Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease primarily affecting the small intestine that is caused by the ingestion of gluten in genetically susceptible individuals. The development of celiac disease is based on a complex immune response to gluten proteins. The global average prevalence in the general population is about 1%. In recent years, it has become clear that celiac disease is not less common in Asian countries than in Western countries but often remains undiagnosed. Although the number of patients with celiac disease in Asia is expected to increase with improving disease recognition and advances in diagnostic techniques, there remain few reports of celiac disease in the Far East region of Asia, especially in Japan. In this paper, we outline the epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment of celiac disease. In addition, we summarize the reported Japanese cases of celiac disease with an overview in Japan. Background. Whether statins can reduce major cardiovascular adverse events (MACE) in patients with coronary artery spasm (CAS) is controversial. And most of the relevant research to date has been conducted in Asia. Methods. We systematically searched electronic databases for studies on the effect of statins on MACE in patients with CAS in Asia and published up to September 2022. We included data on MACE in a statin therapy patient group and a no-statin therapy control group. We then evaluated the effect of statin therapy on MACE in patients with CAS in Asia by meta-analysis and trial sequential analysis (TSA). All statistical analyses were performed using Stata 16.0 software and TSA software. Results. A total of 10 studies (n = 9333 patients) were included in the final analysis. Meta-analysis showed that the use of statins had a significant effect on MACE in CAS patients (with RR, 0.70; 95% CI, 0.49-0.99), and the sensitivity analysis further confirmed this finding. Subgroup analysis suggested that the correlation between statin therapy and reduced MACE endpoint was stronger in Japanese patients and patients followed up for more than 4 years. But our TSA results indicated that the available samples were insufficient and further research is needed. Conclusions. Our meta-analysis suggests that statin therapy can reduce MACE in patients with CAS in Asia, and the correlation between the two was stronger in Japanese patients and patients followed up for more than 4 years. On the basis of the comparative method, developed over more than two centuries of empirical study, the best results to date are that the presentday Korean and Japanese languages had a common source, called proto- Korean-Japanese. Korean and Japanese are more similar to one another than either is to any of the languages spoken in adjacent parts of Asia. That is as far as pure linguistics takes us at present. Other scientific disciplines must be utilized to determine when and where proto-Korean-Japanese was spoken, when its speakers separated into pre-Korean and pre-Japanese groups, and when the descendants of those groups resumed contact on the Korean peninsula prior to the migration of most pre-Japanese speakers to Japan. This study attempts to examine relative income effects on perceived happiness in three major Asian countries-China, Japan, and Korea-in comparison with the United Sates, on the basis of largely comparable nationwide surveys in these countries. Consistent with the results from previous studies in Western countries, comparisons with an individual's own income and average income of the reference group are significantly associated with the individual's perceived happiness in Asia. The associations between relative income and happiness are stronger for individual income than family income in China, while the opposite is true in Japan and Korea. Even after controlling for the subjective assessment of family income or personal class identification within the society as a whole, income comparisons within the reference group matter for assessing happiness, especially when using family income for comparisons. Moreover, relative deprivation within the reference group, which is measured by the Yitzhaki index, is negatively related to happiness, providing more evidence for the validity of the relative income hypothesis.
