Background: About 10% of Indians have common mental disorders (CMDs) which include depression and anxiety. These disorders are common in women, which not only impacts on their quality of life but also their family members. The objective of the study was to estimate the prevalence of CMDs, and factors associated with them among women residing in coastal Karnataka. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out among 980 women aged between 18 and 60 years from 2019 to 2021. Women were administered a baseline questionnaire along with Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Generalised Anxiety Disorder questionnaire-7 (GAD-7) and Cohen’s Perceived Stress Scale-4 (PSS-4). Data were collected using Epi-info and were analysed using SPSS version 15.0. Association between CMDs and socio-demographic, reproductive health and behavioural factors were expressed as crude and adjusted odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI). Results: The prevalence of CMDs among women was 5.7%, with 4.6% having depression and 3.37% with anxiety disorders. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that residing in urban areas (OR = 2.15; 95% CI:1.10–4.17), having a chronic illness (OR = 2.38; 95% CI:1.14–4.97), history of recent bereavement in the family (OR = 2.20; 95% CI:1.02–4.75), early marriage (OR = 2.63; 95% CI:1.09–6.33), history of abortion (OR = 2.89; 95% CI:1.42–5.92), and exposure to domestic violence (OR = 3.08; 95% CI:1.14–8.33) were significantly correlated with CMDs in this sample. Conclusions: The study revealed that CMDs were prevalent among the surveyed women, which calls for routine screening of women for CMDs in primary care settings for early identification and appropriate interventions.

Lamivudine (LMD), an enantiomer of 2'-deoxy-3'-thiacytidine, plays a crucial role in combatting HIV-1 and managing hepatitis B virus infections. Despite its effectiveness, challenges arise from its difficult flowability and tendency to agglomerate during storage, necessitating a granulation step before tablet compression, as direct compression has proven ineffective. This study aimed to optimize Lamivudine spherical agglomerates using response surface methodology, delving into the intricate relationship between design factors (concentration of tween, span, and acetone) and experimental outcomes (yield and particle size) through central composite design. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was employed for optimization, with the Quasi-emulsion solvent-diffusion (QESD) crystallization technique utilized for the checkpoint batch. This technique, involving a single solvent and antisolvent with surfactants, showcased remarkable enhancements in flowability and reduced storage agglomeration. The impact of various surfactants [Hydroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC), polysorbate 80, and sorbitane monooleate] on particle morphology, flowability, and storage agglomeration during crystallization was thoroughly assessed. While achieving direct compression into tablets, the porous structure of LMD agglomerates presented challenges in tablet press production speeds, prompting adjustments such as reducing punch speed or implementing a precompression step. Positive outcomes were realized for disintegration and in vitro drug release in comparison to direct compression and wet granulation methods. In conclusion, the QESD crystallization technique successfully yielded hollow, spherical LMD agglomerates with enhanced properties, representing a significant milestone in pharmaceutical formulation., (Copyright © 2024. In the current work, Response Surface Methodology (RSM)-a statistical method-is used to optimize procedures like photocatalysis with the least amount of laboratory testing. However, to determine the most effective model for achieving the maximum rate of removal efficiency, the Response Surface Methodology was employed. The Ba-doped BiFeO 3 photocatalyst was synthesized by the co-precipitation method, and its intrinsic properties were investigated by utilizing a range of spectroscopic techniques, such as FESEM, EDX, XRD, FTIR, and UV-vis. Herein, four independent factors such as, pH, contact time, pollutant concentration, and catalyst dosage were chosen. The results revealed that under acidic conditions with a contact duration of 2 min, a moderate catalyst dosage, and higher pollutant concentration, a degradation rate of 89.8% was achieved. The regression coefficient (R 2 ) and probability value (P) were determined to be 0.99551 and 0.0301, respectively, therefore confirming the excellent fit of the RSM model. Furthermore, this research investigated the potential photocatalytic degradation mechanisms of cefixime, demonstrating that the removal efficiency of cefixime is greatly influenced by the functional parameters., (© 2024. Picrorhiza kurroa Royle ex Benth ( P. kurroa ) is an important medicinal plant in the ayurvedic system for treating various liver and inflammatory conditions. The present study aimed to extract the phytocompounds from various extracts (Acetone, Chloroform, Ethanol, Ethyl acetate, Hexane, and Methanol) of