association between respiratory exacerbations and BAL inflammatory cell composition with adjustment for covariates including age, sex, height, weight, smoking status (current versus former) and burden (pack-years). RESULTS: Overall, a total of 511 participants completed the questionnaire, from whom 487 had EHR available for review. Among the 222 participants with COPD (70 ± 7 years-old; 96% male; 70 ± 38 pack-years smoking; 42% current smoking), 57 (26%) reported having any moderate to very severe AECOPD (m/s-AECOPD) while 66 (30%) had EHR documentation of m/s-AECOPD. However, 42% of those with EHR-identified m/s-AECOPD had none by self-report, and 33% of those who reported m/s-AECOPD had none by EHR, suggesting only moderate agreement (Cohens Kappa = 0.47 ± 0.07; P

BACKGROUND: Hope is correlated with quality of life and overall survivorship among patients with cancer. We aimed to identify sociodemographic and clinical determinants of hope among patients with gastrointestinal (GI) cancer. METHODS: Patients with GI cancer seen in radiation oncology between 10/2022 and 6/2023 were surveyed with the Adult Hope Scale (AHS) questionnaire, which assesses hope based on goal-setting and goal-striving beliefs. Linear regression and Pearsons/Spearmans correlation coefficients were used to evaluate associations between AHS scores and demographic or disease variables. RESULTS: One-hundred and forty-five (71.1% response rate) patients were included in the analysis. Most (75%) patients were symptomatic from disease, and Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) patients accounted for 30.3% of our cohort. Identifying as AAPI or needing an interpreter for clinic visits was significantly associated with lower AHS scores, and more AAPI patients required interpreter assistance compared to non-AAPI patients (P=0.04). Being divorced, unemployed, or female was also linked to less hope. No other differences in hope were found. CONCLUSIONS: Sociodemographic rather than prognostic clinical factors were predictive of hope among patients with GI cancer. Interventions to contextualize psychosocial risk factors have the potential to improve quality of life and oncologic outcomes.

Background: Detection of gastric cancer (GC) at early stages is an effective strategy for decreasing mortality. This study aimed to construct a prediction nomogram based on a questionnaire to assess the risk of developing GC. Methods: Our study comprised a total of 4379 participants (2326 participants from outpatient at Fengqing People's Hospital were considered for model development and internal validation, and 2053 participants from outpatients at the endoscopy center at the Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University were considered for independent external validation) and gastric mucosa status was determined by endoscopy and biopsies. The eligible participants in development cohort from Fengqing people's Hospital were randomly separated into a training cohort (n=1629, 70.0%) and an internal validation cohort (n=697, 30.0%). The relevant features were selected by a least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO), and the ensuing features were evaluated through multivariable logistic regression analysis. Subsequently, the variables were selected to construct a prediction nomogram. The discriminative ability and predictive accuracy of the nomogram were evaluated by the C-index and calibration plot, respectively. Decision curve analysis (DCA) curves were used for the assessment of clinical benefit of the model. This model was developed to estimate the risk of developing neoplastic lesions according to the "transparent reporting of a multivariable prediction model for individual prognosis or diagnosis" (TRIPOD) statement. Results: Six variables, including age, sex, alcohol consumption, cigarette smoking, education level, and Hp infection status, were independent risk factors for the development of neoplastic lesions. Thus, these variables were incorporated into the final nomogram. The AUC of the nomogram were 0.701, 0.657 and 0.699 in the training, internal validation, and external validation cohorts, respectively. The calibration curve showed that the nomogram was in good agreement with the observed outcomes. Compared to treatment of all patients or none, our nomogram showed a notably higher clinical benefit. Conclusion: This nomogram proved to be a convenient, cost-effective tool to effectively predict an individual's risk of developing neoplastic lesions, and it can act as a prescreening tool before gastroscopy. Introduction: Traits of borderline personality disorder are important for the determination of the prognosis of mental illnesses and in evaluating risks of negativity as well as impulsivity. But, there is a lack of information about the distribution characteristics of borderline personality disorder traits and symptoms within clinical groups. The goal of the current study was to predict borderline personality disorder based on childhood trauma, using experiential avoidance as a mediator. Methods: All male patients hospitalized in local psychiatric health centers with a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder comprised the statistical population of the current study. The number of 60 patients were selected by the purposeful sampling method. The questionnaire included the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), the Experiential Avoidance Questionnaire (AAQ-II), and the Borderline Personality Disorder Symptoms (BSL-23). Results and discussion: The results demonstrated that there is a considerable and positive relationship between childhood trauma and experiential avoidance (r = 0.711, p< 0.01). In the mediating model, childhood trauma had significant direct predictive effects on borderline personality disorder (β = 0.546, p< 0.01). Background: Research involves the systematic collection and analysis of data to enhance understanding of a particular phenomenon. Participation in medical research is crucial for advancing healthcare practices. However, there has been limited focus on understanding the factors that motivate medical students to engage in research. Additionally, in the era of e-learning, the easy accessibility of online resources has contributed to a widespread 'copy-paste culture' among digital-native students, which is recognized in academia as plagiarism. Existing studies suggest that a contributing factor to the increasing prevalence of plagiarism is students' limited understanding of this act. The purpose of this study was to assess medical students' attitudes toward research and plagiarism, and to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Attitudes Toward Research (ATR) and Attitudes Toward Plagiarism (ATP) questionnaires. Methods: This was a multicenter study conducted among medical undergraduate and postgraduate students attending the three medical universities who were involved in research. Students' attitudes toward research and plagiarism were assessed using the ATR and ATP questionnaires. The research instruments underwent translation and cultural adaptation in accordance with internationally accepted methodology. The psychometric properties of the ATR and ATP, including validity and reliability, were assessed. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test the model's fit to the data. Results: The ATR and ATP questionnaires were completed by 793 medical students who were involved in research (647 undergraduates and 146 PhD students). Cronbach's alpha coefficients of 0.917 and 0.822 indicated excellent and good scale reliability for the ATR and ATP questionnaires, respectively. The five-and three- factor structures of ATR and ATP have been validated with maximum likelihood confirmatory analysis, and the results demonstrated an adequate level of model fit (TLI = 0.930, CFI = 0.942 and TLI = 0.924, CFI = 0.943, respectively). Medical students showed a high degree of positive attitudes toward research and favorable scores across all three domains of attitudes toward plagiarism. In multivariate regression models, age was found to be positively associated with favorable attitudes of research usefulness, positive attitudes, relevance to life subscales and total ATR scale (p < 0.001), while PhD study level was related to research anxiety (p < 0.001) and favorable attitudes across all three ATP domains (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Medical students who were involved in research showed a high degree of favorable attitudes toward research and plagiarism. Adjusting medical school curricula to include research courses would broaden the students' interest in scientific research and maximize their impact on the full preservation of research ethics and integrity. Promoting sustainability within university institutions entails conducting assessments to lay the groundwork for developing educational methodologies. This article presents the validation of a quantitative 36-item scale questionnaire to measure university students' perceptions towards sustainability. A total of 285 university students from different Spanish Universities participated in completing the questionnaire. The reliability and validity of the instrument were statistically assessed through Cronbach's alpha and confirmatory factor analysis. The questionnaire is of mixed character, combining 6-point Likert scale questions (ranging from "Strongly disagree" to "Strongly agree"), closed and open-ended questions. It was structured into six dimensions: knowledge, attitude, willingness to act, behavior, self-efficacy, and affective. The first five dimensions were confirmed by a confirmatory factor analysis, demonstrating a good fit level in the model (RMSEA = 0.043, CFI = 0.972, SRMR = 0.076, TLI = 0.970 and X2/df = 1.45), while the affective dimension was analyzed using a qualitative approach. Internal reliability, found using Cronbach's alpha, varies between 0.737 and 0.909. The results show that the instrument meets the validity and reliability criteria. Consequently, a valuable tool for academic utilization is suggested, offering a diagnostic and monitoring mechanism for evaluating sustainability perceptions, a topic that has recently garnered significant attention. Bycatch is the most significant threat to marine mammals globally. There are increasing requirements for national governments to fulfil their obligations to international agreements and treaties to assess fisheries catch and bycatch of non-target species. Questionnaire surveys represent one low-cost method to collect data to estimate fisheries catch and bycatch of vulnerable species including marine mammals. Questionnaire surveys can be particularly advantageous when bycatch is being investigated on large spatial and temporal scales, or in data-poor areas. This review aims to provide the necessary guidance