The detection of moving infrared dim-small targets has been a challenging and prevalent research topic. The current state-of-the-art methods are mainly based on ConvLSTM to aggregate information from adjacent frames to facilitate the detection of the current frame. However, these methods implicitly utilize motion information only in the training stage and fail to explicitly explore motion compensation, resulting in poor performance in the case of a video sequence including large motion. In this paper, we propose a Deformable Feature Alignment and Refinement (DFAR) method based on deformable convolution to explicitly use motion context in both the training and inference stages. Specifically, a Temporal Deformable Alignment (TDA) module based on the designed Dilated Convolution Attention Fusion (DCAF) block is developed to explicitly align the adjacent frames with the current frame at the feature level. Then, the feature refinement module adaptively fuses the aligned features and further aggregates useful spatio-temporal information by means of the proposed Attention-guided Deformable Fusion (AGDF) block. In addition, to improve the alignment of adjacent frames with the current frame, we extend the traditional loss function by introducing a new motion compensation loss. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed DFAR method achieves the state-of-the-art performance on two benchmark datasets including DAUB and IRDST.

Few-shot Semantic Segmentation (FSS) aims to adapt a pretrained model to new classes with as few as a single labelled training sample per class. Despite the prototype based approaches have achieved substantial success, existing models are limited to the imaging scenarios with considerably distinct objects and not highly complex background, e.g., natural images. This makes such models suboptimal for medical imaging with both conditions invalid. To address this problem, we propose a novel Detail Self-refined Prototype Network (DSPNet) to constructing high-fidelity prototypes representing the object foreground and the background more comprehensively. Specifically, to construct global semantics while maintaining the captured detail semantics, we learn the foreground prototypes by modelling the multi-modal structures with clustering and then fusing each in a channel-wise manner. Considering that the background often has no apparent semantic relation in the spatial dimensions, we integrate channel-specific structural information under sparse channel-aware regulation. Extensive experiments on three challenging medical image benchmarks show the superiority of DSPNet over previous state-of-the-art methods.

Moving infrared small target detection presents significant challenges due to tiny target sizes and low contrast against backgrounds. Currently-existing methods primarily focus on extracting target features only from the spatial-temporal domain. For further enhancing feature representation, more information domains such as frequency are believed to be potentially valuable. To extend target feature learning, we propose a new Triple-domain Strategy (Tridos) with the frequency-aware memory enhancement on the spatial-temporal domain. In our scheme, it effectively detaches and enhances frequency features by a local-global frequency-aware module with Fourier transform. Inspired by the human visual system, our memory enhancement aims to capture the target spatial relations between video frames. Furthermore, it encodes temporal dynamics motion features via differential learning and residual enhancing. Additionally, we further design a residual compensation unit to reconcile possible cross-domain feature mismatches. To our best knowledge, our Tridos is the first work to explore target feature learning comprehensively in spatial-temporal-frequency domains. The extensive experiments on three datasets (DAUB, ITSDT-15K, and IRDST) validate that our triple-domain learning scheme could be obviously superior to state-of-the-art ones. Obstructed atomic insulator is recently proposed as an unconventional material, in which electric charge centers localized at sites away from the atoms. A half-filling surface state would emerge at specific interfaces cutting through these charge centers and avoid intersecting any atoms. In this article, we utilized angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations to study one of the obstructed atomic insulator candidates, NiP$_2$. A floating surface state with large effective mass that is isolated from all bulk states is resolved on the (100) cleavage plane, distinct from previously reported surface states in obstructed atomic insulators that are merged into bulk bands. Density functional theory calculation results elucidate that this floating surface state is originated from the obstructed Wannier charge centers, albeit underwent surface reconstruction that splits the half-filled obstructed surface state. Source-free Domain Adaptation (SFDA) aims to adapt a pre-trained source model to an unlabeled target domain with no access to the source data. Inspired by the success of pre-trained large vision-language (ViL) models in many other applications, the latest SFDA methods have also validated the benefit of ViL models by leveraging their predictions as pseudo supervision. However, we observe that ViL's predictions could be noisy and inaccurate at an unknown rate, potentially introducing additional negative effects during adaption. To address this thus-far ignored challenge, in this paper, we introduce a novel Proxy Denoising (ProDe) approach. Specifically, we leverage the ViL model as a proxy to facilitate the adaptation process towards the latent domain-invariant space. Critically, we design a proxy denoising mechanism for correcting ViL's predictions. This is grounded on a novel proxy confidence theory by modeling elegantly the domain adaption effect of the proxy's divergence against the domain-invariant space. To capitalize the corrected proxy, we further derive a mutual knowledge distilling regularization. Extensive experiments show that our ProDe significantly outperforms the current state-of-the-art alternatives under both conventional closed-set setting and the more challenging open-set, partial-set and generalized SFDA settings. Recently, unconventional antiferromagnets that enable the splitting of electronic spins have been theoretically proposed and experimentally realized, where the magnetic sublattices containing moments pointing at different directions are connected by a novel set of symmetries. Such spin splitting (SS) is substantial, $k$-dependent, and independent of the spin-orbit coupling strength, making these magnets promising materials for antiferromagnetic spintronics. Here, combined with angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, we perform a systematic study on CrSb, a metallic spin-split antiferromagnet candidate with $T_N$ = 703 K. Our data reveals the electronic structure of CrSb along both out-of-plane and in-plane momentum directions, which renders anisotropic $k$-dependent SS and agrees well with the calculational results. The magnitude of such SS reaches up to at least 0.8 eV at non-high-symmetry momentum points, which is significantly higher than the largest known SOC-induced SS. This compound expands the choice of materials in the field of antiferromagnetic spintronics and is likely to stimulate subsequent investigations of high-efficiency spintronic devices that are functional at room temperature., Comment: 14 pages, 4 figures

