The field of nutrition has seen a growing interest and demand in recent years, with more students choosing to study within the field. This demand has highlighted the importance of producing work-ready graduates with skills that enhance their employability and ability to contribute effectively to the workforce. This study investigated the role of work-integrated learning (WIL) on improving employability skills in nutrition undergraduates (n=41) at an Australian university. Perceived skill development was determined using the Employability Skills Cluster Matrix-Self Assessment Tool (ESCM-SAT). Significant improvements were observed across all 24 employability skills post-internship, with the greatest increase in the communication cluster and 'developing and managing my career' (p<0.01). Skill development was attributed to self-awareness, exposure to a professional environment, and mentorship. Undergraduate nutrition degrees should consider strategies to develop transferable skills and include WIL for the unique application of academic knowledge to diverse workplace settings within the industry.

Developing Allied Health (AH) graduates who are skilled in responding to public health needs is crucial, particularly in rural areas where workforce shortages and poor health outcomes are common. However, workforce shortages make it difficult to provide rural work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities to teach these skills. This paper presents a model of Service-Learning (SL) that innovatively employs WIL for AH students while addressing rural health needs. The model was developed based on the experiences of a rural WIL team who implemented over 400 SL WIL experiences over six years. Key aspects highlight the importance of relationship building and meeting the needs of three key stakeholders, namely the community and host-site, students, and the enrolled university. Student support, interprofessional education and evaluation were also embedded in the model. This SL model adopts a flexible approach and provides a useful guide for developing SL for WIL despite challenges in rural areas.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the relationship between the self-perceived employability of engineering students and graduates and their employment situation. Methodology: A total of 505 individuals participated in this study, including recent graduates and senior students from five engineering programs at a public higher education institution in Colombia. This research adopted a quantitative methodology with a non-experimental cross-sectional design and a correlational scope. The data were analysed using inferential statistics. Findings: Based on the results, perceived employability considerably depends on four factors: the level of job performance, the number of promotions, work experience, and the education-job relationship. Originality: In the current labour context, employability is an important tool for graduates who are entering the labour market and must face a variety of challenges, such as the decline in work opportunities, the rapid development of technology, and the need for lifelong learning. According to the literature in the field, employability is significantly influenced by these kinds of external factors.

Students with disabilities are far less likely than their peers to participate in work-integrated learning (WIL). This gap may contribute to the high levels of unemployment for people with disabilities. Unemployment rates compound when accounting for intersectional identities, with disabled people of color experiencing even higher rates of unemployment. Skill development through opportunities such as WIL is critical to ensure equity-deserving groups can transition successfully from post-secondary institutions into the workforce. Without a transparent, collaborative accommodations process in an environment that is actively reducing stigma and ableism, it is likely students with disabilities will continue to be underrepresented in WIL and the workforce after graduation. This paper presents an overview of disability, barriers to participation, and relevant Canadian legislation. The authors then propose an outline for developing a collaborative accommodations process for WIL opportunities.

Increasing research reveals the impact of technostress on life satisfaction among academics. In line with the determined purpose, it is first determined whether there is a significant difference in terms of technostress and life satisfaction between demographic variables such as age, gender, field of science and years of experience. Secondly, an answer was sought to the question of whether there was a significant impact of technostress on life satisfaction. To achieve the determined research purpose, the relational scanning model was used. The study involved 342 academic participants working at different universities in Kyrgyzstan who agreed to participate voluntarily. The research was conducted with 342 academics, 207 women and 135 men. To analyze the data obtained, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis and linear regression analysis were used. As a result of the research, it was determined that there was a low level of negative association between life satisfaction and the socially focused technostress sub-dimension score among the technostress sub-dimensions. Life satisfaction and general technostress level were determined to be permanent and significant among the technostress sub-dimensions such as profession-oriented, technical subject-oriented learning-teaching process-oriented and personal technostress sub-dimensions. The regression analysis revealed that general technostress emerged, but the sub-dimensions showed no influence on life satisfaction, and that single socially focused technostress had a negative predictive impact on life satisfaction.

