Abstract Introduction The integrated care pathways for atopic dermatitis (AD‐ICPs) aim to bridge the gap between existing AD treatment evidence‐based guidelines and expert opinion based on daily practice by offering a structured multidisciplinary plan for patient management of AD. ICPs have the potential to enhance guideline recommendations by combining interventions and aspects from different guidelines, integrating quality assurance, and describing co‐ordination of care. Most importantly, patients can enter the ICPs at any level depending on AD severity, resources available in their country, and economic factors such as differences in insurance reimbursement systems. Methods The GA2LEN ADCARE network and partners as well as all stakeholders, abbreviated as the AD‐ICPs working group, were involved in the discussion and preparation of the AD ICPs during a series of subgroup workshops and meetings in years 2020 and 2021, after which the document was circulated within all GAL2EN ADCARE centres. Results The AD‐ICPs outline the diagnostic procedures, possible co‐morbidities, different available treatment options including differential approaches for the pediatric population, and the role of the pharmacists and other stakeholders, as well as remaining unmet needs in the management of AD. Conclusion The AD‐ICPs provide a multidisciplinary plan for improved diagnosis, treatment, and patient feedback in AD management, as well as addressing critical unmet needs, including improved access to care, training specialists, implementation of educational programs, assessment on the impact of climate change, and fostering a personalised treatment approach. By focusing on these key areas, the initiative aims to pave the way for a brighter future in the management of AD.

Abstract Background In patients with atopic dermatitis (AD), Staphylococcus aureus frequently colonizes lesions and is hypothesized to be linked to disease severity and progression. Treatments that reduce S. aureus colonization without significantly affecting the skin commensal microbiota are needed. Methods and findings In this study, we tested ATx201 (niclosamide), a small molecule, on its efficacy to reduce S. aureus and propensity to evolve resistance in vitro. Various cutaneous formulations were then tested in a superficial skin infection model. Finally, a Phase 2 randomized, double‐blind and placebo‐controlled trial was performed to investigate the impact of ATx201 OINTMENT 2% on S. aureus colonization and skin microbiome composition in patients with mild‐to‐severe AD (EudraCT:2016‐003501‐33). ATx201 has a narrow minimal inhibitory concentration distribution (.125–.5 μg/ml) consistent with its mode of action – targeting the proton motive force effectively stopping cell growth. In murine models, ATx201 can effectively treat superficial skin infections of methicillin‐resistant S. aureus. In a Phase 2 trial in patients with mild‐to‐severe AD (N = 36), twice‐daily treatment with ATx201 OINTMENT 2% effectively reduces S. aureus colonization in quantitative colony forming unit (CFU) analysis (primary endpoint: 94.4% active vs. 38.9% vehicle success rate, p = .0016) and increases the Shannon diversity of the skin microbiome at day 7 significantly compared to vehicle. Conclusion These results suggest that ATx201 could become a new treatment modality as a decolonizing agent.

Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps is affecting up to 3% of Western populations. About 10% of patients with nasal polyps also suffer from asthma and intolerance to aspirin, a syndrome called aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease. Although eosinophilic inflammation is predominant in polyps of both diseases, phenotypic differences in the tissue-derived microenvironment, elucidating disease-specific characteristics, have not yet been identified. We sought to obtain detailed information about phenotypic and transcriptional differences in epithelial and immune cells in polyps of aspirin-tolerant and intolerant patients. Cytokine profiles in nasal secretions and serum of patients suffering from aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (n = 10) or chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (n = 9) were assessed using a multiplex mesoscale discovery assay. After enrichment for immune cell subsets by flow cytometry, we performed transcriptomic profiling by employing single-cell RNA sequencing. Aspirin-intolerant patients displayed significantly elevated IL-5 and CCL17 levels in nasal secretions corresponding to a more pronounced eosinophilic type 2 inflammation. Transcriptomic profiling revealed that epithelial and mast cells not only complement one another in terms of gene expression associated with the 15-lipoxygenase pathway but also show a clear type 2-associated inflammatory phenotype as identified by the upregulation of POSTN, CCL26, and IL13 in patients with aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease. Interestingly, we also observed cellular stress responses indicated by an increase of MTRNR2L12, MTRNR2L8, and NEAT1 across all immune cell subsets in this disease entity. In conclusion, our findings support the hypothesis that epithelial and mast cells act in concert as potential drivers of the pathogenesis of the aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease.

