This study delves into the cultural significance and educational potential of Hua'er folk songs within the Hui ethnic communities of Gansu and Ningxia in northwest China. By positioning Hua'er as an indispensable educational tool in folk song history, the research seeks to safeguard and elevate this revered musical tradition. Employing literature reviews, immersive fieldwork, questionnaire surveys, interviews with four significant contributors, and direct observations, the study sheds light on the importance of Hua'er music as a cultural legacy. These insights offer valuable guidance for educators, cultural institutions, and future research initiatives. Through a detailed exposition of the research methodology, this study enriches our understanding of the diverse landscape of Chinese folk song history, presenting avenues for further exploration and practical application in educational contexts.

English for young learners (EYL) teachers have practiced some creative activities to maintain their pupils' learning with natural exposure to the target language amidst the pandemic. One activity practiced by Indonesian and Korean teachers was an international collaboration to perform a virtual drama of each country's folktale. This phenomenological research aimed at tapping the teachers' perceptions regarding interculturality and world Englishes (WE) in the virtual dramatic play collaboratively conducted and delving into their commitments in honing interculturality and WE. Two Indonesian and Korean teachers were involved in three sessions of in-depth interviews using pre-prepared interview questions. The trustworthiness of the data was achieved by the group discussions allowing the participants to comment on and revise the transcribed data, as well as triangulation by two international collaborators. Thematic analysis was performed to identify emerging themes and to provide novel insights into EYL teachers' encounters with interculturality and WE. The Indonesian and Korean teachers admitted the compatibility between language and culture, the urgency of introducing varieties of English, and the merits of conducting international collaboration to promote interculturality and WE. The teachers are committed to integrate interculturality and WE in their instructions despite some differences in the stipulated curricula.

The Qin Zheng, an ancient Chinese musical instrument, embodies centuries of cultural heritage and artistic expression. Amidst its strings, melodies resonate with stories of ancient China, reflecting the country's rich history and cultural identity. The objective of this study is to analyze the Qin Zheng playing techniques of Zhou Wang in musical literacy development. The research investigates Zhou Wang's historical development, pedagogical approach, and playing techniques through a qualitative analysis. The study focuses on the Xi'an Conservatory of Music as the primary research site, where Zhou Wang has taught and mentored students for over three decades. Key informants include Zhou Wang herself, her students, and colleagues in the field of Chinese musical education. Data analysis involves structured interviews, observations of performances and teaching sessions, and transcription of musical examples. The findings reveal Zhou Wang's mastery of Qin Zheng techniques, including intricate right-hand and left-hand skills, and their significance in fostering musical literacy development. The study highlights the potential benefits of integrating music education, particularly traditional Chinese music like Qin Zheng, into curricula as a means to enrich students' language skills, cognitive abilities, and emotional intelligence.

Oral folklore tradition is a unique phenomenon in West Borneo. This study aims to gain the lecturer's perspectives and reflection toward its implementation as a project-based activity for encouraging university students to transform local folklore into texts in English. It combines Finnegan's instructional procedure, and Gordon's synectic model and the creative state, which has been defined as creative instruction. Multiple observations and an in-depth interview with the folklore lecturer were conducted for this qualitative investigation. The lecturer is recognized as being exceptionally representative of this study employing purposive sampling under lived experience study because of his proficiency and enthusiasm. Having this creative instruction under supervision makes it clear that there is more room for the student's imagination and creativity to grow throughout this project-based activity. It gives them freedom to freely pursue their interests. Without excluding the possibilities of use in areas where there is still local folklore, this creative instruction is specifically suited for regions that are still rich in oral tradition. Further research is essential, nevertheless, as this study does not go into great detail on the perspectives and involvement among various students, the diversity of cultures and geographies, or the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI).

People's lives tend to the outside world, leading to the waning of cultural preservation values due to the ease with which foreign cultural influences enter and threaten the existence of local culture. To avoid the decline of the younger generation's interest in traditional art, it is necessary to carry out an idea of preservation through education, in this case, social studies subjects at school. This study aims to analyze the relationship between traditional art and social studies as a learning resource. The traditional art discussed in this study is panting music which is traditional arts in South Kalimantan. This is done to get a pattern for preserving traditional arts through social studies subjects. The research method used is qualitative. Data collection is done through observation, interviews, and documentation. Informant this research panting music players, and social studies teachers. The various data obtained are then reduced, presented, and then concluded. The researcher triangulated and extended the observations. The study's results confirmed panting music performance activities could be packaged as social studies learning resources. This is done by integrating class VII textbooks on the theme of cultural and ethnic diversity in the Indonesian traditional musical.

Reading is a basic literacy that plays an important role in the intellectual development of students. Based on various surveys, it was identified that the reading competence of Indonesian students was very low. The research aims was to implement educative comics based on local folktale and examine its effect on increasing reading literacy of rural primary school students. The research is a quasi-experimental design with pre-test-post-test non-equivalent control group design. The participants were 3rd grade elementary school students in rural Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. Sampling was done by purposive sampling and cluster random sampling technique. There were 58 students in the experimental group and 56 students in the control group from 2 different elementary schools, but their qualifications were both in the good category. In learning to read, the experimental group used educational comic books containing local folktales while the control group used texts containing local folktale. Reading literacy competency data was obtained through paper and pencil tests. The data obtained were analysed descriptively and inferentially using t-test. The results of the study prove that there is a significant effect of educational comics based on local folktale on students' reading literacy competence. Local folktale supported by images is suspected to facilitate the availability of context so that the substance of the text is easier to understand. Therefore, teachers are advised to use image support in learning to cover learning losses due to the pandemic, especially in rural schools which experience many obstacles in distance learning.