The purpose of this article is to introduce a design-based research (DBR) approach developed in the field of vocational and continuing education, which is grounded in a pragmatic and phenomenologically inspired enactivist approach to activity. As a design-based methodology, our activity-centered and enactive DBR approach aims to generate knowledge related to design and to identify relevant design principles. After detailing the particularities of an activity-centered and enactive DBR approach, we focus on the results pertaining to design knowledge by identifying two broad design principles for vocational education and training, and five enactivist inspired principles for training design. A significant practical implication for researchers and practitioners in vocational and continuing education and training is that these enactivist inspired design principles provide promising pathways to enhance the connectivity between (i) work experiences, (ii) work and training practices, and (iii) learning contexts.

The study aims to identify profiles of trainee teachers in terms of their stress and work experiences and to uncover profile differences in regard to dropout intentions and perceived relationships between trainee teachers and their mentors. Based on data from 1,756 German trainee teachers, three distinct stress and work experience profiles could be identified. Trainee teachers with high levels of stress and negative work experiences exhibit higher dropout intentions and experience their relationship with their mentors as less transparent, fair and trusting, and more ambivalent compared to trainee teachers with low levels of stress and positive work experiences. The results underline the importance of the relationship between mentors and trainee teachers for the professional development of future teachers.

Vocational teachers in building and construction in upper secondary school deal with complex situations of an organisational, vocational, and social kind. Recent research has shown that the teacher is the single most important factor for students' learning in school. Teacher-student relationships and the teacher's repertoire of teaching practices can be more important for the student's learning than class size, the classroom environment, and the student's socio-economic background. Beyond passing the journeyman's test, we know little about the craft knowledge and working life experiences vocational teachers in the building and construction trades have acquired over many years in the construction industry, and thus, what knowledge and experiences they bring into the vocational teacher role. Learning in working life often takes place as an integrated part of work, and it is difficult to observe how learning happens. Craft knowledge is often tacit and personal. In this narrative, phenomenologically inspired study, learning is investigated as a bodily, internal process that simultaneously depends on the interaction with the material and social environment. Through narrative interviews with eleven vocational teachers in plumbing and carpentry, this study explores the teachers' backgrounds as vocational students and apprentices, and their extensive experience as craftsmen on different construction sites. The analysis shows that the building site drives craft-related actions and situations that generate a strong craft identity, professional working life experiences, and personal growth. Craftsmen at the construction site work under constant pressure in a social, physically, and mentally demanding work environment and consecutively solve problems. As professional craftsmen in the complex working environment, the teachers also acquired social and organisational expertise, which they intuitively transferred to their role as vocational teachers.

Increasing global teacher attrition rates and the difficulty of filling teacher positions in Australian schools have led to rising concerns about teacher supply and demand. While attrition factors and rates have been known for over thirty years, little has changed or improved. This raises the question, 'how and why do some teachers continue while others leave?' A postqualitative ethnographic study into the experiences that have challenged teachers' decision to continue highlights the complexity of the issues underlying teacher attrition with known attrition factors, in particular workplace and time, being compounded by unspoken and silenced challenges that contribute to teachers leaving. Reducing attrition rates requires a closer examination of teachers' workplace experiences, openness and acceptance of their realities, and acknowledgment of the complex issues underlying attrition. In turn, there is a need to better support and equip preservice and early career teachers for the realities of teaching to ensure career sustainability.

A service-learning project was conducted with counselors-in-training to increase self-efficacy for interacting with individuals with unique abilities/intellectual disabilities. Counselors-in-training (N=27) completed a semester-long service-learning project and took a pre and post assessment. The results indicated that self-efficacy improved for all counselors-in-training. The paired samples t-test identified that the mean increase in self rated self-efficacy was statistically significant with a medium to large effect size, t (26) = - 4.052, p < 0.001, d = 0.742. However, the increase of self-efficacy was greater among the counselors-in-training who had no prior experience with individuals with unique abilities/intellectual disabilities.

