Superhydrophobic sponges have considerable potential for oil/water separation. Most of the methods used for superhydrophobic modification of sponges require toxic or harmful solvents, which have the drawbacks of hazardous to environment, expensive, and complex to utilize. Moreover, the hydrophobic layer on the surface of sponge is often easily destroyed. In this paper, a highly efficient superhydrophobic sponge with excellent reusability was developed by using a facile, simple and environmentally friendly dopamine biomimetic bonding method. Different types of sponges, such as melamine, polyethylene or polyurethane sponge wastes, were used as raw materials to prepare superhydrophobic sponges, which possess the advantages of inexpensive and abundant. The effects of different dopamine polymerization time and different hydrophobic agent dosage on the hydrophobicity and oil absorption capacity of melamine sponges were optimized. The study results showed that the water contact angle of the superhydrophobic sponge could reach 153° with excellent organic solvent absorption capacity of 165.9 g/g. Furthermore, the superhydrophobic sponge retained approximately 92.1% of its initial absorption capacity after 35 reutilization cycles. More importantly, the dopamine biomimetic bonding superhydrophobic modification method can be used for different types of sponges. Growth differentiation factor 11 (GDF11) is an important member of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily. As a secreted protein widely distributed in human body, it is associated with many physiological activities, including early embryonic and bone development, neural regulation, and maturation of tissues and organs such as retina and kidney. Recent studies have shown that GDF11 is closely related to aging and cardiovascular diseases, but its specific effects and mechanism are controversial. Some studies have drawn the conclusions that increased levels of GDF11 can reduce myocardial hypertrophy, alleviate inflammatory damage and protect the function of vascular endothelial cells. Meanwhile, some studies have reached the opposite conclusions. So the issue that whether GDF11 has a protective effect on cardiovascular diseases remains uncertain. Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate the feasibility and efficacy of one‐stage surgical resection of thoracic dumbbell tumors using a paravertebral approach and a micro‐tubular technique. Methods: Clinical data of thoracic dumbbell tumors resected using a paravertebral approach and a micro‐tubular technique (14 mm, non‐expandable type) in the Department of Neurosurgery at our hospital from July 2014 to July 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Tumors were found between T1 and T12 vertebrae. Operation time, blood loss, hospitalization, recovery of neurological function, complications, the Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score, and the visual analogue scale (VAS) score were used to evaluate clinical efficacy. Results: In all 31 cases, tumors were completely resected in one operation, with a mean blood loss of 53.23 ± 33.08 mL (20–150 mL) and a mean operation time of 95.16 ± 20.31 min (60–180 min). According to the Eden classification, there were four type II cases, 16 type III cases, and 11 type IV cases. The incidence of tumors in the lower thoracic segment (T8–T12) was 51.6% (16/31 cases), while the incidences in the upper thoracic segment (T1–T4) and middle segment (T5–T8) were 25.8% (8/31 cases) and 22.6% (7/31 cases), respectively. Pathological diagnoses were schwannoma (n = 22), gangliocytoma (n = 4), metastatic tumor (n = 2), neurofibroma (n = 1), granuloma (n = 1), and lipoma (n = 1). After surgery, symptoms were relieved in all patients. VAS and JOA scores significantly improved (P < 0.001). There was no pleural or lung injury, and there were no complications, such as cerebrospinal fluid leakage. The average follow‐up duration was 29 months (13–59 months), during which time no tumor recurrence or spinal instability occurred. The group of Eden type II tumors had lower JOA scores at 12 months postoperatively, longer operation times, and more estimated blood loss compared with other groups (P < 0.05). There were no significant influences on VAS scores at 12 months postoperatively and postoperative hospital stay from the different types of tumors. Conclusion: The paravertebral approach with a micro‐tubular technique is a safe and effective minimally invasive surgical approach for thoracic dumbbell tumors that allows one‐stage tumor resection using a single incision. Using this approach significantly reduces intraoperative blood loss and postoperative complications, shortens hospital stay, and reduces the rates of postoperative spinal instability. Background: Maturity-onset Diabetes of the Young type 5 (MODY5) is clinically heterogeneous, and the genetic examination is important to provide the accurate diagnosis. Identification of more cases will better understand the genotype-phenotype correlations of this disorder. Methods: We collected the clinical and biochemical data, using the whole-exome gene detection and multiplex ligation–dependent probe Amplification to detect the pathogenic gene variants. Results: The proband is a 39-year-old female, and presenting with symptoms including polyuria, polydipsia, and weight loss for 6 months. Her BMI was 17.6 kg/m2. Laboratory tests indicated hypokalemia (3.1 mmol/L), hypomagnesemia (0.4 mmol/L), and hypocalcemia (1.91 mmol/L). Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) was 13.7%, fasting C-peptide was 0.24 ng/mL (normal range: 0.3–3.73 ng/mL). Both glutamic acid decarboxylase and islet cell antibodies were negative. Abdominal magnetic resonance image showed the agenesis of the tail and body of the pancreas and the presence of disseminated cysts of the left kidney. Genetic examination displayed a de novo heterozygous deletion of the whole HNF-1Β gene (NM_000458.3). Three-year follow-up after the diagnosis showed that the patient has sustained hypomagnesemia and cannot maintain an appreciable increase in serum magnesium levels (0.52–0.61 mmol/L), although she was using the double-dose magnesium aspartate. Moreover, she cannot achieve good glucose control either. Conclusion: Our findings indicted that MODY is highly heterogeneous and patients with additional extrapancreatic clinical features and hypomagnesemia should be screened for MODY5. Purpose: PR loss in ER+/HER2- breast cancer indicates worse prognosis and insensitivity to anti-estrogen therapy, while the mechanisms of PR loss in ER+/HER2- breast cancer remain unrevealed.Methods: In this study, ER+/PR+/HER2- and ER+/PR-/HER2- breast cancer cases from TCGA were used. 1387 pathways were analyzed and used as variables for classifying the two groups with LASSO regression.Results: ER+/PR+/HER2- and ER+/PR-/HER2- breast cancer groups can be classified by a combination of 13 pathways using their activity score. Among the 13 pathways, those involving growth factors and ion-channel transporters were most significant in the distinction, followed by pathways involving immune modulation and cell metabolism. Two growth factor pathways, EGF and IGF-1, were deferentially regulated in ER+/PR+/HER2- and ER+/PR-/HER2- groups.Conclusions: In conclusion, this study indicated in ER+/HER2- breast cancers the various status of PR expression can be an indication of molecular variation, particularly for the growth factor pathway activation. A Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (BCH) is called quasi-reversible if there are consecutive elements a1, . . . , a2 in the defining set, where a1 is a negative integer and a2 is a positive integer. A matrix in band form presented in this article involves the use of the Newton identities and symmetric polynomial identities. This matrix is the coefficient matrix of a linear system. The solution to such a linear system is the coefficients of an error-locator polynomial for quasi-reversible BCH codes. Its computational complexity is significantly lower than BCH decoding using the linear system with coefficient matrix in column echelon form. This article also proposes a new partial syndrome matrix with radical locators and a lot of zeros. Such a matrix is still in band form. The expansion