Recently, a new kind of collinear magnetism, dubbed altermagnetism, has attracted considerable interests. A key characteristic of altermagnet is the momentum-dependent band and spin splitting without net magnetization. However, finding altermagnetic materials with large splitting near the Fermi level, which necessarily requires three-dimensional k-space mapping and is crucial for spintronic applications and emergent phenomena, remains challenging. Here by employing synchrotron-based angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and model calculations, we uncover a large altermagnetic splitting, up to ~1.0 eV, near the Fermi level in CrSb. We verify its bulk-type g-wave altermagnetism through systematic three-dimensional kspace mapping, which unambiguously reveals the altermagnetic symmetry and associated nodal planes. The ARPES results are well captured by density functional theory calculations. In addition, tight-binding model analysis indicate that the large altermagnetic splitting arises from strong third-nearest-neighbor hopping mediated by Sb ions, which breaks both the space-time reversal symmetry and the translational spin-rotation symmetry. The large band/spin splitting near Fermi level in metallic CrSb, together with its high TN (up to 705 K) and simple spin configuration, paves the way for exploring emergent phenomena and spintronic applications based on altermagnets., Comment: 16 pages, 4 figures and 1 table

This paper introduces a novel dynamical model, building upon the existing dynamical model for Deimos in the current numerical ephemerides, which only encompasses the simple libration effects of Deimos. The study comprehensively incorporates the rotational dynamics of Deimos influenced by the torque exerted by the major celestial bodies (Mars, the Sun) in the solar system within the inertial space. Consequently, a full dynamical model is formulated to account for the complete coupling between the rotation and orbit of Deimos. Simultaneously, employing precision orbit determination methods used for artificial satellites, we develop an adjustment model for fitting data to the complete model. The 12-order Adams--Bashforth--Moulton (ABM) integration algorithm is employed to synchronously integrate the 12 state variables of the full model to obtain the orbit of Deimos. Numerical simulation results indicate that the full dynamical model and adjustment model are stable and reliable. Compared to the simple model, the polar axis of Deimos in the inertial space exhibits a more complex oscillation in the full model. This work further advances the current dynamical model for Deimos and establishes the foundational model for the generation of a new set of precise numerical ephemerides for Deimos.