This qualitative study looked at Wilhelm Schmid's concept of the Art of Living (AoL) in relation to the current New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) and Te Whariki. The methodology included a brief content analysis of both Te Whariki and the NZC in relation to relevant knowledge areas and skills for the development of an AoL, as well as interviews of three participants to provide empirical data. From the participant data, four key themes emerged: support from parents; need for practical aspects within the curriculum(s); post-secondary school guidance; and positive working experiences. The overall findings suggest that Te Whariki places a large emphasis on the relationships between kaiako, whanau and tamariki, relating to theme one. It was also found that the NZC could provide more opportunities for practical life skills to be included in the curriculum, as well as providing clearer instruction on how to implement effective careers education and other knowledge areas and thinking skills relevant for students to develop their own art of living.

The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of principlas' transformational leader behaviors on teachers' organizational commitment. In the research, causal-comparative and relarional survey methods were used. The study group, defined according to convenient sampling method, was composed of 260 public school teachers working in five provinces in the Central Anatolia Region in Turkey. The data was gathered with "Transformational Leadership Scale" and "Teachers' Organizational Commitment Scale", in the spring semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. Descriptive statistical analysis, independent groups t-test, test of variance (ANOVA), Pearsons' corelational analysis and regresion analysis were employed in the analysis phase. The findings showed that both principals' transformational leadership levels and teachers' organizational commitment levels were moderate. It was observed that teachers' perceptions about their principals' transformational leadership behaviours and organizational commitment levels didn't show a significant difference among the groups of gender, age and work experience. It was found that there was a significant relationship between principals' transformational leadership behaviours and teachers' organizational commitment, and the former was a significant predictor of the latter. It was concluded that principals' transformational leadership behaviors might be effective in enhancing teachers' organizational commitment. In this frame practical, theoretical and research recommendations were developed.

A persisting shortage of accounting Ph.D. program graduates has plagued academia for at least the last two decades. Despite suggestions fueled by research findings, traditional accounting Ph.D. programs appear to have not implemented substantial changes aimed at alleviating this problem. The present study surveys accounting Ph.D. program coordinators in an effort to articulate the current characteristics of their students and programs, admission requirements, recruiting challenges, and potential program changes. Data obtained from responding coordinators at highlevel research institutions are examined in conjunction with prior findings detailing accounting Ph.D. program features. These comparisons unveil that the nature and expectations of these programs remain relatively consistent across the decades. Surprisingly, admissions requirements remain relatively unchanged as well, although the nature of the accounting Ph.D. student seems to be skewing younger, with relatively little professional experience and/or no certifications. Highlevel research institution coordinators report that the demand for students is somewhat higher than the supply, and that relatively intensive recruitment efforts are employed to fulfill enrollment slots. Although the coordinators indicate at least moderate changes to the program requirements over their tenure, they are not expecting major changes to ensue within the next couple of years. Present study findings suggest that programs at high-level research institutions are not employing significant changes to ameliorate the accounting Ph.D. shortage, highlighting the contrast in desired program outcomes between such institutions and lower level research institutions.

As life course research has long recognized, work and careers are what Pearlin (1988; p.259) describes as "durable arrangements" that serve to "organize experience over time." However, understanding (a) the specific impacts of the alienations and contradictions of work and society under capitalism as well as (b) the analytic details of how the processes of learning are involved in the relationship of work experience and life course remain less well understood. An approached referred to as Mind in Political Economy is explained. It is based on a synthesis of several socio-cultural learning theories which allows the effective use of the concept of dramatic perezhivanie. This approach is then applied to a study of workplace learning in the context of a chemical production plant in Canada with a focus on the life history of one subject. It concludes that, based upon evidence of the realization of dramatic perezhivanie in relation to the contradictory object-motives of occupational autonomy/control as well as labour autonomy/control more generally, work-life learning in activity affected the quality of work experiences, the nature of development across employment history, and had carry-over effects beyond work. Moreover, it is shown that work-life learning could play a role in retrieving, reconstructing and making use of early life experience iteratively in the course of biographical meaning-making through the creation and refinement of biographical artefacts across the life course by a process of double stimulation.

