Typha angustifolia L. (TA) pollen has been utilized as a traditional Chinese medicine for treating various internal and external traumas. Moreover, bioactive compounds possess diverse pharmacological activities. This study aims to evaluate the antiviral properties of TA based on its ability to generate bioenergy, capable of inhibiting viruses. TA pollens were extracted using water and ethanol solvents. These extracts were utilized to identify the phytochemical contents and correlate with the antioxidant activity via 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays. HPLC analysis was conducted to identify its electron-shuttling compositions. The bioenergy-generating characteristics were determined via microbial fuel cells. The water extract (TA-W) showed higher antioxidant activity due to a higher phenolic and flavonoid content compared to the ethanol extract (TA-E). Quercetin-3-O-(2G-α-L-rhamnosyl)-rutinoside, quercetin-3-O-neohesperidoside, and quercetin are the electron shuttles (ES) identified out of the 11 compounds. TA obtained a 1.39 ± 0.10 amplification factor of power generation that indicates potential bioenergy-generating and associated antiviral characteristic properties. The findings may provide a foundation for developing antiviral medications specifically designed to target virus-related diseases, while minimizing the risk of drug toxicity and reducing the costs of drug development. Simple Summary: Bipolar disorder is a psychiatric condition in which one prominent symptom is the regular occurrence of mood swings. Its root cause remains unclear; thus, this study was intended to provide new insights to better understand the genetics underlying such a disorder. Using samples obtained from three regions in the brain, it was found that some molecular and cellular mechanisms are involved in the disruption of neurobiological processes. The dysregulated expression of certain genes eventually leads to neurogenesis and neurotransmission impairment events in humans. Furthermore, these genes significant in the onset of bipolar disorder were identified and evaluated for the presence of variants, which may be targeted to engineer better curative treatment strategies for the disorder. Bipolar disorder (BPD) is a serious psychiatric condition that is characterized by the frequent shifting of mood patterns, ranging from manic to depressive episodes. Although there are already treatment strategies that aim at regulating the manifestations of this disorder, its etiology remains unclear and continues to be a question of interest within the scientific community. The development of RNA sequencing techniques has provided newer and better approaches to studying disorders at the transcriptomic level. Hence, using RNA-seq data, we employed intramodular connectivity analysis and network pharmacology assessment of disease-associated variants to elucidate the biological pathways underlying the complex nature of BPD. This study was intended to characterize the expression profiles obtained from three regions in the brain, which are the nucleus accumbens (nAcc), the anterior cingulate cortex (AnCg), and the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), provide insights into the specific roles of these regions in the onset of the disorder, and present potential targets for drug design and development. The nAcc was found to be highly associated with genes responsible for the deregulated transcription of neurotransmitters, while the DLPFC was greatly correlated with genes involved in the impairment of components crucial in neurotransmission. The AnCg did show association with some of the expressions, but the relationship was not as strong as the other two regions. Furthermore, disease-associated variants or single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified among the significant genes in BPD, which suggests the genetic interrelatedness of such a disorder and other mental illnesses. DRD2, GFRA2, and DCBLD1 were the genes with disease-associated variants expressed in the nAcc; ST8SIA2 and ADAMTS16 were the genes with disease-associated variants expressed in the AnCg; and FOXO3, ITGA9, CUBN, PLCB4, and RORB were the genes with disease-associated variants expressed in the DLPFC. Aside from unraveling the molecular and cellular mechanisms behind the expression of BPD, this investigation was envisioned to propose a new research pipeline in studying the transcriptome of psychiatric disorders to support and improve existing studies. Simple Summary: The molecular heterogeneity of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and its range of potential etiologies contribute to the complexities in treating this disease. Additionally, inter-sample molecular variability can mean the involvement of different prognostic genes or utilization of distinct molecular pathways in HCC development. This paper examines the genes and pathways most involved in different histological grades of HCC across various pre-cancer risk factors using publicly available bulk transcriptomics data and a systems biology approach. It identifies shared pathways among HCCs of varying grades and risk factors, as well as genes common to these pathways. Furthermore, this study highlights gene clusters preserved across risk factors, which may indicate shared targets for general treatment and gene clusters specific to viral or non-viral etiologies. Overall, this research reveals common and differing molecular pathways across risk factors and similarities in gene expression between histological grades. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has the highest mortality rate and is the most frequent of liver cancers. The heterogeneity of HCC in its etiology and molecular expression increases the difficulty in identifying possible treatments. To elucidate the molecular mechanisms of HCC across grades, data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) were used for gene co-expression analysis, categorizing each sample into its pre-existing risk factors. The R library BioNERO was used for preprocessing and gene co-expression network construction. For those modules most correlated with a grade, functional enrichments from different databases were then tested, which appeared to have relatively consistent patterns when grouped by G1/G2 and G3/G4. G1/G2 exhibited the involvement of pathways related to metabolism and the PI3K/Akt pathway, which regulates cell proliferation and related pathways, whereas G3/G4 showed the activation of cell adhesion genes and the p53 signaling pathway, which regulates apoptosis, cell cycle arrest, and similar processes. Module preservation analysis was then used with the no history dataset as the reference network, which found cell adhesion molecules and cell cycle genes to be preserved across all risk factors, suggesting they are imperative in the development of HCC regardless of potential etiology. Through hierarchical clustering, modules related to the cell cycle, cell adhesion, the immune system, and the ribosome were found to be consistently present across all risk factors, with distinct clusters linked to oxidative phosphorylation in viral HCC and pentose and glucuronate interconversions in non-viral HCC, underscoring their potential roles in cancer progression. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), representing 85% of lung cancer cases, is characterized by its heterogeneity and progression through distinct stages. This study applied Weighted Gene Coexpression Network Analysis (WGCNA) to explore the molecular mechanisms of NSCLC and identify potential therapeutic targets. Gene expression data from the GEO database were analyzed across four NSCLC stages (NSCLC1, NSCLC2, NSCLC3, and NSCLC4), with the NSCLC2 dataset selected as the reference for module preservation analysis. WGCNA identified eight highly preserved modules— Cyan, Yellow, Red, Dark Turquoise, Turquoise, White, Purple, and Royal Blue—across datasets, which were enriched in key pathways such as “Cell cycle” and “Pathways in cancer”, involving processes like cell division and inflammatory responses. Hub genes, including PLK1, CDK1, and EGFR, emerged as critical regulators of tumor proliferation and immune responses. Estrogen receptor ESR1 was also highlighted, correlating with improved survival outcomes, suggesting its potential as a prognostic marker. Signature-based drug repurposing analysis identified promising therapeutic candidates, including GW-5074, which inhibits RAF and disrupts the EGFR–RAS–RAF–MEK–ERK signaling cascade, and olomoucine, a CDK1 inhibitor. Additional candidates like pinocembrin, which reduces NSCLC cell invasion by modulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and citalopram, an SSRI with anti-carcinogenic properties, were also identified. Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is a type of kidney cancer. It advances quickly and often metastasizes, making the prognosis for patients challenging. This study used weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) to study gene expression data of different stages of ccRCC obtained in the GEO database. The analysis identified three significant highly preserved gene modules across the datasets: GSE53757, GSE22541, GSE66272, and GSE73731. Functional annotation and pathway enrichment analysis using DAVID revealed inflammatory pathways (e.g., NF-kB, Hippo, and HIF-1 pathways) that may drive ccRCC development and progression. The study also introduced the involvement of viral infections associated with the disease in the metabolic reprogramming of ccRCC. A drug repurposing analysis was also conducted to identify potential drug candidates for ccRCC using the upregulated and downregulated hub genes. The top candidates are ziprasidone (dopamine and serotonin receptor antagonist) and fentiazac (cyclooxygenase inhibitor). Other drug candidates were also obtained, such as phosphodiesterase/DNA methyltransferase/ATM kinase inhibitors, acetylcholine antagonists, and NAD precursors. Featured Application: The application of this study is all computational studies considering venom peptides as potential sources of therapeutics. Animal venom has been gaining traction as a potential source of therapeutics for