The 1925 paper "On quantum mechanics" by M. Born and P. Jordan, and the sequel "On quantum mechanics II" by M. Born, W. Heisenberg, and P. Jordan, developed Heisenberg's pioneering theory into the first complete formulation of quantum mechanics. The Born and Jordan paper is the subject of the present article. This paper introduced matrices to physicists. We discuss the original postulates of quantum mechanics, present the two-part discovery of the law of commutation, and clarify the origin of Heisenberg's equation. We show how the 1925 proof of energy conservation and Bohr's frequency condition served as the gold standard with which to measure the validity of the new quantum mechanics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Beginning early in the 20th century spectroscopists attributed the infrared band spectra emitted by diatomic molecules to quantum vibration and rotation modes of the molecules. Because of these relatively simple motions, band spectra offered a convenient first phenomenon to which to apply formulations of the new quantum mechanics in 1926. In his first paper, completed in Cambridge in May 1926, Oppenheimer presented a derivation of the frequencies and relative intensities of the observed spectral lines on the basis of Paul Dirac's new quantum commutator algebra. At the same time Lucy Mensing published a similar derivation utilizing matrix mechanics, as did Edwin Fues utilizing wave mechanics. Analyses of Oppenheimer's paper and of its historical and scientific contexts offer insights into the new quantum mechanics and its utilization and reception during this brief period of competing formalisms, and into the characteristic features of Oppenheimer's later style of research and publication. In July 1925 Heisenberg published a paper that ushered in the new era of quantum mechanics. This epoch-making paper is generally regarded as being difficult to follow, partly because Heisenberg provided few clues as to how he arrived at his results. We give details of the calculations of the type that Heisenberg might have performed. As an example we consider one of the anharmonic oscillator problems considered by Heisenberg, and use our reconstruction of his approach to solve it up to second order in perturbation theory. The results are precisely those obtained in standard quantum mechanics, and we suggest that a discussion of the approach, which is based on the direct calculation of transition frequencies and amplitudes, could usefully be included in undergraduate courses on quantum mechanics. The approach of current modern medicine towards human body system is solely molecular and cellular. Despite the great efforts, current medicine has not been successful enough, and spectrum of disorders has remained untreated. In a recent paper, we derived a new equation of state (EOS) for dense hydrogen/helium mixtures that covers the temperature–density domain from solar-type stars to brown dwarfs and gaseous planets. This EOS is based on the so-called additive volume law and thus does not take into account the interactions between the hydrogen and helium species. In the present paper, we go beyond these calculations by taking into account H/He interactions, derived from quantum molecular dynamics simulations. These interactions, which eventually lead to H/He phase separation, become important at low temperature and high density, in the domain of brown dwarfs and giant planets. Kolmogorov-Arnold-Moser (or KAM) theory was developed for conservative dynamical systems that are nearly integrable. Integrable systems in their phase space usually contain lots of invariant tori, and KAM theory establishes persistence results for such tori, which carry quasi-periodic motions. In the 21st century, various socio-economic crises have revealed that traditional economic science and (neo)classical thinking are unable to explain all the complexity of current economic problems, therefore the application of more complex and non-trivial economic concepts is gaining relevance. In addition to behavioral and evolutionary economic thinking, models of quantum economics have been developed in recent years, which allow solving economic problems, using mainly quantum thinking and the principles of quantum physics, in particular particle-wave dualism, the principle of uncertainty, the absence of a subject-object distinction, superposition and confusion. The article addresses 3 research questions (RQ). According to RQ1, the paper finds that quantum economics research is dominated by the following topics: quantum economics, quantum finance, quantum decision making, and quantum game theory. According to these four thematic descriptors, the article carries out a systematic modern review of scientific works in the period from 1978 to 2022 (if only 50 works were published in 1978-1999, then in 2000-2022 already 3430), with an emphasis on the most cited (Google Scholar) English-language journal articles. The analysis showed that articles on this topic are published mainly in journals of a non-economic profile, that the peaks of publication activity occur at times of powerful socio-economic upheavals (for example, the dot.com bubble, the substandard/financial crisis, the European debt crisis, the coronavirus pandemic, etc.). In accordance