In this study, we investigate the electronic structure of a spin-triplet superconductor candidate CeRh$_2$As$_2$ using high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations. Notably, Fermi surface nesting hints at connections to magnetic excitation or quadrupole density wave phenomena, elucidating the superconducting mechanisms. Measured band structures reveal primarily localized 4f electrons, with minor itinerant contributions. Additionally, a transition from localized to itinerant behavior and significant c-f hybridization anisotropy underscore the role of f-electrons in shaping electronic properties. These findings deepen our understanding of CeRh$_2$As$_2$'s unconventional superconductivity and magnetism. In the pursuit of transferring a source model to a target domain without access to the source training data, Source-Free Domain Adaptation (SFDA) has been extensively explored across various scenarios, including closed-set, open-set, partial-set, and generalized settings. Existing methods, focusing on specific scenarios, not only address only a subset of challenges but also necessitate prior knowledge of the target domain, significantly limiting their practical utility and deployability. In light of these considerations, we introduce a more practical yet challenging problem, termed unified SFDA, which comprehensively incorporates all specific scenarios in a unified manner. To tackle this unified SFDA problem, we propose a novel approach called Latent Causal Factors Discovery (LCFD). In contrast to previous alternatives that emphasize learning the statistical description of reality, we formulate LCFD from a causality perspective. The objective is to uncover the causal relationships between latent variables and model decisions, enhancing the reliability and robustness of the learned model against domain shifts. To integrate extensive world knowledge, we leverage a pre-trained vision-language model such as CLIP. This aids in the formation and discovery of latent causal factors in the absence of supervision in the variation of distribution and semantics, coupled with a newly designed information bottleneck with theoretical guarantees. Extensive experiments demonstrate that LCFD can achieve new state-of-the-art results in distinct SFDA settings, as well as source-free out-of-distribution generalization.Our code and data are available at https://github.com/tntek/source-free-domain-adaptation.

The charge density wave (CDW), as a hallmark of vanadium-based kagome superconductor AV3Sb5 (A = K, Rb, Cs), has attracted intensive attention. However, the fundamental controversy regarding the underlying mechanism of CDW therein persists. Recently, the vanadium-based bi-layered kagome metal ScV6Sn6, reported to exhibit a long-range charge order below 94 K, has emerged as a promising candidate to further clarify this core issue. Here, employing micro-focusing angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy ({\mu}-ARPES) and first-principles calculations, we systematically studied the unique CDW order in vanadium-based bi-layered kagome metals by comparing ScV6Sn6 with its isostructural counterpart YV6Sn6, which lacks a CDW ground state. Combining ARPES data and the corresponding joint density of states (DOS), we suggest that the VHS nesting mechanism might be invalid in these materials. Besides, in ScV6Sn6, we identified multiple hybridization energy gaps resulting from CDW-induced band folding, along with an anomalous band dispersion, implying a potential electron-phonon coupling driven mechanism underlying the formation of the CDW order. Ferroelectric fluorite dioxides like hafnium (HfO2)-based materials are considered to be one of the most potential candidates for nowadays large-scale integrated-circuits (ICs). While zirconia (ZrO2)-based fluorites materials, which has the same structure as HfO2 and more abundant resources and lower cost of raw materials, is usually thought to be anti- or ferroelectric-like. Here we reported a giant ferroelectric remnant polarization (Pr) amounted to 53 {\mu}C/cm2 in orthorhombic ZrO2 thin film at room temperature. This ferroelectricity arises from an electric field induced anti-ferroelectric to ferroelectric phase transition which is particularly noticeable at 77 K. Our work reveals the intrinsic ferroelectricity in ZrO2 thin films and offers a new pathway to understand the ferroelectricity origin in fluorite oxides.