Workplace experiences are central to adults' learning and development, providing opportunities for significant and valuable lifelong learning. Research into adults' learning in volunteer work attests to its significance and value across the spectrum of adult learning, serving instrumental, social, and altruistic purposes for the learner and enriching lives through furnishing individual, collective and broader community benefits. But how does adults' learning through workplace experiences in community volunteering contribute to their agency and lifelong learning while also generating wider collective benefits? What are people learning, and what are the learning incentives, processes, mechanisms and affordances at play? This article reports selected findings from a phenomenographic investigation into a group of community volunteers' experiences of workplace learning in a social enterprise in an Australian rural town coming to grips with transitioning to life in a digital era. The findings illuminate the experience of community-based workplace learning from the adult learner's perspective, and specifically, learning embedded in social participation in rural community volunteering and associational life, providing new insights about adults' experience of learning through volunteering in the interests of understanding and furthering their own lifelong learning and development goals while contributing to their communities of interest, practice and place.

Spreadsheets have long played a key role in business operations. The use and adoption of data analytics has significantly increased over the last few years and amplified this role. Spreadsheets are often a first tool for data analytics as such applications provide ease of calculation of basic statistics and chart development. For much of the last two decades universities have provided training in Microsoft Excel because that was what companies used and wanted. Since mid-2020, there has been an increase in use of Google Sheets causing some faculty to believe that MS Excel should be replaced. Faculty must always be aware of current and future employers demands and ensure programs meet the expectations of employers especially expectations for recent graduates. This study reviews business job postings seeking employees with two years or fewer years of work experience between 2019 and 2021 and examines demand for spreadsheet application experience. Results overwhelming indicate that Microsoft Excel still is the most required spreadsheet application by employers and faculty should pause before changing MS Excel training or removing certifications.

Using a cross-sectional survey of co-operative education students, this study explored relationships between students' gender, work experience, time spent on tasks with supervisors, and self-reported learning. Inexperienced men spent 50% more time on tasks with supervisors than inexperienced women. Work experience (completing at least one co-operative education work term) significantly reduced this gender-based gap. Further, time on tasks with supervisors was positively associated with self-reported learning among women, especially inexperienced women, but not for men. The findings are interpreted using the literature on gender roles at work and students' experiential learning outcomes. Early career women may be socialized into gender roles that limit access to supervisors' time. Work experience may help such women develop human capital such as confidence and social skills that closes gender-based gaps in learning opportunities.

Self-regulation has been found to be integral to academic learning in traditional classroom environments. Social cognition theory highlights the significant relationships between academic self-efficacy, internet self-efficacy, and work experience in years on self-regulation in the context of traditional classroom learning. However, there is a lacuna in the literature on the significance of these relationships in the context of e-learning. The exponential growth of e-learning and changes in business environment necessitate a study to examine the effect on self-regulation in the context of e-learning. This research is based on a sample of 525 management students from a business school in South Asia. The findings highlight that academic and internet self-efficacy have a positive effect on self-regulation even in an e-learning environment. e-learning here refers to interactive online learning, in a university setting. The findings have significant implications for both theory and practice as they build on the existing literature. We suggest use of training-based interventions for promoting self-regulation which subsequently would facilitate higher e-learning efficacy.

Based on previous studies, it was hypothesized that the personal background of students, including previous qualifications and work experience, may be one factor affecting their perceptions of interprofessional education. In a cross-sectional study, the associations between students' (N = 149) gender, major subject, previous degrees, and interprofessional work experience, perceptions of interprofessional education, and appraisal of members of their own profession in interprofessional cooperation were examined. According to the most noteworthy results, having more interprofessional work experience and a previous degree from a university of applied sciences was associated with perceiving interprofessional studies to be more useful. Moreover, having less interprofessional work experience was associated with perceiving members of one's own profession more positively regarding interprofessional cooperation. It is suggested that also these background variables are considered when designing and implementing interprofessional education.