This research investigates the transmission of Maoqiang opera, focusing on the iconic repertoire "Zhao Meirong Guan Deng" and its role in preserving cultural heritage in the Shandong Peninsula. The objective is to investigate the role and social function of Maoqiang Chinese opera in transmitting cultural heritage through education. The research site encompasses various academic institutions and community-based events in Jiaozhou City, where key informants, including Maoqiang opera practitioners and local authorities, provide insights into the transmission process. Data analysis involves qualitative methods, including interviews, observations, and document analysis, to elucidate the multifaceted role of "Zhao Meirong Guan Deng" in cultural transmission. Methodologically, the research employs a mixed-methods approach to capture the complexity of Maoqiang opera transmission and its societal impact. The research results highlight the enduring legacy of Maoqiang opera and the effectiveness of incorporating traditional repertoire into educational curricula, fostering an appreciation for intangible cultural heritage among diverse audiences. Suggestions for future research include exploring innovative transmission strategies, leveraging digital media, and strengthening collaboration between cultural institutions and educational stakeholders.

This study investigates storytelling knowledge and functions embodied in different ethnic folktales and seeks to identify ethnic secondary students' attitudes towards storytelling using a picture series. Fifteen folktales were collected from storytellers belonging to four ethnic groups in Chiang Khong District, Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. One Hmong story, adapted into a lesson using a picture series, was used to instruct 11 Hmong secondary students. Afterwards, these students reflected on their learning through the picture series by responding to a set of questionnaires and open-response questions. The data were then analyzed using a story-analysis framework, descriptive statistics, and content analysis techniques. Findings revealed that the content found in the ethnic folktales can be categorized into six major typologies: gods and goddesses, parental gratitude, love and family, magic spells and ghosts, life and destiny, and animals. These stories were divided into two primary groups. The first group consists of eight stories with multiple types of knowledge and two functions. The second group contains seven stories with a single type of knowledge and two functions. The stories with multiple types of knowledge and two functions contain moral lessons intended to promote positive actions and behavioral changes. Additionally, the results revealed that the students surveyed held positive attitudes towards using a picture series for their learning through storytelling. They perceived that picture series can reinforce language and cultural learning, develop analytical thinking skills, and increase storytelling abilities. Therefore, this study shows that Hmong students can use their local stories as a way to learn English and understand cultural values, beliefs, identities, and ideologies when communicating with others.

The preservation and transmission of cultural knowledge about bronze drums in Donglan County, Guangxi, China, is crucial for protecting a valuable cultural heritage that has been passed down through generations. In Guangxi, Guizhou, and Yunnan, several ethnic groups, such as the Zhuang, Buyi, Miao, and others, still include bronze drums in their cultural practices. These drums function as visible connections to ancient customs and are actively conserved through on-site visits and recordings of performances. Donglan County in Guangxi is crucial to this effort, as it has been officially designated as a national-level zone for the protection of both cultural and ecological resources starting in 2023. This project emphasizes the dedication to protecting intangible cultural resources, with cooperation between communities and educational institutions guaranteeing the transfer of this cultural knowledge to future generations through education. The clear differentiation between male and female bronze drums, as well as their specific acoustic characteristics, contributes to the cultural wealth of this heritage. This is preserved through cultural events and educational programs, ensuring its lasting importance for future generations.

This study investigates the role of speaking the Jing language in the contemporary context of China's active engagement with Vietnam. Based on the fieldwork conducted in Dongxing Guangxi in January 2024, the study shows that the Jing language plays an important role in both maintaining the cultural heritage as pride and empowering the educational and employment trajectories as profit. More importantly, the capacity of speaking the Jing language can contribute to the social and medical communication between China and Vietnam. This can be manifested in terms of cultural communication with Vietnam and medical treatment for Vietnamese migrants. However, speaking the Jing language as pride is not always consistent with speaking the Jing language as profit. The internal differentiation within Vietnamese varieties may cause communication barriers for Jing speakers. The limited development of the Jing language also creates another layer of communication challenges for Jing people engaging in professional practices. How to mobilize the Jing language to facilitate the bilateral communication between China and Vietnam deserves our attention for future studies. The study has enriched the scope of the studies on language planning and policy in the borderlands. The study can shed lights on implementing language policy in China's border provinces and provide practical implications to facilitate the political and economic communication between China and other neighbouring countries for border prosperity and border stability.

This study investigates the role of Yu Shuxi in the transmission and preservation of Pingdiao Sanxianshu, an intangible cultural heritage, within the context of literacy and education. By analyzing the cultural significance and pedagogical practices of Yu Shuxi's artistry, the research explores the impact of traditional folk arts on literacy development and cultural identity formation. Utilizing qualitative methods, including interviews with key informants and field observations in Baofeng County, Henan Province, the study captures the intricate relationship between individual biographies and broader educational practices. Data analysis reveals how Yu Shuxi's life story and teachings in Pingdiao Sanxianshu contribute to cultural preservation and literacy skills among learners, emphasizing the need for integration of traditional arts in modern education. The results indicate the potential of such arts to enhance critical thinking, linguistic abilities, and cultural literacy. Consequently, the research suggests collaborative measures across educational institutions, governmental policies, and community efforts to ensure the viability and relevance of traditional folk arts like Pingdiao Sanxianshu in contemporary society, maintaining their legacy for future generations.

Bayu folk songs, rooted in the cultural heritage of the Chongqing, Guizhou, and Hunan regions in China, embody the essence of local identity and tradition. This study aimed to investigate the musical form and performance techniques of Bayu folk songs, offering insights into preserving and transmitting cultural heritage within educational contexts. Through interviews and observations conducted with 14 key informants from diverse backgrounds, including inheritors, local villagers, cultural center leaders, and relevant experts, the research examines the cultural preservation, musical diversity, and transmission challenges of Bayu folk songs within educational settings. The study's results are based on a thematic analysis of qualitative data collected through structured interviews and observation forms. These findings show how vital Bayu folk songs are for building community identity, keeping culture alive, and passing it down from generation to generation. The research underscores the importance of developing standardized guidelines, increasing access to educational resources, and fostering collaboration between academic institutions and cultural stakeholders to promote the preservation and transmission of Bayu cultural heritage within educational settings.