required to design and conduct questionnaire studies investigating marine mammal bycatch. To do so, a systematic review was conducted of the methods used in 91 peer-reviewed or grey literature questionnaire studies from 1990 to 2023 investigating marine mammal bycatch. Literature was searched, screened, and analysed following the RepOrting standards for Systematic Evidence Syntheses (ROSES) protocols. A narrative synthesis and critical evaluation of the methods used were conducted and best practice recommendations are proposed. The recommendations include suggestions for how to generate representative samples, the steps that should be followed when designing a questionnaire instrument, how to collect reliable data, how to reduce under-reporting and interviewer bias, and how weighting or model-based bycatch estimation techniques can be used to reduce sampling bias. The review's guidance and best practice recommendations provide much-needed resources to develop and employ questionnaire studies that produce robust bycatch estimates for marine mammal populations where they are currently missing. Recommendations can be used by scientists and decision-makers across the globe. Whilst the focus of this review is on using questionnaires to investigate marine mammal bycatch, the information and recommendations will also be useful for those investigating bycatch of any other non-target species. Background: Cluster headache (CH) can lead to high disability and reduced quality of life (QoL). QoL should be assessed as an important outcome both in research and in clinical care. The 28-item Cluster Headache Quality of Life Scale (CH-QoL) is a valid self-report questionnaire to assess disease-specific QoL. A German version is lacking. This study aims to develop a German-language version and to determine its psychometric properties. Methods: The CH-QoL was translated into German by two headache experts and blindly back-translated by two professional translators. Additionally, the CH-QoL was tested for comprehensibility by nine persons with CH. In this multi-stage process, linguistic discrepancies were repeatedly discussed in an expert panel and appropriate modifications were conducted to optimize the translation. A cross-sectional online survey, comprising the CH-QoL and further self-report questionnaires such as the Cluster Headache Scales (CHS), yielded a sample of N = 106 persons with CH (53.8% female, M = 45.5 [SD = 11.8] years, 48.1% episodic CH, 51.9% chronic CH, 79.2% currently having recurring CH attacks). Results: Exploratory factor analysis revealed two clearly interpretable factors ("restriction of activities of daily living", and "impact on mood and interpersonal relationships"), which is in discrepancy to the four factors of the original English version. The model fit was good, with χ2(323) = 590.74, p <.001, RMSEA = 0.088, SRMR = 0.053, TLI = 0.857. Reliability was very good (McDonald's omega ω = 0.97, Subscale/Factor 1: ω = 0.96, Subscale/Factor 2: ω = 0.92). Correlational analyses (correlations with related questionnaires as well as with clinical parameters) confirmed convergent validity. Conclusions: Since the German version of the CH-QoL has very good psychometric properties, it is suitable for the assessment of disease-specific QoL in people with CH in German-speaking countries. Background: To effectively navigate the growing complexities and rapid changes in today's environment, universities must cultivate agility among their members. Over the past decade, students have encountered a variety of experiences related to E-Learning and the provision of educational services through electronic platforms. This study aimed to develop and validate a Questionnaire of Educational Agility (QEdu-Agility) to assess the capacity of educational institutions to adapt to these evolving demands. Method: This survey research aimed to validate QEdu-Agility. The statistical sample consisted of 372 students from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Iran, who had completed at least one academic year online during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022. Participants were selected using the Cochran formula. The initial questionnaire was based on three standard instruments related to organizational agility and adapted for educational contexts. After establishing face and content validity, the preliminary version was validated by a focus group of five educational experts, comprising 30 items across five dimensions: responsiveness, adequacy, flexibility, speed, and integrity, measured on a 5-point Likert scale. To confirm the construct validity, the questionnaire was randomly distributed to students via email. Data analysis was conducted using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) with varimax rotation, employing SPSS 24 software. Results: The content validity was confirmed with Content Validity Ratio (CVR) = 0.847, Content Validity Index (CVI) = 0.877, and the reliability with internal consistency was confirmed with R = 0.944. The CVI sub-components for relevance, clarity, and simplicity were obtained as 0.867, 0.853, and 0.847, respectively. According to EFA, the sample adequacy was confirmed with Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) index = 0.928 and significant Bartlett's test (P < 0.001). The total variance explained of the QEdu-Agility was about 60%. The first component of responsiveness accounted for 38.79% of the variance, followed by adequacy (7.99%), flexibility (5.17%), speed (3.91%), and integrity (3.57%) in subsequent components. Conclusion: The findings of the construct validity indicated a good fit of the QEdu-Agility. Given that the concept of agility is highly contingent on the context, this tool could be retested for measuring educational agility in educational organizations, such as universities. Background: Evidence-based practice (EBP) lowers costs, guarantees staying current with new technology and abilities, and enables the provision of high-quality care. Evidence-based practice (EBP) considered the foundation for safe patient care. Aim: is to validate and carry out the linguistic-cultural adaptation of the S-EBPQ for the Arabic language. Design: A methodological study design was used. Method: There were two primary stages: translation and validation. Three experts reviewed the contents during the translation and validation in order to ensure their relevancy. 15 nursing students conducted face validation to confirm the produced items' clarity and understandability. Reliability assessment was achieved by conducting a pilot study on 72 nursing students. Ethical approval was taken. For statistical analysis, SPSS software was used. The internal reliability of the questionnaire was evaluated using Cronbach's Alpha. The Pearson Correlation was used to test the relationship between the student's score on the questionnaire and their age and gender. Results: The Scale-Content Validity Index was 0.90; Cronbach's Alpha value was 0.963. Students in face validation phase confirmed that wording, clarity, and understandable language of the items were achieved. The Mean of students total score was 80.2 (SD = 21.5). Pearson test revealed that there was a weak positive correlation between students' scores and age R = 0.320 (p = 0.001). Also, it demonstrated that there was no correlation between the students' scores and the gender R =—0,028 (p = 0.817). Conclusion: The Arabic version of the S-EBPQ generally had a solid structure and it demonstrated high validity and reliability. The questionnaire could be used in future studies. Purpose: Visual impairment (VI) is still underdiagnosed in patients with acquired brain injury despite the large impact on daily life activities and rehabilitation. The aim of this study was to explore the current practice of identification of VI, management plans, referrals, and experienced barriers in Norwegian hospital settings. Materials and Methods: An online survey was sent out to leaders (n = 62) in hospitals treating patients with acquired brain injury. Data from 22 items covering routines, interdisciplinary collaboration, assessment tools, protocols, barriers, referral practice, and background information were collected. Results: Respondents (n = 108) comprised various professions from mainly acute or subacute settings. Visual field deficits, oculomotor dysfunction, and neglect were most commonly but not routinely assessed (53%–57%). Besides medical examination, patient interviews, and observations rather than standardized tests or questionnaires (82% vs.25%) were used. Few workplaces seemed to have interdisciplinary vision teams (13%). Barriers were patient characteristics such as cognitive and language impairment and limited resources. Below half (45%) felt competent in assessing VI or had attended courses on the topic (44%). Conclusions: The study highlights the need to implement standardized assessment, improve interdisciplinary collaboration, and facilitate training courses to enable hospital staff to assess VI after brain injury. Objective: To determine the effect of educational interventions on knowledge and approach of Allied Health Sciences Students regarding blood groups and blood donation. Methods: It was a cross-sectional study conducted at the department of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, University of Child Health Sciences, The Children's Hospital, Lahore from October 2022-January 2023. A self-designed questionnaire was used to assess the baseline knowledge of students followed by educational interventions in the form of small group discussions, video lectures and practical demonstrations. Post-interventions assessment was done using the same questionnaire 30 days later. Data obtained was analyzed using SPSS-23 software. A p-Value <0.05 was considered significant. The reliability of the questionnaire was checked after the pilot study by using the SPSS-23 software and calculated Cronbach's Alpha was 0.82. Results: Of the 99 participants, there were 13 males and 86 females with mean age of 21.41±1.478 years. Pre-interventions, majority participants had moderate knowledge (81.8%). Medical Lab technologists showed better baseline knowledge than the rest. Post-interventions, the level of knowledge among students increased to 94.9%. Pre-interventions, knowledge about blood groups and donation ranged from 14.1-79% and 25.5-77.8% correct responses respectively while post-interventions it went up to 92-100% for both aspects. The willingness to donate blood in future raised from 46.4% to 92.9%. Conclusions: Educational interventions were effective in improving the knowledge of Allied Health Sciences students about blood groups and blood donation. Background: Stigma is a relevant aspect of Parkinson's disease (PD). Specific stigma tools are needed to address the complex construct of stigma in PD comprehensively. Objective: To test the dimensionality and psychometric properties of the newly developed Parkinson's Disease Stigma Questionnaire (PDStigmaQuest). Methods: In this multi-center, cross-sectional study including PD patients and healthy controls, the dimensionality of the PDStigmaQuest was examined through exploratory factor analysis. Acceptability and psychometric properties were investigated. PDStigmaQuest scores of patients and healthy controls were compared. Results: In total, 201 PD patients and 101 healthy controls were included in the final analysis. Results suggested high data quality of the PDStigmaQuest (0.0001% missing data for patients). The exploratory factor analysis produced four factors: felt stigma, hiding, enacted stigma: rejection, and enacted stigma: patronization, explaining 47.9% of variance. An optional work domain for employed patients was included. Moderate floor effects and skewness, but no ceiling effects were found. Cronbach's alpha of 0.85 indicated high internal consistency. Calculated item-total correlations met standard criteria. Test-retest reliability was high (rs = 0.83). PDStigmaQuest scores correlated significantly with other stigma measures (rs = 0.56–0.69) and were significantly higher in patients than in healthy controls and higher in patients with depressive symptoms than in those without. Conclusions: The patient-reported 18-item PDStigmaQuest showed strong psychometric properties of validity and reliability. Our results suggest that the PDStigmaQuest can be used to assess and evaluate stigma comprehensively in PD, which will improve our understanding of the construct of PD stigma. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study aimed to translate the OHIP-EDENT into Hindi and assess its validity and reliability. The study included 150 participants whose demographic information was collected using the Modified Kuppuswamy Socio-economic Scale. The Oral Health Impact Profile in Edentulous (OHIP-EDENT) was translated into Hindi using the standard forward-backward method. Test-retest reliability was assessed using the Intra-class Correlation Coefficient (ICC) and internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) test and Bartlett's test of sphericity coefficient were used to conduct Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and confirm the Construct validity. To establish Convergent validity, the relationship between the global question and the OHIP-EDENT-H subscale scores was observed. The data was analyzed with a confidence level of 95 %, and statistical significance was interpreted as a p-value of less than 0.05. The Cronbach's alpha score for OHIP-EDENT-H was 1.00, indicating high internal consistency. The corrected item-total correlations ranged from 0.665 to 0.923, and the total ICC score was 0.763, demonstrating good reliability. The subscales' intra-class correlation coefficient values ranged from 0.968 to 0.997, indicating high reliability. However, items 4, 6, 13, 17, 18, and 19 had factor loadings below the acceptable threshold of 0.40 in the factor analysis. Additionally, the total and subscale scores of the OHIP-EDENT-H showed significant correlations with global question, with correlation coefficients ranging from 0.665 to 0.923. Purpose: Interest in the quality of life (QoL) of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has recently increased. Although measurement tools have been devised for IBD in general, there is no specific tool for measuring the QoL of patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). Therefore, we developed a QoL questionnaire specifically for patients with UC. Materials and Methods: The Korean Ulcerative Colitis-Specific Questionnaire (K-UCSQ) was developed through item generation, raw-scale construction, focus group meetings, and multi-center field tests. Two hundred patients with UC were recruited for a field test of the K-UCSQ, and subsequent responses to the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire (IBDQ) were also obtained. After performing factor analyses to ensure construct validity, the K-UCSQ was finalized as a four-domain, 28-item questionnaire. Subsequent analyses evaluated the reliability of the K-UCSQ in terms of Cronbach’s alpha, concurrent validity in comparison with the pre-established IBDQ, and predictive validity of the area under the ROC curve (AUC) for clinically relevant QoL outcomes. Results: A Cronbach’s alpha of 0.94 showed excellent reliability. Furthermore, correlation analyses demonstrated the concurrent validity of the K-UCSQ in comparison with the IBDQ. The K-UCSQ also showed high validity in predicting the perceived overall health (AUC of 0.812 vs. 0.797 using the IBDQ) and past 2-week QoL (AUC of 0.864 vs. 0.859 using the IBDQ). Conclusion: The newly developed K-UCSQ is concise, bathroom problem-emphasizing, and UC-specific, suggesting that it could be a valid and reliable UC-specific instrument for QoL measurement. Background: According to the Chinese Society of Anesthesiology, it is recommended that patients with difficult airways be documented and notified, which will provide healthcare professionals with a direct reference when managing airways. However, compliance with this initiative remains unclear. This study was conducted to investigate the current status and need for difficult airway notification at Plastic Surgery Hospital and to explore the factors contributing to noncompliance. Methods: Anesthesiologists, surgeons, and patients in Plastic Surgery Hospital were administered separate questionnaires regarding notification of difficult airway management. Participants were surveyed regarding their attitudes and current practices regarding difficult airway notification. In addition, questions were asked regarding the barriers that contribute to noncompliance. Results: A total of 632 valid responses were obtained and analyzed, giving a response rate of 99.21%. 399 patients (89.46%) felt it was very important for anesthesiologists to inform them about their difficult airway, and 91.03% felt it was very important for them to receive a letter of their airway assessment. However, twenty-two anesthesiologists (64.7%) reported verbally informing less than 50% of patients about their difficult airway after surgery, and only four anesthesiologists informed all patients they encountered. Most surgeons (91.22%) and anesthesiologists (91.18%) believe that it is vital to inform patients verbally, while 114 surgeons (77.03%) and 31 anesthesiologists (91.18%) believe that it is essential to complete a difficult airway notification alert. Among the factors causing noncompliance, 17 (34.69%) believed that absence of mandatory rules, 9 (18.37%) believed that increased workload, and 8 (16.33%) believed that notification methods were lacking. Conclusions: The compliance to difficult airway notification remains low in Plastic Surgery Hospital despite the high incidence of difficult airways. Although anesthesiologists, surgeons, and patients are strongly in favor of it. Among the barriers to compliance were the absence of a well-developed notification system and a means of notification such as an alert form for difficult airways. Background This study aimed to determine the proportion of organ donors suitable for donation after circulatory death and investigate the current process followed by critical care physicians for declaring circulatory death to establish organ donation. Methods This observational study involved potential organ donors who had recently died after discontinuation of life support. We conducted an online survey of intensivists to determine how these deaths were confirmed. Results Among the 177 patients who died after withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment across 19 intensive care units in 11 institutions, 49 (27.7%) were considered potential donors. According to general medical criteria for organ donation, 20 (11.3%) patients were identified as medically suitable donors. Notably, 116 (73.9%) patients exhibited a flat electrocardiogram within 5 min after the loss of pulse. In the survey, 90 physicians (59.2%) agreed to implement the concept of the 5-min no-touch period for the declaration of circulatory death. Conclusions This study found that 11.3% of the patients who died following the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment in the intensive care units were identified as suitable donors after circulatory death. Nursing interruptions occur frequently and often have adverse outcomes, threatening patient safety. Emergency departments have a high incidence of nursing interruptions owing to the concentration of critically ill patients and frequent emergencies. Current research mainly focuses on large hospitals and uses observation and interview methods. Therefore, there is a need to develop tools for measuring emergency nursing interruptions. This study develops a survey questionnaire on emergency nursing interruptions. It tests its validity and reliability by building on the conceptual framework of emergency nursing interruption proposed in the literature. Specifically, we develop a test version of the emergency nursing interruption survey questionnaire using a Delphi expert inquiry and preinvestigation. We selected 1047 emergency nurses in 22 provinces and autonomous regions of China to participate in the survey by completing the questionnaire between June and July 2023 to evaluate the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. The final questionnaire comprised 26 items across 5 dimensions—sources, types, interrupted nursing activities, consequences of interrupted nursing activities, and management of nursing interruptions. The content validity indexes were 0.948 at scale level and 0.842–1.000 at item level. We used exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to extract five common factors with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 66.550%. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) demonstrated a good model fit. Cronbach's α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.912, split‐half reliability was 0.846, and the retest reliability calculated using the intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.915. To ensure the structural validity of the scales, EFA and CFA were conducted using two different datasets. Background: Community nurses (CNs) play an important role in supporting healthy lifestyles, including healthy eating behaviour of patients. However, many CNs do not incorporate healthy eating support in their daily routines to the fullest extent possible. This study aimed to explore (1) the associations between nurse-related behavioural determinants and self-reported healthy eating support practices of Dutch CNs and (2) CNs' need for additional knowledge. Methods: In this cross-sectional survey design, 244 Dutch CNs completed an online, self-administered questionnaire in October-November 2021. The 60 questionnaire items were related to CNs' characteristics, nurse-related determinants, healthy eating support practices (observing problems, having a conversation about patients' dietary behaviour, motivating patients to eat and drink healthier and supporting patients in goal setting) and the need for additional knowledge. The items on determinants and practices used a 5-point Likert scale. Adjusted prevalence ratios (PRadjusted) with 95% confidence intervals (95%CIs) were obtained for the associations between determinants and practices, using adjusted Poisson regression with robust variance estimations. Results: More CNs practiced observing problems (75%) and having a conversation (70%) than did motivating patients (45%) and supporting goal setting (28%) at least often. A more positive attitude (PRadjusted 1.8; 95%CI 1.5–2.2), greater self-efficacy (PRadjusted 1.3; 95%CI 1.1–1.5), greater motivation (PRadjusted 1.5; 95%CI 1.3–1.7) and better abilities (PRadjusted 1.4; 95%CI 1.2–1.6) were associated with a greater prevalence of supporting healthy eating at least often (vs. never to sometimes). Barriers were not associated with healthy eating support (PRadjusted 1.1; 95%CI 1.0-1.2). CNs especially desired more knowledge on diet in relation to cancer, gastrointestinal diseases, severe psychiatric diseases and dementia; methods for motivating patients to start and for supporting patients to sustain healthy eating; and dealing with patient autonomy. Conclusions: This study suggests that nurse-related behavioural determinants such as attitude, self-efficacy, motivation and ability should be addressed to improve CNs' competences in healthy eating support. In addition, based on self-reported need for additional knowledge, it is recommended to pay attention to evidence-based behaviour change techniques, dealing with patient autonomy, and diet in relation to cancer, gastrointestinal diseases, severe psychiatric diseases and dementia. Introduction Material and Methods Results Conclusions Maternal‐neonatal healthcare services were severely disrupted during the COVID‐19 pandemic in even high‐income countries within the World Health Organization (WHO) European Region. The objective of this study was to compare trends in the quality of maternal and neonatal care (QMNC) in Sweden and Norway to 12 other countries from the WHO European Region during the COVID‐19 pandemic, and to identify domains for improvement.This cross‐sectional study included women giving birth in Europe from March 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022. Women answered an online, anonymous questionnaire which included 40 WHO Standard‐based Quality Measures collectively scored as the total QMNC index (0–400) and separately in four subdomains (0–100): provision of care, experience of care, availability of human and physical resources, and reorganizational changes due to COVID‐19. To assess reported QMNC changes over time, we used adjusted quantile regression models. ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT04847336.Of the 45151 women included in the study, 13 117 (29.1%) were from Sweden and Norway and 32034 (70.9%) from the 12 WHO European countries. The total QMNC index for Sweden and Norway (median: 325, IQR: 285–355) was higher than the 12 WHO European countries (median: 315, IQR: 265–350, p < 0.001) as were trends in QMNC index over time (Sweden and Norway median: 310–345; 12 WHO European countries median: 305–340). Sweden and Norway also had higher scores in three‐of‐four QMNC subdomains, with the 12 WHO European countries scoring higher only for reorganizational changes due to COVID‐19. In adjusted quantile models of the total QMNC index, Sweden and Norway had higher scores, with largest differences in the lower quantiles (p < 0.001 in all percentiles).Across Europe, there are significant gaps in the quality of maternal‐neonatal healthcare services. Although women giving birth in Sweden and Norway reported higher QMNC scores in all subdomains except for “reorganizational changes due to COVID‐19,” there is room for improvement and shared learning across Europe. Background: Oral complications such as parageusia, xerostomia, and oral ulcers are frequently observed in patients with COVID-19. The aim of this study was to understand the oral complications and their influencing factors during the two waves of the COVID-19 pandemic in China between December 2022 and May 2023. Methods: A total of 347 patients during the COVID-19 pandemic from December 2022 and January 2023 and 163 patients during the second COVID-19 pandemic were recruited through the Disease Prevention and Control Reporting System. Data on oral complications were collected via researcher-made questionnaires. Results: During both pandemic periods, more than 50% of the subjects developed oral complications. Specifically, the incidence of parageusia, pathological tongue coating, and xerostomia all exceeded 20%, while the incidence of oral ulcers surpassed 7%. Patients with allotriosmia and xerostomia had a significantly higher likelihood of developing other oral complications. Hospitalized patients requiring supplemental oxygen had a significantly higher incidence of oral complications. Conclusions: The results of our study underline that oral complications during the COVID-19 pandemic are prevalent, and their incidence has not decreased during the subsequent pandemic. In the context of the ongoing global spread of COVID-19, this study lays the foundation for physicians in recognizing and managing oral complications, which will improve the oral health of communities globally. Background: Reasonable instruction and promotion of appropriate exercise are crucial to improving the exercise status of pregnant women and safeguarding the health of both mother and fetus. However, there is a lack of validated Pregnancy Exercise Attitude Scales with a complete evaluation system in China. This study aims to assess the validity and reliability of the Pregnancy Exercise Attitude Scale (C-PEAS) in Chinese to give medical professionals a reference for carrying out pregnancy care services and promoting the health of the mother and fetus. Methods: In this study, the scale was translated, back-translated, and cross-culturally adapted using the Brislin translation model to form the C-PEAS. 528 pregnant women were conveniently selected for the questionnaire survey to evaluate the scale's reliability. The scale's content validity was assessed by the content validity index, while its structural validity was investigated using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Cronbach's alpha coefficient, McDonald's omega coefficient, split-half reliability, and retest reliability were used to evaluate the scale's internal consistency. Results: The C-PEAS contains two dimensions with 37 entries. The EFA supports a two-factor structure with a cumulative variance contribution of 62.927%. The CFA model was well fitted (χ2/df = 1.597, RMSEA = 0.048, IFI = 0.955, TLI = 0.952, and CFI = 0.955). The C- PEAS' Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.973, and the range of Cronbach's alpha values for the dimensions was 0.976, 0.944. McDonald's omega coefficient was 0.971, the half-point reliability of the scale was 0.856, and the retest reliability was 0.966. Conclusions: The Chinese version of C-PEAS has good psychometric properties. It can be used as an effective measurement tool to evaluate the attitude of pregnant women to exercise during pregnancy. Simple Summary: Chlamydia spp. are obligate intracellular bacteria mostly known to cause fertility problems and trachoma in humans but also cause a variety of diseases of major interest in animals. Since some veterinary chlamydial species are known to be zoonotic, it is important to monitor the entire chlamydial outcomes worldwide in humans and animals. Pig farmers and veterinarians are in close contact with swine chlamydia every day. What is not yet fully known is the clinical role that chlamydia plays in swine health, especially in the context of fertility problems. There are suspicions that chlamydia in the genital tract of sows may play a role in infertility, but there is currently no evidence of this. This survey was conducted among veterinarians who diagnose daily in pig farms and must make decisions regarding treatment and prevention. Practitioners are calling for significant action and support from the scientific community because their decisions on diagnosis, therapy, and prevention are often based on intuition rather than scientifically founded knowledge, due to the lack of scientifically validated guidance on control strategies including treatment length, treatment dose, and disinfection procedures. This would not only be important for providing adequate veterinary care to the sows but also in terms of the One Health principle. Background: Although it is generally accepted that Chlamydia spp. can induce fertility problems in sows, many questions concerning diagnostic, therapeutic, and prophylactic approaches remain unanswered. The aim of this study was to gather information about how swine practitioners deal with these knowledge gaps. Methods: Austrian swine practitioners were anonymously asked for their assessment of chlamydiosis using the Lime Survey program. Results: PCR tests are used for molecular chlamydia detection from abortion material (64.3%), vaginal swabs (40.5%), and the genital tract (postmortem slaughterhouse samples) (9.5%). Treatment mainly includes tetracyclines (95.2%), occasionally macrolides (2.4%) or other (not mentioned) antibiotic groups (7.1%). Treatment periods vary greatly, from 5 to 10 days (23.8%), from 11 to 15 days (47.6%), from 16 to 21 days (11.9%), and >21 days (9.5%). Prophylactic measures include hygiene improvement, rodent control, and herd treatments with tetracyclines. Conclusions: Serological methods are perceived as inadequate, and there is a general need for better guidance on interpreting results. Knowledge about the increased incidence of tetracycline-resistant Chlamydia suis strains is limited. Weighing up economic interests, feasibility, and animal welfare plays an important role. Skin barrier impairment is becoming increasingly common due to changes in lifestyle and modern living environments. Oily sensitive skin (OSS) is a condition that is characterized by an impaired skin barrier. Thus, examining the differences between OSS and healthy skin will enable a more objective evaluation of the characteristics of OSS and facilitate investigations of potential treatments. Initially, a self-assessment questionnaire was used to identify patients with OSS. Biophysical measurements and LAST scores were used to determine whether skin barrier function was impaired. Epidermal biophysical properties, including skin hydration, transepidermal