Working between the formal education system and workplace, vocational education teachers contribute to the growth and development of a country's future workforce. Using interviews of university professors, examination of legislation and administrative rules and information obtained from applicable websites, this article compares two different teacher education systems for the preparation of vocational teachers in the country of Finland and the state of Ohio in the United States. Findings indicate both systems have commonalities as well as significant differences. This comparison will contribute to a better understanding of vocational teacher education from an international perspective and examines such aspects as qualification requirements for vocational education teachers, the institutions providing teacher preparation and the content of the teacher training programs. A discussion of the vocational education systems in both settings is also provided for background and context.

Community and technical colleges in Washington state were early adopters in the growing trend to offer bachelor's degrees, actively expanding these degrees over the last 15 years. This study describes the evolving state policy landscape on community college baccalaureate (CCB) degrees in Washington in certain programs previously classified as terminal career-technical education and assesses labor market outcomes for graduates of three high-demand program areas conferring these degrees. Comparing bachelor's graduates of community colleges to regional university graduates, CCB graduates demonstrated slightly higher employment and earnings in the first quarter post-graduation. However, university graduates caught up to approximately the same or slightly higher earnings as CCB graduates by three years post-graduation. Differences in age and prior work experience of graduates in the two groups may help explain these findings but variation in employment and earnings by gender and race were persistent for both groups, with pronounced disparities for female and some racially minoritized graduates. These findings can inform state policy on baccalaureate attainment, CCB degrees as well as university bachelor's degrees, to help address inequities in higher education. Future studies evaluating the effects of college degrees on employment and earnings may also be enriched by these results.

This narrative study explored the administrative internship experiences of five assistant principals in Alabama for the purpose of better understanding how these school leaders perceived the benefits of Alabama's policy requirement for field experience in their practice. Attention towards this comparatively brief ten-day internship sought to describe the value early career practitioners placed on this experience and to better understand policy implications for instructional leaders. Through individual, semi-structured interviews with assistant principals from rural, suburban, and urban locales, this study asked 1) How do assistant principals describe their professional learning needs and 2) How do assistant principals describe the value of their administrative field experience? Findings show that participants believed practical, building level knowledge and experience was most needed in order to successfully manage their current duties. Those whose school leadership experience was limited to the ten-day internship experience expressed sediments of being underprepared for their position while those who had longer field experiences and additional leadership responsibilities prior to their assistant role, expressed greater confidence in their abilities.

Employees in the outdoor recreation sector account for 3.2% of the U.S. workforce, contributing to over $1.1T in national economic output. As awareness of the sector's economic strength has grown, interest in promoting outdoor recreation careers has expanded. Research on outdoor recreation careers has not kept pace with workforce development initiatives, however, and existing data and research reports provide only aggregate figures that neither reflect the new employment landscape nor track how careers are navigated by the people who occupy them. This article reports on an interview study of 15 established outdoor recreation professionals in executive or management positions to gain insights into career trajectories in outdoor recreation. Their narrative responses were assessed using the Psychology of Working Theory, a career counseling framework organized around the concept of decent work. Findings are presented along with points for outdoor recreation career advocates to consider in future research and workforce development initiatives.

FinTech refers to a set of new technologies employed to improve and automate the delivery and use of financial services. This study aims to provide some insightful information to: (a) universities on how to offer their FinTech education, and (b) graduates so that they can make an informed decision on whether they should start their FinTech career journey. To achieve these aims, we explore the credentials of recent and long-time graduates who are working in the FinTech area by conducting a questionnaire survey involving 48 Australian FinTech companies and 83 FinTech practitioners working in various IT functions of these companies. Among the various findings reported in this paper, some of them are: (a) the most straightforward way to start the "technical-oriented" FinTech career is to earn an undergraduate IT degree, (b) possessing previous IT work experience is almost a norm for FinTech practitioners, and (c) for those FinTech practitioners with previous work experience in financial services, they may have a higher chance to be promoted to executives.

