This paper describes a flow control of the dye in the paper mill with the quasi-Z-source indirect matrix converter (QZSIMC) fed induction motor drive. More than a decade the voltage-source inverter (VSI) and current-source inverter (CSI) have been used to control the speed of the induction motor, which in turns controls the flow of dye. Recently, the matrix converter (MC) has been an excellent competitor for the VSI or CSI for its compactness. The voltage transfer ratio of the VSI, CSI, and MC has been limited to 0.866. Thus, the efficiency of these converters is less. To improve the voltage transfer ratio the quasi-Z-source network (QZSN) is to be used between voltage source and indirect MC (IMC). The modification in the shoot-through duty ratio of the QZSN varies the voltage transfer ratio greater than 0.866. Different voltage transfer ratios are needed for different voltage sag conditions. For a variation of the duty ratio of the QZSN, the fuzzy logic controller has been presented. To control the IMC vector control with space vector modulation has been presented. This paper proposes the implementation of QZSIMC adjustable speed drive for the flow control of dye in paper mill during different voltage sag conditions. A 4-kW prototype has been built and the effectiveness of the proposed system is verified with simulation results and experimental setup. Simulation is done in MATLAB, Simulink platform. Experimental setup is done with the aid of a TMS320F2812 (Texas Instrument) processor. The experimental results validate the maintenance of the speed of an induction motor at the set condition, thus controlling the perfect flow of dye in paper manufacturing technology. Medium-voltage DC (MVDC) technology has gained increasing attention in recent years. Power electronics devices dominate these grids. Accurate simulation of such a grid, with detailed models of switching semiconductors, can quickly became very time-consuming, according to the number of connected devices to be simulated. A simulation approach based on interactions on a continuous time model can be very interesting, especially for developing a system-level control model of such a modern MVDC distribution grid. The aim of this paper is to present all the steps required for obtaining a continuous time modelling of a +/−10 kV MVDC grid case study, including a solid-state transformer (SST)- and modular multilevel converter (MMC)-based active front end (AFE). An additional aim of this paper is to supply educational content about the use of the continuous time simulation approach, thanks to a detailed description of the various devices modelled into the presented MVDC grid. This paper accentuates the study of LLC resonant converter by a comparative analysis of the properties of LLC resonant and pulse width modulation direct current-direct current converters. Lately, LLC resonant converters have become more appealing and desirable in many applications than other pulse width modulation converters (e.g., Buck, Boost, Cuk) for their soft-switching techniques like zero voltage switching, zero current switching as well as low electromagnetic interference. This paper presents an analysis of efficiency variation, output voltage's ripple, and various transient performances like percentage overshoot, and the settling time with the variation of load current in a comparative way between LLC resonant converter's buck, boost operation, and conventional pulse width modulation converter's buck, boost operation. Feedback prop ortio nal-i ntegr al-d eriva tive duty cycle controller is used in all converter topologies for some specific analysis. A fixed input voltage of 100 V is selected for simulation and an output voltage of 24 V for buck operation and 120 V for boost operation are chosen. In order to solve the problem of low gray level due to the few driving chips developed based on the photoelectric characteristics of electrowetting display, a driving method based on modulation is proposed to double the gray level of electrowetting display. In this method, the driving waveform based on pulse amplitude modulation and pulse width modulation hybrid modulation is designed, and the gray level-luminance curve of the electrowetting display is measured and analyzed. On this basis, the luminance nonlinear correction is carried out, and the improvement of 64 Gy levels to 127 Gy levels is realized by the principle of human visual persistence phenomenon. The experimental results show that the proposed driving scheme can break through the limitation of the driving chip and realize the multiplication of gray levels, in which 96% gray levels increase steadily with an average luminance difference of 0.07, and at the same time enhance the contrast and improve the display effect. A Multilevel Inverter (MLI) meets the power requirements of most power electronic applications. It can provide an AC supply with better power quality. The higher number of levels in an MLI results in better power quality output. Based on the design concept of dynamic and static isolation, disturbance-free payload (DFP) satellites can isolate the effects of interference on sensitive payloads, and can realize the high-precision control of the payload better than a traditional spacecraft. Among these, non-contact annular electromagnetic stabilized spacecraft (NCAESS) can effectively alleviate control output problems such as the six-degree-of-freedom coupling and nonlinear effects found in traditional non-contact spacecraft. As a key actuator, the driving current control of the non-contact annular electromagnetic actuator (NCAEA) will have a direct impact on the attitude performance of NCAESS. However, there are multiple interference effects present in the actual driving current control. Therefore, this paper proposes a composite control scheme to improve the driving accuracy by suppressing these multiple disturbances. Firstly, the variable-switching-frequency pulse-width modulation is used to adjust the switching frequency adaptively to reduce switch ripple. Secondly, feedforward compensation is employed to mitigate the back electromotive force. Thirdly, the robust Smith predictor is utilized to compensate for the digital control delay. Finally, an internal model proportional–integral controller with fuzzy rule is applied to adjust the parameters adaptively. The numerical simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach can be adopted to enhance the robustness and dynamic response of the driving current effectively, which leads to precise control of the non-contact annular electromagnetic stabilized spacecraft. This work experimentally addresses damage calibration of an unmanned aerial vehicle in operational condition. A wide range of damage level and types are simulated and controlled by an electric motor via pulse width modulation in this regard. The measurement is carried out via established protocols of using a piezo-patch on one of the 8 arms, utilising the vibration sensitivity and flexibility of the arms, demonstrating repeatability of such protocol. Subsequently, recurrence analysis on the voltage time series data is performed for detection of damage. Quantifiers of damage extent are then created for the full range of damage conditions, including the extreme case of complete loss of power. Experimental baseline condition for no damage condition is also established in