In this paper, a new bio-inspired metaheuristic algorithm called the Lyrebird Optimization Algorithm (LOA) that imitates the natural behavior of lyrebirds in the wild is introduced. The fundamental inspiration of LOA is the strategy of lyrebirds when faced with danger. In this situation, lyrebirds scan their surroundings carefully, then either run away or hide somewhere, immobile. LOA theory is described and then mathematically modeled in two phases: (i) exploration based on simulation of the lyrebird escape strategy and (ii) exploitation based on simulation of the hiding strategy. The performance of LOA was evaluated in optimization of the CEC 2017 test suite for problem dimensions equal to 10, 30, 50, and 100. The optimization results show that the proposed LOA approach has high ability in terms of exploration, exploitation, and balancing them during the search process in the problem-solving space. In order to evaluate the capability of LOA in dealing with optimization tasks, the results obtained from the proposed approach were compared with the performance of twelve well-known metaheuristic algorithms. The simulation results show that LOA has superior performance compared to competitor algorithms by providing better results in the optimization of most of the benchmark functions, achieving the rank of first best optimizer. A statistical analysis of the performance of the metaheuristic algorithms shows that LOA has significant statistical superiority in comparison with the compared algorithms. In addition, the efficiency of LOA in handling real-world applications was investigated through dealing with twenty-two constrained optimization problems from the CEC 2011 test suite and four engineering design problems. This study proposes the One-to-One-Based Optimizer (OOBO), a new optimization technique for solving optimization problems in various scientific areas. The key idea in designing the suggested OOBO is to effectively use the knowledge of all members in the process of updating the algorithm population while preventing the algorithm from relying on specific members of the population. We use a one-to-one correspondence between the two sets of population members and the members selected as guides to increase the involvement of all population members in the update process. Each population member is chosen just once as a guide and is only utilized to update another member of the population in this one-to-one interaction. The proposed OOBO's performance in optimization is evaluated with fifty-two objective functions, encompassing unimodal, high-dimensional multimodal, and fixed-dimensional multimodal types, and the CEC 2017 test suite. The optimization results highlight the remarkable capacity of OOBO to strike a balance between exploration and exploitation within the problem-solving space during the search process. The quality of the optimization results achieved using the proposed OOBO is evaluated by comparing them to eight well-known algorithms. The simulation findings show that OOBO outperforms the other algorithms in addressing optimization problems and can give more acceptable quasi-optimal solutions. In this paper, a new bio-inspired metaheuristic algorithm named the Kookaburra Optimization Algorithm (KOA) is introduced, which imitates the natural behavior of kookaburras in nature. The fundamental inspiration of KOA is the strategy of kookaburras when hunting and killing prey. The KOA theory is stated, and its mathematical modeling is presented in the following two phases: (i) exploration based on the simulation of prey hunting and (ii) exploitation based on the simulation of kookaburras' behavior in ensuring that their prey is killed. The performance of KOA has been evaluated on 29 standard benchmark functions from the CEC 2017 test suite for the different problem dimensions of 10, 30, 50, and 100. The optimization results show that the proposed KOA approach, by establishing a balance between exploration and exploitation, has good efficiency in managing the effective search process and providing suitable solutions for optimization problems. The results obtained using KOA have been compared with the performance of 12 well-known metaheuristic algorithms. The analysis of the simulation results shows that KOA, by providing better results in most of the benchmark functions, has provided superior performance in competition with the compared algorithms. In addition, the implementation of KOA on 22 constrained optimization problems from the CEC 2011 test suite, as well as 4 engineering design problems, shows that the proposed approach has acceptable and superior performance compared to competitor algorithms in handling real-world applications. Metaheuristic optimization algorithms play an essential role in optimizing problems. In this article, a new metaheuristic approach called the drawer algorithm (DA) is developed to provide quasi-optimal solutions to optimization problems. The main inspiration for the DA is to simulate the selection of objects from different drawers to create an optimal combination. The optimization process involves a dresser with a given number of drawers, where similar items are placed in each drawer. The optimization is based on selecting suitable items, discarding unsuitable ones from different drawers, and