with RQ2, the article defines the key characteristics of the quantum economic model: in contrast to neoclassical economics (based on mechanistic classical physics, is rational and deterministic, with the help of the invisible hand of the market it leads to a stable equilibrium), the quantum approach, on the contrary, considers the economy as more complex, empirically oriented, uncertain, probabilistic, superpositional, as an archetypal example of a quantum social system that has its own versions of duality, measurement, and entanglement. According to RQ 3, the article determines to what extent quantum economics can update (neo)classical economics (integration of new ontological premises into economic thinking, more experimental and practical approach, connection between the concept of entanglement and sustainable development, management of financial risks based on the concept of quantum probability, rethinking the concept of randomness by quantum probability, introduction of quantum money, equilibrium using quantum games, etc.). On 17 October 1947, Niels Bohr was made a knight of the Order of the Elephant by the King of Denmark in view of his outstanding achievements and contributions to science. Bohr designed his own coat of arms that featured a pattern of Yin and Yang (Tai Chi symbol) to symbolize the wave–particle complementarity. However, Bohr's Yin-Yang diagram (YYD) was neither drawn based on the principles of quantum mechanics, nor did it originate from the traditional Taoist YYD. Scientists still have doubts about the legitimacy of using YYD as the icon of the wave–particle complementarity, because the YYD belonging to quantum mechanics itself is unknown so far. This paper reports the YYDs existing in quantum mechanics and justifies the role of YYD in the wave–particle duality by showing that any system, whether classical or quantum, has an ideal YYD as long as it satisfies Bohr's principle of complementarity (BPC). The deviation of a deformed YYD from the ideal YYD indicates the extent to which a real system satisfies BPC. This paper constructs the quantum YYD by the complex quantum trajectory of a particle tunneling via a step barrier, which displays the continuous transition between the wave behavior and the particle behavior. It appears that the YYD designed by Bohr in his coat of arms resembles the YYD generated by tunneling motion, not only in appearance but also in the governing equation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper reviews the nature of two quasiparticles, the Majorana fermion and vison, emergent in the Kitaev model, mainly from the theoretical point of view. We demonstrate how the fractionalization of a quantum spin into these two quasiparticles occurs and clarify their properties in the presence and absence of magnetic fields. In addition to discussions on the itinerant nature inherent to Majorana fermions, the quantum dynamics of visons induced by an applied magnetic field is revealed. Fractional quasiparticles manifest themselves in temperature evolutions of thermodynamic quantities, excitation spectra, and transport properties. The formulations for them and calculation results are shown in detail. Based on the results, we present how the signatures of fractional quasiparticles appear in physical quantities. The celebrated quantum no-cloning theorem establishes the impossibility of making a perfect copy of an unknown quantum state. The discovery of this important theorem for the field of quantum information is currently dated 1982. I show here that an article published in 1970 [J. L. Park, Found. Phys. 1, 23–33 (1970)] contained an explicit mathematical proof of the impossibility of cloning quantum states. This article forms part of a series on "openness," "non-linearity," and "embodiedhealth" in the post-physical, informational (virtual) era of society. This is vital given that the threats posed by advances in artificial intelligence call for a holistic, embodied approach. Typically, health is separated into different categories, for example, (psycho)mental health, biological/bodily health, genetic health, environmental health, or reproductive health. However, this separation only serves to undermine health; there can be no separation of health into subgroups (psychosomatics, for example). Embodied health contains no false divisions and relies on "optimism" as the key framing value. Optimism is only achieved through the mechanism/enabling condition of openness. Openness is vital to secure the embodied health for individuals and societies. Optimism demands that persons become active participants within their own lives and are not mere blank slates, painted in the colors of physical determinism (thus a move away from nihilism-which is the annihilation of freedom/autonomy/ quality). To build an account of embodied health, the following themes/aims are analyzed, built, and validated: (1) a modern re-interpretation and validation of German idealism (the crux of many legal-ethical systems) and Freud; (2) ascertaining the bounded rationality and conceptual semantics of openness (which underlies thermodynamics, psychosocial relations, individual autonomy, ethics, and as being a central constitutional governmental value for many regulatory systems); (3) the link between openness