P. kurroa. Further, the major phytocompounds were nano-encapsulated by PLGA (Poly-lactic- co -glycolic acid) method and characterized to enhance activity towards the target. The highest polyphenolic value was found to be 323.2 ± 16.6 and 316.3 ± 12.1 μg GAEq./mg in ethanolic and methanolic extracts. The highest flavonoid value was found to be 280.3 ± 19.8 and 300.8 ± 15.2 in ethanolic and methanolic extracts μg QEq./mg. P. kurroa exhibited DPPH radical scavenging with IC 50 of 38.2 ± 1.1 and 43.7 ± 1.8 μg/mL and also showed potent ferric reducing power and total antioxidant activities. The major phytocompounds, such as apocynin (AP) and vanillic acid (VA), were confirmed using HPLC. Further, the nano-encapsulation of apocynin and vanillic acid successfully achieved by PLGA methods. The average particle size of nano-encapsulated apocynin, vanillic acid is 350 nm, 204.4 nm, and zeta potential were -25.3 mv and -11.2 mv. Nanoformulations showed an apocynin and vanillic acid encapsulation efficiency of 93.6% and 93.3%, respectively. SEM and AFM confirmed the round and smooth morphology of the nanoparticles. The results of XRD confirmed the amorphous nature of nanoformulations. FTIR technique confirm the presence of biomolecules inside the polymer. The thermal stability of nanoformulations determined by DSC analysis showed endothermic peak. The implementation of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is crucial for eliminating cervical cancer in India. The infodemic, characterised by misleading information, could hinder the successful implementation of the initiative. Misinformation related to the HPV vaccine, such as rumours, has been reported and circulated, contributing to an alarming pattern of vaccine hesitancy observed on social media. This study aimed to identify the public sentiment towards HPV vaccination based on the 'Behavioral and Social Drivers (BeSD)' framework through geospatial, content and sentiment analysis. A total of 1,487 tweets were extracted. After preprocessing, 1010 tweets were identified for sentiment and content analysis. The sentiments expressed towards the HPV vaccine are mixed, with a generally positive outlook on the vaccines. Within the population, there is a pervasive proliferation of misinformation, primarily focusing on vaccine safety and efficacy, contentious subjects, ethical considerations, and a prevalent sense of uncertainty in selecting the appropriate vaccine. These observations are crucial for developing targeted strategies to address public concerns and enhance vaccination rates. The insights gained from these results will guide policymakers, healthcare practitioners, and public health organisations to implement evidence-based interventions, thereby countering vaccine hesitancy and improving public health outcomes.

Background:  Glass ionomer cement (GIC) is widely used in dentistry due to its chemical adhesion to dental tissues, biocompatibility, and anti-cariogenic potential but they have relatively weak mechanical properties. Resin composites have been widely regarded as the first choice for direct restorations but their polymerization shrinkage has remained a major problem. It has the potential to cause tooth debonding. The composite interface leads to postoperative sensitivity, secondary caries, enamel cracks, and microleakage. A restorative material's capacity to withstand occlusal stresses and support the remaining tooth structure depends on this property. Although class V restorations are predominantly done with GIC, this study was done to compare the strength of composite with the same. The GIC restore glass which is commonly used was tested against restofill composite. The main objective of conducting the study was to compare the compressive strength of the composite vs GIC in cervical cavities. So the aim of the study is to assess the occlusal load strength of GIC and composite in class V cavities using the universal testing machine., Materials and Methods:  This study was employed as an in vitro study involving 20 natural central incisor teeth without any carious lesions. Class V cavity preparation was done and the selected teeth were divided into two groups of ten each. The cavities were filled with D Tech Restore GIC and composite restorations (restofill), respectively, polished, and then subjected to testing. An eccentric load was applied to the tooth structure using an Instron (Instron E3000 Electropuls, Instron, Norwood, United States) - Universal testing machine with a cross-head speed of 1mm per minute, and the stresses were further analyzed in the presence of an occlusal loading test using a stainless steel jig of 1mm diameter which led to the sectioning of the tooth buccolingually under the applied load., Results:  An independent t-test was used to assess the results, and it was concluded that the results were statistically significant (p<0.05) at p=0.034., Conclusion:  Conclusively, the results suggested that the occlusal load strength of the composite is greater when compared to GIC., Competing Interests: The authors have declared that no competing interests exist., (Copyright © 2023, V.S et al.)

