Colorectal polyps are structural abnormalities of the gastrointestinal tract that can potentially become cancerous in some cases. The study introduces a novel framework for colorectal polyp segmentation named the Multi-Scale and Multi-Path Cascaded Convolution Network (MMCC-Net), aimed at addressing the limitations of existing models, such as inadequate spatial dependence representation and the absence of multi-level feature integration during the decoding stage by integrating multi-scale and multi-path cascaded convolutional techniques and enhances feature aggregation through dual attention modules, skip connections, and a feature enhancer. MMCC-Net achieves superior performance in identifying polyp areas at the pixel level. The Proposed MMCC-Net was tested across six public datasets and compared against eight SOTA models to demonstrate its efficiency in polyp segmentation. The MMCC-Net's performance shows Dice scores with confidence intervals ranging between (77.08, 77.56) and (94.19, 94.71) and Mean Intersection over Union (MIoU) scores with confidence intervals ranging from (72.20, 73.00) to (89.69, 90.53) on the six databases. These results highlight the model's potential as a powerful tool for accurate and efficient polyp segmentation, contributing to early detection and prevention strategies in colorectal cancer.

In medical imaging, efficient segmentation of colon polyps plays a pivotal role in minimally invasive solutions for colorectal cancer. This study introduces a novel approach employing two parallel encoder branches within a network for polyp segmentation. One branch of the encoder incorporates the dual convolution blocks that have the capability to maintain feature information over increased depths, and the other block embraces the single convolution block with the addition of the previous layer's feature, offering diversity in feature extraction within the encoder, combining them before transpose layers with a depth-wise concatenation operation. Our model demonstrated superior performance, surpassing several established deep-learning architectures on the Kvasir and CVC-ClinicDB datasets, achieved a Dice score of 0.919, a mIoU of 0.866 for the Kvasir dataset, and a Dice score of 0.931 and a mIoU of 0.891 for the CVC-ClinicDB. The visual and quantitative results highlight the efficacy of our model, potentially setting a new model in medical image segmentation.

Multimodal deepfakes involving audiovisual manipulations are a growing threat because they are difficult to detect with the naked eye or using unimodal deep learningbased forgery detection methods. Audiovisual forensic models, while more capable than unimodal models, require large training datasets and are computationally expensive for training and inference. Furthermore, these models lack interpretability and often do not generalize well to unseen manipulations. In this study, we examine the detection capabilities of a large language model (LLM) (i.e., ChatGPT) to identify and account for any possible visual and auditory artifacts and manipulations in audiovisual deepfake content. Extensive experiments are conducted on videos from a benchmark multimodal deepfake dataset to evaluate the detection performance of ChatGPT and compare it with the detection capabilities of state-of-the-art multimodal forensic models and humans. Experimental results demonstrate the importance of domain knowledge and prompt engineering for video forgery detection tasks using LLMs. Unlike approaches based on end-to-end learning, ChatGPT can account for spatial and spatiotemporal artifacts and inconsistencies that may exist within or across modalities. Additionally, we discuss the limitations of ChatGPT for multimedia forensic tasks.

Deep Learning has been successfully applied in diverse fields, and its impact on deepfake detection is no exception. Deepfakes are fake yet realistic synthetic content that can be used deceitfully for political impersonation, phishing, slandering, or spreading misinformation. Despite extensive research on unimodal deepfake detection, identifying complex deepfakes through joint analysis of audio and visual streams remains relatively unexplored. To fill this gap, this survey first provides an overview of audiovisual deepfake generation techniques, applications, and their consequences, and then provides a comprehensive review of state-of-the-art methods that combine audio and visual modalities to enhance detection accuracy, summarizing and critically analyzing their strengths and limitations. Furthermore, we discuss existing open source datasets for a deeper understanding, which can contribute to the research community and provide necessary information to beginners who want to analyze deep learning-based audiovisual methods for video forensics. By bridging the gap between unimodal and multimodal approaches, this paper aims to improve the effectiveness of deepfake detection strategies and guide future research in cybersecurity and media integrity.