Source-Free Domain Adaptation (SFDA) aims to adapt a source model for a target domain, with only access to unlabeled target training data and the source model pre-trained on a supervised source domain. Relying on pseudo labeling and/or auxiliary supervision, conventional methods are inevitably error-prone. To mitigate this limitation, in this work we for the first time explore the potentials of off-the-shelf vision-language (ViL) multimodal models (e.g.,CLIP) with rich whilst heterogeneous knowledge. We find that directly applying the ViL model to the target domain in a zero-shot fashion is unsatisfactory, as it is not specialized for this particular task but largely generic. To make it task specific, we propose a novel Distilling multimodal Foundation model(DIFO)approach. Specifically, DIFO alternates between two steps during adaptation: (i) Customizing the ViL model by maximizing the mutual information with the target model in a prompt learning manner, (ii) Distilling the knowledge of this customized ViL model to the target model. For more fine-grained and reliable distillation, we further introduce two effective regularization terms, namely most-likely category encouragement and predictive consistency. Exploring new unconventional superconductors is of great value for both fundamental research and practical applications. It is a long-term challenge to develop and study more hole-doped superconductors in 1111 system of iron-based superconductors. However, fifteen years after the discovery of iron-based superconductors, it has become increasingly difficult to discover new members in this system by conventional means. Here we report the discovery of superconductivity with the critical transition temperature up to 30.7 K in the parent compound CaFeAsF by an annealing treatment in air atmosphere. The superconducting behaviors are verified in both the single-crystalline and polycrystalline samples by the resistance and magnetization measurements. The analysis by combining the depth-resolved time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements show that the introduction of oxygen elements and the consequent changing in Fe valence by the annealing treatment may lead to the hole-type doping, which is the origin for the occurrence of superconductivity. Learned video compression (LVC) has witnessed remarkable advancements in recent years. Similar as the traditional video coding, LVC inherits motion estimation/compensation, residual coding and other modules, all of which are implemented with neural networks (NNs). However, within the framework of NNs and its training mechanism using gradient backpropagation, most existing works often struggle to consistently generate stable motion information, which is in the form of geometric features, from the input color features. Moreover, the modules such as the inter-prediction and residual coding are independent from each other, making it inefficient to fully reduce the spatial-temporal redundancy. To address the above problems, in this paper, we propose a novel Spatial-Temporal Transformer based Video Compression (STT-VC) framework. It contains a Relaxed Deformable Transformer (RDT) with Uformer based offsets estimation for motion estimation and compensation, a Multi-Granularity Prediction (MGP) module based on multi-reference frames for prediction refinement, and a Spatial Feature Distribution prior based Transformer (SFD-T) for efficient temporal-spatial joint residual compression. Specifically, RDT is developed to stably estimate the motion information between frames by thoroughly investigating the relationship between the similarity based geometric motion feature extraction and self-attention. MGP is designed to fuse the multi-reference frame information by effectively exploring the coarse-grained prediction feature generated with the coded motion information. SFD-T is to compress the residual information by jointly exploring the spatial feature distributions in both residual and temporal prediction to further reduce the spatial-temporal redundancy. Experimental results demonstrate that our method achieves the best result with 13.5% BD-Rate saving over VTM.

Spin- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (SARPES) with high efficiency and resolution plays a crucial role in exploring the fine spin-resolved band structures of quantum materials. Here we report the performance of SARPES instrument with a second-generation home-made multichannel very-low-energy-electron-diffraction (VLEED) spin polarimeter. Its energy and angular resolutions achieve 7.2 meV and 0.52{\deg}. We present the results of SARPES measurements of Bi(111) film to demonstrate its performance. Combined with the density functional theory (DFT) calculations, the spin polarization of the bulk states was confirmed from the spin-layer locking caused by the local inversion asymmetry. The surface states at binding energy of 0.77 eV are found with 1.0 {\pm} 0.11 spin polarization. The better resolutions and stability compared with the first-generation one provide a good platform to investigate the spin-polarized electronic states in materials., Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures

To solve the problem of poor performance of deep neural network models due to insufficient data, a simple yet effective interpolation-based data augmentation method is proposed: MSMix (Manifold Swap Mixup). This method feeds two different samples to the same deep neural network model, and then randomly select a specific layer and partially replace hidden features at that layer of one of the samples by the counterpart of the other. The mixed hidden features are fed to the model and go through the rest of the network. Two different selection strategies are also proposed to obtain richer hidden representation. Experiments are conducted on three Chinese intention recognition datasets, and the results show that the MSMix method achieves better results than other methods in both full-sample and small-sample configurations.