Southern Shaanxi, rich in folk song culture, faces significant challenges in preserving its musical heritage due to rapid modernization, technological advancements, and social changes. The primary objective is to investigate the educational literacy development and transmission processes of Chinese folk songs in Southern Shaanxi under contemporary status. The research site encompasses cities like Hanzhong and Ankang, with seven key informants, including folk song practitioners, educators, cultural experts, students, and community members, provided insights through interviews, observations, and document analysis. Thematic analysis was employed to identify patterns and themes related to educational literacy development, transmission processes, and cultural influences. The results indicate that integrating folk songs into educational curricula enhances language acquisition, critical thinking, emotional expression, and cognitive skills while revealing challenges such as the loss of traditional environments, the complexity of singing techniques, and economic constraints. The study suggests embracing technological innovations, fostering community involvement, and implementing supportive policies to sustain the transmission of Chinese folk songs and promote cultural literacy among younger generations.

The application of an integrative approach in fairy tale therapy is a cutting-edge method for safeguarding the mental well-being of the younger generation in the era of digital education. The unique aspect of integrative fairy tale therapy is the integration of various methodologies, pedagogical approaches, linguistic techniques, art history, and psychotherapeutic methods within a single fairy tale framework. These are then tailored to the individual psyches of children, with the aim of fostering a well-rounded and healthy personality. Utilising fairy tale therapy techniques in the spiritual and moral growth of students can provide valuable insights into the effective implementation of fairy tale therapy programmes for preschoolers and schoolchildren. These programmes are rooted in the rich oral folk art of the Kazakh people and encompass a harmonious blend of spiritual, national, and universal values. The article reveals theoretical and methodological, general cultural and educational, psychological aspects of the study of fairy tale therapy as an integrative technology. The literature review of the main types of fairy tale therapy is also carried out, the functions of fairy tales are reveale. The educational, developmental, and cognitive possibilities of fairy tales are extensively utilised in academic and correctional-developmental activities with students. The importance of preparing future philologists, art historians, social teachers, psychologists, and kindergarten teachers in utilising fairy tale therapy techniques as an integrative technology is emphasised. The article discusses the theoretical, methodological, cultural, educational, and psychological aspects of fairy tale therapy as an integrative technology. Chinese court music from the Zhou Dynasty holds immense cultural and historical significance, reflecting ancient China's sophisticated societal ethos, rituals, and values. The study's objective is to investigate the reviving of literacy in Chinese court music from the Zhou Dynasty at a University in China. The study encompasses a comprehensive literature review exploring ancient Chinese music, educational practices, and cultural preservation efforts. The research primarily focuses on the efforts made at a university in China to reconstruct and promote ancient court music, collaborating with cultural institutions like museums and performance venues. Three key informants include experts in Chinese court music, educators specializing in ancient music education, and students engaged in court music programs. Data analysis involves thematic analysis of qualitative data gathered through observation forms, interview forms, and questionnaires. The research results reveal the significant educational role of court music in moral education, virtue cultivation, and societal harmony. Suggestions for future research include exploring innovative pedagogical approaches, expanding collaborative partnerships, and evaluating long-term sustainability strategies for preserving Chinese court music heritage.

Lusheng is a traditional wind musical instrument cherished by various ethnic minorities in China. The objective of this study is to investigate the role of Lusheng Chinese musical instruments in promoting literacy through educational functions and transmission. Conducted in Guizhou Province, a region rich in ethnic diversity, this study employs qualitative methods and engages two key informants who are local artisans with interview and observation forms. The data analysis reveals multifaceted insights into Lusheng's transmission and promotion. Findings highlight the challenges posed by modernization to traditional craftsmanship, emphasizing the urgency of preserving Lusheng production skills. The inclusion of Lusheng in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list and the establishment of educational programs in primary, and secondary schools, and universities underscore the government's commitment to safeguarding Lusheng culture. Moreover, the research underscores the transformative impact of modern media on Lusheng's dissemination, and cross-cultural engagement is recognized as vital for expanding its influence. Balancing tradition and innovation remains a challenge. The study suggests collaborative efforts among government, academia, and society to develop a comprehensive conservation strategy, ensuring the continued transmission and promotion of Lusheng culture.

Si Zhu Yue music is a traditional Chinese folk music genre characterized by stringed and bamboo wind instruments. It originates from the Yangtze River basin in China. This study aims to propose guidelines for transmitting literacy studies in traditional Chinese folk music in Si Zhu Yue. We synthesize literature to provide insights into the cultural heritages. Three key informants with expertise in Si Zhu Yue music, educational settings, and cultural preservation efforts were purposefully selected to provide diverse perspectives on Si Zhu Yue music's transmission and literacy studies. Data analysis involved qualitative approaches to identify recurring themes, patterns, and insights from interviews and observations. The findings highlight the significance of integrating cultural values into planning processes, the challenges of preservation in the face of modernization and globalization, and the need for innovative approaches to safeguard intangible cultural heritage. Recommendations include prioritizing cultural heritage preservation in planning policies and adopting interdisciplinary approaches to address the complexities of cultural sustainability planning.

Yongning River Boatman Work Songs are traditional folk music from the Yongning River region, performed by boatmen for practical purposes during laborious tasks. The study's objective is to investigate the promotion of education and literacy through the preservation of the Yongning River Boatman Work Song. Three key informants, including an inheritor of intangible cultural heritage, an academic expert, and a cultural heritage preservationist, provide comprehensive insights into this multifaceted topic. Data was analyzed thematically using a mixed-methods approach, including in-depth interviews, document analysis, and observations. The findings highlight the transformative power of these songs as educational tools, bridging the past and present, fostering cultural identity, and enabling multifaceted learning. Additionally, community collaboration among local individuals, cultural centers, educational institutions, and government authorities plays a pivotal role in preserving and promoting these songs. Successful initiatives for engaging the younger generation ensure the intergenerational transmission of this cultural heritage. This research suggests that cultural preservation, education, and community involvement are intertwined elements that can enrich education and enhance literacy while safeguarding intangible cultural heritage.