of its matrix determinant is exactly a radical-locator polynomial. Compared to the former radical-locator polynomials in the literature, the newly discovered radical-locator polynomial not only requires less storage memory but also results in computational benefits. Surprisingly, the resulting polynomials are much sparser than those for the narrow-sense BCH codes. Finally, a complete algebraic decoding algorithm for quasi-reversible BCH codes is provided. Objective: To derive and validate a predictive algorithm integrating clinical and laboratory parameters to stratify a full‐term neonate's risk level of having bacterial meningitis (BM). Methods: A multicentered dataset was categorized into derivation (689 full‐term neonates aged ≤28 days with a lumbar puncture [LP]) and external validation (383 neonates) datasets. A sequential algorithm with risk stratification for neonatal BM was constructed. Results: In the derivation dataset, 102 neonates had BM (14.8%). Using stepwise regression analysis, fever, infection source absence, neurological manifestation, C‐reactive protein (CRP), and procalcitonin were selected as optimal predictive sets for neonatal BM and introduced to a sequential algorithm. Based on the algorithm, 96.1% of BM cases (98 of 102) were identified, and 50.7% of the neonates (349 of 689) were classified as low risk. The algorithm's sensitivity and negative predictive value (NPV) in identifying neonates at low risk of BM were 96.2% (95% CI 91.7%–98.9%) and 98.9% (95% CI 97.6%–99.6%), respectively. In the validation dataset, sensitivity and NPV were 95.9% (95% CI 91.0%–100%) and 98.8% (95% CI 97.7%–100%). Study Question: Is there an association between hereditary thrombophilia in pregnant women and risk of recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL)?Summary Answer: Pregnant women with hereditary thrombophilia have an increased risk of RPL, especially for pregnant women with the G1691A mutation of the factor V Leiden (FVL) gene, the G20210A mutation of the prothrombin gene (PGM), and deficiency of protein S (PS).What Is Known Already: Prior studies have suggested that pregnant women with hereditary thrombophilia have a higher risk of RPL, however, the results are inconsistent; furthermore, a complete overview is missing. This lack of information is an obstacle to the risk assessment of RPL in pregnant women with hereditary thrombophilia. A comprehensive meta-analysis on the relation between hereditary thrombophilia and the risk of RPL is needed.Study Design, Size, Duration: A systematic review and meta-analysis was performed using observational studies published in English before 1 April 2020 to evaluate the relation between hereditary thrombophilia and risk of RPL.Participants/materials, Setting, Methods: Relevant studies were identified from PubMed, Web of Science, and EMBASE searches and complemented with perusal of bibliographies of retrieved articles. The exposure of interest was hereditary thrombophilia, including FVL mutation, PGM, deficiency of antithrombin (AT), deficiency of protein C (PC), and deficiency of PS. The overall risk estimates were pooled using random effects models. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were carried out to explore possible sources of heterogeneity and assess the robustness of the results.Main Results and the Role Of Chance: A total of 89 studies involving 30 254 individuals were included. Results showed that women with FVL mutation (odds ratio (OR): 2.44, 95% CI: 1.96-3.03), PGM (OR: 2.08, 95% CI: 1.61-2.68), or deficiency of PS (OR: 3.45, 95% CI: 1.15-10.35) had higher risks of developing RPL. Compared with the reference group, there was no observed relation between a deficiency in AT or PC and RPL (all P > 0.05). Heterogeneity in the risk estimates of RPL was partially explained by geographic region, definitions of RPL, types of RPL, and controlled confounders. Sensitivity analyses validated the robustness of the findings.Limitations, Reasons For Caution: Only 39 of the included studies controlled for one or more confounders, and the heterogeneity across all included studies was high. An efficient shape-stabilized phase change material (PEG/CLMS) with improved thermal properties was prepared using carbon layer-modified mesoporous silica (CLMS) as the supporter of polyethylene glycol (PEG). The CLMS was fabricated based on dopamine biomimetic modification, which is facile, environmentally friendly and easy to use. The physical properties and chemical compatibility of PEG/CLMS were studied, and the results show that after the SBA-15 was modified by carbon layer, the phase change enthalpy of PEG/CLMS-b increased from 112.0 J/g to 129.9 J/g and the thermal conductivity increased from 0.34 W/(m·K) to 0.43 W/(m·K). Moreover, the PEG/CLMS-b had favourable thermostability and thermal reliability. The carbon layer modification method reported in this paper has great potential in practical applications for thermal energy storage. The thermal property improvement method developed in this study could also be used for shape-stabilized phase change materials (ssPCMs) prepared using other carriers such as diatomite and palygorskite. The sustainable development of pension systems has been investigated from a financial perspective worldwide. However, the pension adequacy and its effect on the sustainability of a national pension system are still understudied. Using actual replacement rate and modified living standards replacement rate, this study empirically evaluates whether China's New Rural Pension Scheme (NRPS) grants enough livelihood protection for the rural residents in the Northwestern China. The results show that the NRPS fails to meet the basic needs of the elderly people (i.e., age of sixty years or older) or the middle-aged people (forty-five to fifty-nine years old), while it only provides limited protection for the young people (sixteen to forty-four years old). These findings suggest that the current NRPS benefits are very low in the Northwestern China and policy reforms should be further implemented to improve the sustainable development of the New Rural Pension Scheme. Patients with ulcerative colitis are typically suspected of an inflammatory flare based on suggestive symptoms of inflammation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of inflammation on colonic motility and rectal sensitivity from active to recovery of inflammation. Male rats were given drinking water with 5% dextran sulfate sodium for 7 days. Inflammation, intestinal motor and sensory functions were investigated weekly for 6 weeks. (1) The disease activity index score, fecal calprotectin and tumor necrosis factor alpha were increased from Day 0 to Day 7 (active inflammation) and then decreased gradually until recovery. (2) Distal colon transit was accelerated on Day 7, and then remained unchanged. Whole gut transit was delayed on Day 7 but accelerated from Day 14 to Day 42. (3) Rectal compliance was unaffected from Day 0 to Day 7, but decreased afterwards. (4) Rectal hypersensitivity was noted on Day 7 and persistent. (5) Plasma acetylcholine was decreased on Day 7 but increased from Day 14 to Day 42. Nerve growth factor was increased from Day 7 to Day 42. DSS-induced inflammation leads to visceral hypersensitivity that is sustained until the resolution of inflammation, probably mediated by NGF. Rectal compliance is reduced one week after the DSS-induced inflammation and the reduction is sustained until the resolution of inflammation. A novel penalty for the proportional hazards model under the interval-censored failure time data structure is discussed, with which the subject of variable selection is rarely studied. The penalty comes from an idea to approximate some information criterion, e.g., the BIC or AIC, and the core process is to smooth the ℓ0 norm. Compared with usual regularization methods, the proposed approach is free of heavily time-consuming hyperparameter tuning. The efficiency is further improved by fitting the model and selecting variables in one step. To achieve this, sieve likelihood is introduced, which simultaneously estimates the coefficients and baseline cumulative hazards function. Furthermore, it is shown that the three desired properties for penalties, i.e., continuity, sparsity, and