various diseases. Spiders encompass a wide variety of venom-producing species, of which tarantulas of the family Theraphosidae are widely known across the globe. Research towards tarantula venom therapeutics has led to its potential application as antinociceptives. Death receptors are cellular receptors that induce apoptosis—the body's natural suicide mechanism—to destroy malfunctioning cells. These are particularly of interest in cancer research, as this mechanism is tampered with, resulting in cancer cell proliferation. In this study, the viability of venom toxins from the Theraphosidae family of spiders to induce apoptosis by binding to human death receptors is investigated by carrying out anti-cancer screening, molecular docking, ADMET evaluation, then molecular dynamics and thermodynamic analysis twice, first to ascertain the best receptor–peptide systems per receptor, and secondly to more comprehensively describe binding stability and thermodynamics. Results point to favorable receptor–peptide interactions due to similarities in equilibrium behavior with the death ligand–death receptor systems, along with favorable end-state binding energies and ADMET analysis results. Further inquiry is recommended to assess the real-life efficacy and viability of theraphotoxins as apoptosis therapeutics and further improve on their ability to induce apoptosis. Background and Objectives: The aging process has always been associated with a higher susceptibility to chronic inflammatory lung diseases. Several studies have demonstrated the gut microbiome's influence on the lungs through cross-talk or the gut–lungs axis maintaining nutrient-rich microenvironments. Taiwan djulis (Chenopodium formosanum Koidz.) provides antioxidant and anti-inflammatory characteristics that could modulate the gut microbiome. This could induce the gut–lung axis through microbial cross-talk, thus favoring the modulation of lung inflammation. Materials and Methods: Here, we investigate the immune mRNA expression in the spleen, fecal microbiome composition, and hyperplasia of the bronchial epithelium in aged 2-year-old BALB/c mice after 60 days of supplementation of djulis. Results: The pro-inflammatory cytokines IFN-γ, TNF-α, and IL-1β, T; cells CD4 and CD8; and TLRs TLR3, TLR4, TLR5, TLR7, TLR8, and TLR9 were reduced in their mRNA expression levels, while the anti-inflammatory cytokines IL-2, IL-4, and IL-10 were highly expressed in the C. formosanum-treated group. Interestingly, the fecal microbiome composition analysis indicated higher diversity in the C. formosanum-treated group and the presence of butyrate-producing bacteria that are beneficial in the gut microbiome. The histopathology showed reduced hyperplasia of the bronchial epithelium based on the degree of lesions. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that Taiwan djulis can modulate the gut microbiome, leading to microbial cross-talk; reducing the mRNA expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, T cells, and TLRs; and increasing anti-inflammatory cytokines in the spleen, as cytokines migrate in the lungs, preventing lung inflammation damage in aged mice or the gut–lung axis. Thus, Taiwan djulis could be considered a beneficial dietary component for the older adult population. Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzo-p-furans (PCDD/Fs) are a group of organic chemicals containing three-ring structures that can be substituted with one to eight chlorine atoms, leading to 75 dioxin and 135 furan congeners. As endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), they can alter physiological processes causing a number of disorders. In this study, quantitative structure–toxicity relationship (QSTR) studies were used to determine the correlations between the PCDD/Fs' molecular structures and various toxicity endpoints. Strong QSTR models, with the coefficients of determination (r2) values greater than 0.95 and ANOVA p-values less than 0.0001 were established between molecular descriptors and the endpoints of bioconcentration, fathead minnow LC50, and Daphnia magna LC50. The ability of PCDD/Fs to bind to several nuclear receptors was investigated via molecular docking studies. The results show comparable, and in some instances better, binding affinities of PCDD/Fs toward the receptors relative to their natural agonistic and antagonistic ligands, signifying possible interference with the receptors' natural biological activities. These studies were accompanied by the molecular dynamics simulations of the top-binding PCDD/Fs to show changes in the receptor–ligand complexes during binding and provide insights into these compounds' ability to interfere with transcription and thereby modify gene expression. Simple Summary: Gynecological diseases still make up a large percentage of the overall global disease burden. While oral contraceptives and gonadotropin-releasing hormone drugs for endometriosis and gynecological cancers exist, their known inflammatory side effects can counteract progress in therapy. With this, the present study made use of a systems biology approach to identify