Abstract

ミニ特集を企画するにあたり、新素材における高温耐酸化性を取り上げ、その可能性と課題を明らかにすることを目的とした。ここでは、高温構造材料として実績があるニッケル基超合金のさらなる革新に関して川岸京子氏と原田広史氏（物材機構）に、金属系における新たな展開としてIr合金に関して御手洗容子氏と村上秀之氏（物材機構）に、さらにセラミックスでは最も期待されている炭化ケイ素系を後藤孝氏と且井宏和氏（東北大金材研）に依頼した。加えて、高温構造用金属間化合物として最も優れた高温耐酸化性を有するため、構造材料としても期待されるケイ化物金属間化合物を黒川一哉氏（北大エネルギ研）が執筆した。いずれの材料もそれぞれに優れた特性と可能性を有し、それぞれに課題がある。異分野の研究者や学生にもわかりやすいように、基礎的な酸化機構から現在の課題まで幅広く取り扱うものとした。

Abstract

Effect of grain refinement from 370 to 34 μm on oxidation of transition Fe–13Cr–5Ni alloy at 973 K in Ar–21 vol%O 2 was investigated. The measured weight gains were fitted taking into account a mixed kinetic model with an initial linear and subsequent parabolic growth behaviour. Different scale microstructural evolution was discussed. Contribution of grain refinement to the oxidation is predominantly due to its effect on the inward oxidation process. Decreasing grain size promoted intergranular oxidation, accelerated formation of the Cr-containing inner scale, contributed to the faster transition to the steady state oxidation and correspondingly slightly improved the oxidation resistance.