The century-long development of surface sciences has witnessed the discoveries of a variety of quantum states. In the recently proposed "obstructed atomic insulators", insulators with symmetric charges pinned at virtual sites where no real atoms reside, the cleavage through these sites could lead to a set of obstructed surface states with partial occupation. Here, utilizing scanning tunneling microscopy, angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and first-principles calculations, we observe spectroscopic signature of obstructed surface states in SrIn$_2$P$_2$. We find a pair of surface states originated from the pristine obstructed surface states split by a unique surface reconstruction. The upper branch is marked with a striking differential conductance peak followed by negative differential conductance, signaling its localized nature, while the lower branch is found to be highly dispersive. This pair of surface states is in consistency with our calculational results. Balancing efficiency and accuracy is a long-standing problem for deploying deep learning models. The trade-off is even more important for real-time safety-critical systems like autonomous vehicles. In this paper, we propose an effective approach for accelerating transformer-based 3D object detectors by dynamically halting tokens at different layers depending on their contribution to the detection task. Although halting a token is a non-differentiable operation, our method allows for differentiable end-to-end learning by leveraging an equivalent differentiable forward-pass. Furthermore, our framework allows halted tokens to be reused to inform the model's predictions through a straightforward token recycling mechanism. Our method significantly improves the Pareto frontier of efficiency versus accuracy when compared with the existing approaches. By halting tokens and increasing model capacity, we are able to improve the baseline model's performance without increasing the model's latency on the Waymo Open Dataset.

Spatial, momentum and energy separation of electronic spins in condensed matter systems guides the development of novel devices where spin-polarized current is generated and manipulated. Recent attention on a set of previously overlooked symmetry operations in magnetic materials leads to the emergence of a new type of spin splitting, enabling giant and momentum-dependent spin polarization of energy bands on selected antiferromagnets. Despite the ever-growing theoretical predictions, the direct spectroscopic proof of such spin splitting is still lacking. Here, we provide solid spectroscopic and computational evidence for the existence of such materials. In the noncoplanar antiferromagnet MnTe$_2$, the in-plane components of spin are found to be antisymmetric about the high-symmetry planes of the Brillouin zone, comprising a plaid-like spin texture in the antiferromagnetic (AFM) ground state. Such an unconventional spin pattern, further found to diminish at the high-temperature paramagnetic state, stems from the intrinsic AFM order instead of spin-orbit coupling (SOC). Lithosphere is an outer rigid part of the terrestrial body, usually consisting of the crust and part of the mantle. Characterizing the physical properties of the lithosphere is critical in investigating its evolution. By modeling mass-related loads within the lithosphere, physical parameters such as the elastic thickness of the lithosphere can be inferred from gravity and topography data. In the impact basin region, however, the low topography-gravity correlation and the sharp change in admittance from negative to positive within a narrow spheric harmonic degree make this model inapplicable. In this work, we incorporated mantle uplift structures commonly formed in impact basin regions into the lithospheric loading model. The crustal-mantle boundary of this mantle uplift structure is inferred from the global crustal thickness model. The gravity anomaly of the deflected lithosphere is calculated at the surface and crustal-mantle boundary, then the theoretical gravity admittance and correlation can be compared with the observed data. We sampled parameters using this mantle loading model at Argyre and Isidis basin on Mars with a novel crustal thickness model from the InSight mission. Our work suggests that proper modelling of the impact-induced load is critical to understanding the physical properties of the planetary lithosphere in the basin region.

