The combined treatment with calcipotriol (Cal) and betamethasone dipropionate (BDP) has emerged as the leading anti-psoriatic topical treatment. Fixed-dose Cal/BDP is available in different formulations, including ointment, gel, foam, and cream. This review examines the mechanism of action of Cal/BDP underlying its therapeutic effect and compiles the evidence regarding its efficacy and safety compared to monotherapy with topical corticosteroids. The dual-action of Cal/BDP targets the inflammatory pathways and abnormal keratinocyte proliferation, both of them fundamental mechanisms of psoriasis pathogenesis. A large number of randomized, double-blind studies support Cal/BDP superiority over topical corticosteroids, demonstrating its broad efficacy across several degrees of psoriasis severity and its capability to provide early significant clinical improvements. This increased efficacy is achieved without negative effects on the safety profile, since the incidence of adverse effects reported with Cal/BDP is usually similar to that of BDP and even lower than that of Cal alone. The combination therapy rapid onset of action, coupled with a simplified dosing regimen, has been identified as crucial for improving long-term adherence and patient outcomes. Erosive oral lichen planus (EOLP) represents a significant challenge in dental and medical management due to its chronic inflammatory nature, painful symptoms, and impact on quality of life. This study aims to evaluate the current diagnostic approach with novel non-invasive techniques, such as dermoscopy, and also the landscape of treatment options for EOLP, focusing on its efficacy, safety, and the challenges that it present in clinical practice. Through a comprehensive literature review, we explored the use of topical corticosteroids, systemic immunosuppressants, biologics, and Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors in treating EOLP, alongside examining patient compliance, psychological impacts, and the risk of adverse effects and recurrence. Our findings reveal that while topical corticosteroids are the cornerstone of EOLP treatment, offering symptomatic relief, their long-term use is limited by side effects and tolerance development. Systemic therapies and biologics provide alternatives for refractory cases but necessitate careful adverse effect monitoring. JAK inhibitors show promise as an innovative treatment avenue but require more evidence on long-term safety and efficacy. This study highlights the necessity of personalized treatment approaches due to the variable disease course and response to treatment, underscoring the importance of a multidisciplinary strategy in managing EOLP. Background: Textile is one of the important sectors in the Indian economy. The use of synthetic chemicals is maximum during the wet processing technique, which consists of dyeing, printing and finishing. Aims and Objectives: This study was conducted to find out the prevalence of occupational dermatological symptoms among the workers employed in the dyeing and printing unit of the textile industry. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study, with a sample of 242 workers, was conducted in three different dyeing and printing factories. The workers were interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire adapted from the Nordic Occupational Skin Questionnaire. Results: The prevalence of dermatological symptoms on the hands was found to be 51.7%. The various pattern of lesions included redness in 0.4% to itching in 26% of dyeing and printing workers. Those working for >5 years had 2.21 times higher risk as compared to those working for ≤5 years Odds Ratio (OR): 2.21; 95% Confidence Interval (CI): 1.19–4.11). Similarly, those working in the dyeing section were at 2.94 times higher risk as compared to those working in the printing section (OR: 2.94; 95% CI: 1.58–5.47). Conclusion: The workers working in the printing and dyeing industry were at risk of developing skin lesions, which can partly be attributed to reactive chemicals used and partly to poor handling practices of the workers. Use of dyes as well as colorants in industrial processes has extensively increased. Effluents from various industries such as textile, paint, food, etc. are reported to have a diverse range of colorants. The effluents from these industries are often released into natural water bodies, causing serious water and environmental pollution, to which humans and other species are constantly exposed. Continued changes in climate have also affected water availability for people around the world. Thus, advanced treatments and removal of harmful contaminants from municipal and industrial wastewater are becoming increasingly important. Removal of dyes and colorants from wastewater can be done in a variety of ways, including physical, chemical, and biological treatments. These technologies, however, differ in terms of efficiency, cost, and environmental effect. There are many technological and economic challenges for the wastewater treatment methods currently available. The search for the most suitable strategy for successful degradation or removal of dyes from effluents is an urgent requirement. Previously published research suggests that the use of enzymes for dye removal is a more economic and effective strategy as compared to traditional techniques. Nanoparticles, with their exceptional physicochemical features, have the potential to tackle the problem of wastewater purification in a less energy-intensive way. However, extensive standardization would be a necessity for the use of different nanoparticles. Therefore, intense research in the use of enzymes and nanoparticle-based technologies may provide much needed technological solution for the remediation of a diverse range of dyes from wastewater. Introduction: Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory disease, which ranges in severity from mild to severe. Although topical