and societal/individual embodied health, freedom, and autonomy; (4) securing the role of individualism/ subjectivity in constituting openness; (5) the vital role of nonlinear dynamics in securing optimism and embodied health; (6) validation of arguments using the methodological scientific value of invariance (generalization value) by drawing evidence from (i) information and computer sciences, (ii) quantum theory, and (iii) bio-genetic evolutionary evidence; and (7) a validation and promotion of the inalienable role of theoretic philosophy in constituting embodied health, and how modern society denigrates embodied health, by misconstruing and undermining theoretics. Thus, this paper provides and defends an up-to-date non-physical account of embodied health by creating a psychophysical-biological-computational-philosophical construction. Thus, this paper also brings invaluable coherence to legal and ethical debates on points of technicality from the empirical sciences, demonstrating that each field is saying the same thing. The multi-particle Arnol'd cat is a generalization of the Hamiltonian system, both classical and quantum, whose period evolution operator is the renowned map that bears its name. It is obtained following the Joos–Zeh prescription for decoherence by adding a number of scattering particles in the configuration space of the cat. Quantization follows swiftly if the Hamiltonian approach, rather than the semiclassical approach, is adopted. The author has studied this system in a series of previous works, focusing on the problem of quantum–classical correspondence. In this paper, the dynamics of this system are tested by two related yet different indicators: the time autocorrelation function of the canonical position and the out-of-time correlator of position and momentum. In this paper, we present a new minimal mathematical conceptual approach to quantum mechanics using light polarization for lower secondary school students with the aim of bringing students closer to the so-called quantum mechanical way of thinking. We investigated how students think about some of the basic concepts and fundamental laws and we found that certain concepts are quite well-understandable in younger grades too. We studied the introduction of the so-called state circle, which can faithfully represent quantum mechanical formalism without involving students in abstract algebraic calculations. We then categorized and analyzed students' thoughts on the superposition principle and the lack of trajectory, finding that the concept of measurement and the lack of trajectory were problematic. We explored that younger students tend to hold gestalt-like mental models of quantum concepts, while at the same time being able to use visualizations correctly for reasoning in the quantum realm. Quantifying and comparing the scientific output of researchers has become critical for governments, funding agencies and universities. Comparison by reputation and direct assessment of contributions to the field is no longer possible, as the number of scientists increases and traditional definitions about scientific fields become blurred. The h-index is often used for comparing scientists, but has several well-documented shortcomings. In this paper, we introduce a new index for measuring and comparing the publication records of scientists: the pagerank-index (symbolised as π). The index uses a version of pagerank algorithm and the citation networks of papers in its computation, and is fundamentally different from the existing variants of h-index because it considers not only the number of citations but also the actual impact of each citation. We adapt two approaches to demonstrate the utility of the new index. Firstly, we use a simulation model of a community of authors, whereby we create various ‘groups’ of authors which are different from each other in inherent publication habits, to show that the pagerank-index is fairer than the existing indices in three distinct scenarios: (i) when authors try to ‘massage’ their index by publishing papers in low-quality outlets primarily to self-cite other papers (ii) when authors collaborate in large groups in order to obtain more authorships (iii) when authors spend most of their time in producing genuine but low quality publications that would massage their index. Secondly, we undertake two real world case studies: (i) the evolving author community of quantum game theory, as defined by Google Scholar (ii) a snapshot of the high energy physics (HEP) theory research community in arXiv. In both case studies, we find that the list of top authors vary very significantly when h-index and pagerank-index are used for comparison. We show that in both cases, authors who have collaborated in large groups and/or published less impactful papers tend to be comparatively favoured by the h-index, whereas the pagerank-index highlights authors who have made a relatively small number of definitive contributions, or written papers which served to highlight the link between diverse disciplines, or typically worked in smaller groups. Thus, we argue that the pagerank-index is an inherently fairer and more nuanced metric to quantify the publication records of scientists compared to existing measures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The