water loss (TEWL), sebum content, erythema index (EI), and a* value, were measured with noninvasive instruments. We subsequently devised a noninvasive D-square sampling technique to identify changes in the skin metabolome in conjunction with an untargeted metabolomics analysis with an Orbitrap Q ExactiveTM series mass spectrometer. In the stratum corneum of 47 subjects, 516 skin metabolites were identified. In subjects with OSS, there was an increase in the abundance of 15 metabolites and a decrease in the abundance of 48 metabolites. The participants with OSS were found to have the greatest disruptions in sphingolipid and amino acid metabolism. The results revealed that an impaired skin barrier is present in patients with OSS and offers a molecular target for screening for skin barrier damage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Prehabilitation, which includes nutritional and exercise therapies, is recommended for patients before surgery to improve physical and cognitive functions. This study aimed to identify the awareness, understanding, and issues among surgeons and anesthesiologists regarding the implementation of prehabilitation. Methods: We conducted a survey on prehabilitation targeting surgeons and anesthesiologists working at a university hospital and two private hospitals. The survey collection period was set for 1 month, commencing on February 5, 2024. Descriptive statistics were employed to summarize the characteristics of the participants. Results: A total of 254 surgeons and 49 anesthesiologists from three hospitals participated, with a response rate of 61.7%. Regarding the understanding of prehabilitation, 16.7% of anesthesiologists and only 2% of surgeons had a good grasp of its content. When enquired about the necessity of prehabilitation, 100% of anesthesiologists indicated it as necessary or somewhat necessary, whereas 98.7% of surgeons responded similarly. Several barriers to the implementation of prehabilitation were identified, with the most common reason being the busy schedule of outpatient services. Conclusion: This study highlights that while both surgeons and anesthesiologists recognize the importance of prehabilitation, significant challenges exist in its practical implementation. This underscores the need for simple explanatory tools for patients, the introduction of remote care options, and simple orders to relevant departments, which are essential and require multidisciplinary collaboration. Background: Bruxism is a recurrent parafunctional habit characterized by clenching or grinding teeth and/or jaw contractions. It is quite common among dental students and is associated with psychosocial factors such as stress and anxiety. This study aimed to compare bruxism awareness and self-assessment among clinical students with and without bruxism. Methods: This study included systemically healthy individuals aged 18 to 27 years. Intraoral and extraoral examinations were performed on 128 4th- and 5th-grade dental students with (64) and without bruxism (64), 4th and 5th-grade dental students at Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University who met the inclusion criteria. The diagnosis of bruxism was based on the 2018 International Consensus and data collected through a validated 33-item questionnaire covering general information and bruxism awareness. The questionnaire included multiple-choice questions on bruxism types, risk factors, symptoms, and impact on periodontal tissues. Statistical analyses were performed via IBM SPSS Statistics, and p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Clenching and teeth grinding during sleep, tooth wear, muscle fatigue, pain in the temples, jaw pain, joint trismus, neck pain, and jaw joint pain and clenching while awake were significantly different in bruxism patients (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of bruxism type, symptoms, treatment methods, periodontal tissues, occlusal trauma, diagnostic methods, or the relationship between lifestyle and bruxism (p > 0.05). While 71.9% of those diagnosed with bruxism stated that they had bruxism, 68.8% of those who were not diagnosed stated that they did not have bruxism. Conclusion: Although dental students are aware of bruxism, their understanding of its multifactorial nature and treatment options needs improvement. Increasing this knowledge could reduce the prevalence of bruxism among dental students and improve patient care. Background: The EORTC Quality of Life Group has developed a questionnaire to evaluate cancer patients' perception of their communication with healthcare professionals (HCPs): the EORTC QLQ-COMU26. In this study we test the validity and reliability of this novel measure in an international and culturally diverse sample of cancer patients. Methods: Cancer patients completed the following EORTC questionnaires at two time points (before and during treatment): the QLQ-COMU26 (including a debriefing questionnaire), the QLQ-C30, and specific IN-PATSAT32 scales. These data were used to assess: the cross-cultural applicability, acceptability, scale structure, reliability, convergent/divergent validity, known-groups validity, and responsiveness to change of the QLQ-COMU26. Results: Data were collected from 498 patients with various cancer diagnoses in 10 European countries, Japan, Jordan and India (overall 5 cultural regions). At most, only 3% of patients identified an item as confusing and 0.6% as upsetting, which indicates that the questionnaire was clear and did not trigger negative emotional responses. Confirmatory factor analysis and multi-trait scaling confirmed the hypothesised QLQ-COMU26 scale structure comprising six multi-item scales and four single items (RMSEA = 0.025). Reliability was good for all scales (internal consistency > 0.70; test–retest reliability > 0.85). Convergent validity was supported by correlations of ≥ 0.50 with related scales of the IN-PATSAT32 and correlations < 0.30 with unrelated QLQ-C30 scales. Known-groups validity was shown according to sex, education, levels of anxiety and depression, satisfaction with communication, disease stage and treatment intention, professional evaluated, and having a companion during the visit. The QLQ-COMU26 captured changes over time in groups that were defined based on changes in the item of satisfaction with communication. Conclusion: The EORTC QLQ-COMU26 is a reliable and valid measure of patients' perceptions of their communication with HCPs. The EORTC QLQ-COMU26 can be used in daily clinical practice and research and in various cancer patient groups from different cultures. Background: While several validated sports nutrition knowledge questionnaires exist, none are specifically designed to assess the sports nutrition knowledge (SNK) of Sri Lankan track and field athletes. This study aims to validate the Sri Lankan Sports Nutrition Knowledge Questionnaire (SLn-SNKQ), tailored for this athlete group, to provide more accurate and meaningful insights for research and practice. This will enable health professionals and coaches to confidently assess athletes' nutrition knowledge, which directly influences their food choices. Methods: The validity of the questionnaire was established through a multi-step approach. Content validity was achieved via ratings from nutrition experts, all of whom had specialized training in human nutrition and experience of working with athletes. Face validity was evaluated through in-depth telephone interviews with elite or highly trained athletes, using a retrospective think-out-loud protocol to gather feedback on the clarity and relevance of the questions. Construct validity involved nutrition-trained doctors (NTG), non-nutrition-trained professionals (NNTG), and elite-level athletes' groups (AG). Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach's alpha, and test-retest reliability was evaluated. Results: The final tool comprised 123 individual statements or prompts (items) that were organized into 32 broader questions, spanning 12 sub-sections. Content validity was confirmed by fully integrating 49 out of 70 comments and partially integrating four comments received from nutrition experts for each sub-section. Face validity was established by fully integrating 33 out of 40 comments received from 16 elite and highly trained athletes. Construct validity was confirmed, indicating significant differences in the total scores achieved as a percentage of the SLn-SNKQ among the NTG (462.5, 92.5%), NNTG (223.5, 44.7%), and AG (235, 47.0%; p < 0.001). Reproducibility was established by strong test-retest reliability between individuals' scores on two test attempts, three weeks apart (spearman's correlation; ρ = 0.99, p < 0.05). Internal reliability for each sub-section met psychometric reliability requirements (Cronbach's α > 0.7). Conclusions: The SLn-SNKQ has been validated and demonstrates robust psychometric properties, offering a reliable tool for assessing SNK among Sri Lankan track and field athletes. Background: Despite the global decline in HIV infections and mortality worldwide, the HIV epidemic is still growing in the MENA region. In the region, People Living with HIV (PLWH) are facing many challenges related to cultural values, norms, and provided services which create significant obstacles to HIV prevention and control efforts. This study aimed to translate, culturally adapt, and validate the "2021 Louisiana Needs Assessment Questionnaire" for use among Egyptians and Arabic-speaking population. Methods: Arabic translation and cultural adaptation of the questionnaire passed through five stages. The questionnaire was translated forward and backward then an expert committee reviewed the translated version. Another expert committee reviewed the developed version after modification to assess the content validity using the Content Validity Index (CVI). The last step included a cognitive interview of a convenient sample of 50 adult PLWH in five consecutive rounds to assess subjects' understanding of questions and response items and their meanings. Results: Modifications were carried out all through the translation and adaptation process of the questionnaire including used words, nomenclature of services, adding or omitting response items, and ordering of questions and response items. The synthesized Arabic-adapted questionnaire has adequate content validity and all questions are clearly understood by the studied subjects. The calculated Content Validity Index of all questionnaire items ranged from 0.82 to 1. Conclusion: The developed culturally adapted questionnaire has adequate content validity/semantic appropriateness. It can be used to assess the needs of PLWH in the MENA region with minor adaptations to fit each country. It can also be used to follow the outcome and impact of implemented programs and services. Anaemia among pregnant