With this study we aimed at determining the service-learning experiences of pre-service Turkish language teachers in teaching Turkish to Syrian refugee students. The Community Service Practices course plays an important role in the integration of pre-service teachers in the society. A phenomenological design was used in the study in which we investigated the opinions of pre-service teachers about the service-learning processes. The study was conducted with 23 pre-service Turkish language teachers in Kilis 7 Aralik University. The community service practice was realised in a state school where Syrian secondary school students receive education. Interviews were conducted to collect data from the participants, and the content analysis method was used to analyse the data obtained from the interviews. Themes were formed by classifying and interpreting the data. In the study, the experiences of pre-service teachers with students, the teaching process, teaching environment, students, and service-based learning process were analysed. The results indicate that pre-service teachers developed their awareness, took social responsibility, attained occupational experience, and improved their communication with the refugees during the Community Service Practices course. Considering the results obtained it could be argued that service-learning practices have significant benefits for pre-service teachers and students.

This qualitative study explores the workplace experiences of 12 lesbian public school teachers in Southern New Jersey. Through in-depth, semi-structured interviews, teachers discuss the tensions, contradictions, rewards, and challenges of teaching at this unique historical moment when laws, policies, social practices, and attitudes are in flux. Queer theory guided the development of the study and provides the primary analytical lens for examining and interpreting data. Findings cluster around the following interrelated themes: (1) queer teachable moments; (2) being 'that' teacher; (3) self-disclosure, and (4) It's not over yet. Findings provide insight into what lesbian teachers are saying about their experiences, their teaching environments, and popular perceptions of difference. These voices, largely unheard, bring insight to teaching as a profession.

The purpose of this scoping review was to examine the literature about the participation of students with intellectual disability in community-based work experiences (CBWEs). We analyzed 54 original research articles written in English, conducted in the United States, and published between 1975 and 2020 in peer-reviewed journals. We identified study characteristics (e.g., research design, participants, data sources, and CBWEs) and the focus of each study. Studies focused on five areas: descriptions of student participation in CBWEs, correlates of student participation in CBWEs, relations between student participation in CBWEs and post-CBWEs outcomes, descriptions of transition programs that include CBWEs, and descriptions of stakeholders' perceptions of student participation in CBWEs. Implications for how teachers plan CBWEs and how researchers can address gaps in the literature are discussed.

The study aimed at identifying the relationship between the competencies of Palestinian university graduates and the needs of the Palestinian labour market from the perspective of graduates and employers. The study adopted the descriptive analytical approach (quantitative). It found that the level of suitability of the competencies of Palestinian university graduates to the needs of the labour market from the perspective of the graduates was very high, with a total scale mean score equal to 4.42, while the level of suitability of the competencies of university graduates to the needs of the labour market from the employers' perspectives was high with a total scale mean score equal to 3.66. The study found significant statistical differences at the level of significance ([alpha] = 0.05) about the suitability of the university graduates' competencies to the needs of the labour market according to the total score of the domains (organisational competencies, specialised and technical competencies) from the graduates' perspectives, referring to the variables (age, years of experience and specialisation). The study recommended working on designing supportive policies in the higher education sector, such as promoting social responsibility and involving labour market institutions in developing academic plans for universities. In addition, this study recommends conducting further studies to provide research-based evidence regarding the relationship between higher education graduates' competencies and the needs of the Palestinian labour market.

The aim of design thinking approach is to provide students with skills that they can use in daily life. In this context, it can be said that design thinking is an approach that can be used in the teaching of social studies course, which aims to provide students with knowledge and skills related to daily life. Equipping students with design thinking skills in social studies course is possible if social studies teachers have design thinking skills. This study aimed to investigate social studies teachers' levels of design thinking skills and collect their views on reflecting their design thinking skills on their daily lives. Explanatory sequential design, one of the mixed method research methods, was used in the study. A total of 256 social studies teachers from different regions of Turkey and with different qualifications participated in the study. There are two groups of participants in the study. Maximum variation sampling method was used for collecting quantitative data, and the criterion sampling method was used for collecting qualitative data. The statistical data of the study were collected with the design thinking scale in teaching, and the qualitative data were collected with a semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers. To analyze the data, t-test for independent samples, one-way ANOVA, and descriptive analysis techniques were used. It was concluded that the levels of design thinking skills of social studies teachers were high. On the other hand, it was determined that the design thinking skill levels of social studies teachers did not differ in terms of gender, age, region of employment, work experience, type of institution, and use of technology level. In addition, it was investigated that most social studies teachers reflect the relationship, process, ethics, and individual-oriented skills related to design thinking skills on their daily lives. Various suggestions were made to the researchers, the Ministry of National Education, and the Higher Education Institution based on the findings of the study.