therapies are frequently used to treat mild disease, they are not routinely used to treat patients with moderate-to-severe disease who have a larger proportion of their body surface area (BSA) affected (≥ 5% BSA). Based on well-controlled trials in adults with mild-to-severe disease, fixed-dose combination calcipotriol 50 μg/g + betamethasone dipropionate 0.5 mg/g (Cal/BD) cutaneous foam has been approved (Enstilar®, LEO Pharma) in the USA and EU for the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris for up to 4 weeks in adults. In this post-hoc subgroup analysis, we used pooled data from phase II/III trials to investigate the efficacy and safety of Cal/BD cutaneous foam in patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis. Methods: Patients included in this analysis had psoriasis affecting 5–15% BSA and a physician's global assessment (PGA) ≥ 3. Endpoints included: treatment success by PGA (rating: clear/almost clear), patient's global assessment (PaGA) at week 4 (rating: clear/very mild) and safety. Results: A total of 340 patients in the three randomized trials met the BSA/PGA inclusion criteria, of whom 254 were treated with Cal/BD foam and 86 with vehicle foam. Treatment success by PGA and PaGA at week 4 was achieved in 143 (58.1%) and 138 (56.1%) patients receiving Cal/BD foam, respectively, versus three (3.6%) and 14 (16.7%) patients receiving vehicle foam. Sixty-six adverse events (AEs) occurred in 47 (18.5%) patients receiving Cal/BD foam and 11 AEs occurred in 11 (12.8%) patients receiving vehicle foam. Three severe AEs and 15 non-serious treatment-related AEs occurred in patients receiving Cal/BD foam. Conclusion: The results from three clinical trials analyzed together show that topical Cal/BD foam is well tolerated and efficacious for treating patients with moderate-to-severe disease. Topical therapy as monotherapy is useful in psoriasis patients with mild disease. Topical agents are also used as adjuvant for moderate-to-severe disease who are being concurrently treated with either ultraviolet light or systemic medications. Emollients are useful adjuncts to the treatment of psoriasis. Use of older topical agents such as anthralin and coal tar has declined over the years. However, they are cheaper and can still be used for the treatment of difficult psoriasis refractory to conventional treatment. Salicylic acid can be used in combination with other topical therapies such as topical corticosteroids (TCS) and calcineurin inhibitors for the treatment of thick limited plaques to increase the absorption of the latter into the psoriatic plaques. Low- to mid-potent TCS are used in facial/flexural psoriasis and high potent over palmoplantar/thick psoriasis lesions. The addition of noncorticosteroid treatment can also facilitate the avoidance of long-term daily TCS. Tacrolimus and pimecrolimus can be used for the treatment of facial and intertriginous psoriasis. Tazarotene is indicated for stable plaque psoriasis usually in combination with other therapies such as TCS. Vitamin D analogs alone in combination with TCS are useful in stable plaques over limbs and palmoplantar psoriasis. Topical therapies for scalp psoriasis include TCS, Vitamin D analogs, salicylic acid, coal tar, and anthralin in various formulations such as solutions, foams, and shampoos. Introduction: Previous studies have demonstrated the superior efficacy of a novel aerosol foam formulation of fixed combination calcipotriene 0.005% (Cal) and betamethasone dipropionate 0.064% (BD), compared with the ointment formulation. The aim of this study is to ascertain whether enhanced bioavailability of the active ingredients due to supersaturation and/or occlusive properties can explain the observed greater clinical efficacy. Methods: Solubility and evaporation experiments were conducted to examine the abilities of Cal/BD aerosol foam ingredients to create a supersaturated environment. Optical microscopy, Raman imaging and X-ray powder diffraction were used to examine the physical state of Cal and BD in the formulations after application, and determine whether a supersaturated state remained stable for clinically relevant time periods. In vitro skin penetration and ex vivo biomarker assays were conducted to compare the skin penetration and bioavailability of Cal and BD from the aerosol foam and ointment formulations, respectively. Occlusive properties were examined via transepidermal water loss. Results: Solubility studies showed that Cal and BD solubility increased with increasing dimethyl ether (DME) content. Both active ingredients are completely dissolved in the final aerosol foam formulation. DME rapidly evaporates after spraying, and the amount was reduced to 0.5% of the initial amount after 2 min. This led to the formation of a supersaturated environment, where Cal and BD crystals were absent for at least 26 h after application. Cal/BD aerosol foam had significantly greater in vitro skin penetration and had increased bioavailability compared with Cal/BD ointment. Both formulations effectively occluded the skin. Conclusion: A stable supersaturated solution of Cal/BD in the aerosol foam leads to increased bioavailability and explains the improved clinical effect when compared to the Cal/BD ointment. We have attempted to determinate how three particular synthetic or semi-synthetic fabrics (that are serge, polycotton and spandex) may interact with the skin of Males, Females or Transsexuals (MtFs and/or FtMs), when these individuals put on these fibers directly on nude epidermis. Transsexuals are to be considered, in this seat, all the subjects that take on purpose the relative opposite hormones to try to change or determinately change their sex, that is Men who take estrogens and Women who take Testosterone to grow transgender. Hormonal influence is to be reputed the chief responsible cause of the occurrence of diverse cutaneous manifestations. Results are extremely suggestive and show that hormonal influence is actually the primary cause of histamine and bradikyne cascade, apt to evoke odd cutaneous manifestations in Man, Woman or Transgender, depending on the type, idest, if the transgender is MtF or FtM. Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory condition. The age of onset, chronicity, physical, and psychosocial consequences of the disease cause psoriasis to have a significant impact on patient quality of life. Scalp psoriasis is no different, and effective treatment results in an improvement in quality of life. Successful management of scalp psoriasis includes topical therapies that are acceptable to the patient for mild-to-moderate disease, and systemic therapies for recalcitrant or moderate-to-severe disease. The most effective topical therapies are corticosteroid products, or combination products with calcipotriol and corticosteroid. Newer vehicle options provide more attractive and pleasing products for patients and may improve adherence. Disperse dyes, which are used for colouring synthetic textile fibres, are well-known contact sensitisers. To investigate the outcome of patch-testing with a textile dye mix (TDM) at 7 dermatology clinics in Sweden, a TDM tested at 2 concentrations was included into the baseline series during one year. The mix consisted of Disperse (D) Blue 35, D Yellow 3, D Orange 1 and 3, D Red 1 and 17, all 1.0%, and D Blue 106 and D Blue 124, each 0.3% in the mix 6.6% and 1.0% each in the mix 8.0%. In 2,122 tested patients, contact allergy to the TDM at the concentration 8.0% was found in 2.8% and to the TDM at 6.6% in 2.5% of the patients. The contact allergy to the TDM could explain or contribute to the dermatitis in about 35% of the patients. One-bath dyeing procedures of wool fabric using aqueous extracts of plants - hibiscus, St. John's wort and marigold were investigated. On the basis of results obtained, it could be concluded that applied plant extracts have good reasons for commercial dyeing of wool fabrics designed for clothing that would not be a potential allergen during use, i.e. when in contact with human skin. The applied wool dyeing processes with plant flowers water extracts give a chance of commercialization of small plants for lesser batches, such as single examples and the like. The spectral characteristics lead to the conclusion that the dyeing occurs, with changes in shade, hue, and saturation of the dye. The dye exhaustion from the dyeing bath is slightly less (max 61%), which can be solved by using smaller baths and by addition of certain exhaustion improving agents. Spectral distribution of reflection curves are in correlation with the type of extracts and the mordant used as is indicated both by different spectral K/S values and CIEL*a*b* system parameters. At the same time, very good fastness characteristics of wool fabric dyeing are achieved. From environmental view-point it is a suitable replacement of synthetic dyes with "natural products", which may provide not only a strategy for reducing risks and pollutants but also opportunities for new markets and jobs developed by involving ecology in market policy. Introduction: Clothing can be a cause of occupational dermatitis. Frequent causes of clothing-related dermatological problems can be the fabric itself and/or chemical additives used in the laundering process, friction from certain fabrics excessively rubbing the skin, or heat retention from perspiration-soaked clothing in hot working environments. To the best of our knowledge, these are the first reported cases of miliaria rubra associated with prolonged use of flame resistant clothing in the medical literature.Case Presentation: We report 18 cases (14 men and 4 women, with an age range of 19 to 37 years) of moderate to severe skin irritation associated with wearing flame resistant clothing in hot arid environments (temperature range: 39 to 50°C, 5% to 25% relative humidity). We describe the medical history in detail of a 23-year-old Caucasian woman and a 31-year-old African-American man. A summary of the other 16 patients is also provided.Conclusions: These cases illustrate the potential serious nature of miliaria with superimposed Staphylococcus infections. All 18 patients fully recovered with topical skin treatment and modifications to their dress ensemble. Clothing, in particular blend fabrics, must be thoroughly laundered to adequately remove detergent residue. While in hot environments, individuals with sensitive skin should take the necessary precautions such as regular changing of clothing and good personal hygiene to ensure that their skin remains as dry and clean as possible. It is also important that they report to their health care provider as soon as skin irritation or rash appears to initiate any necessary medical procedures. Healthcare workers often suffer from occupational skin disease frequently caused by allergic sensitization. Therefore the patch-test results and important patient history items of 31,849 patients recorded between 1992 and 1995 in the 24 allergy departments participating in the Information Network of Departments of Dermatology (IVDK) were evaluated. Significantly increased sensitization rates common to the healthcare sector as a whole were found for the vaccine preservative thiomersal (12.6% vs. 4.9%), the surface and instrument disinfectants glutardialdehyde (9.9% vs. 2.6%), formaldehyde (3.6% vs. 2.1%) and glyoxal (4.2% vs. 1.4%), and for the compounds of the thiuram mix (6.7% vs. 2.6%) present in protective gloves. Formaldehyde seems to lose its importance, but glyoxal must be added to the list of occupational allergens in the healthcare sector. In addition, occupation-specific sensitization was observed, with fragrances in massage therapists (16.1% vs. 10.6%) and nurses (13.8% vs. 11.4%), as well as with methacrylates in dental technicians. The often assumed importance of drugs as type-IV allergens was not confirmed, at least in terms of quantity.