maximal positive I I i I k i identifies the variables that co-vary the most in the population, whereas the minimal negative I I i I k i identifies synergistic clusters and the variables that differentiate-segregate the most in the population. Detailed state variables are reduced using the usual principle of maximum entropy (MaxEnt), whereas relaxation of the conjugate variables guarantees that the reduced equations are closed. Pursuing the work of Hu Kuo Ting and Te Sun Han, we show that information functions provide coordinates for binary variables and that they are analytically independent of the probability simplex for any set of finite variables. In this paper, we compare and contrast the classical versus quantum dynamics of a cosmological model based on the literature (Modified) Berthelot equation of state for the description of the dark sector of the universe. At the classical background level we identify a Minkowski-like and a de Sitter-like equilibrium epochs, with the latter occurring only beyond a certain threshold for a parameter in the equation of state; at the classical perturbed level we find that this same parameter realizes a duality in the adiabatic speed of sound between the two equilibrium epochs. The quantum evolution of this model is studied in the context of quantum geometrodynamics by solving analytically the Wheeler–DeWitt equation in the Born–Oppenheimer approximation for the scalar field potentials about the two equilibrium epochs. We identify the phenomenon of quantum decoherence to arise at the same threshold which constitutes the bifurcation between the two equilibrium epochs at the classical level. We comment on the quantum modified power spectrum focusing on some consequences dealing with the formation of astrophysical structures within the Press–Schechter framework. The paper analyzes the probability distribution of the occupancy numbers and the entropy of a system at the equilibrium composed by an arbitrary number of non-interacting bosons. The probability distribution is obtained through two approaches: one involves tracing out the environment from a bosonic eigenstate of the combined environment and system of interest (the empirical approach), while the other involves tracing out the environment from the mixed state of the combined environment and system of interest (the Bayesian approach). In the thermodynamic limit, the two coincide and are equal to the multinomial distribution. Furthermore, the paper proposes to identify the physical entropy of the bosonic system with the Shannon entropy of the occupancy numbers, fixing certain contradictions that arise in the classical analysis of thermodynamic entropy. Finally, by leveraging an information-theoretic inequality between the entropy of the multinomial distribution and the entropy of the multivariate hypergeometric distribution, Bayesianism of information theory and empiricism of statistical mechanics are integrated into a common "infomechanical" framework. With the regular development of the global epidemic, the global port shipping supply is tight. The problem of port congestion, soaring freight rates, and hard-to-find container space has emerged. This paper proposes a new joint berth-quay crane allocation model, namely E-B&QC, by taking the minimum of the time in the port of the ship, the cost of extra transportation distance for collector trucks in the land area of the port, and the cost of extra waiting time for ships. Then, the deficiencies of the sparrow search algorithm (SSA) are considered in solving the E-B&QC model, and the SSA is improved based on the three-dimensional Cat chaos mapping and quantum computing theory. Chaotic Quantum Sparrow Search Algorithm (CQSSA) is proposed, population individual coding rules are formulated, also E-B&QC model solving algorithm is established. Finally, a new berth-crane allocation optimization method, namely, E-B&QC-CQSSA, is proposed. Subsequently, the feasibility and superiority of the proposed allocation model and solution algorithm are tested according to the actual data of a small river port in the south and a medium-sized river port in the north. Simulation examples show that the E-B&QC model can develop different high-quality solutions for container ports under different working conditions, and the more complex the actual situation of the port, the more significant the optimization effect. Human intellectual restlessness originates from the need for knowledge of the modern world. The financial world is struggling to prototype accurate and fast data at low risk. The quantum approach to finance can support this desire. The goal of this paper is to provide a comprehensive review of the literature on how quantum computing can be used in finance. This research aims to expose an architecture of the state of the art in quantum finance. In terms of methodology, the PSALSAR framework was used to conduct this systematic literature review. The selection procedure followed the PRISMA guidelines and was applied in two databases (Web of Science and Scopus) without time limit. In total, 94 out of 1646 articles were included for data extraction and assessment of content evaluation covering the period 2001-2023. The current review of quantum finance literature is