The objectives of this research are to study: (i) the history and development of knowledge of Yiwulv Mountain Manchu paper-cutting art, and (ii) the process of designing and developing digital media for learning about cultural heritage. This research used qualitative research methods. By studying documents and collecting field data by surveys, interviews, observations, group discussions, and workshops. The data was elicited from a group of 40 participants. The analysis was based on the objectives and the results were presented in a descriptive analytical manner. The results are as follows: (i) The art of paper-cutting is related to history and culture. There is a unique cultural identity of the Manchus on Yiwulv Mountain. The way of conveying knowledge is told orally. Currently, there is a problem due to the age of paper-cutting artists and lack of inheritance. Therefore, it is necessary to find ways to protect them as well as transfer them to youth and those who are interested. (ii) The art of paper-cutting is applied with 3D animation technology to inherit and learn the art of Yiwulv Mountain Manchu paper-cutting. The teaching materials created can be explained in detail from the perspective and content. The design combines virtual tour technology to make it interesting. Learners study through digital media and computer systems, which makes it convenient to access information.

This research employs a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating musicology and ethnomusicology, to explore the cultural significance of Huaibang Opera--a traditional Chinese Han ethnic local opera genre in Henan province, China. The investigation encompasses the historical evolution, cultural contexts, and musical attributes of Huaibang Opera, aiming to contribute to education, literacy, and a deeper comprehension of this traditional art form. The methodology involves interviews with key informants possessing profesional experience in Huaibang Opera, coupled with live performance observations. Through the analysis of collected data and its alignment with existing literature and theoretical frameworks, the study delineates the evolution of Huaibang Opera from a folk song art form to a prototype opera and its subsequent establishment as a local opera. This comprehensive examination sheds light on the cultural and artistic dimensions of education and literacy within Huaibang Opera, providing valuable insights into the historical significance, artistic expressions, and cultural heritage of this distinctive Chinese opera.

Youyang folk songs represent a significant component of China's intangible cultural heritage from Youyang County in Chongqing Municipality, China. The study objective is to analyze the education literacy in preserving and transmitting Youyang Chinese folk songs within the cultural context of Chongqing Municipality, China. The research content encompasses various aspects, including integrating folk songs into educational curricula, artistic engagement in rural communities, government initiatives for transmission enhancement, and preservation through publication and book distribution. The research site primarily focuses on Youyang County, renowned for its cultural heritage and ethnic traditions. Three key informants include governmental bodies, educational institutions, private organizations, and individual custodians involved in preservation efforts. Data analysis involves qualitative methods such as document analysis and interviews with stakeholders. The research results highlight a concerted effort from stakeholders to preserve and transmit Youyang folk songs, emphasizing the importance of legislative support, increased funding, and community involvement in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. Suggestions for further improvement include strengthening legislative support, increasing funding for preservation efforts, and enhancing community involvement in protecting intangible cultural heritage.

The Poya Songbook, an integral part of Zhuang traditional culture, embodies rich music and folklore passed down through generations. This study aims to examine the historical development and literacy transmission of the Poya Songbook for education and literacy studies in Funing County, Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. Drawing upon a combination of ethnographic methods and semiotic analysis, the research delves into the intricate journey of the Poya Songbook, contrasting its state before and after the pivotal year 2006, when it received official recognition as an intangible cultural heritage. Three key informants, deeply rooted in the local cultural milieu, provide valuable insights into the songbook's transformation, its role in education, and the challenges of preserving its authenticity amidst modern influences. The data analysis discerns shifts in transmission methods, content, and performance, shedding light on the evolving relationship between tradition and cultural identity. The findings underscore the importance of balancing preservation with adaptation to ensure the continued vitality of this cherished cultural heritage. Suggestions for the sustained safeguarding of the Poya Songbook include innovative educational initiatives that integrate its teachings into contemporary curricula, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Zhuang cultural identity.

This study aims to investigate and propose guidelines for literacy transmission and preservation of Bayu folk songs. Drawing upon ethnomusicological research and the intersection of education and cultural preservation, the study explores the cultural significance, diversity, integration, and challenges in transmitting Bayu folk songs. Methodologically, 14 key informants were selected from the Chongqing, Guizhou, and Hunan regions, including inheritors of folk songs, local villagers, leaders of cultural centers, and relevant experts. Data were gathered through interviews and observation forms and analyzed using thematic analysis. Results highlight the profound cultural significance of Bayu folk songs, the rich diversity and integration within Bayu culture, and the challenges in transmission within educational settings. Anhui Phoenix Painting Art explores the intersection of traditional art with digital innovation to enhance education literacy. The study's objective is to investigate the impact of digital innovation in Anhui Phoenix Painting Art on education literacy in the new era. The research content includes a literature review on semiotic theory, cultural identity theory, and digital design theory, highlighting their relevance to the study. The research site encompasses Chuzhou City, Anhui Province, known for its rich history of Phoenix painting art dating back over 600 years. Key informants for the study include artists, educators, and digital media experts familiar with Anhui Phoenix Painting Art. Data analysis involves a combination of qualitative methods such as field surveys, expert interviews, and image composition analysis, along with quantitative methods like questionnaires and data visualization tools. The research results indicate advancements in digital innovation and information integration, enhancing education literacy and cultural preservation. The study suggests continued collaboration between traditional artists and digital technology experts to revitalize folk art forms like Anhui Phoenix Painting and bridge the gap between tradition and modernity.