In this paper, we consider the problem of bit allocation in Neural Video Compression (NVC). First, we reveal a fundamental relationship between bit allocation in NVC and Semi-Amortized Variational Inference (SAVI). Specifically, we show that SAVI with GoP (Group-of-Picture)-level likelihood is equivalent to pixel-level bit allocation with precise rate \& quality dependency model. Based on this equivalence, we establish a new paradigm of bit allocation using SAVI. Different from previous bit allocation methods, our approach requires no empirical model and is thus optimal. Moreover, as the original SAVI using gradient ascent only applies to single-level latent, we extend the SAVI to multi-level such as NVC by recursively applying back-propagating through gradient ascent. Finally, we propose a tractable approximation for practical implementation. Our method can be applied to scenarios where performance outweights encoding speed, and serves as an empirical bound on the R-D performance of bit allocation. Experimental results show that current state-of-the-art bit allocation algorithms still have a room of $\approx 0.5$ dB PSNR to improve compared with ours. Bilevel optimization (BO) is useful for solving a variety of important machine learning problems including but not limited to hyperparameter optimization, meta-learning, continual learning, and reinforcement learning. Conventional BO methods need to differentiate through the low-level optimization process with implicit differentiation, which requires expensive calculations related to the Hessian matrix. There has been a recent quest for first-order methods for BO, but the methods proposed to date tend to be complicated and impractical for large-scale deep learning applications. In this work, we propose a simple first-order BO algorithm that depends only on first-order gradient information, requires no implicit differentiation, and is practical and efficient for large-scale non-convex functions in deep learning. We provide non-asymptotic convergence analysis of the proposed method to stationary points for non-convex objectives and present empirical results that show its superior practical performance.

We propose a family of First Hitting Diffusion Models (FHDM), deep generative models that generate data with a diffusion process that terminates at a random first hitting time. This yields an extension of the standard fixed-time diffusion models that terminate at a pre-specified deterministic time. Although standard diffusion models are designed for continuous unconstrained data, FHDM is naturally designed to learn distributions on continuous as well as a range of discrete and structure domains. Moreover, FHDM enables instance-dependent terminate time and accelerates the diffusion process to sample higher quality data with fewer diffusion steps. Technically, we train FHDM by maximum likelihood estimation on diffusion trajectories augmented from observed data with conditional first hitting processes (i.e., bridge) derived based on Doob's $h$-transform, deviating from the commonly used time-reversal mechanism. We apply FHDM to generate data in various domains such as point cloud (general continuous distribution), climate and geographical events on earth (continuous distribution on the sphere), unweighted graphs (distribution of binary matrices), and segmentation maps of 2D images (high-dimensional categorical distribution). We observe considerable improvement compared with the state-of-the-art approaches in both quality and speed.

One of the key challenges of learning an online recommendation model is the temporal domain shift, which causes the mismatch between the training and testing data distribution and hence domain generalization error. To overcome, we propose to learn a meta future gradient generator that forecasts the gradient information of the future data distribution for training so that the recommendation model can be trained as if we were able to look ahead at the future of its deployment. Compared with Batch Update, a widely used paradigm, our theory suggests that the proposed algorithm achieves smaller temporal domain generalization error measured by a gradient variation term in a local regret. We demonstrate the empirical advantage by comparing with various representative baselines.

AI-based molecule generation provides a promising approach to a large area of biomedical sciences and engineering, such as antibody design, hydrolase engineering, or vaccine development. Because the molecules are governed by physical laws, a key challenge is to incorporate prior information into the training procedure to generate high-quality and realistic molecules. We propose a simple and novel approach to steer the training of diffusion-based generative models with physical and statistics prior information. This is achieved by constructing physically informed diffusion bridges, stochastic processes that guarantee to yield a given observation at the fixed terminal time. We develop a Lyapunov function based method to construct and determine bridges, and propose a number of proposals of informative prior bridges for both high-quality molecule generation and uniformity-promoted 3D point cloud generation. With comprehensive experiments, we show that our method provides a powerful approach to the 3D generation task, yielding molecule structures with better quality and stability scores and more uniformly distributed point clouds of high qualities.