Introduction: Oronasopharyngeal stricture is a rare sequel of oropharyngeal surgical procedure which can cause swallowing difficulty, dyspnea, sleep related breathing disorders, incompetence at the velopharynx due to soft palatal adherence. Case: Here we present a case of nine-year-old girl who presented to us with complains of nasal obstruction since 3 months and symptoms of sleep disordered breathing. She underwent adenotonsillectomy 5 years ago and coblator assisted palatoplasty and stricture release 4 months ago. On examination adenoid facies was noted, postpalatoplasty and tonsillectomy status with stricture between the anterior and posterior tonsillar pillars. Soft palate was stuck to posterior pharyngeal wall. Computed tomography scan was done which depicted homogenously enhancing soft tissue density causing complete nasopharyngeal airway obstruction. Oronasopharyngeal stricture release was performed under general anesthesia. Infant feeding tube was inserted through the nasal cavity and introduced through the oropharynx into exterior and was tied externally which was removed on postoperative day 5. Child is on regular follow up since 5 months and asymptomatic. Discussion: Oropharyngeal stricture is reported as a rare sequela of adenotonsillectomy. Many surgical techniques have been reported for release of similar oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal stricture patterns such as triamcinolone injection, manual dilation method, plasma hook method, division and skin grafting, local flaps like pharyngeal or palatal mucosal flaps, and free flap techniques. Incarcerated gravid uterus (IGU) is a serious complication of pregnancy that leads to adverse obstetric outcomes. The aim of this review was to describe this entity in detail. We also aimed to understand if pregnancies with predisposing risk factors that increase the risk of developing IGU had a difference in their clinical manifestations, treatment, and obstetric outcomes. The PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus databases and clinicaltrials.gov were searched from inception to July 2023. Case reports and series that provided all the details of the pregnancy and IGU outcome were included. Study quality and risk of bias were assessed using a tool that is an adaptation from criteria listed by Pierson, Bradford Hills and Newcastle Ottawa scale modification. Patients with the condition of interest included in this review were grouped into those with documented, identified risk factors and no risk factors. The two groups were compared to understand the difference in obstetric outcome and presentation of IGU. Data were analyzed and summarized descriptively, categorical variables were assessed by chi-squared test or Fisher's exact test, and continuous variables by the Wilcoxon Mann Whitney test. Of 236 articles found, 62 articles with 80 cases were included in the final analysis. The median age was 32 [27-35] years. The median gestational age of diagnosis was 17 [14-26] weeks. The most common risk factor was fibroids (N = 22, 27.5 %). Most common presentation was urinary complaints and lower abdomen pain (N = 47, 58.6 %). Twenty-seven patients (33.6 %) needed more than one visit for the diagnosis to be made. Conservative management was the first step to treat IGU in most patients. Most common complication was fetal malpresentation (N = 13, 40.6 %). Patients with or without risk factors developing IGU had no statistical difference in- parity, median gestational age of diagnosis, delay in diagnosis, increased chance of misdiagnosis, management of IGU or in obstetric outcome (all p > 0.05). It is important to recognize this entity early to prevent obstetric complications especially when patients report urinary retention and abdomen pain. The presence of risk factors does not change the management course or obstetric outcome in patients with IGU. The present study identifies and analyses the degraded products of three azo dyes (Reactive Orange 16, Reactive Red 120, and Direct Red 80) and proffers their in silico toxicity predictions. In our previously published work, the synthetic dye effluents were degraded using an ozonolysis-based Advanced Oxidation Process. In the present study, the degraded products of the three dyes were analysed using GC-MS at endpoint strategy and further subjected to in silico toxicity analysis using Toxicity Estimation Software Tool (TEST), Prediction Of TOXicity of chemicals (ProTox-II), and Estimation Programs Interface Suite (EPI Suite). Several physiological toxicity endpoints, such as hepatotoxicity, carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, cellular and molecular interactions, were considered to assess the Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships (QSAR) and adverse outcome pathways. The environmental fate of the by-products in terms of their biodegradability and possible bioaccumulation was also assessed. Results of ProTox-II suggested that the azo dye degradation products are carcinogenic, immunotoxic, and cytotoxic and displayed toxicity towards Androgen Receptor and Mitochondrial Membrane Potential. TEST results predicted LC50 and IGC50 values for three organisms Tetrahymena pyriformis, Daphnia magna, and Pimephales promelas. EPISUITE software via the BCFBAF module surmises that the degradation products' bioaccumulation (BAF) and bioconcentration factors (BCF) are high. The cumulative inference of the results suggests that most degradation by-products are toxic and need further remediation strategies. The study aims to complement existing tests to predict toxicity and prioritise the elimination/reduction of harmful degradation products of primary treatment procedures. The novelty of this study is that it streamlines in silico approaches to predict the nature of toxicity of degradation by-products of toxic industrial affluents like azo dyes. The main aim of the study was to assess various ENT symptoms in COVID 19 patients, also to investigate the severity of ENT symptoms among COVID 19 patients and find their relation on basis of scores among five discrete domains of SNOT 22 (Sino nasal Outcome Test). A prospective observational study was conducted among 135 patients between 18 to 75 years of age, in the month of September 2020 with COVID-19 infection having mild, moderate disease who were admitted to our hospital. Subjects were divided into groups according to their presenting ENT symptoms based on age, gender and other comorbidities and differences between the groups were examined. The sinonasal symptoms were assessed using the SNOT 22 questionnaire. A strong statistical significance with loss of smell and taste sensation was noted in patients above the age of 40 years. It was also noted that the patients who presented with cough above the age of 40 years were significantly more. Evaluation of sinonasal symptoms using SNOT 22 questionnaire showed that Extranasal rhinologic symptoms, Psychological dysfunction, Sleep dysfunction had significantly higher association among patients who were more than 40 years. We observed that, Extranasal rhinologic symptoms were significantly higher among males than females. There is thus an emergent need to develop a uniform tool to assess the various ENT symptoms. Background: The initial insights from the studies on COVID-19 had been disappointing, indicating the necessity of an aggravated search for alternative strategies. In this regard, the adjunct potential of yoga has been proposed for enhancing the effectiveness of the standard of care with respect to COVID-19 management. We tested whether a telemodel of yoga intervention could aid in better clinical management for hospitalized patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 when complemented with the standard of care., Methods: This was a randomized controlled trial conducted at the Narayana Hrudyalaya, Bengaluru, India, on hospitalized patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 infection enrolled between 31 May and 22 July 2021. The patients ( n = 225) were randomized in a 1:1 ratio [adjunct tele-yoga ( n = 113) or standard of care]. The adjunct yoga group received intervention in tele-mode within 4-h post-randomization until 14 days along with the standard of care. The primary outcome was the clinical status on day 14 post-randomization, assessed with a seven-category ordinal scale. The secondary outcome set included scores on the COVID Outcomes Scale on day 7, follow-up for clinical status and all-cause mortality on day 28, post-randomization, duration of days at the hospital, 5th-day changes post-randomization for viral load expressed as cyclic threshold (Ct), and inflammatory markers and perceived stress scores on day 14., Results: As compared with the standard of care alone, the proportional odds of having a higher score on the 7-point ordinal scale on day 14 were ~1.8 for the adjunct tele-yoga group (OR = 1.83, 95% CI, 1.11-3.03). On day 5, there were significant reductions in CRP ( P = 0.001) and LDH levels ( P = 0.029) in the adjunct yoga group compared to the standard of care alone. CRP reduction was also observed as a potential mediator for the yoga-induced improvement of clinical outcomes. Emerging contaminants are posing a new water quality challenge, worldwide. The majority of pharmaceutical and personal care products used by us have been regarded as emerging contaminants. Benzophenone is one such chemical found in personal care products, specially in sunscreen creams as an UV-filter. Copper tungstate/nickel oxide (CuWO 4 /NiO) nanocomposite with visible (LED) light irradiation has been investigated in degradation of benzophenone, in the present study. The co-precipitation approach was used to produce the aforementioned nanocomposite. XRD, FTIR, FESEM, EDX, Zeta potential, and UV-Vis spectroscopy illustrated the structure, morphology, and other catalytic features. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize and simulate the photodegradation of benzophenone. Herein, catalyst dose, pH, initial pollutant concentration, and contact time were considered as the independent factor in the design of experiment (DoE) using RSM with percentage degradation as the dependent factor or as a response. The CuWO 4 /NiO nanocomposite demonstrated high photocatalytic performance of 91.93% at pH = 11 with a pollutant concentration of 0.5 mg/L and a catalyst dose of 5 mg within 8 h under ideal circumstances. The RSM model was determined to be the most convincible with an R 2 value of 0.99 and a probability value (P-value) of 0.0033, respectively, with a agreeable projected and actual values. Background: An allergic reaction is the immune system's overreacting to a previously encountered, typically benign molecule, frequently a