Local wisdom which is the theme of the project to strengthen the character of Pancasila in the Merdeka Curriculum includes the fading of ancestral culture such as traditional vegetable medicine. Although schools have limited resources for teaching local wisdom through books, students' preference for mobile learning requires a more flexible and practical approach, as seen from the use of Tambakboyo Reservoir's herbal diversity as website content. This research aims to determine the types of herbal plants in the Tambakboyo Reservoir and their suitability as learning media. This R&D research uses the ADDIE model which is limited to the development stage. There are 62 types of Indonesian herbal plants in Tambakboyo Reservoir. The results of reviews by material experts, media experts, practitioners, and student readability tests on the herbal plants website show that the media is declared appropriate and meets the assessment criteria and can then be continued with implementation.

The complexity of the reproductive system necessitates instructional media to facilitate comprehension, as its processes unfold internally and are not readily observable. This study aims to assess the viability of booklet sub-materials on fertilization, gestation, and childbirth, derived from the inventory findings of medicinal plants for postpartum care, as educational resources. The research and development used the Borg & Gall model which included identifying potential problems, data collection, product design, design validation, and product revision. The booklet media underwent validation by five validators using validation sheets, while the evaluation criteria encompassed format, content, and language proficiency. The validation data were analyzed using CVR (Content Validity Ratio) and CVI (Content Validity Index). The results of the booklet media validation obtained a CVR value on each criterion of 1.00 with a valid category and a CVI value of 1.00 with a valid category. The booklet on the subject of gestational fertilization and childbirth from the results of the inventory of medicinal plants for postpartum is suitable for use as a learning media.

This comparative study looks into the image of the wolf in Genghis Aitmatov's "Plakha" and Jack London's "White Fang." For this purpose, first, the concept of the wolf in fiction is discussed, and the representation of wolves in these two texts is analyzed. This study explores the relationship between wolves and human beings as expressed in the texts in a way that helps understand the image of the wolf with specific cultural beliefs and practices that find aspirations in the text mentioned. The study concludes that Aitmatov associates Kazakh people with the wolf, unlike London's wolf, whose existence does not center around issues of freedom and independence.

The study on the preservation and transmission of Lusheng knowledge in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, China, yields important findings. It begins by detailing the traditional 6-pipe Lusheng's production process, stressing its employment on numerous cultural occasions but its limited applicability for solo performances owing to its narrow tonal range. Throughout, regional differences in Lusheng scale configurations contribute to a variety of musical styles. Mr. Dong Dan Gan is a key figure in the growth of Lusheng instruments. It starts with the 8-pipe Lusheng, then moves on to the 11-pipe version, which expands tonal potential. Subsequent variations, such as the 12-pipe, 13-pipe, 14-pipe, 16-pipe, 19-pipe, and ground-breaking 18-pipe, 21-tone Lusheng, increased adaptability and melodic possibilities even more. Moreover, Lusheng has a wider tone range. These advancements accommodate varied musical traditions and help to preserve and disseminate Lusheng knowledge, strengthening the cultural legacy. And efforts have enhanced Lusheng music greatly, aiding its transmission and cultural continuation.

This study aims to develop comprehensive education and learning guidelines aimed at preserving and protecting Qinghai Mongolian folk songs in China within the broader context of intangible cultural heritage. With a strong theoretical foundation emphasizing the role of education, interdisciplinary approaches, and community engagement, this study employs a multidisciplinary methodology. This includes an extensive literature review, expert consultations, fieldwork, and case studies to develop comprehensive education and learning guidelines for the safeguarding of Qinghai Mongolian folk songs. The historical evolution of Mongolian folk songs, legal frameworks, collaborative efforts, government-led initiatives, the role of social forces, published resources, and higher education institutions all feature prominently in the research results. These findings align with the theoretical principles outlined in the literature review, emphasizing the importance of education, interdisciplinary approaches, and community engagement in ICH preservation. The education and learning guidelines generated by this research serve as a valuable framework for the sustainable protection of Qinghai Mongolian folk songs and offer insights applicable to the preservation of intangible cultural heritage globally.

This research represents a creative exploration in the field of music (Practice as Research: PaR) with the objectives of 1) studying the use of a sampler from Isan instruments and instruments from various cultures to create musical compositions using music software, and 2) examining the appropriate contexts for using a sampler in creative musical works. The research findings reveal that 1) Isan folk music possesses unique characteristics in terms of sound quality and performance techniques, while other musical elements can be combined with it in a technologically driven creative process. This involves connecting the concepts and methods of both traditional and diverse cultural music to create unified compositions using technology, such as recording musical notes in standard notation, exporting them as MIDI files, and then importing them into audio recording software to refine the sounds for complete songs. 2) Regarding the appropriate contexts for using a sampler in creative music, three main contexts were identified: an Isan folk music composition context, a music education context, and a commercial or music business context. In summary, the process of using a sampler for creative music works can bridge the concepts of various cultural music and integrate them with technology. Furthermore, this process can be extended to enhance interdisciplinary learning and teaching methods, making it applicable in diverse contexts.

The study's objectives were to present a way for transmission Yi folk songs into educational institutions in Liangshan and Chuxiong prefectures, China. This study is qualitative. Interviewing inheritors of Yi folk songs, for instance, as well as consulting relevant literature and materials. The field investigation method was used for data collection and research, and informants included: 8 inheritors of Yi folk songs in the two places; 6 vocal actors who are professionally engaged in singing Yi folk songs in the two places; 4 leaders of primary and secondary schools and local universities in the two places; 4 music teachers from primary schools and local colleges; and 8 students from primary and secondary schools and local colleges in the two places. According to the results of this study, Yi folk songs should be taught in elementary and secondary schools to improve art and promote national pride. Mixing Yi folk songs into teaching activities, using the new experiential method of teaching, and organizing practical activities outside of school are all effective ways to spread the culture and bring folk songs back to life. Folk song art festivals on college campuses, the formation of professional art groups, and the spread of Yi folk songs in local universities are all excellent ideas that should be encouraged. Teachers should hire Yi folk song inheritors to perform and sing for them, and more teachers should be trained to be good inheritors.

