Herein, a surprisingly high-performance Ni-based metal–organic framework for CO 2 adsorption, namely MOF-74(Ni), was synthesized by a facile condensation reflux approach. It was found that the structure and CO 2 adsorption isosteric heat of MOF-74(Ni) could tune upon varying the synthesis duration under various temperatures. The optimized MOF-74(Ni)-24-140 (synthesized at 140 °C for 24 h) displays outstanding CO 2 adsorption capacity of 8.29/6.61 mmol/g at 273/298 K under normal pressure of 1.0 bar, several times higher than previously reported MOF-74-Ni (2.0/2.1 times), UTSA-16 (1.5/1.6 times), and DA-CMP-1 (3.6/4.9 times) under similar conditions. The excellent CO 2 capture capacity is associated to the abundant adsorption sites (mainly arising from the cationic Ni2+ ions) and narrow micropore channels (mainly arising from the cage structure of Ni2+ ions coordinated with organic linkers). Offering a high CO 2 selectivity (CO 2 /N 2 = 49) and a well-tuned isosteric heat of CO 2 adsorption (27–52 kJ/mol) besides its decent CO 2 capture capacity, MOF-74(Ni) strongly stands out as an efficient and strong CO 2 capturing material with industrial scale applicability. In this study, a magnetic/dielectric composite precursor is obtained by in situ growing zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 nanoparticles on the surface of acidified multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). After pyrolyzing the precursor in an argon atmosphere, a kind of nano-heterogeneous composite wave absorber was prepared. Subsequently, a new type of magnetic/dielectric wave-absorbing composite was prepared by heating and curing Co–C–MWCNTs and epoxy resin, and the properties of the composite were adjusted by changing the content of Co–C–MWCNTs. A variety of modern characterization methods were used to systematically study the micro-morphology, element composition and electromagnetic properties of the composite. The results show that after the combination of MWCNTs and Co–C particles with regular dodecahedron structure, a special synergistic effect appears. The addition of magnetic MOF derivatives not only improves the impedance matching characteristics of the composite and increases the magnetic loss mechanism, but also provides a new path for the transmission of electromagnetic waves because of its special pore structure and the three-dimensional network structure formed by cross-linking with MWCNTs. The interface polarization and multiple scattering effects greatly improve the attenuation efficiency of electromagnetic waves. In X-band (8–12 GHz), the Co–C–MWCNTs/EP composite with a loading of 17.5 wt% can achieve an effective absorption bandwidth of 2.38 GHz when the matching thickness is 1.6 mm. The combination of novel MOF-derived materials and traditional carbon materials is expected to provide new ideas for the design of composites with microwave absorption capabilities. Photocatalysis is a green technology for the treatment of all kinds of contaminants and has advantages over other treatment methods. Recently, much effort has been devoted to developing new photocatalytic materials based on metal-organic frameworks for use in the degradation of many kinds of organic contaminants. With the aim of searching for more effective photocatalysts, the title three-dimensional coordination polymer, [Cd2(C8H4O4)2(C18H16N2O2)] n, was prepared. The asymmetric unit contains one CdII cation, one benzene-1,2-dicarboxylate anion (denoted L2−) and half of a centrosymmetric 1,4-bis(pyridin-3-ylmethoxy)benzene ligand (denoted bpmb). Each CdII centre is five-coordinated by four carboxylate O atoms from two L2− ligands and by one N atom from a bpmb ligand, forming a disordered pentagonal pyramidal coordination geometry. The CdII centres are interlinked by L2− ligands to form a one-dimensional [Cd2 L2] n chain. Adjacent chains are further connected by bpmb linkers, giving rise to a two-dimensional network, and these networks are pillared by bpmb to afford a three-dimensional framework with a 33.42.63.71.81 topology. Each grid in the framework has large channels which are filled mainly by the two other equivalent frameworks to form a threefold interpenetrating net. In the title coordination polymer, [Pb(C14H8N2O4)(CH3OH)2] n, the asymmetric unit contains half of a PbII cation, half of a 2,2′-(diazene-1,2-diyl)dibenzoate dianionic ligand (denoted L2−) and one methanol ligand. Each PbII centre is eight-coordinated by six O atoms of chelating/bridging carboxylate groups from four L2− ligands and two O atoms from two terminal methanol ligands, forming a distorted dodecahedron. The [Pb L2(MeOH)2] subunits are interlinked via the sharing of two carboxylate O atoms to form a one-dimensional [Pb L2(MeOH)2] n chain. Adjacent chains are further connected by L2− ligands, giving rise to a two-dimensional layer, and these layers are bridged by L2− linkers to afford a