The proliferation of smartphones and other mobile devices provides a unique opportunity to make Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) accessible to everyone in the form of an application empowered by low-cost Machine/Deep Learning (ML/DL) models to enhance road safety. For the critical feature of Collision Avoidance in Mobile ADAS, lightweight Deep Neural Networks (DNN) for object detection exist, but conventional pixel-wise depth/distance estimation DNNs are vastly more computationally expensive making them unsuitable for a real-time application on resource-constrained devices. In this paper, we present a distance estimation model, DECADE, that processes each detector output instead of constructing pixel-wise depth/disparity maps. In it, we propose a pose estimation DNN to estimate allocentric orientation of detections to supplement the distance estimation DNN in its prediction of distance using bounding box features. We demonstrate that these modules can be attached to any detector to extend object detection with fast distance estimation. Evaluation of the proposed modules with attachment to and fine-tuning on the outputs of the YOLO object detector on the KITTI 3D Object Detection dataset achieves state-of-the-art performance with 1.38 meters in Mean Absolute Error and 7.3% in Mean Relative Error in the distance range of 0-150 meters. This study uses the Krori-Barua type metric to represent hybrid stars within the $f(Q)$ theory of gravity. We postulate that the hybrid star also contains strange quark matter in addition to regular baryonic matter. To investigate the physical viability of the hybrid star model, we present the graphical behavior of the energy density, radial pressure, and tangential pressure, equation of state parameters, anisotropy, and stability analysis, respectively, by choosing the compact star EXO 1785-248 with a mass of $1.3_{-0.2}^{+0.2}~M_{\odot}$ and radius $8.849_{-0.4}^{+0.4}$ km with five different values of the coupling constants as $a=2$, $a=4$, $a=6$, $a=8$, and $a=10$. The maximum allowed masses and corresponding radii have been calculated using the $M-R$ curve for three different coupling parameter '$a$' values which match the observational data of three distinct compact stars, namely LMC X-4, SMC X-1, and 4U 1538-52. There is a need for empathetic and coherent responses in automated chatbot-facilitated psychotherapy sessions. This study addresses the challenge of enhancing the emotional and contextual understanding of large language models (LLMs) in psychiatric applications. We introduce a novel framework that integrates multiple emotion lexicons, including NRC Emotion Lexicon, VADER, WordNet, and SentiWordNet, with state-of-the-art LLMs such as LLAMA 2, Flan-T5, ChatGPT 3.0, and ChatGPT 4.0. The primary dataset comprises over 2,000 therapy session transcripts from the Counseling and Psychotherapy database, covering discussions on anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction. We segment the transcripts into smaller chunks, enhancing them with lexical features and computing embeddings using BERT, GPT-3, and RoBERTa to capture semantic and emotional nuances. These embeddings are stored in a FAISS vector database, enabling efficient similarity search and clustering based on cosine similarity. Upon user query, the most relevant segments are retrieved and provided as context to the LLMs, significantly improving the models' ability to generate empathetic and contextually appropriate responses. Experimental evaluations demonstrate that in-corporating emotion lexicons enhances empathy, coherence, informativeness, and fluency scores. Our findings highlight the critical role of emotional embeddings in improving LLM performance for psychotherapy.

We introduce NimbleD, an efficient self-supervised monocular depth estimation learning framework that incorporates supervision from pseudo-labels generated by a large vision model. This framework does not require camera intrinsics, enabling large-scale pre-training on publicly available videos. Our straightforward yet effective learning strategy significantly enhances the performance of fast and lightweight models without introducing any overhead, allowing them to achieve performance comparable to state-of-the-art self-supervised monocular depth estimation models. This advancement is particularly beneficial for virtual and augmented reality applications requiring low latency inference. This paper is devoted to studying the optical and thermal geometrical properties of Hot, NUT-KerrNewman-Kasuya-AdS black hole (BH). This BH is characterized by the NUT charge and a parameter Q that comprises the electric and magnetic charge. We compute the image of the BH shadow in two types: 1) at infinity, 2) at specific limit by analytical approach. We also investigate the effect of Nut, spin, inclination angle, and cosmological constant on the shape of shadow. We analyze that for type 1, the shadow in increasing for higher values of NUT charge, the cosmological constant, rotation parameters, and inclination angle, while for type 2, by increasing these parameters, the circular symmetry of the image of the BH shadow variate. Moreover, we discuss well-known thermal geometries such as Weinhold, Ruppeiner, HPEM, and Quevedo case I & II spacetime. It is found that Ruppeiner , HPEM and Quevedo (II) formulations provide physical information about the microscopic structure as compared to Weinhold and Quevedo (I) geometries of Hot NUT-Kerr-Newman-Kasuya-AdS BH. Our findings provides distinctive characteristics in the shadow and thermal geometries of this BH as compare to other BH types.