This study raises the unity of the topics of folklore, literature teaching materials, and character education. It aims to explore character education values in endangered Central Malay folklores as a means of internalizing literature teaching. This qualitative study used five informants who not only knew the folklores but also knew the local culture of the Central Malay community in depth. Data were collected through semistructured interviews and note-taking. The data were analyzed using a thematic approach. The research findings show that Central Malay folklore has aesthetic, humanist, ethical, and religious values that can be internalized in literature learning as a form of effort to save Central Malay folklore from extinction through education. This research is not new. However, there is little information about Central Malay folklore in Indonesia. The findings provide benefits and recommendations to researchers, educators, teachers, and policymakers to collaborate and conduct further studies to save Central Malay folklore from extinction and survive in society. In addition, the importance of this research is to increase understanding and foster students' appreciation of local literature while being able to take and practice the character values contained in Central Malay folklore. In northeastern Thailand, the beating heart of tradition and music intertwines seamlessly. The objective of this study was to explore the significance of percussion instruments in Isan Thai folk music within the context of music education and learning. The scope of the research site spans the northeastern Provinces of Thailand. The study employs qualitative interviews with experts and practitioners, complemented by field visits and observations. The findings emphasize that Isan Thai folk music serves as a cultural bridge, nurturing mutual understanding and expressing the extraordinary occurrences within the community. Music education emerges as a pivotal tool in safeguarding the cultural heritage of Isan Thai folk music, offering students a window into diverse cultures, and enriching their appreciation of the world's cultural tapestry. Despite challenges such as a dearth of successors and waning interest among the younger generation. The preservation of Isan percussion instruments is an invaluable component of intangible cultural heritage, thus contributing substantially to the broader discourse on cultural heritage preservation and the role of music education in fostering cross-cultural appreciation and understanding.

Kazakh and Nogai peoples have shared many similar experiences throughout history. In the theoretical dimension of this study, the common features of Kazakh and Nogai communities in the fields of language, culture and geography are analyzed in a comparative perspective. In the research dimension, the common history of Kazakh and Nogai peoples, language kinship and similarities in the formation of place names were discussed in detail, and the cultural and linguistic ties of these two communities were taught with the support of information technologies. In this context, a pre-test post-test design with control group was applied in the study. Experimental applications were applied in Kazakh Language and Literature course. Toponyms and folk geography terms in Kazakh and Nogai languages were taught with the support of information technologies in the experimental group and traditional teaching in the control group (6 weeks). Kazakh and Nogai Language Achievement Tests and Attitude towards the Course Scale were used as measurement tools in the research. Mann Whitney U test, one of the Non-Parametric statistics, was used to analyze the research data. According to the research findings, a significant difference was found in favor of the experimental group in terms of Kazakh Toponyms and Folk Geography Terms. However, no significant difference was found between the achievements of the experimental and control groups in teaching Nogai Toponyms and Folk Geography Terms. Finally, it was found that the information-supported teaching activities applied in the study positively affected the students' attitudes towards the course.

Yue Opera holds the distinction of being the second largest opera in China and is celebrated as the country's second National opera. This study aims to examine education and literacy of historical development in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, China. Through a multidisciplinary approach encompassing musicology and ethnomusicology it investigates the historical development, cultural contexts, and artistic characteristics of Chinese Yue Opera. The research methodology involves conducting interviews with key informants who have extensive experience and expertise in Chinese Yue Opera, as well as observing live performances. The collected data is analyzed and interpreted in accordance with existing literature and theoretical principles. The findings of the study trace the evolution of Chinese Yue Opera from its origins as a rap art form to an opera prototype, and its subsequent development into the "Small Song Class" and "Shaoxing Opera." The comprehensive examination of the cultural and artistic aspects of education and literacy in Chinese Yue Opera provides valuable insights into this traditional Chinese opera genre. The study sheds light on its historical significance, artistic expressions, and cultural heritage. This research enriches our understanding and deepens our appreciation of the distinctive artistry encapsulated within Chinese Yue Opera.

Chinese Yao Nationality Folk Songs are a distinctive cultural treasure thriving within the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, intimately intertwined with the lives and traditions of the Yao people. The objective of this study is to investigate the role of education and literacy in the development and transmission of Chinese Yao Nationality folk songs in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The research site, Jinxiu Yao Autonomous County, serves as a culturally significant backdrop, chosen for its accessibility and cultural relevance to the research objectives. To gain comprehensive insights into this complex topic, three key informants with specialized knowledge and cultural insights were meticulously selected. An array of research tools, including observation forms, interview forms, and questionnaires, were employed to gather data and analyze various aspects of Yao Nationality folk songs. The results reveal the multifaceted phases of development these songs have undergone, from their sacred origins to their role in communal celebrations and emotional expression. The transmission of these songs is showcased through a blend of oral traditions and written records, with a contemporary integration of media and technology. This research suggests the need for a balanced approach to preserving cultural heritage while embracing modernity.

Chinese Dongbei Dagu vocal songs, a traditional genre hailing from Northeast China's Dongbei region, possess a rich history spanning over two centuries, distinguished by their unique combination of rhythmic speech-like delivery and melodic elements. The objective of this study is to investigate the fostering of literacy through the transmission of Chinese Dongbei Dagu vocal songs in Xiuyan County, Liaoning Province. The research utilized questionnaires and interviews with six key informants as research tools, including two academic experts, three singers of Dongbei Dagu, and one musical accompanist, who played a pivotal role in providing invaluable insights into various facets of Dongbei Dagu, ranging from its historical significance to the methods employed for its traditional and modern transmission. Qualitative data analysis revealed the existence of two primary modes of transmission: the time-honored apprentice style and the familial family-style methods within traditional settings. Moreover, it uncovered contemporary transmission modes that ingeniously adapt to folk activities, tea houses, theaters, and specialized training workshops. The research findings underscore the paramount importance of cultural databases, governmental support, educational initiatives, innovation, audience expansion, and early education in the continuous preservation and promotion of Dongbei Dagu. Ultimately, this study not only enhances our comprehension of intangible cultural heritage but also offers a pragmatic blueprint for sustaining traditional art forms within the context of contemporary society.