unbiasedness, are all guaranteed. Numerical results show that the proposed sparse estimation method is of great accuracy and efficiency. One of the central goals in molecular evolutionary biology is to determine the sources of variation in the rate of sequence evolution among proteins. Gene expression level is widely accepted as the primary determinant of protein evolutionary rate, because it scales with the extent of selective constraints imposed on a protein, leading to the well-known negative correlation between expression level and protein evolutionary rate (the E–R anticorrelation). Selective constraints have been hypothesized to entail the maintenance of protein function, the avoidance of cytotoxicity caused by protein misfolding or nonspecific protein–protein interactions, or both. However, empirical tests evaluating the relative importance of these hypotheses remain scarce, likely due to the nontrivial difficulties in distinguishing the effect of a deleterious mutation on a protein's function versus its cytotoxicity. We realized that examining the sequence evolution of viral proteins could overcome this hurdle. It is because purifying selection against mutations in a viral protein that result in cytotoxicity per se is likely relaxed, whereas purifying selection against mutations that impair viral protein function persists. Multiple analyses of SARS-CoV-2 and nine other virus species revealed a complete absence of any E–R anticorrelation. As a control, the E–R anticorrelation does exist in human endogenous retroviruses where purifying selection against cytotoxicity is present. This work reports on optimizing the Indirect Indentation Method for measuring the elastic properties of brittle materials by indentation. The method employs a thin metallic film that protects the brittle material by absorbing the inelastic damage causes by the penetrating indenter. It applies hyperbolic identities to the Zhou-Prorok Model for thin film indentation that approach an asymptote as the indenter advances toward the film/substrate interface. The slope of this asymptote has been shown to be directly related to the elastic modulus of the brittle material being tested. A parameter study was conducted and revealed that the method can be optimized when the film Poisson's ratio is lower than the brittle material tested. This more directly transfers the indenter load to the substrate, enabling it to participate in the composite elastic response earlier in the indentation process. The result is an expanded range of fit of the experimental data to the models linear asymptote, providing more accurate elastic property measurements. Chromium was identified as an ideal film material due to its low Poisson's ratio, ductility and ability to be deposited onto most ceramics with a strong interface. Objective: To compare surgical outcomes between 27 and 25-gauge vitrectomy in proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) with tractional retinal detachment (TRD) Methods: This retrospective study was conducted to compare the intraoperative status, operation time, use of instruments, endotamponade substance, wound suture number, and iatrogenic break, between 27 and 25-gauge vitrectomy in 43 eyes afflicted by PDR with TRD. The post-surgical results, best-corrected visual acuity, intraocular pressure, recurrent vitreous haemorrhage, and re-operation rate were regularly followed up for 6 months. Results: Patients in the 25 and the 27-gauge groups did not differ significantly in terms of pre-surgical conditions, such as age, gender, pre-existing glaucoma, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and the severity of their TRD. The mean operation time was 56.7 minutes in the 27-gauge group and 63.7 minutes in the 25-gauge group (p = 0.94). There is significantly less use of micro forceps in the 27-gauge group (p = 0.004). No difference between micro scissors and chandelier usage were noted; neither was their difference in iatrogenic retinal breaks. Significantly fewer wound sutures were noted in the 27-gauge group (p < 0.001). The post-operative results revealed no significant difference in ocular hypertension, hypotony, BCVA improvement, recurrent vitreous haemorrhage and re-operation rate. Conclusions: The 27-gauge vitrectomy system offers comparable surgical outcomes in PDR with TRD. The 27-gauge vitrectomy system is suitable for complicated retinal surgery. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: In recent years, technological advancement has enabled the use of blended learning approaches, including flipped classrooms. Flipped classrooms promote higher-order knowledge application – a key component of nursing education. This systematic review aims to evaluate the empirical evidence and refereed literature pertaining to the development, application and effectiveness of flipped classrooms in reference to undergraduate nursing education. Methods: A PRISMA systematic review protocol was implemented to investigate the literature pertaining to the development, implementation and effectiveness of flipped classroom pedagogy in undergraduate nursing education. Seven databases (Scopus, PsycINFO, CINAHL, ERIC, MEDLINE, Cochrane, Web of Science) were utilised to survey the salient literature. Articles were appraised with respect to their level of evidence, the origin of study, study design, the aims/s of the study, and the key outcomes of the study. A qualitative synthesis was then conducted to summarise the study findings. Results: The initial search identified 1263 potentially relevant articles. After comprehensively reviewing the initial catchment using several analytical phases, 27 articles were considered for the final review, most of which were conducted in the USA and South Korea. A range of research designs were applied to measure or discuss the outcomes and design features of the flipped classroom pedagogy when applied to undergraduate nursing education. The review indicated that a common operational flipped classroom model involves three key components, namely pre-classroom activities, in-classroom activities and post-classroom activities, guided by two instructional system design principles. The review predominantly identified positive learning outcomes among undergraduate nursing students, after experiencing the flipped classroom, in terms of skills, knowledge and attitudes. However, a few studies reported contrasting findings, possibly due to the incompatibility of the flipped classroom pedagogy with the traditional learning culture. Conclusions: Current evidence in this systematic review suggests that incorporating the flipped classroom pedagogy could yield positive educational outcomes in undergraduate nursing education. Objective. Inflammation is one of the key mechanisms involved in functional impairment after stroke. Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) is an important inflammatory molecule in the body. The purpose of our study was to determine the correlation between ICAM-1 and the prognosis of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Methods. 286 AIS patients treated at Beijing Tiantan Hospital were continuously included in the study. The demographic data of the patients were collected, and the fasting blood within 24 hours of admission was collected to detect the clinical indicators. The functional prognosis was measured using the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) 3 months after stroke. The poor prognosis is defined as mRS ≥ 3. The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to determine the serum ICAM-1 levels. Results. The serum ICAM-1 levels of patients with poor prognosis were significantly higher than that of patients with good prognosis (144.2 ± 14.8 vs 117.5 ± 12.1 pg/ml). Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis showed that the sensitivity and specificity of serum ICAM-1 for predicting the prognosis of AIS were 74% and 76%, respectively. In logistic regression analysis, the serum ICAM-1 level is still an independent predictor of poor prognosis (odds ratio [OR]: 0.52; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.318-0.839). Conclusions. Surface air temperature (Ta), as an important climate variable, has been used in a wide range of fields such as ecology, hydrology, climatology, epidemiology, and environmental science. However, ground measurements are limited by poor spatial representation and inconsistency, while reanalysis and meteorological forcing datasets suffer from coarse spatial resolution and inaccuracy. Previous studies using satellite data have mainly estimated Ta under clear-sky conditions, or with limited temporal and spatial coverage. In this study, an all-sky daily mean Ta product at 1 km spatial resolution over mainland China for 2003-2019 has been generated mainly from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) products and the Global Land Data Assimilation System (GLDAS) dataset. Three Ta estimation models based on random forest were trained using ground measurements from 2384 stations for three different clear-sky and cloudy-sky conditions. The validation results showed that R2 and root mean square error (RMSE) values of the three models ranged from 0.984 to 0.986 and 1.342 K to 1.440 K, respectively. We examined the spatiotemporal patterns and land cover type dependences of model accuracy. The relative contributions of different features to models were also quantitatively analysed. Finally, values of our Ta product in 2010 were validated and compared with the China Land Data Assimilation System (CLDAS) dataset at 0.0625° spatial resolution, China Meteorological Forcing Data (CMFD) dataset at 0.1° spatial resolution and GLDAS dataset at 0.25° spatial resolution. The R2 and RMSE values of our product were 0.992 and 1.010 K, respectively, indicating this high-resolution satellite product has significantly higher accuracy. In summary, the all-sky daily mean Ta dataset developed in this study has achieved satisfactory accuracy and high spatial resolution simultaneously, which fills the current dataset gap in this field and plays an important role in the studies of climate change and hydrological cycle. With the rapid growth of Internet technology, the blockchain has been developed fast in recent years with the wide expansions in finance, medicine, public welfare, and other fields. At the same time, the blockchain technology has also attracted researchers' increasing attention, leading to a large number of scientific outputs that made significant contributions to blockchain research. However, few attempts can be found to investigate the development of blockchain based on the literature in this area. Therefore, this paper focuses on blockchain research by introducing bibliometric methods and comprehensively analyzes its status quo, emerging trends, and development path. Based on the above research, this paper draws two main conclusions. First, we made a comprehensive investigation of blockchain research in the past five years and then found that the main research directions in this area are Bitcoin, digital currency, and Fintech. Second, the development of blockchain research generally presents a trend of π-transformation based on the main path analysis. The above studies provide a brief view for beginners who want to learn blockchain research in a direct way and contribute to extend the theoretical foundation of blockchain research by giving a comprehensive bibliometric analysis. Background: Osteosarcoma is one of the most prevalent primary bone tumours in adolescents. Accumulating evidence shows that aberrant expression of the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) NEAT1 and microRNA-483 (miR-483) contribute to the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), invasion and metastasis of tumour cells. However, the potential regulatory effects of NEAT1 and miR-483 on the EMT of osteosarcoma remain elusive. Methods: The expression of the NEAT1, miR-483, signal transducer and activator of transcription-1 (STAT1), STAT3, and EMT-associated markers was measured using qRT-PCR or western blotting. NEAT1 overexpression or knockdown was induced by lentivirus-mediated transfection. A luciferase reporter assay was employed to confirm the association between NEAT1/miR-483 and miR-483/STAT3. RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) was also performed to verify the NEAT1 and miR-483 interaction. Wound healing and transwell assays were implemented to assess the migration and invasion of U2OS cells. Unilateral subcutaneous injection of U2OS into nude mice was performed to investigate tumour metastasis in vivo. Results: The expression of miR-483 was downregulated in both osteosarcoma cell lines and osteosarcoma tissues. The overexpression of miR-483 suppressed the migration, invasion, and expression of EMT-associated proteins in U2OS cells, while simultaneous overexpression of STAT3 partially relieved this suppression. Mechanistically, miR-483 specifically targeted the 3′ untranslated region (3′UTR) of STAT3 and repressed its expression. However, NEAT1 sponged miR-438, increased STAT3 expression, and repressed STAT1 expression, subsequently increasing the EMT of osteosarcoma cells. The knockdown of NEAT1 in transplanted U2OS cells impaired the liver and lung metastases of osteosarcoma in nude mice. Moreover, NEAT1 silencing inhibited the mesenchymal- epithelial transition (MET) of osteosarcoma at metastasis sites. Conclusions: The lncRNA NEAT1/miR-483/STAT3 axis plays a crucial role in regulating the metastasis of osteosarcoma and potentially represents one appealing therapeutic target for osteosarcoma treatment in the future. Background: Existing research has demonstrated links between airborne particulate matter and ulcerative colitis (UC) onset. Through Mendelian randomization, this study aims to further delineate the causal association between specific types of airborne particulates and UC. Methods: A two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis was undertaken to investigate the causality between airborne particulate matter and UC. Genetic datasets for both airborne particulates and UC were derived from accessible genome-wide association studies (GWAS). We employed a range of MR techniques, such as inverse variance weighted (IVW), weighted median, MR-Egger, and Wald Ratio, to validate the causality. In addition, sensitivity assessments were executed to ensure result reliability. Results: The data indicate a probable positive correlation between PM2.5 exposure and UC risk (OR: 3.6; 95% CI: [1.2–11.3]; P = 0.026). The statistical strength for causal determination via the IVW approach stood at 0.87, with a Type I error rate set at 0.025. Assessments using Cochran's Q test, MR-Egger intercept, MR-PRESSO, and leave-one-out sensitivity analyses did not identify notable heterogeneity, pleiotropy, or biases in the overall relationship between PM2.5 and UC. Furthermore, the MR-Steiger assessment indicated that PM2.5 exposure level determinants predominantly affect UC vulnerability. Background: Sedentary behavior may influence the respiratory health, but the joint effects of sedentary behavior and physical activity on pulmonary function remains poorly elucidated. We aimed to estimate the association between sedentary behavior and physical activity with pulmonary function. Methods: A total of 12,343 participants aged 12–79 years were analyzed from the U.S. NHANES 2007–2012. Participants were categorized into 16 groups according to the cross-tabulation of sedentary behavior time (0–4.0, 4.1–8.0, 8.1–12.0, and > 12.0 h/day) and moderate or vigorous physical activity (MVPA) (0, 1–149, 150–299, and ≥ 300 min/week). Generalized linear models were used to test the association of sedentary behavior and MVPA with pulmonary function. Results: Participants with sedentary behavior > 4.0 h/day were negatively related to FEV1 (forced expiratory volume in 1 s) (β ranging from -0.015 to -0.009, p < 0.05). Compared with the reference group (0 min of MVPA and > 12.0 h/day of sedentary behavior), the negative association of sedentary behavior ≤ 8.0 h/day with FEV1 may be reduced through appropriate MVPA (β ranging from 0.019 to 0.030, p < 0.05). For sedentary behavior > 8.0 h/day, even MVPA ≥ 300 min/week may not decrease the negative relationships. Similar results were also observed in FVC (forced vital capacity) (β ranging from 0.018 to 0.030, p < 0.05). In participants aged ≥ 45 years, the associations were more notable. Conclusion: This study indicated the sedentary behavior ≤ 4.0 h/day was a relatively healthy lifestyle