assembling them into an appropriate combination. The DA is described, and its mathematical modeling is presented. The performance of the DA in optimization is tested by solving fifty-two objective functions of various unimodal and multimodal types and the CEC 2017 test suite. The results of the DA are compared to the performance of twelve well-known algorithms. The simulation results demonstrate that the DA, with a proper balance between exploration and exploitation, produces suitable solutions. Furthermore, comparing the performance of optimization algorithms shows that the DA is an effective approach for solving optimization problems and is much more competitive than the twelve algorithms against which it was compared to. This paper presents a new evolutionary-based approach called a Subtraction-Average-Based Optimizer (SABO) for solving optimization problems. The fundamental inspiration of the proposed SABO is to use the subtraction average of searcher agents to update the position of population members in the search space. The different steps of the SABO's implementation are described and then mathematically modeled for optimization tasks. The performance of the proposed SABO approach is tested for the optimization of fifty-two standard benchmark functions, consisting of unimodal, high-dimensional multimodal, and fixed-dimensional multimodal types, and the CEC 2017 test suite. The optimization results show that the proposed SABO approach effectively solves the optimization problems by balancing the exploration and exploitation in the search process of the problem-solving space. The results of the SABO are compared with the performance of twelve well-known metaheuristic algorithms. The analysis of the simulation results shows that the proposed SABO approach provides superior results for most of the benchmark functions. This paper introduces a new bio-inspired metaheuristic algorithm called Walrus Optimization Algorithm (WaOA), which mimics walrus behaviors in nature. The fundamental inspirations employed in WaOA design are the process of feeding, migrating, escaping, and fighting predators. The WaOA implementation steps are mathematically modeled in three phases exploration, migration, and exploitation. Sixty-eight standard benchmark functions consisting of unimodal, high-dimensional multimodal, fixed-dimensional multimodal, CEC 2015 test suite, and CEC 2017 test suite are employed to evaluate WaOA performance in optimization applications. The optimization results of unimodal functions indicate the exploitation ability of WaOA, the optimization results of multimodal functions indicate the exploration ability of WaOA, and the optimization results of CEC 2015 and CEC 2017 test suites indicate the high ability of WaOA in balancing exploration and exploitation during the search process. The performance of WaOA is compared with the results of ten well-known metaheuristic algorithms. The results of the simulations demonstrate that WaOA, due to its excellent ability to balance exploration and exploitation, and its capacity to deliver superior results for most of the benchmark functions, has exhibited a remarkably competitive and superior performance in contrast to other comparable algorithms. A new metaheuristic algorithm called green anaconda optimization (GAO) which imitates the natural behavior of green anacondas has been designed. The fundamental inspiration for GAO is the mechanism of recognizing the position of the female species by the male species during the mating season and the hunting strategy of green anacondas. GAO's mathematical modeling is presented based on the simulation of these two strategies of green anacondas in two phases of exploration and exploitation. The effectiveness of the proposed GAO approach in solving optimization problems is evaluated on twenty-nine objective functions from the CEC 2017 test suite and the CEC 2019 test suite. The efficiency of GAO in providing solutions for optimization problems is compared with the performance of twelve well-known metaheuristic algorithms. In this paper, a new stochastic optimization algorithm is introduced, called Driving Training-Based Optimization (DTBO), which mimics the human activity of driving training. The fundamental inspiration behind the DTBO design is the learning process to drive in the driving school and the training of the driving instructor. DTBO is mathematically modeled in three phases: (1) training by the driving instructor, (2) patterning of students from instructor skills, and (3) practice. The performance of DTBO in optimization is evaluated on a set of 53 standard objective functions of unimodal, high-dimensional multimodal, fixed-dimensional multimodal, and IEEE CEC2017 test functions types. The optimization results show that DTBO has been able to provide appropriate solutions to optimization problems by maintaining a proper balance between exploration and exploitation. This paper introduces a new human-based metaheuristic algorithm called Sewing Training-Based Optimization (STBO), which has applications in handling optimization tasks. The fundamental inspiration of STBO is teaching the process of sewing to beginner tailors. The theory of the proposed STBO approach is described and then mathematically modeled in three phases: (i) training, (ii) imitation