this regard. Both diagonal-line and vertical-line based indicators from recurrence analysis are sensitive to the quantitative estimates of damage levels and a statistical test of significance analysis confirms that it is possible to automate distinguishing the levels of damage. This paper presents a groundbreaking control strategy for a bidirectional battery charger that allows power to be injected into the smart grid while simultaneously compensating for the grid's reactive power using an electric vehicle battery. An artificial neural network (ANN) controller is utilized for precise design to ensure optimal performance with minimal error. The ANN technique is applied to generate sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) for a bidirectional AC–DC inverter, with the entire algorithm simulated in MATLAB Simulink.The core innovation of this study is the creation of the ANN algorithm, which supports grid compensation using electric vehicle batteries, an approach termed "vehicle-for-grid". Additionally, the paper details the PCB circuit design of the system controlled by the DSP F28379D board, which was tested on a three-phase motor. The total harmonic distortion (THD) of the proposed ANN algorithm is approximately 1.85 % , compared to the MPC algorithm's THD of about 2.85 % . This indicates that the proposed algorithm is more effective in terms of the quality of the power injected into the grid. This paper presents a Markov chain random carrier frequency modulation (MRCFM) technique for suppressing sideband vibro-acoustic responses caused by discontinuous pulse-width modulation (DPWM) in permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) for new energy vehicles. Firstly, the spectral and order distributions of the sideband current harmonics and radial electromagnetic forces introduced by DPWM are characterized and identified. Then, the principle and implementation method of three-state Markov chain random number generation are proposed, and particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is chosen to quickly find the key parameters of transition probability and random gain. A Simulink and JMAG multi-physics field co-simulation model is built to simulate and predict the suppression effect of the MRCFM method on the sideband vibro-acoustic response. Finally, a 12-slot-10-pole PMSM test platform is built for experimental testing. The results show that the sideband current harmonics and vibro-acoustic response are effectively suppressed after the optimization of Markov chain algorithm. Carrier phase‐shifted sine pulse width modulation is a common modulation strategy for medium‐ and low‐voltage cascaded H‐bridges (CHB). This paper proposes a novel jittered‐carrier phase‐shifted sine pulse width modulation (JCPS‐SPWM) to reduce the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the converter. It makes the carrier jitter regularly while the total switching times remain unchanged, which reduces the THD of the bridge arm voltage and current by moving the low‐order output harmonics of the bridge arm voltage and current to filterable high‐order harmonics. Since the total number of switching times remains unchanged, this modulation strategy will not cause any increase in switching loss. A seven‐level CHB simulation model and an experimental prototype are built to verify the effectiveness of the approach. PWM (pulse width modulation) is the most widely applied current conversion technology, but the high-frequency harmonics it causes have a significant negative impact on inverter system performance. This paper focuses on the three-phase T-type three-level inverter as the research object and addresses existing PWM voltage noise and midpoint potential imbalance issues by proposing an improved random SVPWM strategy, named Neutral Point Potential Balance Random Space Vector PWM (NPB–RSVPWM). The NPB–RSVPWM strategy includes three main steps: (1) introducing a midpoint potential balancing control loop to adjust the synthesis timing of the effective vectors to generate pulse signals, optimizing midpoint potential balance; (2) employing a randomly varying carrier frequency in place of the carrier used in the SVPWM strategy to generate the driving signals for switching devices; and (3) controlling the inverter through the driving pulse signals. This strategy optimizes the synthesis sequence of traditional SVPWM strategy vectors and incorporates random frequency modulation techniques. The mathematical model analyzes PWM harmonic expressions corresponding to fixed switching frequencies, and a random frequency carrier is chosen to suppress these PWM harmonics. The effective vector's equivalent circuit is analyzed, proposing a technique for optimized vector synthesis timing. The simulation and experimental results verify that the NPB–RSVPWM technique can disperse PWM harmonic energy, reduce voltage noise, and optimize midpoint potential balance. Under the NPB–RSVPWM strategy, the line voltage spectrum becomes uniform, the maximum harmonic content is greatly reduced, and the fluctuation in the DC side midpoint potential is significantly improved. Compared with the traditional SVPWM strategy and random PWM strategy, the NPB–RSVPWM strategy has a lower voltage noise, smaller total harmonic distortion, and a more stable midpoint potential. A single-inductor multiple-input multiple-output converter is proposed in this paper that can be used in low-power systems due to low output current and voltage. This converter is implemented discretely, and only one microcontroller is employed to control the system. The unique zero-current switching (ZCS) technique considered in this paper is such that only by reading the inductor's left-side voltage the optimal value of the inductor discharge duty cycle is determined. This method can be generalized to low-power and high-power converters, whether implemented and designed as discrete or integrated. This converter works in discontinuous conduction mode. It uses pulse width modulation control and the time-multiplexing control method, which makes the system have high efficiency and makes the cross-regulation problem between the converter's outputs tiny. The control algorithm considered in this converter is digital, which determines the optimal charge and discharge duty cycles. Also, the switching frequency of this converter is constant, relatively low, and equal to 5 kHz. With the increasing number of new energy sources connected to the grid, the unbalanced output of three-phase grid-connected inverters and the lack of no inertia and damping characteristics in the traditional microgrid control system will seriously affect the stability of voltage, frequency, and power angle for microgrids. This paper proposes a novel cascaded three-phase bridge inverter topology for the battery system used for the electric vehicle. Compared with traditional cascaded H-bridge inverters, the proposed multilevel inverter can achieve self-adaptive balance for three phases. The mathematical model of a cascaded three-phase bridge inverter is established in this paper. Based on the voltage and current equations of a multilevel inverter, a new modulation strategy named carrier phase-shifted-distributed pulse width modulation (CPSD-PWM) was developed, which is more suitable for cascaded three-phase bridge inverters. The harmonic analytic equations of carrier phase-shifted