for pulmonary function. The realization of a controllable transparent conducting system with selective light transparency is crucial for exploring many of the most intriguing effects in top‐illuminated optoelectronic devices. However, the performance is limited by insufficient electrical conductivity, low work function, and vulnerable interface of traditional transparent conducting materials, such as tin‐doped indium oxide. Here, it is reported that two‐dimensional (2D) titanium carbide (Ti3C2Tx) MXene film acts as an efficient transparent conducting electrode for the lead sulfide (PbS) colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) photodiode with controllable near infrared transmittance. The solution‐processed interface engineering of MXene and PbS layers remarkably reduces the interface defects of MXene/PbS CQDs and the carrier concentration in the PbS layer. The stable Ti3C2Tx/PbS CQDs photodiodes give rise to a high specific detectivity of 5.51 × 1012 cm W−1 Hz1/2, a large dynamic response range of 140 dB, and a large bandwidth of 0.76 MHz at 940 nm in the self‐powered state, ranking among the most exceptional in terms of comprehensive performance among reported PbS CQDs photodiodes. In contrast with the traditional photodiode technologies, this efficient and stable approach opens a new horizon to construct widely used infrared photodiodes with CQDs and MXenes. Drought stress limits agricultural productivity worldwide. Identifying and characterizing genetic components of drought stress-tolerance networks may improve crop resistance to drought stress. We show that the regulatory module formed by miR166 and its target gene, ATHB14-LIKE, functions in the regulation of drought tolerance in soybean (Glycine max). Drought stress represses the accumulation of miR166, leading to upregulation of its target genes. Optimal knockdown of miR166 in the stable transgenic line GmSTTM166 conferred drought tolerance without affecting yield. Expression of ABA signaling pathway genes was regulated by the miR166-mediated regulatory pathway, and ATHB14-LIKE directly activates some of these genes. There is a feedback regulation between ATHB14-LIKE and MIR166 genes, and ATHB14-LIKE inhibits MIR166 expression. These findings reveal that drought-triggered regulation of the miR166-mediated regulatory pathway increases plants drought resistance, providing new insights into drought stress regulatory network in soybean. A prolonged second stage of vaginal delivery increases the risk of shoulder dystocia, unnecessary episiotomies and cesarean sections. However, no standardized method has been proposed to tackle this issue. The effects of pelvic floor myofascial manipulation intervention during the second stage of labor in primiparas and its prognostic value in neonatal postpartum outcomes remain unknown. In the present study, a total of 60 primiparas who were expecting a vaginal delivery in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical College (Haikou, China) between October 2021 and January 2022 were selected. These women were randomly assigned to a control group (standard intrapartum care) or an experimental group (pelvic floor myofascial manipulation for 15-20 min during the second stage of labor along with standard intrapartum care) using a random number table, with 28 patients in each group. There was no significant difference in age, gestational time or body mass index between the two groups before delivery, indicating that the baseline data were comparable. The second stage of labor duration, forced breath-holding time and postpartum hemorrhage volume in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group. The pain visual analog scale scores, fatigue scores and neonatal Apgar scores in the experimental group were also significantly lower than those in the control group. The rate of episiotomy in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group, but the difference was not statistically significant. In conclusion, pelvic floor myofascial manipulation intervention during the second stage of labor for primiparas with vaginal delivery can reduce the duration of the second stage of labor, the amount of bleeding during labor and the pain during labor. Catalytic Pd decorated graphene oxide (Pd/GO) membrane with efficient catalytic activity was developed by in-situ reduction of Pd2+ on GO nanosheets followed by vacuum filtration. A high 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) reduction efficiency was achieved by using the Pd/GO catalytic membrane with layered structure because of evenly distribution of Pd nanoparticles (NPs) in the interlayer space of GO membrane, ensuring sufficient contact between 4-NP molecules and Pd NPs. The apparent kinetic rate constant and turnover frequency (TOF) reached to 138.4 s−1 and 813 h−1 under a continuous-flow system using 4000 mg/L of 4-NP at 20 °C. During a 300 min of continuous-flow catalysis, the 4-NP conversion was kept above 98% at 20 °C. Hydrogen, as a clean and pollution-free energy with high calorific value, is one of the best alternatives to fossil fuels. Hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), as a half reaction of electrochemical water splitting, has also received extensive attention. At present, the development of low-cost and high-performance hydrogen evolution catalysts still faces enormous challenges. In this work, we synthesized a series of RuNi/TiO 2 -oxMWCNT catalysts with different Ru and Ni ratio. After optimizing the composition and proportion, RuNi/TiO 2 -oxMWCNT with Ru:Ni=4:6 has the optimal hydrogen evolution performance. High HER performance of extremely low 14.8 mV overpotential at 10 mA·cm−2 and 38.4 mV·dec−1 Tafel slope with perfect stability is achieved, which is superior to most reported ruthenium-based catalysts and even commercial Pt/C. XPS and UPS indicates that there is a metal synergistic effect of Ru and Ni and a strong SMSI between Ru and TiO 2 in the RuNi/TiO 2 -oxMWCNT catalyst, which helps to improve hydrogen evolution performance. Dehazing based on deep learning neural networks (CNNs) has achieved remarkable results. However, the most existing dehazing CNNs perform well only on synthetic images and struggle with realistic hazy images. Moreover, training complex dehazing models is challenging due to the limited availability of realistic image datasets, leading to suboptimal performance. For this purpose, we develop a novel Image Prior Dehazing Network called IPDNet to tackle the challenge of dehazing realistic images with limited training data. The IPDNet comprises two sub-networks and a learnable fusion block. The global and local features are obtained by atmospheric scattering and direct mapping via two sub-networks with a sparse mechanism. And the learnable fusion block is settled to acquire the optimal fusion solution to improve the dehazing quality. The IPDNet offers several benefits: (1) a dual network with a learnable fusion block can effectively generate high-quality dehazed images at low computational cost; (2) an image preprocessing block based on dehazing prior can acquires the salient features of realistic hazy image, enhancing the dehazing performance on realistic hazy images; (3) the sub-network is designed by incorporating a feature attention (FA) block into the U-net structure, allowing flexible feature extraction on limited datasets. Extensive experiments on SOTS, NH-HAZE, and DENSE-HAZE datasets show that IPDNet outperforms other state-of-the-art methods on synthetic and realistic datasets. Specifically, our model achieved an improvement of approximately 0.84 dB in PSNR and 11.6% in SSIM, demonstrating its effectiveness in realistic scenarios, which contributes to improving traffic safety in adverse weather conditions. Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitan area is a significant carbon emission center. The region's early achievement of peak carbon targets is critical to the nation's achievement of peak carbon targets. In this paper, it is proposed to use different orders of grey models to classify into three scenarios. Based on three scenarios, the grey multivariate convolutional model with new information priority accumulation is adopted to predict carbon emissions in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and select the scenario suitable for local development. The results show that: (1) The Beijing region has already achieved peak carbon, the Tianjin region may not reach its peak carbon target by 2030, and the Hebei region is expected to reach its peak carbon target by 2030. (2) The high rate of carbon emission reduction scenario will greatly improve the air quality of Beijing. The low-speed growth carbon emission scenario is more in line with the future development of Tianjin city. The low-rate carbon reduction scenario is more in line with the synergistic governance of pollution reduction and carbon reduction in Hebei Province. (3) Beijing's population policy in the most recent years has been conducive to improving the local environment. Tianjin's medium-term population policy is more in line with the local area. Carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) composites have been widely used in the field of aerospace and transportation because of their excellent mechanical properties. However, excessive tool clogging commonly occurs because of low chip storage space, thereby leading to workpiece failure. The slot grinding experiments with and without ultrasonic vibration were performed by using abrasive tools with defined grain pattern to improve tool life. The mathematical model of the fibre cutting angle in ultrasonic vibration-assisted slot grinding (USG) was established. The influences of ultrasonic vibration on the grinding force, tool clogging and surface integrity of unidirectional CFPR were discussed quantitatively. Results show that the USG featured lower grinding force, shorter fibre chip and better surface integrity than the conventional slot grinding (CSG). In addition, the lowest and highest reduction rates of grinding forces are obtained by using the fibre orientation of 90° and 135°, respectively. The maximum fibre chip lengths produced in USG are approximately 78% and 66% lower than those in CSG with fibre orientations of 0° and 90°, respectively. Several adhesive chips are observed on the USG tool surface. The chip storage spaces in CSG are filled with adhesive chips. The USG has a positive influence on surface roughness and damage because of the changes in fibre cutting angle. Compared with CSG, the USG produces similar fibre fracture patterns, except at the fibre orientation of 0°. Furthermore, the surface defects in USG are lower than those in CSG. Background: Mounting evidence shows that microRNA-34a (miR-34a) is involved in cancer prognosis. Therefore, we summarize the predictive role of miR-34a for survival in patients with gastrointestinal cancers (GICs).Methods: All eligible studies were found by searching PubMed, Web of Science and EMBASE, and survival results were extracted. Then, the hazard ratio (HR) with the corresponding 95% confidence interval (CI) was calculated to evaluate the prognostic role of miR-34a in GICs. The association between miR-34a expression and clinicopathological characteristics was estimated by odds ratios (ORs) and 95% CIs.Results: A total of 20 studies were included in this meta-analysis. For overall survival (OS), lower miR-34a expression could probably predict poorer outcome in GICs, with a pooled HR of 1.86 (95% CI: 1.52-2.28, P < 0.01). For disease-free survival (DFS), progression-free survival (PFS), and recurrence-free survival (RFS), lower miR-34a expression was related to worse DFS/PFS/RFS with a pooled HR of 1.86 (95% CI: 1.31-2.63, P  <  0.01). A significant relation of differentiation/TNM stage/lymphatic metastasis and the expression level of miR-34a was identified.Conclusion: This meta-analysis revealed that lower miR-34a expression is significantly connected with worse OS and DFS/PFS/RFS in GIC patients. In addition, the miR-34a expression level is relatively lower in patients with lymph node metastasis than in patients without lymph node metastasis, and decreased miR-34a expression levels are linked to poor tumour differentiation and late TNM stage. Metal microspheres doping porous carbon (MMPC), which was prepared using in-situ pyrolysis reduction strategy, could enhance the thermal conductivity of shape-stabilized phase change material (ss-PCM) prepared by MMPC as the matrix. However, in previous studies that were reported, the preparation of MMPC needed to synthesize porous carbon by pyrolysis firstly, and then porous carbon adsorbed metal ions was pyrolyzed again to obtain MMPC, which was tedious and energy-prodigal. In this study, a one-step pyrolysis strategy was developed for the synthesis of MMPC through the pyrolyzation of wheat bran adsorbed copper ions, and the copper microspheres doping wheat bran biochar (CMS-WBB) was prepared. The CMS-WBB was taken as the supporter of stearic acid (SA) to synthesize the ss-PCM of SA/CMS-WBB. The study results about the thermal properties of SA/CMS-WBB demonstrated that the introduction of copper microspheres could not only improve the thermal conductivity of SA/CMS-WBB, but also could increase the SA loading amount of wheat bran biochar. More importantly, the CMS-WBB could be obtained by only one-step pyrolysis, which greatly simplified the preparation process and saved energy consumption. Furthermore, the raw material of wheat bran is a kind of agricultural waste, which is abundant, cheap and easy to obtain. Hence, the SA/CMS-WBB synthesized in this study had huge potentialities in thermal management applications, and a simplified method for improving the thermal properties of ss-PCMs was provided. Esophageal cancer (EC) is the eighth most prevalent cancer and the sixth leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. As an antiapoptotic and a proapoptotic protein, respectively, survivin and Bad play an important role in carcinogenesis of the most human cancers including EC. However, the regulatory relationships between them remain unclear. We sought to investigate the effects of survivin knockdown and overexpression on the expression of Bad gene, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis of esophageal carcinoma cell. The mRNA expression levels of survivin and Bad were determined in EC tissue samples. The knockdown and overexpression experiments were performed in ECA109 and KYSE450 cells via transfection with survivin overexpression and shRNA plasmids. A Bad overexpression experiment was conducted to confirm the biological effect on knockdown of survivin via modulating Bad expression. RT-qPCR and Western blot analysis were used to detect mRNA and protein expression, respectively. Cell cycle and apoptosis were analyzed by flow cytometry. The chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) was conducted to determine the binding sites of survivin on the promoter of Bad gene. By analyzing the mRNA expression of survivin and Bad in 40 ESCC patient specimens, we found that the positive expression rate of survivin in tumor tissues (88%, 35/40) was remarkably high, compared with the distal nontumor tissues (48%, 19/40, p < 0.01). On the other hand, the positive expression rate of Bad in tumor tissues (70%, 28/40) was remarkably low, compared with the distal nontumor tissues (95%, 38/40, p < 0.01). Overexpression of survivin decreases Bad mRNA and protein expression and promotes transformation of cell cycle to S phase. Conversely, knockdown of survivin increases Bad mRNA and protein expression and induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Bad overexpression inducing apoptosis of esophageal carcinoma cell shows the similar apoptotic effect with survivin knockdown. ChIP assays indicate that survivin directly binds to the Bad promoter region, diminishing the transcriptional activity of Bad. In the poultry slaughtering, accurate viscera positioning is essential to reduce the damage of internal organs. The introduction of machine vision technique can help to locate the viscera and can provide new direction for the poultry evisceration. After a midline abdominal incision of the poultry, the internal organs are taken out from the poultry that placed on the conveyor line by the parallel robot. Based on machine vision, the recognition accuracy of opened poultry viscera directly affects the level of visceral damage and residue caused by gripping manipulator. However, visceral positioning is often influenced by different noise