structured around the following themes: journals, research methods, tested data series, research topics in quantum finance, and future research directions. Within the financial sector, quantum computing is used in three main areas: simulation, optimization, and machine learning. These areas are supported by algorithms that have been created in recent years. At the beginning of this century, the advent of a second generation of 'quantum technologies' was announced together with its revolutionary potential to change existing information technologies. Despite the rapidly increasing paid to quantum technological development, there has been little attention paid to the specific characteristics or relationships within emerging quantum ecosystems. The aim of this study is to visualize the innovation structures and relationships that are emerging to shape these technological developments. As these structures typically depend on specific regional features, we have specifically focused on the Spanish case, as it is potentially indicative of the differences between European innovation models and other regional patterns. This objective was achieved by researching the funding network of the ecosystem, collected from a systematic review of various official sources and relevant previous literature. The resulting dataset was framed using the Innovation Ecosystem model and broken down through network analysis theory, as well as characterized through descriptive statistics. This framework identified the significant role that projects play in European scientific and technological innovation, which work as hubs to concentrate resources and incentive cooperation between actors. This is relevant because current work on quantum technologies neglects their importance, as their analysis focuses on the quantity of institutions rather than their relations. Moreover, this paper points out the prominence of public funding to drive quantum innovation, largely stemming from the European Commission. This is another key mechanism that is missed by the existing literature. Finally, it also sheds light on the recipients of this funding, who are mostly research centres. A set of forty hybrid functionals, combined with a 6-31++G(d,p) basis set and an IEFPCM solvent description, was applied to calculate the S 0 →S 1 excitation of the spironaphthopyran (SNP) photochromic compound. None of the hybrid functionals resulted in C spiro -O bond cleavage upon optimization of the S 1 excited state of the SNP, in contrast to the spiropyran BIPS which we studied earlier. At the same time, the deformations of the SNP during excitation turned out to be very small (in contrast to those for BIPS) which made it possible to calculate its vibronic absorption spectrum. The best agreement between the calculated and experimental absorption bands was demonstrated by the SOGGA11X functional. The main result of this work is confirmation of the vibration participation in the breaking of the C spiro -O bond in the S 1 excited state of the SNP. This assumption based on experimental data was previously put forward by other authors. In this paper, we review and compare the stochastic quantum mechanics of Nelson and the scale relativity theory of Nottale. We consider both nonrelativistic and relativistic frameworks and include the electromagnetic field. These theories propose a derivation of the Schrödinger and Klein–Gordon equations from microscopic processes. We show their formal equivalence. Specifically, we show that the real and imaginary parts of the complex Lorentz equation in Nottale's theory are equivalent to the Nelson equations, which are themselves equivalent to the Madelung and de Broglie hydrodynamical representations of the Schrödinger and Klein–Gordon equations, respectively. We discuss the different physical interpretations of the Nelson and Nottale theories and stress their strengths and weaknesses. We mention potential applications of these theories to dark matter. Recent developments in the quantization of general relativity theory provide a new perspective on matter and even the whole universe. Already, in 1922, Eddington suggested that a future quantum gravity theory had to be linked to Planck length. This is today the main view among many working with quantum gravity. Recently, it has been demonstrated how Planck length, the Planck time, can be extracted from gravity observations with no knowledge of G, ℏ, or even c. Rooted in this, both general relativity theory and multiple other gravity theories can be quantized and linked to the Planck scale. A revelation from this is that matter seems to be ticking at the reduced Compton frequency, where each tick can be seen as one bit, and one bit corresponds to a Planck mass event. This new speculative way of looking at gravity can also potentially tell us considerably about what quantum gravity computers are and what they potentially can do. We will conjecture that that all quantum gravity and quantum gravity computers are directly linked to the Planck scale and the Compton frequency in matter, something we will discuss in this paper. Quantum gravity computers, we will see, in many ways, are nature's own designed computers with enormous capacity to 3D "print" real time. So, somewhat speculatively, we suggest we live