Context: COVID-19 poses major challenges for vocational education and training (VET), as VET--in contrast to general education--is closely linked to the economic system and cannot escape the impact of current economic restrictions. Additionally, strict infection control regulations, as well as temporary school and company closures, inhibit the teaching of practical skills at the workplace. Rapid action by the responsible actors is essential to ensure that VET can take place even under these difficult conditions. It can be assumed that both the complex decision-making processes and the multiplicity of actors involved in collective training systems complicate or delay the reaction to this exogenous shock. Using the example of the German dual training system, this explorative article aims to examine the ability of collective training systems to deal with the challenges posed by the pandemic. Methods: Based on a document analysis, various publications (e.g., press releases, reports) by central actors of the German dual system were reviewed, which provided information about the provision of training activities as well as the measures taken or required to counteract the pandemic-related consequences for dual apprenticeships. This corpus of literature was expanded by scientific studies and publications from national or international institutions related to VET. Following a governance-analytical and actor-centred perspective, the documents were analysed with regard to the indications they provide about the realised coordination of action between the actors, the realised processes and outcomes, as well as the levels affected within the VET system. Findings: The way of dealing with the crisis demonstrates that the German dual system is influenced by the actions of various actors at multiple levels. Actors who are involved in the decision-making processes share common interests, resulting in a strategically bound cooperation among them. However, influence or power from bottom-up seems to be rather limited, as not all of the actors considered in this study are included in essential governance processes. Despite the comprehensive reactions to the pandemic, problems and optimisation needs are also apparent, e.g. with regard to vocational orientation or the support of vocational schools. Conclusion: Despite its complexity, the dual system as a collective training model is capable of acting and adapting to face the challenges posed by the pandemic. This may also be due to the historically entrenched corporatist structures within the dual system: Even in times of crisis, the trust in this historically evolved institutional framework leads to a high degree of accountability and cooperation among the decisive actors.

Context: Often, vocational education and training (VET) professionals are not systematically prepared for their demanding, mostly diverse and complex tasks. Professional development can be understood as an enlargement of competencies that arise as opportunities in daily work. This study, embedded in a funded research project, focuses on VET professionals and their professional development. The research question is as follows: What challenges and problems regarding their professional development, as well as possible solutions, are described by training professionals in VET in Germany? Approach: The goal of this study is to discover what challenges VET professionals face and how they cope with them. Accordingly, this research was formalised with the following components: (A) An explorative study with group discussions (N = 53 participants in six groups) and (B) result validation with German VET experts (N = 10). The data were recorded, transcribed and analysed using qualitative content analysis. Results: Using a theory-based category system, the group discussion results were summarised in 12 systematic, organisational- and individual-level statements. The statements indicated that despite the necessity of formal professional development in the area of further training, most VET professionals must still be able to profit from offers at or below the German Qualification Framework (DQR) level 5. Many VET professionals ultimately sought visible recognition of their activities or personal commitment with regard to pedagogical and company-economic functions. The 10 VET experts also evaluated the 12 statements as important. Conclusion: The results of this study show that there is a huge need for qualification and learning opportunities for VET professionals. The demand is mostly for modern, tried-and-tested concepts and central themes, such as action and competency orientation, practice and transfer orientation, individual and structural reflection, media competency and learning support in all formats and at all levels.