in the abdominal cavity, such as mucous membranes and blood stains. Thus, the image segmentation of poultry viscera is a complex process, and it is challenging to remove the noise. In general, existing image segmentation methods can hardly segment visceral regions well. To strengthen the anti-noise ability, we proposed an improved region-based active contour method with the level-set formulation. This method combined with several operations of color space conversion and top-low-hat transformation, which could extract the viscera contour and precisely removed the noise. The results showed that recognition accuracy of the heart-liver area and fat area in the viscera are 98.98% and 99.75%, respectively, while the overall viscera for poultry was 98.96%. The exotic states X 0 , 1 (2900) with the quark flavor of c s u ¯ d ¯ are recently observed in the mass spectrum of D + K - in B - → D - D + K - by the LHCb collaboration. To explore the nature of X 0 , 1 (2900) , except for analyzing their masses and decay widths as usually did in literatures, the study of their production mechanism in B-meson weak decays would provide another important information. The amplitude of B - → D - X 0 , 1 is non-factorizable. We consider the final-state-interaction effects and calculate them via the rescattering mechanism. The measured branching fractions of B - → D - X 0 , 1 are revealed. It is manifested by B - → Λ c - Ξ c (′) 0 and Λ b 0 → P c + K - that the rescattering mechanism can result in the relatively large branching fractions. Hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs) mediate metabolic reprogramming in response to hypoxia. However, the role of HIFs in branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) metabolism remains unknown. Here we show that hypoxia upregulates mRNA and protein levels of the BCAA transporter LAT1 and the BCAA metabolic enzyme BCAT1, but not their paralogs LAT2-4 and BCAT2, in human glioblastoma (GBM) cell lines as well as primary GBM cells. Hypoxia-induced LAT1 protein upregulation is mediated by both HIF-1 and HIF-2 in GBM cells. Although both HIF-1α and HIF-2α directly bind to the hypoxia response element at the first intron of the human BCAT1 gene, HIF-1α is exclusively responsible for hypoxia-induced BCAT1 expression in GBM cells. Knockout of HIF-1α and HIF-2α significantly reduces glutamate labeling from BCAAs in GBM cells under hypoxia, which provides functional evidence for HIF-mediated reprogramming of BCAA metabolism. Genetic or pharmacological inhibition of BCAT1 inhibits GBM cell growth under hypoxia. Objectives. The purpose of this study was to identify the molecular mechanism and prognosis-related genes of Jianpi Jiedu decoction in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods. The gene expression data of hepatocellular carcinoma samples and normal tissue samples were downloaded from TCGA database, and the potential targets of drug composition of Jianpi Jiedu decoction were obtained from TCMSP database. The genes were screened out in order to obtain the expression of these target genes in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. The differential expression of target genes was analyzed by R software, and the genes related to prognosis were screened by univariate Cox regression analysis. Then, the LASSO model was constructed for risk assessment and survival analysis between different risk groups. At the same time, independent prognostic analysis, GSEA analysis, and prognostic analysis of single gene in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma were performed. Results. 174 compounds of traditional Chinese medicine were screened by TCMSP database, corresponding to 122 potential targets. 39 upregulated genes and 9 downregulated genes were screened out. A total of 20 candidate prognostic related genes were screened out by univariate Cox analysis, of which 12 prognostic genes were involved in the construction of the LASSO regression model. There was a significant difference in survival time between the high-risk group and low-risk group (p < 0.05). Among the genes related to prognosis, the expression levels of CCNB1, NQO1, NUF2, and CHEK1 were high in tumor tissues (p < 0.05). Survival analysis showed that the high expression levels of these four genes were significantly correlated with poor prognosis of HCC (p < 0.05). GSEA analysis showed that the main KEGG enrichment pathways were lysine degradation, folate carbon pool, citrate cycle, and transcription factors. Conclusions. In the study, we found that therapy target genes of Jianpi Jiedu decoction were mainly involved in metabolism and apoptosis in hepatocellular carcinoma, and there was a close relationship between the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma and the genes of CCNB1, NQO1, NUF2, and CHEK1. To analyze the impact of the added value of primary, secondary, and tertiary industry on public attention to air pollution in Handan, Xingtai, and Shijiazhuang, Baidu index is used to build the air pollution attention index. Taking the added value of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industry as the influencing factors, fractional grey multivariable convolution model is used to predict and analyze the public attention to air pollution in these three cities from 2020 to 2024. The results show that the secondary industry has the greatest impact on the public's attention to air pollution compared with the primary industry and the tertiary industry. And the added value of the secondary industry with faster increase will cause a faster increase in the public's air pollution attention from 2020 to 2024, especially in Handan. With the aging of the population and the extension of life expectancy, osteoporosis is becoming a global epidemic. Although there are several drugs used to treat osteoporosis in clinical practice, such as parathyroid hormone or bisphosphonates, they all have some serious side effects. Therefore, a safer drug is called for osteoporosis, especially for the prevention in the early stage of the disease, not only the treatment in the later stage. Panax notoginseng saponin (PNS), a traditional Chinese herb, has been used as anti-ischemic drug due to its function on improving vascular circulation. In order to verify whether Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) could be used to prevent osteoporosis, ovariectomy (OVX) was induced in female C57BL/C6J mice, followed by orally administration with 40 mg/kg/d, 80 mg/kg/d, and 160 mg/kg/d of three different dosages of PNS for 9 weeks. Serum biochemical analysis, micro-CT, histological evaluation, and immunostaining of markers of osteogenesis and angiogenesis were performed in the sham, osteoporotic (OVX), and treatment (OVX+PNS) groups. Micro-CT and histological evaluation showed that compared to sham group, the bone mass of OVX group reduced significantly, while it was significantly restored in the moderate-dose PNS (40 mg/kg and 80 mg/kg) treatment groups. The expression of CD31 and osteocalcin (OCN) in the bone tissue of treatment group also increased, suggesting that PNS activated osteogenesis and angiogenesis, which subsequently increased the bone mass. These results confirmed the potential function of PNS on the prevention of osteoporosis. However, in the high dose of PNS (160 mg/kg) group, the antiosteoportic effect had been eliminated, which also suggested the importance of proper dose of PNS for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Background: Ontologies house various kinds of domain knowledge in formal structures, primarily in the form of concepts and the associative relationships between them. Ontologies have become integral components of many health information processing environments. Hence, quality assurance of the conceptual content of any ontology is critical. Relationships are foundational to the definition of concepts. Missing relationship errors (i.e., unintended omissions of important definitional relationships) can have a deleterious effect on the quality of an ontology. An abstraction network is a structure that overlays an ontology and provides an alternate, summarization view of its contents. One kind of abstraction network is called an area taxonomy, and a variation of it is called a subtaxonomy. A methodology