of the instructor's skills, and (iii) practice. STBO performance is evaluated on fifty-two benchmark functions consisting of unimodal, high-dimensional multimodal, fixed-dimensional multimodal, and the CEC 2017 test suite. The optimization results show that STBO, with its high power of exploration and exploitation, has provided suitable solutions for benchmark functions. The performance of STBO is compared with eleven well-known metaheuristic algorithms. The simulation results show that STBO, with its high ability to balance exploration and exploitation, has provided far more competitive performance in solving benchmark functions than competitor algorithms. Metaheuristic algorithms have a wide range of applications in handling optimization problems. In this study, a new metaheuristic algorithm, called the chef-based optimization algorithm (CBOA), is developed. The fundamental inspiration employed in CBOA design is the process of learning cooking skills in training courses. The stages of the cooking training process in various phases are mathematically modeled with the aim of increasing the ability of global search in exploration and the ability of local search in exploitation. A collection of 52 standard objective functions is utilized to assess the CBOA's performance in addressing optimization issues. The optimization results show that the CBOA is capable of providing acceptable solutions by creating a balance between exploration and exploitation and is highly efficient in the treatment of optimization problems. In addition, the CBOA's effectiveness in dealing with real-world applications is tested on four engineering problems. Supply Chain (SC) Optimization is a key activity in today's industry with the goal of increasing operational efficiency, reducing costs, and improving customer satisfaction. Traditional optimization methods often struggle to effectively use resources while handling complex and dynamic Supply chain networks. This paper introduces a novel biomimetic metaheuristic algorithm called the Wombat Optimization Algorithm (WOA) for supply chain optimization. This algorithm replicates the natural behaviors observed in wombats living in the wild, particularly focusing on their foraging tactics and evasive maneuvers towards predators. The theory of WOA is described and then mathematically modeled in two phases: (i) exploration based on the simulation of wombat movements during foraging and trying to find food and (ii) exploitation based on simulating wombat movements when diving towards nearby tunnels to defend against its predators. The effectiveness of WOA in addressing optimization challenges is assessed by handling the CEC 2017 test suite across various problem dimensions, including 10, 30, 50, and 100. The findings of the optimization indicate that WOA demonstrates a strong ability to effectively manage exploration and exploitation, and maintains a balance between them throughout the search phase to deliver optimal solutions for optimization problems. A total of twelve well-known metaheuristic algorithms are called upon to test their performance against WOA in the optimization process. The outcomes of the simulations reveal that WOA outperforms the other algorithms, achieving superior results across most benchmark functions and securing the top ranking as the most efficient optimizer. Using a Wilcoxon rank sum test statistical analysis, it has been proven that WOA outperforms other algorithms significantly. This article's innovation and novelty are introducing a new metaheuristic method called mother optimization algorithm (MOA) that mimics the human interaction between a mother and her children. The real inspiration of MOA is to simulate the mother's care of children in three phases education, advice, and upbringing. The mathematical model of MOA used in the search process and exploration is presented. The performance of MOA is assessed on a set of 52 benchmark functions, including unimodal and high-dimensional multimodal functions, fixed-dimensional multimodal functions, and the CEC 2017 test suite. The findings of optimizing unimodal functions indicate MOA's high ability in local search and exploitation. The findings of optimization of high-dimensional multimodal functions indicate the high ability of MOA in global search and exploration. The findings of optimization of fixed-dimension multi-model functions and the CEC 2017 test suite show that MOA with a high ability to balance exploration and exploitation effectively supports the search process and can generate appropriate solutions for optimization problems. The outcomes quality obtained from MOA has been compared with the performance of 12 often-used metaheuristic algorithms. Upon analysis and comparison of the simulation results, it was found that the proposed MOA outperforms competing algorithms with superior and significantly more competitive performance. Precisely, the proposed MOA delivers better results in most objective functions. Furthermore, the application of MOA on four engineering design problems demonstrates the efficacy of the proposed approach in solving real-world optimization problems. Optimization is an important and fundamental challenge to solve optimization problems in different scientific disciplines. In this paper, a new