Diffusion-based generative models have achieved promising results recently, but raise an array of open questions in terms of conceptual understanding, theoretical analysis, algorithm improvement and extensions to discrete, structured, non-Euclidean domains. This work tries to re-exam the overall framework, in order to gain better theoretical understandings and develop algorithmic extensions for data from arbitrary domains. By viewing diffusion models as latent variable models with unobserved diffusion trajectories and applying maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) with latent trajectories imputed from an auxiliary distribution, we show that both the model construction and the imputation of latent trajectories amount to constructing diffusion bridge processes that achieve deterministic values and constraints at end point, for which we provide a systematic study and a suit of tools. Leveraging our framework, we present 1) a first theoretical error analysis for learning diffusion generation models, and 2) a simple and unified approach to learning on data from different discrete and constrained domains. Experiments show that our methods perform superbly on generating images, semantic segments and 3D point clouds.

Vehicle Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) act as the core of vehicular communications and provide the fundamental wireless communication architecture to support both vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication. Therefore, by leveraging only communication technologies, Connected Vehicles (CVs) can navigate through the dynamic road network. However, such vehicles are still in their infancy but are expected to have a significant impact on safety and mobility such as reducing non-recurrent congestion in case of a vehicle breakdown or other roadway incidents. To evaluate their impacts, this research examines the benefits of having CVs when a vehicle breakdown occurs by developing an intelligent proactive re-routing algorithm. Due to a lack of real-world data, this paper adopts an integrated simulated framework consisting of a V2X (OMNET++) communication simulator and a traffic microscopic simulator (SUMO). The developed algorithm functions such that when a vehicle is broken down within a live traffic lane, the system detects the breakdown, generates warning messages immediately and transmits them to approaching vehicles. Based on the real-time notification, informed vehicles proactively re-route to alternative roads to avoid the breakdown zone. Two scenarios were developed where a breakdown occurs within and outside a junction for both V2X-enabled and disabled systems. Results show that V2X-enabled CV re-routing mechanism can improve traffic efficiency by reducing congestion and enhance traffic safety by smoothing accelerations and decelerations of affected vehicles with low infrastructure costs. This paper reviews the Challenge on Super-Resolution of Compressed Image and Video at AIM 2022. This challenge includes two tracks. Track 1 aims at the super-resolution of compressed image, and Track~2 targets the super-resolution of compressed video. In Track 1, we use the popular dataset DIV2K as the training, validation and test sets. In Track 2, we propose the LDV 3.0 dataset, which contains 365 videos, including the LDV 2.0 dataset (335 videos) and 30 additional videos. In this challenge, there are 12 teams and 2 teams that submitted the final results to Track 1 and Track 2, respectively. The proposed methods and solutions gauge the state-of-the-art of super-resolution on compressed image and video. We report successful growth of millimeter-sized high quality single crystals of V$_3$S$_4$, a candidate topological semimetal belonging to a low-symmetry space group and consisting of only low atomic number elements. Using density functional theory calculations and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, we show that the nonmagnetic phase of monoclinic V$_3$S$_4$ hosts type-II Dirac-like quasiparticles which opens a sizable gap due to spin orbit coupling, as well as theoretical multiple nodal lines that are eliminated also by spin orbit coupling. These results suggest that relativistic effects give rise to profound modifications of the topological properties even in compounds with low-weight elements., Comment: 19 Pages, 3 Figures. A Dirac nodal-line phase, as a quantum state of topological materials, usually occur in three-dimensional or at least two-dimensional materials with sufficient symmetry operations that could protect the Dirac band crossings. Here, we report a combined theoretical and experimental study on the electronic structure of the quasi-one-dimensional ternary telluride TaPtTe$_5$, which is corroborated as being in a robust nodal-line phase with fourfold degeneracy. Our angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy measurements show that two pairs of linearly dispersive Dirac-like bands exist in a very large energy window, which extend from a binding energy of $\sim$ 0.75 eV to across the Fermi level. The crossing points are at the boundary of Brillouin zone and form Dirac-like nodal lines. Using first-principles calculations, we demonstrate the existing of nodal surfaces on the $k_y = \pm \pi$ plane in the absence of spin-orbit coupling (SOC), which are protected by nonsymmorphic symmetry in TaPtTe$_5$. When SOC is included, the nodal surfaces are broken into several nodal lines. By theoretical analysis, we conclude that the nodal lines along $Y$-$T$ and the ones connecting the $R$ points are non-trivial and protected by nonsymmorphic symmetry against SOC., Comment: 17 pages, 5 figures, accepted for publication as a Regular Article in Physical Review B