correlations between gynecological diseases using gene expression data from DNA microarray samples that contain endometriosis, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, and endometrial cancer. The highly preserved gene modules and their top interacting hub genes were determined to provide a further understanding of the signaling pathways and biological processes affected. Potential drugs were screened based on the upregulated and downregulated hub genes, which identified drug candidates that have known anti-inflammatory effects, implying the potential of specific inflammatory pathways in estrogen-dependent gynecological diseases as a therapeutic avenue. Gynecological diseases are triggered by aberrant molecular pathways that alter gene expression, hormonal balance, and cellular signaling pathways, which may lead to long-term physiological consequences. This study was able to identify highly preserved modules and key hub genes that are mainly associated with gynecological diseases, represented by endometriosis (EM), ovarian cancer (OC), cervical cancer (CC), and endometrial cancer (EC), through the weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) of microarray datasets sourced from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Five highly preserved modules were observed across the EM (GSE51981), OC (GSE63885), CC (GSE63514), and EC (GSE17025) datasets. The functional annotation and pathway enrichment analysis revealed that the highly preserved modules were heavily involved in several inflammatory pathways that are associated with transcription dysregulation, such as NF-kB signaling, JAK-STAT signaling, MAPK-ERK signaling, and mTOR signaling pathways. Furthermore, the results also include pathways that are relevant in gynecological disease prognosis through viral infections. Mutations in the ESR1 gene that encodes for ERα, which were shown to also affect signaling pathways involved in inflammation, further indicate its importance in gynecological disease prognosis. Potential drugs were screened through the Drug Repurposing Encyclopedia (DRE) based on the up-and downregulated hub genes, wherein a bacterial ribosomal subunit inhibitor and a benzodiazepine receptor agonist were the top candidates. Other drug candidates include a dihydrofolate reductase inhibitor, glucocorticoid receptor agonists, cholinergic receptor agonists, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, sterol demethylase inhibitors, a bacterial antifolate, and serotonin receptor antagonist drugs which have known anti-inflammatory effects, demonstrating that the gene network highlights specific inflammatory pathways as a therapeutic avenue in designing drug candidates for gynecological diseases. Autoimmunity is defined as the inability to regulate immunological activities in the body, especially in response to external triggers, leading to the attack of the tissues and organs of the host. Outcomes include the onset of autoimmune diseases whose effects are primarily due to dysregulated immune responses. In past years, there have been cases that show an increased susceptibility to other autoimmune disorders in patients who are already experiencing the same type of disease. Research in this field has started analyzing the potential molecular and cellular causes of this interconnectedness, bearing in mind the possibility of advancing drugs and therapies for the treatment of autoimmunity. With that, this study aimed to determine the correlation of four autoimmune diseases, which are type 1 diabetes (T1D), psoriasis (PSR), systemic sclerosis (SSc), and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), by identifying highly preserved co-expressed genes among datasets using WGCNA. Functional annotation was then employed to characterize these sets of genes based on their systemic relationship as a whole to elucidate the biological processes, cellular components, and molecular functions of the pathways they are involved in. Lastly, drug repurposing analysis was performed to screen candidate drugs for repositioning that could regulate the abnormal expression of genes among the diseases. A total of thirteen modules were obtained from the analysis, the majority of which were associated with transcriptional, post-transcriptional, and post-translational modification processes. Also, the evaluation based on KEGG suggested the possible role of TH17 differentiation in the simultaneous onset of the four diseases. Furthermore, clomiphene was the top drug candidate for regulating overexpressed hub genes; meanwhile, prilocaine was the top drug for regulating under-expressed hub genes. This study was geared towards utilizing transcriptomics approaches for the assessment of microarray data, which is different from the use of traditional genomic analyses. Even though chemotherapeutic and targeted drugs for glioma exist, its heterogeneity per grade and cell origin poses as a significant contributing factor to its negative response to treatment. With this, our study utilized a systems biology approach to investigate correlations between various grades of glioma using