The practice of collaboration in journalism is not new. The developments in information and communication technologies (ICTs) are understood by many scholars as the critical factor for collaborative journalism to flourish across newsrooms. By working together, practitioners can address the challenges of a profession in crisis as well as the need to produce quality investigative reporting. Much of the academic discussion regarding cooperative efforts in journalism has happened in the US and Europe. This paper aims to shed light on collaborative journalism outside this region, focusing on Latin America. To conduct our study, we looked at the literature concerning collaborative journalism in the Scopus and Scielo databases to build a survey that was shared among Latin American practitioners who worked on collaborative projects in recent years. Our findings show that Latin American news organisations are taking part or forming collaborative efforts to share a set of practices, processes, and motivations. However, their motivations are different from their Western counterparts, as Latin American journalists are looking for ways to fulfil the normative role of journalism in society and occupying spaces left by the mainstream media. By doing so, practitioners focus on topics and communities that are often misrepresented, forgotten, or underreported in the media. Finally, our paper concludes by suggesting a profile of news outlets working on collaborative projects across the region, and we provide some directions for future research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The persuasive and stimulating capacity of games has reached the information field. The newsgames have opened a stage full of possibilities and, at the same time, of questions. Located between the world of video games and journalism, they are inspired by real problems and situations that occur today. Based on the above, the study analyzes a total of 1 1 newsgames in order to identify its strengths and weaknesses as a journalistic tool, based on a qualitative methodology based on case studies, virtual ethnography and surveys of journalism students. The research analyzes the following newsgames: Narco Guerra, Escape from Woomera, FindMe", Sweatshop, Papers, Filosofighters, Democracy, Global Conflict: Palestine, Global Conflict: Latin America, Cutthroat Capitalism and Root 33. The study concludes, among other aspects, that there is a predominance of topics related to foreign policy and conflict resolution, detects their training potential and verifies the importance of the application of informational attributes typical of journalistic messages to confer credibility. Finally, the scientific interest in this type of research that contributes to the players assuming a critical citizenship was evidenced, thus recognizing their sense of belonging in a global context. The article presents a newsletter on International migration. The European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) organized the 1984 joint sessions of workshops from April 13-18 and was hosted by the University of Salzburg, Australia. The Research Committee on Migration of the International Sociological Association will organize its next inter-congress meeting on "International Migration in the Contemporary Economic Crisis" in Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia, June 1985. Professors, students, independent scholars, community professionals and others interested in Latin American, Caribbean and U.S. Latino issues a!e invited to submit proposals to present papers or organize panels for the Eighth Annual Meeting of the Illinois Conference of Latin Americanists (ICLAS) which will focus on migration to, from and within Latin America and the Caribbean. The meeting will take place at the University of Illinois at Chicago on Thursday-Saturday, November 15-17, 1984. The results of the French enquiry on the regularization of illegals in France in 1981-1982 have been published in the "Bulletin Mansuel des Statistiques due Travail (special issue: Immigration clandestine)."

From its onset on the 1990s, both digital native (with sister headings on the analog platform) as digital native news media have experienced a constant transformation process. The accelerated technological evolution linked to the changing information consumption habits of the users demanded a constant reinvention capability. Furthermore, the need for profit and the drop in advertisement sales have pushed the media to redefine their structure, content and social media presence. The Ibero-American scene has experienced a sprout of a mixture of digital native news media. They are journalistic projects, conceived from and on the Internet, which have reached considerable renown and becoming reference media on the information level. Internet prompted a reduction of the costs related to the creation of media outlets. However, the establishment of a sustainable business model is one of the main challenges. The research presented looks at the business models of Ibero-American digital native news media based on a comparative analysis of 14 case studies, alongside interviews with their founders. The findings include, among other things, a tendency for business models based on diverse and hyper-specialized content targeted at micro-audiences. This research found an interest in horizontality, participation and user engagement, and noticed the need for these media to diversify their income sources. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article examines a 1918 initiative by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson, which he termed the New Monroe Doctrine, that brought journalists from Mexico and other parts of Latin America to the U.S. with the intention of improving U.S. diplomatic relations with Mexico and Latin America. Wilson and the U.S. Committee on Public Information hoped to improve the relationship with the government of Mexican president Venustiano Carranza according to the author. In addition, the author indicates that this initiative coincided with the Mexican Revolution, and the related results in the expanded functions and political participation of the Mexican press are analyzed.