stochastic nature-inspired optimization algorithm called Pelican Optimization Algorithm (POA) is introduced. The main idea in designing the proposed POA is simulation of the natural behavior of pelicans during hunting. In POA, search agents are pelicans that search for food sources. The mathematical model of the POA is presented for use in solving optimization issues. The performance of POA is evaluated on twenty-three objective functions of different unimodal and multimodal types. The optimization results of unimodal functions show the high exploitation ability of POA to approach the optimal solution while the optimization results of multimodal functions indicate the high ability of POA exploration to find the main optimal area of the search space. Moreover, four engineering design issues are employed for estimating the efficacy of the POA in optimizing real-world applications. The findings of POA are compared with eight well-known metaheuristic algorithms to assess its competence in optimization. The simulation results and their analysis show that POA has a better and more competitive performance via striking a proportional balance between exploration and exploitation compared to eight competitor algorithms in providing optimal solutions for optimization problems. A new bio-inspired metaheuristic algorithm named the Pufferfish Optimization Algorithm (POA), that imitates the natural behavior of pufferfish in nature, is introduced in this paper. The fundamental inspiration of POA is adapted from the defense mechanism of pufferfish against predators. In this defense mechanism, by filling its elastic stomach with water, the pufferfish becomes a spherical ball with pointed spines, and as a result, the hungry predator escapes from this threat. The POA theory is stated and then mathematically modeled in two phases: (i) exploration based on the simulation of a predator's attack on a pufferfish and (ii) exploitation based on the simulation of a predator's escape from spiny spherical pufferfish. The performance of POA is evaluated in handling the CEC 2017 test suite for problem dimensions equal to 10, 30, 50, and 100. The optimization results show that POA has achieved an effective solution with the appropriate ability in exploration, exploitation, and the balance between them during the search process. In this paper, a new bio-inspired metaheuristic algorithm called Giant Armadillo Optimization (GAO) is introduced, which imitates the natural behavior of giant armadillo in the wild. The fundamental inspiration in the design of GAO is derived from the hunting strategy of giant armadillos in moving towards prey positions and digging termite mounds. The theory of GAO is expressed and mathematically modeled in two phases: (i) exploration based on simulating the movement of giant armadillos towards termite mounds, and (ii) exploitation based on simulating giant armadillos' digging skills in order to prey on and rip open termite mounds. The performance of GAO in handling optimization tasks is evaluated in order to solve the CEC 2017 test suite for problem dimensions equal to 10, 30, 50, and 100. The optimization results show that GAO is able to achieve effective solutions for optimization problems by benefiting from its high abilities in exploration, exploitation, and balancing them during the search process. In this research article, we uphold the principles of the No Free Lunch theorem and employ it as a driving force to introduce an innovative game-based metaheuristic technique named Golf Optimization Algorithm (GOA). The GOA is meticulously structured with two distinctive phases, namely, exploration and exploitation, drawing inspiration from the strategic dynamics and player conduct observed in the sport of golf. Through comprehensive assessments encompassing fifty-two objective functions and four real-world engineering applications, the efficacy of the GOA is rigorously examined. The results of the optimization process reveal GOA's exceptional proficiency in both exploration and exploitation strategies, effectively striking a harmonious equilibrium between the two. Comparative analyses against ten competing algorithms demonstrate a clear and statistically significant superiority of the GOA across a spectrum of performance metrics. Furthermore, the successful application of the GOA to the intricate energy commitment problem, considering network resilience, underscores its prowess in addressing complex engineering challenges. This study introduces the extension of currently developed Seagull Optimization Algorithm (SOA) in terms of multi-objective problems, which is entitled as Multi-objective Seagull Optimization Algorithm (MOSOA). In this algorithm, a concept of dynamic archive is introduced, which has the feature to cache the non-dominated Pareto optimal solutions. The roulette wheel selection approach is utilized to choose the effective archived solutions by simulating the migration and attacking behaviors of seagulls. The proposed algorithm is approved by testing it with twenty-four benchmark test functions, and its performance is compared with existing metaheuristic algorithms. The developed algorithm is analyzed on six constrained problems of engineering design to assess its appropriateness for finding the solutions of real-world problems.
