This thesis has, as its object of study, the European tableware for domestic use exhumed in the second archaeological intervention carried out at the RS JA 06 site (Pra?a Rui Barbosa), in 2009, in the city of Porto Alegre (RS), where the Shopping Mall is located today. Popular Shopping Center or Popular Shopping Center. The crockery referred to here comprises the items used in the table and kitchen, such as tea and coffee services and dining appliances. The proposed temporal cut starts in 1837 when the area is designated to be a collective dump and ends in 1895 when a layer of cobblestone is placed in the area. This research aims to analyze the insertion of the city of Porto Alegre (RS) in the European model of civility and consumption, from the analysis of the trajectory of European tableware for domestic use; passing through its production, commercialization, consumption and disposal stages. Therefore, it was necessary to analyze the trade, consumption and civility networks, formed between the crockery producing centers, on the European continent, to the Porto Alegre distribution centers, in the second half of the 19th century. It is also intended to investigate the strategies used for the insertion and maintenance of European tableware in the market. The guiding concepts of this work are: civility (ELIAS), capitalism (WALLERSTEIN), cultural translation (BURKER) and distinction (BOURDIEU). These are dialogued throughout the text with some of the various sources found in the course of the research, such as customs and lace table correspondence, newspapers, yearbooks, provincial laws, codes of police postures in the city of Porto Alegre ( RS), travellers' diaries, field notebooks, partial excavation report, material culture present in archaeological artifacts and their registration forms. Therefore, we seek to understand the relationship between the aforementioned tableware and the changes in the habits and customs of Porto Alegre society. The crockery, in this thesis, plays the fundamental role of a guiding thread. From the analysis of the trajectory of the mentioned tableware, it was possible to understand the strategies of insertion and permanence of the same in the consumer market, especially in the city of Porto Alegre. A more in-depth study of the sources also provided a better understanding of the stages of manufacture, commercialization, consumption and disposal of tableware, as well as understanding the process of formation of consumption networks and civility, the similarities and differences. In this paper we analyze new aspects of the territories of design, ceramics and teaching in art education. We review the concept of the crockery elements and boarded the table hierarchies, combining historical, aesthetic and educational issues, covering the tradition which relates the uses of food and design between the Medieval Era and modern times. We claim the role of the artisan-craftsman as a concept which relates the production of objects with school work from perception of pragmatist sociologist Richard Sennett.

- Abstract
Most of the take away materials used today is made of plastic. This presents a huge challenge in terms of waste management and pollution. It is widely known that plastic takes several hundred to thousand years to decompose, releasing toxic substances in the process. Therefore, the aim of this work was to analyze alternatives to plastic takeaway cutlery, crockery from areca palm and coconut tree by products. This focuses on reviving the methods and knowledge that existed in the southern and central parts of the Indian subcontinent for making sustainable cutlery and crockery products used in everyday life. A market analysis, design, life cycle analysis and deeper research on the fabrication will be briefly presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
An outbreak of gastroenteritis affected 453 attendees (attack rate 28·5%) of six separate events held at a hotel in Singapore. Active case detection, case-control studies, hygiene inspections and microbial analysis of food, environmental and stool samples were conducted to determine the aetiology of the outbreak and the modes of transmission. The only commonality was the food, crockery and cutlery provided and/or handled by the hotel's Chinese banquet kitchen. Stool specimens from 34 cases and 15 food handlers were positive for norovirus genogroup II. The putative index case was one of eight norovirus-positive food handlers who had worked while they were symptomatic. Several food samples and remnants tested positive for Escherichia coli or high faecal coliforms, aerobic plate counts and/or total coliforms, indicating poor food hygiene. This large common-source outbreak of norovirus gastroenteritis was caused by the consumption of contaminated food and/or contact with contaminated crockery or cutlery provided or handled by the hotel's Chinese banquet kitchen. Head injuries are very common in children. All over the world, the most common mechanism is fall. These injuries are more prevalent in developing countries due to lack of education, poverty, lack of standard and scientific ways to child upbringing. Penetrating injuries in pediatric patients is extremely uncommon and usually occur due to sharp objects like knife, screw driver, drills, nails. We are reporting a rare case of a child with penetrating head injury due to tea cup, very commonly used crockery in every house hold. To the best of our knowledge, no similar case has ever been reported in world literature. Our case also emphasized the need for educating people about child care.

Contacts and, then, regular exchanges between the coastal peoples and the Mediterranean world had an impact at different levels. From the viewpoint of the pottery, turned vases arrival was a turning point in everyday life. The decrease of local not turned vases and the impoverishment of shapes marks the decline of a tradition, but imported ware introduces new practices and creates some emulation. A comparative analysis of a few cases of the Languedoc-Roussillon (France) shows choices, which led to the formation, on the coast, of four human groups, different through their dishes., Les contacts, puis les échanges réguliers, entre les peuples du littoral et le monde méditerranéen ont eu des conséquences à différents niveaux.

- Abstract
Finalmente, el trabajo ofrecerá, sin duda alguna, un marco de comparación cronotipológica de referencia para el estudio de la cerámica en futuras investigaciones arqueológicas desarrolla-das en este ámbito geográfico., The archaeological excavations carried out at the monastery of San Juan Bautista de Corias between 2005 and 2012 provided the most complex, varied and extensive ceramic record currently documented in the south-west of Asturias. In this paper we present the characterization and analysis of a part of this pottery set. We have organized the evidence in chronological groups, technological groups and produc-tion groups, within 1560 to 1835 AD chronology. On the other hand, the Expense’s Account Records from the 18th century found in the monastery offer valuable in-formation on the acquisition of pottery by this community. The cross-study of both records, material and textual, unveils an accurate radiography on the monastic community consumption habits. Furthermore, it gives insight into the monks’ ca-pacity to access different productions of local, Iberian and foreign pottery throug-hout the three occupation phases of the Benedictine establishment in the Modern Age. Finally, this work will undoubtedly offer a chronotypological framework for the comparison and study of ceramics in future archaeological investigations in this geographical area.