pulse width modulation (CPS-PWM) and CPSD-PWM are constructed by the double Fourier analysis method. Compared with the traditional PWM modulation strategy, the CPSD-PWM can reduce the output harmonics and improve the balance of the three-phase output, which can realize the three-phase adaptive balance in the cascaded three-phase bridge inverter. This paper develops a cascaded three-phase bridge multilevel power converter system based on the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control strategy. The voltage and frequency of inverter output can be accurately controlled in both island mode and grid-connected mode through active power-frequency regulation and reactive power–voltage regulation, and the stability of primary frequency regulation for the multilevel microgrid inverter can be improved by collaborative optimization of virtual inertia and virtual damping. This paper studies the THD and AC losses on the DC cables of offshore wind farm-based multi-terminal HVDC systems when they extract and deliver power from and to more than one connection point. In the paper, the study of a full system PLECS + Simulink model with two branches, including a wind resource, a wind turbine, a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG), a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) rectifier, a Single Active Bridge (SAB) DC–DC converter, an Input Parallel Output Series (IPOS) DC–DC converter, HVDC cables, and a simplified onshore system, is presented. It focuses on the investigation of the output ripple content of multiple DC–DC converters on DC cables under different wind conditions with different voltage and power ratings. The importance of the study is providing a general understanding of the operation of the innovative offshore wind farm-based DC system, as well as the interaction between different DC–DC converters and their influence on cable ripple content under different situations. The phase circulating current (PCC) of the parallel three-phase inverter systems dramatically affects the power quality and conversion efficiency of the power grid. In this paper, a composite suppression strategy is proposed to solve the PCC issue by using the sliding mode control (SMC) approach and improved virtual impedance droop control. Taking the commonly used 2-group parallel three-phase inverter as an example, an inter- and intra-classification model is established by analyzing the sources of PCC. In order to suppress the inter-PCC, the traditional virtual impedance droop control is given, following the improved substitute by combining SMC. And the variables of the bus voltage, Q-U loop, P-f loop, and the virtual-induced reactance are also introduced for the robust control of the impedance droop. On the other side, a SMC-based suppression approach is designed to solve the issue of the intra-PCC. Its idea is to introduce a regulation factor for the space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) so that the zero-sequence voltage can be eliminated and the influence of the intra-PCC can be relieved. Nowadays, transformer-less photovoltaic (PV) multi-level inverters (MLIs) are commonly employed in both industrial and residential settings. This structure has attracted increased attention due to its unique advantages, such as higher efficiency, lower cost and size, better waveform quality, and inherent fault tolerance. However, due to the removal of the transformer, the common mode voltage (CMV) becomes one of the crucial issues in transformer-less PV MLIs. The high-frequency variation in CMV results in a leakage current that deteriorates the line current quality, increases the PV power system losses, leads to severe electromagnetic emissions (EMI), reduces the PV array lifespan, and causes personal safety problems. In this regard, this paper presents a review of the existing and recent research on modulation techniques based on space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWMs) that overcome this issue in transformer-less three-level NPC-MLIs (3L-NPC-MLIs). The reduced CMV-SVPWM (RCMV-SVPWM) can be mainly categorized as an RCMV-SVPWM based on the vector type, based on virtual vectors, and based on the two-level SVPWM (2L-SVPWM). Their features and their limitations in terms of several main criteria are discussed. In the final section of this paper, some challenges and future trends for this research area are projected. Inverter-based systems encounter significant challenges in mitigating common-mode voltage (CMV) and minimizing inverter losses. Despite various space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) techniques proposed to address these issues, a comprehensive comparative analysis has been lacking. This paper addresses this gap through an experimental and simulation-based evaluation of nine SVPWM techniques. A new discontinuous SVPWM technique, DSVPWM-K4, is introduced, which involves reversing the use of the two zero vectors in DSVPWM-K3. DSVPWM-K3 delivers superior performance in terms of CMV reduction, total harmonic distortion (THD), and inverter losses across all modulation indices (MI = 1, 0.75, 0.5, and 0.25), making it the most effective overall. Although DSVPWM-K4 is a novel approach, it ranks second in effectiveness. The RSPWM technique achieves the lowest CMV with a zero peak-to-peak value but is most effective at lower modulation indices (0.25 and 0.5) due to higher harmonic distortion at higher modulation indices. AZSPWM performs optimally at higher modulation indices, providing a 66.66% reduction in CMV compared to continuous SVPWM and significantly lower THD compared to RSPWM. Introduction. In the contemporary world, alternative electrical energy has become an integral part of our daily existence, with the majority of our electrical materials, electronic devices, and industrial equipment relying on this energy source. Consequently, ensuring the quality of the electrical signal obtained is of paramount importance in the process of converting and distributing electrical energy. The improvement of the output voltage inverter can be achieved through adjustments to the inverter structure or by refining the control strategy. The novelty of the presented research lies in an innovative approach that employs real-time modulation for efficient control over the reduction of harmonics, alongside managing the fundamental component. This approach is applicable to both bipolar and unipolar configurations, featuring quarter-wave and half-wave symmetries. Purpose. Employing this modulation strategy aims to enhance the durability of the switching components and enhance the voltage output of the inverter. Methods. The methodology is founded on a sine-sine modulation as its foundational model. It constitutes an inventive pulse width modulation technique in which a reference sinusoidal waveform, operating at the desired signal frequency, is compared to a modified carrier signal with an identical time period as the reference signal. Results. This paper introduces a broader and more comprehensive approach, alongside specific solutions, for the control and mitigation of harmonics in three phase voltage source inverters. Practical testing of distance relays under power swing conditions is becoming all the more essential. This is in view of the increasing use of power electronic apparatus due to penetration of renewable sources and/or FACTS