This study aims to enhance the performance of inorganic perovskite light‐emitting diodes (PeLEDs) by incorporating porous silica (p‐SiO2) to fabricate perovskite‐composite films for electroluminescence (EL) devices. This is because, in addition to the inorganic perovskite material, composites with inherently stable materials are needed for perovskite to ensure additional external stability. The introduced p‐SiO2 particles impede the crystal growth of perovskite during the anti‐solvent assisted crystallization process, resulting in the formation of smaller CsPbBr3 crystals in the CsPbBr3/p‐SiO2 composite film. Accordingly, compared to previous CsPbBr3 films, this composite film exhibits two folds with higher photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) due to improved crystalline formation. Surprisingly, the CsPbBr3/p‐SiO2 composite film additionally has good water‐resistant properties because the residual cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) molecules are extracted from the p‐SiO2 particles and are oriented at the top surface of the CsPbBr3/p‐SiO2 composite film. The EL device fabricated with this composite film exhibits outstanding luminescence efficiency, with a current efficiency (CE) of 70.06 cd A−1 and an external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 16.97%, surpassing control samples by two folds of magnitude. Furthermore, the operational stability improves approximately sevenfold compared to the control, presenting a promising strategy for advancing the field of inorganic perovskite ELs. Binary arrays, that were composed of monodisperse zirconia nanoparticles with a particle size of 2.0 nm and monodisperse iron oxide nanoparticles with particles sizes of 3.3 and 1.8 nm, are used for synthesis of discrete single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNCTs) with uniform diameters of 3.0 and 1.8 nm. The results clearly demonstrate that the prevention of the agglomeration of iron oxide nanoparticles by mixing with zirconia nanoparticles was critical for the synthesis of uniform-sized SWNCTs.

The detection of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is essential in many research fields, including medical diagnosis, food safety, and environmental monitoring. In this context, Au-based bimetallic alloy nanomaterials have attracted increasing attention as an alternative to enzymes due to their superior catalytic activity. In this study, we report a coreduction synthesis of gold–copper (Au–Cu) alloy nanoparticles in aqueous phase. By controlling the amount of Au and Cu precursors, the Au/Cu molar ratio of the nanoparticles can be tuned from 1/0.1 to 1/2. The synthesized Au–Cu alloy nanoparticles show good peroxidase-like catalytic activity and high selectivity for the H2O2-mediated oxidation of 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB, colorless) to TMB oxide (blue). The Au–Cu nanoparticles with an Au/Cu molar ratio of 1/2 exhibit high catalytic activity in the H2O2 colorimetric detection, with a limit of detection of 0.141 μM in the linear range of 1–10 μM and a correlation coefficient R2 = 0.991. Furthermore, the Au–Cu alloy nanoparticles can also efficiently detect glucose in the presence of glucose oxidase (GOx), and the detection limit is as low as 0.26 μM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A simple method of synthesizing a large quantity of TiO(2) nanorods was developed. A nonhydrolytic sol-gel reaction between titanium(IV) isopropoxide and oleic acid at 270 degrees C generated 3.4 nm (diameter) x 38 nm (length) sized TiO(2) nanocrystals. The transmission electron microscopic image showed that the particles have a uniform diameter distribution. X-ray diffraction and selected-area electron diffraction patterns combined with high-resolution transmission electron microscopic image showed that the TiO(2) nanorods are highly crystalline anatase crystal structure grown along the [001] direction. The diameters of the TiO(2) nanorods were controlled by adding 1-hexadecylamine to the reaction mixture as a cosurfactant. TiO(2) nanorods with average sizes of 2.7 nm x 28 nm, 2.2 nm x 32 nm, and 2.0 nm x 39 nm were obtained using 1, 5, and 10 mmol of 1-hexadecylamine, respectively. The optical absorption spectrum of the TiO(2) nanorods exhibited that the band gap of the nanorods was 3.33 eV at room temperature, which is 130 meV larger than that of bulk anatase (3.2 eV), demonstrating the quantum confinement effect. Oleic acid coordinated on the nanorod surface was removed by the reduction of the carboxyl group of oleic acid, and the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area of the resulting naked TiO(2) nanorods was 198 m(2)/g. The naked TiO(2) nanorods exhibited higher photocatalytic activity than the P-25 photocatalyst for the photocatalytic inactivation of E. coli.
