Pandemic ,Pandemi ,COVID-19 ,Cancer screening programs ,Kanser tarama programları - Abstract
In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the frequencies of participation of adults to cancer screening in the National Cancer Screening Program and the reasons for not participating. This descriptive survey study was carried out with adults in family medicine outpatient clinics, between March 2021 and June 2021, in Turkey. The questionnaire contained 43 questions; in the first part, the participants were asked to provide some sociodemographic data; the second part consisted of questions about current smoking status, presence of chronical disease, presence of any type of cancer, history of cancer in family, taking information about cancer screening program in their country, history of getting any cancer screening before and during the COVID-19 pandemic and the third part of the survey focused on questions related to national cancer screening program (colorectal cancer, cervix cancer, breast cancer). One hundred and ninety-one people participated, 54.2% of them stated that the pandemic affects the frequency of having occult blood test in stool, 47.4% stated that the pandemic affects the frequency of colonoscopy, 37.7% stated that the pandemic affects the frequency of taking mammography, 37.1% stated that the pandemic affects the frequency of taking pap smear test. The mostly stated reason for these delays were being afraid of going to the health center for worry of getting an infection. Interruptions in cancer screening will lead to late diagnosis of current cancers, additional cancer deaths. Until screening rates return to pre-COVID levels, these interruptions could have a large impact. Our results were shown the negative effects of pandemic on screening programs and the mostly emphasized reason was being afraid of going to the health center for worry of getting an infection. Ankete katılan 191 kişiden %54.2'si pandeminin dışkıda gizli kan testi yaptırma sıklığını etkilediğini, %47.4'ü pandeminin kolonoskopi sıklığını etkilediğini, %37.7'si pandeminin mamografi çekme sıklığını etkilediğini ve %37.1'i pandeminin pap smear testi yaptırma sıklığını etkilediğini belirtti.

Objectives: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common sexually transmitted viruses in the world that causes diseases of the genitourinary system. But it is still not included in the national immunization schedule. Our aim is to find out the attitudes and practices of physicians in Türkiye regarding HPV vaccination. Materials and Methods: The study was qualitative in nature. It was conducted with 14 subjects consisting of specialists in general medicine, family medicine, gynecology and obstetrics, urology, pediatrics and diseases working in Türkiye. A thematic framework analysis was used for the analysis. Results: No notable difference was found in the opinions of the doctors in relation to their age or gender. The analysis revealed three main themes: Prejudice and ignorance about the HPV vaccine, insufficient information to patients about the HPV vaccine, and the need to include the HPV vaccine in the national immunization schedule. Conclusion: The HPV vaccine is currently a paid vaccine, administered only on demand. Participants cited a lack of knowledge about the vaccine and the cost of the vaccine as the biggest barriers to vaccination. However, it is a vaccine that is considered necessary to be included in the "National Immunization Schedule". [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between gender, and drug allergy agent and its incidence frequency.Material and Methods: The population of this retrospective study included individuals who applied to the polyclinics for any reason between 2015 and 2021 and who reported a drug allergy. The total numbers of applications, number of examinations, gender, and the presence of drug allergy and the drug allergy agent were recorded in the data form using the archive review method. Data were analyzed with the IBM SPSS V23.Results: The total number of applications to the polyclinic was 151.036 and the number of singular patient applications was 31.915. Among 31.915 patients, 312 patients reported a drug allergy. Of these patients, 79 (25.3%) were male and 233 (74.7%) were female. The most common allergen reported was penicillin, and 58.2% of men and 45.5% of women had this allergy. No statistically significant difference was found between the distributions of allergen agents based on gender (p>0.096). There was a significant difference only between Gadobutrol and gender, and a correlation was found with male gender (p=0.021). No correlation was found when drug agents were dived into groups. Conclusion: Since it has become easy to access healthcare services as well as drugs, the incidence frequency of drug allergies has also increased. Although it is predicted that gender might be effective in the occurrence of drug allergies due to hormonal and genetic differences, no correlation was found in this study. Thus, it should be noted that the risk of drug allergy incidence might exist for both genders.

Objectives: This study examines the relationship between nomophobia and smartphone addiction, which have not become increasingly prevalent, and other addictions, especially drug abuse. Methods: This study included Hacettepe University students aged 18 years and above between June 2020 and August 2020. The questionnaire used in this study consisted of questions about socio-demographical characteristics in the first part and the Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q), Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS), Alcohol Risk Screening Scale (ARSS) and Drug Use Risk Screening Scale (DRSS) in the second part. Results: The study included 386 university students and 195 (50.5%) were men. The median of NMP-Q, SAS, ARSS, and DRSS were 78.0 (20.0-140.0), 35.0 (10.0-60.0), 6.0 (0.0-12.0), 0.0 (0.0-2.0), respectively. No significant difference in the nomophobia score was found between the alcohol and drug addiction risk scale scores (p=0.545 and p=0.186, respectively). Also, no significant difference in the smartphone addiction score was found between the alcohol and drug addiction risk scale scores (p=0.520 and p=0.945, respectively). There was a weak negative relationship between nomophobia scores and age (p=0.046). Conclusion: Given the increased tendency to follow technological developments among university students, their incapability to stay away from smartphones and similar devices due to smartphone addiction is an indicator of the student's addiction. This may predispose them to other accompanying addictions such as alcoholism and drug abuse. However, many different factors may cause this. All health institutions should take necessary protective measures to minimize and eliminate such addictions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Frequency of application to primary health care services with syncope is quite high. Especially in the presence of recurrent syncope attacks, even if the healing process is fast, the etiology should be investigated, and the necessary research and clinical tests should be done to make a differential diagnosis. In our case, we presented a patient who was admitted to our Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic due to syncope and was diagnosed with cardiovascular syncope due to pericardial effusion.