inside a gigantic quantum gravity computer known as the Hubble sphere, and we even are quantum gravity computers. Some time ago, Kobayashi et al. experimentally studied the so-called Lee–Naughton–Lebed's (LNL) angular effect in strong electric fields [Kobayashi, K.; Saito, M.; Omichi E.; Osada, T. Phys. Rev. Lett. 2006, 96, 126601]. They found that strong electric fields split the LNL conductivity maxima in an α -(ET)2-based organic conductor and hypothetically introduced the corresponding equation for conductivity. In this paper, for the first time, we suggest the quantum mechanical theory of the LNL angular oscillations in moderately strong electric fields. In particular, we demonstrate that the approximate theoretical formula obtained by us well describes the above mentioned experiments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper introduces a novel and efficient technique for quantum state estimation, coined as low-rank matrix-completion quantum state tomography for characterizing pure quantum states, as it requires only non-entangling bases and 2 n + 1 local Pauli operators. This significantly reduces the complexity of the process and increases the accuracy of the state estimation, as it eliminates the need for the entangling bases, which are experimentally difficult to implement on quantum devices. The required minimal post-processing, improved accuracy and efficacy of this matrix-completion-based method make it an ideal benchmarking tool for investigating the properties of quantum systems, enabling researchers to verify the accuracy of quantum devices, characterize their performance, and explore the underlying physics of quantum phenomena. Our numerical results demonstrate that this method outperforms contemporary techniques in its ability to accurately reconstruct multi-qubit quantum states on real quantum devices, making it an invaluable contribution to the field of quantum state characterization and an essential step toward the reliable deployment of intermediate- and large-scale quantum devices. This paper is a study of a generalization of the quantum Riemannian Hamiltonian evolution, previously analyzed by us, in the geometrization of quantum mechanical evolution in a Finsler geometry. We find results with dynamical equations governing the evolution of the trajectories defined by the expectation values of the position. The analysis appears to provide an underlying geometry described by a geodesic equation, with a connection form with a second term which is an essentially quantum effect. The paper attempts to develop a non-reductionistic and transdisciplinary view on human knowing in the light of the growing development of transdisciplinary practices and sciences. Medicine is one of the oldest; ecology and information science are some of the newer examples of radical transdisciplinarity. I discuss the lack of a recognized place and value of phenomenological knowledge in relation to the general mechanistic scientific ontology that still seems to be the only generally accepted background for the transdisciplinary areas to build on. Ontologically we cannot say much about reality except that it is very complex and dynamic, but still has structures and causal relations of a certain stability, which can be modelled mathematically. We further have to admit that there are aspects of reality that are beyond measuring. I suggest that the dualistic idea of transcendental and eternal mathematical natural laws and an algorithmic programme behind intelligence and language is rejected for its lack of ability to include the phenomenological and existential perspective of science and the practical knowledge beyond words. Instead I am promoting an epistemology, which sees science as only one aspect of our knowledge and sees human knowledge as going beyond language. An opening for the phenomenological aspect is then created in our modern scientistic and mechanistic metaphysics. I suggest a view of knowledge seen as self-organized signification systems based on metaphysical frameworks in social practice. The interpretation of sign in a systematized knowledge framework is actually where the medical sciences started in the classical Greek tradition of Hippocrates. This non-reductionistic framework promises to open towards a non-Cartesian transdisciplinary understanding of the basis for the generation and communication of knowledge in society without giving up what we have gained through the rigour and the methods of the sciences and the logic of philosophical analysis. This paper discovers new quantum physics, and gives solutions to puzzles of Wheeler's delayed choice and a particle's passing many slits simultaneously by exact quantum physics expressions. We further show new quantum control, new quantum oscillation, new quantum control experiments and new quantum oscillator being able to be installed in quantum communication network etc. We discover that the ability of a photon to hit electrons out in photoelectric effect is complementarily equivalent to the ability of wave of a photon to simultaneously pass through many slits in wave-particle duality. Objective criterion for distinguishing classical and quantum particles is found, and this paper gives applicable realm of quantum theories and new quantum physics