protein. Allergy reactions can result in rashes, itching, mucous membrane swelling, asthma, coughing, and other bizarre symptoms. To anticipate allergies, a wide range of principles and methods have been applied in bioinformatics. The sequence similarity approach's positive predictive value is very low and ineffective for methods based on FAO/WHO criteria, making it difficult to predict possible allergens., Method: This work advocated the use of a deep learning model LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) to overcome the limitations of traditional approaches and machine learning lower performance models in predicting the allergenicity of dietary proteins. A total of 2,427 allergens and 2,427 non-allergens, from a variety of sources, including the Central Science Laboratory and the NCBI are used. The data was divided 80:20 for training and testing purposes. These techniques have all been implemented in Python. To describe the protein sequences of allergens and non-allergens, five E-descriptors were used. E1 (hydrophilic character of peptides), E2 (length), E3(propensity to form helices), E4(abundance and dispersion), and E5 (propensity of beta strands) are used to make the variable-length protein sequence to uniform length using ACC transformation. A total of eight machine learning techniques have been taken into consideration., Results: The Gaussian Naive Bayes as accuracy of 64.14 %, Radius Neighbour's Classifier with 49.2 %, Bagging Classifier was 85.8 %, ADA Boost was 76.9 %, Linear Discriminant Analysis has 76.13 %, Quadratic Discriminant Analysis was 84.2 %, Extra Tree Classifier was 90%, and LSTM is 91.5 %., Conclusion: As the LSTM, has an AUC value of 91.5 % is regarded best in predicting allergens. Background: Mobile health (mHealth) interventions for weight management can result in weight loss outcomes comparable to in-person treatments. However, there is little information on implementing these treatments in real-world settings., Objective: This work aimed to answer two implementation research questions related to mHealth for weight management: (1) what are barriers and facilitators to mHealth adoption (initial use) and engagement (continued use)? and (2) what are patient beliefs about the appropriateness (ie, perceived fit, relevance, or compatibility) of mHealth for weight management?, Methods: We conducted semistructured interviews with patients with obesity at a single facility in an integrated health care system (the Veterans Health Administration). All participants had been referred to a new mHealth program, which included access to a live coach. We performed a rapid qualitative analysis of interviews to identify themes related to the adoption of, engagement with, and appropriateness of mHealth for weight management., Results: We interviewed 24 veterans, seven of whom used the mHealth program. Almost all participants were ≥45 years of age and two-thirds were White. Rapid analysis identified three themes: (1) coaching both facilitates and prevents mHealth adoption and engagement by promoting accountability but leading to guilt among those not meeting goals; (2) preferences regarding the mode of treatment delivery, usability, and treatment content were barriers to mHealth appropriateness and adoption, including preferences for in-person care and a dislike of self-monitoring; and (3) a single invitation was not sufficient to facilitate adoption of a new mHealth program. Themes were unrelated to participants' age, race, or ethnicity., Conclusions: In a study assessing real-world use of mHealth in a group of middle-aged and older adults, we found that-despite free access to mHealth with a live coach-most did not complete the registration process. Our findings suggest that implementing mHealth for weight management requires more than one information session. Findings also suggest that focusing on the coaching relationship and how users' lives and goals change over time may be an important way to facilitate engagement and improved health. Most participants thought mHealth was appropriate for weight management, with some nevertheless preferring in-person care. Therefore, the best way to guarantee equitable care will be to ensure multiple routes to achieving the same behavioral health goals. Veterans Health Administration patients have the option of using mHealth for weight management, but can also attend group weight management programs or single-session nutrition classes or access fitness facilities. Polymer photonic circuits offer a versatile platform for various applications, including communication, sensing and optical signal processing. Though polymers offer broadband, linear and nonlinear optical properties, the coupling between an optical fibre and a polymer waveguide has been a challenge. In this work, we propose and demonstrate a wafer-scale vertical coupling scheme for polymer waveguides. The scheme uses a silicon nitride grating coupler with an inverse taper to couple between an optical fibre and a SU8 polymer waveguide. We demonstrate a maximum coupling efficiency of -3.55 dB in the C-band and -2.92 dB in the L-band with a 3-dB bandwidth of 74 and 80 nm, respectively. A detailed design and simulation, fabrication, and characterisation results are presented. The scheme demonstrates a scalable and efficient surface grating approach for polymer photonic integrated circuits.