controllers now-a-days. To perform such practical tests, a hardware platform emulating power system swing occurrences, as caused by electromechanical oscillation of alternators, is necessary. As a first step it is required to model the phenomenon before its implementation. In this paper an analytical small-signal model of the low-frequency electromechanical oscillations in a grid-connected alternator is presented. Off-line simulation-based validation for a Single Machine Infinite Bus (SMIB) system is done. To emulate an open-loop alternator, a prototype of a controlled grid synchronised VSI with AC-side reactor is developed and practically tested. A control scheme is proposed and implemented to emulate the active power swing phenomenon. Effects of machine inertia and initial power angle on the swing characteristics are investigated. In-process estimation of apparent impedances, as seen from the distance relay terminals downstream towards the grid, is done. Principle of estimating the apparent impedance during power swing is presented with corresponding experimental results. Both real-time and off-line simulation results are in close agreement with the experimental results thus establishing the accuracy of the model and the precision of the experiments. Soft switching reduces voltage and current stress during transitions, smoothing and quieting operations and reducing electromagnetic interference while also increasing efficiency and equipment lifespan. Circuit design, component selection, and switching frequency optimization affect power electronics soft switching. This paper proposes boost integrated half-bridge dual-output series resonant (BIHBDOSR) converter, a novel converter design and control method to increase series resonant converter performance by reducing storage element size, switch count, and switching losses. This methodology relies on soft-switching technologies like zero-voltage switching (ZVS) and zero-current switching (ZCS). These methods use class-D, class-E, series, parallel, and series–parallel resonant converter circuits to increase efficiency and minimize component stress. The proposed converter is ideal for constant voltage, constant power, and current-controlled loads with the output voltage being regulated by a closed-loop PI controller. The output voltages for two loads in the simulation depart from reference values. V01 changes from 14 to 20 V and V02 from 18 to 15 V at 300 ms owing to switching variances. The proposed converter utilizes gate driver circuits, resonant tank circuit, current sensor, FPGA board for closed-loop control, and current sensor for stability, ensuring converter stability. The proposed converter closed-loop control method modifies PWM signals to regulate both loads independently and ensure steady output voltage. Additionally, to validate the effectiveness of proposed converter, a 50-W driver circuit is designed, delivering two independent outputs of 20 W and 30 W. In the inverter circuit, the speed at which the MOSFET is impacted by the presence of a parasitic inductor within the printed circuit board (PCB) leads to a delay in the switching process. Furthermore, the parasitic inductor within the circuit can easily form an LC oscillation with the parasitic capacitor of the MOSFET. These two issues result in an inconsistency between the actual output of the MOSFET and the driving signal waveform, leading to distortion in the sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) waveform and an increase in total harmonic distortion (THD). It is a common practice to mitigate gate oscillation by introducing a resistor at the gate of the MOSFET. However, elevating the resistance leads to deceleration in the charging process of the MOSFET's parasitic capacitor, consequently causing an increase in the switching delay, and thereby increasing THD. Therefore, an effective strategy to reduce THD is proposed in this paper, while augmenting the gate resistance, computing the MOSFET switching delay, and applying corrective compensation. In this way, the inherent issues of the switch are addressed, resulting in inverter output waveforms that closely resemble sine waves and reduced THD. Through a combination of simulation and empirical experimentation, the efficacy of the proposed approach in significantly reducing THD in the inverter's output waveform has been empirically substantiated. The paper deals with the dynamics of a resistance spot welding system. At the core of this system is a transformer, which is powered on the primary side by a pulse-width modulated inverter and has a full-wave output rectifier on the secondary side that provides a direct welding current. The entire system is nonlinear, due to magnetic hysteresis and electronics. The electronics prevent the current from flowing in all parts of the welding transformer at separate time intervals during the voltage supply period; therefore, not all the parameters affect the dynamic of currents and voltages all the time so the system is also time-variant. To design a high-performance welding system and to predict the maximum possible welding current at a specific load, it is necessary to know the welding and primary currents. The leakage inductances of the system can reduce the maximum welding current significantly at higher frequencies and the same load. There are several methods to determine these currents, each with its drawbacks. Measurements are time-consuming, using professional software is expensive and requires time to learn and free open-source software has many limitations and does not guarantee the correctness of the results. The article presents a new, fourth option—a theoretical derivation of analytical expressions that facilitate straightforward and rapid calculation of the welding and primary currents of the resistance spot welding system with symmetrical secondary branches. The derivation of the mathematical expressions is based on the equivalent circuits that describe the system in different operating states. The authors present the multi‐physical field performances comparative research for a 30 kW, 30,000 r/min high‐speed permanent magnet motor (HSPMM) when the motor is powered by the sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) voltage inverter and sinusoidal voltage source, respectively. Firstly, electromagnetic performances including torque, voltage and current of the HSPMM with different driving methods are compared and analysed by the finite element method (FEM). Considering the effects of high operation frequency, power losses of the HSPMM with different driving methods under full‐load conditions are calculated and compared with the skin effect and the proximity effect considered for HSPMM winding copper loss estimation. Based on the above analysis, a prototype driven by the SPWM voltage inverter is manufactured, with its electromagnetic and thermal performances tested and verified. In addition, several influencing factors of the HSPMM rotor eddy current loss are studied, with their effects on the HSPMM under different driving methods further analysed and compared as well. A novel equivalent power supply method is proposed to effectively save the calculation time with a negligible error. Finally, in order to further improve the heat dissipation capacity of the HSPMM, a novel cooling method is intensively studied with its influencing factors further