The article presents summaries of papers delivered at the 125th annual meeting of the American Statistical Association. The meeting took place on September 1965 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the paper "On the Construction of Stochastic Working Life Tables," by Haskel Benishay, stochastic working life tables are constructed and evaluated. The essence of the construction of stochastic rather than the traditionally deterministic working life tables is in the utilization of the realistic assumptions that the number of births, the number of entries into the labor force, the duration of life, and the duration of working life, are random variables. The end result is a working life table with a double entry in each cell rather than the single traditional one. The implications of this approach for the evaluation of fluctuations in various subcomponents of the labor force are evaluated. Another paper "Measuring Elasticities of Air Travel," by Samuel L. Brown, summarizes research on the response of demand for air travel to differences of fares, incomes, and elapsed travel time. There are three kinds of studies. Multiple regression studies of time series of air traffic, fares and income in the national domestic market yield short-period fare elasticities and income-elasticities. A quarterly first-difference model stands well the usual statistical tests.

Information about and transcriptions of several documents relating to the proceedings of the U.S. Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1787, are presented. The transcripts focus on the convention's Committee of Detail and were gleaned from the papers of Pennsylvania delegate James Wilson and encompass the committee's discussions and resolutions regarding the composition of the legislature, republican form of government for each individual state, and the judiciary.

The cooperation given to the Public Relations Committee in connection with the thirty-fourth annual convention at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by the representatives of newspapers and press agencies was even greater than the year before and in equally good taste. News stories, signed articles and editorials appeared in newspapers and newsmagazines from coast to coast. Special Columns (signed editorials) were written on various aspects of the convention by Harry Elmer Barnes, New York World-Telegram and other papers; Boake Carter, Nashville Times, New York Mirror, Boston Evening Globe, Hartford Times, etc.; Joel Sayre, Philadelphia Public Ledger, etc.; and Bentley Stegner, Cincinnati Enquirer.

Then it describes the changing character of this field, considers some opportunities for it. addresses some human resources concerns facing it, and offers a view of what it will do in the 21st century. The organization American Political Science Association held its thirty-fifth annual meeting at the Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D. C., during December 28-30, 1939. American Orthopsychiatric Association Inc. will hold its seventeenth annual meeting at Boston, Massachusetts, during February 22-24, 1940. The organization National Conference on Family Relations (NCFR) held its second annual meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during December 26-27, 1939. Members are entitled to a year's subscription to the magazine "Living," beginning with its first issue in January 1940. The significant articles presented in Philadelphia will be published in later issues of "Living." The program was organized under the leadership of Adolf Meyer, the eminent psychiatrist, who is president of the NCFR. Conference committees discussed significant subjects of special interest, including the economic basis of the family, education for family living, eugenics and the family, family counseling, marriage and family law, marriage and family research, and youth and its problems.

The article presents the information of the annual business meeting of the American Economic Association held on December 30, 1957 at Sheraton Hotel, Philadelphia. The Secretary outlined briefly the problems laced in the administration of the secretarial office during the peak load when the preparation of the 1956 Directory was added to the routine operations of the office. He explained that the necessary delays in the appearance of the 1956 Handbook made it advisable to start immediately the preparation of a 1957 supplement. The Association is still in a wholesome financial condition, despite the fact that expenses during the past year increased some $34,000 while the income increased less than $25,000. The deficit of $9,800 can be attributed chiefly to the fact that the members were provided with publications totaling $15, list price, for the $6.00 dues. That the deficit is not larger is accounted for by the fortuitous profits, took on the sale of securities. The Secretary described briefly the activities of the Committee on Research and Publications calling attention to the availability of the cosponsored publications at privileged rates to members.