expressions of wave-particle duality. All these studies above should be classified as classical and quantum particles, then classical particle and quantum particle wave cannot and can pass many slits, respectively. This paper discovers wave-particle duality's origin of displaying both wave property from plane wave part of the general Fourier expansion and particle property from the general Fourier expansion coefficients with the particle's global property and spins etc. We give the superposition state representation of wave-particle duality, further find the collapse of the duality superposition state to wave or particle state. The collapsed wave or particle state is related to the measure of wave or particle property. Then, we explain why sometimes it's a wave or a particle. In this paper, we introduce a new partial order called CS partial order, which is based on the core partial order and star partial order. We give some characteristics of CS partial order by using polar decomposition. Then we apply the polar-like decomposition to introduce another new partial order called WC (weak CS) partial order, which is an extension of the CS partial order. We illustrate the relationships of the two partial orders with some well-known partial orders, such as minus, L¨owner, GL, CL partial order. What is striking about de Broglie's foundational work on wave–particle dualism is the role played by pseudo-Riemannian geometry in his early thinking. While exploring a fully covariant description of the Klein–Gordon equation, he was led to the revolutionary idea that a variable rest mass was essential. DeWitt later explained that in order to obtain a covariant quantum Hamiltonian, one must supplement the classical Hamiltonian with an additional energy ℏ 2 Q from which the quantum potential emerges, a potential that Berry has recently shown also arises in classical wave optics. In this paper, we show how these ideas emerge from an essentially geometric structure in which the information normally carried by the wave function is contained within the algebraic description of the geometry itself, within an element of a minimal left ideal. We establish the fundamental importance of conformal symmetry, in which rescaling of the rest mass plays a vital role. In this paper, we discuss quantum formalisms that do not use the axiom of choice. We also consider the fundamental problem that addresses the (in)correctness of having the complex numbers as the base field for Hilbert spaces in the København interpretation of quantum theory, and propose a new approach to this problem (based on the Lefschetz principle). Quantum obfuscation is one of the important primitives in quantum cryptography that can be used to enhance the security of various quantum cryptographic schemes. The research on quantum obfuscation focuses mainly on the obfuscatability of quantum functions. As a primary quantum function, the quantum power function has led to the development of quantum obfuscation because it is applicable to construct new obfuscation applications such as quantum encryption schemes. However, the previous definition of quantum power functions is constrained and cannot be beneficial to the further construction of other quantum functions. Thus, it is essential to extend the definition of the basic quantum power function in a more general manner. In this paper, we provide a formal definition of two quantum power functions called generalized quantum power functions with coefficients, each of which is characterized by a leading coefficient and an exponent that corresponds to either a quantum or classical state, indicating the generality. The first is the quantum power function with a leading coefficient, and the second is the quantum n-th power function, which are both fundamental components of quantum polynomial functions. In addition, obfuscation schemes for the functions are constructed by quantum teleportation and quantum superdense coding, and demonstrations of their obfuscatability are also provided in this paper. This work establishes the fundamental basis for constructing more quantum functions that can be utilized for quantum obfuscation, therefore contributing to the theory of quantum obfuscation. Biological systems have been shown to have quantum-like behaviors by applying the adaptive dynamics view on their interaction networks. In particular, in the process of lactose–glucose metabolism, cells generate probabilistic interference patterns similarly to photons in the two-slit experiment. Such quantum-like interference patterns can be found in biological data, on all scales, from proteins to cognitive, ecological, and social systems. The adaptive dynamics approach covers both biological and physical phenomena, including the ones which are typically associated with quantum physics. We guess that the adaptive dynamics can be used for the clarification of quantum foundations, and the present paper is the first step in this direction. We suggest the use of an algorithm for the numerical simulation of the behavior of a billiard ball-like particle passing through two slits by explicitly considering the influence of the two-slit environment (experimental context). Our simulation successfully mimics the interference pattern obtained experimentally in quantum