analysed. This paper introduces a unique zero‐current switching (ZCS) technique for low‐power dc–dc converters. In this paper, a single‐inductor dual‐input triple‐output converter is considered to apply this new technique, which can be generalized for converters with more inputs and outputs and high‐power and energy‐harvesting applications. The first input of this converter can be connected to any source that can produce energy, such as photovoltaic (PV) cells or thermoelectric generator (TEG), and the second input can be considered a battery. The proposed converter is implemented discretely, and a low‐power microcontroller whose power consumption is reduced by the software is employed to control the whole system. In the proposed ZCS method, the current sensor is not used, and only a simple voltage level detector is employed to detect the inductor voltage level in order to determine the optimal value of the inductor discharge duty cycle. This converter works in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and uses pulse width modulation (PWM) and the time‐multiplexing strategy (TMS). The AC battery utilizing second-life time batteries has gained great interest currently with the advantages of both power solutions and economic benefits. In this system, the power converters play a crucial role in the stable and effective operation of the system. This paper focused on the AC/DC stage with the chosen topology being the interleaved full bridge (IFB) converter due to its flexibility and the ability to increase the power rate of the system. For the sake of high-performance operation, various pulse width modulation (PWM) methods for this converter are analyzed. First, based on the theory of the traditional PWM methods for a full bridge inverter in combination with the interleaved technique, this paper proposed three interleaved PWM methods for the IFB converter. Secondly, the proposed methods are theoretically compared in terms of the output current, common-mode voltage, and power losses. In this paper, the Preisach model for magnetic hysteresis of grain-oriented silicon steel under PWM excitation is improved. First, an improved Preisach model for the magnetic hysteresis of grain-oriented silicon steel under PWM excitation is proposed. Second, the experimental platform for grain-oriented silicon steel sheets under PWM excitation is established. Finally, by comparative analysis, it is concluded that the error of the improved model is far less than that of the classical model (the error here refers to the discrepancy between experimental results and theoretical model predictions). The improved model is 1.4% to 9% more accurate than the classical model. A more accurate model can provide more accurate material parameters for the calculation of the magnetic field in the transformer core, which is of great significance to the production and design of the transformer. To propel us toward a greener and more resilient future, it is imperative that we adopt renewable sources and implement innovative sustainable solutions in response to the escalating energy crisis. Thus, renewable energies have emerged as a viable solution to the global energy crisis, with photovoltaic energy being one of the prominent sources in this regard. This paper represents a significant step in the desired direction by focusing on detailed, comprehensive dynamic modeling and efficient control of photovoltaic (PV) systems as grid-connected energy sources. The ultimate goal is to enhance system reliability and ensure high power quality. The behavior of the suggested photovoltaic system is tested under varying sun radiation conditions. The PV system is complemented by a boost converter and a three-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) inverter, with MATLAB software employed for system investigation. This research paper enhances photovoltaic (PV) system performance through the integration of model-predictive control (MPC) with a high-gain DC–DC converter. It improves maximum power point tracking (MPPT) efficiency in response to the variability of solar energy by combining MPC with the traditional incremental conductance (IN-C) method. Additionally, the system incorporates a DC–AC converter for three-phase pulse width modulation, which is also controlled by predictive control technology supported by Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to further enhance performance. PSO was selected due to its capability to optimize complex systems and its proficiency in handling nonlinear functions and multiple variables, making it an ideal choice for improving MPC control performance. The recently proposed novel unidirectional multilevel rectifier, a three single-phase star-connected multilevel rectifier, has the characteristic of having a large number of DC-side capacitors and a complex capacitor voltage balancing control structure under conventional carrier-based phase-shift sine wave pulse-width modulation (SPWM). Hence, a space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) algorithm for the novel multilevel rectifier is proposed in this paper, which can quickly balance the capacitor voltage without an additional voltage balancing control structure. Firstly, it divides the space vectors of the rectifier, then it determines the two basis voltage vectors that synthesize the output reference voltage. After that, based on the analysis of the relationship between switching states and the charge–discharge of capacitors, the final action sequences of redundant vectors are determined according to the principle of keeping the capacitor charge–discharge time consistent. Thus, the capacitor voltages can be automatically balanced without an additional voltage balancing control structure. Finally, simulation and experimental results validated the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed SVPWM algorithm. The results also show improvements in current quality, capacitor voltage balance and the fluctuation of the neutral point voltage on the DC-link, allowing for further reduction in the overall volume and cost of the rectifier. The Lunar Gravity Compensation Facility (LGCF) is a critical component in ground tests for a crewed lunar roving vehicle (CLRV). The track-following servo subsystem's performance is of critical importance in the LGCF, as it needs to achieve high-precision tracking of the CLRV's fast, wide range of motion in the horizontal direction. The subsystem must also operate within various constraints, including those related to speed, acceleration, and position. These requirements introduce new challenges to both the design and control of the subsystem. To tackle these challenges, this paper employs a Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) vector control method based on Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) to achieve accurate speed tracking. Additionally, this paper presents an Explicit Model Predictive Control (EMPC) strategy for precise position servo control of the track-following system under multi-parameter constraints. The simulation model of the track-following servo subsystem is established based on the above methods. The simulation results demonstrate that the position tracking error of the gravity compensation system, constructed using the above method combined with EMPC control, is less than 0.2 m. The control performance of the EMPC is