This study focuses on the preservation and literacy transmission of the Mor Lam Khon Kaen style by the Rattanasin Intathairat Group and presents insightful findings in three knowledge-related aspects. In terms of knowledge definition, the Mor Lam Khon Kaen performance encompasses the preservation of its distinct identity, the collaborative exchange of knowledge among performers facilitated by Mrs. Chawala, the composer, and the meticulous memorization process of Klon Lam poems. Knowledge management within the performance involves the leadership of Mrs.Chawala, who guides the ensemble to ensure authentic Mor Lam Phuen style preservation over four evolving periods. This process entails systematic storage and retrieval through Klon Lam compilation, utilizing digital platforms for dissemination, and employing collaborative learning techniques. In the literacy transmission process, the Rattanasin Intathairat Group's inclusive approach welcomes disciples, emphasizes Klon Lam memorization, and adapts the timeframe to individual progress. The study's comprehensive insights shed light on the intricate interplay of preservation, literacy transfer, and community engagement within the Mor Lam tradition.

Dazu vocal music, a unique and cherished intangible cultural heritage, serves as the focal point of this research conducted in Chongqing, China. The study's objective is to investigate the contribution of cultural transmission of Dazu vocal music in Chongqing through education and literacy. The research site, Dazu City, is the epicenter of this cultural treasure, encompassing various educational institutions from primary to tertiary levels that engage with this art form. Two key informants, comprising experienced instructors and cultural representatives, offer valuable insights into the educational initiatives and literacy practices supporting Dazu vocal music. Research tools, including observation and interview forms, are employed for data collection, culminating in a detailed analysis of the cultural transmission process. The study's results underscore education's pivotal role in preserving Dazu vocal music, fostering hand-son learning, and promoting cultural documentation, with literacy facilitating accessibility beyond oral traditions. These efforts positively impact the local community by enhancing cultural identity and pride. Despite challenges such as an aging practitioner population and shifting cultural dynamics, collaboration among stakeholders emerges as a promising strategy for ensuring the tradition's continuity. In conclusion, this research highlights the importance of education and literacy in preserving intangible cultural heritage, offering insights applicable to similar endeavors worldwide.

Nestled within the captivating landscapes of Guizhou Province, China, Shan'ge folk songs, a cherished tradition of the Yi ethnic group, embody a rich cultural heritage. This study aims to investigate the contemporary status of Shan'ge folk songs in Guizhou, with a focus on Panzhou County, Lupanshui City, and the Yi community, while proposing guidelines for their transmission through education and literacy initiatives. Nine key informants, including local musicians and community members, were interviewed, and field observations were conducted. Thematic coding and comparative analysis were employed to analyze the data. The result of this study shows that the enduring cultural significance of these songs, serving as cultural beacons, rituals, and oral history repositories, remains consistent, but challenges such as urbanization, changing lifestyles, and language shift threaten their transmission. We conclude by suggesting guidelines that encompass integrating Shan'ge folk songs into school curricula, fostering community-based learning, and leveraging digital tools to ensure their continuity. In embracing these strategies, Shan'ge folk songs can bridge the gap between tradition and modernity, honoring the past while safeguarding their future.

Traditional Chinese fiddle instruments have a long history, with their origins dating back over a thousand years. They are an integral part of Chinese culture and have evolved over time, incorporating various regional styles and techniques. The objective is to examine the historical perspective on literacy and learning resources of traditional Chinese fiddle musical instruments in Jiangxi Province, with a primary focus on Jiujiang City. The study employs a multidisciplinary approach, drawing from ethnomusicology, organology, and musical acoustics, to unravel the intricate cultural, social, and historical context of fiddle music. Key informants, including master craftsmen and experts in fiddle production, provide valuable insights into the region's musical heritage. The research also explores the emergence of the Zhonghu, a plucked stringed instrument, and its role in Chinese folk music. The study's findings reveal the rich cultural landscape of Jiujiang City, characterized by the fusion of fiddle music with silk and bamboo music, private music clubs, religious ceremonies, and Taoist traditions. In conclusion, this research contributes to the preservation and enrichment of Jiangxi's cultural heritage and offers insights into the continued development of traditional Chinese fiddle music education and cultural preservation.

Chuanjiang Haozi, a distinctive form of folk music originating from the Yangtze River Basin in Chongqing, China, serves as a unique cultural treasure, blending utility with artistic expression. This study aims to investigate the preservation and promotion of literacy through performing arts education in Chuanjiang Haozi in Chongqing Province, China. Through a comprehensive research approach, including interviews with key informants who are inheritors of this art form, this study delves into the preservation and promotion strategies for Chuanjiang Haozi. The research site encompasses the Chuanjiang River system, spanning Chongqing and Sichuan, where this art form has deep historical roots. The two key informants were interviewed to gather essential information for this study, including prominent inheritors of Chuanjiang Haozi, providing valuable insights into its cultural significance and preservation challenges. The data analysis process involves transcription, coding, categorization, and theme identification, enabling a comprehensive understanding of the research topic. The research results advocate for a multifaceted approach, including the establishment of digital museums, festival tourism, legal support, and funding for inheritors, to ensure the continued preservation and promotion of Chuanjiang Haozi. These strategies aim to integrate tradition with modernity, safeguarding this intangible cultural heritage for future generations.