La investigación que se presenta es resultado del trabajo realizado a partir de las clases de Español Literatura en onceno grado, en preuniversitario. Se tiene en cuenta que conjuntamente con el avance cognitivo se desarrollen valores inherentes a la formación plena del ser humano. En este sentido, se plantea como objetivo contribuir a la formación del valor responsabilidad desde el empleo de los textos martianos en onceno grado. Se utilizaron métodos del nivel teórico, empírico y estadístico que permitieron a través del diseño investigativo de experimento preexperimental, constatar resultados satisfactorios en la formación de los valores a través de lecturas martianas.

Este artigo faz uma reflexão sobre o trabalho e o registro pictórico dos artistas integrantes das expedições científicas procurando esclarecer algumas das indagações quanto à fidelidade dessas produções diante das observações da natureza e dos costumes brasileiros, e revelar outra possibilidade de leitura de algumas obras interpretadas atualmente com um viés crítico ambiental. Apesar de muitos visitantes estrangeiros apresentarem obras sobre as terras brasileiras, limitamo-nos a mencionar Nicolas-Antoine Taunay e Jean-Baptiste Debret, membros da Missão Artística Francesa e fundadores da Academia Imperial de Belas Artes para fomentar a discussão quanto à fidelidade desses registros. Também descreveremos um comparativo entre Johann Moritz Rugendas e Hercule Florence por fazerem parte da Expedição de Langsdorff, e produzirem obras que evidenciam olhares, técnicas e concepções artísticas diferentes. Por fim apresentaremos interpretações do embate entre humano e natureza na obra de Manuel Araújo Porto Alegre e da denúncia e defesa ambiental na obra de Félix Taunay.

Carabidae são Coleoptera com a maioria de suas espécies apresentando hábito alimentar predatório. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi estudar a diversidade e abundância da família Carabidae (Coleoptera) em áreas de fragmento florestal e em áreas de reflorestamento de mata ciliar, evidenciando a importância deste grupo como indicador da biodiversidade em relação ao sucesso do reflorestamento. Os besouros foram amostrados por meio de armadilhas de solo pitfall, em fragmentos florestais e reflorestamentos de mata ciliar em três municípios do estado do Paraná. A abundância de Carabidae foi maior nos reflorestamentos de mata ciliar. A espécie Odontochila nodicornis (Dejean) foi, significativamente, a mais abundante e encontrada em todas as áreas estudadas. Houve similaridade da riqueza de carabídeos encontrada no fragmento florestal remanescente com a riqueza constatadas nos reflorestamentos, mesmo naqueles onde as coletas foram realizadas distante 3 Km do fragmento ou nas áreas de reflorestamento que não apresentavam conexão com o fragmento remanescente. Tetracha brasiliensis (Kirby) foi coletado quase que exclusivamente no reflorestamento sem conexão com o fragmento. Utilizando-se o teste de Kruskal-Wallis, não se constatou atratividade pelas diferentes iscas, no entanto verificou-se diferença significativa entre o número coletado nas armadilhas com iscas, quando comparado com o controle. A maior concentração de carabídeos coletados foi no período de dezembro a fevereiro, estação correspondente ao verão para a região estudada. A similaridade da riqueza de carabídeos encontrada entre os fragmentos de floresta e os reflorestamentos de mata ciliar, pode sugerir sucesso do método de reflorestamento, estando avançando para condições de característica primária. Diversity of Carabidae (Coleoptera) Samples in Areas of Riparian Reforestation and Forest Fragment, in the State of Paraná Abstract. Carabidae are Coleoptera whose most species have a predatory eating habit. The purpose of this paper was to study the diversity and abundance of Carabidae (Coleoptera) family in forest fragment areas and in reforestation areas of riparian vegetation, evidencing the importance of this group as a biodiversity indicator regarding the reforestation success. Beetles were sampled using soil pitfall traps in forest fragments and reforestation of riparian vegetation in three municipalities the state of Parana. The abundance of Carabidae was higher in riparian reforestation. The species Odontochila nodicornis (Dejean) was the most significantly abundant and found in all studied areas. There was a similarity in richness of Carabidae found in the remaining forest fragment, being the wealth found in reforestation, even where samples were collected 3km away from the fragment or in reforestation areas that did not have any connection with the remaining fragment. Tetracha brasiliensis (Kirby) was almost exclusively collected in reforestation unrelated to the fragment. Using the Kruskal-Wallis test, it was not noted any attraction of different baits, but there was a significant difference between the collection number in baited traps compared with the control. The highest concentration of Carabidae was collected from December to February, period corresponding to the summer season for the studied region. The similarity on the richness of Carabidae found between forest fragments and reforestation of riparian vegetation may suggest the reforestation method success, being able to advance to the primary characteristic.