significantly better than those of the PI and LQI controllers. The influence of errors on the drawbar pull is within 12.5%, and its effect on the compensation force is negligible. In this paper, a new control scheme for buck converters was proposed. The buck converter utilizes the dual control loop to improve transient response and has the constant switching frequency. The control scheme is mainly as follows: (a) The switch-ON time is regulated by the constant frequency mechanism. (b) The switch-OFF time is regulated by the output voltage. The spec/features of the proposed converter are listed as: (1) The buck converter has an output of 1.0–2.5 V for the input of 3.0–3.6 V. The load current ranges from 100 mA to 500 mA. (2) The actual current sensor is not required. (3) The simulation results show that the recovery time is less than 1.6 μs during load changes. (4) The variation in switching frequency is smaller than 1.05% over the output range of 1.0–2.5 V. (5) This circuit can be fabricated in future by UMC 0.18 μm 1P6M CMOS processes. This study presents a pointer-driven controller for an instrument panel. The proposed pointer utilizes the permanent magnet (PM) stepping motor produced by the Japanese company NMB. This stepping motor is vibration-proof and tolerates noise jamming as well as wind and rain exposure. Moreover, it has no mechanical structures and is low cost. Most importantly, it features accurate positioning; therefore, it can be used to measure vehicle speed, engine speed, fuel capacity, and temperature. However, the PM stepping motor of the NMB pointer requires 10 degrees for each step, and this low resolution results in roll hesitation as its steps. The aim of the current paper was to solve the problems of the large angle size and low resolution associated with this stepping motor. Based on two-phase excitation, we propose driving the motor using pulse width modulation (PWM). Specifically, we divided each 10-degree step into 100 equal parts. In other words, every step is 0.1 degrees. The resolution of pointer rotation can be increased by 100-fold by using the approach proposed in this paper. Cardiac monitoring systems in Internet of Things (IoT) healthcare, reliant on limited battery and computational capacity, need efficient local processing and wireless transmission for comprehensive analysis. Due to the power-intensive wireless transmission in IoT devices, ECG signal compression is essential to minimize data transfer. This paper presents a real-time, low-complexity algorithm for compressing electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. The algorithm uses just nine arithmetic operations per ECG sample point, generating a hybrid Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal storable in a compact 4-bit resolution format. Despite its simplicity, it performs comparably to existing methods in terms of Percentage Root-Mean-Square Difference (PRD) and space-saving while significantly reducing complexity and maintaining robustness against signal noise. It achieves an average Bit Compression Ratio (BCR) of 4 and space savings of 90.4% for ECG signals in the MIT-BIH database, with a PRD of 0.33% and a Quality Score (QS) of 12. The reconstructed signal shows no adverse effects on QRS complex detection and heart rate variability, preserving both the signal amplitude and periodicity. This efficient method for transferring ECG data from wearable devices enables real-time cardiac activity monitoring with reduced data storage requirements. A three‐level neutral point clamped (3L‐NPC) voltage source inverter (VSI) topology can be advantageous in electric vehicles with a high DC‐link voltage and a high switching frequency. A bulky DC‐link capacitor is not an option; thus, the DC‐link capacitor's sizing considering the traction system characteristics is an important design step. This paper investigates how the DC‐link capacitor size of a 3L‐NPC VSI gets affected by the combination of the interdependent characteristics of an electric drive, such as its power factor, modulation index, current, and fundamental frequency, with the effects of the modulation methods. Five pulse width modulation (PWM) methods, of which three of them have an active neutral point potential control, are compared in terms of their neutral point potential (NPP) oscillations. Then, the size of the DC‐link capacitor is determined for each PWM method so that the NPP ripple is kept under desired limits at all operating conditions. It is shown that both the modulation technique and the electric machine characteristics influence the capacitor size. For example, electric machine design modifications can introduce more than a 30% reduction in capacitor size. This paper proposes an extended state observer (ESO)‐based second‐order sliding mode control (SMC) for dynamic voltage restorers (DVRs). Unlike the conventional first‐order SMC and some second‐order SMC (SOSMC) methods that suffer from chattering, the proposed control method can alleviate chattering and achieve finite‐time convergence. Chattering suppression (i.e. eliminating discontinuities) is achieved via continuous control input which is also used to generate the pulse width modulation signals. However, while removing the discontinuities in the control input, the performance of the control method is degraded when it is subjected to disturbances. Therefore, an active disturbance rejection (ADR) based on an ESO is proposed to enhance the performance. In addition, an advanced single‐phase phase‐locked loop (PLL) using linear observer and quasi‐type‐1 PLL is also proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through simulation and experimental results which are compared with the results of the existing SMC methods applied to DVR. This paper proposes the development of an active control system to control the power output of a low-power horizontal-axis wind turbine (HAWT) when operating at wind speeds above the rated wind speed. The system is composed of an active articulated vane (AAV) in charge of the orientation of the wind turbine, which is driven by an electric actuator that changes the angle of the AAV to maintain a constant power output. Compared with the passive power regulation systems most often used in low-power HAWTs, active systems allow for better control and, therefore, greater stability of the delivered power, which reduces the structural stresses and allows for controlled braking in any wind condition or during system failures. The control system was designed and simulated using MATLAB R2022b software, and then built and evaluated under laboratory conditions. For the control design, the transfer function (TF) between the pulse width modulation (PWM) and the AAV angle (θ) was determined via laboratory tests using MATLAB's PIDTurner tool. For the simulation, the relationship between the power output and the AAV angle was determined using the vector decomposition of the wind speed and wind rotor area. Wind speed step and ramp response tests were performed for proportional–integral–derivative (PID) control. The results obtained demonstrate the technical feasibility of this type of control, obtaining settling times (ts) of 6.7 s in the step response and 2.8 s in the ramp response. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article describes a 17-level switched-capacitor-based eight-times-boosting gain inverter. The inverter is made up of a DC power source, thirteen switches, three diodes, and three capacitors. The inverter produces seventeen steps during each cycle and crosses the zero line two times in one complete cycle. The proposed inverter has its polarity change mechanism; it is not necessary to use an H-bridge. Three self-balancing capacitors make up this construction. The capacitors automatically balance voltage by connecting in series/parallel to the input voltage source. Logic gates can generate gate pulses with the phase disposition pulse-width modulation technique, which helps to preserve capacitor voltage balance at the same time. The proposed structure was compared to recent papers, analyzing factors including voltage gain, DC sources, semiconductor devices, cost function, and TSV. The proposed configuration offers cost effectiveness and fewer semiconductor devices for providing a 17-level output with sufficient voltage gain. Also, to reduce the capacitor inrush current, soft charging is used. Additionally, the proposed structure's power losses were examined, confirming its efficiency. Finally, an experimental prototype was tested to analyze and validate the suggested structure's performance under various situations. In this paper, a sample voltage dead-beat control based on differentiative voltage prediction (DVP) and switching-cycle extension (SCE) is presented to achieve optimal transient response for DC-DC converters under discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) operation. Firstly, to improve load transient response, a DVP method is proposed to estimate the load. With the estimated load, the controller realizes load current feedforward and thus improves the transient response with a wide load range. Secondly, an SCE strategy is proposed to enlarge the output current range and output voltage slew rate, both of which have limited value under conventional digital pulse width modulation (DPWM). When the output current reaches the limited value, the proposed strategy increases the switching cycle to enlarge the current range without losing DCM operation. The traction converter modulation generates switching-frequencies current harmonics. The trapped filters can eliminate these switching harmonics, reducing total inductance and filter size. Nonetheless, in comparison with the typical inductor-capacitor-inductor (LCL) filter, the trap inductor needs a larger magnetic core. Moreover, the trapped filter has not been analyzed in the traction systems. This paper proposes a magnetic integrated inductor-trap-inductor (LLCL) filter to decrease the filter's size and investigate its application in traction converters. In fact, the application range of this filter is quite broad, and it can be used in various electrical power systems, including industrial power systems, renewable energy systems, transportation systems, and building power systems. The LC-trap may be formed by connecting the equivalent trap inductor, introduced through the magnetic coupling between inverter-side and grid-side inductors, in series with the filter capacitor. Furthermore, for H-bridge unipolar pulse width modulation (PWM) traction converters, the prominent switching harmonics are concentrated at the double switching frequencies. Therefore, the stability zone is expanded by moving the resonance above the Nyquist frequency. The presented filter's features and design are thoroughly analyzed. The proposed method is finally validated by the MATLAB/Simulink simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) experimental results. Compared to the discrete windings, the integrated ones can save two magnetic cores. This study presents an advanced Model Predictive Control (MPC) technique designed to mitigate Circulating Current (CC) in HVDC systems equipped with Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC). This MPC strategy eliminates the need for traditional PI regulators and pulse width modulation, improving system dynamics and control accuracy. It excels in managing output currents and mitigating voltage fluctuations in sub-module capacitors. Moreover, the paper introduces a novel communication-free Fault Ride-Through (FRT) method that makes a DC chopper redundant, enabling rapid recovery from disturbances. To reduce the computational burden of standard MPC algorithms, an aggregated MMC model is proposed, significantly decreasing the computational complexity. Simulation studies validate the new MPC algorithm's capability in regulating AC side current, reducing CC, and ensuring capacitor voltage stability under varying conditions. The findings indicate that the proposed MPC controller outperforms traditional PI and PR-based methods, offering enhanced dynamic response, decreased steady-state error, and lowered converter losses, which contribute to smoother DC link voltages. This paper aims to propose a new sizing approach to reduce the footprint and optimize the performance of an LCL filter implemented in photovoltaic systems using grid-connected single-phase microinverters. In particular, the analysis is carried out on a single-phase full-bridge inverter, assuming the following two conditions: (1) a unit power factor at the connection point between the AC grid and the LCL filter; (2) a control circuit based on unipolar sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM). In particular, the ripple and harmonics of the LCL filter input current and the current injected into the grid are analyzed. The results of the Simulink simulation and the experimental tests carried out confirm that it is possible to considerably reduce filter volume by optimizing each passive component compared with what is already available in the literature while guaranteeing excellent filtering performance. Specifically, the inductance values were reduced by almost 40% and the capacitor value by almost 100%. The main applications of this new design methodology are for use in single-phase microinverters connected to the grid and for research purposes in power electronics and optimization. Among different types of transformerless photovoltaic inverters, multi‐level inverters based on switched‐capacitors (SC) are the burning topic of recent decades due to their potential advantages, such as, single source requirement, voltage boosting capability, and high power density. However, for a seven level output voltage, a conventional SC based inverter architecture uses more than two units of SC, a large amount of power switches, which then lead to capacitor voltage balancing problems. This paper presents a seven‐level switched‐capacitor transformerless inverter (SCTI), which is structured with only two SC units, ten power switches, and a single DC source. The proposed SCTI ensures voltage boosting capability, self‐voltage balancing, and low power semiconductor losses. Apart from these, a modified sinusoidal pulse width modulation (MSPWM) is also proposed in this work, which guarantees better thermal performance and low inverter output voltage THD for the proposed SCTI. The proposed SCTI along with the MSPWM is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink and PLECS computer simulation environments. This research paper introduces a new topology for multilevel inverters, emphasizing the reduction of harmonic distortion and the optimization of the component count. The complexity of an inverter is determined by the