9. Distributed fault detection and estimation in cyber-physical systems subject to actuator faults

Abstract

The fault detection and estimation problems for the physical layer network in the cyber-physical systems with unknown external disturbances are investigated in this study. Both bias fault and loss of efficiency scenarios are considered for the actuators. Based on the adaptive threshold method and sliding mode observer approach, a distributed fault detection observer (DFDO) is constructed for each physical layer node to detect the occurrence of actuator faults. Then a relative global estimation error system is defined for the distributed fault estimation observer (DFEO). Compared with the existing results, the proposed DFEO can provide the estimation for not only the actuator bias faults but also the actuators’ efficiency factors under the impact of exogenous disturbance with two gain dynamic update processes. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the given DFDO and the DFEO are examined by Lyapunov stability method and the simulation results.

11. Integrated fault estimation and fault tolerant attitude control for rigid spacecraft with multiple actuator faults and saturation.

Abstract

This study proposes an integrated fault estimation (FE) and fault‐tolerant control design for a rigid spacecraft attitude system with inertia uncertainties, external disturbances, input saturation, and different type multiple actuator faults. A barrier function is first introduced to eliminate the effects of inertia uncertainties and disturbances in the design of the sliding mode FE observer. By using the non‐singular fast terminal sliding mode control technology, a finite‐time fault‐tolerant attitude stabilisation controller and a finite‐time fault‐tolerant attitude tracking controller are designed to guarantee that the closed‐loop attitude system has a good fault‐tolerant performance under actuator faults. Furthermore, when considering actuator saturation, an auxiliary system is utilised to compensate for the saturation. The stability of the closed‐loop system is analysed by Lyapunov theory. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed control approach is demonstrated via simulation results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
