Abstract

Summary: A new measurement method for determination Solid State nuclear track by the change of the specific heat capacity is proposed. The feasibility of the method is discussed in both theory and practice, to determine the solid state nuclear tracks by specific heat capacity when annealing. In the research, the change of the specific heat capacity is related with nuclear track numbers after annealing and it could be measured and verified time after time. The theory and experiments are introduced with details. The potential applications of this method in the future are discussed, such as determination of the neutron flux at high lever reactors and geologic age of the geological samples. 10. Fabrication of the Novel Hybridized AZ31B Mg/CeO2+ZrO2Composites via Multiple pass Friction Stir Processing

Abstract

The mixture of the rare-earth CeO2and ZrO2particulates was used for fabricating the hybridized AZ31BMg/(CeO2+ZrO2)pcomposites by utilizing friction stir processing with a multiple-tool pass strategy. The structure, mechanical properties (tensile strength and hardness), tribological performances (wear properties) and corrosion behaviours of the hybrid composites were examined. The findings reveal the elimination of tunnel-like defects and clustering of the CeO2+ZrO2particles in the composite after the multiple passes of the tool due to the successive mechanical stirring-assisted material flow. The rise in the tool passes reduced the mean grain sizes (7.91-3.02 μm), the particle sizes (5.47 - 2.28 μm), the average friction coefficient (0.45 - 0.18) and the specific wear rate (4.26 × 10−5- 2.17 × 10−5mm3/Nm) of the composite. The tensile strength (172 - 239 MPa), and the corrosion performance of the hybrid composite were also improved via the multiple tool pass strategy. Multiple tool pass is thus recommended for the fabrication of Mg-based hybrid composites.

11. A hybrid composite of H 2 V 3 O 8 and graphene for aqueous lithium-ion batteries with enhanced electrochemical performance.

Abstract

Aqueous rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (ARLBs) are regarded as a competitive challenger for large-scale energy storage systems because of their high safety, modest cost, and green nature. A kind of modified composite material composed of H 2 V 3 O 8 nanorods and graphene sheets (HVO/G) has been effectively made by a one-step hydrothermal method and following calcination at 523 K. XRD, SEM, TEM, and TG are used to determine the phase structures and morphologies of the composite materials. Owing to the advantage of the layered structure of H 2 V 3 O 8 nanorods, the excellent conductivity of the graphene sheets, and the 3D network structure of the modified composite, the ARLBs with HVO/G can deliver an adequate specific capacity of 271 mA h g -1 at 200 mA g -1 and have a retention rate of 73.4% after 50 cycles. The average discharge capacity of ARLB with HVO/G as anode has a considerable improvement over that of HVO/CNTs and HVO, whatever the current rate used. Moreover, we find that the diffusion coefficient of lithium-ion increases by an order of magnitude through the theoretical calculation for HVO/G ARLB. The new ARLB with HVO/G electrode is a potential energy storage system with great advantages, such as simple preparation, easy assembly process, excellent safety and low-cost environmental protection., Competing Interests: There are no conflicts to declare., (This journal is © The Royal Society of Chemistry.)
