’Purpose. To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of carbon dioxide laser combined with ALA photodynamics in the treatment of condyloma acuminatum. Method. A total of 211 patients with condyloma acuminatum admitted to our hospital from April 2018 to June 2021 were selected as the observation object. They were divided into the intervention group (CO2 laser combined with ALA photodynamic therapy, 125 cases) and conventional group (CO2 laser treatment, 86 cases), and the efficacy and incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups were compared. Result. The total effective rate of the intervention group (96.00%) was significantly higher than that of the conventional group (84.88%) ( P < 0.05 ). The total incidence of adverse reactions in the intervention group (8.00%) was lower than that in the conventional group (32.56%) ( P < 0.05 ). Univariate analysis showed that the patient’s smoking history, drinking history, course of disease, wart area, and number of sexual partners were related to the short-term prognosis ( P < 0.05 ). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the patient’s course of disease, the area of the wart body, and the number of sexual partners were independent factors affecting the prognosis of patients with condyloma acuminatum ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusion. Carbon dioxide laser combined with ALA dynamics treatment of condyloma acuminatum significantly improves the clinical efficacy, does not increase the incidence of adverse reactions, and has important clinical therapeutic value. The course of the disease, the area of the wart, and the number of sexual partners are independent factors affecting the prognosis of patients with condyloma acuminatum.

Aim: Malnutrition is one of the most common complications in patients with liver cirrhosis. Abnormal energy substrate metabolism may contribute to aggravation of malnutrition. Late evening snack (LESs) supplementation has been recommended as an intervention to reduce starvation time and improve nutritional status. Published studies have analyzed the effect of LESs on the branched-chain amino acid (BCAA)/tyrosine ratio (BTR) and oxidation rate of fat and carbohydrate in patients with liver cirrhosis. Methods: We searched PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and Embase for relevant research from January 2000 to October 2018. The primary outcome for this analysis was changes in BTR and fat and carbohydrate oxidation in patients with liver cirrhosis. Results: A total of 9 articles, containing 211 patients, were included in this analysis. Objective The artificial liver support system (ALSS) is used frequently as a first‐line treatment for hepatitis B virus‐associated acute‐on‐chronic liver failure (HBV‐ACLF). This study aims to compare the therapeutic efficacy of double plasma molecular adsorption system (DPMAS) with sequential half‐dose plasma exchange (PE) (DPMAS+PE) and full‐dose PE in patients with HBV‐ACLF. Methods A total of 131 hospitalized patients who were diagnosed with HBV‐ACLF and underwent DPMAS+PE or PE were retrospectively analyzed. According to the treatment methods used, they were divided into PE group (n = 77) and DPMAS+PE group (n = 54). The main evaluation indexes included the change of liver function and the 28‐days liver transplant‐free survival rates after the different treatments. Results There were no significant differences on severity of illness between PE group and DPMAS+PE group (P > 0.05). The Meek technique is currently a key method for treating wounds in severely burned patients. The survival rate of skin grafts is an important factor affecting the success rate of treatment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the preoperative prognostic nutritional index (PNI) on the survival rate of skin grafts in patients treated with the Meek technique in the early stage of severe burns. We retrospectively analyzed the data of severely burned patients who were treated at the burn center between January 2013 and December 2019 and met the inclusion criteria. The albumin (ALB) level and lymphocyte count obtained 1 day before the operation was used to calculate the preoperative PNI (PNI = serum ALB level [g/L] + 5 × total number of peripheral blood lymphocytes [×109/L]). According to the survival rates of skin grafts 14 days after the operation, patients with severe burns were divided into a group with good skin graft survival (survival rate ≥75%, abbreviated as group G) and a group with poor skin graft survival (survival rate .05). The total burned surface area, burn index, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio, preoperative platelet count, operative time, total protein, albumin level, globulin level, and PNI were the risk factors affecting the survival of Meek grafts. The burn index was an independent risk factor for poor skin graft survival (odds ratio [OR]: 1.049, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.020–1.079; P < .05). The preoperative PNI was a protective factor against poor skin graft survival (OR: 0.646, 95% CI: 0.547–0.761; P < .05). The ROC curve determined that the optimal cut-off value for the preoperative PNI was 34.98. There were 59 cases with PNI > 34.98 (the high PNI group) and 62 cases with PNI < 34.98 (the low PNI group). The survival rate of skin grafts in patients with a high PNI was generally significantly higher than that of patients with a low preoperative PNI (P < .05). Five (8.47%) patients in the high PNI group died, compared with 16 (25.8%) patients in the low PNI group. The difference in the mortality rate between the two groups was significant (P < .05). Preoperative PNI can be used as a predictor of the survival rate of skin grafts in patients treated with the Meek technique in the early stage of severe burns.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is often associated with hiatal hernia (HH). However, the need for fundoplication during hiatal hernia repair (HHR) remains controversial. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of HHR with concomitant laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication (HHR-LNF) in HH patients. A total of 122 patients with symptomatic HH were randomized to receive either HHR (n = 61) or HHR-LNF (n = 61). The measures of evaluating outcomes included DeMeester scores (DMS), complications, Reflux Diagnostic Questionnaire and patients’ satisfaction 24 months following surgery.