In the realm of deploying Machine Learning-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ML-ADAS) into real-world scenarios, adverse weather conditions pose a significant challenge. Conventional ML models trained on clear weather data falter when faced with scenarios like extreme fog or heavy rain, potentially leading to accidents and safety hazards. This paper addresses this issue by proposing a novel approach: employing a Denoising Deep Neural Network as a preprocessing step to transform adverse weather images into clear weather images, thereby enhancing the robustness of ML-ADAS systems. The proposed method eliminates the need for retraining all subsequent Depp Neural Networks (DNN) in the ML-ADAS pipeline, thus saving computational resources and time. Moreover, it improves driver visualization, which is critical for safe navigation in adverse weather conditions. By leveraging the UNet architecture trained on an augmented KITTI dataset with synthetic adverse weather images, we develop the Weather UNet (WUNet) DNN to remove weather artifacts. Our study demonstrates substantial performance improvements in object detection with WUNet preprocessing under adverse weather conditions. The reliable diagnosis of cardiac conditions through electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis critically depends on accurately detecting P waves and measuring the PR interval. However, achieving consistent and generalizable diagnoses across diverse populations presents challenges due to the inherent global variations observed in ECG signals. This paper is focused on applying the Q learning reinforcement algorithm to the various ECG datasets available in the PhysioNet/Computing in Cardiology Challenge (CinC). Five ECG beats, including Normal Sinus Rhythm, Atrial Flutter, Atrial Fibrillation, 1st Degree Atrioventricular Block, and Left Atrial Enlargement, are included to study variations of P waves and PR Interval on Lead II and Lead V1. Q-Agent classified 71,672 beat samples in 8,867 patients with an average accuracy of 90.4% and only 9.6% average hamming loss over misclassification. The average classification time at the 100th episode containing around 40,000 samples is 0.04 seconds. An average training reward of 344.05 is achieved at an alpha, gamma, and SoftMax temperature rate of 0.001, 0.9, and 0.1, respectively.

Comprehending how humans process visual information in dynamic settings is crucial for psychology and designing user-centered interactions. While mobile eye-tracking systems combining egocentric video and gaze signals can offer valuable insights, manual analysis of these recordings is time-intensive. In this work, we present a novel human-centered learning algorithm designed for automated object recognition within mobile eye-tracking settings. Our approach seamlessly integrates an object detector with a spatial relation-aware inductive message-passing network (I-MPN), harnessing node profile information and capturing object correlations. Such mechanisms enable us to learn embedding functions capable of generalizing to new object angle views, facilitating rapid adaptation and efficient reasoning in dynamic contexts as users navigate their environment. Through experiments conducted on three distinct video sequences, our interactive-based method showcases significant performance improvements over fixed training/testing algorithms, even when trained on considerably smaller annotated samples collected through user feedback. The emergence of contemporary deepfakes has attracted significant attention in machine learning research, as artificial intelligence (AI) generated synthetic media increases the incidence of misinterpretation and is difficult to distinguish from genuine content. Currently, machine learning techniques have been extensively studied for automatically detecting deepfakes. However, human perception has been less explored. Malicious deepfakes could ultimately cause public and social problems. Can we humans correctly perceive the authenticity of the content of the videos we watch? The answer is obviously uncertain; therefore, this paper aims to evaluate the human ability to discern deepfake videos through a subjective study. We present our findings by comparing human observers to five state-ofthe-art audiovisual deepfake detection models. To this end, we used gamification concepts to provide 110 participants (55 native English speakers and 55 non-native English speakers) with a webbased platform where they could access a series of 40 videos (20 real and 20 fake) to determine their authenticity. Each participant performed the experiment twice with the same 40 videos in different random orders. The videos are manually selected from the FakeAVCeleb dataset. We found that all AI models performed better than humans when evaluated on the same 40 videos. The study also reveals that while deception is not impossible, humans tend to overestimate their detection capabilities. Our experimental results may help benchmark human versus machine performance, advance forensics analysis, and enable adaptive countermeasures.

We present pore-resolved Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) of turbulent flows grazing over acoustic liners with aerodynamically and/or acoustically optimized orifice configurations. Our DNS explore a large parameter space, studying various families of orifice geometries, including the influence of orifice shape, orientation, and the number of orifices. All flow cases show an increase in drag compared to the smooth wall. However, the added drag can be reduced by as much as $\sim$55\% as compared to conventional acoustic liners by simply altering the shape of the orifice or its orientation, in the case of a non-circular orifice. Complementary acoustic simulations demonstrate that this reduced drag may be achieved while maintaining the same noise reduction properties over a wide range of frequencies.