number of power switches, which is significantly reduced in the presented topology, as fewer switches require fewer driver circuits. In this proposed topology, a new single-phase generalized multilevel inverter is analyzed with an equal magnitude of voltage supply. A 9-level, 11-level, or 13-level symmetrical inverter with RL load is analyzed in MATLAB/Simulink 2019b and then experimentally validated using the dSPACE-1103 controller. The experimental verification of the load voltage and current with different modulation indices is also presented. The analysis of the proposed topology concludes that the total required number of components is lower than that necessary for the classical inverter topologies, as well as for some new proposed multilevel inverters that are also compared with the proposed topology in terms of gate driver circuits, power switches, and DC sources, which thereby enhances the goodness of the proposed topology. Nonlinear loads, crucial components of power system grids, pose a challenge due to harmonics injection. This work tackles this issue with a novel modified green plug–switched filter compensation scheme using fuzzy logic controllers. This innovative scheme presented in this paper utilizes dual action pulse width modulation to ensure switching functions from harmonics reduction and capacitive compensation for inrush nonlinear-type AC loads. The scheme's multi-loop regulations and online switching effectively handle dynamic-type slow-acting inrush, motorized- and other rectifier-type nonlinear loads, enhancing the power factor, power quality at source and load buses, and reducing the total harmonics distortion at the key source and sensitive nonlinear load buses. A simulation model in the MATLAB/SIMULINK-2023b software environment demonstrates the efficiency of the proposed FACTS technique. The modulated dual mode switched filter-capacitive compensation scheme controlled by a fuzzy logic controller ensures less harmonics distortion and improved voltage stabilization. The results show that voltage, current, active power, reactive power, power factor regulation, and effective energy utilization are achievable with the designed Flexible AC Transmission System-Modulated Filter Capacitor Compensation–Switched Filter Compensator (FACTS-MFCC-SFC). Multilevel inverter (MLI) gains more attraction compared to conventional inverter as it generates a staircase output voltage that mimics sine waves of desired output voltage. Cascaded H-bridge (CHB) topology is taken into consideration owing to several benefits over conventional inverters. Various levels of CHB (3 and 5 level) inverters are compared on diverse parameters. In this paper level shift sinusoidal pulse width modulation technique is considered resulting in reduced lower order harmonic (LOH) distortion and improve the quality of output current and voltage depending on the load. Since, the LOH are too dangerous for power electronic circuits. An attempt to shift all the LOH above 50th order depending on the modulation technique with analogy for selecting an appropriate switching frequency is highlighted. Due to the interaction of accumulated charges on the surface of a test mass with the surrounding electric and magnetic fields, the performance of inertial sensors is affected, necessitating charge management for the test mass. Discharge technology based on Ultraviolet LEDs is internationally recognized as the optimal solution for charge management. Precision driving of Ultraviolet LEDs is considered a key technology in charge management. This paper presents the driving control system used for Ultraviolet LEDs, achieving precision pulse-width-modulation-type current output with controllable pulse width and amplitude. The system generates the pulse-width-controllable pulse voltage signal via analog pulse-width modulation, and subsequently regulates the amplitude of the PWM signal through range switching. To convert the voltage into the pulse-width-modulation-type driving current, the improved Howland current source is employed. The test results demonstrate that the driving control system can output controllable current in the range of 0.01 mA to 10 mA, with a minimum step of 0.01 mA. The accuracy of the current reaches 1%, the stability within 1 h is better than 1%, and the load regulation is better than 2%. This paper addresses the active torque ripple compensation of a permanent magnet brushless direct-current motor (PMBLDC) drive with a new pulse width modulation (PWM) technique and advance angle method. Torque ripple is a well-known problem in BLDC motors which is produced by a discrepancy between the stator current and the back electromotive force (back-emf) waveforms. The advanced angle method proposed in this paper generates a maximum torque in the PM BLDC motor by decreasing the displacement between the phase voltage and phase current in proportion to the load. In vehicle-to-grid (V2G) applications, dual active bridge (DAB) converters are commonly used as the power interface because they offer high efficiency, galvanic isolation, and bidirectional power flow. For the DAB control strategy, phase-shift control is the mainstream, especially the single-phase-shift (SPS) method because of its ease of implementation. However, due to the phase shift, a DAB converter operated under this control method has relatively high backflow power, resulting in poor efficiency. The SPS control method has the drawback of high backflow power, especially at light loads. Thus, this paper proposes a new dual-mode control scheme to improve the light load efficiency of DAB converters by taking advantage of the pulse-width modulation (PWM) strategy in combination with the conventional SPS strategy for DAB converters based on load conditions. In other words, when the DAB converter operates under light load conditions, the PWM control strategy is used to avoid considerable backflow power. A prototype DAB converter with a power rating of 1 kW under a switching frequency of 100 kHz interfacing a DC bus (400 V) and a battery pack (50 V) is designed and implemented to verify the feasibility of this control strategy. A detailed analysis of the working principle and design parameters of the proposed converter is provided in this paper. Experimental results show that the highest efficiency of the proposed converter at light loads (10–200 W) was 96.2% for the forward power conversion and 97.3% for the backward power conversion. This paper proposed a fully integrated adaptive on-time (AOT) controlled buck converter with fast load transient. An adaptive on-time generator is presented to stabilize the output frequency. To enhance the light load efficiency, the converter could transfer from the pulse width modulation (PWM) to pulse skip modulation (PSM) as the load current decreases. The buck converter can switch between these two modulation modes adaptively with the assistance of a zero current detection circuit. Implemented in the TSMC 0.18 µm BCD (BiCMOS/DMOS) process, the proposed buck converter works with an input voltage ranging from 5.5 to 15 V, an output voltage ranging from 0.5 to 5 V, and an output load ranging up to 5 A. The experimental results show that based on the dual modulation adaptive on-time controlled mode, the transient recovery time from light to heavy load and from heavy load to light load is 13 µs and 15 µs, respectively.