DNA microarray profiles of samples that contain pilocytic astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma, anaplastic astrocytoma, and glioblastoma multiforme gene expression data. Gliomas have displayed significant challenges in oncology due to their high degree of invasiveness, recurrence, and resistance to treatment strategies. In this work, the key hub genes mainly associated with different grades of glioma, which were represented by pilocytic astrocytoma (PA), oligodendroglioma (OG), anaplastic astrocytoma (AA), and glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), were identified through weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) of microarray datasets retrieved from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Through this, four highly correlated modules were observed to be present across the PA (GSE50161), OG (GSE4290), AA (GSE43378), and GBM (GSE36245) datasets. The functional annotation and pathway enrichment analysis done through the Database for Annotation, Visualization, and Integrated Discovery (DAVID) showed that the modules and hub genes identified were mainly involved in signal transduction, transcription regulation, and protein binding, which collectively deregulate several signaling pathways, mainly PI3K/Akt and metabolic pathways. The involvement of several hub genes primarily linked to other signaling pathways, including the cAMP, MAPK/ERK, Wnt/β-catenin, and calcium signaling pathways, indicates potential interconnectivity and influence on the PI3K/Akt pathway and, subsequently, glioma severity. The Drug Repurposing Encyclopedia (DRE) was used to screen for potential drugs based on the up- and downregulated hub genes, wherein the synthetic progestin hormones norgestimate and ethisterone were the top drug candidates. This shows the potential neuroprotective effect of progesterone against glioma due to its influence on EGFR expression and other signaling pathways. Aside from these, several experimental and approved drug candidates were also identified, which include an adrenergic receptor antagonist, a PPAR-γ receptor agonist, a CDK inhibitor, a sodium channel blocker, a bradykinin receptor antagonist, and a dopamine receptor agonist, which further highlights the gene network as a potential therapeutic avenue for glioma. Titanium dioxide is a compound that is used in the food, cosmetic, and paint industries; however, it is still toxic to humans and the environment. This study determined the toxicities of titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) in a Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) model. The effects of commercially available (C-TiO2) and synthetically (S-TiO2) prepared TiO2 NP solutions on lethality, lifespan, growth, reproduction, locomotion, and gene expression were studied in C. elegans. Exposure to TiO2 NPs (0.0, 0.01, 0.1, 1.0, and 10 mg/L) did not result in any change to the survival rate or body length of the nematodes, regardless of the concentration. However, there was a decrease in the reproduction (brood size) and locomotion (body bending and head thrashing) of the nematodes as the TiO2 NP concentration increased. The longevity of the nematodes was shortened following TiO2 NP exposure. The gene expression of sod-1, sod-3, ctl-1, ctl-2, cyp35A2, mlt-1, and mlt-2 in the nematodes showed that there was an overexpression of all genes when the worms were exposed to 1 mg/L C-TiO2 or 10 mg/L S-TiO2. Simple Summary: Conotoxins are small, structured components found in the venom of predatory cone snails. They were proven to be valuable probes and models for drug discovery and protein evolution studies. Conotoxins present an opportunity to study protein divergence and discover potential human therapeutic landscapes. Although there is considerable literature on conotoxin evolution and activity, what pushed conotoxin divergence remains unclear. Hence, in this paper, we conducted a two-phase study that investigated conotoxin evolution in terms of divergence, followed by structural analysis to determine the relevant structural elements. By understanding the evolution of conotoxins, we identified patterns that account for their superior specificity. The results revealed similarities based on the cone snail's diet preference. The structural elements are in synch with their target prey preference as if cone snails evolved to fine-tune their conopeptide armory to respond to evolutionary pressures by producing conotoxins selective for their prey of choice. We identified several structural elements that account for this specificity. Conservation patterns are observed within diet subgroups but are divergent from other groups. Predatory cone snails (Conus) developed a sophisticated neuropharmacological mechanism to capture prey, escape against other predators, and deter competitors. Their venom's remarkable specificity for various ion channels and receptors is an evolutionary feat attributable to the venom's variety of peptide components (conotoxins). However, what caused conotoxin divergence remains unclear and may be related to the role of prey shift. Principal