While multi-class 3D detectors are needed in many robotics applications, training them with fully labeled datasets can be expensive in labeling cost. An alternative approach is to have targeted single-class labels on disjoint data samples. In this paper, we are interested in training a multi-class 3D object detection model, while using these single-class labeled data. We begin by detailing the unique stance of our "Single-Class Supervision" (SCS) setting with respect to related concepts such as partial supervision and semi supervision. Then, based on the case study of training the multi-class version of Range Sparse Net (RSN), we adapt a spectrum of algorithms -- from supervised learning to pseudo-labeling -- to fully exploit the properties of our SCS setting, and perform extensive ablation studies to identify the most effective algorithm and practice. Empirical experiments on the Waymo Open Dataset show that proper training under SCS can approach or match full supervision training while saving labeling costs., Comment: ICRA 2022

This paper reviews the NTIRE 2022 Challenge on Super-Resolution and Quality Enhancement of Compressed Video. In this challenge, we proposed the LDV 2.0 dataset, which includes the LDV dataset (240 videos) and 95 additional videos. This challenge includes three tracks. Track 1 aims at enhancing the videos compressed by HEVC at a fixed QP. Track 2 and Track 3 target both the super-resolution and quality enhancement of HEVC compressed video. They require x2 and x4 super-resolution, respectively. The three tracks totally attract more than 600 registrations. In the test phase, 8 teams, 8 teams and 12 teams submitted the final results to Tracks 1, 2 and 3, respectively. The proposed methods and solutions gauge the state-of-the-art of super-resolution and quality enhancement of compressed video. Lorentz-violating type-II Dirac nodal line semimetals (DNLSs), hosting curves of band degeneracy formed by two dispersion branches with the same sign of slope, represent a novel states of matter. While being studied extensively in theory, convincing experimental evidences of type-II DNLSs remain elusive. Recently, Vanadium-based kagome materials have emerged as a fertile ground to study the interplay between lattice symmetry and band topology. In this work, we study the low-energy band structure of double-kagome-layered CsV$_8$Sb$_{12}$ and identify it as a scarce type-II DNLS protected by mirror symmetry. We have observed multiple DNLs consisting of type-II Dirac cones close to or almost at the Fermi level via angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). First-principle analyses show that spin-orbit coupling only opens a small gap, resulting effectively gapless ARPES spectra, yet generating large spin Berry curvature. These type-II DNLs, together with the interaction between a low-energy van Hove singularity and quasi-1D band as we observed in the same material, suggest CsV$_8$Sb$_{12}$ as an ideal platform for exploring novel transport properties such as chiral anomaly, the Klein tunneling and fractional quantum Hall effect., Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures

The intertwining of charge order, superconductivity and band topology has promoted the AV$_3$Sb$_5$ (A=K, Rb, Cs) family of materials to the center of attention in condensed matter physics. Underlying those mysterious macroscopic properties such as giant anomalous Hall conductivity (AHC) and chiral charge density wave is their nontrivial band topology. While there have been numerous experimental and theoretical works investigating the nontrivial band structure and especially the van Hove singularities, the exact topological phase of this family remains to be clarified. In this work, we identify CsV$_3$Sb$_5$ as a Dirac nodal line semimetal based on the observation of multiple Dirac nodal lines and loops close to the Fermi level. Combining photoemission spectroscopy and density functional theory, we identify two groups of Dirac nodal lines along $k_z$ direction and one group of Dirac nodal loops in the A-H-L plane. These nodal loops are located at the Fermi level within the instrumental resolution limit. Importantly, our first-principle analyses indicate that these nodal loops may be a crucial source of the mysterious giant AHC observed. Our results not only provide a clear picture to categorize the band structure topology of this family of materials, but also suggest the dominant role of topological nodal loops in shaping their transport behavior.