Semi-supervised 3D object detection can benefit from the promising pseudo-labeling technique when labeled data is limited. However, recent approaches have overlooked the impact of noisy pseudo-labels during training, despite efforts to enhance pseudo-label quality through confidence-based filtering. In this paper, we examine the impact of noisy pseudo-labels on IoU-based target assignment and propose the Reliable Student framework, which incorporates two complementary approaches to mitigate errors. First, it involves a class-aware target assignment strategy that reduces false negative assignments in difficult classes. Second, it includes a reliability weighting strategy that suppresses false positive assignment errors while also addressing remaining false negatives from the first step. The reliability weights are determined by querying the teacher network for confidence scores of the student-generated proposals. Our work surpasses the previous state-of-the-art on KITTI 3D object detection benchmark on point clouds in the semi-supervised setting. On 1% labeled data, our approach achieves a 6.2% AP improvement for the pedestrian class, despite having only 37 labeled samples available. This paper discusses the results of the third edition of the Monocular Depth Estimation Challenge (MDEC). The challenge focuses on zero-shot generalization to the challenging SYNS-Patches dataset, featuring complex scenes in natural and indoor settings. As with the previous edition, methods can use any form of supervision, i.e. supervised or self-supervised. The challenge received a total of 19 submissions outperforming the baseline on the test set: 10 among them submitted a report describing their approach, highlighting a diffused use of foundational models such as Depth Anything at the core of their method. Depression is a significant issue nowadays. As per the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2023, over 280 million individuals are grappling with depression. This is a huge number; if not taken seriously, these numbers will increase rapidly. About 4.89 billion individuals are social media users. People express their feelings and emotions on platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Instagram, etc. These platforms contain valuable information which can be used for research purposes. Considerable research has been conducted across various social media platforms. However, certain limitations persist in these endeavors. Particularly, previous studies were only focused on detecting depression and the intensity of depression in tweets. Also, there existed inaccuracies in dataset labeling. In this research work, five types of depression (Bipolar, major, psychotic, atypical, and postpartum) were predicted using tweets from the Twitter database based on lexicon labeling. Explainable AI was used to provide reasoning by highlighting the parts of tweets that represent type of depression. Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) was used for feature extraction and training. Machine learning and deep learning methodologies were used to train the model. Downsampling images and labels, often necessitated by limited resources or to expedite network training, leads to the loss of small objects and thin boundaries. This undermines the segmentation network's capacity to interpret images accurately and predict detailed labels, resulting in diminished performance compared to processing at original resolutions. This situation exemplifies the trade-off between efficiency and accuracy, with higher downsampling factors further impairing segmentation outcomes. Preserving information during downsampling is especially critical for medical image segmentation tasks. To tackle this challenge, we introduce a novel method named Edge-preserving Probabilistic Downsampling (EPD). It utilizes class uncertainty within a local window to produce soft labels, with the window size dictating the downsampling factor. This enables a network to produce quality predictions at low resolutions. Beyond preserving edge details more effectively than conventional nearest-neighbor downsampling, employing a similar algorithm for images, it surpasses bilinear interpolation in image downsampling, enhancing overall performance. Real-time traffic flow prediction holds significant importance within the domain of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The task of achieving a balance between prediction precision and computational efficiency presents a significant challenge. In this article, we present a novel deep-learning method called Federated Learning and Asynchronous Graph Convolutional Network (FLAGCN). Our framework incorporates the principles of asynchronous graph convolutional networks with federated learning to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of real-time traffic flow prediction. The FLAGCN model employs a spatial-temporal graph convolution technique to asynchronously address spatio-temporal dependencies within traffic data effectively. To efficiently handle the computational requirements associated with this deep learning model, this study used a graph federated learning technique known as GraphFL. This approach is designed to facilitate the training process. The experimental results obtained from conducting tests on two distinct traffic datasets demonstrate that the utilization of FLAGCN leads to the optimization of both training and inference durations while maintaining a high level of prediction accuracy. FLAGCN outperforms existing models with significant improvements by achieving up to approximately 6.85% reduction in RMSE, 20.45% reduction in MAPE, compared to the best-performing existing models., Comment: I request to withdraw my paper from arXiv due to significant updates and improvements identified post-submission.