We present a compact, highly sensitive and scalable on-chip photonic vibration measurement scheme for vibration sensing. The scheme uses a silicon photonic diffraction-grating based sensor integrated underneath a silicon cantilever. We demonstrate a static and dynamic measurement sensitivity (ΔT/Δgap) of 0.6 % change in intensity per nm displacement. The electrostatically driven dynamic response measurement of the grating based sensor shows an excellent agreement with commercial Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LDV) measurement. We demonstrate the thermo-mechanical noise measurement on the cantilever in ambience, which is verified using LDV. A minimum displacement of 1.9 pm is measured with a displacement sensitivity of 10 μW/nm for a measurement bandwidth of 16 Hz. The demonstrated sensitivity is 2 orders of magnitude better than that obtained from measurements of static displacement. We also present a detailed 2D-FDTD simulation and optimization of the grating-based sensor to achieve maximum displacement sensitivity.

Silicon Nitride (SiN) is emerging as a promising material for a variety of integrated photonic applications. Given its low index contrast however, a key challenge remains to design efficient couplers for the numerous platforms in SiN photonics portfolio. Using a combination of bottom reflector and a chirp generating algorithm, we propose and demonstrate high efficiency, grating couplers on two distinct SiN platforms. For a partially etched grating on 500 nm thick SiN, a calculated peak efficiency of -0.5 dB/coupler is predicted, while for a fully etched grating on 400 nm thick SiN, an efficiency of -0.4 dB/coupler is predicted. Experimentally measured coupling efficiencies are observed to be -1.17 and -1.24 dB/coupler for the partial and fully etched grating couplers respectively in the C-L band region. Furthermore, through numerical simulations, it is shown that the chirping algorithm can be implemented in eight additional combinations comprising SiN film thickness between 300-700 nm as well as alternate claddings, to achieve a per coupler loss between -0.33 to -0.65 dB.

We present a novel photonic wire-to-slot waveguide coupler in SOI. The phase matching between a wire and slot mode is achieved using a mode transformer. The architecture consists of a balanced 50/50 power splitter and a tunable phase matched taper combiner forming a slot waveguide. We show a theoretical wire-to-slot coupling efficiency of 99 % is achievable and experimentally, we demonstrate a coupling efficiency of 99 % in the 1550 nm band. Based on the coupling scheme, we also show excitation of a slot mode in a slotted ring resonator and verified the excitation through the thermo-optic response of the rings. We show a nearly athermal behaviour of a PMMA filled slot ring with a thermo-optic response of 12.8 pm/°C compare to 43.5 pm/°C for an air clad slot waveguide.

To evaluate the effect of vanillin on the lipid profile of high fat diet induced hyperlipidemia in rats, the hyperlipidemia was induced by feeding cholesterol-rich high fat diet for 45 days in wistar rats of either sex. The reduction in the triglycerides and VLDL-C was significant at 200 & 400 mg/kg dose of vanillin compared to atorvastatin group. Reduction in total cholesterol was significant at 200 and 400 mg/kg doses compared to hyperlipidemic control. The results demonstrate that vanillin at a dose of 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight lowers the serum triglyceride, VLDL-C and total cholesterol level significantly in high fat diet induced hyperlipidemic rats. However there was no significant effect on the lipid profile at 100 mg/kg dose. There were no statistically significant changes in the HDL-C and LDL-C levels at any of the given doses.