[EN] Tableware design for creative cuisine replies to the new gastronomic culture. It is because of that it is necessary to conform tableware to the new cuisine and to get to provide the user the possibility of experience sensorialy, by other way, the moment she/he sits down for eating. This design project has two purposes: first, it will allow Chef to increase the intention of her/his culinary art by the tableware design (by how the meal is showed and the way of using tableware for eating the food), and the second one is that the user will be able to appreciate a meal that is expressly designed for being served only in that kind of tableware. Interrelation between meal and tablewear is clear, tableware goes from being a merely functional container to be a support that simulates each food's sensorial facets. In conclusion it is transdormed to an element which facilitates gastronomic experiences. In this project is developed a detailed design of a modern support for creative cuisine and it has the purpose of increasing the gastronomic experience., [CA] El disseny de vaixella per a la cuina creativa respon a la nova cultura gastronòmica. This work deals with the study of the material remains relevant to the home of the first mayor of the town of Puan. This residence was built at the end of the nineteenth century and has the distinction of being located on the island of Puan, in the eponymous lagoon, at the western end of the Ventania's system, within the southern sector of the Area Ecotonal Húmedo Seca Pampeana. Currently the island is a natural and cultural reserve, but despite being protected introduces important consequences of human activities, product of its proximity to the current town of the capital city of the district. From 1987 to date, developed archaeological investigations related to the pre-Hispanic occupation of the island, which determined the identification of four archaeological sites in different parts of the island and two concentrations of materials on the banks of the lagoon, whose age reaches approximately 3300 years A.P. On the other hand, in the Northwest corner of the island important evidence related to the institutional history of the town, are located goes into which one can mention the structures belonging to the house of Rómulo Franco, the first mayor of Puan. This construction was abandoned in the twentieth century, given the difficulties that presented the island to hold a still small population in extreme weather conditions, which has also led to vary its appearance, becoming a peninsula at certain moments in history. In the town there are oral stories about possible burial of weapons or other elements belonging to the time of Rómulo Franco, which adds a mystical value to the body of evidence from this period., Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Museo

[EN] In this paper, we present the incredible discovery of various wooden objects found during the excavations at the ancient Fábrica de Tabacos in Gijón that took place between 2007 and 2009. The objects were thrown into the water tank during the time of abandonment, dated from early 6th century ad. Among these were pieces of crockery, wooden containers, buckets, a chair and other objects such as well lintel. This study allows us to determine the function of unique pieces and the dating of each of the materials appeared by the radiocarbon method dating back to the early 6th century ad until the 10th century. This was an unusual undertaking for the Iberian Peninsula that succeeded thanks to the climate conditions of the region where the objects were found –such as the low ground water level– all of which allowed for an extraordinary preservation of these objects.

Article deals with the interior of dwellings in Chernihiv-Siverskyi region (in the 2nd half of the ХVІІІ – 1st half of the ХІХ cent.). On the example of towns Baturyn, Glukhiv, Borzna and Krolevets the article deals with the house interiors of the population of Chernihovo-Sivershchyna (the second half of the XVIII – mid. XIX cent.). The analysis is based on considerable descriptive material concerning Ukrainian customs and way of life that has accumulated in the middle and especially in the second half of the XIX cent. and led to scientific adjusted conclusion about the comparative characteristics of Ukrainians and Russians. This topic was researched by M. Markevych, I. Sreznevskyi, P. Kulish and others. A significant contribution to the study of this subject belongs to historian M. Kostomarov, who singled Ukrainian cultural and traditional existential complex out of all-Russian complex, that was considered unified for more than three centuries of coexistence within a single empire. Also, this article characterizes the division of the house on special parts and identifies the main sacred centres of the house. The attention is given to the fact that the Ukrainian housing is associated with many beliefs and rituals. It indicates that the dwelling-house reflects not only people’s ideological and artistic heritage, but also a pragmatic idea. After all, the house seemed a model of nature and the universe, which protected both physically and spiritually. We know that house was not only a place where the family spent most of its life, but it was the family hearth around which ancient and beautiful traditions were preserved. The author emphasizes the deep symbolic ritual value that Ukrainians gave to all subjects of domestic interior and the lyrical attachment to their place of residence. After all, the house had a kind of sacred meaning for its tenants, that is why, to the house and all domestic things people gave some philosophical content. Complexity of representations of the world for humans began from the dwelling and was a dominant through all life. It is revealed that a Ukrainian house with its aesthetic appearance and its interior in particular, is an important factor in the understanding of the Ukrainian people and makes the character unique, and one that is very different from the characteristics of other nations. The author concluded that this topic needs a further study.

Traditionally, in the northeastern peninsula, the introduction of the first indicators of Mediterranean influence in relation to the consumption of wine, is dated to the second half of the sixth century BC (ionian cups, Attic kylix, Attic black-figure). Nevertheless, in the lower Ebro valley, the exceptional frequency of Phoenician trade shows clear evolution of the ceramic repertoire during the sixth and seventh centuries BC, a fact that makes it possible to evaluate the occurrence of certain ceramic products that show the existence of significant changes in the portfolio of objects associated with the ritual practices of community consumption. In this article we evaluate the adoption of oinochoe in relation to the first signs of renewal being experienced by the indigenous materials associated with drinking. The goal is to represent a stage of fundamental social changes during which ideology shows a significant increase in importance.