component analysis revealed clustering events within diet subgroups indicating peptide sequence similarity patterns based on the prey they subdue. Molecular analyses using multiple sequence alignment and structural element analysis were conducted to observe the events at the molecular level that caused the subgrouping. Three distinct subgroups were identified. Results showed homologous regions and conserved residues within diet subgroups but divergent between other groups. We specified that these structural elements caused subgrouping in alpha conotoxins that may play a role in function specificity. In each diet subgroup, amino acid character, length of intervening amino acids between cysteine residues, and polypeptide length influenced subgrouping. This paper discusses the effects of pH and concentration on the capability of E. coli ATCC29522 and S. epidermidis RP62A biofilm with bentonite in removing divalent copper, nickel and lead from wastewater. Batch adsorption study at laboratory scale was utilized to evaluate the potential use of bacterial biomass (E. coli ATCC29522 and S. epidermidis RP62A) aided with geosynthetic clay (bentonite) for the removal of Cu2+, Ni2+and Pb2+. Results revealed that removal of Cu2+, Ni2+and Pb2+ by both types of organisms supported with bentonite were high in the first 4 hours of the experiment. This illustrates that the binding site on that particular time was abundant. Hence, the removal rate was evident at high concentration depicting the line adsorption equilibrium. It also revealed that S. epidermidis RP62A supported with bentonite had the highest affinity to Copper and Lead with Qm = 277.7 mg/g and 5.0075 mg/g, respectively. While E. coli ATCC 29522 had the highest affinity to Nickel (Qm= 58.82 mg/g). Hence, the sorption of Cu2+, Ni2+and Pb2+ onto E. coli ATCC29522 and S. epidermidis RP62A biofilm supported with bentonite clay occurred through monolayer chemisorption on the homogeneous surface of E. coli ATCC29522 and S. epidermidis RP62A biofilm with bentonite clay. Batch kinetics studies revealed that the sorption of Cu2+, Ni2+and Pb2+ onto E. coli ATCC29522 and S. epidermidis RP62A biofilm supported with bentonite clay was well described by a pseudo-second-order equation model of type 1 (R2 = 0.9999), which implies that chemisorption is the rate limiting step.

With the prevalence of obesity and other components of metabolic syndrome, Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become increasingly common. In recent years, much attention has been paid to various plant sources, hoping to find a treatment for NAFLD in plants. The Livsooth authentic herbal formula (LAH, ...), a botanical drug formula combined with Puerariae lobatae radix, Lonicerae japonicae flos, Hoveniae semen, and Siraitiae fructus. This study used a network pharmacology approach to predict the potential mechanisms of LAH against NAFLD. Gene Ontology (GO) and KEGG pathway enrichment analyses have identified potential biochemical and signaling pathways. Subsequently, the potential mechanism of action of LAH on NAFLD predicted by network pharmacology analysis was validated in a high-fat diet (HFD)-induced NAFLD model in C57BL/6 mice. Our results demonstrated that LAH ameliorated hepatocyte steatosis in liver tissue by activating the AMPK pathway and decreasing serum triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein, glucose, and cholesterol. Besides, LAH increased the hepatic antioxidant enzymes activities, suggested that LAH improved oxidative stress markers in HFD induced NAFLD mice. In vitro experiments confirmed that the active component of LAH, puerarin, regulates lipid accumulation through the AMPK pathway. In conclusion, our study shows that network pharmacology predictions are consistent with experimental validation. LAH can be a candidate supplement for the prevention of NAFLD. Ji-Ming-Shan (JMS) is a traditional prescription use for patients with rheumatism, tendons swelling, athlete's foot, diuresis and even gout. This study developed a rapid and sensitive method for the analysis of JMS chemical components in the Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescription and in the serum samples of rats which were administered with the herbal extract. Two mass spectrometric approaches were used namely Ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight-mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF-MS) method for the major metabolites of the JMS extract while Ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) was employed for the detection of the JMS metabolites in the sera of rats. It was revealed that the major components in the JMS extract were identified to be narirutin and hesperidin. It was confirmed that 17 compounds were determined in JMS prescription extract and 16 metabolites resulting from the biotransformation of narirutin and hesperidin were identified in the serum samples. In silico analyses also revealed that the metabolite hersperidin-7-glucoside exhibited the best binding ability with respect to the Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme target.