The present study aims to investigate the relationship and predictability between the roles of leaders in Saudi public universities in consolidating the dimensions of learning organizations (universities) and their abilities in confronting COVID-19 pandemic challenges. A total of 228 leaders in three Saudi public universities took part in the current study. A questionnaire was designed for collecting data, which consisted of general data, The Dimensions of Learning Organization Questionnaire (DLOQ), and Confronting COVID-19 Pandemic Challenges Scale (CCPCS) developed by the researcher of this study. The results of the study showed a positive relationship between the roles of leaders in Saudi public universities in consolidating the dimensions of learning organizations (universities) and their abilities in confronting COVID-19 pandemic challenges, and that these roles of leaders are good predictors of these abilities. Results also indicate that there are no significant differences in both study scales across gender, age, academic qualifications, and years of work experience. It is recommended to increase the leaders' roles in the Saudi public universities in consolidating the dimensions of the learning organization, as this has an impact on their abilities in in confronting COVID-19 Pandemic challenges.

In this study, we explore the perceived employability and ambition of student veterans, compare the perceived employability and ambition of student veterans and civilian students, and examine the impact of other variables (e.g., age, gender, GPA, etc.) on student veterans' perceived employability and ambition. An online survey was conducted among 85 students, including 37 veterans and 48 civilian students. The results show that most of the investigated student veterans were confident in their employability and future career success. In addition, student veterans had slightly lower perceived employability and ambition than either active military members or civilian students. The result of descriptive analysis showed clues that explained how other variables impacted the perceived employability and ambition of student veterans.

Underemployment, which occurs when baccalaureate degree holders are employed in occupations that do not require or fully use a college-level degree (Lederman, 2018), challenges the notion that a college degree alone adequately prepares a student for a satisfactory level of employment based on education level. During 2018 and 2019, the higher-ed capstone team conducted this study to identify predictive characteristics of underemployment among undergraduate alumni from a large, public, urban, Tier-1 research university. Although identifying underemployment characteristics was the primary impetus for the research, the team instead discovered three primary predictors of adequate employment from the analysis. Higher education institutions and policy leaders may be able to better ensure students gain employment, particularly during challenging economic times, by encouraging student participation in internships, extracurricular activities, and the selection of STEM majors.

This qualitative phenomenology investigated the job-related experiences of early career Catholic elementary school principals (N = 13) in the Mideastern region of the United States. Data were collected from an introductory survey, semi-structured interviews, two focus groups, and a participant designed plan for professional development. The findings indicated that Catholic elementary principals in their early career are motivated by a calling to a vocation in Catholic school leadership as well as the ability to develop and implement a vision for their school. Principals reported being challenged by limited resources, balancing the demands of the position, and navigating relationships. Finally, principals believed they are supported by diocesan administrators in the areas of human resources and student issues, particularly if the concerns have legal implications.

The purpose of the study was to examine the prevalence, type and frequency of supervision provided to school counsellors, as well as to map experienced counsellors' expectations of the supervisor. The research question guiding this study was: What is the platform, type and frequency of supervision provided to school counsellors, and what are experienced counsellors' expectations of the supervisor? An online survey was employed to collect data for the present study from the respondents (N=78). The survey was distributed to Israeli counsellors via an announcement posted on a dedicated WhatsApp group. The survey results indicated that 71% of the counsellors receive supervision, where 44% receive individual supervision and 78% group supervision. Sixty-seven percent of the supervision sessions are provided at the school and the rest at the district and in workshops. Regarding experienced counsellors' expectations of the supervisor, a higher proportion than novice counsellors noted the following topics: additional points of view, space for deliberation, new intervention tools, good understanding of their feelings, emotional ventilation, new knowledge in counselling, as well as the wish to receive emotional support and clear guidance. This data suggests that experienced counsellors need regular supervision to enhance their awareness and professionalism and that their needs change throughout their years of work. At the same time, some counsellors still need the dominant and directing presence of a supervisor even after many years of work, a fact that indicates personal aspects that affect the role of the counsellor. This paper contributes additional knowledge concerning experienced school counsellors and suggests expanding the range of possibilities according to counsellors' needs.