women remains a public health concern globally. One major cause of this persistent problem is iron deficiency, which may be the result of limited iron intake in the diet. Using the extended version of the theory of planned behaviour (eTPB), this study aims to develop and validate a questionnaire assessing psychosocial and environmental factors that could influence the consumption of iron‐rich foods (IRFs) among Senegalese pregnant women. A three‐step procedure was used. Six focus group discussions (FGDs) were held with 10 pregnant women each from a different region to identify salient beliefs related to each of the four constructs of the eTPB using a structured guide. Information from FGDs was used to develop a questionnaire, which was administered to the first group (n = 200) of pregnant women. Principal component analyses and exploratory factorial analyses were performed on the first set of data to identify latent factors for each construct namely the attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioural control. A revised and shorter version of the questionnaire was administered to a second sample of pregnant women (n = 226) and confirmatory factorial analyses were conducted using this second set of data. Hancock and Muller's H reliability index was computed on the final model. The final questionnaire included 44 items. Most criteria for fit indices were met and H values were satisfactory. This study proposes a tool that could be used to explore determinants of the consumption of IRF among pregnant women. Further validation is still warranted in other contexts. Objective: Home program (HP) compliance is a crucial matter for parents of cerebral palsy (CP). A questionnaire is needed to determine the compliance and perceptions of parents of children with CP regarding the HP. The aim is to evaluate the structural validity, reliability, and responsiveness of Compliance and Perceptions of Parents of Children with Cerebral Palsy to Home Program Assessment Questionnaire (CPHP-Q). Methods: Parents of children with CP aged 2-18 years completed CPHP-Q (n=225). Among all participants, 70 individuals were randomly selected for responsiveness, and another 70 individuals were selected for reliability. Psychometric properties were evaluated using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and Cronbach's Alpha for reliability, effect size (ES) and standard response mean (SRM) for responsiveness, and factor analysis for validity. Results: In parents with CP, CPHP-Q demonstrated high internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha=0.96, ICC=0.93). Compliance and Perceptions of Parents of Children with Cerebral Palsy to Home Program Assessment Questionnaire showed significant responsiveness with ES value 1.31 and SRM value 1.29. Kaiser Meyer Olkin (KMO) was found to be significant with a value of 0.82. According to factor analysis, Chi-square/degrees of freedom (CMIN/DF)=2.25, The Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA)=0.07, Goodness of Fit Index (GFI)=0.84, and comparative fit index (CFI)=0.93 were found. These values showed that model fit was good. Background/Objectives: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory condition mediated by the immune system with various manifestations. The increased prevalence of subclinical joint involvement has led to the development of early diagnostic methods for psoriatic arthritis, including several instruments that have been validated and used in clinical practice. The aim of this study was to perform the Romanian translation, cultural adaptation, and validation of three assessment tools: the Early Arthritis for Psoriatic Patients (EARP) Questionnaire, Psoriasis Epidemiology Screening Tool (PEST), and Toronto Psoriatic Arthritis Screen 2 (TOPAS 2), which are designed to evaluate early-stage arthritis in patients with psoriasis. Methods: All the activities were carried out in accordance with the internationally recognized methodology recommended by the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcome Research (ISPOR), the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the translation process and the validation of instruments, and data from the international literature. These three questionnaires were administered to 29 patients with psoriasis diagnosed by biopsy. A descriptive study was conducted and the data were analyzed with appropriate statistical tests using the PSPP program. A reliability test was assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Results: The obtained values were significant for the first two questionnaires, with a value of 0.89 for the EARP and 0.63 for the PEST, but the value was not as significant for ToPAS2, at 0.40. Background: Early support for children and families in need can improve children's health and development. In a Swedish region, a new working model called Safe Environment for Every Kid (SEEK) was introduced in the Child Health Services to facilitate the early identification of psychosocial risk factors. Objective: The aim of this study was to describe the adoption and introduction of the SEEK model in the Child Health Services of Region Jönköping County. Methods: Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics, whereas qualitative data were analysed separately by a thematic approach. The results were then interpreted together with documents (including CHS management meeting notes and documents describing planning and training sessions) using an exploratory mixed‐methods approach to give a comprehensive description of the adoption and introduction of the SEEK model. Results: The results show that the SEEK model improved coordination and collaboration, which led to better integrated care for children and families. The structure was regarded as supportive when introducing the SEEK model in Child Health Services. The questionnaire, as part of the SEEK model, was used in 88% of possible health visits. The most reported reason for not using it was a lack of time. Conclusions: The desire to make a difference and thereby promote better health and development for children was a crucial factor for the nurses in adopting the SEEK model in their clinical practice. The design using coaches was also appreciated and supported the adoption and introduction of the SEEK model. Background/Objectives: Pain is a multidimensional experience influenced by sensory, emotional, and cognitive factors. Traditional pain assessments often fail to capture this complexity. This study aimed to develop and validate the Pain Multidimensional Questionnaire (Pa-M-QU), a new self-report tool designed to assess pain catastrophizing, sensitivity, and coping strategies. Methods: Two independent samples of Italian-speaking participants, aged 18 and above, were recruited online. The first sample (n = 392; mean age = 29.36) was used for exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and the second sample (n = 123; mean age = 28.0) for confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Pearson's correlations and convergent validity analyses were conducted. Results: From an initial pool of 59 items identified through focus group discussions, 35 items were removed based on reliability analysis. The final 24-item Pa-M-QU features a three-factor structure: catastrophizing, pain sensitivity, and coping with pain. Conclusions: The Pa-M-QU offers a rapid, non-invasive assessment that captures the multidimensional nature of pain. It is a starting point to develop tools for both clinical and research settings, aiding in evaluating pain in healthy individuals and predicting acute and chronic pain disorders. Objective: Compiling and designing short and practical psychometric tools are among the benefits and strengths of a good standard test. The Delirium-O-Meter questionnaire measures patients' delirium status. Accordingly, the main aim of this research was to check the reliability and validity of the Persian version of this questionnaire. Method: This exploratory psychometric study was conducted from 2021 to 2022 at the therapeutic research training centers of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. The study population included patients diagnosed with delirium. Content and construct validity were assessed using exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Exploratory factor analysis was performed using SPSS 18, which helped identify the underlying factor structure, while confirmatory factor analysis in Smart PLS was employed to confirm the structure's fit. Pearson correlation was used to evaluate the consistency between different raters, and Cronbach's alpha was calculated to assess internal consistency. These methods were selected for their robustness in evaluating the instrument's psychometric properties, ensuring the reliability and validity of the Persian version of the Delirium-O-Meter questionnaire. Results: The Persian version of the Delirium-O-Meter questionnaire, consisting of 11 items, demonstrated strong psychometric properties. The average impact factor was 3.24, indicating a high relevance of the items. The content validity ratio was 0.78, and the content validity index was 0.87, both above the acceptable thresholds, confirming the content validity of the questionnaire. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the entire questionnaire was 0.77, reflecting good internal consistency. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin index was 0.88, and Bartlett's sphericity test was significant (χ² = 278.45, P < 0.001), indicating the appropriateness of the data for factor analysis. Exploratory factor analysis revealed two factors that explained 76.09% of the total variance, supporting the questionnaire's construct validity. Additionally, Pearson's correlation coefficient between the assessments of two nurses was 0.91, signifying inter-rater solid reliability. Conclusion: The Persian version of the Delirium-O-Meter questionnaire demonstrates acceptable reliability and validity, as confirmed by the comprehensive psychometric evaluation conducted in this study. Introduction: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)-related arthritis is recognized as the most prevalent extraintestinal manifestation (EIM) of IBD. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence and characteristics of undiagnosed IBD-related arthritis and to compare two screening questionnaires, DETection of Arthritis in Inflammatory boweL diseases (DETAIL) and IBd Identification of Spondyloarthritis Questionnaire (IBIS-q), for early disease detection. Methods: Between April and October 2023, both the DETAIL and IBIS-q questionnaires were administered to consecutive IBD outpatients visiting the University Hospital of Udine, Italy. During routine gastroenterology evaluations, patients aged > 18 years with Crohn's disease (CD) or ulcerative colitis (UC) were requested to complete both questionnaires. Subsequently, all patients who completed the questionnaires underwent a blinded rheumatological evaluation within 2 weeks. Patients with a previous diagnosis of IBD-related SpA were then excluded. Results: Overall, 203 patients were enrolled, of whom 26 were excluded because of a prior diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis. Among the remaining 177 patients, 10/177 (5.6%) received a new diagnosis of IBD-related arthritis. The median duration of symptoms before diagnosis was 4 (IQR 1.8–10.5) months. Imaging-confirmed enthesitis was the predominant pattern in 8 out 10 cases (80%, with 8 out 8 lacking concomitant peripheral arthritis), axial involvement in 1 out 10 cases (10%), and peripheral arthritis in 1 out 10 cases (10%). The DETAIL questionnaire exhibited higher specificity, but lower sensitivity compared to the IBIS-q, with a sensitivity of 40.0% (12.2–73.8) and specificity of 84.4% (78.0–89.6) versus a sensitivity of 70.0% (34.8–93.3) and specificity of 74.3% (66.9–80.7). Both questionnaires performed less effectively than in other studies. Conclusion: This study highlights a significant proportion of undiagnosed IBD-related arthritis (5.6%). Enthesitis emerged as the predominant pattern of newly diagnosed arthritis in our cohort, likely due to the recent onset of symptoms. Background: Rare diseases are associated with unique challenges encountered in diagnosis, treatment and conduct of clinical research. Desmoid tumour (DT) is one such ultrarare malignancy about which awareness among medical professionals remains limited. We developed a questionnaire to assess knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) among medical professionals on DT. Methods: E-Delphi method was used for the assessment of KAP for DT amongst clinical experts (experience of >/= 3 years in DT). 22 open-ended statements were developed by the core research group using current consensus guidelines. In round 1, experts provided subjective feedback which was incorporated into a 35-item questionnaire. Round 2 entailed experts giving feedback as a 5-point Likert scale classified into agreement (median score >/=4), neutral (median score 3) and disagreement (median score <3). Feedback from Round 2 was incorporated and questions with neutral consensus were modified. Questions in Round 3 achieved consensus if >/= 75% participants agreed. Results: 11 (64.7%) of 17 contacted experts responded in Round 1 including 6 (54.4%) who gave additional inputs and 5 (45.6%) who agreed to all statements. In round 2, 8 out of 11 experts responded to the 35-item questionnaire on knowledge (n = 16), attitude (n = 8) and practice (n = 11). 32 questions obtained agreement and 3 (8.5%) had neutral consensus. These were modified for round 3, in which consensus on 2 (66.6%) was attained. Purpose: Chronic diseases in older age are major sources of burden for healthcare systems. Compliance with medications is the key to treatment success for these patients, especially for frail individuals living in community settings. However, adherence to long-term medications in this population is not optimal, which leads to the need for frequent screening of compliance within large-scale public health surveys. In this context, a brief, simple and valid measure capturing medication adherence is not yet available. This study aims to develop and psychometrically test the Therapeutic Adherence Scale, a brief four-item tool that measures medication adherence in community-dwelling older adults affected by chronic diseases. Methods: We conducted a three-phase process of instrument development, content validity assessment and psychometric testing. Results: Of the candidate nine items derived from a review of the literature, only four were deemed essential to capture intentional and nonintentional nonadherence. These items underwent structural validity, convergent and known-groups validity, and internal consistency on a sample of 269 participants (mean age = 7.91 years, SD = 7.26). Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed satisfactory fit indices (RMSEA = 0.000, CFI = 1.00, TLI = 1.00). Scores of the TAS were higher for those perceiving loneliness (ρ = 0.33, p < 0.001), those declaring memory loss in the last year (ρ = 0.29, p < 0.001), and those exhibiting worse mental quality of life (ρ = − 0.15, p = 0.03) compared with the other groups. Cronbach's alpha and split-half reliability coefficients were acceptable, with values of 0.68 and 0.77, respectively. Conclusion: The Therapeutic Adherence Scale is a brief, valid and reliable self-report measure of medication adherence that can be used in practice and research to screen patients living in community settings. Objective After the COVID-19 pandemic, providing health care has changed and telehealth services have expanded rapidly. Telemedicine in most sciences, including speech therapy, has become more and more popular throughout the world. However, in Iran, many families still hesitate to use telepractice in speech. The purpose of this study was to design and psychometrically evaluate the satisfaction questionnaire of families of children with stuttering or speech sound disorders from telepractice in speech therapy services. Materials & Methods This study is a methodological tool-making study. The statistical population of the research consisted of 142 parents of children with stuttering and speech sound disorders who used telepractice in speech therapy services living in Tehran Province, Iran, in 2022. The samples were chosen by available sampling. The content validity of the questionnaire was assessed by 11 speech therapy professors and specialists, and the face validity was assessed by 10 families that used telepractice in speech therapy services. The structural validity and reliability (factor analysis) were evaluated based on a questionnaire completed by 142 parents of children with stuttering and speech sound disorders. Internal consistency and reproducibility were used to assess the reliability of the questionnaire. To check the reliability (reproducibility of the tool), 30 participants completed the questionnaire over a time interval of two weeks. Data analysis was done using SPSS software, version 24. Results The average content validity ratio (CVR) in accepted items was 0.903 and the average content validity index (CVI) in accepted items was 0.935. The result of the factor analysis showed 3 factors: Effectiveness, user-friendliness, responsibility and responsiveness of the therapist, which explained 57.1% of the total variance. The Cronbach a coefficient of the whole questionnaire was 0.94 and three factors exceeded 0.7. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) value for all three factors and the entire questionnaire was >0.9. Conclusion The findings of this research indicate that the questionnaire on families' satisfaction with telepractice in speech therapy services is an acceptable questionnaire with good validity (face, content and structure) and reliability (internal consistency and repeatability). Speech therapists can use this questionnaire to evaluate families' satisfaction with children with stuttering or speech sound disorders. Background: Health literacy plays an important role in public health. Although this has been demonstrated in the field of ophthalmology, there are very few specific instruments available to assess eye health literacy. This work aims to develop an Italian questionnaire on knowledge of eye diseases (Knowledge on Eye Disease, Italian version; KED-IT) and to evaluate its reliability and reproducibility. The KED-IT focuses on diseases with high social impact, specifically glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and keratoconus, which is the main cause of corneal transplant in Italy. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. The KED-IT was self-administered by the study participants twice. The interval between each administration (T0 and T1) was 5 to 8 days. Reliability was assessed using the KR-20 coefficient. The test-retest Cohen's Kappa coefficient was estimated to measure the stability and reproducibility of the results obtained between T0 and T1. Results: A total of 60 subjects participated in the study. The response rate at T1 was 92%. The KR-20 reliability coefficient of the 14-item KED-IT questionnaire was good with a value of 0.878. The Cohen's kappa value for all 14 items of the KED-IT questionnaire was k = 0.747, indicating good agreement. Conclusions: The KED-IT is the first specific ophthalmic knowledge questionnaire validated in the Italian language and we hope that it may be a starting point for the study of eye health literacy in the Italian population. Background: Many studies were conducted among medical students to assess the implementation of a new competency-based medical education (CBME) curriculum. Studies assessing the CBME examination pattern are limited. Aims and Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the experiences and the challenges faced by the medical students in our government medical college, Kadapa while implementing the new CBME examination pattern in pharmacology for the MBBS batch 2023-2024 students. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire containing 20 questions was shared through WhatsApp to 2nd MBBS students through Google Forms with ten descriptive questions having and other ten questions using Likert scale. The time-period provided for answering the questions was 1 week. The data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel sheet by Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences software. Results: Above 80% of the students were in the opinion that the new CBME theory examination pattern was good. About 20% of the students were in the opinion that few modifications are necessary in the pharmacology theory examination papers. In five-point Likert scale, we got an average mean score of "4" showing that above 95% of the students were in the opinion that the new CBME practical examinations were good. Conclusion: Most of the students were in opinion that the new CBME examination pattern was good and reached to them in the right way. Background: Oral Submucous fibrosis has a substantial burden on the Indian population; thus there is a substantial need for a validated questionnaire assessing QoL in Hindi. Thus, a prospective cross-sectional study was designed to translate and validate the English version of the OHR QoL-OSF questionnaire into Hindi. Methodology: We followed the guidelines suggested by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) for the translation procedure and subsequently validated the translated questionnaire with reliability and validity. Results: A total of 50 patients were included in this pilot study. Cronbach's alpha for 17 items was 0.87 signifying high reliability. All questions had an I-CVI of 1.00, demonstrating complete agreement among the content experts regarding the relevance and clarity of items in the questionnaire. Convergent validity was adequately established for all factors except for factor 3 for which it was around 0.43. The intraclass coefficient was 0.803 showing good agreement between the test–retest results. Conclusion: The Hindi version of the OHR QoL questionnaire is a reliable instrument having good reliability, good content, good acceptability, and good responsiveness, and thus appears to be a valid instrument. Pharmacists' job performance is crucial for improving pharmacy services. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the association of emotional intelligence with the job performance of pharmacists in Saudi Arabia. Using social media platforms, we disseminated an online questionnaire to pharmacists licensed to practice in Saudi Arabia between June and July 2022. The questionnaire was filled out by 352 pharmacists. The majority of the participants were women (60.5%) and working as community pharmacists (55.7%). On self-reported emotional intelligence and job performance scales, the respondents scored an average of 5.5 ± 0.9 (out of 7) and 4.0 ± 0.6 (out of 5), respectively. Multiple linear regression analyses revealed that emotional intelligence had a significant relationship with job performance (β = 0.43, p < 0.001). In conclusion, the findings indicated that emotional intelligence may influence the job performance of pharmacists in Saudi Arabia. As the primary objective of every organization is to accomplish the best possible performance, prioritizing emotional intelligence is important. Objective: The aims of this study were to translate the SAPE questionnaire (Scales of the Attitudes toward People with Epilepsy) questionnaire developed in Germany that assesses attitudes toward people with epilepsy (PWE) into Japanese and to examine its reliability and validity. Methods: We crafted the Japanese version of SAPE (SAPE‐J) by drawing upon the original German version. On May 22nd and 23rd, 2023, we surveyed the general public registered with an online research survey service (Cross Marketing Group Inc., Tokyo, Japan) using an online questionnaire. Inclusion criteria were an age of ≥18 years, sufficient reading and speaking skills in Japanese, and the ability to comprehend the Japanese questionnaires. In addition to the translated SAPE‐J, we asked about knowledge of epilepsy, personal experience with epilepsy, and gathered information about age, gender, employment status, education level, marital status, and household income in accordance with the validation of the German version of the SAPE. Results: 400 adults from the general public who had heard or read about epilepsy were asked to participate, granted informed consent, and completed the study questionnaire. The SAPE‐J questionnaire has 6 scales: 1. Social Distance; 2. Stereotypes; 3. Concerns when encountering a person with epilepsy (PWE) and emotional reactions differentiated by 4.1 Fear, 4.2. Anger, and 4.3 Pity; with a total of 26 items. The reliability of these scales ranged between acceptable to high (Cronbach's alpha 0.74–0.92) and confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) confirmed the presumed six‐factor structure of the SAPE (factorial validity). Multivariate generalized linear models (GLM) were used to investigate the construct validity and showed that, depending on subscale, different variables such as age, gender, education level, personal contact to PWE, and epilepsy specific knowledge were significant predictors of attitudes. Significance: The Japanese version of the SAPE proved reliable and valid for assessing attitudes toward PWE in the Japanese public. Increasing understanding about how to deal with and accept persons with epilepsy may help reduce negative attitudes and fears about the condition. Objective: To outline the preliminary development and validation of a questionnaire for diagnosing epilepsy and distinguishing focal and generalized epilepsy among infants and children in Indonesia, where electroencephalography and pediatric neurologists are generally not available. Methods: A 10‐question questionnaire comprising of 43 items was developed through literature review and expert panel discussions. Then, the questionnaire was administered by pediatricians to 75 children aged 1 month to 18 years old presenting with >1 episode of unprovoked seizures at an interval of >24 h. Subsequently, the questionnaire was assessed for content validity with item‐level and scale‐level content validity indices and ratio, construct validity with item‐total correlation tests, criterion validity with diagnostic parameter assessments, and inter‐rater reliability using Cohen's kappa (κ) and internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha (α) coefficient. Results: The questionnaire exhibited favorable internal validity and reliability in diagnosing epilepsy and distinguishing focal and generalized epilepsy, with excellent content (both indices and ratio at 1) and construct validity (rcount > rtable at p < 0.001), inter‐rater reliability (κ = 0.86 and κ = 0.84), and internal consistency (α = 0.634 and α = 0.806). The questionnaire had a sensitivity and specificity of 96.4% (95%CI 89.1–99.5%) and 95.0% (79.5–99.6%) (area under the curve [AUC] 0.946 [0.900–0.992, p < 0.001]) in diagnosing epilepsy and 80.0% (57.4–95.7%) and 97.4% (89.7–99.2%) (AUC 0.889 [0.783–0.995, p < 0.001]) in distinguishing focal and generalized epilepsy, with a misdiagnosis rate of 4.0%. Significance: The questionnaire shows promising potential in diagnosing epilepsy and distinguishing focal and generalized epilepsy. Further external validation studies in larger and more diverse populations are required to confirm our findings. Background: Dietary supplements (DS) are very popular with the general population, physically active people and professional athletes are often taken without professional advice. Adverse effects on consumer health are increasingly being reported and there are concerns about overdoses of certain nutrients. There are initial indications that some groups of people have a higher affinity to DS than others. It appears that the type of sport and possibly gym membership could have an influence on consumer behaviour. Therefore, this study aimed to identify high consumer groups of DS among the general population in Germany. › Methods: The consumption of DS was assessed using an online questionnaire including information about physical activity, gym membership and the consumption and intake doses of DS. Completed questionnaires were returned by 244 participants (m=153, f=91; 30.7±10.4 years SD). The answer options were valued, and subjects were categorized in low, average and high consumers (indicating overdosing). A configural frequency analysis was performed using the independent variables gender, gym membership, consumption. The configurations were tested with an exact binomial test and the p-value was corrected according to Bonferroni (0.05/12=0.0042). › Results: Three significant configurations were found (p=0.0042). The configuration, 'male-gym member-average consumption' as well as 'male-gym member-high consumption' were significantly overrepresented. Male gym members with low consumption behaviour were significantly underrepresented. › Conclusion: This analysis suggests that male gym users in the German population have a higher risk of excessive DS consumption than other subgroups. Awareness campaigns regarding the risk of intake and overconsumption of DS can be targeted to high-risk groups. The present study will assess workers' perceptions of the benefits of exercise and their awareness of the usefulness of performing it during working hours. The sample consists of 40 employees, in a small and medium-sized business, equipped with a gymnasium that gives the opportunity to exercise internally for 12 months. Convenience sampling was used, having direct access to employees through contact with the owner. A specially developed questionnaire was then administered to participants to collect detailed information on their fitness habits, perceptions of the benefits of exercise, and awareness of the usefulness of performing exercise activities in the workplace. Post-administration of the questionnaire indicated that 87.5% believed that exercise was important for health, 82.5% believed that having the opportunity to exercise in the workplace would boost mental and physical well-being and productivity. Following the application of the ChiSquare test, a first significant relationship was found between employees' perceptions regarding the usefulness of implementing exercise in the work and non-work context (p=.041). A second relationship was found between the possibility of performing exercise at work and the desire to be more physically fit (p=.002). It is shown that the possibility of performing exercise at workplaces gives way to practice at least the recommended daily amount of movement, making workers perceive the benefits of this practice and its repercussions in the work context. Background: The aim of this study was to determine the psychometric properties of the Spanish-language version of the HIV-Symptom Index (HIV-SI) questionnaire in Spanish patients undergoing antiretroviral therapy. Methods: Between 2014 and 2016, an observational, multicenter, prospective cohort study was conducted in seventeen Spanish hospitals to validate HIV-SI questionnaire in terms of: construct validity (confirmatory factor analysis), internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha), convergent validity (Pearson's correlation coefficient) and Known-group validity. In addition, a sensitivity to change analysis was also performed. Results: A total of 232 patients were included in the study. They had a mean age of 46.17 (SD9.82) and were 75% male. The median overall score for the HIV-SI was 10 (IQR 4– 19.5) and the most common symptoms reported were feelings of nervousness or anxiety, fatigue or energy loss, feeling sad or depressed, stomach pain or bloating, and difficulty sleeping. In the current study, the Spanish HIV-SI questionnaire showed a high internal consistency (α = 0.89) and adequate construct validity (CFI and TLI > 0.90). When contrasted with the MOS-HIV questionnaire, an inverse correlation was found. It showed a good association with the mental (r=-0.61; P < 0.0001) and physical score (r=-0.60; P < 0.0001). In a multivariate analysis, the age of the patient, female condition, hepatitis C coinfection, concomitant treatment and non-adherence resulted in a higher HIV-SI score. Conclusions: Our study has shown that the Spanish HIV-SI is a valid and reliable self-administered PROM for routine measurement of patient- reported symptoms among Spanish patients on antiretroviral treatment.