This research seeks to study (i) the local wisdom about the textile weaving production at Lan Khoi village and (ii) the pattern of integrating learning concepts and transferring knowledge in weaving at Lan Khoi village. Data from documents and fieldwork were analyzed and presented through descriptive analysis. The results indicated that the local knowledge about textile weaving at Lan Khoi village reveals that it encompasses a body of knowledge, capabilities, experiences, and traditions. The textiles and patterns found are predominantly hand-woven cotton with distinct patterns. Notably, there exists a design pattern rooted in tradition that has been handed down through generations. As the research revolved around teaching and learning, twenty participants were engaged in the weaving process to acquire weaving skills. The results also showed that the model for learning concepts to transfer knowledge about textile weaving in Lan Khoi village employs three key concepts: (1) crafting and utilizing a diverse range of products that cater to consumers' needs and preferences, ensuring suitability for use, (2) enhancing value through product development by drawing on ideas and local knowledge to assist in weaving and pattern design during the product creation phase, and (3) facilitating product entry into the commercial market by establishing business networks, including collaboration with fellow entrepreneurs and leveraging online media for advertising. In summary, knowledge transfer serves as a means of preserving cultural wisdom, while learning the creative economy concept entails designing products that fulfill consumer needs, thereby adding value to the products and generating increased income for the community.

This research investigates the literacy transmission of Guqin culture at the Wangji School in Henan Province, China, through the lenses of ethnomusicology and transmission theory. The goal is to gain an understanding of the educational opportunities provided by this institution and its function in preserving and advancing this ancient Chinese musical tradition. Located in Henan, a province known as the "Cradle of Chinese Civilization," the Wangji School serves as a vital hub for Guqin education, performance, and transmission. Key informants provide perspectives on the diverse backgrounds and pedagogical approaches of Guqin instructors at the school. Using thematic analysis to look at observations and interviews as data shows that there is a focus on copying, expressing oneself, and combining lifestyle elements. The research highlights the school's commitment to cultural preservation, fostering an inclusive learning environment, and employing online outreach. In conclusion, the Wangji School emerges as a beacon of Guqin culture, bridging tradition and innovation to ensure the continuity and vitality of this cherished musical tradition, offering valuable lessons for the preservation of cultural heritage in contemporary educational settings.

Chinese music has played a significant role in the lives of the Chinese people for generations, being passed down from one generation to the next. Particularly, Changchao Lu's Guqin teaching holds valuable academic insights. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the transmission of Guqin knowledge and literacy by Changchao Lu. The researchers used qualitative approaches, specifically interviews and observations. The study's findings illustrate that Changchao Lu's Guqin playing style exhibits attributes of tranquility, minimalism, strength, and adaptability. The instructor's pedagogical approach integrates conventional and progressive elements, placing significant emphasis on a comprehensive and balanced educational experience. He established the College of Chinese Arts, which aimed to amalgamate conventional and contemporary Guqin education. The institution prioritized several aspects, such as theoretical knowledge, performing skills, pedagogy, and even the craft of instrument-making. The use of online technologies, the promotion of collaborative learning, and the implementation of a student-centered approach all improve the educational experience. Changchao Lu's activities encompass the integration of Guqin, a traditional Chinese musical instrument, into rural schools, the promotion of cultural understanding, and the active engagement of local education officials. In addition, he engages in collaborative efforts with local governmental bodies to rejuvenate rural culture by means of Guqin, therefore nurturing artistic potential and establishing connections between Guqin art and local industry.

The Salar vocal folk music is a unique intangible cultural heritage of the Salar ethnic minority in Qinghai Province, China. The objective of this interdisciplinary study is to investigate the role of education and literacy in the preservation and transmission of Salar vocal folk music in Qinghai Province, China. The research site, Xunhua Salar Autonomous County, serves as a cultural epicenter where Salar traditions have thrived for centuries, providing an authentic setting for immersive fieldwork. Key informants include Salar musicians, educators, community leaders, and government officials who play vital roles in the preservation and transmission of this heritage. Data was collected through participant observation, interviews, and documentation of Salar vocal folk music performances. Musicological analysis and preservation and transmission theory were applied to the data, revealing the historical roots, cultural significance, and current challenges faced by Salar vocal folk music. The study culminates in guidelines for the preservation and transmission of this tradition, emphasizing government support, modernization, education, innovation, diverse communication, and legal safeguards.

Chinese Sani folk songs, originating from the vibrant culture of the Sani people in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, represent a precious tapestry of musical heritage. This research aims to examine the preservation and promotion of cultural literacy through the education of Chinese Sani folk songs in Kunming City, Yunnan Province. Esteemed Sani scholars, composers, and song transmitters serve as key informants, providing valuable insights into the multifaceted process of preserving and promoting this cultural treasure. A mixed-methods approach is employed. Combining qualitative interviews and quantitative questionnaires, this research offers a comprehensive perspective on Sani folk song preservation. The results highlight the importance of education, legislative support, cultural promotion, and collaboration with universities in preserving Sani folk songs. Suggestions include the establishment of folk song learning workshops, youth education programs, the preservation of traditional living environments, and the creation of a Sani folk song database. Overall, this research underscores the urgency of safeguarding this unique cultural heritage and contributes to the global discourse on preserving endangered folk music traditions.

This comprehensive study focuses on the preservation of Shiping Folk Songs in Weiyuan County, China, with an emphasis on education, literacy, and the critical role of diverse stakeholders. The study emphasizes the region's cultural relevance as well as educational programs, highlighting the critical role of schools in promoting cultural literacy and ensuring the preservation of Shiping Folk Songs. In addition, the research investigates the roles of Hakka folk musicians and singers in the transmission and development of this national folk music tradition. Government policy and assistance have been recognized as critical components for managing budgetary restrictions and executing preservation and development programs. The participation of local higher education institutions and cultural research units in the preservation of Shiping folk music is also carefully investigated, highlighting their critical significance in furthering cultural heritage. This multimodal approach emphasizes the interplay of education, literacy, and preservation in maintaining the vibrancy of Shiping Folk Songs, providing significant insights into the long-term preservation of this cultural asset.