three-dimensional framework with a 41263 topology. In the title coordination polymer, [Zn2(C14H8N2O4)2(C12H10N2)] n, the asymmetric unit contains one ZnII cation, two halves of 2,2′-(diazene-1,2-diyl)dibenzoate anions (denoted L2−) and half of a 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-yl)ethene ligand (denoted bpe). The three ligands lie across crystallographic inversion centres. Each ZnII centre is four-coordinated by three O atoms of bridging carboxylate groups from three L2− ligands and by one N atom from a bpe ligand, forming a tetrahedral coordination geometry. Two ZnII atoms are bridged by two carboxylate groups of L2− ligands, generating a [Zn2(CO2)2] ring. Each loop serves as a fourfold node, which links its four equivalent nodes via the sharing of four L2− ligands to form a two-dimensional [Zn2 L4] n net. In poly[[μ2-1,2-bis(pyridin-4-yl)ethene-κ2 N: N′][μ2-2,2′-(diazenediyl)dibenzoato-κ3 O, O′: O′′]cadmium(II)], [Cd(C14H8N2O4)(C12H10N2)] n, the asymmetric unit contains one CdII cation, one 2,2′-(diazenediyl)dibenzoate anion (denoted L2−) and one 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-yl)ethene ligand (denoted bpe). Each CdII centre is six-coordinated by four O atoms of bridging/chelating carboxylate groups from three L2− ligands and by two N atoms from two bpe ligands, forming a distorted octahedron. The CdII cations are bridged by L2− and bpe ligands to give a two-dimensional (4,4) layer. Layered double hydroxide (LDH), as an electrode material, consists of positively charged layers and interlayer hydrated anions and is endowed with promising prospects in supercapacitors (SCs) due to its large specific surface area, tunable metal ions, abundant redox active sites, and low cost. Moreover, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) exhibit adjustable pore sizes, while multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) boast exceptional electrical conductivity. Hence, in this work, flower-like nickel/manganese layered double hydroxide (Ni/Mn-LDH) was introduced into nanohybrid of MWCNTs decorated with nickel metal-organic frameworks (Ni-MOFs/MWCNTs) to fabricate a novel Ni-MOFs/MWCNTs@Ni/Mn-LDH nanohybrid as electrode material for SCs using a two-step solvothermal method. In the composite structure of the novel Ni-MOFs/MWCNTs@Ni/Mn-LDH nanohybrid, the flower-like assembly of Ni/Mn-LDH nanosheets was seamlessly integrated with MWCNTs adorning the Ni-MOFs, creating an interconnected hierarchical porous network. This distinctive structure, coupled with the synergistic effects of its components, facilitated the swift diffusion of electrolyte ions. Furthermore, it enhanced the accessibility to more active sites at the interfaces during the redox process, thereby contributing considerably to an improved electrochemical performance. The specific capacity of the Ni-MOFs/MWCNTs@Ni/Mn-LDH nanohybrid as electrode material obtained at the optimal experimental conditions was 1151.0C g−1 at 1.0 A g−1. The low-energy ultraviolet or visible photons can be produced by the interaction between the scintillator materials and ionizing radiation. For this reason, scintillator materials are widely used as radiation detectors, which are prevalently utilized in different applications such as nuclear medicine imaging, homeland security, high-energy physics, oil drilling explorations, etc. Herein, a high-atomic-number (Z) zirconium-based metal-organic framework nanoflower material CJLU-1 (Zr 6 (μ 3 -O) 4 (μ 3 -OH) 4 (OH) 6 (TCA) 2 (H 2 O) 6) (H 3 TCA = tri-carboxylic acids 4,4′,4″-nitrilotribenzoic acid) was synthesized and can effectively convert X-ray into visible light. CJLU-1 is composed of secondary structural unit hexagonal Zr metal cluster and connected by TCA ligands. The photo luminescence spectra (PL) emission peak and excitation peak of CJLU-1 are at 470 nm and 395 nm respectively. CJLU-1 exhibited radioluminescence (RL) peak with a maximum at 480 nm under steady-state excitation with X-rays. Moreover, by accommodating different guest molecules such as xylene and RhB in the same MOF material, intensity-tunable X-ray scintillation can be facilely achieved, providing a new class of scintillating materials with luminescence intensity tunability. The high-Z hexagonal Zr clusters, which are arranged in an orderly fashion, absorb and interact with the ionizing radiation and sensitize the adjacent organic ligands TCA to produce efficient RL. This work contributes to the development of high-Z zirconium-based MOFs and RL intensity-tunable scintillation materials towards future practical nuclear sensing applications. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with a periodic network structure are formed by self-assembled coordination links between one or more metal centers and organic ligands. In recent years, MOFs as electrode materials for supercapacitors (SCs) have been favored by researchers due to the tunable pore sizes, high surface area, and abundant active sites. However, the disadvantages of MOFs such as poor electrical conductivity and electrochemical stability limit their further application. In this work, nickel MOFs (Ni-MOFs) were grown in situ on graphite nanosheets (GNS) to form GNS decorated with Ni-MOFs (Ni-MOFs/GNS) by one-pot solvothermal method. The electrochemical properties of the Ni-MOFs/GNS as electrode materials could be tuned by adjusting the amount of GNS and the experimental conditions to regulate the structures. Moreover, Ni-MOFs grown in situ in GNS could improve the conductivity and dispersion of Ni-MOFs to avoid aggregation. The results indicated that the specific capacity of the Ni-MOFs/GNS electrode materials obtained at the optimal experimental conditions was 737.0C g−1 at 1 A g−1, and the capacity retention rate reached 61.1 % after 10,000 cycles. The study of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as luminescence sensors for the detection of polluting molecules and ions are of great importance to the health of all creatures in the world. In this research field, lanthanide ions, especially for Eu3+ and Tb3+, have intrinsic advantages based on their outstanding luminescent properties. To develop smart luminescence sensors towards heavy metal ions and acid anions, two new lanthanide(III)-based MOFs: {[Ln 2 (btpdc) 3 ·DMF·2H 2 O]·2DMF·4H 2 O} n (Ln ​= ​Eu (1), Tb (2), H 2 btpdc ​= ​benzo[ b ]thiophene-2,6-dicarboxylic acid) were designed and synthesized under solvothermal condition based on a dicarboxylate ligand H 2 btpdc. Single crystal X-ray diffraction tests show the two complexes are isostructural with three dimensional (3D) porous framework structure. Notably, both of them exhibit good chemical stability in water. Under the excitation of ultra-violet light, 1 can exhibit strong Eu3+-based red light emission in both solid state and aqueous suspension while 2 doesn't show observable luminescence emission. The luminescence sensing experiments performed on 1 reveal that it can be employed as a smart "turn-off" luminescence sensor for the detection of Fe3+ or S2− in aqueous solution with high selectivity, low detection limit, good anti-interference ability and recyclability. The obtained quenching constant K sv and detection limits are 2.316 ​× ​104 ​M−1 and 0.26 ​μM, respectively, for Fe3+, and 1.38 ​× ​104 ​M−1 and 1.05 ​μM, respectively, for S2−. Based on a sulfur-contained ligand, a Eu3+ MOF was synthesized which exhibits high performance in luminescence sensing of Fe3+ and S2− in aqueous solution with host-guest interaction. Closed-shell metal-organic frameworks have attracted much attention for their plentiful structural features and remarkable fluorescent properties. Herein, via solvothermal method, novel triphenylamine-based Cd(II) metal-organic framework, {[Cd 2 (TFBA)(bibp) 2 H 2 O]·DMF·2H 2 O} n (MOF-1) (H 3 TFBA ​= ​tris(3'-F-4'-carboxybiphenyl)amine, bibp ​= ​4,4'-Di(1H-imidazole-1-yl)-1,1'-biphenyl), has been successfully synthesized and fully characterized. Based on single-crystal X-ray analysis, MOF-1 crystallizes in triclinic space group P-1 and displays a three-dimensional 3D framework structure. MOF-1 presents excellent thermal stability and chemical stability in various pH aqueous solution and DMF. The luminescent sensing studies indicate that MOF-1 could rapidly detect Cr 2 O 7 2−, CrO 4 2− and picric acid (TNP) by luminescence quenching in aqueous solution with high sensitivity. Two similar N-Oxide-functionalized pillared Cd(II) metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), {[Cd(dpdcdo)(bpe) 0.5 (H 2 O)]·DMF·H 2 O} n (1) and {[Cd(dpdcdo)(bpe) 0.5 (H 2 O)]·DMA} n (2) [DMF ​= ​N,N-dimethylformamide, DMA ​= ​N,N-dimethylacetamide], have been obtained based on axially chiral 2,2′-dipyridine-3,3′-dicarboxylate-1,1′-dioxide (H 2 dpdcdo) ligand and rigid trans -1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethene (bpe) pillar. The N-Oxide group decorated in the channel of the Cd(II)-MOFs could provide effective "open donor sites" to enhance their affinity toward CO 2 molecule. The gas adsorption properties of the Cd(II) framework have been investigated by N 2 , H 2 , CH 4 , and CO 2 gases, and it reveals good CO 2 uptake, CO 2 sorption affinity, and sorption selectivity of CO 2 over CH 4 at ambient temperature. In addition, the solid-state luminescence properties of MOFs 1 and 2 have been conducted at room temperature, and they exhibit luminescent emission upon H 2 dpdcdo ligand. A novel luminescent metal-organic framework (MOF) with the formula of [Cd 2 (TFBA)(HCOO)(bpe)H 2 O]n (MOF - 1) (H 3 TFBA ​= ​tris(3′-F-4′-carboxybiphenyl)amine, bpe ​= ​ trans -1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethene) has been designed and synthesized through solvothermal reaction. The Cd-MOF crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P 2 1 / C , exhibiting non-interpenetrating 3D microporous structure. MOF - 1 displays outstanding stability in water and other common small organic solvents. It's noteworthy that water suspension of MOF-1 exhibits good fluorescence performance, which was effectively quenched by Fe3+ and Cr 2 O 7 2− with the K sv values of 1.15 ​× ​106 ​M-1 and 1.22 ​× ​104 ​M-1, respectively. Moreover, MOF-1 is capable of sensing acetylacetone in DMF with obvious luminescence enhancement and the detection limit is 37.30 ​ppm. Combined with anti-interference capability and reusability, MOF-1 can be considered as a potential luminescent sensor for detection of Fe3+ and Cr 2 O 7 2− in H 2 O solution and acetylacetone in DMF. Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have great potential for photocatalysis, but only possess moderate activity due to their slow charge transfer and low solar energy conversion. Herein, heterostructures photocatalysts constructed by boron nitride quantum dots (BNQDs) and MIL-100(Fe) (MNB) were successfully fabricated for overcoming these shortcomings. It was indicated that the composites possessed large surface area, mesoporous structure, and enhanced visible light absorption. The MNB photocatalysts exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity for tetracycline hydrochloride (TC-HCl) degradation under visible light irradiation. Compared with MIL-100(Fe), the photodegradation rate of TC-HCl by MNB-1 was 0.02383 min−1, which was 5.3 times higher than that of pure MIL-100(Fe). The close contact of MIL-100(Fe) with BNQDs and the synergistic effect between them were the main reasons for the improved photodegradation performance. This study reveals that a rational combination of MIL-100(Fe) and BNQDs can improve photocatalytic activity to enhance molecular oxygen activation. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been widely concerned for their excellent user-configuration flexibility to be capable of different tasks. A popular trend of their diversified development is pyrolyzing them to produce derived materials with improved stability, conductivity, and well-inherited characteristics. Thanks to these properties, prepared MOF derivatives are gradually testified as alternative catalysts in advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), involving Fenton reaction, sulfate radical-based AOPs (SR-AOPs) as well as photocatalysis for efficient pollutants degradation. Unfortunately, the introduction of the synthetic method of MOF derivatives is relatively rough yet and a comprehensive understanding of the differences in their application to different AOPs systems has not emerged. This review creatively details synthetic strategies of MOF derivatives by analyzing their special conditions and procedures. And starting with suitable MOF precursors, the review focuses on their changes in structure and component during derivation and associates them with performance improvements in AOPs. Besides, the related mechanisms are also discussed respectively by distinguishing the functional sites in different systems. Hydrothermal reaction of Zn(NO 3) 2 ·6H 2 O with a flexible bipyridyl ligand, (pyridin-4-yl)methyl 3-(2-(4-((pyridin-4-yl)methoxy)phenyl)diazenyl)benzoate (L) and 1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid (1,3-H 2 BDC) gave rise to a novel metal-organic framework (MOF), {[Zn (1,3-BDC)L]∙H 2 O} n. The as-synthesized MOF has been characterized by Fourier transformed infrared (FT-IR), powder X-ray diffraction, single-crystal X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). By introduction of the ligand L containing ester, diazene and ether groups, a large number of oxygen and nitrogen sites that can be readily protonated in acidic conditions were successfully decorated on the surfaces of the predesigned MOF. The as-prepared protonated Zn-MOF with abundant positive charges (−N NH+−, –OH+−, –COOH+−) was applied as an adsorbent to remove anionic dyes from aqueous solutions. Such an adsorbent exhibited ultrahigh uptake capacities for different sized anionic dyes of Amido Black 10 B (AB, 2402.82 mg g−1), Methyl Orange (MO, 744.02 mg g−1), Orange ΙΙ (OII, 522.83 mg g−1) and Direct Red 80 (DR, 1496.34 mg g−1). The anionic dyes uptakes of the adsorbent are obviously higher than that of most reported adsorbents. Moreover, the adsorbent showed excellent selectivity in the adsorption of anionic dyes. The adsorption process followed the pseudo-second-order kinetics. The equilibrium adsorption isotherm data were well fitted by Langmuir and Sips models. FT-IR, zeta potential analysis and SEM investigation revealed that the interactions between the protonated Zn-MOF and the anionic dyes are mainly dominated by electrostatic interaction and surface adsorption. This work may provide a new perspective for the development of functional materials on the removal of contaminants from water environment.