physics. The interference of photons or electrons by two slits is known as a typical quantum mechanical effect. We do not claim that the adaptive dynamics can reproduce the whole body of quantum mechanics, but we hope that this numerical simulation example will stimulate further extensive studies in this direction—the representation of quantum physical phenomena in an adaptive dynamical framework. Even as we advance the frontiers of physics knowledge, our understanding of how this knowledge evolves remains at the descriptive levels of Popper and Kuhn. Using the American Physical Society (APS) publications data sets, we ask in this paper how new knowledge is built upon old knowledge. We do so by constructing year-to-year bibliographic coupling networks, and identify in them validated communities that represent different research fields. We then visualize their evolutionary relationships in the form of alluvial diagrams, and show how they remain intact through APS journal splits. Quantitatively, we see that most fields undergo weak Popperian mixing, and it is rare for a field to remain isolated/undergo strong mixing. The sizes of fields obey a simple linear growth with recombination. We can also reliably predict the merging between two fields, but not for the considerably more complex splitting. Finally, we report a case study of two fields that underwent repeated merging and splitting around 1995, and how these Kuhnian events are correlated with breakthroughs on Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC), quantum teleportation, and slow light. This impact showed up quantitatively in the citations of the BEC field as a larger proportion of references from during and shortly after these events. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work, we demonstrate the use of two-photon polymerization direct laser writing in the production of continuously tuneable optical vortex beam (OV) generators in a liquid crystal (LC) layer sandwiched between glass substrates. Results are presented that show how an OV generator can be inscribed into a 20 μm-thick LC layer and how the order of the OV beam can be tuned with the application of a voltage. Importantly, only a single pair of electrodes is needed to tune the order of the vortex as the required phase profile is generated through the 3D structuring of the polymer network using the laser writing process. Following the design and fabrication of the LC-OV generator, a Mach–Zehnder interferometer is subsequently employed, in conjunction with polarizing optical microscopy, to characterize the devices to confirm the generation of OVs of different orders and to determine the corresponding chirality. The paper concludes by considering whether these LC-OV generators can function at a range of different operation wavelengths. The mechanism of selectivity in ion channels is still an open question in biology. Recent studies suggest that the selectivity filter may exhibit quantum coherence, which could help explain how ions are selected and conducted. However, environmental noise causes decoherence and loss of quantum effects. It is hoped that the effect of classical noise on ion channels can be modeled using the framework provided by quantum decoherence theory. In this paper, the behavior of the ion channel system was simulated using two models: the Spin–Boson model and the stochastic Hamiltonian model under classical noise. Additionally, using a different approach, the system's evolution was modeled as a two-level Spin–Boson model with tunneling, interacting with a bath of harmonic oscillators, based on decoherence theory. We investigated under what conditions the decoherence model approaches and deviates from the noise model. Specifically, we examined Gaussian noise and Ornstein-Uhlenbeck noise in our model. Gaussian noise shows a very good agreement with the decoherence model. By examining the results, it was found that the Spin–Boson model at a high hopping rate of potassium ions can simulate the behavior of the system in the classical noise approach for Gaussian noise. This paper utilizes the theory of quantum diffusion to analyze the electron probability and spreading width of a wavepacket on each layer in a two-dimensional (2D) coupled system with edge disorder, aiming to clarify the effects of edge disorder on the stability of the electron periodic oscillations in 2D coupled systems. Using coupled 2D square lattices with edge disorder as an example, we show that, the electron probability and wavepacket spreading width exhibit periodic oscillations and damped oscillations, respectively, before and after the wavepacket reaches the boundary. Furthermore, these electron oscillations exhibit strong resistance against disorder perturbation with a longer decay time in the regime of large disorder, due to the combined influences of ordered and disordered site energies in the central and edge regions. Finally, we numerically verified the universality of the results through bilayer graphene, demonstrating that this anomalous quantum oscillatory behavior is independent of lattice geometry. Our findings are helpful in designing relevant quantum devices and understanding the influence of edge disorder on the stability of electron periodic oscillations in 2D coupled systems.