based on these taxonomies for more readily finding missing relationship errors is explored.Methods: The area taxonomy and the subtaxonomy are deployed to help reveal concepts that have a high likelihood of exhibiting missing relationship errors. A specific top-level grouping unit found within the area taxonomy and subtaxonomy, when deemed to be anomalous, is used as an indicator that missing relationship errors are likely to be found among certain concepts. Two hypotheses pertaining to the effectiveness of our Quality Assurance approach are studied.Results: Our Quality Assurance methodology was applied to the Biological Process hierarchy of the National Cancer Institute thesaurus (NCIt) and SNOMED CT's Eye/vision finding subhierarchy within its Clinical finding hierarchy. Many missing relationship errors were discovered and confirmed in our analysis. For both test-bed hierarchies, our Quality Assurance methodology yielded a statistically significantly higher number of concepts with missing relationship errors in comparison to a control sample of concepts. Two hypotheses are confirmed by these findings.Conclusions: Quality assurance is a critical part of an ontology's lifecycle, and automated or semi-automated tools for supporting this process are invaluable. We introduced a Quality Assurance methodology targeted at missing relationship errors. Rigid origami is a branch of origami with great potential in engineering applications to deal with rigid-panel folding. One of the challenges is to compactly fold flat a polyhedron made from rigid facets with a single degree of freedom. In this paper, we present a new method to design origami cubes with three fundamental characteristics: rigid foldability, flat foldability and one degree of freedom (DOF). A total of four cases of crease patterns that enable origami cubes with distinct folding performances have been proposed, which covers all possible layouts of the diagonal creases on the square facets of origami cubes. The folding utilises spherical linkages formed by intersecting creases, and based on the kinematic equivalence between the rigid origami and the spherical linkages, the corresponding spherical linkage loops are introduced and analysed to reveal the motion properties of the origami cubes. COVID‐19 is characterized by dysregulated immune responses, metabolic dysfunction and adverse effects on the function of multiple organs. To understand host responses to COVID‐19 pathophysiology, we combined transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to identify molecular markers in peripheral blood and plasma samples of 66 COVID‐19‐infected patients experiencing a range of disease severities and 17 healthy controls. A large number of expressed genes, proteins, metabolites, and extracellular RNAs (exRNAs) exhibit strong associations with various clinical parameters. Multiple sets of tissue‐specific proteins and exRNAs varied significantly in both mild and severe patients suggesting a potential impact on tissue function. Chronic activation of neutrophils, IFN‐I signaling, and a high level of inflammatory cytokines were observed in patients with severe disease progression. In contrast, COVID‐19‐infected patients experiencing milder disease symptoms showed robust T‐cell responses. Finally, we identified genes, proteins, and exRNAs as potential biomarkers that might assist in predicting the prognosis of SARS‐CoV‐2 infection. These data refine our understanding of the pathophysiology and clinical progress of COVID‐19. Vehicle lateral stability control is one of the most critical aspects of vehicle safety control. In this paper, aiming at keeping the vehicle states (lateral velocity and yaw rate) always in the vehicle stability regions, a novel lateral stability control method, which consists of shiftable region-based stability analyses and a corresponding stability controller, is proposed. In the stability analyses, two features of the stability regions are introduced. First, a shifting vector is formulated to explicitly describe the shifting feature of lateral stability regions, so that the shiftable regions are not necessarily re-estimated with respect to a varying steering angle input. Second, dynamic margins of the stability regions are formulated and applied to avoid the penetration of vehicle state trajectory with respect to the stability region boundaries. With these two features, the shiftable stability regions are feasible for an accurate stability analysis, where a projection method is adopted to determine the relative location/distance between the vehicle state point and the closest boundary of the stability region. Based on the analyses, a dynamic sliding mode controller, where the sliding surfaces are selected as the stability region boundaries with the proposed dynamic margins, is designed to keep the vehicle states always in the shiftable stability region. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed control design and analyses, two maneuvers through the co-simulation between Matlab/Simulink and CarSim, namely a high-speed constant cornering and a double lane change maneuvers, are presented and discussed. Objective: The anatomy of the tracheobronchial tree differs among not only various races but also individual ethnic groups. Different lengths of the right mainstem bronchus (RMSB) had been described in previous publications. Since the differences in the anatomy of the RMSB and right upper lobe bronchus (RUB) may have clinical relevance when selecting devices, specifically, the right-side double lumen tube (R-DLT) for lung isolation, we revisited the anatomy of the right upper lobe in a large scale Chinese population. Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, we reviewed 2093 consecutive adult patients undergoing thoracic computed tomography (CT) scans from data base in our hospital. Demographic characteristics were collected. The lengths, internal diameters, and angles of the RMSB and RUB were measured using reconstructive CT images. The correlations between the demographic variables and the RMSB length and diameters were also analyzed. Results: The incidence of the aberrant RUB originated equal or above the tracheal carina was 8.1‰. 52.3% of the patients had a length of RMSB less than 23 mm, and the incidence of RMSB length <23 mm in women was significantly higher than that in men (63.5% vs. 42.8%, p = 0.000). The right bronchial length (RBL) was less than 10 mm in 21% of cases (17.8% in men and 24.8% in women, respectively, p = 0.000). Both the RMSB lengths and diameters had poor correlations with the heights in either male or female patients. Conclusion: A much higher incidence of a shortened RMSB potentially make placement of a R-DLT more difficult in Chinese population. Both the lengths and diameters of the RMSB cannot be predicted by the height. Preoperative thoracic CT scan for each patient helps optimizing the selection of a lung isolation device, and the importance of an evaluation of the CT scans preoperatively by the anesthesiologists should be emphasized. Information on the burden of disease due to foodborne pathogens in China is quite limited. To understand the incidence of foodborne gastroenteritis due to non-typhoidal Salmonella enterica and Vibrio parahaemolyticus, population survey and sentinel hospital surveillance were conducted during July 2010 to June 2011 in Shanghai, east China, and a model for calculating disease burden was established. The multiplier for gastroenteritis caused by these pathogens was estimated at 59 [95% confidence interval (CI) 30–102]. Annual incidence per 100,000 population in Shanghai was estimated as 48 (95% CI 24–83) and 183 (95% CI 93–317) cases for foodborne non-typhoidal salmonellosis and V. parahaemolyticus gastroenteritis, respectively, illustrating that bacterial gastroenteritis due to these two pathogens poses a substantial health burden. There is a significant difference between our simulated incidence and the data actually reported for foodborne diseases, indicating significant underreporting and underdiagnosis of non-typhoidal S. enterica and V. parahaemolyticus gastroenteritis in the surveillance area. The present research demonstrates basic situation of the health burden caused by major foodborne pathogens in the surveillance area.
